Elden Ring Mod Basically Turns It Into Bloodborne

12 juillet 2024 à 19:07

An Elden Ring modder is basically turning the entire game into Bloodborne through the implementation of trick weapons, parrying firearms, quick steps, a permanent night, and more spookiness.

As reported by GamesRadar, Nexus Mods user Noctis created the Graceborne: Bloodborne Inspired Overhaul, its name obviously blending Bloodborne with Elden Ring's "grace." The mod is "still in its infancy" but aims to "turn Elden Ring's base game into a more grim and sinister experience."

Noctis recently shared a video on YouTube asking modders to help them create the mod, as "undertaking Graceborne's full scope alone would simply be impossible." Despite this, Graceborne already has 22 armor sets, 35 weapons, 17 trick weapons, and five firearms.

The mod aims to add more than just weapons and armor inspired by Bloodborne, however, as it instead looks to recreate the entire gothic horror atmosphere. This isn't someone recreating Bloodborne within Elden Ring, but instead someone applying a Bloodborne filter to it.

The alpha is currently available to download, which alongside the myriad armor and weapon pieces includes gameplay additions including "gun parrying, no equipment load, quicksteps when locked on, perma-night, Bloodborne-style healing," and more, Noctis said. "It also replaces the appearance of several mobs and bosses to fit in the aesthetic of the overhaul."

It's perhaps the closest fans will get to playing Bloodborne on PC as the PlayStation 4 exclusive still hasn't joined other Sony titles in making the jump. Modders have worked hard to emulate the experience before, including by adding Bloodborne models and weapons to Lies of P.

Elden Ring is still plenty beloved by itself, of course, as both the base game and its Shadow of the Erdtree expansion earned 10/10 reviews from IGN. Its release in June 2024, alongside assertion from FromSoftware that it will be Elden Ring's only expansion, has fans wondering what comes next

Company president Hidetaka Miyazaki isn't giving anything away yet, but he has said not even Elden Ring is his perfect role-playing game.

Transportation Manager Blames Anime for Giving Trucks a Bad Reputation

12 juillet 2024 à 17:34

A transportation manager has blamed anime for cultivating a negative public perception of trucks.

As reported by Weekly Logistics News and translated by Automaton, a transportation manager in Shizuoka, Japan said the logistics industry's reputation is being ruined by anime that uses the common trope of main characters being killed by trucks.

An anime genre called isekai is particularly to blame, they said. These shows see the main character killed in the real world early and transported to a magical location where they embark on a new adventure.

So they gave an in-universe explanation for Truck-kun. I’m sold on this show just from that lol pic.twitter.com/8wnQuGDuLl

It's very common for that initial cause of death to come via a truck, so much so that a meme known as Truck-kun has emerged which mocks the trope. Anime including Wise Man's Grandchild, Knight's & Magic, Zombie Land Saga, and many more all use it, and No Longer Allowed in Another World even explains the truck as an entity which chooses and brings people to a new world (as seen in the X/Twitter post above).

The transportation manager said these anime have subliminal messaging which leads to an intrinsic dislike of trucks and transportation companies. Despite their understanding that freedom of expression in storytelling is important, they'd rather trucks weren't to blame so often.

Plenty of anime don't use such a trope, of course, including many of the most popular ones such as One Piece and Demon Slayer.
