Ghost Town Gets PlayStation VR2 Launch Next Week

Ghost Town, one of 2025's best VR games, launches next week on PlayStation VR2.

Having received a staggered release this year on Quest and Steam, supernatural puzzle adventure Ghost Town is now heading to PlayStation VR2. Set in the UK in the 80s, you play as ghost hunter and exorcist Edith Penrose who runs a paranormal detective agency with your flatmate. You're tasked with tackling London's restless spirits, all while trying to find her missing brother.

Though we've known since its initial announcement that a PlayStation VR2 port was coming, developer Fireproof Games (The Room VR) has now confirmed a release date via social media. However, it's unclear if this upcoming port will use PS VR2-specific features like adaptive triggers and eye tracking. We've contacted the studio, and we'll update this article if we learn more.

We had high praise for Fireproof's latest in our Ghost Town review back in April. Calling it “an utterly engrossing supernatural VR adventure,” we awarded it 4.5-5 stars and later revisited the game following July's PC VR launch.

It's not a stretch to say that Ghost Town is one of the best VR games so far this year. Fireproof Games has delivered a worthy spiritual successor to The Room VR that employs a similarly strong level of VR interactivity, backed up by great visuals on Quest 3, a thoroughly engrossing supernatural narrative and intuitive puzzles.

Ghost Town is out now on Quest and SteamVR, while the PlayStation VR2 release arrives on December 1.

How To Pitch Articles To UploadVR

At UploadVR, we regularly publish articles from freelance writers and if you're looking to write for us, here's what you need to know.

Our regular duties often involve considering pitches from freelance writers. As a leading voice across XR media, our goal is to deliver informative articles filled with expertise, original reporting, fresh perspectives and other insights across VR/AR/MR. While the biggest stories and games will be covered by our internal staff, we're open to suggestions elsewhere too.

With that said, here are some key details to keep in mind.


How To Pitch Us In The Email

Here are some general guidelines we recommend following when pitching UploadVR.

  • Clearly label your email subject as a pitch - To avoid your email getting lost, we'd normally advise adding “Pitch:” to your email's subject line while mentioning the game's name.
  • Include your headline - Headlines are ultimately reflective of your wider article. We want to know which game is this referring to and what's the hook of your piece. We don't enforce a strict character limit, so you don't need to make these too short, but we're also not after headlines that read like an entire paragraph. You don't need to put the headline in the subject line either, as long as it's in the main body.
  • Outline your pitch - Tell us how you plan to follow through with your pitch. Summarize your angle, how you intend to approach the article, and the structure you expect to follow.
  • Keep it concise - If you need four or five paragraphs to explain your pitch, we advise reframing it. We don't need you to outline every individual aspect providing the key points are addressed, brevity is an art form in itself. Ideally, keep your pitch within one or two paragraphs when sending an email over.
  • Sell the idea to us - This effectively comes down to two points. Why are you the best person to tell this story, and why do you believe this will interest our audience?
  • Do not use Generative AI - Please do not use generative AI to write your email pitch in any form. It's incredibly obvious, we will not respond to these emails, and this will significantly impact our likelihood of working with you. We also reserve the right to remove any articles written using generative AI without prior disclosure.
  • Link your previous work - If we haven't worked together before, please include links to a portfolio, personal blog, or author profiles for other outlets. We're open to working with new authors, but it always helps to have a sample of your previous work.

Where To Send Your Pitch

There are two ways to send your pitch. While our Contact Us page goes to the whole team, we'd normally suggest directly emailing our Editor-in-Chief, Ian Hamilton.

You can also use our general inbox, tips@uploadvr.com, which goes to the wider editorial team. However, we generally suggest directly contacting editors instead, since that inbox is where we recommend readers/developers/publishers/PR etc. to send in relevant news stories and updates.


What We're Interested In Commissioning

  • Original reporting and interviews - If you've got a high-interest story where you've directly spoken with different sources, we're always willing to hear your pitch. If you're pitching interviews for a game that's not publicly launched, we'd ideally need you to have gone hands-on with it first.
  • Community-driven features - Do you have an intriguing tale you'd like to share about an existing VR community? Whether that's social VR platforms like VRChat or more traditional multiplayer games, we're interested in hearing these stories.
  • Reviews, impressions, previews - Reviews and impressions are the most commonly commissioned articles by UploadVR. Though we work with an existing freelance pool of writers, we're open to hearing from more people if you've got a specific interest in any niche genres.

What We Currently Aren't Looking For

  • Anything that isn't related to VR/MR/AR/XR - This may sound obvious, but we regularly receive pitches that have nothing to do with the XR industry. We won't cover more traditional gaming unless a game has VR support, or anything outside XR technology. If your pitch only peripherally relates to XR, we probably won't accept it.
  • Op-eds - While we welcome unique perspectives, op-eds (that aren't interview-driven) about big games or new hardware are largely matters UploadVR prefers to keep to its staff.
  • Q&A interviews - We're open to interview pitches, but we don't want these features presented in a standard question and answer format. Here are some examples of our preferred approach.
  • Stories you've already written - This rule is mostly to avoid wasting your time. Editors may agree to a pitch while also requesting changes to your approach, which could involve significant rewrites if you've already completed your article. We'll always aim to help you shape these stories if guidance is needed.
  • Articles about Web3/Crypto/Generative AI/Gambling - Though UploadVR has covered how select XR apps use generative AI in the past, this is not a subject we'll ever commission.

Our Rates

As of November 27, 2025, UploadVR pays the following USD rates for these types of articles with the following suggested word counts.

  • News - $50 (200–300 words)
  • Previews/Impressions - $150 (500–700 words)
  • Reviews - $250 (minimum 900 words)
    • Review-in-progress - We pay an extra $60 minimum for a one-off update. This is negotiable depending on the scope.
  • Features - Rates are negotiable due to how varied they can be, but we start from a minimum rate of $175. Please note that feature pitches are not a current priority for us, though we'll still consider them.

Other Details

We occasionally take unpaid guest articles or editorials from XR experts like developers, researchers, and engineers looking to share something of broad interest to our community.

Guest articles like this are not something that would apply to freelance journalists. However, if you're an industry expert looking to share your insights, you can email Ian Hamilton (ian@uploadvr.com) about this.

We also have a separate marketing department with a different pool of writers producing labeled “Sponsored” content adhering to our public guidelines. We do not commission writers who have worked on editorial articles with us for sponsored content. Leo Says 84 – Nvidia has the Blackest Friday

Nvidia recently reported their financial figures for Q3 of 2026 (yes we know, that sounds weird) and the numbers were enormous… however, the immediate response of the market was to dump Nvidia stock and watch the price drop. This was quite unexpected and seemed bizarre until we heard rumours of fraud and shady accounting.

In another unusual – perhaps unique – move Nvidia sent a memo to a handful of financial analysts to rebut these criticisms. Happily we got our hands on this memo and are able to bring it to the audience of KitGuru.

The mechanics of the dispute get a bit technical but in essence consider this scenario: A Hyperscaler buys $1 billion of GPUs each year and makes $200 million revenue; if they write down the investment over three years that looks like a waste of money that might lead to ruin. On the other hand, if they write down the $1 billion over six years that could balance the books, provided the accountants agree and the investors are happy.

Now that Michael Burry of ‘The Big Short' has gone public with his views we see this fight getting messy and doubt the financial people at Nvidia will have a peaceful Christmas…

Cyberpunk 2077 hits major milestone

In many people’s eyes, Cyberpunk 2077 represents an excellent story of redemption. While the game suffered from an infamous launch, years of updates and post-launch support has made CD Project Red’s latest effort into one of the most celebrated games in recent years – especially from fans of the genre. 5 years on and countless updates later, Cyberpunk 2077 has been announced to have officially sold over 35 million copies.

As part of the company’s latest Q3 2025 earnings report, CDPR officially confirmed that as of the 26th of November 2025, Cyberpunk 2077 has sold a total of 35 million copies – putting it within the top 25 best-selling games of all time (currently in between Hogwarts Legacy and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild).

For context, Cyberpunk 2077 sold millions of copies before the game even released, with the team confirming back in December 2020 that over 8 million players had pre-ordered the title.

As such, it comes as little surprise that the game wound up selling over 13 million copies less than two weeks into its lifecycle (despite plenty of controversies and refunds).

Cyberpunk 35 million

The next major sales update arrived in April of 2022, when the game was confirmed to have surpassed 18 million sales in the wake of its next-gen update – going on to hit 20 million by September of the same year.

The most recent sales update prior to this latest announcement put Cyberpunk 2077 at 30 million copies sold as of November last year. Of course, in the time since they announced the 20 million sales mark, the game had received plenty of additional updates, including the all-important 2.0 patch and the Phantom Liberty expansion.

Over the past year, Cyberpunk 2077 has continued to see a number of smaller-yet-still-welcome updates, adding various quality of life improvements, photo mode enhancements, driving optimisations and more. That said, with the game pretty much complete at this point, it will be interesting to see just how well Cyberpunk 2077 will continue to sell – and whether it will ever reach the total sales of their ‘magnum opus’ The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (60 million).

Meta Launches Smart Glasses Trade-In Program & Gives Credit For AirPods

Meta now has a trade-in program for its displayless smart glasses in the US.

The company's online store offers credit for trading in either Gen 1 Ray-Ban Meta glasses or recent models of AirPods, Beats, or Galaxy Buds wireless earbuds.

Here's the full list of eligible devices to trade in:

  • Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 1)
  • Apple AirPods Pro 2
  • Apple AirPods 4
  • Apple AirPods 3
  • Beats Powerbeats Pro 2
  • Beats Studio Buds +
  • Beats Fit Pro
  • Samsung Galaxy Buds3
  • Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro
  • Samsung Galaxy Buds3 FE

You can trade one of these devices in when buying any of Meta's smart glasses except for Meta Ray-Ban Display. That means the program applies to the two Ray-Ban Meta generations, Oakley Meta HSTN, and Oakley Meta Vanguard.

Traded-in devices must be "in working condition and include the charging case to properly charge the device", Meta's policy states. After an inspection to verify this, you'll be issued the credit to the payment method you used to buy the glasses.

How much credit you'll get depends on which device you trade in, with Ray-Ban Meta fetching up to $113 depending on the exact variant, while wireless earbuds will get you up to $70.

Today we take a look at a new power supply from Thermaltake, the Toughpower PT 1200W, one of their latest Platinum ATX 3.1 certified units. This fully modular unit has achieved Cybenetics Platinum certification and there are three models available to purchase rated 850W, 1000W and 1200W. Today we look at the flagship (1200W) model in the range which is competitively priced in the UK. Is it worth the modest asking price? We find out today.

This 1200W PSU is being sold in the United Kingdom for £169.99 inc. VAT (HERE), so while it isn't ‘bargain basement' it is less than half the price of some of the highest cost Platinum rated units we have tested in the last two years. I would class this as affordable in the high end sector. We know this is a CWT design for Thermaltake and we will take a closer look at this later in the review when we open the unit for analysis.

Black Forest Labs unveils FLUX.2 image generation models with NVIDIA optimisations

Black Forest Labs has announced the release of FLUX.2, its latest family of visual generative AI models designed to push the boundaries of image fidelity. Developed in collaboration with NVIDIA and ComfyUI, the models launch with FP8 quantisation and RTX GPU performance optimisations, reducing VRAM requirements by up to 40 percent.

FLUX.2 is built for photorealism, producing images at resolutions up to 4 megapixels with realistic lighting and physics to avoid the artificial “AI look”. The models introduce direct pose control, allowing users to specify subject positioning, and generate clean, legible text across infographics, user interfaces, and multilingual content.

Despite their capabilities, the models are resource-intensive, requiring up to 90GB VRAM to fully load. To make them more accessible, NVIDIA and Black Forest Labs have streamlined performance for GeForce RTX GPUs. Improvements to ComfyUI’s weight streaming feature further enhance usability, enabling broader adoption among PC users.

For the unfamiliar, The Midnight Walk is MoonHood's dark puzzle adventure game where you play as the Burnt One, working together with a lantern creature called Potboy as you explore this strange fantasy world. Originally released digitally in May with optional PC VR and PS VR2 support, it's now getting a PS5 physical edition via Pix'n Love.

While pre-orders go live on December 2, it's currently unclear when the physical publisher intends to ship these editions. A reversible cover will be included, though it's unclear whether this release comes with any additional extras; the store page hasn't been listed yet on Pix'n Love's website. Since initially publishing this story, a Collector's Edition has also been revealed.

We had significant praise for The Midnight Walk in our 4/5-star review. Though we thought it would benefit from more in-depth puzzles, we praised MoonHood for delivering a “memorable adventure” and had considerable praise for its visuals. Film and TV adaptations are also in development.

Pre-orders go live through Pix’n Love's website on December 2. Otherwise, The Midnight Walk is available now digitally on Steam and PS5.

Previously teased last month before last week's artist reveal, Beat Saber's latest major free update has now arrived with OST 8. Featuring returning artists like DragonForce, Lindsey Stirling, and Camellia, this multi-genre soundtrack also includes two new acts making their Beat Saber debut, auvic and dark cat.

In a separate post, Beat Games confirmed that it encountered “a serious technical issue affecting AMD graphics cards,” stating it's working with AMD to resolve this “as quickly as we can.” As such, a release date on Steam and Meta Quest Link is currently unconfirmed.

If you're looking for a wow-inducing VR experience, Hotel Infinity from the makers of Manifold Garden is one to make space for.

UploadVR's reviewer declared the new room-scale VR title "a must-own for anyone interested in understanding the potential of this medium". Thomas Van Bouwel, the creator of the essential mixed reality game Laser Dance echoed the sentiment by writing he "played through it in one sitting. Highly recommended!"

Hotel Infinity is a standout example of true room-scale VR, and a must-own for anyone interested in understanding the potential of this medium.

The creative team behind this "MC Escher-like hotel" in VR is Studio Chyr, a small independent group headquartered in Chicago headed by William Chyr. They previously made Manifold Garden, which launched in 2019 with puzzles set across its "Escher-esque world of impossible architecture". Carrying an "overwhelmingly positive" rating across its lifetime with a strong fan base behind Manifold Garden, one would understand why the developers started there when attempting to make a VR game.

They quickly realized, however, the gameplay "didn’t translate in a meaningful or innovative way" to VR. So "we went back to the original inspiration: the desire to experience space that’s impossible in the real world. What would experiencing impossible space in VR be like?"

As Hotel Infinity opens minds to VR's potential, we reached out to Studio Chyr with a few questions to contextualize the achievement.

William Chyr responded over email.

Who made this?

"Hotel Infinity is made by Studio Chyr, a small independent studio headquartered in Chicago. Previously, we made Manifold Garden, which launched in 2019.

At our core, we’re a team of 7, but throughout development we regularly collaborated with specialists during different phases of the project. At peak production we had around 20 people working on the game. And if you include everyone from platform partners, external QA, interns, and consultants who helped us get across the finish line, the total number of contributors is closer to 70.

We did early prototyping and pre-production while we were still porting Manifold Garden to new platforms back in 2021. I would say full production really began in early 2023, when we scaled up the team, so it took about 3 years of development."

Why did you focus on room-scale VR?

"We originally set out to make Manifold Garden in VR, but it quickly became clear that the game didn’t translate in a meaningful or innovative way. For example, we implemented gravity-changing in VR with teleportation, but it didn’t feel that special or interesting. Likewise, falling through space repeatedly is a big part of Manifold Garden, but that just wasn’t as comfortable in VR.

Instead of adapting Manifold Garden for VR, we went back to the original inspiration: the desire to experience space that’s impossible in the real world. What would experiencing impossible space in VR be like?

The project evolved into its own thing and became Hotel Infinity. We chose to embrace VR completely and design around what makes it unique, which is its ability to immerse the player and create a sense of presence. Natural locomotion became a central pillar of the design, because it allows you to experience impossible spaces in a way that you simply can’t in any other medium."

What was the single biggest challenge in design?

"Definitely level design and movement. Specifically, making the world feel large and coherent while keeping players inside a 2m x 2m space.

To do that, we had to design environments that loop and fold. We have hallways that bend back on themselves in ways that would be impossible in real life, but VR lets you experience that. There were a lot of technical hurdles that we had to overcome just to be able to pull this off. The game requires a robust portal system, and we also had to get lighting to blend across portals. I’m very proud of what the team accomplished.

We also had to think a lot about physical comfort. Too many turns in the same direction can make players motion sick, so we had to constantly balance how the player moves. You don’t actually need to walk a lot, but you have to see a lot. A huge amount of our work went into crafting the illusion of large, continuous spaces while using subtle cues like furniture placement and railings to show where you can and can’t walk without breaking immersion.

We had to completely rethink the perception of space. The opening lobby is a good example. It went through many iterations to get the flow right. We had to pay attention to the sequence of left turns and right turns, the size of the turns, and making sure that the next area is always foreshadowed, so that the movement through the space feels cohesive."

What is the team working on now?

"Right now, we are focusing on releasing patches to address some of the key issues that players have identified. We added a visual indicator so that you can see if your playspace guardian is too small, and how much bigger you need to make it. We’ve also made some improvements to reduce flicking and fix bugs. We did also release a game Strata for a new console called Board, that was just announced a few weeks ago. It’s a very different title, where you play with physical pieces on a digital surface."

Do you plan to add controller-free hand tracking?

"At the moment, we do not have plans to add controller-free hand tracking."

Intel’s Core Ultra 9 386H CPU may have leaked

Intel has not yet officially announced its next generation Core Ultra 300 series processors, but a recent benchmark database entry may have given us our first look at the performance for the high-end Core Ultra 9 386H CPU. 

The chip featured in the Geekbench entry shared by Benchleaks appears to be an Intel Core Ultra 386H featuring a 16-core configuration comprising four P-cores, eight E-cores, and four low-power E-cores. During the test, the CPU was able to push to 4.7 GHz.

Running on a system equipped with 64GB of RAM and a Windows 11 Pro balanced power plan, the processor achieved a single-core score of 2,849 and a multi-core result of 15,434 in Geekbench 6.5.0. These figures place the Ultra 9 386H slightly ahead of the performance range offered by the current-generation Arrow Lake-H Core Ultra 9 285H, putting the upcoming CPU around 5% faster in single-core and 9% faster in multi-core.

We have no way of verifying this result ourselves as Intel have not yet officially announced the new generation of Core Ultra CPUs. Benchmark listings like this can be faked, so take the information with a grain of salt. Intel should formally announce its new CPUs in early 2026 around the same time as CES.

All PlayStation Plus subscribers will get five free games next month

The next round of free to claim games for PlayStation Plus has been announced. Just in time for the one-year anniversary of Horizon spin-off, Lego Horizon Adventures, the game will be free to claim for all PlayStation Plus subscribers, alongside three other titles.

Lego Horizon Adventures was a well-received spin-off of Guerrilla Games' flagship Horizon series. It is a reimagining of Horizon Zero Dawn, giving a lighter take on the events of the first game, remixed for a younger audience, as is common for the Lego videogames.

The next two games on the list would have fit right at home in the October line-up but better late than never. Killing Floor 3 is the third game in Tripwire's co-op zombie shooter series, with a tighter focus on tactical combat and with even more dangerous Zeds to contend with. Alongside this, The Outlast Trials is also going to be free to claim, offering players a chance to team up in co-op to escape a cold war-era mind control experiment.

The final two titles being given away in December are Synduality Echo of Ada and Neon White. The former is a PvPvE mech shooter, while the latter is an anime-inspired speedrunning FPS that tasks players with racing through the heavens to earn redemption.

All five titles will be available to claim for all PlayStation Plus subscribers starting on the 2nd of December.

Asus and Xbox roll out ‘Default Game Profiles’ preview update for ROG Xbox Ally

The collaboration between Asus and Microsoft continues to deepen with a significant software update for the ROG Xbox Ally series of handhelds. The latest patch, which is available now in preview, introduces a feature designed to remove the guesswork from balancing performance and battery life.

Dubbed Default Game Profiles, this new functionality automatically adjusts frame rate targets and power consumption (TDP) for supported titles. The new feature in the November update allows users to apply hand-crafted profiles when a compatible game is launched. These profiles are designed to cap frame rates to conserve energy if the device is over-performing or boost power if the game struggles to hit its target.

Asus claims this can lead to substantial gains in efficiency. For instance, the company notes that while playing Hollow Knight: Silksong, the device can see its battery life extended by approximately an hour compared to the standard Performance mode, all while maintaining a fluid 120 FPS. At launch, the preview supports about 70 titles, including major releases like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Gears of War: Reloaded, and Fortnite.

Beyond the power profiles, the new system update addresses general system responsiveness. Users should notice improved gamepad performance, as well as faster loading times for the game library. Cloud Gaming pages have also been optimised for better speed. Additionally, a new “Performance Fit” filter has been added to the Game Gallery, giving players a clearer indication of how well a specific title will run on the handheld.

Looking ahead, Asus plans to keep improving the ROG Xbox Ally with Automatic Super Resolution (Auto SR) and automated highlight reels, leveraging the device's NPU. In the more immediate future, a “Game Save Sync Indicator” is scheduled to arrive next week. Other planned improvements include increasing the sleep and wake reliability, improving formatting options for microSD cards, and more.

AIO liquid cooler pioneer Asetek receives buyout offer

Asetek, the company best known for pioneering the All-In-One liquid cooler for PCs, may soon have new ownership. The company has issued an update to shareholders that it has received a buyout offer, and the board of directors intends to recommend the sale. 

Asetek has received a public takeover offer from CQXA Holdings, a subsidiary of Suzhou Chunqiu Electronics Technology Co, which is known for specialising in precision components and structural modules for consumer electronics. The offer is for 1.72 Danish Krone per share. This represents a 110% premium compared to the company's closing share price of 0.82 DKK prior to the announcement being made.

As you may expect, the announcement of this buyout offer sent Asetek shares skyrocketing. Currently, the company share price sits at 1.6 DKK, as investors look to benefit from the agreed buyout price of 1.72 DKK per share. The total value if the buyout should be just over 574 million DKK, or around £67.3 million converted to GBP.

In its press release on the matter, Asetek confirms it has agreed to the offer and “intends to recommend that Asetek shareholders accept the offer” when it comes time to vote. Every indication so far points towards the deal going through, pending approvals from financial authorities.

The press release states that CQXA is interested in Asetek for its industry-leading liquid cooling solutions and expertise in high performance computing, as well as its SimSports initiatives. It is claimed that after the buyout, the new owners intend to “maintain Asetek as a distinct business unit to preserve its brand and operational independence”.

KitGuru Says: Asetek may not be well known by every reader, but chances are if you have owned an AIO liquid cooler, there has been some Asetek technology inside. Asetek owned the patent for pumps integrated directly into the CPU block, the core feature behind many AIO coolers, although that patent had finally expired earlier this year, creating a questionable situation for Asetek's OEM status moving forward.

Rumour claims Dan Houser left Rockstar due to ‘disagreement’ over company direction

It has been more than five years since Rockstar co-founder, Dan Houser, left the company for good, leaving Red Dead Redemption 2 as his final game at the company. We've never known exactly why he left, but one insider now claims that it was due to a disagreement with his brother, fellow Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser. 

As spotted by Screen Rant, Tez2, someone well known in the Rockstar fan community, recently chimed in on a discussion on the GTA Forums. Fans were discussing the recent ‘union busting' allegations at the company. It didn't take long for some commenters to put forward the idea that union busting and working conditions were the reasons for Dan Houser stepping down and leaving the company.

According to Tez2, this speculation is not quite accurate. After speaking to two “former Rockstar devs”, he claims that Dan Houser had actually left the company back in 2020 due to “disagreements with his brother Sam over the direction the company would take”.

Neither of the brothers have ever spoken about the circumstances of Dan's departure publicly. However, in recent interviews, Dan has made it clear that he primarily enjoyed working on the story-side of Rockstar's games, even labelling Red Dead Redemption 2 as his best work. However, due to the massive success of GTA Online, Rockstar abandoned the idea of story-focused DLCs and expansions in favour of consistent online multiplayer mode updates. This is why despite some initial teasers, we never saw any story DLC for Grand Theft Auto V.

The jury is still out on how good Rockstar's single-player experience will be without Dan guiding and directing the cinematic elements of the games. From what we've seen of GTA 6 so far though, it will be another blockbuster crime story with industry-leading graphics.

KitGuru Says: Rumours can just as easily form and spread in a corporate environment as they do online. There will have been a very small circle involved in any leadership discussions between the Houser brothers. With that in mind, I would take any rumour like this with a pinch of salt. The source being “two former Rockstar devs” sounds good on paper, but unless they were also involved in executive level meetings, or had personal friendships with Dan or Sam, I don't see how this can be anything more than internal speculation.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 gets surprising update via Ubisoft job listing

We are approaching a decade since Ubisoft re-revealed Beyond Good and Evil 2. Unfortunately, since then there have been absolutely no official updates and in 2025, the game appears to be no closer to release. Fans may have some room for optimism, however, as new job listings show that development is continuing.

Ubisoft Montpellier is now hiring for a technical sound designer, with the job description specifying that the role is for the Beyond Good and Evil 2 project. Better yet, the job listing actually gives us a bit of a description on what the game will actually be:

“Beyond Good & Evil 2 is an action-adventure open world game set in a captivating space opera universe and the direct prequel to the 2003 cult classic. Based on a breakthrough technology driven by the proprietary Voyager engine, Beyond Good & Evil 2 aims to offer a seamless experience of exploration and space piracy across a solar system full of exotic locations, colorful characters and mysteries to uncover, solo or with friends. So, if you are ready for an adventure like no other, come join forces with us to build System 3!”

The person who lands the sound designer role will be responsible for creating audio assets and integrating audio designs into the game using a mix of middleware and the game's proprietary engine. It is entirely possible that this proprietary engine is part of the reason that the project has taken so long. Games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Halo Infinite also ran into many delays due to the need to develop engine technology alongside the games themselves.

Ubisoft has not provided an official update on Beyond Good and Evil 2 for years and the last time we saw the game was way back in 2017. Fortunately, it does sound like the creative team now has a concrete idea in place and is moving towards production, which means the final game could be just a few more years away. Typically, a technical sound designer would join a project during the production phase, so the wheels are definitely turning after years of apparent stagnation.

KitGuru Says: Beyond Good and Evil first released way back in 2003 and fans have been asking for a sequel ever since. It is still unclear when the game will resurface, but this latest update is promising.

Embracer Group recoups $30 million by divesting in two more studios

After a lengthy acquisition spree, Embracer Group has been forced to sell off numerous studios and publishers under its wing in a multi-year restructuring effort to fix its financials. This week, Embracer announced plans to divest in two more of its companies, who will now be going independent.

Embracer is now divesting in Arc Games and Cryptic Studios, selling the pair off to Project Golden Arc for $30 million. The two companies will now be owned by Project Golden Arc, a new independent company owned and led by the Arc Games management team.

These two studios both had a storied history. Arc Games was previously known as Perfect World Entertainment and was eventually part of the Gearbox publishing group. However, Arc Games split off from Gearbox when Embracer Group sold the main studio to Take-Two allowing the company to be reunited with the publisher behind their flagship Borderlands games. On the other side, Cryptic Studios was the developer of MMOs like Star Trek Online and Neverwinter.

In a statement, Embracer Group CEO, Phil Rogers, said that this move will support the company's “key priorities by strengthening focus on strategic assets and core IPs”.

These are just two of the latest divestments at Embracer Group. As pointed out by Eurogamer, the company has closed 44 studios and cancelled upwards of 80 projects over the past couple of years, while others have been sold off. In an effort to reduce costs, Embracer Group has also partnered with third-party publishers like Amazon Games to help fund AAA projects like the next Tomb Raider game.

Nova Lake-S CPUs may hold Intel’s answer to AMD’s 3D V-Cache

AMD has dominated CPU gaming performance benchmarks in recent years with its 3D V-Cache equipped models. We've been waiting for Intel's answer to this technology for quite some time and according to new reports, we will see it first in the next-generation Nova Lake-S desktop CPUs. 

Starting with the cache, Jaykihn (via VideoCardz) stated that only the upcoming unlocked/K-series CPUs will feature the bLLC integration. This feature, long-rumoured as Intel's direct answer to AMD's 3D V-Cache, is said to have a massive 144 MB size on select SKUs, finally providing a cache-first option to compete against AMD's gaming leadership. The cache is expected to reside on the compute tile itself.

Another significant upgrade in the upcoming desktop CPUs seems to be their AI performance. Nova Lake-S will completely skip the NPU generations used in Lunar Lake and Panther Lake, jumping from Arrow Lake-S’s NPU3 (13 TOPS) straight to NPU6, according to Jaykihn. This NPU6 block is rumoured to target 74 TOPS of raw performance, representing a massive 5.6x increase over its predecessor and easily eclipsing the 50 TOPS NPU target set for the Panther Lake mobile chips. This dramatic boost ensures the desktop platform is Copilot+ ready and future-proofed for local AI applications.

The leaker also mentioned that the integrated GPU usage in Nova Lake-S CPUs will ship with only 2 Xe3-LPG cores, a reduction from the four cores used in Arrow Lake-S. This concession is minimal, given that these desktop SKUs are intended to be paired with high-end discrete GPUs.
