2XKO to get local duos mode and more in future update

16 février 2026 à 13:00

Just weeks after the game was finally officially released to the world, Riot Games’ 2XKO has already encountered a number of roadblocks, with the much-anticipated title seeing its dev team majorly downsized following a less-than-explosive launch. Despite this, the team are planning to continue to support the 2v2 fighter, officially announcing the next two Champions alongside a new local duo mode.

Taking to their blog to make the announcement, the team at Riot Games officially detailed the first major post-launch update for 2XKO, writing: “We wanted to give you a quick preview of what’s upcoming for 2XKO. We would have made a video to talk about this face-to-face, but the team is heads down and we wanted to chat ASAP.”

The full blog post can be found HERE and goes into various details surrounding the game’s competitive scene, community support and more. The most interesting however is confirmation that “we've been prototyping a Local Duo Mode experience that will let you and a friend play couch co-op together against the world”. Though not yet available, this feature is said to be “a top priority and we're working to get it into the game as quickly as possible.”

2XKO Riot

In terms of characters, Riot have teased the next two Champions planned to release. Though no official date has been given, the team confirmed that the “sharp, stylish ninja” Akali, and Senna (who “wields the power of light and shadow”) are next in line to join the roster.

As mentioned, 2XKO is in a bit of a weird place, with the long-awaited title finally releasing after years of development and testing to lower-than-expected player numbers. That said, the game itself is fun and so hopefully over time, as more Champions and features get added, 2XKO will find a solid and dedicated audience.

SHIFTUP details plans to bring Stellar Blade to more platforms

16 février 2026 à 12:00

Stellar Blade has been one of the most successful new IPs released in recent years under Sony, with the PlayStation Studios’ published title selling millions of copies across both the PlayStation 5 (and later on) PC. While a sequel is already announced to be in the works, it appears as though studio SHIFTUP are planning to further expand Stellar Blade to additional platforms this year.

As part of the company’s latest fiscal earnings report (translated by ResetEra user Neha) Stellar Blade studio SHIFTUP were asked about their plans for the IP in 2026. According to the studio:

“Stellar Blade has established itself as a steady, long-tail IP, supported by sustained sales momentum and strong user reception since launch. Building on this foundation, development of the next project is progressing in a structured manner, and we are reviewing plans to share additional details on the follow-up project within the year.”

Adding further context, they continued, “In parallel, we are reviewing platform expansion beyond PS5 and PC to broaden audience reach. This approach is expected to both introduce the title to new players and gradually build anticipation for the next chapter in the series. We expect 2026 to be a year in which more users experience the existing title while momentum and anticipation builds toward the next phase of the franchise.”

Stellar Blade SHIFTUP

As mentioned, Stellar Blade initially started life as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. In the wake of its success however, the title was ported over to PC one year later. Given this fact, the only two platforms which the studio is likely referring to is Xbox and the Switch 2.

While it is possible that Stellar Blade could come to Xbox, the Switch 2 seems more likely – especially as all SHIFTUP developers were gifted free Switch 2’s following the game’s strong launch.

Regardless, it is exciting to see that Stellar Blade is continuing to be a success and will hopefully find an even wider audience throughout the next year as the title is eventually brought over to more platforms.

Bloober Team officially unveils Layers of Fear 3

16 février 2026 à 11:00

Bloober Team have been quite a busy studio in recent years, with the Silent Hill 2 Remake developers having released a new title every year for the past 3 years. Despite this, Bloober began to tease another project at the start of 2026 – finally revealing it to be the next entry in their Layers of Fear series.

At the start of the year, Bloober Team shared a link to a website which was clearly hinting at the studio’s next project alongside a countdown timer leading up to Valentines Day. With the annual event having now come and gone, so too has Bloober’s countdown, with the team officially revealing that their next project is Layers of Fear 3.

The full ‘Special Event’ announcement can be viewed HERE and offers a look back into the history of Bloober Team and Layers of Fear – culminating in the unveiling of a 3rd entry.

For the uninitiated, Layers of Fear is Bloober Team’s biggest original IP, with the horror title first releasing back in 2016. Since then, the game received a sequel and a remake of sorts, with the latter coming out just a few years ago in 2023.

While the series is far from the most iconic in the horror space, Bloober have seemingly upped their game in recent years, with the likes of Silent Hill 2 Remake and Cronos: The New Dawn being received far more favourably – and so hopefully they are bringing their learnings over to Layers of Fear 3.

Beyond this, Bloober are expanding the Layers of Fear world into new mediums, with a set of books said to be currently in the works (the first of which is promised to release this year).

Bloober Team is a highly interesting studio to observe. While they started off as very much a mid-tier developer, Bloober’s cache has risen over time, and so here’s to hoping that Layers of Fear 3 will be their most atmospheric and layered game to date.

Steam reviews get major boon with new hardware specs-sharing system

16 février 2026 à 10:15

In recent years Valve has expedited the rate at which they introduce new features to their ever-popular Steam platform, with previous updates introducing a new UX; an overhauled library sharing with family, Steam Deck optimisations and much more. As part of Steam’s latest Beta Client update, users can now directly attach their PC’s specs to any reviews published for added clarity and context.

Making the official announcement, the team at Valve confirmed that the latest Steam Client Beta introduces a brand new option for players when writing reviews for games – adding “the option to attach hardware specs when writing or updating a Steam User Review on a game's store page.”

While certainly a small feature, its implications could be major, with potential buyers of games now having much more context to work with when it comes to statements of performance issues pointed out in reviews.

Reviews Valve

Many players, especially on PC, will go to Steam when looking at reviews for games, with the platform being a particularly strong place to go for a wide variety of opinions. Of course, with PCs each person’s experience can differ – especially when it comes to performance – and so being able to contextualise a player’s review with their hardware specs will be highly appreciated and welcome.

Kingdom Come Deliverance II reaches 5 million copies sold

13 février 2026 à 13:00

7 years after the release of the first game, Warhorse Studios re-entered the limelight with the official launch of the much-anticipated Kingdom Come Deliverance II. Released back in February of last year, the RPG has seen consistent sales – having now officially surpassed 5 million copies sold.

As part of the company’s latest fiscal earnings call, Embracer Group revealed that the Warhorse Studio-developed RPG Kingdom Come Deliverance II “has surpassed 5 million sold copies within its first year of release.”

Warhorse themselves also commented on the milestone, taking to Twitter to say: “Bohemia now welcomes five million players, and we are incredibly proud to see #KCD2 reach this monumental milestone. This achievement belongs to everyone here at Warhorse Studios and our amazing community. Thank you for being part of this journey and making this a reality!”

Kingdom Come Deliverance II 5 million

For context, KCDII sold 1 million copies within its first 24 hours. It then took the game two weeks to hit 2 million; 3 months to reach 3 million and a total of 9 months to surpass 4 million.

The original Kingdom Come Deliverance on the other hand took roughly 4 years to reach 5 million copies, though it of course was a brand new IP at the time and so had less cache overall.

Regardless, the first entry has since gone on to sell over 10 million copies and so it is likely that the sequel will take on a similar – albeit faster – trajectory.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Kingdom Come Deliverance II? How big of an upgrade is it compared to the first game? How quickly will it take KCDII to reach 10 million? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Full Battlefield 6 Season 2 roadmap revealed

13 février 2026 à 12:00

After having one of the best launches which a game could hope for, EA’s Battlefield 6 has quickly been losing steam, especially in the wake of gen-AI art controversies and a delayed Season 2. Finally however, Battlefield’s next content drop is almost upon us, with EA / DICE having now fully detailed Season 2’s expected additions.

Ahead of the official launch for Battlefield 6 Season 2, the team at BF Studios have released a dedicated gameplay trailer alongside a blogpost detailing all of the upcoming additions.

Set to be released in 3-phases, the first part of Season 2 – Extreme Measures – will launch on the 17th of February and includes:

  • VL-7 psychoactive smoke limited-time mode
  • AH-6 Little Bird and MH-350 helicopters
  • New map ‘Contaminated’
  • 3 new weapons
    • GRT-CPS Marksman Rifle
    • VCR-2 Assault Rifle
    • M121 A2 Machine Gun
  • 2 new gadgets
    • HTI-MK2
    • 9K38 IGLA

Phase 2 of Season 2 is titled ‘Nightfall’ and is set to arrive one month later on the 17th of March, adding:

  • New map ‘Hagental Base’
  • Nightfall limited-time event
  • 2 new weapons
    • CZ3A1 Submachine Gun
    • VZ. 61 Sidearm
  • M1030-1 motorbike

Finally, phase 3 is known as ‘Hunter / Prey’. Launching on the 14th of April, the last slice of Season 2 will introduce:

  • Operation Augur limited-time mode
  • Portal updates
  • Extra Battle Pass path
  • LTV vehicle
  • Ripper 14” Machete melee weapon

While there is no denying that the next Season features a solid amount of new content, one of the biggest complaints fans have had with the game is in its maps, and so it is a bit unfortunate to see only two being added over the course of the next 3 months or so.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the full Season 2 roadmap? Is this enough to get you to come back? What is BF6’s biggest issue at the moment in your opinion? Let us know down below.

Ghost of Yotei Legends launches next month

13 février 2026 à 11:00

As with the first game before it, Sucker Punch Productions promised that Ghost of Yotei would be receiving a free update in the new year focused on introducing the game’s co-op Legends Mode. Sure enough, as part of the company’s latest State of Play showcase, the release date for Ghost of Yotei Legends has now been officially announced.

Making the announcement during the latest State of Play, Sucker Punch Productions confirmed that the much-anticipated Legends Mode is coming to Ghost of Yotei in a little under a month: On the 10th of March.

Landing alongside update 1.5, this new Legends Mode will launch with 3 main mission types (two of which have been revealed):

  • Survival (4-player): “Take down waves of increasingly difficult enemies on one of four maps” while fighting to control territory to activate blessings
  • Story (2-player): 12 missions where after every 3 you must take on an incursion (large-scale four-player assault on a stronghold belonging to a member of the Yōtei Six)

Just like Tsushima, Yotei’s Legends mode will continue to receive updates post-launch, with the team promising that a Raid will go live in April, “putting your team to the ultimate test, where you can expect to take on the Dragon and Lord Saito himself.”

Across all modes, players will be able to take on the role of 4 different classes: Samurai, Archer, Mercenary, or Shinobi; each of which “excel in a different one of Ghost of Yōtei’s weapon and combat systems” while earning some unique armour.

Ghost of Tsushima Legends was a welcome surprise when the free update arrived back for the original game. With the team having now learned lessons from their first take on the formula, here’s to hoping that Ghost of Yotei Legends will have even greater levels of depth and replayability. We won’t have to wait long to find out. Full details of Ghost of Yotei’s Legend mode can be found HERE.

Kena: Scars of Kosmora officially announced for PS5 and PC

13 février 2026 à 10:00

Kena: Bridge of Spirits was the impressive debut title from studio Ember Lab. Released back in 2021 for PlayStation and PC, the game resonated with many thanks to its gorgeous visuals, fun combat and overall vibes. In a surprise announcement during the most recent State of Play, the team revealed that a sequel is officially on the way – arriving some time this year.

Sony kicked off its latest State of Play Showcase with the announcement of Kena: Scars of Kosmora. Being published by PlayStation Studios, the sequel looks to be taking the core of the first game and expanding upon it, introducing new “Elemental spirit companions” that “travel with you, grow over time, and unlock new powers as your bond deepens.”

The added elements of ‘elements’ can be seen throughout the sequel, with companions; skills; and infusions allowing for more engaging gameplay against “challenging encounters and epic boss fights.”

While seemingly not an open-world, Kena’s island of Kosmora is more expansive, necessitating the use of a horse to navigate.

All in all, it appears as though Kena: Scars of Kosmora is building upon what worked in the first game (the pretty visual design, competent combat and cleansing mechanic) while using their partnership with PlayStation Studios to help “craft an even larger world – one built with an emphasis on tightly designed regions, deliberate progression, and a strong sense of adventure.”

Kena: Scars of Kosmora officially arrives some time this year for both PlayStation 5 and PC.

KitGuru says: Are you excited for Ember Lab's next project? What did you think of the first Kena? Let us know down below.
