Walking back one of its own predictions, Bloomberg now says that no new hardware will be announced at 2024's Worldwide Developer's Conference, which kicks off on June 10th. It also revised its forecast for the next version of the Apple TV hardware box.

The newsletter had previously said that it expected a new version to arrive in the first half of 2024. This would include an upgraded processor from the current model's A15 Bionic.

Hit-and-run driver busted by AirPod lost after cyclist crashed through window

A bicyclist's fortuitous AirPod bounce after a terrible crash helped police track down a hit-and-run driver.

A New York Times report told the story of 15-year-old Lochlan Nicol of Jensen Beach, Florida, who rode his bike to a gas station on the evening of May 22nd, 2024 to get some ice cream. An SUV suddenly turning into the station's driveway caused the teen to crash, with Nicol's head going through the rear-passenger window.

During the accident, one of the boy's AirPods fell out and into the SUV, lodging itself under a floor mat. The driver did stop briefly, but only to move the unconscious and seriously injured Nicol out of the road before fleeing the scene.

Apple's new M2 iPad Air has a nine-core GPU, despite original claims to the contrary

Apple has quietly changed the M2 iPad Air's listed GPU core count from 10 cores to nine cores, and Metal benchmark testing suggests that the nine-core spec is accurate.

Apple has corrected the GPU core count in the M2 iPad Air's description.

The M2 iPad Air was originally announced as having a 10-core GPU in its initial press release on May 7, 2024. The press release has remained uncorrected, as has an iPad Air support page, and all listings for the product in Apple Stores outside the US as of June 1, 2024.

The correction, first spotted by 9to5 Mac, on Saturday is likely to be the true core count, with the original specs having strangely been in error. Geekbench's Metal benchmark testing of the M2 iPad Air shows a score of 41,095, compared to the M2 iPad Pro's 10-core GPU, which rates a score of 45,195.

Five Chinese nationals living in the Los Angeles area were apprehended on May 30th, 2024. Yang Song, Junwei Jiang, Zhengxuan Hu, Yushan Lin, and Shuyi Xing will be tried on charges of aggravated identity theft, conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit goods, and conspiracy to commit wire fraud and mail fraud.

The holiday shopping season is an important one for many companies, including Apple. However, the following quarter is when launch and holiday sales start to slip, which research from Counterpoint seemingly indicates.

New emoji in iOS 18, iPad Pro, and patented Apple Store trees, on the AppleInsider Podcast

Apple is slowly adding more to watch on Apple Vision Pro, it's gearing up for AI, emoji, and more at WWDC, and yet another Apple Store has opened — but it's made out of Lego.

It may never go on sale, but this Lego Apple store is a joy

The new Lego Apple store is a thing of joy, but it's unlikely to ever go on general sale because Apple has even patented how it uses trees in its retail stores. That's the level of detail — not to mention control — that Apple goes to.

Which is definitely also easy to see in the company's latest immersive video for the Apple Vision Pro. Yet as impressive as each individual release is, there's still not very much of it.

Real and fake AirPods Pro

The wild popularity of Apple's AirPods line has led to many counterfeits being produced and sold to unwitting users. Expecting premium personal audio hardware, the customers often end up with poor quality and sometimes dangerous copies, with little recourse.

Sometimes, the victim doesn't know they've been duped until they are told by someone else. In one TikTok user's case, that happened inside an Apple Store.

While Apple has confirmed that the Apple Vision Pro will launch in China before the end of 2024, there have been no formal announcements of when the headset will launch anywhere outside the US. Many rumors have specified dates that have since passed without a launch, but now a French source believes it has an accurate schedule.

According to WatchGeneration, staff in France have been told that what it describes (in translation) as an "all stores meeting" will take place early in the week beginning Monday, June 24, 2024. It's a meeting to discuss, at least in part, a "big novelty."

If you are routinely sharing your Mac with someone else, it might be best to set up a second administrator or just a Standard user account for them. For short-term access, for visitors as an example, you can create a Guest User account.

Doing so allows limited use of your computer without a password needed, or any access to your other accounts. It is important to note that nothing is retained in the Guest User account once the guest logs out.

The early April changes to the App Store Review Guidelines reversed a rule that practically banned emulators from the App Store. After the rule was removed, it was expected that there would be a sudden rush of emulators being submitted to Apple for inclusion in the digital storefront.

In 2021, Jin Xin sued Apple China, insisting Apple stopped charging its 30% App Store commission. Xin also demanded that Chinese consumers should be allowed to use other payment systems than Apple's own, as well as an apology and approximately $15,500 in compensation.

Three years later, the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court sided with Apple, according to a yet-to-be-published judgment received by the South China Morning Post.
