Apple Watch Series 10 is getting bigger, could Apple Intelligence be the reason?

5 juillet 2024 à 19:11

This fall’s Apple Watch Series 10 is reportedly going plus size. While the Ultra model stays the same, the two standard Apple Watch sizes are expected to grow significantly: moving from 41mm and 45mm cases to 45mm and 49mm.

Why the change? Perhaps Apple has seen strong customer satisfaction around the Ultra model’s larger display, and assumes that bigger will prove better.

In thinking about the Apple Watch’s future, though, I’ve started to wonder if Apple Intelligence may be part of the answer.

5 juillet 2024 à 16:52

Ever since getting into original film production, Apple’s focus with Apple TV+ has been set on award-contending titles. Oscar bait like Killers of the Flower Moon, CODA, Napoleon, and its new best-reviewed movie yet.

But for years, the company has been working on a different kind of project: a feel-good summer release with a massive budget that’s designed to be a crowd pleaser. That film, Apple’s first ever attempt at a summer blockbuster, now has a title and poster.

Apple has a reputation for taking its time with new technology. It is rarely first to the party, but often it arrives with an offering that sets a new standard.

There have always been critics to this approach, and that’s as true now as ever. But recent fails from some of Apple’s biggest competitors, particularly in emerging technologies like AI and robotics, have once again proven the advantage of Apple’s method.

The latest Apple TV+ movie is its best reviewed yet

3 juillet 2024 à 19:16

If you had to name the best reviewed movie on Apple TV+, what would you guess?

CODA would be a good choice, since it won the Best Picture Oscar—the highest achievement possible for a film in the US. Another strong contender is Killers of the Flowers Moon, Martin Scorsese’s 2023 triumph. Or maybe The Tragedy of MacBeth comes to mind.

These are some of the most prestigious and praised TV+ original films, but they’ve all been bested by the latest new release on TV+.

iOS 18 is shaping up to be one of the biggest software updates the iPhone has ever received. There’s Apple Intelligence, big upgrades to core apps like Photos, Messages, and Notes, a new Siri, countless ways to personalize your device, and much more.

The mute button gets a welcome, no-brainer upgrade in iOS 18 and tvOS 18

2 juillet 2024 à 20:01

Not every piece of technology or feature needs upgrading over time. Some things work just fine the way they are, and any tweaking or “enhancements” will only make things worse.

I would have thought that a TV’s mute button was one such leave-it-alone feature. It’s simple, uncomplicated, and should stay that way. But Apple has changed my mind by introducing a no-brainer upgrade to the mute button in tvOS 18, iOS 18, and more: auto-subtitles.
