Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro returns in white

Par : João Silva
1 mai 2024 à 14:00

SteelSeries recently unveiled a new white version of its highly acclaimed Arctis Nova Pro Wireless headset. This new headset iteration is similar to its black counterpart but has one significant update to its ANC microphones. While the headset is white, the included DAC/wireless receiver will be black.

The updated ANC microphones in the ear cups have been downsized and now feature a less prominent bump, making the headphones more comfortable to wear. SteelSeries had secretly made this change last year to the original Nova Pro, and now both the black and white versions of the headset benefit from it.

The white Nova Pro comes with all the features of the black version, including two swappable batteries that each last 24 hours with a full charge. The base station is not white due to visibility issues for the LED display. The dial on the base station has been designed to match the accents of the white Nova Pro.

Depending on the version, the base station is compatible with both Xbox and PC or PlayStation and PC. The Nova Pro also features SteelSeries' Sonar audio software, which uses AI for noise-cancellation. The Nova Pro is also Bluetooth-compatible, making it an excellent choice for work and play. The new Arctis Nova Pro wireless white headsets are available now, priced at £329.99/$349.99/€379.99.

Corsair introduces new 30mm thick RS Max series fans

Par : João Silva
1 mai 2024 à 14:45

Corsair has launched its most powerful fans yet. The new 120mm and 140mm RS Max series fans utilise an extra-thick design, making them ideal for use cases where high air pressure is essential.

Engineered with 30mm thickness and bigger fan blades, enhanced by AirGuide technology, the RS Max series offers a 20% increase in thickness over regular fans. This means it can spin at a lower speed while producing the same airflow as its thinner counterparts, reducing total fan noise.

The RS Max series fans are made of LCP (liquid crystal polymer) and have bigger blades that create higher static pressure, powering airflow past blockages and thick radiators. As such, they're suitable for custom liquid cooling configurations. The series also features Corsair Magnetic Dome bearings, dramatically reducing friction, increasing lifespan and reducing operating noise.

The RS Max series fans connect to the system via a simple 4-pin PWM connection, allowing for an accurate change of fan speeds without needing a separate controller. The series is now available in 120mm (single, two-pack, and three-pack) and 140mm (single and two-pack) diameters with a five-year warranty. The 120mm fan packs start at £37.89, and the 140mm packs are priced at £43.31.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru says: With their 30mm thickness, the Corsair RS Max 120mm fans will compete against other LCP fans like the Lian Unifan P28 and Phanteks T30. However, while these are limited to 120mm models, the RS Max series also includes 140mm LCP fans with 30mm thickness, making it one of the few fans like this currently on the market.

Studio behind ‘Deliver Us the Moon’ and ‘Deliver Us Mars’ lays off all staff

1 mai 2024 à 16:15

KeokeN Interactive, the studio behind recent Sci-Fi games Deliver Us the Moon and Deliver Us Mars, has had to lay off its entire staff after struggling to get funding for new projects.

Both games have positive reviews on Steam and also got an extra marketing boost from Nvidia thanks to the inclusion of RTX features. Unfortunately, it would seem that these games did not sell well enough to keep the studio afloat for its next project.

The studio made the announcement on social media this afternoon, with CEO, Koen Deetman, and Managing Director, Paul Deetman, saying:

“Heartbroken, we've had to lay off our team at KeokeN because of nothing substantial materializing directly after our visit to GDC. We’ve unfortunately exhausted all our possible options for publishing, work for hire, and co-development. It is our utmost priority to make sure our lovely team finds a new home somewhere else, so if you have any positions available in Programming, Tech Art, Porting, Level Design, Audio, Animation, Production, Office Management, contact us, so that we can introduce you to the very best people who have been at the heart of KeokeN over the past 10 years.”

The pair in charge of KeokeN do hope to ‘rebuild' the studio eventually, but there is no telling when that may happen. Given that the company was struggling to find new partnerships, it could take quite some time.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: Did any of you play the Deliver Us games? I've only played Deliver Us the Moon so far, but the second game has been on my radar for a while.

Microsoft’s secret ‘gameplay deep-dive’ stream is for Call of Duty

1 mai 2024 à 17:00

Yesterday, Microsoft officially confirmed its plans for the next Xbox summer showcase. Like last year, this year's big stream will be a two-parter, with a second stream offering a lengthy deep-dive into a new game “in a beloved franchise”. At the time, we noted that the teaser image resembled Call of Duty's usual style. Now, sources claim this deep-dive stream will indeed be for Call of Duty and not one of Microsoft's other upcoming games like Gears 6 or Avowed.

Sources familiar with the plan told The Verge that the “REDACTED” deep-dive stream after the main showcase will focus on Call of Duty. Previous rumours have suggested that a new Black Ops game is due out this year. Reports had also claimed that unlike previous announcements, this year's COD game will not be announced in a Warzone event. That lines up well with Microsoft's stream plans.

Microsoft largely dominated the Xbox 360 generation thanks to the popularity of Call of Duty, mixed with Microsoft's exclusive marketing deal at the time. Microsoft lost that deal during the PS4 generation, when Call of Duty switched to PS4 for its console marketing partnership. With Microsoft spending over $70 billion on acquiring Activision Blizzard last year, we can be sure that they plan to leverage their ownership of Call of Duty in some form, albeit not through any form of exclusive in-game content.

Aside from a new Call of Duty game, this year's Xbox Showcase should also feature news on Starfield's Shattered Space DLC, which is due out around the game's one-year anniversary, and a new Gears of War title is also expected to be announced. Additionally, we are expecting to see updates on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, as well as Obsidian's upcoming fantasy RPG, Avowed.

Tomb Raider headlines new wave of Xbox Game Pass titles

1 mai 2024 à 17:28

The first wave of Xbox Game Pass titles for May 2024 have been announced. Unfortunately, it is a pretty minimal update this time around, featuring just four games.

The headlining game in this update is Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, which is very old at this point. Still, if you've never played it, or don't own it on PC or Xbox, then it is now available through Game Pass, so feel free to dive in. While the game is old, the whole modern Tomb Raider trilogy is fantastic, with the first game in particular being a highlight with its action-packed campaign centred on a mysterious island cult.

Here is the full list of titles coming to Game Pass over the next couple of weeks:

  • Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition (Cloud, Console and PC) – May 2nd
  • Kona II: Brume (Cloud, Console and PC) – May 7th
  • Little Kitty, Big City: Cloud, Console and PC) – May 9th
  • Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (Cloud, Console and PC) – May 14th

On the 15th of May, eight games will be leaving Game Pass, including; Eastern Exorcist, Eiyuden Chronicle Rising, Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2, Ghostlore, Just Cause 4, Norco, SD Gundam Battle Alliance and Supraland Six Inches Under.

KitGuru Says: May is an odd month in the yearly calendar for Game Pass, as Microsoft likes to save the biggest announcements for its annual Xbox Showcase in June.

Blizzard details Diablo IV Season 4: Loot Reborn

1 mai 2024 à 17:50

Blizzard has been hyping up Diablo IV's upcoming fourth season for months at this point. Now, a couple of weeks ahead of the launch, the development team have published a massive blog post detailing many of the major changes coming to the game. With the main theme of this season being the major loot and itemisation overhauls, this season will be titled Season 4: Loot Reborn.

This season will undoubtedly be the most meaningful update to Diablo IV since launch, in large part thanks to massive, permanent changes to several core systems for both the Seasonal and Eternal realms. For starters, many useless item stats have been removed from the game, cutting down the pool of stat rolls on new gear to make it easier for players to assess new loot drops. Additionally, a crafting system will allow us to reroll item stats and level up gear to a maximum Masterwork level, with greatly boosted stats over the base item.

The Codex of Power, your in-game collection of imprintable abilities for gear, now updates automatically with the maximum stat roll you've collected. Players will also be able to trade legendary and unique items for the first time.

As for endgame changes, Helltide is going to be significantly updated. From now on, players will generate ‘threat' during a Helltide, based on how many demons they wipe out, or how many Helltide chests you open. With enough threat, you will become Hellmarked, and from there, a new boss enemy will spawn to hunt you down. If you beat them, you'll be greatly rewarded with loot. If you die, well then you've got to go back to square one. Another new endgame challenge is called The Pit, in which players must beat a set number of monsters and a boss within a time limit. The Pit will be where players go to farm Masterworking materials to finetune their gear.

If you are sick of farming Duriel for uber uniques, you'll now be able to spice the grind up a bit with a new fight against Andariel, which will offer similar rewards.

The full blog post goes into great detail on many of these changes, so if you are planning on jumping back into Diablo next season, be sure to give it a read.

Surprise – a new Batman: Arkham game is on the way this year

1 mai 2024 à 18:00

Rocksteady has not had a great year, with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League falling off faster than almost any high-budget ‘live-service' game. At this point, the game is averaging just hundreds of concurrent players on Steam, despite new seasonal content being added. However, fans will be pleased to know that the Batman: Arkham series isn't entirely dead.

Batman: Arkham Shadow is due to come out in ‘late 2024' and trailer is due to be shown at Summer Game Fest, which kicks off on the 7th of June. Unlike Batman: Arkham VR, a small tech-demo style game developed by Rocksteady, Batman: Arkham Shadow is developed by VR studio, Camouflaj, in collaboration with Oculus Studios. As a result, the game will be exclusive to the Meta Quest 3.

The cinematic trailer seems to indicate that we will indeed be walking and gliding around the streets of Gotham, and the swarm of rats shown in the trailer hints at the presence of Ratcatcher, a lesser-known Batman villain who has appeared in the comics, as well as the TV show ‘Gotham', and Batman Beyond.

During the trailer, we also see Batman drop a smoke grenade, so we'll have access to at least a few of his gadgets, although we are unlikely to have as many as the main Arkham games.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: It might not be a new Rocksteady game, but at this point, that honestly might be better. If this is a legitimate Batman adventure and not a string of mini-games designed to show off tech, then it could end up being a very compelling VR release.

Helldivers 2 already 7th highest-grossing PlayStation game in the US thanks to PC

2 mai 2024 à 10:00

Back in February, Arrowhead Studios hit it big with Helldivers 2, reaching the top of both the Steam and PlayStation charts. In the months since, the team have continuously updated the game with new and free content. It therefore comes as little surprise that Helldivers 2 has already become the 7th highest-grossing game in PlayStation first-party history in the US.

While neither Arrowhead nor Sony have shared any concrete sales figures for Helldivers 2, the game broke records for concurrent players, chart listings and more. As such, it was safe to assume that the title had already made a ton of money since its release back in February.

Confirming this, industry analyst Mat Piscatella took to Twitter to reveal “PC has been a huge part of the success of Helldivers II in the US. With PC, Helldivers II is already the 7th highest grossing Sony published game in history” adding that “without PC it wouldn't currently rank among the top 20.”

The US is of course a huge market for Sony, making this achievement even more notable. Adding further emphasis on the impact of the day-one PC launch, Piscatella stated “according to Circana's Player Engagement Tracker, Helldivers II has ranked first in US MAU on Steam each month since launch (including April).”

All in all, it’s safe to assume that Sony won’t be changing its strategy on bringing live service games to PC alongside PlayStation – a great thing indeed.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Helldivers’ success? Is it repeatable? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Ghostrunner 2, Tunic and more coming to PS Plus Essential

2 mai 2024 à 11:00

As they do each month, Sony gives away a number of titles to all those with a PlayStation Plus subscription. Available to keep forever and play as long as you are actively subscribed, May’s monthly PS Plus titles have now been revealed.

Making the announcement on the PlayStation Blog, the Director of Content Acquisition & Operations at SIE ‘Adam Michel’ said: “May 7 kicks off a new, oversized PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup! From that day PlayStation Plus members will have four new titles available to add to their game libraries.”

With that, the 4 games in question are:

  • EA Sports FC 24 (PS4|5)
  • Ghostrunner 2 (PS5)
  • Tunic (PS4|5)
  • Destiny 2: Lightfall (PS4|5)

As mentioned, all of these titles will be available to claim from the 7th of May up until the 3rd of June – except for EA Sports FC which will hang around just a bit longer until the 17th of June.

Though an exciting line-up of games is in store, don’t forget to claim April’s PS Plus Essential titles (Immortals of Aveum, Minecraft Legends and Skul: The Hero Slayer) as you still have up until the 6th of May to do so.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the line-up? Which game are you most looking forward to? Did you pick up the original Ghost Runner back when it was on PS Plus? Let us know down below.

Horizon Zero Dawn is leaving PlayStation Plus Extra

2 mai 2024 à 12:00

A couple years ago Sony revamped its PlayStation Plus subscription service with new tiers including PS Plus Extra – which serves essentially like Xbox’s Game Pass. Though day-one first-party additions are absent, a good number of PlayStation games have been added over time. Surprisingly, Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Zero Dawn is actually leaving the service.

Though Sony does not add its first-party games to PS Plus Extra day-and-date like Microsoft does with Xbox Game Pass, most of the games have found their way onto the service eventually – remaining as a permanent addition thereafter.

It therefore comes as a big surprise that one of the games leaving the service is Sony’s own Horizon Zero Dawn, which as reported by PushSquare is set to be removed on the 21st of May.

Being a first-party title (and an older one at that) there is no real reason why Sony would remove the game from the library…unless they plan to announce the rumoured remake soon.

This is what many fans have begun to speculate since the announcement of its removal. We have not had a situation like this in the past, and so it is curious to see Horizon Zero Dawn being removed.

Once The Last of Us Part I is inevitably added to PS Plus Extra, it’ll be interesting to see whether the currently-available TLOU Remastered is taken off.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this move? Is there more going on than meets the eye? Let us know your thoughts down below.

New Starfield update announced, bringing 60fps and a whole lot more

2 mai 2024 à 13:00

Starfield launched in September last year to somewhat mixed reviews, with the perception surrounding the game being increasingly soured as time went on. That said, Todd Howard and the team at Bethesda Game Studios have been cooking a massive update – though one which arguably should’ve been available at launch.

One of the biggest and most obvious criticisms surrounding Starfield was the fact that the game ran at just 30fps on the Xbox Series X, despite Microsoft making much of its earlier console marketing all about the 60fps experience of the Xbox.

Finally, be it through extra work, further optimisation or Bethesda magic, BGS is bringing 60fps to the Xbox Series X, but that’s not all.

Appropriately named the ‘May Update’, this upcoming patch is set to go live on the 15th of May and will bring with it a boatload of enhancements, including but not limited to:

  • New and more customisable difficulty options
  • More detailed surface maps
  • Further interior ship customisation
  • New Game Plus improvements
  • 40fps mode on Xbox Series X
  • 60fps mode on Xbox Series X
  • Uncapped fps + VRR support on Series X
  • Quality of life additions

While undoubtedly a massive update which could be transformative for some, it does beg the question as to why many of these features (especially the 40 and 60fps options) weren’t available at launch – adding further fuel to the notion that buying a game day-one nets you the worst experience for the highest price.

Regardless, these features are highly welcome. The full breakdown of these additions can be found HERE.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the update? Should these have all been there at launch? What compromises do you think were made for the 60fps mode? Let us know down below.

iiyama G-Master G2745QSU-B1 Review (1440p 100Hz)

Par : James Morris
2 mai 2024 à 13:00

Not everyone can afford the best possible gaming features in a monitor. But which areas should you compromise on while still getting the most enjoyable experience for the money? In the case of the G-Master G2745QSU-B1, iiyama has taken the hit on refresh rate in favour of panel quality and resolution. If you're less of a first-person shooter player and more into strategy, this could be a trade-off worth making. We put iiyama's new budget-conscious 27in panel through its paces.

Aside from the 27in screen diagonal, the G2745QSU-B1 has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440, which we think is about right for this panel size. Full HD would be too low, and 4K deserves bigger. iiyama has opted for an IPS panel, a technology that majors on image quality but not always on pixel response rate. A figure of 1ms is quoted, but this is MPRT not grey-to-grey. This panel doesn't use the response-enhancing technology that, for example, Cooler Master calls Ultra-Speed IPS. However, AMD FreeSync is available to provide adaptive refresh rates. So while the G2745QSU-B1 only supports 100Hz, it will adjust this dynamically to match what your graphics card is delivering..

The specification is otherwise mostly as expected for an IPS panel, although the typical brightness of 250cd/m2 is low. Contrast, on the other hand, is a little higher than average at 1,300:1. iiyama doesn't quote any figures for colour gamut, and there are no VESA Display HDR accreditations associated with this screen either.

The range of video inputs only includes HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort 1.2, but you don't need higher levels of either to support the resolution and refresh this monitor has to offer. There's no USB C, but you do get a two-port USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub, plus stereo 2W speakers and a headphone connector. Ergonomic adjustments include tilt, swivel, raise and rotating into portrait mode, so all your bases are covered for pointing the screen in exactly the direction you want.

Overall, the iiyama G-Master G2745QSU-B1 doesn't offer a standout specification, but the price is under £190, which isn't bad for a 27in 1440p screen. So let's find out if iiyama's compromises on capabilities make this good value.

Specification:

  • Screen size: 27-inch, 16:9 aspect
  • Native resolution: 2,560 x 1,440
  • Curvature: None
  • Refresh rate: 100Hz, AMD FreeSync
  • Panel type: IPS
  • Contrast ratio: 1,300:1 (typical)
  • Brightness: 250cd/m2
  • Response time: 1ms MPRT
  • Display inputs: HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2
  • USB hub: Yes, USB Type B input, 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 outputs
  • Tilt: 4 degrees forward, 22 degrees backward
  • Raise: Yes
  • Swivel: 45 degrees left and right
  • Portrait: Yes
  • Other: Audio output minijack, headset minijack, 2 x 2W stereo speakers

HP is updating its monitor lineup with four new IPS Black monitors

Par : João Silva
2 mai 2024 à 09:35

HP is expanding its monitor line-up with four new models. All these monitors belong to the HP Series 7 and feature IPS Black panels, which offer the same benefits as standard IPS displays with enhanced contrast in an effort to get deeper black levels.

Starting with the HP 738pu, it features a 37.5-inch IPS Black display with a resolution of 3440 x 1600 pixels and a 2300R curvature. The panel supports 8-bit+FRC colour bit depth and covers 100% of the sRGB and 98% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. Moreover, it's Pantone-validated and VESA DisplayHDR 400-certified with 400 nits of brightness and a static contrast ratio of 2000:1. The refresh rate is limited to 60 Hz, and the G2G response time is 5 ms with Overdrive.

The HP 738pu includes a Thunderbolt 4 input with USB-C 40G, 100 W power delivery, and DP Alt Mode. There is also a Thunderbolt 4 output for daisy chaining, which delivers 15 W of power. The 738pu also includes a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port with 15 W power delivery, a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port with 65 W power delivery and DP Alt mode, two DisplayPorts 1.4 (one input and another output), an HDMI 2.0 port, five USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, and a LAN port with Wake-on-LAN, PXE Boot, and MAC address pass-through. Lastly, it features Smart KVM and PbP for productivity and HP Display Manager, allowing you to remotely manage the display over an ethernet connection.

The HP 734pm, on the other hand, has a 34-inch diagonal, a 1900R curvature, and a 3440 x 1440 resolution. The panel's colour depth is limited to 8-bit, but it can still cover 100% of the sRGB and 98% of the DCi-P3 colour spaces. Like the 738pu, it's Pantone-validated and has 400 nits of brightness, a 2000:1 contrast ratio, and a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. Additionally, it has the AMD FreeSync Premium certification, as it has a 120 Hz refresh rate and a GTG response time of 5 ms with Overdrive.

The HP 734pm supports the same connection options and features as the 738pu. In addition, it features a Poly Studio 5 MP HDR AI webcam, which offers a suite of AI-based features that improve image quality and framing while also removing unnecessary noise and distractions from the background.

Both the HP 738pu and 734pm come with an ergonomic stand that allows users to adjust the height, swivel, and tilt. Each monitor packs four 3 W speakers with DTS Virtual:X and Poly Studio Audio support. Both displays are Low Blue Light-certified by TUV Rheinland and support VESA 100×100 mounting (with included bracket).

Lastly, there are the HP 727pu and HP 727pq. Both have 27-inch IPS Black panels with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, 2000:1 static contrast, and 400 nits of brightness with VESA DisplayHDR certification. The display has an 8-bit+FRC colour bit depth and can cover 100% sRGB and 98% DCI-P3 colour spaces. The refresh rate is 120 Hz, with a GTG reaction time of 5 ms (with Overdrive), and it features an AMD FreeSync Premium certification. These two monitors are also Low-Blue Light-Certified by TUV Rheinland and support VESA 100×100 mounting.

Unlike the other two, the stand of these monitors allows for bidirectional pivoting and enhanced swivel (height adjustment and tilt also supported). Smart KVM, PbP, and HP Display Manager are also supported on the HP 727pu and HP 727pq monitors. What makes the HP 727pu and HP 727pq different is the connectivity options. While the former has the same connectivity options as the 738pu and 734pm, the HP 727pq “only” has three USB-A ports (instead of five) and lacks Thunderbolt connectivity.

The HP 738pu will cost $1249, while the HP 734pm will cost $1049. The 27-inch monitors are considerably cheaper, with the 727pu costing $529 and the 727pq costing $429.

OCBase will launch the Enterprise+ version of OCCT on June 4th

Par : João Silva
2 mai 2024 à 10:35

OCBase is preparing to launch the OCCT Enterprise+ edition at Computex in June. The new edition is SaaS (software-as-a-service) and promises to offer advanced and customisable features to improve system stability testing operations.

Hardware professionals and enthusiasts often rely on multiple software tools to test the stability of their systems. Manual result processing, inconsistent testing, and brittle automation usually lead to time loss, increased risk of crashes, and lack of report uniformity. However, with the latest Enterprise+ version, OCCT aims to address these challenges by offering an integrated and comprehensive solution.

OCBase claims the new Enterprise+ version can replace most of the testing and monitoring software, including AIDA64, HWiNFO, CPU-Z, HWMonitor, FurMark, Prime95, Linpack, MemTest86, and more, working as a single solution for everything. Running OCCT Enterprise+ generates an intuitive and interactive report with multiple functionalities:

  • Cloud storage.
  • Comparison between two systems in the database with automated detection of the closest system.
  • Quick stats for immediate issue identification.

Upcoming Call of Duty crossovers will include Fallout, Gundam and The Crow

2 mai 2024 à 14:00

Call of Duty typically doesn't do a great job of keeping upcoming crossover content under wraps. We've regularly seen leaks for previous crossover DLCs and 2024 is no exception. This year for Modern Warfare 3, it looks like Activision is planning to release packs based on Fallout, Gundam and even The Crow.

After some datamining, CODWarfareForum found new references to upcoming content in the code from the recent Season 3 Reloaded patch. Specifically, the code points to Fallout, Gundam and The Crow.

Season 4 bring the following #MWIII #Season4

Fallout is a pretty obvious one now that Microsoft owns both Bethesda, the makers of modern Fallout games, as well as Activision, the company behind Call of Duty. Recently, Fallout had a very successful TV show, so some cross-brand promotion should certainly earn some money.

Gundam is a Japanese anime series that has lived since the 1980s. Various new Gundam shows have come out over the years and there are no signs that the franchise will be slowing down anytime soon. Aside from the anime, there is also various other popular Gundam merch available, most notably the buildable models.

Finally, The Crow is a classic comic book series for those with a penchant for dark stories. The premise behind the main character is not too dissimilar to Spawn, another comic book character that has appeared in Call of Duty previously.

Other notable crossovers from Call of Duty in the past have included Attack on Titan, The Boys, Warhammer 40K, heck there was even a DLC for an operator modelled after NBA star, Kevin Durant. There are very few directions Call of Duty won't go in for crossover content.

KitGuru Says: I typically don't keep up with the wave of Call of Duty DLCs, but some of them have looked pretty tempting over the years. Perhaps in a couple months time I'll be dropping into Warzone in a full suit of armour from the Brotherhood of Steel.

Take-Two is closing two studios months after saying it had ‘no plans’ for lay-offs

2 mai 2024 à 16:00

While Take-Two's CEO had said just a few months ago that the company had no plans for lay-offs, things have swiftly changed. Now that Take-Two has acquired Gearbox Entertainment from Embracer Group, the company has reassessed its situation and unfortunately, it has led to the closure of two studios behind two beloved games.

As reported by Bloomberg, Take-Two is closing down both Intercept Games and Roll7. Intercept had been tasked with developing Kerbal Space Program 2, which is currently still in Steam Early Access. Meanwhile, Roll7 is the team behind OlliOlli, as well as the more recent critical hit, Rollerdrome.

Roll7 had been doing well, with Rollerdrome and OlliOlli both being received well by fans and critics alike. Unfortunately, we will not get to see a new game from this studio if the studio closure goes ahead.

On top of that, Intercept Games was only just formed in 2020, as part of Take-Two's indie-focused Private Division label. With Kerbal Space Program 2 still in development, and with a bunch of people having already paid for the game via Steam Early Access, those who paid the game's £44.99 price tag are now left wondering if the game will ever be finished.

Take-Two has not yet commented publicly on this, so we'll have to wait and see what they say.

KitGuru Says: Did any of you pick up Kerbal Space Program 2 already? Chances are, the project will switch to another studio to be seen through to completion, but one has to wonder how much longer it will take to reach 1.0 with none of the original developers there, especially when you factor in that a whole new team may want to go in a number of different creative directions, which tends to lead to longer development cycles.

Nvidia updates ChatRTX with new large language models and more

Par : João Silva
2 mai 2024 à 16:30

Back in February, we got our first look at Nvidia's ChatRTX, an offline AI chatbot that can help users sift through files and data on their PCs using Retrieval Augmented Generation, in conjunction with the TensorRT Large Language Model, which users can customise themselves by granting the app access to specific folders and directories on your system. Now, ChatRTX has been updated, bringing support for new AI models, as well as voice and image functionality.

Chat with RTX, now known as simply ‘ChatRTX' had access to two AI models at launch, Mistral and Llama. Now after Nvidia's latest update, the software now supports more models, including Google's Gemma LLM, as well as the latest versions of Llama and Mistral.

Moreover, ChatRTX now allows users to search for photos in local directories using CLIP (Contrastive Language-Image Pre-training), an OpenAI model. On the voice side, ChatRTX can now recognise voice input in multiple languages.

Users should note that the software requires 35GB of storage (the installer alone is 11GB). ChatRTX currently only works on GeForce RTX 30 and RTX 40 GPUs with at least 8GB of VRAM and 16GB of system memory.

be quiet! cuts prices for its excellent Platinum-rated PSUs and the Dark Rock Pro 5

2 mai 2024 à 17:00

We've reviewed many be quiet! products over the years, often coming away very impressed. More recently, the company launched a pair of excellent ATX 3.0 power supplies with the Straight Power 12 1200W and 1500W, as well as its best air-cooler yet with the Dark Rock Pro 5. Now, all three are getting a permanent price cut.

As part of be quiet's POWER UP! campaign, the prices of be quiet's most expensive power supplies have dropped significantly, particularly for the 1500W model. The Straight Power 12 1500W launched at £349.99, but now, it has dropped by over £100, down to £239.99. If 1500W is a bit too much for your needs, the Straight Power 12 1200W matches on quality, priced at £219.99. Both Straight Power 12 PSUs offer 80Plus Platinum certification, ranking them amongst the most efficient on the market. At these new prices, they are also highly competitive against other Platinum-rated PSUs.

The Dark Rock Pro 5 is the last product on the list to get a decent price cut. Now, be quiet's best air-cooler can be had for £84.99, down from its old price of £99.99. The cooler offers a dual-tower heatsink with ultra-quiet but powerful fans to keep noise output low and temperatures well in check, even for high-end CPUs.
