You can play Marathon for free later this month ahead of March launch

13 février 2026 à 18:00

Bungie's Marathon seems to be garnering some good impressions following the most recent playtests. Last night as part of the State of Play showcase, we got our latest look at the game, which has now been reworked with new assets following an artist dispute last year.

The latest trailer for Marathon includes a mix of cinematic and gameplay footage entirely captured on PC, which is interesting given that Bungie is now a PlayStation studio. Just like Destiny, Marathon will be a fully multiplatform title, landing on PC, PS5 and Xbox consoles, complete with crossplay and cross-save functionality.

Marathon is Bungie's foray into the extraction shooter genre and a number of improvements have been added to the game since last year's playtests. Crucially, proximity chat is one of the new additions made to the game after the delay – a feature that many players had insisted should be present at launch.

For those who aren't sold on Marathon as a premium title yet, there will be a new open playtest taking place across all platforms from February 26th to March 2nd, giving you ample time to download and try the game for free before its launch. If you end up enjoying it, then the final, full game will be available from March 5th, so you won't have to wait long between the playtest ending and the final launch. However, this does also mean that some issues present in the playtest version may also not be fixed in time for the final release.

KitGuru Says: I have yet to try Marathon, so I'll give it a go during the upcoming playtest. Are you thinking about picking this game up next month?

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2 releases this year

13 février 2026 à 17:30

For many months now, Metal Gear Solid fans have been left wondering about the status of the Master Collection Vol 2. Last night, Konami finally made its plans clear, with the second Metal Gear Solid Master Collection officially coming out later this year.

The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1 gave fans an easy way to jump back in and play the classic games in the series, including Metal Gear (1987), Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The second Master Collection is quite a bit smaller by comparison.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2 will include Metal Gear Solid 4: Funs of the Patriots, marking the very first time that this game has been made playable outside of the PlayStation 3 platform. On top of that, Vol 2 buyers will also get Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker.

Prior to this announcement, fans had expected Vol 2 to also include Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zero and Metal Gear Solid 5, even if those more modern titles didn't have any extra graphical touch-ups. With that said, both games are more than ten years old at this point and are very cheap to pick up on most platforms, including Steam.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2 will launch on the 27th of August.

The original God of War trilogy is getting a remake

13 février 2026 à 17:00

Sony had a pretty big surprise announcement in store for fans during last night's State of Play showcase. The original God of War trilogy is making a comeback, remade from the ground up.

While God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok brought the series to new heights through cinematic storytelling, many fans do miss the original hack and slash games in the series. Soon, fans new and old will be able to experience those original games with revamped graphics:

Fans will also be pleased to see that TC Carson, the original voice actor for Kratos, is returning for the remake project, although it is unclear if other characters will retain their original voice actors as well.

While the more recent God of War titles focused on Norse mythology, the original trilogy was entirely set in Greek mythology, with Kratos taking on a series of gods, from Zeus to Poseidon.

Unfortunately, no footage of the remake was shown in the trailer, but the remakes are now in active development, so we will hopefully get a better look at them in the next couple of years.

Saber Interactive reveals AAA John Wick game with Keanu Reeves

13 février 2026 à 16:30

Saber Interactive had one of the biggest announcements during last night's State of Play showcase. The studio is now working on a AAA John Wick game and yes, Keanu Reeves will be reprising his role for it.

The John Wick films have been some of the best and most successful action movies of the past decade. While there has been one indie game utilising the IP, there has yet to be a full-scale AAA game starring our favourite unretired assassin. Saber's game is currently only known as ‘untitled John Wick game', and the trailer is primarily cinematic, although the text claims there is some gameplay footage sprinkled in:

This game is in development for current-generation consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC. That indicates that the developers are targeting a launch within the next few years, as there could be new generation console hardware after 2028.

The game will feature an original gameplay narrative set in the John Wick timeline years before the Impossible Task. It will expand on the franchise’s lore during that time with familiar characters fans already know and love, as well as compelling new ones created specifically for this production.

KitGuru Says: There is still a lot to learn about this game, including its final title, but if you are a fan of John Wick, this is something to look forward to in the coming years.

IO Interactive drops new story trailer for 007 First Light

13 février 2026 à 16:00

Last night during the State of Play showcase, IO Interactive revealed the latest trailer for its next major game – 007 First Light, giving us a new look at the James Bond origin story.

The story trailer sets the stage for a global adventure, as Bond is recruited into MI6 and enters the world of espionage, full of hidden agendas and unseen threats. The trailer offers early glimpses of Bond’s exploits in Iceland, prior to joining the 00 ranks.

Over the course of the early game, Bond discovers an unexpected advocate in M, who recognises his potential as an agent able to take control of desperate situations and complete his objectives. John Greenway, a former 00 agent and the programme’s training instructor, stands in contrast to Bond as a disciplined, by-the-book operative.

Despite their differences, Bond and Greenway are forced to work together to take down a rogue operative, 009. This mission will take players from the quiet Carpathian Mountains to the dangerous black market of Aleph, as well as a number of other key locations.

007 First Light launching on May 27th 2026 for PC and consoles.

New PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games announced for February 2026

13 février 2026 à 15:30

As expected, last night shortly before the State of Play showcase went live, Sony revealed this month's new batch of games for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers. Just as leaks predicted, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is the headlining game, but there are many others to look forward to as well.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 launched in 2023, five years after the breakout success of Insomniac's original Spider-Man game and three years after the smaller standalone game, Miles Morales. While this sequel was very well received, it wasn't quite as beloved as the original, in part due to a lot of forced character and perspective switching throughout the campaign. Still, it has some incredible highlight moments and fans of the original will want to play the sequel in preparation for Spider-Man 3.

The full list of titles joining PlayStation Plus Extra this month includes:

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5
  • Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown PS5
  • Neva PS5, PS4
  • Season: A Letter to the Future PS5, PS4
  • Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin PS4
  • Monster Hunter Stories PS4
  • Venba PS5
  • Echoes of the End: Enhanced Edition PS5
  • Rugby 25 PS5, PS4

And finally, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will also get access to one new classic game – Disney Pixar's Wall-E.

Dead Cells creators are now making their own Castlevania game

13 février 2026 à 14:30

A couple of years back, Motion Twin and Evil Empire teamed up with Konami to bring Castlevania content to their hit rougelike Dead Cells. Now fast forward to 2026 and the two studios are now collaborating with Konami once again, this time for an official Castlevania game.

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is the first new Castlevania game since 2014. The game is set in 1499 Paris, where Trevor Belmont's successor wields the Vampire Killer to take down new supernatural forces.

While the game was announced during Sony's State of Play showcase, it is not a PS5 exclusive and will also be coming to PC, Nintendo Switch and Xbox.

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse does not yet have a full release date but it is due to come out later this year.

KitGuru Says: Considering the success of the Castlevania Dead Cells DLC, I imagine this game will also do quite well.

Thermal Grizzly launches dedicated software for WireView Pro II

13 février 2026 à 15:00

Thermal Grizzly has released the first public software suite for the WireView Pro II, alongside the first official firmware update. Both are optional, but together they enable full PC‑based configuration and data logging, expanding the device’s capabilities beyond the standalone hardware interface.

Software version 1.0.5 provides full operating‑system integration, access to all supported WireView Pro II functions, more precise configuration options than the firmware alone, and power‑ and temperature‑logging with export support, including analysis of 12V‑2×6 current distribution. The software is currently available for Windows, with Linux support planned. It remains optional, as all essential measurements continue to be handled directly on the device’s integrated display.

This first public release follows a beta phase in which several issues were resolved. Users can report problems via Discord, the subreddit, or Thermal Grizzly's website support form.

Thermal Grizzly is also releasing the first firmware update for the WireView Pro II. The update is included in the software package and is flashed to the device via USB. Once installed, the software can be closed and removed. The update is optional and does not affect warranty coverage, but it is recommended for full compatibility with the new software.

Firmware version v03 enables full software control of the device, improves averaging calculations for more stable readings, and adjusts the current‑imbalance alarm thresholds from 30% at 5 A to 40% at 6 A per pin. The alarm now triggers only when a pin exceeds 6 A and the relative difference between minimum and maximum pin current is greater than 40%, reducing unnecessary warnings from minor fluctuations. Flashing the firmware resets all device settings.

KitGuru Says: With dedicated software, there will be the opportunity for further enhancements to the WireView Pro II for a long time to come.

Death Stranding 2 is officially coming to PC next month

13 février 2026 à 14:00

It's official, Death Stranding 2 is coming to PC and it will be available very soon. Fans of the original game will now be able to get their hands on the sequel via Steam or the Epic Games Store, starting on March 19th.

DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH offers a new range of tools, weapons and vehicles at Sam’s disposal. With his companions from DRAWBRIDGE by his side, Sam takes on a new adventure to connect Australia to the Chiral network. While the original Death Stranding was pretty light on combat, Death Stranding 2 offers players more options to jump into the fray directly, while retaining the stealth mechanics found in the first game.

The PC version of Death Stranding 2 fully supports 21:9 ultrawide displays, and even larger 32:9 displays. The PC version will also offer complete mouse and keyboard support with custom key bindings, full DualSense functionality for those who prefer the PS5 controller, and a suite of 3D audio options.

At launch, both the PC version and the PS5 version of the game will also be updated with new modes and features, which we will get more details on next month.

Those who pre-order the game will get a few bonus items, including several skeleton models and a custom hologram. Those who grab the Digital Deluxe edition will also get an early unlock machine gun, and even more cosmetic items.

Highguard studio begins layoffs just two weeks after launch

12 février 2026 à 18:00

Highguard has been out for just two weeks and despite an initially strong launch and a year-long content roadmap ahead, player numbers have quickly dropped. Now, the studio behind it is laying off a large portion of the development team.

In an announcement last night, Wildlight Entertainment confirmed that it has made the “incredibly difficult decision to part ways” with a chunk of Highguard's development team. Moving forward, Wildlight will retain “a core group of developers to continue innovating and supporting the game”.

Layoffs are pretty typical in the videogame industry. Studios regularly shed staff shortly after shipping a project, but for live service games, the situation is a little different, as companies need to retain a certain team size to achieve their content roadmap goals.

It is unclear at this time if this firing spree will have any significant impact on the game's planned content roadmap, which involves new maps, weapons, game modes and more in the coming months.

KitGuru Says: Riot also just let go of a large number of developers just two weeks after launching its new fighting game 2XKO. It would seem that expectations for the first two weeks of new projects like this are climbing astronomically high.
