Builds, Guides and a Database for Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

31 juillet 2025 à 04:50

The Land of Shu is full of dangers, and Wuchang: Fallen Feathers doesn’t always explain its mechanics. We’ve teamed up with the experts at Maxroll to bring you a beginner’s guide, builds to crush the game’s hardest bosses, additional resources and mechanical overviews, and much more.

Beginner's Guide

Get started with Maxroll’s Beginner's Guide. Combat in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is different from a lot of other Soulslikes, as your main resource Skyborn Might revolves around getting “perfect dodges” called Shimmers (think Sekiro but with hitting B instead of LB). You can then spend Skyborn Might to empower your weapon skills, or instantly execute a charged heavy attack. This is particularly useful because you can use charged heavy attacks to stagger foes, opening them up to a powerful Obliterate attack. Maxroll’s Beginner’s Guide also covers topics like leveling up using the Impetus Repository system, how the game’s unique Madness system works, and the various character progression systems including Temperance, Benedictions, Disciplines and more. Then, learn how to traverse the land of Shu, find hidden secrets and interact with Wuchang's riddle doors.

Progression Systems

During Chapter 1 - Worship’s Rise, you’re introduced to several progression systems. Each system makes Wuchang a little stronger and by combining them you’re able to make some truly powerful builds that cut through the game’s hardest bosses with ease.

Weapons are the core of any build, the game offers five different weapon classes; Longsword, Spear, One-Handed Sword, Dual Blades, and Axe. Each weapon has a unique move set and a pool of customizable Disciplines. In addition, each weapon within a class has its own unique weapon skill.

  • Check out Maxroll’s Weapon guide to learn more about your options, or browse all of the available Weapons.
  • Weapons have unique skills, some of which can trivialize bosses. These Weapon Skills are powerful and can be further enhanced by expending Skyborn Might.
  • Each weapon offers several Disciplines, custom moves that can be used with L2/LT. Learn the best with Maxroll’s Discipline guide or browse all of them in the database.
  • Benedictions are gem-like enhancements socketed into your weapon. You can use one Oath type Benediction, one Wisdom and one Memory. Learn the best with Maxroll’s Benediction and Benediction Sets guide or browse the database to see all Benedictions and Benediction Sets.
  • Weapons are enhanced through the Impetus Repository, the unique level-up system in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. Learn more with Maxroll’s Impetus Repository guide, or browse all of the Impetus Repository skills in the database.
  • Temperance provides a powerful in-combat buff to Wuchang. She can insert various needles into her acupoints to change the element of the buff, or add unique effects. Learn more with Maxroll’s Temperance and Needle guide or browse the list of Bone and Stone needles.

Weapons aren’t the only item(s) you can equip in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. In addition, you have access to a variety of Armor Sets each of which has a unique appearance and provides slightly different stats. You can also use Jade Pendants that provide small bonuses, use consumable items (some of which are refilled when you rest at a Shrine), and equip powerful spells capable of unleashing devastation on bosses.

Burning Questions

In addition to explaining the game’s mechanics and progression systems, here’s a short list of guides from Maxroll that answer some burning questions like “how do I beat Commander Honglan” or where to find the most powerful defensive spell in the game!

Plus, check out these early-game guides from IGN. Blocking and "parrying" aren't automatically built into Wuchang's moveset:

Builds

Each of the game’s five weapons has a unique playstyle. The Longsword is a balanced weapon that acts as a middle ground. Spears have great reach and excellent Disciplines, but have a weaker charged heavy attack animation. One-Handed Swords have long animations and low damage but provide Spell Damage, enabling a dedicated caster archetype. The Dual Blades reward all out aggression as you clash through enemy attacks and heal yourself. Axes hit hard, staggering foes and stopping them in their tracks, but they also tend to be slower and have higher stamina costs.

Database

Use Maxroll’s Wuchang: Fallen Feathers database to learn more about all of the items in the game. This includes Weapon scaling at different upgrade levels, defensive stats on armor and spell scaling. You can also learn about the materials you need to upgrade your Weapons, Manna Flask and more. You can use the search feature to find exactly what you want or browse different categories to learn about your options. If you want more details, click through to an item's page.

More to Come

That’s it for now, Maxroll is hard at work adding a Spear build, along with more resources. Check out their Wuchang: Fallen Feathers page for more.

I've Hunted Down Today's Most Massive Discounts on Console and PC Must-Owns

31 juillet 2025 à 03:06

Some days the deals just feel like kismet. I’ve been running my 15-year-old son through Red Dead Redemption for his first time, and while watching I’ve fallen head-over-spurs for it all over again. Serendipitously, I now see it’s also gone on sale today for you! Pro tip, though: when that Mexico section opens up, stay on your bloody horse. Trust me. Don’t do what my boy did and go pick flowers. You’ll ruin one of gaming’s most magical moments. *Sigh*

This Day in Gaming 🎂

In retro news, In retro news, I’m using a Critical Finish from Nightmare’s soul-devouring blade to ignite a 16-candle cake baked for SoulCalibur IV. As a series fan since ye olde SoulBlade days, I was always going to love this, and it's a sin that it's no longer available to buy.

Back at launch, it felt like a final-form moment for the franchise. The visuals were blisteringly sharp, the online play was a game changer, and the Create-A-Soul feature became a dangerously deep time sink. That said it was the collision of Force powers and medieval steel that made jaws drop. Nobody expected Yoda (X360 version), Darth Vader (PS3) or Starkiller (both) to cross swords with Mitsurugi and Ivy. Yet here we were, mashing combos and dodging Force Chokes. It was absurd, brilliant and unforgettable.

Nice Savings for Nintendo Switch

On Switch, Zelda: Breath of the Wild still feels like Nintendo’s finest hour. It redefined open-world design, encourages absurd experimentation, and gave us the freedom to microwave bokoblins with lightning rods. Also worth calling out is Tunic, a deceptively hard isometric puzzler where a cute fox explores a world inspired by Zelda and Fez. The trick? Its in-game manual is written in a made-up language that you must decipher to unlock secrets.

Grab a Lisen 3-Port 57W USB Car Charger with Retractable USB-C Cable for Just $10

31 juillet 2025 à 00:30

If you're in need a USB car charger for your car but don't want to deal with a rat's nest of pesky cables in your glovebox, one solution is a retractable cable. Amazon is currently offering a Lisen 57W Car Charger with retractable 30W USB Type-C cable for just $9.99 after you apply coupon code "Q7O2ANYT" during checkout. This little car charger plugs into a standard 12V vehicle socket and can charge any fast charge an iPhone 16 or Nintendo Switch at their fastest rate.

Lisen 30W Retractable Car Charger for $10

The Lisen 30W car charger is compact, measuring in at 2" x 1.8" x 0.9". It plugs into a standard 12V vehicle socket and has a swivel joint at its base for optimal positioning. That's especially handy if your 12V socket is right next to your gear selector. There are a total of three ports: one USB Type-C port, one USB Type-A port, and a USB Type-C retractable cable that can be extended out to about 2.5 feet.

Note that although the charger is marketed as 57W of charging, that is the total charging output across all three ports. The charging output of each individual port is as follows:

  1. USB Type-C retractable cable: 30W (PD)
  2. USB Type-C port: 15W
  3. USB Type-A port: 12W

If you have any model Apple iPhone 16, then the USB Type-C port with PD will charge it at its fastest rate when you use the retractable cable. ChargerLAB has shown that the maximum charging rate caps at about 30W, even for the Pro Max model. It will also fast charge the Nintendo Switch, which caps at 18W.

The Best Prebuilt PCs for Students in 2025

31 juillet 2025 à 00:00

It’s not hard to imagine laptops as the de-facto computer for students. After all, why not use a computer that you can haul around to all of your classes, right? Well, if you do most of your work at a desk, whether it’s in a dorm or at home, prebuilt PCs offer better performance, and are great for creating a productive environment for you to focus on your schoolwork. Pop a good graphics cards in there, and you can start playing the best PC games the minute you’re done with your homework.

TL;DR – These Are the Best Prebuilt PCs for Students:

For a lot of people, having a computer you can haul around to all of your classes is super important, and could even be required depending on your courseload. But students aren't a monolith, and with the rise of online coursework, you could be doing a lot of assignments at home. If portability isn't a concern, a desktop offers huge advantages to performance. Because system manufacturers don't need to factor in battery life, you get the full performance your components are capable of (at least most of the time).

It's definitely a trade-off, but it could be worth it, especially if you're serious about playing games in your downtime and don't want to settle for the weaker performance that laptops offer.

1. Dell Tower Plus Desktop

Best Prebuilt PC for Students

This year, Dell regrettably changed the name of its entire line of laptops and desktops. So while this would have traditionally been known as the XPS Tower, it's now the Dell Tower Plus Desktop. Despite the terrible name, this is still a solid prebuilt PC. It starts out with just an Intel Core i5 processor, integrated graphics and just 8GB of RAM, which will be fine for light work like word processing. However, you can configure it to come with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, an RTX 5080 GPU and 64GB of RAM, which will be absolutely overkill for the vast majority of students.

Where this PC shines is somewhere in the middle. Picking a Core Ultra 7, 16GB of RAM, and an RTX 5060 is going to be the sweet spot for most people, easily able to work through any specialized workloads your professors throw at you. At the time of writing, that exact configuration will set you back $1,199, which can be a high price tag to swallow. But keep in mind that this PC is using standard hardware, which means you can add a graphics card or more RAM when you have the cash for it.

I love how many ports are on the front of the Tower Plus Desktop’s case, though. While it’s true that any desktop PC is going to have a bounty of ports just by virtue of being a desktop, most of the time they’re hidden in the back of the machine. Instead, you’ll find three USB-As, a USB-C, a headphone jack and an SD card reader all on the front, lined elegantly beneath the power button. You can always just plug a device right into the front of the XPS tower, without having to wrestle with the PC to get to its rear I/O.

2. Apple iMac 24 (2024, M4)

Best All-in-One PC for Students

The 24-inch iMac was the first time that Apple broke out from gray in the modern era, and as a result, the all-in-one PC comes in blue, green, pink, yellow, orange, purple, and the same boring silver as every other Apple product. That’s cool and all, but these desktops are also packed with the same Apple M4 processor as the MacBook Air, which is powerful enough for most people to get through their workloads. This chip also allows the iMac to be extremely thin for a device that’s both a desktop PC and a monitor.

There is a dark side, though. This is a desktop PC, but it’s using the same chip as Apple’s laptops. While the larger design does allow Apple to funnel more power into the chip, resulting in better performance, it still won’t hold a candle to a Windows PC at a similar price. And because Apple is Apple, you can’t simply open the iMac and add a new SSD if you need more storage, so you need to make sure you know you will only ever need 256GB of storage before you buy the entry-level model.

That being said, if you just need a stationary Mac workstation with a gorgeous display, the iMac delivers. You get a 4.5K Retina, or a 4480x2520 IPS monitor, built into the device, saving precious space on your desk. Let’s be real, you’re not going to have a lot of space for both a tower and a monitor in your dorm room, and this little AIO serves as both a PC and decoration.

The iMac also comes with a Magic Keyboard and a Magic Mouse. The keyboard is absolutely incredible, while the mouse is a bit more divisive – it has a charging port on the bottom, meaning you can’t charge it while you use it. For packaged-in peripherals, these are awesome because you don’t have to shell out extra just to use the computer you just bought.

3. HP Victus 15L

Best Budget Prebuilt PC for Students

There are a lot of cheap desktop PCs out there, but unfortunately most of them suck in one way or another. Some artificially push the price down by shoving in older hardware that simply won’t last you as long. The HP Victus 15L defies this by just being a solid gaming PC that’s also very affordable.

Starting at $899, the HP Victus 15L provides an Intel Core i5-14400F, 16GB of RAM and an Intel Arc A380 graphics card – not bad for a beginning configuration. Without making any changes to the hardware, this PC can handle video editing, light AI workloads and even PC games, provided you’re comfortable sticking to 1080p gaming. It’s rare that I see an entry-level config that I actually approve of, but this little gaming PC will take you a long way.

Of course, you can upgrade it with more serious hardware. You can bump the CPU up to an Intel Core i7-14700F, which will make it much better at multitasking, and you can configure it with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060, which makes this a serious contender at 1440p. However, because of the small size of the PC case, you can’t configure it with a more powerful graphics card. More powerful graphics cards that could fit in this chassis are out there, but then you’ll run into problems with the 350W power supply HP includes.

On the front of the HP Victus 15L is a wealth of ports, with four USB-As and a USB-C among them. There are even more on the back of the PC, but having so many ports on the front panel makes connecting accessories easy, especially if it’s something you don’t always want plugged in, like a thumb drive.

4. Lenovo Legion Tower 5i

Best Prebuilt Gaming PC for Students

The Lenovo Legion Tower 5i is a mid-range gaming PC, packed with up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Super and an Intel Core i7-14400F. That’s a totally fine spec, but what makes this PC special is how affordable it is across all of its specs. Its top-end spec is expensive, setting you back $2,299, but if you dial your expectations back a bit, you can get an extremely solid RTX 4070 spec for just $1,400 at the time of writing.

With that RTX 4070, the Lenovo Legion Tower 5i is still an awesome 1440p gaming machine, without going overboard. At 1440p, you’ll be able to get a solid 81fps in Cyberpunk 2077 with all the ray tracing goodness enabled. In fact, compared to the RTX 4070 Super, you’re only really losing 12% performance.

The Legion Tower 5i spec with the RTX 4070 Super is equipped with 32GB of RAM instead of 16GB, but because the Legion Tower is so easy to open up, you can easily upgrade the memory later

As for the chassis, it’s a standard mid-tower case with a unique mesh design on the front that makes the RGB lighting on the front case fans look incredible. On the side, you get a tempered glass side panel that lets you peek in on the innards. For prebuilt gaming PCs around this price, having a solid tempered glass panel is rare, with many having a flimsy plastic window instead.

How to Choose a Prebuilt PC for Students

If you’re in school, it’s unlikely that you have thousands of dollars to spend on meaningless fluff, so when setting out to buy a prebuilt PC, you need to make sure you get what you pay for. A lot of features like RGB lighting and liquid cooling, while nice to have, don’t really make the computer any better at actually getting work done. You need to have a budget set ahead of time, but what’s perhaps most important is knowing where that money is going to go.

For most people an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 (or the AMD Ryzen equivalent) is going to be more than enough. Some folks in STEM fields might be able to use the extra power you can squeeze out of a Ryzen 9 or Core i9 chip, but even then, the Core i7 is going to save you hundreds of dollars, which may be more important.

Picking the right amount of RAM is crucial, though. Because of how heavy Windows 11 has grown in recent years, 16GB of memory is the minimum you should aim for. That way, your computer won’t lock up when you open 50 Chrome tabs in a mad studying session. Again, if you’re a STEM student, or you’re doing something involving a lot of video editing, 32GB of RAM should be your target.

In 2025, you need an SSD, period. The days of spinning drives as system drives are over. As for the capacity, though, it really depends on how you use your computer. If you’re saving most of your work in the cloud, you can probably get away with a 512GB system drive and be fine. However, if you need to store most of your data locally, a 1TB drive isn’t going to break the bank.

As for your graphics card, it’s a luxury when you’re in school. Unless you’re working with large data models or working in video production, you can probably get away with integrated graphics or a low-end discrete GPU. Though, if you want to use your computer to play PC games in your downtime – you are reading IGN, after all – figure out what resolution you want to play games at and then go from there. If you’re using a 1080p monitor an AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT or Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 will be more than enough.

Xbox Game Pass Revenue Was 'Nearly $5 Billion for the First Time' Over the Last Year

30 juillet 2025 à 23:57

Xbox Game Pass revenue reached a new record for Xbox over the last year, achieving "nearly $5 billion" in revenue for the first time.

This comes from the company's Q4 and full-year earnings results, covering the last twelve months ending June 30, 2025. While CEO Satya Nadella announced the milestone on the call, he did not provide specific revenue numbers for Game Pass.

Nadella also did not share subscriber numbers. That said, Game Pass subscribers are confirmed to have reached 34 million back in February 2024, and a Microsoft employee's profile suggested just two months ago that this number had reached 35 million, though this is unverified.

Some of that growth likely comes from price hikes on the service that kicked off in July of last year. But it hasn't hurt that Xbox dropped a number of new first-party games on Game Pass especially in the last quarter of the fiscal year, including The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion: Remastered, Doom: The Dark Ages, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Overall, gaming revenue for Xbox was up 10% year-over-year and Xbox content and services revenue was up 13%, driven by growth in first-party content and yes, Xbox Game Pass. Hardware revenue was down year-over-year by 22%.

Despite these increases, Xbox recently laid off hundreds of workers across various parts of its gaming business and canceled multiple projects, including Everwild and Perfect Dark.

Save 50% Off the Massive 75" Sony X85K 4K Google TV, Now Just $648

30 juillet 2025 à 23:30

Starting today, Walmart has slashed the price of the 75" Sony X85K 4K Google TV down to only $648, a savings of $650 or 50% off. Free delivery is included. This is $150 less than the best deal during Black Friday or Cyber Monday and the lowest price I've seen so far for this particular size and model. The X85K is an older generation model, but it still has all the features you want in a current-gen gaming TV.

75" Sony X85K 4K Smart TV for $648

The Sony X85K is a great TV to pair with your current generation PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X console. This is a 4K TV with a native 120Hz refresh rate and HDMI 2.1 inputs which means it supports 4K gaming at up to 120fps. It's also a good TV to pair with the Nintendo Switch 2, which can run games at up to 4K resolution and 60fps in docked mode. It also has other gaming features like variable refresh rate and auto low latency mode.

The X85K is also a great budget TV for streaming 4K HDR content. It's equipped with Triluminos Pro technology (similar to QLED) for richer colors and wider color gamut, and a high brightness rating. The Google TV interface is intuitive to use and supports voice commands through Google Assistant. You can also pair it with an Android phone to use as a remote.

Walmart had it for $798 on Black Friday and it was one of the hottest TV sellers at the time. If you're looking for more options, check out the best TVs we've picked out for gaming. Keep in mind, however, that every one of these TVs will cost significantly more than the X85K with this deal.

6 of the 10 Best-Selling Games on PlayStation Last Quarter in the U.S. Were Published by Microsoft

30 juillet 2025 à 23:24

Xbox just had a great Q2...and it might have PlayStation to thank. Or is it PlayStation that should be thanking Xbox?

Per data shared from Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, six of the ten best-selling games on PlayStation consoles in the U.S. during the second quarter of 2025 (April through June) were published by Microsoft.

Most of those games were new. Forza Horizon 5 debuted at No.2 for the quarter (just behind Elden Ring Nightreign). The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Remastered was right behind it. Doom: The Dark Ages debuted at No. 6 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle came in at No.8.

They were joined by returning titles Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at No.4 and Minecraft at No.9.

Sony only had two first-party games in the top ten: MLB: The Show 25 at No.4, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach debuting at No.7.

This news comes as Xbox announces its Q2 earnings, which saw gaming revenue up 10% year-over-year and Xbox content and services revenue up 13%, driven by growth in first-party content and Xbox Game Pass (hardware revenue declined 22% year-over-year).

Notably, the top 10 games on Xbox last quarter look a bit different. Oblivion: Remastered still took a spot all the way up at No.2, followed by The Elder Scrolls: Online at No. 2 and Minecraft at No.4. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 showed up at No.9.

But Indiana Jones and Doom didn't rank, likely due to both games launching into Game Pass (though Oblivion did as well). Forza Horizon 5 also wasn't present, though this is more likely due to it releasing on Xbox back in 2021 initially, as compared to it appearing on PlayStation for the first time this past April.

Regardless, it's no surprise why Xbox's gaming content revenue was up this quarter, demonstrating that its strategy of multi-platform releases may work for it after all as long as it can keep the new games coming. That said, it may find that more difficult to do going forward, as the company has recently laid off hundreds of workers and canceled multiple projects, including Everwild and Perfect Dark.

I Can't Find Anything More Powerful Than the iBuypower Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming PC for Under $1,500

30 juillet 2025 à 22:50

If you're looking to upgrade your gaming PC and want to keep your budget to under $1,500, then one deal stands out above all the rest. Walmart is offering the iBuypower Element Pro gaming PC equipped with an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU for just $1499 with free delivery. This was the best "high-end" gaming PC deal during Prime Day - better than anything I found on Amazon - and it's still the best deal I've seen so far at this price point. The Radeon RX 9070 XT is an outstanding graphics card that can comfortably run any game at up to 4K resolution.

iBuypower Element Pro Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming PC $1499

The iBuypower gaming PC is generously equipped across the board. It features an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X CPU, Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and 2TB M.2 SSD. The Ryzen 9 7900X processor has a max boost clock of 5.6GHz with 12 cores and 24 threads. This is an excellent CPU for both gaming and multi-tasking and you won't need to upgrade from it for a long time. It's cooled by a very robust 360mm all-in-one liquid cooling system and run off an 850W power supply.

The Radeon RX 9070 XT Received a 10/10 at IGN

We rated the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT a "perfect" 10/10. Even though it costs $150 less than the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, the 9070 XT beats it out in several of the games we tested. In a few benchmarks, the results aren't even close. The 9070 XT is also comparable in performance to the older $1,000 RX 7900 XTX but with better ray tracing and upscaling performance than its predecessor. It does lose out on VRAM (16GB vs 24GB), but that isn't really an issue for gaming. By "4K ready" I mean that this gaming PC can run pretty much any game at 4K resolution and at framerates of 60fps or higher. Any video card that's weaker and you'll have to compromise in order to get playable framerates.

Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 Adds Blade, Resource Rumble Mode, and More in August

30 juillet 2025 à 22:36

Developer NetEase Games has pulled back the curtain on Marvel Rivals Season 3.5, revealing a first look at Blade and many of the other additions coming in August.

The studio offered a breakdown for everything included in the mid-season refresh today, including how players will be able to use the legendary comic book Daywalker’s abilities to cut through the new content included in the upcoming August 8 update. It follows the launch of Season 3: The Abyss Awakens – and Jean Grey – just weeks ago and is a sign that NetEase intends to stick to its quick content release schedule.

Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 Adds Blade and New Team-Ups Next Week

Blade’s introduction into Marvel Rivals as an actual playable character and not just a creative bit or world-building has been a long time coming. The infamous vampire-hunting hero first made his debut all the way back in Season 1, but has been sidelined as an NPC since.

Now, players finally have the chance to control Blade for themselves, and NetEase didn’t hold back. He’ll arrive next week as a Duelist, using his shotgun as a mid-to-close-range weapon before going in for the kill with his Ancestral Sword. Finally, players can use the Sword of Dracula for Blade’s ultimate ability, allowing him to tear through entire enemy teams with style.

“Almost a century ago, Eric Brooks was born of two worlds: the light of his mother's embrace and the dark of the vampire that attacked her,” a description from NetEase says. “After embracing his existence as a dhampir, he became the Daywalker, the ultimate vampire hunter, combining unmatched combat skills and unwavering supernatural abilities.

“When Dracula reigned over New York City, it was none other than Blade who confronted him first. By then, however, it was too late. Dracula had mastered the almighty power of Chronovium, defeating the Daywalker and imprisoning him within the castle dungeon.

“After Dracula's fall, Blade was sent to Wakanda to recover, but his story is far from over. Now recruited by Shuri to save all existence, Blade stands awake and at the ready against the dark forces of Hela and Knull.”

With the launch of the Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 update next week comes changes to the team-up abilities. Guardian Revival and Atlas Bond are both being removed from the experience, and Loki is being removed from Ragnarök Rebirth. In place of these adjustments come two new team-ups: Duality Dance and Vibrant Vitality. The former includes Adam Warlock and Luna Snow, while the latter brings Mantis together with either Groot or Loki. Existing team-ups are also expanding, with Iron Fist joining Chilling Assault, Star-Lord joining Rocket Network, and Blade joining Lunar Force.

NetEase Is Making a Splash With Marvel Rivals in August

Also set to join NetEase’s popular hero shooter come August 8 are adjustments to how players can help maintain a positive environment in their matches. In what the studio calls “Operation: Shield the Community,” players will be able to utilize a custom text chat filter, allowing users to mute specific words. NetEase says it will monitor popular muted words, which may then be added to its official list, while also saying that it’s been able to monitor all in-game voice chat conversations since July 24.

Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 will also introduce increased penalties for players who leave in the middle of Competitive game modes. Examples include longer bans from Competitive play and larger point deductions, with remaining players gifted point compensation at the end of affected matches. Leaver penalties will be handled on a case-by-case basis, with NetEase promising to speed up the appeals process for those looking to appeal a ban.

Finally, the new Resource Rumble game mode and its Throne of Knull map will arrive later in the month alongside an August 22 update. NetEase stops short of detailing exactly what makes these additions stand apart from other maps and modes but teases more with plans to premiere a gameplay deep dive soon. Expect to see Resource Rumble first launch in Quick Match before it joins Competitive at a later date.

Marvel Rivals is chugging forward as NetEase works to maintain the two-month seasonal release schedule it promised back in April. It means more characters will be added faster as the team continues to address player feedback with frequent updates.

Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 launches next week. While we wait for full patch notes, you can see how the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps reacted to the Invisible Woman’s infamous Malice skin.

Kingsman Star Taron Egerton Doesn't Actually Want to Be the Next James Bond: 'It Would Be Wasted on Me'

30 juillet 2025 à 22:21

Taron Egerton has the look and the swagger to be the next James Bond — but the Kingsman star isn’t actually interested in taking on the now-vacant iconic role. In fact, he doesn’t even think he’s right for it.

He flat out said no when asked in a recent interview with Collider if he would try to get the part in the next film and went on to explain: “I don’t think I’m a good choice for it. I think I’m too messy for that.”

Egerton, who played Elton John in the 2019 biopic Rocketman, is a huge Bond fan, “particularly Daniel Craig’s tenure” as the British spy, but that doesn’t mean he thinks he could take on the role.

“But I think I wouldn’t be good at it, and I think there’s so many cool, younger actors who would be great for it,” he said. “I think it would be wasted on me, probably.”

“James Bond is quite an undertaking and I think, one, as far as I’m aware, nobody’s asking me to do it,” Egerton added. “But also, it’s possibly not quite the thing that would make me happiest. I do think it’s a big old undertaking, it kind of consumes your life, a role like that.”

He’s not entirely wrong there. Bond has been played by several different actors over the years, and each of them has had “tenure” in the role that has lasted several years and films. Craig is the most recent, with his last film being 2021’s No Time To Die.

That said, Egerton did mention that he’d be up for a more “commercial” role in the future. “I think I’m [in] a period in my life where, as you say, I’ve been probably following the things that speak to me on a creative level a little bit more,” he explained during the interview. “But, you know, I’m sure I won’t feel that way forever.”

Last month, new Bond custodian Amazon MGM Studios confirmed that Denis Villeneuve will direct the next 007 movie. Villeneuve is of course the director of space epics Dune and Dune: Part Two, plus Blade Runner 2049 and Arrival.

Early this year it was confirmed that Amazon had entered into an agreement with Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, the long-time producers and co-owners of the James Bond franchise, for Amazon to assume creative control of James Bond going forward.

The wait for confirmation of the next Bond himself, however, continues, although one particular Brit has emerged as a clear fan favourite. Until then, Villeneuve has one more Dune movie to make.

Extend Your Nintendo Switch 2 Playtime With This Iniu 10,000mAh Power Bank for Just $13

30 juillet 2025 à 21:50

If you're looking for an affordable power bank that will fast charge your brand new Nintendo Switch 2, Steam Deck, or Apple iPhone 16, then check out this new deal that just popped up. Amazon is offering the Iniu 10,000mAh Power Bank with up to 45W of Power Delivery and a USB Type-C cable lanyard for just $13.36 after you apply coupon code "QPCSXPJR". This power bank will more than double your total Switch 2 playtime and has enough power output for you to play and charge simultaneously. Iniu power banks have solid reviews and are less expensive than Anker models.

Iniu 10,000mAh 45W Power Bank for $13.36

This Iniu power bank holds a 10,000mAh, or 37Whr battery capacity. If you factor in 80% power efficiency, here are the approximate number of times you can fully recharge each gaming handheld:

  • Nintendo Switch (16Whr) about 1.9 times
  • Steam Deck (40Whr) about 0.74 times
  • Apple iPhone 16 (14Whr) about 2.1 times
  • Apple iPhone 16 Plus (18Whr) about 1.6 times
  • Nintendo Switch 2 (20Whr) about 1.5 times

The Iniu power bank has three output ports: one built-in 45W USB Type-C cable, one 45W USB Type-C port, and one USB Type-A port. The 45W of Power Delivery is enough to charge the Nintendo Switch (18W) and Steam Deck (40W) at their fastest rate. This power bank is also a solid choice for charging your Apple iPhone 16, since ChargerLAB has shown that the maximum charging rate caps at about 30W, even for the Pro Max model.

The built-in cable is a popular feature on newer and generally pricier power banks because you no longer have to bring along your own USB Type-C cable. In this case the cable can charge both your electronic device and the power bank itself.

Monster Hunter Wilds Endgame Expansion Moved Up as Game Suffers From 'Soft' Sales

30 juillet 2025 à 19:55

Monster Hunter Wilds got off to an incredible sales start when it launched in February. Unfortunately, it seems as though its success has fallen off one heck of a cliff since then - and Capcom appears to be trying to amend that by releasing an endgame content expansion much sooner than expected.

The sales data comes from Capcom's quarterly earnings report, which includes a slide presentation showing sales data for the company's top ten best-selling games from April 1 to June 30. The presentation shows that Monster Hunter Wilds sold 477k copies during that period, only just above the 389k copies sold of four-year-old game Monster Hunter Rise. Wilds was the 9th best-selling game of the quarter for Capcom, while Rise was the 10th.

To be clear, even though Rise is four years old, those aren't exactly gangbusters sales figures either. In Capcom's consolidated financial results, the company says, "Regarding catalog titles, although sales were soft for Monster Hunter Wilds, the latest title in the series released in February this year, Monster Hunter Rise, a previous title in the same series, continued to see sales growth." This is technically true, in that Rise continues to sell copies, but calling it "growth" is a bit strong.

Last quarter, Monster Hunter Rise only sold 384k copies. In fact, sales of the game slowed down significantly throughout last year after the game sold 725k in Q1, 640k in Q2, and 691k in Q3. That's not really shocking, especially once Wilds was announced - people were bound to hold off on buying Rise if there was a brand new game just around the corner.

What's more interesting here is how much better Rise was selling throughout most of last year, several years after its release, than Wilds is selling now. Just a few months out from its launch, Wilds saw a steep, steep sales dropoff. After releasing during the first quarter to a Capcom record-setting 10.108 million copies sold, 8 million of which were in just three days, Wilds shot up to become the best-selling game in the U.S. year-to-date according to Circana. And while it's still No.1 as of July 5 due to that initial spike, for the month of June, it didn't even crack the top 20 best-selling games.

Why is Wilds having such a bad time of things? Well, despite reviewing well initially, its endgame content is sorely lacking compared to past games, so the many fans who play Monster Hunter over time, with friends, are struggling. It's also suffering from severe performance issues on PC specifically that have yet to be fully resolved. Despite new content and seasons, fans remain unsatisfied with the state of the game, to the point where some players are taking things too far and apparently harassing and threatening individual Capcom team members over it.

An update on release date and content of update Ver.1.021

The expansion of endgame content which was originally planned as part of Title Update 3 in late September will now be released ahead of schedule as part of the Ver.1.021 update. To accommodate this change, this update… pic.twitter.com/aQF1oFMCFR

— Monster Hunter (@monsterhunter) July 29, 2025

Which all perhaps explains why Capcom has bumped up a planned expansion of endgame content from the end of September to August 13. The planned expansion will include a new level of quest difficulty, a new rewards system, weapon balance adjustments, and other improvements. It's unclear as of yet if this will solve the performance issues, but perhaps it will sate those frustrated at Wilds' weaker endgame.

We'll have to wait for more details to see if this is the start of a turnaround or if Wilds will go down as one of the more disappointing Monster Hunter titles long-term. In the meantime, perhaps a Rise Renaissance is on the horizon if fans gravitate back to older games.

Where to Buy: PSVR 2 Horizon Call of The Mountain Bundle

The PSVR2 Horizon: Call of the Mountain bundle is available to buy for $399.99. This package is great value for everything you're getting (the PSVR2 headset and controllers alongside the Horizon: Call of The Mountain game), and pushes the PSVR2 as a strong contender against budget-friendly VR options like the Meta Quest, delivering a premium virtual reality experience without the eye-watering cost.

Sony also gave the PSVR2 a new lease of life by adding PC VR support, allowing owners of the second-generation headset to play PC VR games like Half-Life: Alyx, provided they have the Sony-made adapter.

Where to Buy: PlayStation Portal

The PlayStation Portal has come a long way since its launch. Initial skepticism surrounded the device, but over time it has proven itself as a handy companion for PS5 owners.

Despite stock challenges and surges in demand, a new feature is making the Portal even more appealing to potential buyers. Sony rolled out an update for the PlayStation Portal, currently in opt-in beta, allowing PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers to stream games from the cloud.

This means you can now enjoy a library of games on the go—even if you don’t own a PS5. The update adds another compelling reason to consider the PlayStation Portal.

How to Trade in Your Old PlayStation Consoles

If you're looking to trade in your old PlayStation consoles, you can do so at select retailers in-store and online. Often, the most widely available retailers are GameStop and Best Buy. However, you can also trade your used devices online at retailers such as Amazon and Microsoft.

Some retailers will offer you cash for your used goods, while others may provide you with a gift card that can be used in-store and online. This is a great way to offload your old gaming gear and get some money that you can put towards a newer console and games.

While trading devices in at retailers will often net you the lowest amount for your used consoles, there are also online marketplaces such as eBay, Craigslist, and OfferUp that may fetch higher prices, but you'll often be responsible for packing and shipping costs, or be required to meet someone in person for the transaction. The latter of which poses its own risks.

Marvel Reportedly Focusing on an X-Men Movie With Younger Talent to 'Keep the Cost Down,' as Well as Black Panther 3, but No Urgency on Blade or Deadpool 4

30 juillet 2025 à 19:31

Marvel is reportedly focusing on making an X-Men movie with a younger cast "to keep the cost down," as well as Black Panther 3, while it's apparently in no rush to get Blade or Deadpool 4 out the door.

According to Variety, the game has changed for Marvel Studios and its boss, Kevin Feige, with superhero movies now unlikely to regularly hit the billion dollar heights of yesteryear.

And so, Marvel is trying to keep production costs down in order to make the movies it does release more likely to secure profitability. That moves us onto X-Men, which Variety said will begin casting soon. It’s apparently on the hunt for younger actors rather than A-listers to “keep the cost down.”

That tallies with recent comments from Feige, who indicated Marvel plans to reboot the X-Men franchise with a "very youth-oriented" take, featuring a young cast.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes screenwriter Michael Lesslie is developing the reboot's script, while Thunderbolts* / The New Avengers director Jake Schreier was recently confirmed to be helming the project.

One big question is when this new X-Men film will come out, with just Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars announced with release dates for 2026 and 2027.

Variety said Marvel is holding July 23, 2027 for an unnamed film, but it won’t go to X-Men. What will it go to then? Perhaps it will go to Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther 3, which is apparently creating excitement at Marvel.

Perhaps surprisingly, Marvel is said to be feeling “no sense of urgency” on the troublesome Blade reboot or even Deadpool 4. Given the huge success of Deadpool & Wolverine, you’d think Feige would want another surefire hit, but according to this new report, fans may have to wait.

Meanwhile, Variety reported on Pedro Pascal’s place in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, given THE recent clarification about Mister Fantastic not in fact leading the Avengers in the movie. Pascal is said to have an “integral” role, but is not the “centerpiece.” It seems inevitable that Avengers: Doomsday will spend some time revealing how The Fantastic Four end up colliding with the superheroes we know from MCU already, via the Thunderbolts* post-credits scene.

Here’s what we know: Avengers: Doomsday will bring back much of Fox's original X-Men cast, including Patrick Stewart (again) as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Famke Jansen as Jean Grey, and James Marsden as Cyclops.

Marvel recently confirmed that Avengers: Secret Wars would act as something of a "reset" for the MCU (don't call it a reboot), allowing its universe to feature fresh versions of classic characters — such as the X-Men — interacting with the surviving members of its main cast.

30 juillet 2025 à 19:30

Bose just kicked off a brand new promotion during the back to school season, this time through its official eBay store. Right now you can get an extra 10% off Bose's entire inventory of certified refurbished headphones, earbuds, soundbars, and portable speakers with you apply coupon code "REFURB10". This code stacks with the instant discount you're already getting for choosing a certified refurbished model, for a total combined savings of up to 54% off.

Bose Back to School Sale: Up to 54% Off Refurbs

I've broken out some of the more notable discounts below. Note that the coupon takes off an additional 10% off on top of already existing discounts that you get for buying a certified refurbished model. You're also getting an extended 2 year warranty compared to the standard 1 year for buying new.

Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar

The Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar is the highest end sound bar speaker in Bose's product lineup. The soundbar measures 41" long and contains a 5.1.2ch setup consisting of nine total speakers. Two of these are upward firing dipole speakers for Dolby Atmos content. The Smart Ultra also incorporates Bose's TrueSpace technology, which does a great job of simulating a 3-dimensional soundscape even though internal speakers in soundbars are spaced close together. "A.I. Dialogue Mode" automatically balances voice and surround sound so that you don't need to turn up the volume to deafening levels in order to hear what everyone is saying.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones

The QuietComfort Ultra is Bose's newest noise-cancelling headphone, released in late 2023. It is a significant upgrade over the standard QuietComfort headphones in audio and noise-cancelling performance and is easily comparable to other current heavyweights like the Sony WH-1000XM5/XM6 and the AirPods Max. The Ultra features redesigned ear cushions that are both more comfortable and provide a more secure seal, resulting in better passive noise isolation. It also supports spatial audio for better immersion, and it's updated with the new Bluetooth 5.3 protocol. Android users can rejoice in the fact that the Ultra supports Snapdragon Sound, a feature that offers optimized sound quality, connection stability, and latency for your streaming audio when the headphone is connected to an Android device.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds

If you use an Android smartphone, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds is a better pair of earbuds than the AirPods Pro 2. This is Bose's top-end earbuds, with better noise canceling than the QuietComfort Ultra over-ear headphone due to its sealed in-ear design and better passive noise isolation. Of course the earbuds also boast top notch audio quality to match. Like the Ultra headphones, the earbuds support Snapdragon Sound when paired with an Android device.

Bose QuietComfort Headphones

The Bose QuietComfort is just a rename of the QuietComfort 45. Aside from the name and a few different color choices, they are the same headphone. The QuietComfort features excellent sound and noise cancelling performance for its price. They're close in quality to Bose's flagship headphone, which is nearly double the price. The QuietComfort is comfortable to wear and has been updated with faster USB Type-C charging, a longer 24-hour battery life on a single charge, and an "Aware" mode that lets you listen in on your surroundings.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Open Earbuds

The Ultra Open earbuds is for people who don't want any type of noise isolation, be it passive or active. These earbuds site just outside your ear canal, thus leaving them completely unimpeded. These are a great pair of earbuds for situations where you need to be aware of your surroundings, for example if you're jogging on the streets, taking a fitness class that involves listening to a training instructor, or working at home whilst keeping an ear open for your kids. It's definitely a more niche type of earbuds, so make sure you know exactly what you want if you opt for this model.

Which Bose headphones are best for you?

The best Bose headphones offer exceptional sound quality through a range of in-ear and over-ear headphones. 10 Valuable Pokémon TCG Cards From The XY Era To Pick Up While They’re Still Cheap

30 juillet 2025 à 19:00

The history of the Pokémon Trading Card Game spans many eras, with new mechanics, iconic characters, and gorgeous artwork arriving each cycle. The XY era in particular, spanning 2014 to 2017, introduced Mega Evolutions, memorable Kalos figures, and some stunning full-art designs that went underappreciated.

With the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z‑A shining a spotlight back on Kalos and the Mega Evolutions, ahead of its launch on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, many cards from this era are still surprisingly affordable.

Before demand starts going up again, here are ten great cards you can find on TCGplayer right under or around $100, in no particular order.

TL;DR - 10 Valuable Pokémon TCG Cards From The XY Era

The Pokémon TCG XY era is packed with underrated gems that remain surprisingly affordable. With Legends: Z‑A reviving Kalos hype, cards like Professor Sycamore, Mega Blastoise EX, and Gyarados EX. If you're keen to fill out your collection with some of these nostalgic beauties, grab some while there's still stock.

Dragonite ex – Evolutions (Ultra Rare, 106/108)

This majestic full-art Dragonite ex from the 20th-anniversary set is often overshadowed by other popular Pocket Monsters native to the Kanto region, leaving its price surprisingly low. However, with the newly revealed Mega Dragonite bringing new focus to the original Dragon Pokémon, we expect collectors to eye up this awesome card with its surprisingly intimidating artwork, too.

Mega Blastoise ex – Evolutions (Ultra Rare, 22/108)

A fan-favourite Mega Evolution from a beloved nostalgia-driven set, this Ultra Rare Mega Blastoise ex remains well below $30 in market price, being an absolute eye-catcher with the way its cannons and katakana writing popping right out of the frame. With Charizard prices already inflated, Mega Blastoise is an underappreciated alternative that blends playability, nostalgia, and collector appeal.

Professor Sycamore – Steam Siege (Ultra Rare, 114/114)

One of the earliest full-art prints of what later became Professor’s Research, this card holds strong historical and collector value at a low price of under $9. As an iconic Kalos professor tied closely to Mega Evolution lore, Professor Sycamore is cheap now but could see renewed interest as Legends: Z‑A potentially shines light on the Pokémon X and Y era once again.

Skarmory ex – XY Base Set (Ultra Rare, 145/146)

A sleek full-art design that highlights one of Johto’s toughest birds, this card is criminally undervalued. Skarmory ex is one of the earliest full-art ex prints in the XY era, and with a low market value of under $11, its rarity could make it a sleeper gem for collectors.

AZ – Phantom Forces (Ultra Rare, 117/119)

AZ’s first card release immortalises a mysterious and beloved Kalos figure. With Legends: Z‑A teasing his return, collectors are already speculating on his lore-heavy connections, making this full art AZ – Phantom Forces card a prime candidate for future demand.

Gardevoir ex – Steam Siege (Secret Rare, 116/114)

With striking lineless art and a Yveltal cameo, this Gardevoir ex card stands out as one of the most beautiful from the XY era. Despite Steam Siege’s reputation as a weak set, this secret rare has strong fan demand and remains under $85, making it one of the era’s best buys.

Xerneas ex – XY Base Set (Full Art, 146/146)

Representing one of Kalos’s legendary mascots, this card remains surprisingly cheap, considering its playability and stunning rainbow-backed illustration. Its vibrant full-art design has long-term collector appeal, and Xerneas ex could gain new relevance as Kalos-themed sets resurface in the modern TCG era.

Gyarados ex – BREAKpoint (Secret Rare, 123/122)

Granted, this particular Pokémon card from the XY era is fairly expensive in the grand scheme of things, but it's an epic favourite that's about to get even more costly as time goes forward. Featuring Shiny Gyarados, Greninja, and Manaphy in an epic scene, this early alternate-art Gyarados ex is a collector’s dream. Its scarcity and iconic subject matter give it high long-term potential, and raw copies are still hovering just over $130.

Although, if you can’t quite afford this version, the fearsome-looking Ultra Rare Gyarados ex is a pretty good alternative — currently priced at around $54 in market value.

Volcanion ex – Steam Siege (Secret Rare, 115/114)

Illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita, this secret rare highlights one of the more mysterious Mythical Pokémon. If Legends: Z‑A revisits Volcanion or other untapped lore, this early rare Volcanion ex printing could finally get the recognition it deserves.

Lysandre – Flashfire (Ultra Rare, 104/106)

Before Boss’s Orders became a staple, this card set the precedent for gusting effects. Lysandre’s bold full-art supporter card has narrative appeal and competitive history, making it a smart buy for $25 at TCGplayer before more collectors seek out early Trainer chase cards.

Find Allies, Get Stronger, and Tear Down Rogue A.I. Together in Terminull Brigade

30 juillet 2025 à 19:00

In Terminull Brigade, rogue A.I. and shadow algorithms are ripping the digital world apart. It's up to you and your Rogueteer allies to dive into the Nullverses and stop the onslaught.

Terminull Brigade is a hyper paced roguelike third-person co-op shooter that takes place in a stricken virtual world. The battle with the dark side of the web involves getting behind the weapon of a Rogueteer and exploring Terminull Brigade's "Nullverses." Nullverses are combat zones that can be taken on as a lone player or part of a group, and they contain unique biomes and challenges. Every Nullverse run is randomized, which means every visit is a brand-new chance for loot and glory. Play across two maps: Ringed City, a high-tech cityscape lit softly by neon lights, or the desolate Wasteland that's filled with dangerous natural traps.

But achieving victory often requires you to first fail and learn from your mistakes. Terminull Brigade highlights strategic roguelike progression by letting you try, try again when a boss fight doesn't go your way. Clear out infected Nullverses to earn mods and perks. Watch how the enemy fights, then learn how to use the level terrain to your advantage. Join your Rogueteer compatriots and stomp the boss that once bested you.

There are six Rogueteers to control, each with their own story that's reflected in their innate powers. The street-smart Rogueteer Blade can use guns, but she prefers to get in close and personal with melee weapons. The chipper esports champ Aurora uses her charm and genius to initiate long range attacks that sap the enemies' strength. And the literal loose canon Rocket Max likes making explosions — and making those explosions as big as possible.

Whoever you choose as your Rogueteer, you can use active and passive perks to customize them to your preferred playstyle. For example, an active perk like "Frozen in Place" can give you the ability to freeze your enemies in place, whereas a passive perk like Ultimate Rhythm can increase your movement speed by 24%. A vital difference in situations where staying alive means moving fast. Duo perks straddle active and passive with perks like "Lucky Charm," which randomly increases your active perks by one to three levels.

And there's more than one way to play Terminull Brigade. "Standard Mode" is a typical roguelike run where you fight through 10 progressively more difficult tiers. In "Corrective Action," players earn points by overcoming challenges, and they have to collect enough points to move to the next tier. Terminull Brigade's multiple modes add layers of complexity and challenge to each tier and boss fight.

Terminull Brigade gives you the satisfaction of customizing your character's skills as you put them through challenges that sometimes double as learning opportunities. If you fall, stand up and get back into the fight, however many times it takes. Download Terminull Brigade for free on Steam.

The Biggest Pokémon Card Crashers And Climbers This Week - July 30

30 juillet 2025 à 19:00

Prices for Scarlet and Violet 151 Pokémon cards have been moving fast this month. As more booster boxes get opened and singles flood the market, some of the set’s Illustration Rares have started to dip in value, especially the middle evolutions of the starter Pokémon. On the flip side, big Special Illustration Rares of fan favourite Kanto starter final evolutions are seeing steady climbs as collectors chase the best‑looking cards from the set.

Charizard ex, Blastoise ex and Venusaur ex are the top of the climbers hill this week with noticeable price jumps, while Zapdos ex and Alakazam ex are also gaining traction with collectors and competitive players. All five of these cards have strong artwork, great playability, or both, which is helping push prices higher.

The same can’t be said for some of the Illustration Rares of Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and their evolutions. These cards spiked when the set first dropped, but with more supply on the market, prices have started to settle. They’re still popular pulls, just not commanding the same premium they did in June.

Crashers

While the Kanto starters’ final evolutions are climbing, their earlier forms have started to dip in value as more Scarlet & Violet 151 product hits the market. Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur were among the hottest Illustration Rares when the set launched, but prices are cooling as supply catches up with demand. Charmander is down 14% to $44.44, Squirtle has dropped 7% to $43.80, and Bulbasaur has fallen 18% to $32.20. These cards are still popular with collectors who want to complete the evolutionary lines, but they no longer command the inflated early prices from the set’s release month.

The middle evolutions are following the same trend. Charmeleon has dropped 14% to $30.54, while Wartortle is down 15% to $27.36. Both Illustration Rares have fantastic artwork and remain fun pulls, but they simply don’t hold the same appeal as the Special Illustration Rare ex cards of their final evolutions. As Scarlet & Violet 151 booster boxes continue to be opened, the market has become saturated with these mid‑tier rares, bringing prices back down to more reasonable levels.

Even with these price drops, the Illustration Rares of the Kanto starters and their evolutions are still great pickups for collectors who want the full line. Prices are likely to stabilise at these lower points, making now a good time to grab them if you missed out early. The final evolutions will continue to be the big-ticket items, but these cards remain iconic pieces of the set for anyone who grew up with the original Pokémon games.

Climbers

Charizard ex has risen to $210.00, up 14% from early July. It remains one of the most in-demand cards in the set thanks to its powerful Explosive Vortex attack, which hits for 330 damage, and the fantastic Special Illustration Rare artwork that collectors continue to chase. Blastoise ex has seen an even sharper jump, climbing 28% to $84.99, driven by both its intimidating art and competitive appeal.

Solid Shell makes Blastoise surprisingly tanky, and Twin Cannons can unload massive damage by discarding Water Energy from your hand.Venusaur ex is seeing a similar surge, up 27% to $69.99. While Charizard usually grabs the spotlight, Venusaur’s Illustration Rare version has become a favourite for collectors who love its vibrant, personality-filled design. Its ability Tranquil Flower lets you heal 60 damage every turn while in the Active Spot, and Dangerous Toxwhip spreads status conditions alongside 150 damage, making it a tricky card to deal with in grindy matchups.

Legendary Pokémon aren’t being left out either. Zapdos ex has climbed 23% to $61.99, buoyed by a dynamic Illustration Rare that shows the Legendary Bird mid-strike. It isn’t just binder candy, though. Voltaic Float removes its retreat cost when it has Lightning Energy attached, and Multishot Lightning can deal big damage to both the Active and a damaged Benched Pokémon.

Rounding out the climbers is Alakazam ex, which has risen the fastest of the bunch, up 35% to $44.98. The surreal, psychedelic artwork on its Special Illustration Rare has kept collector interest high, but it’s also a flexible attacker. Mind Jack punishes opponents with full benches, while Dimensional Hand can be used even if Alakazam stays on the Bench, giving it options that most other attackers don’t have.

10 Most Expensive Cards In Black Bolt and White Flare

Black Bolt and White Flare are the final Scarlet and Violet expansions, released together earlier this month. Each half of the set has its own focus, with Black Bolt featuring Pokémon like Zekrom, Kyurem, and Genesect, while White Flare highlights Reshiram, Keldeo, and Hydreigon. What makes these sets unique is the new Black White Rares and the fact that every single Pokémon has at least one Illustration Rare or Special Illustration Rare.

Among the most expensive cards are the Black White Rare versions of Zekrom ex, Reshiram ex, and Victini, all highly desirable for both their powerful attacks and prestige foil treatments. Special Illustration Rares like Hydreigon ex, Keldeo ex, Genesect ex, and Kyurem ex are my favorites, plus they're cheaper than their Black White Rare versions.

Pokémon TCG Price Updates

I can't believe I was singing Amazon's praises last week for some near MSRP deals on sealed Pokémon TCG product, as this week they're back up to ridiculous pricing. You should stay away until they lower their prices and stick to TCGPlayer and eBay right now, which in some cases are a clean $15 below Amazon's current pricing. The benefit of buying from TCGPlayer is the vetted sellers and full transparancy on market values, but if you can save even more on eBay then go for it. All links are above to make your life easier.

Last Week's Crashers and Climbers

Scarlet and Violet base set prices have been volatile lately, with Illustration Rares seeing steady gains while some Special Illustration Rares have cooled off. The Ralts evolutionary line has been one of the biggest surprises this month, with Ralts and Kirlia both climbing around 28% in value. Their popularity seems to be driven more by collectors chasing the full evolution line rather than playability alone. Gardevoir ex has also risen significantly, up to $54.99, thanks to its strong Psychic Embrace ability and frequent appearances in competitive decklists. Miraidon ex and Koraidon ex have seen smaller but consistent gains, reflecting their continued use in Lightning and Fighting decks.

At the same time, several Illustration Rares have dropped sharply. Dondozo and Starly saw the biggest falls, down 30% and 37% respectively, likely due to their limited competitive relevance. Fidough, Armarouge, and Pachirisu also dipped, correcting from their initial launch hype. Overall, Scarlet and Violet’s market is shifting as collectors focus on full evolution lines and competitively viable cards, while once‑popular lower‑tier Illustration Rares settle into lower price ranges.

DreamWorks Includes AI Training Warning In The Bad Guys 2 End Credits

30 juillet 2025 à 18:35

DreamWorks has included a warning in The Bad Guys 2 credits that makes it clear the film should not be used to train AI, as the future of artificial intelligence warps and becomes uncertain for creatives.

DreamWorks Studios included a clause at the end of the credits for the film that lets viewers know it cannot be used to train AI — and if it is, lawyers will come knocking.

“All rights in this work are reserved for purposes of laws in all jurisdictions pertaining to data mining or AI training, including but not limited to Article 4(3) of Directive (EU) 2019/790,” reads text revealed by X / Twitter user Rendy Jones, shown at the end of the credits. “This work may not be used to train AI.”

The end credits of BAD GUYS 2 said “screw AI. Try stealing our work! It’ll be a crime to your artless ass.” All I must say to this is SAY THAT SHIT WITH YOUR WHOLE CHEST DREAMWORKS ANIMATION! SPEAK ON IT! pic.twitter.com/odsS6mWvfx

— Rendy Jones (@rendy_jones) July 29, 2025

The Bad Guys 2 doesn’t premiere in theaters until August 1 but some eagle eyed viewers caught the sting at the end of the credits during early screenings. Clearly, DreamWorks is laying down the law.

To be fair, it isn’t the first time the studio has been vocal about keeping its work out of the hands of AI models. The live-action remake of How To Train Your Dragon, which premiered in June, also had a similar tag at the end of the credits, making sure folks knew the legal repercussions of attempting to use any part of the film in an AI program.

Not everyone in Hollywood has the same attitude, however. Last year, Netflix said audiences "don't much care" about either budgets for film and TV, or even the technology used to make them, and that generative AI was "a great way for creators to tell better stories."

Last month, Disney joined forces with Universal to sue Midjourney for copyright infringement, stating that the AI-powered image generator is a “bottomless pit of plagiarism.”

Shrek is one of the properties that is being cited as part of Midjourney’s infringement offenses, as well as Marvel characters, Star Wars characters, Despicable Me’s iconic Minions, and others. According to a BlueSky user who combed through the docs, there are over 30 comparisons between studio artwork and Midjourney outputs.

Further, according to the docs, this suit has been percolating since November 2024, when Midjourney was served a demand letter — essentially an attempt to settle an issue out of court — from Disney, but it failed to respond and then proceeded to develop more models that reportedly infringed on existing copyrights. Universal recently served the company another demand letter at the end of May, which means the studios finally decided to hit the gas pedal on taking down Midjourney.

Generative AI is one of the hottest topics within the video game and entertainment industries, which have both suffered massive layoffs in recent years. Generative AI thus far has drawn criticism from players and creators due to a mix of ethical issues, rights issues, and AI’s struggles to produce content audiences actually enjoy.

In March, social media platforms were flooded with AI-generated Studio Ghibli-inspired images as part of a trend sparked by the launch of OpenAI’s new GPT‑4o image generator. It caused a vociferous debate that resurfaced anti-AI comments from creator Hayao Miyazaki.

Score a Complete Micro PC with CPU, RAM, SSD, and Even Windows 11 Pro for Just $133 on Amazon

30 juillet 2025 à 18:30

If you're looking for an extremly compact mini PC at a way more affordable price than the Apple Mac Mini, then check out this new deal from Amazon. As part of its Back to School Sale, Amazon Prime members can get a Kamrui Intel Celeron N150 Mini PC for just $133.45 after you apply coupon code "3UDQBYBG". Non-Prime members pay $169.15 after code. This is an incredible price for a complete PC that includes the CPU, RAM, storage, and even the OS. Kamrui is a popular brand on Amazon and, in fact, is the same company as AceMagic, which is even more well known in the United States.

Kamrui Intel N150 Mini PC for $133.45

The Kamrui is small, really small, measuring 4" x 4" x 1.6". Obviously this limits the gaming capabilities, but the components are certainly good enough to run all of your every day tasks. The mini PC is equipped with an Intel N150 CPU with a max turbo frequency of 3.6GHz with four cores and four threads. It's a very low voltage chip, only using 6W at base power. You'll commonly find it in entry level Chromebooks and home NAS servers. It's paired with 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512GB SSD. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed, however a common suggestion with overaseas mini PCs like these is that a fresh OS install is highly recommended to get rid of any bloatware.

There are plenty of connectivity options here. Running down the list, the ports include two USB 3.2 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, one HDMI 2.0 port, one DisplayPort 1.4 port, one 3.5mm audio jack, and one gigabit ethernet jack. It's also equipped with Bluetooth and WiFi 5 (802.11ac) wireless networking.

The 8 Best Upcoming Book Adaptations to Read Before They Hit the Big Screen

30 juillet 2025 à 18:30

It’s a timeless debate – is the book better than the movie? Well, several book adaptations are hitting the big screen (and streaming services) over the next year or so that you won’t want to miss, including a new version of The Running Man, The Housemaid, and The Nightingale.

We always prefer to read the book first, if we can, which is why we’ve given you plenty of time to pick up a copy of these eight books before it’s time to grab some popcorn and settle in for the movie.

Project Hail Mary

Expected release date: (March 20, 2026)

One of the best sci-fi releases of recent years, Ryan Gosling stars as Ryland Grace, the sole survivor of a last-chance mission to save Earth, in the movie of Andy Weir’s beloved book.

Upon waking from his coma-like state, he can’t even remember his own name, let alone what his assignment is or how to complete it. However, he’s soon able to rely on his ingenuity and scientific knowledge to forge ahead. He just doesn’t expect to discover that he won’t be going at it alone. The paperback is down to $13.98, saving you 36%.

The Running Man

Expected release date: (November 7, 2025)

The second of two Stephen King adaptations (even though they were both originally released under his pen name Richard Bachman) to be released this autumn–following The Long Walk in September–The Running Man sees Glen Powell play Ben Richards, a contestant on a reality game show of the same name.

The only catch – in order to win the massive grand prize, he will need to evade a group of trained killers who are hunting him and the other contestants, with the nation watching on. With Edgar Wright, director of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and Baby Driver, at the helm, this is definitely one to be seen on the big screen. It's under $10 right now at Amazon.

The Nightingale

Expected release date: (February 27, 2027)

We can’t tell you how excited we were when we found out that Dakota and Elle Fanning will be sharing a screen for the very first time, playing two sisters in The Nightingale. Based on Kristin Hannah’s historical novel of the same name, it follows Vianne and Isabelle in German-occupied, war-torn France during World War II, with each embarking on their own quest for survival, love, and freedom.

Given that it isn’t slated for release until early 2027, you have plenty of time to pick up this particular book to see how it compares to the adaptation.

The Thursday Murder Club

Expected release date: (August 22, 2025)

If you love a good cosy mystery, we have a feeling you might have already heard of Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club. With an unlikely gang of amateur sleuths, there have been four books in the series so far – with a fifth coming out in September – and we can’t wait to see Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Celia Imrie, and Ben Kingsley bring Elizabeth, Ron, Joyce, and Ibrahim to life.

While they’re used to trying to solve cold cases from the comfort of the jigsaw room of their retirement village, things soon amp up a notch when a murder takes place there and they find themselves drawn into the investigation. The paperback is just $9.69 right now.

People We Meet On Vacation

Expected release date: (January 9, 2026)

For those who can’t get enough of a good rom-com, Emily Henry’s beloved People We Meet On Vacation is coming to a screen near you at the start of 2026. Streaming exclusively on Netflix, and starring My Lady Jane’s Emily Bader and The Hunger Games prequel’s Tom Blyth as the leads, Poppy and Alex.

For the past decade, they’ve taken a vacation together every year, until everything changed between them. Could one last vacation mend things between the former best friends? I absolutely devoured this book when I first read it, so you can bet I will be seated during the first week of January.

The Woman In Cabin 10

Expected release date: (Autumn 2025)

If you’ve always dreamed of going on a boutique luxury cruise, or you’ve been binge-watching episodes of Below Deck, take note, because Lo Blacklock soon finds herself regretting her decision to step aboard the Aurora.

After seeing a fellow passenger be tossed overboard one night, she’s told that no one is missing and she must have dreamt the whole thing. Could that be the case since she hasn’t been sleeping following a traumatic break in back home? She’s not so sure and continues to look for answers, even if it means putting her own life at risk.

Keira Knightley plays Lo, while Guy Pearce, Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham, David Morrissey, and Kaya Scodelario make up some of the ensemble cast. We don’t yet have an exact release date, but it will be dropping on Netflix sometime this autumn.

Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell

Expected release date: (Winter 2025)

Even though you might be able to name a few of William Shakespeare’s most famous plays, you probably don’t know a whole lot about his family, and in particular, his only son, Hamnet, who passed away at the age of 11.

A fictional account of how his death impacted Shakespeare and his wife Agnes, the movie adaptation stars Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley, and is slated for a winter release later this year. Having won the Women's Prize for Fiction, the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction, and being chosen as the Waterstones' Book Of The Year in the same year, we’re expecting big things.

The Housemaid

Expected release date: (December 25, 2025)

As one of the bestselling books of the past few years, it’s not too surprising that Freida McFadden’s The Housemaid is getting the big screen treatment. The story follows Millie, played by Sydney Sweeney, as she cooks, cleans, and cares for the wealthy Winchester family. But by the time she realises the door to her attic bedroom only locks from the outside, it’s already far too late.

Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, and Michele Morrone make up the rest of the cast, with Bridesmaids and A Simple Favour’s Paul Feig directing. And if you’re anything like us, you’ll find yourself itching to read the rest of the series, with there being two further The Housemaid books to dive into.

If you're keen on the paperback, it's just over $10.

Weapons Review

30 juillet 2025 à 18:30

Weapons opens in theaters Friday, August 8.

Zach Cregger made a splashy foray into horror with 2022’s Barbarian, a shape-shifting slow-burn full of satisfying twists and well-pitched dark humor that invited hair-raising questions about what may be going on behind your neighbor’s door (or indeed, inside their basement.) His new movie, Weapons, may be rooted in similar themes, but Cregger has refined his touch here, crafting an absolutely delicious, scary-yet-funny blockbuster that never lets up.

A testament to the power of a good hook, Weapons opens by laying out its central mystery: Why did nearly 20 kids, all from the same classroom in the small town of Maybrook, suddenly awake one night, leave their homes, and disappear into the darkness? Recounted in hushed, around-the-campfire tones, the story has a feeling of urban myth, which is reinforced by a haunting montage of children streaming into the street, arms straight out at their sides like effed-up little airplanes. The eyes of Maybrook naturally turn to the missing kids’ teacher, Justine Gandy (Julia Garner), who has a checkered past when it comes to respecting boundaries with her pupils; during a meeting between parents, teachers, and police, Justine is chased out of the room following accusations from one of the grieving fathers, Archer (Josh Brolin). All of that is covered in the first few minutes of Weapons, and it makes up the bedrock that’s revisited time and again across its 128-minute runtime. It’s also every part of the plot that’s safe to discuss without ruining all the clever turns that lie ahead.

From that primal starting point, Weapons unfurls itself in time-hopping chapters that afford the story a tremendous sense of scope in spite of its relatively diminutive setting. Each segment takes its time to dig into how the disappearances have affected the lives of those closest to the situation, and Cregger takes care to introduce the audience to the characters in quiet, personal moments of struggle. No one person’s perspective feels more important than any other’s; what’s revealed by these various vantage points makes us constantly reassess our own view of Weapon’s bigger picture.

But as useful as the chapter structure is for giving the characters a common level of depth, Cregger wields it most effectively to ratchet tension. With each chapter illuminating some new clue or development, he establishes a potent pattern: build to a fever pitch, then reset. But that tension doesn’t just go away because we’re suddenly in another character’s shoes – it’s being banked for later, to propel Weapons toward a conclusion that’s satisfying even if you manage to suss out where it’s headed. The pieces Cregger has set in motion in both the foreground and background fall into place marvelously, and cascade through an unforgettable finale that more than earns its big-cheer moments.

The tonal command Cregger showed in Barbarian is more focused this time around. In this seamless patchwork of bleak terror and black humor, each trip through a dark house or neighborhood feels equally likely to pay off with a laugh or a scare. And when Cregger chooses violence, he doesn’t disappoint. There are plenty of squirm-worthy moments where sharp things go places they shouldn’t, or characters snap and attack one another with shocking brutality, but there are just as many lingering shots on dread-inducing dangers making their way towards the characters. The result is a movie that feels like Russian roulette for the senses. Cregger’s confidence in his own voice manifests itself in one character and performance with particularly great results – to identify that character and performer would ruin some surprises, but it must be said that they sort of run away with Weapons at a certain point.

From top to bottom, the cast proves adept at performing Cregger’s tonal highwire act, with Julia Garner and Josh Brolin anchoring other focal points like Principal Marcus (Benedict Wong) and town cop Paul (Alden Ehrenreich). Justine may be well-intentioned, but she’s ill-suited to the crisis at hand: Garner foregrounds Justine’s paranoia and jitters, a fragility that’s expertly cut by her blunt interactions with her more dubious neighbors. Justine and Paul have a history that complicates their ability to make good choices together; Ehrenreich keeps this in focus throughout Paul’s chapter of Weapons, ably playing the nuances of his shifting personality.

Zach Cregger has crafted an absolutely delicious, scary-yet-funny blockbuster that never lets up.

It’s during that segment that we meet another scene-stealer, transient drug addict James (Austin Abrams). Playing high off his rocker and nervy as hell, Abrams bumbles through some of the most crucial landmarks on the board, providing some of the movie’s only pure comedy moments. Nearly every one of his lines gets a laugh. Cary Christopher also deserves a mention for his wonderful performance as Alex, the only one of Justine’s students who didn’t disappear. Alex is thrust into circumstances that are unquestionably too heavy for someone his age, but Christopher contends with them admirably.

Archer, meanwhile, sits in a comfortable spot for Josh Brolin. The same hot-tempered man who accosts Justine publicly is also a despondent father sleeping in his missing son’s bed, frustrated by a slow-moving police investigation that he outpaces with little effort. In spite of his many missteps, Archer remains easy to root for because Brolin lets enough vulnerability and desperation into his performance.

Cregger’s work is supported at every turn by cinematographer Larkin Seiple. Whether inside homes or out in the neighborhood, Seiple is great at creating pockets of darkness and lines of sight that could conceal any ready-to-pounce threat. But Seiple – best known for his work on Everything Everywhere All at Once – is also very keyed into Cregger’s genre-bent sensibility, and creates a dynamic visual language that leaves enough space for visceral, classic horror imagery as well as flashes of slapstick comedic action. There’s one chase through a gas station that brings both of these elements together beautifully – a prolonged confrontation that borders on farce, but only until the moment the assailant catches up with their target and reality comes crashing in. Cregger and Seiple even get to play in a more impressionistic space during a pair of spooky dream sequences, which each spin up an off-putting and surreal atmosphere that nicely evokes the visual and auditory quirks of a real-life nightmare.

Riot Games’ League of Legends Card Battler Riftbound Gets Release Date and Product List

30 juillet 2025 à 18:00

Riot Games has revealed that its League of Legends card game, Riftbound, will launch on October 31 in multiple regions.

The physical game (not to be confused with Legends of Runeterra) will be available to preorder from Riot’s Merch Store starting on August 4.

“One of the primary goals of the Riftbound team is making Riftbound as accessible as possible to League of Legends players and TCG players alike, as soon as possible,” a press release explains.

Riftbound Product List Revealed

If you’re keen on trying your hand at Riftbound, a store locator will go live on August 4 to find local game stores, while Riot says “Select mass market stores may have Riftbound available at launch, as well.”

The initial offerings will be split between decks and booster boxes, with ‘Origins’ sets being available from October 31.

These include Proving Grounds, a starter set which includes decks based on Annie, Garen, Lux, and Master Yi, as well as Champions Decks which include Viktor, Jinx, and Lee Sin decks.

Players can also pick up 14-card booster packs to supplement their decks or build fresh ones, while booster boxes will include 24 packs. Riot has also promised playmats and card sleeves featuring Ahri, Jinx, Miss Fortune, and Volibear.

Riot Store preorders will require a Riot ID, and there will be limits on purchases. Participating stores will host Riftbound: Origins launch events, with a Promo booster up for grabs, while Riot has said it will “continue to monitor and assess the overall market demand over time for Riftbound: Origins and are prepared to take additional actions as needed.”

There’s an Arcane Boxed Set coming, too, with preorders opening at the end of August.

In the crowded landscape of TCGs, is there room for another? That remains to be seen, but Riot’s clearly excited about Riftbound.
