Horizon Hyperscape Worlds Hands-On: Teleporting Into My Boss's Home With VR

Letting people teleport into your home via Horizon Hyperscape feels like magic, though the scans are lower quality than the old cloud-streamed solo system.

If you missed it, last week Meta started rolling out an overhaul of its Horizon Hyperscape technology, letting you share new captures as unlisted Horizon Worlds and invite people to visit them as Meta Avatars.

These Hyperscape worlds are also rendered on-device on Quest 3 and Quest 3S, in contrast to the cloud-streamed approach previously used for Hyperscape. Up to 8 people can be in a single instance, and the system also includes support for mobile users via the Meta Horizon app.

After receiving the update on his Quest 3, UploadVR's Kyle Riesenbeck rescanned the downstairs living, dining, and kitchen area of his home. A few hours later, it was ready, and so he invited me over to visit.

Appearing as a Meta Avatar, Kyle gave me a guided tour of this huge section of his home, pointing out the details the capture kept, as well as the ones it doesn't quite resolve.

Compared to the previous cloud-rendered solo Hyperscape system, there's a clear drop in quality. For starters, the rendering resolution is lower, with visible pixelation and aliasing for anything relatively far away. As well as this, the Gaussian splat density appears to be lower, blurring some of the finer details captured by the previous implementation of Hyperscape. And despite these regressions, the performance was not solid, with the frame rate dropping when a large enough section of the scan was in my field of view.

Still, these complaints aside, I still had a feeling of being in Kyle's home, and could still see relatively minute details like the place names on the badges and pins he and his wife had pinned to a board after their travels. Further, it's amazing that this experience is even possible at all on an affordable mobile chipset from 2023, and we're due an XR2 Gen 3 next year that should make the experience a lot sharper and smoother.

After visiting Kyle's home, I also scanned the living room and kitchen area of the apartment I live in, and found the resemblance to be remarkable. In fact, visiting it in VR while in my office induced such a strong feeling of presence that I tried to walk through my virtual kitchen, and thus bumped straight into my office wall. As someone who has been using positionally-tracked VR for well over a decade, I thought the days of mistaking the virtual for real like this were far behind me. But I was wrong. And it's a testament to just how realistic Hyperscape scans can feel, especially for places you're familiar with in reality, even in this lower quality on-device version.

Meta says it's still "rolling out" the Hyperscape sharing and social update, and keep in mind that any scans you make before your headset gets it won't be able to be shared or visited. Once you do get the update though, be sure to give it a try, as the ability to scan, share, and co-inhabit realistic reconstructions of real-world spaces with headsets that go on sale for as little as $200 is a truly remarkable technological achievement.

Smash Eat Grow Offers An Edible PvP Playground On Quest In Early Access

Smash Eat Grow, a free-to-play VR multiplayer playground where you eat opponents to win, enters early access today on Quest.

Originally announced in September, Smash Eat Grow is a family-friendly title by XR Games (BEATABLE) and Obstinate where you play as hungry alien creatures called Smashers causing havoc across a fully destructible Earth. Eating objects lets you grow larger, and you'll eventually grow big enough to consume your rivals to become the biggest player on the map.

Completing matches earns BUX, which can be used to unlock new cosmetics and enter tournaments. As for its early access roadmap, both developers previously advised there's an ongoing roadmap to further expand Smash Eat Grow that includes additional maps, game modes, Smashers, powers, and customizations.

Elaborating further in a new statement, Storm Griffith, Obstinate's CEO and founder, advised a holiday update is in the works. This upcoming update promises new Smasher abilities, further cosmetic customizations, more biomes, and private friend lobbies. An exact release date is currently unconfirmed, though we know it's launching in December.

Smash Eat Grow is out now in early access on the wider Meta Quest platform.

Noctua confirms current coolers will support upcoming Intel LGA1954 socket

One of the recurring frustrations for PC builders is the frequency of socket changes, which often renders expensive cooling hardware obsolete or requires the sourcing of new mounting brackets. However, Noctua has quietly confirmed that owners of its current air coolers can breathe a sigh of relief regarding Intel's future platforms.

Spotted by @momomo_us (via VideoCardz), an update to the official Noctua support FAQ explicitly states that all of its CPU coolers currently compatible with LGA1700 and LGA1851 will also be compatible with Intel's upcoming LGA1954 socket. The Austrian cooling company clarified that no additional mounting components are required, as the installation process will remain identical to the existing mechanism used for the last few generations.

Remember that the LGA1954 socket is claimed to be used by Intel's “Nova Lake-S” desktop processors, which are currently expected to be released in late 2026 at the earliest.

This is welcome news, particularly given the reportedly short lifespan of the current LGA1851 socket. While that platform only recently launched with Arrow Lake, and is expected to see a refresh announced at CES in January, Intel is already working on its successor. For those who have invested in premium Noctua hardware, this confirmation ensures their coolers will remain viable well into the Nova Lake era. Hopefully, other brands will follow suit.

Splash Damage to undergo more layoffs following split from Tencent

Splash Damage has had a rough time in recent years. The company had joined Tencent as part of the Chinese conglomerate's push into the western videogame market. After Splash Damage's promising Transformers game was cancelled earlier this year, the company took steps to split off from Tencent but unfortunately, the company's financials are still in rough shape, so further redundancies are expected.

Splash Damage is a UK-based games studio, best known for games like Brink, Dirty Bomb, Gears Tactics and more. After the cancellation of Transformers: Reactivate back in January, the company moved to split off from Tencent with the help of unnamed private equity firms. Unfortunately, with new major cash injection on the horizon from a new game release, Splash Damage is now being forced to undertake more cost-cutting measures.

As noted by Eurogamer, the last game that Splash Damage successfully shipped was Outcasters, which was an exclusive to the now defunct Google Stadia cloud gaming platform. Staff were informed of company-wide layoffs at the studio earlier this week and now, Splash Damage has released its public statement, saying:

“This was a difficult step for us to take, but we believe it is necessary so Splash Damage can remain agile and adaptable in what has been a very challenging market”.

While there will be redundancies, the company says it is “exploring every option to retain talent and making sure those affected have meaningful support throughout”.

KitGuru Says: It is a real shame that Transformers: Reactivate got cancelled. The game looked promising and likely would have been shipping in the next year or so after extensive development.

Microsoft may finally be working on COD for Switch 2

In the lead up to Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the company had to fight for regulatory approvals, forcing the company to hand out 10-year agreements to the likes of Nintendo and Sony, promising that Call of Duty would be available on their respective platforms for at least ten years. So far, Call of Duty has not returned to Nintendo consoles, but new job listings hint that progress is now being made. 

As spotted by Insider Gaming, a new job listing for a Senior Technical Artist at Sledgehammer Games specifically calls for developers with “AAA mobile or Switch experience”, indicating that Microsoft is finally working on bringing future COD games to the Switch 2 console.

This is a big step for Call of Duty, as the series has had little presence on Nintendo platforms. In fact, the last COD title to release on a Nintendo console was Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Wii U, and that was all the way back in 2013.

Currently, Sledgehammer is believed to be in charge of developing COD 2027, with Infinity Ward taking the reins in 2026, presumably with a new Modern Warfare game. It is unclear if COD 2026 will skip the Switch 2 like Black Ops 7 has, but at the very least, we know that COD 2027 should be on Nintendo's console.

If they want a shot at getting the masses to download it, they may need to do something about the file size, as the Switch 2 only has 256GB of internal storage, and some past COD titles have demanded around 200GB of storage on platforms like PC.

World of Warcraft: Midnight is launching a little later than expected

In recent weeks, a number of leaks have claimed that the next expansion for World of Warcraft, Midnight, will release in late February 2026. Now with the recent beta test concluded, Blizzard has announced the date officially – and it will be a week later than originally anticipated.

World of Warcraft: Midnight is officially launching on March 2nd 2026, a week later than earlier leaks had claimed. The new expansion will introduce four more levelling zones for players to explore, alongside eight dungeons, three new raids and for the very first time in WoW history, player housing.

World of Warcraft: Midnight is the second chapter of the Worldsoul Saga, taking players back to Quel’Thalas and Silvermoon City to defend the Sunwell against Xal’atath and her Devouring Host. This expansion will also introduce a new Alliance-bound race to the game, the Haranir. Demon Hunters will also get a new specialisation to spec in to.

If Blizzard keeps up its current release cadence, then the third and final part to the Worldsoul Saga, titled The Last Titan, should release around late 2027 / early 2028.

Nintendo has made a rare studio acquisition

Nintendo rarely makes acquisitions and when it does, it tends to pick up smaller studios that have previously worked on its own franchises. The case is no different here, with Nintendo announcing that it is acquiring Bandai Namco Studios Singapore. 

No, Nintendo isn't acquiring all of Bandai Namco, but it is buying the company's Singapore-based studio. Previously, Nintendo has contracted this studio for work on games like Splatoon 3, Pokémon Snap (2021) and they even worked on early versions of Metroid Prime 4 before development moved over to Nintendo's own Retro Studios.

The acquisition will take place in two phases, with Nintendo buying 80% of shares in April 2026, followed by the remaining 20% some months later. The studio will also be renamed as Nintendo Studios Singapore.

In recent years, Nintendo has made a handful of acquisitions, although not nearly as many as the likes of Microsoft and Sony. Since 2020, the company has bought Next Level Games, who worked on Luigi's Mansion 3, as well as another long-time partner studio, SRD. It also now wholly owns Monolith Soft, the company behind the Xenoblade RPGs, and it picked up Dynamo Pictures, rebranded as Nintendo Pictures, although that company is more focused on Nintendo's movie ambitions rather than games.

KitGuru Says: Nintendo has had a close working relationship with Bandai Namco over the course of the Switch generation. That no doubt played a role in getting this acquisition over the line.

Acer slashes prices across desktop PCs and gaming monitors for Black Friday

Acer has rolled out more Black Friday deals ahead of tomorrow's big day, slashing prices by up to £200. The new deals focus on gaming monitors, as well as fully built desktop PCs.

The Nitro N20 desktop, equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor and 16GB of RAM, is now available at AO for £799.99, reduced from £999.99. This system brings RTX 5060 graphics into a more accessible price bracket, offering ray-traced gaming and accelerated performance for creative workloads. Amazon is listing an enhanced version of the Nitro N20 with a larger 1TB SSD at £849.99, down from £1,049.99.

Currys is offering the Acer Aspire XC101 at £449.99, down from £549.99. This compact desktop tower is designed for essential home-office and family tasks, with an Intel Core i5 processor and 512GB SSD. You will only have integrated graphics to rely on here, so it isn't a ‘gaming class' machine, but it should be good for everyday essentials like browsing, typing up homework and storing photos. The Aspire C24 is another good option for these kind of tasks, packing a Core i5 CPU, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD into a sleek all-in-one system for £499.

Monitor deals include the Nitro XF240YM3biiph, a 24-inch Full HD display with a 180Hz refresh rate, available at AO for £74, reduced from £129.99. Its compact size and lightweight design make it a budget-friendly choice for smooth gaming or as a secondary display.

Argos is selling the Nitro KG241Y X1bmiipx, a 23.8-inch esports-focused monitor with a 200Hz refresh rate, for £69.99, down from £119.99. Targeted at competitive players, it delivers fast response times and fluid motion ideal for titles such as Fortnite, Valorant and Rocket League.

Finally, AO has discounted the Nitro XF270M3biiph, a 27-inch Full HD monitor, to £94.99 from £159.99. This one is for those who want a larger display, but don't have the horsepower to drive games at 180Hz in QHD or 4K resolutions.

Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 dev teams continue to grow

CD Projekt Red has been steadily growing out its teams in recent years as it expands into a true multi-project studio. Over the past few months, the company has hired around 50 more developers, growing out the teams for both Cyberpunk 2 and The Witcher 4. 

CD Projekt Red's Q3 earnings report is now live and as usual, the company included a graphic detailing how many developers it has assigned to each of its upcoming games. At this point, there are over 850 developers working across CDPR's studios. More than half of them are working on The Witcher 4, which is the game ‘closest' to release, although it is still unlikely to release before 2028.

The Cyberpunk 2 team has also grown in recent months, with 135 developers now working on the game. Cyberpunk 2 has not yet entered full production, but the team has been scaling up, indicating that good progress is being made on laying the groundwork for the sequel. If all goes well, Cyberpunk 2 should be in the full swing of production by the time The Witcher 4 comes out, which should hopefully reduce wait times between projects.

Project Sirius and Project Hadar are two smaller-scale games being worked on. One of them is a remake of The Witcher 1, allowing the game to be released on consoles for the first time ever. However, we do not know what the other game is.

KitGuru Says: CD Projekt Red appears to be managing its new multi-project approach well. Assuming everything remains on track, we could potentially see both The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 within a few years of each other. This would be a huge improvement, as we had to wait more than five years between the releases of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 – if you were one of the people that waited for Cyberpunk to be ‘fixed' before playing, then you would have waited over seven years between releases.

Paradox takes the blame for disappointing Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 didn't exactly land well with fans of the original game. Now, publisher Paradox Interactive is taking responsibility after reporting weak sales numbers. 

As part of its latest quarterly earnings report, Paradox CEO, Fredrik Wester, addressed the situation with Bloodlines 2, saying that while they had “high expectations” for the game, ultimately the sales didn't match the company's projections. Wester says they are “pleased with the developers' work on the game” and that “the responsibility fully lies with us”.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was first announced in 2019 and was supposed to release in 2020. However, the game had an extremely troubled development cycle, which led to the original studio in charge of it being booted of the project. The Chinese Room took over development in the end and did the best they could with a bad hand, but even they felt that the game they were making wasn't truly ‘Bloodlines 2‘.

While the game has been disappointing both commercially and critically, IGN notes that Paradox remains committed to the two expansions announced and sold as part of the game's Premium Edition. If a Bloodlines 3 ever happens, it is likely to be given to another developer with more RPG expertise under a licensing agreement, rather than developed in-house.

KitGuru Says: Paradox is primarily known for its strategy games nowadays, so Bloodlines 2 landing with them always felt like an odd choice. Hopefully future updates and expansions can improve the game a bit, but fans hoping for a true follow-up to the cult classic Bloodlines RPG will have to wait and hope that someone else steps up for a third game.

GeForce Now adds seven more games this week and completes global RTX 5080 rollout

GeForce Now is adding support for seven more games this week. The headliner is Of Ash and Steel, a brand new release this week that will launch straight onto the RTX 5080-powered servers. 

Most of 2025's biggest titles are available via GeForce Now, complete with the RTX 5080 upgrade, which has been rolling out across the world over the past few months. This week, another title joins the RTX 5080 servers –  Of Ash and Steel, a gritty RPG with branching faction storylines and over 45 hours of narrative content, putting players on a journey to grow from a humble map maker into a legendary hero.

The full list of new games joining the GeForce Now library this week includes:

  • Of Ash and Steel (New release on Steam, Nov. 24, GeForce RTX 5080-ready)
  • Kill It With Fire (Xbox, available on PC Game Pass, Nov. 25)
  • Project Motor Racing (New release on Steam, Nov. 25)
  • Brotato (Steam)
  • Cricket 26 (Steam)
  • GODBREAKERS (Steam)
  • Zero Hour (Epic Games Store)

On top of the new games announced this week, Nvidia has also announced that RTX 5080 servers are now available in Stockholm, the final server on the list, meaning RTX 5080 servers are now officially available in all supported regions.

Grasshopper Manufacture announces showcase event focusing on ‘Romeo Is a Dead Man’

Grasshopper Manufacture has confirmed it will broadcast its third ‘Grasshopper Direct' next week, with the presentation set to focus primarily on its upcoming action title, Romeo Is a Dead Man.

The broadcast is scheduled to air on the studio’s official YouTube channel on Friday, December 5th, at 10 AM JST (1 AM BST). According to the press release, the showcase will provide a behind-the-scenes look at development and reveal new gameplay.

The title, which was first teased during a State of Play earlier this year, is described as a hyperviolent sci-fi action game. Grasshopper Manufacture is marketing it as their “bloodiest action game yet”, featuring a combat system that blends firearms and swordplay.

The narrative premise follows the protagonist, Romeo, who is recruited as an interdimensional special agent after a near-death experience coincides with a rupture in the space-time continuum. As an agent, players will be tasked with hunting down wanted criminals across these fractured dimensions. Romeo Is a Dead Man is currently targeting a 2026 release window and is confirmed for launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Quest's Horizon OS v83 brings System Positional TimeWarp (SysPTW) and Temporal Dimming as experimental features, as well as improved scene understanding.

A test version of v83 started rolling out to the Horizon OS Public Test Channel (PTC) last month, testing these features and the evolved 'Navigator' system UI, which remains experimental. Now, a month later, a stable build of v83 is rolling out to all supported Quest headsets.

Meta's rollouts happen gradually, so it may take a few days or even weeks for your headset to get the v83 update. Further, Meta rolls out some features separately from the main update itself, so even having the v83 update doesn't guarantee having everything listed here yet.

Read on for a rundown of the key changes Horizon OS v83 brings compared to v81, the previous stable release:

System Positional TimeWarp (SysPTW)

Just before displaying every frame, all major XR operating systems rotationally reproject (warp/skew) it to match the tiny change in orientation of your head since the frame started rendering.

This is done to eliminate the latency you'd otherwise perceive as you pan your head. And when the running app fails to complete rendering a new frame in time for the next display refresh, the previous frame gets rotationally reprojected further instead of just repeating it. This avoids rotational judder, which is sickening in VR.

With Horizon OS v83, Meta has added an experimental setting called System Positional TimeWarp (SysPTW). When enabled, it applies to all apps at all times, extending the system-level reprojection to be positional, not just rotational.

According to Meta, SysPTW "uses real-time scene depth to reduce visual judder and lag when apps drop frames".

"This feature automatically activates when needed and works across all apps, with no impact on regular performance", Meta claims.

Application SpaceWarp (AppSW), the SDK feature developers can enable for their apps to run at half framerate by generating every other frame synthetically, has already had Positional TimeWarp built-in since launching 4 years ago, so AppSW games won't see any changes here.

For apps that don't use AppSW, enabling SysPTW should both reduce positional latency and significantly dampen the positional judder you normally experience when a game drops a frame.

Temporal Dimming

Back in v69, Meta added an experimental option called Content Adaptive Brightness Control (CABC) for Quest 3 headsets, which dynamically dims the backlight of the LCD displays in darker scenes to achieve deeper blacks that are closer to true black than the murky grey typically delivered by LCD.

Now, in v83, Meta has added a second but distinct experimental option called Temporal Dimming for Quest 3 and Quest 3S.

"This feature gradually dims your display brightness during each session, helping reduce eye strain, extend device battery life, and improve display performance—all without noticeable impact on your experience", Meta explains.

Meanwhile, the description of the setting in Horizon OS reads "Dynamically adjusts screen brightness to further reduce power consumption during idle periods, with minimum impact on user experience".

While CABC is very noticeable, with the screen brightness visibly adjusting, from briefly testing Temporal Dimming, it seems to be a far more subtle effect, with brightness seemingly changing over a greater time period.

We'll keep an eye on whether Meta moves Temporal Dimming out of Experimental in future releases, something it hasn't yet done for CABC. Meta may even make it the default eventually, with the aim of getting the most out of its plain LCD displays.

Improved Scene Understanding

Quest 3 and Quest 3S create a 3D mesh of your room during mixed reality Space Setup. Since launch, Meta's system has been able to infer the positions of your main walls, floor, and ceiling from this 3D mesh, and since v64 it has also generated labeled bounding boxes for doors, windows, beds, tables, sofas, storage (cabinets, shelves, etc.), and screens (TVs and monitors).

Quest developers can access these bounding boxes using Meta's Scene API and use them to automatically place virtual content. For example, they could place a tabletop gameboard on the largest table in the room, replace your windows with portals, or depict your TV in a fully VR game so you don't punch it.

Now, with Horizon OS v83, Meta says Space Setup will also incorporate "more complex architectural elements like multi-height floors, slanted ceilings, and inner walls".

Smartphone App Login For The Web

A significant drawback of Meta's Horizon OS compared to Apple's visionOS and Google's Android XR is that its default web browser isn't available on traditional device platforms. On Samsung Galaxy XR you'll have access to all your Chrome passwords and bookmarks, and on Apple Vision Pro you'll get the same for Safari – but the Horizon OS browser is only available on Quest.

The Horizon OS browser does have LastPass, and Meta is gradually rolling out Bitwarden, NordPass, Proton Pass, and Dashlane to it too, but switching to a supported password manager is a big ask for your VR headset.

Now, with Horizon OS v83, Meta says you can log into "certain websites" via your phone by sending a link to the Meta Horizon smartphone app.

Currently supported websites include "Roblox and Tiktok", Meta says, without disclosing exactly how other web developers can implement this, or whether it's based on a web standard.

Starvault, a competitive 5v5 VR shooter with MOBA elements, enters full release today on Quest.

Previously available in early access, Starvault by Theia Games is a first-person team-based game that aims to mix gameplay mechanics from hero shooters and MOBAs (multiplayer online battle arenas). Set in a sci-fi fantasy universe, this takes place across 5v5 battles where you pick one of 12 champions with varying weapons, abilities, and playstyles.

Set across large battlefields, this involves pushing through enemy lanes as you capture vision obelisks to gain map control before eventually taking down the opposing team's Energy Core. Defeating enemies and clearing camps awards experience points and credits, which can then be used for unlocking abilities or buying artifacts.

Regarding what's new with the Version 1.0 launch, Theia Games didn't elaborate on specifics before today's launch. The studio confirmed that it'll remain free-to-play with the full release, and it's getting a “full Battle Pass system” with more cosmetics. Promised improvements were also mentioned for stability, progression, and “overall gameplay feel.”

We had positive impressions when the open beta originally launched, believing Theia Games was “taking steps in the right direction to find its audience.” We criticized its lack of a memorable soundtrack, and though we've yet to see if that's been addressed with the full release, we considered Starvault to be a “valiant effort” making effective use of VR.

Starvault enters full release today on the wider Meta Quest platform, while a PC VR release is also planned in Q1 2026.

Thermaltake has unveiled the Minecube 360 Ultra ARGB Sync, a new all-in-one liquid cooler that takes the current trend of integrated LCDs to a new level. Available in both black and white editions, the cooler features a patented “Quad-LCD Cube Display” that sits atop the CPU block, turning the pump housing into a four-sided digital centrepiece.

The highlight of the Minecube 360 Ultra is the cube display, which consists of four separate 3.95-inch TFT LCD panels, each boasting a resolution of 720 x 720. Through the TT LCD Screen Software, users can configure each panel independently to show real-time system statistics, images, or animations, or combine them to create a single, continuous wraparound visual effect. The software supports a wide range of formats, including JPG, GIF, MP4, and AVI.

To handle thermal loads, the Minecube 360 Ultra is equipped with three of Thermaltake's Swafan EX12 ARGB Sync fans that operate at up to 2000 RPM. These units feature the company's swappable fan blade design, allowing builders to switch the airflow direction without physically turning the fan frame around. Connectivity is handled by the MagForce 2.0 magnetic interface, which uses larger contact pads to ensure a secure, cable-free daisy-chain connection between fans.

The cooling loop itself utilises a 27mm thin radiator connected to a pump with a polished copper base and an embedded 3500 RPM VRM fan used to cool the motherboard power delivery components surrounding the CPU socket.

KitGuru says: With so many AIO liquid coolers with LCDs out there, it's hard to stand out from the competition. Thermaltake has found a great solution to that by adding more LCDs to the equation.

Multiple Yakuza games are being delisted ahead of their remasters

SEGA / RGG Studio's Yakuza (Like a Dragon) franchise has only grown in popularity over the years, thanks in part to the release of the prequel Yakuza 0 back in 2015. Following the announcement of a Nintendo Switch port, Yakuza 0 was confirmed to be getting a remaster across all systems early next month. In an unfortunate announcement however, SEGA has now revealed that the original version of Yakuza 0 is set to be delisted in the wake of the Director’s Cut’s release.

Making the announcement via a lengthy Twitter post, the team at RGG Studio confirmed that the original version of Yakuza 0 will be delisted from digital stores following the arrival of the Director’s Cut on the 8th of December, writing:

“Yakuza 0 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam will no longer be available for new purchases from December 8th at 08:30 am PST. Those who get Yakuza 0 by 08:29 am PST on December 8th can continue to download and play the title.”

Curiously, while Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2 remasters are also set to arrive on the same day, the originals appear to be staying purchasable for now, with one exception: “The Windows 10 versions of Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will no longer be available for new purchases on the MS Store after December 8th, 09:00 am PST.”

Of course, a game being delisted is always disappointing to see, even if a remaster is being released to replace it. That said, regardless of whether you enjoy the new English voice acting added with the Director’s Cut, having a native current-gen version of the game is welcome to see. Bloober Team’s Cronos: The New Dawn has officially sold half a million copies

Starting off as a bit of a mixed bag of a developer, Bloober Team have slowly but surely proven themselves in the horror genre, with the recent release of Silent Hill 2 Remake in particular showcasing their chops. Even without the Silent Hill name however, the team have shown that they understand the genre, with their new original IP Cronos: The New Dawn having now sold over half a million copies.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the devs at Bloober Team confirmed that “500 000 Travelers are already paving the path through the unforgiving world, distorted between timelines! Here's to another incredible milestone for #CronosNewDawn — thank you from the bottom of our hearts! The vocation continues!”

For the uninitiated, Cronos: The New Dawn is a 3rd person survival horror experience in which players must “survive the brutal wastelands of the future, fight nightmarish merging creatures and jump back in time to harvest souls as you seek to uncover the origins of the apocalypse that wiped out humanity.”

Released in September of this year, the game saw solid reviews from critics, though stronger praise from players themselves owing to its unique atmosphere and vibes.

While Cronos: The New Dawn still has a ways ahead of it if it wants to surpass Silent Hill 2 Remake’s 2.5 million copies sold, half a million in just a few months represents a strong start to a brand new horror IP. Hopefully Bloober Team continue to hone their craft.

Launched in early access last year on Steam, Bootstrap Island is a 17th-century survival game where you play as Daniel, a castaway who's become stranded on a tropical island. Featuring a reactive roguelike environment with different biomes, a day-and-night cycle, shelter building, progression systems, and more, that's now heading to PS VR2 in 2026.

Revealing more about this upcoming port on PlayStation Blog, developer Maru VR detailed its planned PlayStation VR2-specific features. Bootstrap Island will use eye tracking for foveated rendering, headset haptic feedback during storms and near-death encounters, and adaptive trigger support for your weapons.

Today's news follows this month's PC VR launch of the Visions update, which marks Bootstrap Island's last major update before next year's full release. This introduced a new sickness and hallucinations system that warps reality as the illness spreads, a story-driven tutorial that reveals more about Daniel's backstory, new environmental features, and more.

Bootstrap Island: Visions is now live on Steam Early Access, with a full release targeting Q1 2026. The PlayStation VR2 edition will follow “in 2026,” though it's unclear if this will arrive simultaneously with the PC VR edition's full release.

Though we've known since its initial announcement that a PlayStation VR2 port was coming, developer Fireproof Games (The Room VR) has now confirmed a release date via social media. However, it's unclear if this upcoming port will use PS VR2-specific features like adaptive triggers and eye tracking. We've contacted the studio, and we'll update this article if we learn more.

We had high praise for Fireproof's latest in our Ghost Town review back in April. Calling it “an utterly engrossing supernatural VR adventure,” we awarded it 4.5/5 stars and later revisited the game following July's PC VR launch.

It's not a stretch to say that Ghost Town is one of the best VR games so far this year. Fireproof Games has delivered a worthy spiritual successor to The Room VR that employs a similarly strong level of VR interactivity, backed up by great visuals on Quest 3, a thoroughly engrossing supernatural narrative and intuitive puzzles.

Ghost Town is out now on Quest and SteamVR, while the PlayStation VR2 release arrives on December 1.
