Iron Fist Actor Wants Marvel to Make a Heroes for Hire Spin-Off Show With Luke Cage

5 juillet 2024 à 18:33

Iron Fist actor Finn Jones wants to bring his hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside Mike Colter's Luke Cage for a show based on the Heroes for Hire comics.

Speaking to The Nerd Shepard and translated by ComicBook, Jones said at Heroes Dutch Comic Con that he'd be open to returning to the Marvel world despite his show's cancellation in 2018.

"I would like to see the character continue," he said. "I would like to continue playing that character. I think there's still a lot of room for growth and professionally I'm at a point where I would like to continue to grow with Iron Fist."

When asked if he'd like to do a Heroes for Hire show — a comic which sees Iron Fist and Luke Cage team up to offer their services as street level super heroes for a price — Jones gave a definitive yes.

"That would be nice. I would love to see the chemistry between me and Mike again," he said. "It's always been great. I think they're interesting characters to bring together. I think there's a lot of great stories that can be told with those characters. And If they brought me and Mike back to do a Heroes for Hire TV series, I think it would be the right way to go."

While the chances for either show returning are still perhaps quite low, Marvel has offered a glimmered of hope by making its Netflix shows, Iron Fist and Luke Cage alongside Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Defenders, and The Punisher, MCU canon (and thus adding 161 hours to the cinematic universe).

It's already at work continuing Daredevil in the March 2025 Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, though star Charlie Cox has already appeared in the likes of Spider-Man: No Way Home and Echo.

Elden Ring Player Discovers Cut Dialogue From Shadow of the Erdtree's Final Boss

5 juillet 2024 à 17:36

Spoiler Warning: This article contains spoilers for the final boss of Elden Ring expansion Shadow of the Erdtree. Proceed with caution!

Elden Ring expansion Shadow of the Erdtree comes with plenty of additional lore that ties up some of the base game's loose ends and threads many more, but its final boss didn't have a word of dialogue itself.

That seemingly wasn't the original plan, however, as one player went digging into the files of Shadow of the Erdtree and found some cut dialogue that didn't make it into the final version.

As reported by The Gamer, Reddit user LaMi_1 shared the brief snippets online, and though they don't give much away, the dialogue would ironically silence some of the complaints voiced by players upon finishing Shadow of the Erdtree. Final spoiler warning for Shadow of the Erdtree's final boss.

Antagonist Miquella must take down the player to usher in a new age, so in true FromSoftware fashion, he summons some help to do so. Miquella brings in Radahn from the past, but not the weak, puny (incredibly difficult) version of Radahn from the base Elden Ring, but a bigger and stronger version now imbued with magic.

Almost like a puppet, this Radahn doesn't speak but proceeds to destroy the player, somewhat ominously swinging his giant blade without saying a word. And this was seemingly a very deliberate creative decision as FromSoftware did record dialogue for the fight, even though some players complained of Radahn's silence, disappointed that what almost felt like an old friend had nothing to say.

"I am Radahn," the cut dialogue began. "Born of red-maned Radagon, and Rennala of the Full Moon. A lion bred for battle." Elden Ring fans have weighed in on its significance, with LaMi_1 themselves admitting the dialogues are "very generic and don't reveal anything" but it would also "be cool to hear his voice."

Tiloy22 leaned into that first point. "They may have cut it because it just wasn't impressive or important enough," they said. "It's very generic dialogue and Radahn never spoke, so him saying something 'meh' might lose the impact. It's like how people prefer for mute characters like Link [from The Legend of Zelda] to never speak."

Shadow of the Erdtree, which arrived June 21, 2024, features bosses with which FromSoftware "really pushed the envelope" on what the player can withstand, director Hidetaka Miyazaki said ahead of its release. If you consider Radahn on of those, check out IGN's extensive guide for everything you need to know about Shadow of the Erdtree's new weapons, its various quest lines, and how to defeat the big man himself.

In our 10/10 review of the expansion, IGN said: "Like the base game did before it, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree raises the bar for single player expansions," we said. "It takes everything that made the base game such a landmark RPG, condenses it into a relatively compact 20-25 hour campaign, and provides fantastic new challenges for heavily invested fans to chew on."

Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail Draws Most Players in Over a Decade Despite Launch Issues

5 juillet 2024 à 15:08

Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail launched on July 2, 2024 with some technical issues but that didn't stop it from drawing the most players to the massively multiplayer online game in over a decade.

In a blog post, Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida thanked players for their support of Dawntrail and said the MMO had enjoyed its highest numbers since the game-changing A Realm Reborn update was released in 2013.

"I would like to thank you all for your patience and cooperation in dealing with server congestion during the early access for Dawntrail," Yoshida said. "With your support, we were able to reach a record number of concurrent users we’ve not seen since the release of A Realm Reborn in 2013."

A Realm Reborn is the revamp that saved Final Fantasy 14, which originally launched in 2010 to a poor reception. Square Enix relaunched the MMO in 2014 with the A Realm Reborn subtitle, which also saw its arrival on PlayStation.

Several major expansions have been released since — Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, Endwalker, and now Dawntrail — with each adding a significant chunk of story content plus new dungeons and mechanics.

Dawntrail launched with some issues, however, especially on Xbox where the game client can become completely unresponsive when moving between locations. Yoshida previously said a fix for this should arrive in the week or two after its proper launch.

The expansion's accompanying Version 7.0 patch made plenty of positive changes to the game too, such as new areas, quests, quality-of-life improvement, a huge graphical upgrade, and the Viper and Pictomancer jobs, but seemingly not without a few frustrating bugs.

Dog Speedrunning MLB on Super Nintendo Is One of the Most Wholesome Things You'll See Today

5 juillet 2024 à 13:45

A dog successfully completed a game of MLB on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball at a charity speedrunning event.

Games Done Quick hosted Peanut Butter the Shiba Inu at its Summer Games Done Quick 2024 event in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he raised money for Doctors Without Borders while playing the video game.

Peanut Butter, who's already an established speedunner, stepped up to the plate to play MLB, which basically involves pressing a single button. Prompted by his owner 'JSR' offering treats, Peanut Butter pressed his paw down on a big button to swing the bat.

An extra innings walk-off 2-run home run on the first pitch does it! PB gets the win (and is a very good boy!) #SGDQ2024 pic.twitter.com/qCnEjL8MwQ

— Games Done Quick @ #SGDQ2024 (@GamesDoneQuick) July 5, 2024

He closed the game with a dramatic extra innings walk off two-run home run with a time of 29 minutes and 45 seconds. Cue delirium from the crowd and the proud owner of a very good boy.

IGN interviewed Peanut Butter and JSR earlier in 2024, and besides dealing with his "attention span of a three year old," training the Shiba to play games wasn't too complicated.

"I first had to train him to press the buttons on command, and that was easy," JSR said. "He's smart. He picked that up quick. But dogs have the attention span of a three-year-old, so it took about a year of constant daily training, every single day, with me using his food as collateral. And now he's pretty good. He can hold the button down for 20 or 30 seconds before he starts getting antsy."

Meanwhile, Games Done Quick reached a new milestone during Games Done Quick 2024: for the first time in Games Done Quick’s 14-year history, the speedrunning organization has raised a whopping lifetime total of $50 million, which was hit during the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice run by Mitchriz.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew LEGO Leak Reveals Jude Law's Ship and Character Names

5 juillet 2024 à 12:47

Spoiler Warning: This article features minor spoilers for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew based on leaks.

The Jude Law-starring Star Wars: Skeleton Crew series, expected on Disney+ in late 2024, has leaked via a Lego set that reveals the crew's ship and names.

Lego fan account Falconbricks on X/Twitter posted images of The Onyx Cinder set, which can be assumed to be the name of Law's ship in the upcoming series.

The set includes five minifigures — the show's five main characters — which also reveal the names of each character, though the images are a tad blurry so some aren't totally clear. Law's character is seemingly called Jod, however, and can be seen wearing a scarf and holding a blaster.

First look at the new LEGO Star Wars Skeleton Crew ship!

Release: August 1st
Price: $129.99
Pieces: 1325#legonews #legoleaks #lego #starwars pic.twitter.com/xBicYw89Xs

— Falconbricks | LEGO News (@Falconbricks) July 4, 2024

The four kids in the Goonies-inspired show appear to be called Wim, Fern, K8, and Neel. Little else can be derived from the box, though the back does show some of the set's features. A set of different-colored torches, which almost look like lightsabers, appears to be the focal point though, with the artwork showing the kids holding them and then a place to store them in The Onyx Cinder.

Falconbricks said the set includes 1,325 pieces and is available for $129.99 on August 1, though this would see it released months before the show.

This isn't the first significant leak suffered by Skeleton Crew, as in May 2024 another piece of merchandise gave fans their first look at the four kids in the show.

The multiple offences are likely a result of Skeleton Crew's significant delays, as the show wrapped filming way back in January 2023 and was initially expected out later that year. Merchandise was perhaps prepared much earlier as a result, but even as these leaks emerge Disney has remained quiet on a release date.

And despite it showing a trailer for the show in April 2023 to attendees of Star Wars Celebration, Disney has said practically nothing about it since. It may reveal more about Skeleton Crew and its release window upon completion of The Acolyte, the High Republic set show which premiered on June 4 and wraps July 16, 2024 but fans will otherwise just have to wait patiently for an official announcement (or more leaks) to hear more.

Skeleton Crew
Releasing on Disney+
<br>
<br>
That’s right, there are two Star Wars projects that we don’t know a ton about slated to definitely, maybe, probably debut in 2024. Skeleton Crew seems to be the polar opposite of The Acolyte, however. While the former will be filled with Sith-y goodness, Skeleton Crew, as far as we currently know, will have a very limited focus on the Jedi. Currently, all we know is that four kids are going to bite off more than they can chew and get lost in deep space, and that Jude Law and Kerry Condon’s characters are going to find themselves involved somehow.

PlayStation Reveals The Shapes Collection Figures With God of War, Horizon, and Ghost of Tsushima

4 juillet 2024 à 16:17

PlayStation has announced a new line of collectible figures called The Shapes Collection which includes franchises such as God of War, Horizon, and Ghost of Tsushima.

Revealed on the PlayStation Blog, the six inch figure collection will premiere with an Aloy figure from Horizon Forbidden West for $49.99. It's a "deluxe collector grade figure with 42 points of articulation and 12 different accessories including multiple face plates and alternative hands." The figure will be released in August 2024, with preorders now available.

Coming soon after in The Shapes Collection is Kratos and Atreus from God of War Ragnarok, Varl from Horizon Forbidden West, and Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima. These figures have between 24 and 34 points of articulation depending on the model, and two to four different accessories each. Preorders will open on July 15, 2024 for this second wave, with shipping beginning in September.

"[The figures] are based on the actual digital sculpts used for the game, something you can really see in the final result," said Horizon developer Guerrilla Games' lead character artist Arno Schmitz. "We made sure the many articulation points made sense and even the finest textural detail shows up on the figures."

Creative director at Ghost of Tsushima studio Sucker Punch Jason Connell chimed in too. "Jin’s Ghost armor has so many beautiful details, including intricate fabric patterns and overlapping armor plates that are integral to the design of his character," he said. "In addition to his katana, it’s also always important to us to see all of his various Ghost tools represented to capture his different fighting techniques."

PlayStation didn't reveal if further figures would be released down the road, but as these four just scratch the surface of its wealth of franchises, it's perhaps likely. Other potential figures could include Ellie from The Last Us, Nathan Drake from Uncharted, Spider-Man from, well, Spider-Man, and more.

Nintendo Switch Online Adds 7 Classic Titles

4 juillet 2024 à 15:06

Nintendo has added seven classic titles to the Nintendo Switch Online library including Urban Champion, Golf, and more.

Revealed on X/Twitter, the other games joining the collection — which will be available at no extra cost to users who have a Nintendo Switch Online membership and have purchased the Expansion Pass — include Donkey Kong Jr. Math, Mach Rider, The Mystery of Atlantis, Solar Jetman, and Cobra Triangle.

All titles come as part of the Nintendo Entertainment System library. Urban Champion is a fighting game released in 1984, Golf is, well, a golf game released in the same year, and Donkey Kong Jr. Math is an educational game from 1986.

The first racing game among the new additions comes in Mach Rider, a vehicular combat racing game also from 1986. In a similar vein comes Cobra Triangle, a 1989 game from Rare, where players control a speedboat equipped with weapons.

The Mystery of Atlantis, meanwhile, is a side scrolling platformer, and Solar Jetman: Hunt for the Golden Warship is a shooter.

Nintendo periodically adds a handful of classic titles to its myriad Switch Online libraries, which also includes games from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo 64, Game Boy, and more.

Who knows what future hardware improvements the Nintendo Switch has in store, but by looking back at some of these major revisions, it isn’t hard to imagine Nintendo adding features that the original lacked (including Bluetooth headphone support, an improved screen and more). Regardless of if recent rumors are true, Nintendo has an undeniable habit of improving upon hardware throughout a console or handheld’s lifecycle.

Marvel Series Agatha All Along Is a Genuine Horror Apparently

4 juillet 2024 à 12:41

Marvel Cinematic Universe spin-off Agatha All Along sounds like a genuine horror series, as Marvel Studios head of TV and streaming Brad Winderbaum called it "really scary."

Speaking on the Official Marvel Podcast, Winderbaum emphasized the show isn't just a fun time akin to Agatha's appearance in WandaVision, but is actually quite spooky. The Kathryn Hahn led series sees Agatha look to regain her powers by turning to a group of fellow witches.

"Agatha is really fun, but it’s really scary and it gets quite dramatic," Winderbaum said. "She’s an amazing anti-hero and that show lures you in with the fun of Halloween, and before you know it, you’re crying.

"It’s a Marvel brand of scary. It’s a Halloween show. There are deadly stakes in this series. It’s a fun ride, but it’s a dangerous one."

Alongside its horror themes, however, Agatha All Along is seemingly a musical too, as Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who wrote the Emmy-winning song Agatha All Along for WandaVision, have returned to write several numbers for the spin-off series.

The show also stars Patti LuPone's Lilia, Sasheer Zamata's Jennifer, Debra Jo Rupp's Sharon, and Ali Ahn's Alice as fellow covenless witches. It premieres September 18, 2024 on Disney+.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Patch Addresses Overpowered Weapons and More

4 juillet 2024 à 12:13

Elden Ring developer FromSoftware has released the first hefty game update, Version 1.12.3, following the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, which reduces the strength of overpowered weapons.

Detailed on publisher Bandai Namco's website, the patch includes several changes and bug fixes including the reduction of power of several weapons deemed too strong.

These include the Smithscript Dagger, Smithscript Cirque, Smithscript Axe, Smithscript Greathammer, Smithscript Spear, Smithscript Shield, and Golem Fist — and something used in the "OP" build discovered hours before the patch was released. FromSoftware has "fixed a bug" that saw thrusting shields "consume less stamina than intended."

The Smithscript Dagger and Smithscript Cirque have both had their throwing attacks' range increased too, slightly compensating for the overall damage reduction. The full patch notes are available below.

FromSoftware still made no mention of the bug affecting Steam Deck users that makes the game unplayable if left idle for more than five minutes, potentially leading to corrupted data.

Shadow of the Erdtree, which arrived June 21, 2024, features bosses with which FromSoftware "really pushed the envelope" on what the player can withstand, director Hidetaka Miyazaki said ahead of its release. In fact, getting into the expansion even poses a challenge as players must defeat an optional boss.

Those eager to explore every inch of the expansion can check out IGN's extensive guide, which covers Shadow of the Erdtree's new weapons, its various quest lines, and how to defeat those pesky new bosses.

In our 10/10 review, IGN said: "Like the base game did before it, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree raises the bar for single player expansions," we said. "It takes everything that made the base game such a landmark RPG, condenses it into a relatively compact 20-25 hour campaign, and provides fantastic new challenges for heavily invested fans to chew on."

To fix this issue, please verify the integrity of the game's files before restarting the game.
