Eagle-Eyed MCU Fans Spot 'Tiamut Island' in Captain America: Brave New World Trailer, Proving Marvel Remembers Eternals Exists

12 juillet 2024 à 17:54

The debut trailer for Captain America: Brave New World offers a glimpse of 'Tiamut Island' 'and fans are relieved that the MCU finally seems to be addressing this previously abandoned plot point from Eternals.

The new footage sets up the story of the fourth Captain America film with plenty of action and exciting teases, including a first look at Red Hulk. One shot that got people talking was Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson soaring past a rocky monument fans have identified it as the site of Tiamut, the deceased Celestial from Eternals.

Eagle-eyed viewers who spotted the reference immediately took to social media to share their relief that the MCU has finally acknowledged the events of Eternals, specifically Sersi using her powers to turn Tiamut into stone in a bid to prevent the Celestial from completing the Emergence and destroying Earth.

His colossal remains left protruding from the ocean have often raised questions among fans since all of the Phase 4 projects post-Eternals failed to pick up on that plot point (bar an Easter egg in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), but the Tiamut sneak peek in Captain America: Brave New World has put minds to rest.

A long-running rumor suggests Tiamut may hold valuable resources that global leaders want to claim. One of the rare materials could be adamantium, which Marvel describes as "an artificial metal alloy that is indestructible and capable of cutting through almost any substance." It also makes up Wolverine's skeleton.

The synopsis for Captain America: Brave New World teases "a nefarious global plot" as Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson meets with the newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, played by Harrison Ford, amid an international incident, which he must tackle before "the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red."

We're only likely to find out more when Captain America: Brave New World opens in theaters on February 14, 2025. The film is part of Phase 5 of the MCU before Thunderbolts* caps things off.
