visionOS App Store to allow alternative payment options for users in the EU

The European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) antitrust legislation came into effect earlier this year and has already forced Apple to make some deep changes to the App Store, including allowing developers to offer alternative payment options in their apps. As Apple Vision Pro is coming to Europe, Apple has now confirmed that alternative payment options will also be available on the visionOS App Store.

Apple rumored to announce integration with Google’s Gemini chatbot this fall

Apple last month announced a partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia. However, the company has already confirmed that it has plans to add integration with more chatbots in the future – and it looks like a deal with Google to bring Gemini to Apple devices may be announced sooner than we think.

Report shows that AAA games for iPhone and iPad aren’t exactly a hit with users

Since the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro with A17 Pro, Apple’s first chip with hardware-accelerated ray-tracing, Apple has been trying to convince major game developers to bring their titles to iOS. AAA Games like Resident Evil Village and Assassin’s Creed Mirage are now available on the App Store, but a new report shows that they’re not exactly a hit with iPhone and iPad users.

US carriers now enabling RCS for iPhone users running iOS 18 beta 2

As we reported yesterday, Apple has been getting ready to roll out RCS support on the iPhone with iOS 18. However, doing so also requires mobile carriers to work on an update on their part – something that some US carriers have already done. Now it seems that these carriers have flipped the switch and are now enabling RCS for users running the latest iOS 18 beta.

As announced by Apple at WWDC 2024, iOS 18 officially brings support for RCS – or Rich Communication Services – to the iPhone. However, as we previously reported, the feature doesn’t seem to be available to beta users. Unfortunately, iOS 18 beta users might have to wait a bit longer before they can enable RCS on their iPhone.
