Every Sonic Game on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in 2026

6 janvier 2026 à 20:38

If you want a single platform to play games at home and on the go, the Nintendo Switch has got your back. Even better if you're a fan of Sonic: Ever since the Switch arrived in 2017, Sega has worked like clockwork to consistently release Sonic games for the hybrid console. Last year we got Sonic x Shadow Generations alongside the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie, so it's safe to say Sega's speedster is bigger than ever.

Now that the Switch 2 has officially launched, it's pretty much guaranteed more Sonic games are on the way. The next big release, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, is launching on the original system, but as we move toward Switch 2-exclusives, some good ol' backward compatibility means your existing Sonic games aren't going anywhere.

For anyone looking to check out the modern era of Sonic (and friends), here are all the Sonic the Hedgehog games you can play right now as well as upcoming Sonic games on the Switch 2.

How Many Sonic Games Are There on Nintendo Switch?

A total of ten Sonic games have been released for Nintendo Switch. This spans the first year of the system back in 2017 to the most recent game, Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, released in 2025. Keep in mind that this list below does not include the additional games available with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

Every Sonic Game Released on the Switch (in Release Order)

Sonic Mania (2017)

Sonic Mania was developed by PagodaWest Games and Sonic fangame community member Christian Whitehead as a love letter to the classic Sonic the Hedgehog titles released on the Sega Genesis and Sega CD platforms. Taking place after the events of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, the game remixes eight iconic levels, including Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant Zone, and introduces five new ones, including the glamorous Studiopolis Zone and the peaceful Press Garden Zone. This game also introduces a new troupe of Eggbots called the Hard-Boiled Heavies for Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles to beat.

Mania is considered one of the best Sonic games of the 2010s because of the experiment in allowing a group of Sonic fans to create a game other Sonic fans would love, the vivid neon graphics, and the new challenges present in every stage.

Sonic Forces (2017)

Sonic Forces makes Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic form a resistance against Dr. Eggman after he conquered most of the world alongside Infinite, a masked jackal who uses the Phantom Ruby to create doppelgangers and warp reality. The game switches gameplay modes between third-person Boost gameplay with Modern Sonic, side-scrolling gameplay with Classic Sonic, and a mode with the custom avatar character, which can be any animal you want, whose weapons use Wisp power-ups. Forces’ writing and lighting aren’t exactly the best in the series, but the game is still tolerable for some people.

Team Sonic Racing (2019)

Team Sonic Racing takes racing games to a whole new level by having players race with each other, not against each other. This game has a cooperative gameplay mechanic similar to Splatoon and Overwatch, using Sonic Heroes as a frame of reference, where you play in teams of three characters and work together to win each race, paying very close attention to your teammates’ performance and sharing Wisp power-ups with them to allow them to speed up and pull your ranks. Since most of the karts are sports cars, you can customize them with gold rims and paint your car any color you want West Coast Customs style.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 (2019)

Released a year before the real-life Tokyo Olympic Games was scheduled to begin (only to be postponed to 2021 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic), Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 brings the platform rivalry between the jolly red plumber, the speedy blue hedgehog, and their respective friends back to the world stage with new events, like surfing, skateboarding, karate, and sport climbing, and bonus features. The game includes a story mode that takes Mario and Sonic back to the Tokyo 1964 Olympics and their early 2D sprite selves, while everyone else works to help bring them back to the real world in the present day. You get the best of both eras and some history lessons about the Olympic Games in Tokyo to go with it.

Sonic Colors: Ultimate (2021)

Sonic Colors: Ultimate is a remastered version of the original Sonic Colors developed by Blind Squirrel Games for Sonic’s 30th anniversary in 2021. The remaster enhanced the graphics to brighten up the colors of Eggman’s interplanetary amusement park and the character models, introduced a new Jade Ghost Wisp to help Sonic phase through walls and ceilings, replaced the traditional lives with rescues from Tails, and introduced mini races against Metal Sonic. You can also collect Park Tokens to customize Sonic with the wackiest designs for his shoes and gloves.

Sonic Origins (2022)

Sonic Origins compiles the first four classic Sonic games released on the Sega Genesis and Sega CD and remasters them for modern consoles and the audience that plays on them, whether they’re veteran fans seeking a nostalgia fix or young fans who want to understand Sonic’s history. Players can experience the game in Classic Mode, which is the original format presented in a 4:3 aspect ratio, or Anniversary Mode, which replaces lives with coins and allows Sonic to use Drop Dash as he did in Sonic Mania. Each game in the compilation features new animated cutscenes at the beginning and end done by the incomparable Tyson Heese to connect all four games into a cohesive story, provided you play them in the original release order.

Sonic Frontiers (2022)

Sonic Frontiers is the first open-world game in the Sonic franchise – or should we say, “open-zone”? – born out of a trend of open-world games being styled after The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Sonic explores the vast Starfall Islands to fight cybernetic enemies, solve various puzzles, and run through Cyber Space levels modeled after the levels from past Sonic titles in an effort to save his friends from the digitized dimension. Both veteran and new Sonic fans alike will enjoy running around the mysterious island set to a soundtrack that strikes a delicate balance between serenity and chaos.

Sonic Superstars (2023)

Sonic Superstars is a collaborative effort between Sega and Arzest to bring 3D graphics to a Classic Sonic game, a move that surprised everyone at the 2023 Summer Game Fest (including this author). With Classic Sonic being a CGI character on his own for the first time and classic levels getting revamped with new music and upgraded level designs, the game allows up to four people to locally play together as Sonic and his friends throughout 11 levels across the Northstar Islands and grants new powers for every Chaos Emerald they collect to overcome obstacles.

Sonic X Shadow Generations (2024)

Sonic X Shadow Generations is a remastered version of 2011's Sonic Generation that goes beyond graphical upgrades and quality-of-life improvements by including an all-new campaign comprised of reminagined Shadow stages from past Sonic games. The two campaigns combine for 15-20 hours of content across over 150 stages, leading us to say in our Shadow x Generations review that it "soars far and above previous enhanced versions we've gotten in the Sonic franchise."

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (2025)

The latest Sonic game follows up on 2019's Team Sonic Racing, featuring the full set of Sonic characters as well as new crossover racers like Joker, Hatsune Miku, and Steve from Minecraft. Jada Griffin's review of Cross Worlds for IGN says the game "fires on all cylinders with a fantastic roster, excellent courses, and lengthy list of customization options."

Upcoming Sonic Games on the Switch

Sonic the Hedgehog is reaching its 35th anniversary in 2026, joining a host of other video game anniversaries that will make you question the passage of time. Some fans speculate the anniversary will lead to a new release, but SEGA hasn't confirmed any upcoming Switch games yet.

Outside of games, Paramount has confirmed it will make Sonic the Hedgehog 4. The movie is targeting a Spring 2027 release window.

The Samsung P9 256GB MicroSD Express Nintendo Switch 2 Memory Card Drops to Just $35

6 janvier 2026 à 20:00

Switch 2 owners, if there's one upgrade you'll absolutely need, it's additional storage. The Switch 2 only has 256GB of onboard storage, and chances are you'll run out of space down the road. Fortunately, Amazon just lowered the price of the 256GB Samsung P9 MicroSD Express card, which will double your available storage, to just $34.99. This matches the best deal that I saw during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. You don't have to worry about performance, either. We recently reviewed this exact card and strongly recommend it.

256GB Samsung P9 MicroSD Express Memory Card

Nintendo Switch 2 compatible

As you should already know, the Switch 2 console will only accept MicroSD Express cards. If you have a standard MicroSD card from your previous Switch, you sadly won't be able to use it to store games in the Switch 2. Although the two might look similar, MicroSD Express cards are much, much faster than their precedessors, with speeds of up to 800MB/s. MicroSD cards, on the other hand, cap out at well under 200MB/s.

This Samsung P9 Express is guaranteed to be compatible with your Switch 2 console. In fact, Samsung is the company that manufactures Nintendo's official Switch 2 memory card. It's very likely these two cards are identical.

Sebastian Stan Reportedly Cast in The Batman: Part II in An Unspecified Role

6 janvier 2026 à 19:35

Actor Sebastian Stan is the latest MCU veteran to join The Batman: Part II.

Deadline reports that Stan has been cast in an undisclosed role in the Matt Reeves-directed sequel. The site claims DC Studios had no comment.

Although Stan’s role isn’t specified, it’s tough not to look at the actor and picture him as Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, a character who has been rumored to be in The Batman: Part II.

Stan will join his Avengers castmate Scarlett Johansson in the DC sequel, which is set to begin filming this spring for an October 1, 2027, release.

In confirming Stan’s involvement with the film, Variety reports that “Barry Keoghan is also expected to appear once more as the Joker.”

While Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman isn’t expected to return, Colin Farrell’s Penguin, Andy Serkis’ Alfred Pennyworth, and Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordon are all poised to join Robert Pattinson’s Batman in the sequel.

Sebastian Stan, of course, still plays Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having just recently starred in Thunderbolts*, and he is set to reprise the role in Avengers: Doomsday.

The actor earned an Oscar nomination for his performance as young Donald Trump in The Apprentice, and also recently starred in the films A Different Man and Dumb Money.

Matt Reeves co-wrote the screenplay for The Batman: Part II with Mattson Tomlin.

How to Gift a Disney+ Streaming Subscription to Someone in 2026

6 janvier 2026 à 19:32

These days, streaming services are a dime a dozen. Disney+ remains one of the most popular services, largely because of the amount of exclusive content. You'll not only have access to dozens of Disney and Pixar films and TV shows, but the entirety of the collected Marvel Cinematic Universe and every Star Wars project pre- and post-acquisition. Depending on the subscription tier or bundle you pick, you can also experience Hulu and ESPN Unlimited content as well, making this the best bang-for-your-buck streaming services around.

I think it goes without saying that Disney+ is a particularly good gift idea for any Disney adult in your life. If you're looking for last-minute gift ideas, why not help a friend or family member cut down on their subscription bill? We've gathered everything you need to know on how to give a subscription out to your loved ones and how the process works.

How to Give Disney+ as a Gift

The best way to go about giving a Disney+ subscription as a gift is through a gift card. You can choose values anywhere between $25 and $200 to load onto the card, so figure out what your gift recipient likes and plan accordingly. One month of Disney+ is $11.99 for example, so the base $25 is good for two months.

How to redeem a gift card

  1. When you're ready to redeem, visit the disneyplus.com/commerce/gift webpage
  2. Enter the gift card number, security code, and ZIP and they're ready to go. If they're a first-time subscriber, they'll have to create an account.
  3. Select the desired Disney+ or bundle plan.

Does a Disney+ Gift Card Work With Streaming Bundles?

There are a handful of different Disney+ bundles available, and luckily the gift cards work towards these as well. So if you're wanting to grab Hulu, ESPN, and HBO Max to bundle and save, you can do so to save a few bucks. Our explainer guide on how to get or switch to one of these bundles is a useful tool for how to decide what to pick.

How Much Should You Gift?

Like I mentioned previously, you can load the gift card with values ranging from $25 all the way up to $200. Some folks like to pay up front for their longterm subscriptions so they don't have to worry about it later, so a gift card of $100+ is a great route to take if you're planning on binging the entirety of the MCU or catch up on Andor. Check out our Disney+ bundle price guide for more info, or look at a quick TL;DR below so you can get a good idea of how much to give as a gift. Keep in mind only Disney+ premium includes 4K streaming.

Disney+ Pricing

  • Disney+ Basic: $11.99 monthly
  • Disney+ Premium: $18.99 monthly, $189.99 annually
  • Disney+, Hulu bundle - Basic: $12.99 monthly

Amazon Is Kicking Off the New Year With a Massive 4K Sale: Get 3 Movie Masterpieces for $33

6 janvier 2026 à 19:28

We’re merely days into the new year, and Amazon already has a huge 4K UHD movie sale. Basically, if you buy at least three eligible movies, you get them for $11 each. Finding three movies to buy shouldn’t be a problem, because many of the eligible titles are all-timers. We’re talking stone-cold classics, like Boogie Nights, The Big Lebowski, Inception, The Shining, and Inglourious Basterds. Additionally, a smattering of new releases are in here as well, like Sinners, Weapons, and Wicked.

Get 3 4K Movies for $33 in Massive Amazon Sale

To risk sounding like a used-car salesman, that’s not all, folks. If you want more than three movies, additional picks ring up for $11 apiece as well. So, as far as I’ve seen, there’s no limit to how many movies you can pile on here and still get the savings.

Basically, anyone interested in bulking up their 4K movie collection will likely find plenty of interest here. Kubrick movies on the list include A Clockwork Orange, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Spartacus, and the aforementioned Stephen King adaptation The Shining. Other King adaptations include Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s previously mentioned Boogie Nights is on there, along with Phantom Thread. Spielberg’s on there with Schindler’s List. Spike Lee’s on there with Do the Right Thing.

Horror movies are well represented here, with stand-outs like Nope, Final Destination: Bloodlines, Companion, and the previously mentioned Weapons, which happens to be my favorite film from last year. All sorts of Batman movies are in here, including the 1989 Tim Burton original. If you’re interested in having a few laughs, you can pick up The Blues Brothers, or the cringe comedies Meet the Parents and American Pie. Thriller fans can grab The Departed, Vertigo, Training Day, and The Sting.

Basically, whatever kinds of movies you’re into, you’ll find plenty of excellent examples on the list to pick up. I’ve seen lots of these sales over the years, and the best movies do tend to sell out well before the sale ends, so you’d be well advised to grab what you want sooner than later. In any case, the sale ends January 19, so be sure to make your selections before then.

In other 4K movie news, a trio of excellent new Arrow releases are also on sale right now: the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy, The Mask, and Spawn. Solid '90s bangers all.

There are plenty of connectivity options here. Running down the list, the ports include six USB 3.2 ports, one USB 3.2 Type-C port, one HDMI 2.0 port, one DisplayPort 1.4b port, one 3.5mm audio jack, and one gigabit ethernet jack. Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried's Psychological Thriller The Housemaid Gets a Sequel After Big Box Office Numbers

6 janvier 2026 à 19:08

She’s coming back home for another shift. The Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried led psychological thriller The Housemaid has been a solid box office success — so naturally, Lionsgate has greenlit a sequel.

The second film will be titled The Housemaid’s Secret and will be based on the second novel in the best-selling book trilogy by Freida McFadden. According to a press release from the studio, the movie has been in development for the past few months and will see production start “later this year.” Screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine will return to write the sequel adaptation.

Most importantly, Sweeney and costar Michele Morrone will reprise their roles and director Paul Feig will return to helm the project. Sweeney will also serve as executive producer alongside McFadden.

The Housemaid, which is based on the first novel in McFadden’s series, grossed $133 million since it was released on December 19 and has proven itself to be a commercial hit for the studio thus far. The series overall has sold over 12 million copies, so it’s clear there’s a huge appetite there.

“It’s clear from both the global box office and from the outpouring on social media that audiences have responded strongly – and audibly – to the totally unique and truly theatrical experience of The Housemaid and want to know what happens next,” Adam Fogelson, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chair, explained in a statement.

“We believed in these stories from the very beginning, and we are beyond excited to bring the next chapter of Millie’s story to life on-screen in collaboration with our outstanding creative partners Todd, Paul, Laura, Carly, Alex, and Sydney,” he added. “The Housemaid’s Secret is another wildly thrilling book in Freida’s series that has captivated readers worldwide, and we look forward to translating it into a similarly rousing and riotous moviegoing experience.”

Paul Feig also shared his thoughts on bringing the second book to life. “It’s been thrilling to see audiences around the world fall in love with The Housemaid and the incredible work of our talented cast and crew,” he said in his own statement. “We’re lucky that Freida McFadden has already extended Millie’s journey on the page, and that we get to work with Rebecca Sonnenshine and Lionsgate to bring this next story to audiences.”

Of course there’s no wired on a release date just yet but it seems sometime in the latter half next year makes the most sense.

Pokkén Tournament was originally released for the Wii U in 2016. A year later, Nintendo and Bandai Namco prepared a deluxe version of the game for Nintendo Switch, adding new characters and updated visuals to take advantage of better hardware. This three-on-three battle system is a blast to play with friends both in person and online.

These titles were the first mainline Pokémon games ever to release on a home console, since none made it to the Wii U. Set in the Kanto region, all 151 original Pokémon appear with varying forms from previous mainline installments. With heavy accessibility features, these remakes were a great first step for the series on Nintendo Switch for newcomers and veterans of the series.

Pokémon Sword & Shield (2019)

Pokémon Sword & Shield marked the first installment in the series to feature aspects of an open world. Dubbed the Wild Areas, these regions allowed for free traversal and battles with wild Pokémon. Gyms also made a return for the first time since X & Y. Additionally, Sword & Shield introduced the eigth generation of Pokémon, which included Dynamax and Gigantamax forms of previous Pokémon.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX (2020)

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is a remake of the 2005 titles Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team & Blue Rescue Team. Surprisingly, this is the first Pokémon spinoff remake ever, with development handled by Spike Chunsoft. The gameplay consists of completing jobs in different dungeons and unlocking new Pokémon along the way.

Pokémon Café ReMix (2020)

The other Pokémon release of 2020 was Pokémon Café ReMix featuring similar gameplay to other puzzle games like Disney Tsum Tsum, which requires you to connect Pokémon together to solve puzzles. The remakes feature a new chibi art style that was created to stay faithful to the original titles while still remaining fresh.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus (2022)

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is often praised as one of the best Pokémon games available on the Switch. This original title takes place far in the past, somewhere in the Hisui region. With a focus on exploration, you can freely walk all around the map to capture Pokémon, explore different environments, and so much more. Pokémon can be spotted wandering around all over the map, which requires you to be strategic if you're looking to avoid battle.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet (2022)

The latest mainline Pokémon games officially kicked off Generation 9, bringing along an entire new approach to gameplay and world design. In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, an open world awaits with freedom to explore wherever your heart takes you. The DLC pass, titled The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, is now wrapped up, making it a perfect time to check out Scarlet & Violet.

Detective Pikachu Returns (2023)

One game and one movie later, the sequel to Detective Pikachu is finally available on Nintendo Switch. Tim's father is missing, and it's up to Detective Pikachu to solve the case! This sequel features new puzzles and investigations, where you can investigate scenes and use your notebook to get to the bottom of the mystery. If you're a fan of both Pokémon and mystery games, this is a great game to consider.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A (2025)

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is the most recent release in the series, launching on both Switch systems on October 16. Rebekah Valentine's review for IGN marks a significant shift from the downfalls of the previous generation, describing that "what elevates Lumiose City far above the much larger overworld of Scarlet and Violet is that it’s dense with interesting landmarks, items, obstacle courses, stores, Wild Zones, shops, and people."

The game takes place in the French-inspired Lumiose City, with familiar starters in Tepig, Chikorita, and Totodile, all of which get new Mega Evolutions. A big change in this game is the combat system, which introduces more real-time action.

Upcoming Pokémon Games on Nintendo Switch

A spread of leaks have supposedly pointed to the future of Pokémon for the next several years. Take those with a grain of salt. In the meantime, here's what Pokémon has officially announced:

Pokémon Pokopia

While we may not be getting a new Animal Crossing game (yet, though we are getting a Switch 2 edition of New Horizons), Nintendo announced a new Pokémon spin-off game that looks pretty darn similar. Pokémon Pokopia makes you a Ditto with a human appearance, who must work and learn from local Pokémon to build a new community on a small island. The game is set to launch on Switch 2 on March 5, 2026.

Pokémon Champions

Yep, there's more. Game Freak and The Pokémon Company have also announced Pokémon Champions, a new battle game in the spirit of Pokemon Showdown. Coming to mobile devices and Switch, you'll be able to battle with Pokémon you've trained in other games through the Pokémon Home app.

The Best Netflix Alternatives With Free Trials in 2026

6 janvier 2026 à 18:42

In today’s world of streaming services taking over the entertainment industry, it can be hard to pick just one. With the Netflix getting more and more expensive every year, you may even find yourself looking elsewhere for a place to watch good movies and shows. Since its humble beginnings as a mail-in movie rental service, Netflix is now producing thousands of hours of original content that is only available on Netflix and nowhere else. Naturally, other services have followed the trend and made their library of content exclusive to their subscription, making it more difficult than ever to choose between Netflix and something else. If the current Netflix plans and prices aren't doing it for you, there are some decent alternatives worth your time.

Luckily, many of the more popular Netflix alternatives also offer a free trial of their services so you can experience everything they have to offer without having to spend any money. Since many of these streaming services are still catching up to Netflix, their original content libraries aren’t quite as vast, but they each offer great content and the free streaming trials will let you test them out before cancelling Netflix for good.

Hulu (30-Day Free Trial)

A great place to start when looking for an alternative to Netflix, Hulu continuously produces quality, original content comparable to Netflix. It's the only place you can watch Shōgun, new episodes of Futurama, The Bear, and The Handmaids tale. Hulu is hock full of award-winning, original shows and well-known cinema, much of their original content is well worth talking about. After exploring the vast library that Hulu has to offer in this generous 30-day trial, there are a wide range of subscription options to opt into from $11.99 a month up to just over $100 a month–if you want to include live TV or premium add-ons such as ESPN+, Cinemax, Paramount+ with Showtime, Starz, and more. If you inlcude live TV, however, your free trial gets cut down to only three days. The Hulu + Live TV free trial is arguably the best live TV service you can test out for free, even with the short window of time.

If you want to skip the free trial entirely, Hulu also offers some of the best streaming bundles currently available. First up there's the Disney+, Hulu, and Max Bundle for only $19.99 a month, which will get you access to the most content.

Read our review of Hulu or check out all of the Hulu bundles available.

Amazon Prime (30-Day Free Trial)

Well-known in the modern list of streaming service options, Amazon Prime offers one of the longer trials of 30 days to decide if you enjoy what they offer. Responsible for the production of more high-quality, arthouse films and series every year, it’s hard to look away from the Amazon Prime Originals catalog that easily rivals Netflix’s. After the 30-day trial is concluded, users will be charged only $14.99 a month (or $139.00 a year) to continue viewing and enjoy free shipping on orders from Amazon’s shopping center. There is also a student discount of $7.49 a month (or $69 a year). Prime Video is currently the only place you can watch the Fallout series as well as Rings of Power.

Crunchyroll (14-Day Free Trial)

For viewers looking to expand their Anime horizons and join in on the millions of viewers worldwide, Crunchyroll has an offer that is hard to beat. While there are three different membership tiers to choose from ($7.99/mo to $14.99/mo), Crunchyroll also has a decent amount of anime content streaming for free. Though Netflix streams some good anime and even some great, original anime series, Crunchyroll has access to all the best anime in the world. Any fan of anime knows that Japan is the leader in anime production, which is why Crunchyroll gives users premium access to brand-new episodes shortly after its initial release in Japan. While Netflix only has 4 seasons of My Hero Academia, Crunchyroll has all 7 seasons and most of the movies.

There are currently three different premium Crunchyroll subscriptions to choose from, but all of them offer a free trial. You can also get access to the Game Vault at certain tiers, so it doubles as a video game streaming service.

Apple TV+ (7-Day Free Trial)

A recent underdog-turned-showstopper in the streaming service war, Apple TV+ takes exclusivity to a whole new level. Featuring some highly appraised, original shows (Ted Lasso, Severance, Masters of the Air) and movies (Killers of the Flower Moon, Spirited, Napoleon), Apple is quickly gaining momentum in the race against its competitors–especially Netflix. After the 7-day free trial has expired, the monthly subscription will cost $12.99 at base cost, depending on how many users are added to the account. As a disclaimer for those without Apple products, you will have to create a verified Apple ID to access the premium Apple TV+ streaming library.

The latest reason to pick up an Apple TV+ subscription is the Murderbot series, which stars Alexander Skarsgård and is based on the book series of the same name.

Paramount+ (7-Day Free Trial)

Similar to Hulu, Paramount+ contains a decent selection of original shows and movies to choose from. The studio that had a hand in more projects than one might expect, Paramount+ offers exclusive access to original content such as the Mission Impossible movies, the Halo series, and the entire Star Trek film/series universe. With new shows and movies being regularly released on the platform, Paramount+ is catching up to its original content competitors like Netflix. After the 7-day free trial of their services, the recurring monthly amount to stay subscribed will be as low as $7.99 (or $59.99 a year) with limited ads, or $12.99 a month (or $119.99 a year) to add SHOWTIME’s full library and remove almost all ads.

In terms of new content to look forward to, Paramount+ is also the home of everything Sonic, so this is where you can currently stream Sonic 3.

Read our review of Paramount+ or learn more about the Paramount+ free trial.

DirecTV Stream (5-Day Free Trial)

Although most folks may think of DirecTV only as a satellite TV service, the company also offers a pretty solid streaming service with a free trial. DirecTV Stream has a wide array of streaming options that include various movies, series, and premiere live TV streaming access. The trial itself is very short at only 5 days, but it comes with some premium content with your subscription. When customers sign up for one of three packages ranging in content and priced from $79.99 a month to $119.99 a month, they offer add-on streaming services Max, Paramount+ with Showtime, Starz, MGM+ & Cinemax included in the first 3 months of the subscription. All in all, it's a decent option if you are looking for a live TV alternative to Netflix. It's also one of the best streaming services for sports, which Netflix doesn't really offer at all.

See our guide on how to get the DirecTV Stream free trial.

Can You Watch Netflix Without a Paid Subscription?

While a lot of content available on Netflix could possibly be available elsewhere, original Netflix shows and movies are, unfortunately, not available without a subscription. Additionally, Netflix does not offer a free trial of their services, yet offers multiple tiers of options that range in price from $7.99 / month to $24.99 / month depending on if you want to stream in 4K or not. You can check out our guide to Netflix plans and prices for more info.

Every Legend of Zelda Game on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in 2026

6 janvier 2026 à 18:32

The Legend of Zelda is one of the most iconic video game series of all time. Starting on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, The Legend of Zelda follows various incarnations of Princess Zelda and Link as they fight to save Hyrule from the evil that is Ganon. While the series has always been popular, the Nintendo Switch has catapulted Zelda into one of Nintendo's best-selling properties with landmark titles in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Echoes of Wisdom released toward the end of the original Nintendo Switch's life cycle, but Nintendo has already revealed quite a bit about the next generation of adventures in Hyrule. Here's every Legend of Zelda game on the Nintendo Switch as well as new Zelda games coming to the Switch 2.

How Many Zelda Games Are There on Nintendo Switch?

In total, five Zelda games, three Hyrule Warriors games, and one spin-off game have been released specifically for the Nintendo Switch. This includes both mainline entries and spinoff games that were released from 2017 to 2026. All of these Zelda games are playable on the Switch 2.

All Zelda Switch Games in Order of Release Date

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 2017

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the first Zelda title released for Nintendo Switch. Launching alongside the system, this title marked a turning point in the Zelda series, bringing a style of open world gameplay that we'd never seen before. You can traverse to anywhere you can see in the world. Link awakes after a 100 year slumber, where he is tasked by the spirit of Hyrule's former King to save Princess Zelda from Calamity Ganon - a primal evil trapped inside Hyrule Castle.

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition - 2018

Hyrule Warriors is an action hack and slash title developed by Omega Force and originally released for the Wii U. Characters from all kinds of Zelda games make an appearance, whether as playable characters or villains. The game was brought over to Nintendo Switch in 2018 in the form of Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, and includes all characters, stages, and modes from the original game in addition to Breath of the Wild inspired costumes for Link and Zelda.

Cadence of Hyrule - 2019

Cadence of Hyrule is an extremely unqiue collaboration between Brace Yourself Games and Nintendo. The game combines the roguelike rhythm gameplay of Crypt of the NecroDancer with the world of The Legend of Zelda and its characters. This spinoff offers an incredible soundtrack and beautiful pixelated graphics. Up against Octavo, a musical villain, Zelda and Link team up with Cadence to thwart his plans and save the Hyrule.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - 2019

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is a remake of 1993 Game Boy title developed by Grezzo. This charming platformer sees Link castaway at Koholint Island, where he must solve the mystery of the Wind Fish, a legendary being said to be on the island. Unlike some of the more modern Zelda titles, Link's Awakening takes you across many different dungeons and areas to collect the Instruments of the Sirens. If you never got the chance to play the original Link's Awakening, this is the definitive way to experience one of the Zelda series' most unique titles.

Read our review of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity - 2020

The second Switch entry in the Hyrule Warriors series, Age of Calamity is set 100 years before the events of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Here, you can experience firsthand the events that occured in the fight against Calamity Ganon. All of your favorite Breath of the Wild cahracters are here and playable, including Link, Zelda, the Champions, and so many more. Omega Force created a fun and expansive title, with two waves of DLC you can check out after completing the main story.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD - 2021

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is the long-awaited remaster of the classic Wii game. Set at the beginning of the Zelda timeline, Skyward Sword takes Link to the skies as he traverses across the world to save his childhood friend Zelda. You'll uncover the Master Sword was created as part of this journey, among other things. The remaster includes the iconic motion controls you can operate with the Joy-Con and a new button-only gameplay style for those looking to play without motion.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - 2023

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom hit the market in 2023, selling over 10 million copies in just three days as well as quite a few special edition Switch consoles. Set a few years after the events of Breath of the Wild, Link is tasked once again with finding Princess Zelda after Ganondorf is resurrected. Tears of the Kingdom takes to both the skies of Hyrule and the depths below the land. This creates one of the largest maps you'll find in any game, leaving for hundreds of hours of exploration to be had. All in all, it's the best Zelda game of all time and a hard one to follow.

Read our original review of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom or see what we thought about the Switch 2 version.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - 2024

But, of course, Tears of the Kingdom was not the end of this beloved Nintendo franchise on the original Switch. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom was announced during the June 2024 Nintendo Direct before launching on the Switch in the fall later that year. While Echoes has the titular Princess take the story's reigns, and features a more 2D art style à la Link's Awakening, it should not be mistaken as a spin-off or side project. This is a full-blown, magical Zelda game, that lets you unlock your creativity to try and save Link and the rest of Hyrule in entirely new ways.

Read our review of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment - 2025

The latest Zelda-adjacent release is a new entry in the Hyrule Warriors series. Nintendo has heavily emphasized that the story is canon, giving us a deeper look at the Imprisoning War in what is essentially a prequel to Tears of the Kingdom. You get to play as a spread of different characters, including Princess Zelda, who has been sent into Hyrule's past and must work with new allies in the fight against Ganandorf.

What's Next for Zelda on Switch 2?

There has been no news of upcoming mainline Legend of Zelda games. We'll be sure to let you know as soon as it's announced, because it's almost certainly in Nintendo's pipeline. In the meantime, Nintendo has announced other plans with the franchise.

LEGO The Legend of Zelda

First up, Nintendo has officially teased a new LEGO The Legend of Zelda set as a follow-up to the LEGO Great Deku Tree. The next set seems to be inspired specifically by Ocarina of Time and will be released at some point in 2026, when we're also expecting the first LEGO x Pokemon collab.

Upcoming Zelda Movie

In addition to the games themselves, Nintendo has also announced they will be bringing Hyrule to the big screen with a live-action Legend of Zelda movie. In terms of details, the movie's director, Wes Ball (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes), has expressed his desire to make a more "grounded" Zelda adaptation that feels like live-action Miyazaki. The Zelda movie will be releasing in theaters on March 26, 2027 and Nintendo has officially confirmed the actors playing both Link and Zelda.

Predator: Badlands Lands on Digital, 4K Steelbook Out February 17

6 janvier 2026 à 18:34

After the critically acclaimed streaming hit Prey and animated anthology Killer of Killers, Dan Trachtenberg’s third directorial entry into the Predator franchise finally introduced the concept of “Predator as protagonist.” Along with the suprise addition of a Weyland Yutani synth played by Elle Fanning, the result ended up being the highest-grossing Predator movie of all time.

If you weren’t able to catch it in theaters or prefer to delight in the hunt from the comfort of your own couch, Predator: Badlands is now available to rent or buy online through digital marketplaces like Prime Video.

Predator: Badlands Now Available on Digital

The most recent Predator movie arrived on digital almost exactly two months after its initial theatrical release on November 7, 2025. Since then, the film has grossed over $180 million globally. Clint Gage’s review of the movie for IGN highlights Trachtenberg’s fresh take on the franchise: “Dek and Thia are an unexpectedly fun pairing that bring a new energy to the franchise and an altogether different kind of hunt.”

Predator fans had plenty to enjoy last year, starting with Trachtenberg’s Predator: Killer of Killers, an animated anthology IGN's review describes as showing "just how cool a Predator fighting Vikings or ninja can be.” Predator: Badlands also anchors its plot in a connection to the Alien franchise, which had its first TV show last year with Alien: Earth on Hulu.

Is this pointing toward another full crossover? While we haven’t heard any specific updates, I’d be surprised if we don’t see the Predator return in some capacity sooner rather than later.

Streaming Release Date TBA

Predator: Badlands will join the rest of the Predator franchise on Hulu within the next couple months, most likely after the DVD release in mid-February. Hulu itself is also about to have a bit of a funky year as it officially merges into the Disney+ app.

4K Steelbook Up for Preorder, Out February 17

Given how expensive digital releases are nowadays, I think it’s always worth taking a look at the physical media alternatives. A February 17 Blu-ray release date was announced alongside today’s digital release, but as of now, the only Predator: Badlands listing available in the US is the 4K UHD steelbook up for preorder at Walmart. It’s currently running for $44.99, and appears to include a decent spread of bonus features about the artistry behind the film.

Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day Gets a Massive Mural Advertisement... in Downtown Kansas City

6 janvier 2026 à 17:57

Steven Spielberg and Universal Studios would like you to know that Disclosure Day is on the way, and they're letting you know about it with a massive, buildingside mural ad. But rather than setting it up in Hollywood, where these things usually appear, it's popped up in an unusual location: Kansas City, Missouri.

This was brought to my attention a week ago by u/KCLawgirl over on the Kansas City subreddit, and I strolled downtown to look for it today. It's been painted on the Mainmark building, at 1627 Main Street in the downtown Crossroads area. You can get a really good view of it from Walnut Street nearby, if you stand in the park between 16th and 17th, or you can just drive south down Main St.

The precense of such a billboard in Kansas City might not sound extraordinary, especially if you've seen the teaser for Spielberg's upcoming sci-fi thriller, which reveals it is set (at least in part) in Kansas City. But for Kansas City residents (hi), it is pretty weird, even a little cool! We almost never get big film ads like this here. I won't say never ever, because it's possible there have been some I missed, but some research into the recorded history of the Mainmark building suggests that this is a pretty rare thing. Many of the ads over the years have been for cell phone services, with occasional interruptions for local sports-politics such as the push for Kansas City to be a World Cup host city (which it is, this year) and a more recent one advocating for the Royals to move their stadium downtown.

I don't know that Disclosure Day is necessarily going to be a massive hit in Kansas City specifically, but I know that plenty of residents will be watching it like red-tailed hawks for any specific references to our fair city, or any slip-ups ala Ted Lasso referring to the airport as "KCI" and suggesting it might have direct flights to Heathrow (lol). Of course, the Kansas City bit of Ted Lasso Season 3 was filmed locally with more to come in Season 4, but it sounds like Disclosure Day was filmed in New Jersey. Rats.

Disclosure Day lands in theaters on June 12, 2026, and is created and directed by Steven Spielberg, and stars Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer, A Quiet Place), as well as Josh O’Connor (Challengers, The Crown), Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, Kingsman franchise), Eve Hewson (Bad Sisters, The Perfect Couple), and Colman Domingo (Sing Sing, Rustin). We think it has something to do with aliens? The trailer is mysterious and deliberately unclear in the interest of building suspense. Per the tagline: "if you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people.

"We are coming close to... Disclosure Day."

Will aliens descend on Kansas City? Will they land on the Missouri side or the Kansas side? Do they like BBQ? I, and many of my fellow Kansas City nerds, are waiting to find out.

Amazon's Tomb Raider Cast Confirmed, Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs Roles Revealed

6 janvier 2026 à 17:40

The process is well and truly underway to finally bring the iconic video game legend Lara Croft to the screen once again. Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s upcoming Tomb Raider series for Amazon has officially added a bunch of new talent to the cast, including some huge names.

Alien and Avatar star Sigourney Weaver and Lucius Malfoy actor Jason Isaacs will appear in the series alongside Sophie Turner, who was previously announced to be taking on the role of Croft. Weaver will play Evelyn Wallis, a new character not featured in the original games who is described by the studio as a “mysterious, high-flying woman who is keen to exploit Lara's talents.”

Unlike Weaver, Isaacs will play a character who is canon to the franchise: Croft’s uncle, Atlas DeMornay. Two other canon roles have been cast: Bill Paterson (Lord Lyman Beesbury in House of the Dragon) will play Winston, the Croft family’s longtime butler, while Martin Bobb-Semple takes on the role of Zip, Croft’s right-hand tech support and close friend.

Additionally, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Celia Imrie, Patterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, August Wittgenstein, and Juliette Motamed (who is excellent in the Peacock series We Are Lady Parts, by the way) have joined the cast in various roles that have been created specifically for the series, which will “reinvent the franchise on a massive scale” and will interconnect “live-action television series and video games into a unified storytelling universe.”

“Tomb Raider boasts a plethora of iconic characters,” Waller-Bridge explained in a statement. “I am thrilled to have been able to bring some personal and fan favourites to the screen while also introducing a few new rascals of our own to the mix. This cast is beyond my wildest dreams!”

Peter Friedlander, the head of Amazon MGM Studios, expressed a similar sentiment. “Tomb Raider has always been defined by bold storytelling and unforgettable characters, and these new cast members bring incredible depth and gravitas to the series. With talents like Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs joining the ensemble, we’re elevating this world in exciting new ways, and can’t wait for our global Prime Video audience to experience this next chapter of Tomb Raider.”

Tomb Raider cast announcement:

The following cast are confirmed in canon roles from the Tomb Raider video game franchise:

  • Martin Bobb-Semple is Zip. Zip is Lara Croft’s long-standing tech support and friend.
  • Jason Isaacs is Atlas DeMornay. Atlas is Lara’s uncle.
  • Bill Paterson is Winston. Winston is the long-standing Croft family butler.

The following cast are confirmed for roles to the Tomb Raider universe:

  • Jack Bannon is Gerry. Gerry is Lara’s personal pilot and snack collector.
  • John Heffernan is David. David is an exhausted government official who finds himself tangled up in Lara's unusual world.
  • Celia Imrie is Francine. Francine is the Head of Advancement at the British Museum, focused solely on raising funds and glasses of champagne.
  • Paterson Joseph is Thomas Warner. Thomas Warner is a senior government official brought in to clean up an almighty mess.
  • Sasha Luss is Sasha. Sasha is a fierce, deeply competitive new adversary of Lara’s.
  • Juliette Motamed is Georgia. Georgia is a devoted, by-the-books curator at the British Museum, dedicated to the ‘proper’ preservation of history.
  • Sigourney Weaver is Evelyn Wallis. A mysterious, high-flying woman who is keen to exploit Lara's talents.
  • August Wittgenstein is Lukas. Lukas is an illegal raider who shares history with Lara in more ways than one.

The upcoming series is bound to be interesting at the very least, especially with Turner and Waller-Bridge (as well as co-showrunner Chad Hodge) at the helm — but it looks as though it will be a while before we have a release date, as the series was reported back in September to start filming this month.

Sadie Sink Says 'It's Torture' Not Being Allowed to Talk About Which Character She's Playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day

6 janvier 2026 à 17:25

Not only can Sadie Sink not talk about Spider-Man: Brand New Day, she can’t even say who she’s playing, something she has described as “torture.”

The Stranger Things star has been seen filming opposite Tom Holland, still with her natural red hair — something that has fuelled fan speculation that she's playing a familiar redheaded character from the Marvel comics.

Last month, an alleged look at Spider-Man: Brand New Day appeared online, offering a clue to Sadie Sink's mystery character. The leaked Spider-Man trailer was of extremely low quality, but appeared to show Sadie Sink's character threatening Peter Parker — and claiming to know his secret identity as Spider-Man.

Sink's role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been kept firmly under wraps by Sony since her casting was announced, while a recent on-set sighting showed the Stranger Things star bundled up in an apparent bid to hide her costume.

Fan speculation on who Sink might be playing has been rife, with everyone from the X-Men's Jean Grey to Mayday Parker up for grabs. But a persistent rumor has pointed to Sink playing shapeshifting multiversal villain Shathra. "You're a mess, Spider-Man," Sink's character says in the leaked trailer. "Don't get in my way. Otherwise, it won't just be your friends who don't remember who Peter Parker is."

Could this be a double bluff? Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man movies have a habit of surprising audiences with characters' true identities (MJ and Mysterio, to name two). And with Sink reportedly returning for 2027's climactic Avengers: Secret Wars, has she really just been cast as this film's villain?

Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Sink was asked what it’s like not being able to talk about her role on the hotly-anticipated sequel.

“It's torture!” she replied. “And there's so much speculation, too. I feel like there's a new character every week.”

Sink did confirm that she has talked about what she’s up to family members, before revealing that she read about her casting in Spider-Man online before she was even asked to appear in the movie.

“I found out through online theories,” she said. “Like, before I got cast in Spider-Man, like, there was speculation online that said, ‘Sadie Sink is going to be in the new Spider-Man. I was like, ‘Hmm? I am?’ And then sure enough, like two days later, they asked me to do it.

“So yeah, those theories are sometimes… there's sometimes some truth to it.”

Sink is fresh from starring in the much-discussed Stranger Things finale, and the actress has offered her interpretation of the ending and Eleven’s fate. Spider-Man: Brand New Day launches this summer.

Next Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Leaks Online, Reveals Unlikely Teamup

6 janvier 2026 à 16:18

As has become Avengers: Doomsday tradition, the latest teaser trailer has leaked online ahead of its release in theaters, revealing an unlikely teamup in the process.

Warning! Spoilers for the fourth Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailer follows:

The fourth teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, which is doing the rounds on social media, shows off the returning Wakandans. We see Shuri as Black Panther, King M'Baku, Namora, and Namor, with Shuri talking seriously about what sounds like the coming battle with Doctor Doom.

The trailer begins with Shuri saying she’s lost everyone that mattered to her (see the events of Black Panther 2), then, as we switch to a look at Namor, adds: “a king has his duties to prepare our people for the afterlife. I have mine.”

We then get a moment of comedy with a surprise appearance from Ben Grimm / The Thing in full The Fantastic Four costume meeting M'Baku. M'Baku introduces himself as “King M'Baku, of Wakanda.” Grimm replies: “Ben, Yancy Street, between Broome and Grand.”

The trailer ends with the line, 'The Wakandans and The Fantastic Four will return in Avengers: Doomsday.'

The trailer poses a number of questions. Where does this meeting between the Wakandans and The Thing take place? Is Ben Grimm alone here, or with the other members of The Fantastic Four? How did The Thing come to be in the same universe as the Wakandans? And why are they teaming up in the first place? Surely Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom is at the heart of the answers.

It's worth remembering that last year's Thunderbolts movie teased the arrival of The Fantastic Four in the main MCU universe, when we see The New Avengers, as they're now called, spot an interdimensional spaceship donning the Fantastic Four’s logo head their way. The end of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, meanwhile, ended with Doctor Doom appearing to kidnap Franklin Richards, the son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm.

The leak follows hot on the heels of the official release of last week's Avengers: Doomsday trailer, which teases the arrival of the X-Men. The Avengers: Doomsday trailers have so far followed the same pattern: leak online, release in theaters ahead of Disney's Avatar: Fire and Ash for a week, then run officially online. This fourth trailer was thought to be showing off Doctor Doom. Perhaps Marvel has more teasers up its sleeve.

The X-Men trailer shows Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops in what looks like a last stand against Sentinels at the X-Mansion. The Avengers: Doomsday hype train kicked off with the Steve Rogers / Captain America teaser, which shows Chris Evans’ character holding a baby, presumably his child with Peggy Carter. This was followed by the Thor trailer, which shows Chris Hemsworth's Asgardian caring for his adopted daughter, Love. The teaser shows Thor (this time with the short-haired look from the much-loved and hugely successful Thor Ragnarok) pray to his father, Odin (played by Anthony Hopkins in the MCU), calling for the “strength of the All-Fathers” so he may “fight once more… defeat one more enemy and return home to her.”

The Wakandans teaser follows a similar theme, with an ominous tone set out by Shuri that, alongside the meeting with The Fantastic Four, suggests a preparation for a significant battle that has our heroes really worried. We expect the trailer to be released officially this time next week. Avengers: Doomsday, meanwhile, is due out December 18, 2026.

Wolverine Actor Hugh Jackman Stars in First Trailer for The Death of Robin Hood

6 janvier 2026 à 15:36

The first trailer for the upcoming film The Death of Robin Hood has been released, and gives us a first look at the latest actor to play the legendary archer.

Hugh Jackman, star of Deadpool & Wolverine, The Greatest Showman, and The Prestige, is swapping his adamantium claws for a bow and arrow in the teaser for the 2026 movie directed by Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One director, Michael Sarnoski.

While his old teammates in the X-Men may well have got a new trailer today as they gear up for an appearance in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday, Jackman can be seen portraying an older version of the outlaw than we’re used to seeing on screen. The film is said to follow a more mature depiction of the British mythical figure, as he contends with his past life full of violence and crime. From what we can see in the trailer, it seems like the tone may not be a million miles away from 2017’s Logan, in which Jackman plays an ageing Wolverine.

Jackman follows in a long line of actors who have played the Nottingham archer, but from the trailer, it does at least appear that his British accent will be a lot better than Russell Crowe’s attempt was back in Ridley Scott’s 2010 action-adventure. Other stars who have taken up the mantle include Kevin Costner, Sean Connery, Errol Flynn, and Taron Egerton.

An A24 production, the film, described as a thriller, also includes 28 Years Later’s Jodie Comer, Pennywise actor Bill Skarsgård, and The Last of Us TV Show’s Murray Bartlett in its cast.

The trailer drops amidst speculation over whether or not Jackman will return to his most iconic role as the X-Men’s Wolverine. On the BBC’s The Graham Norton Show, the actor recently replied when asked about donning the yellow superhero suit again, “I am never saying ‘never’ ever again. Because I did mean it when I said ‘never’ until the day when I changed my mind. But I really did, for quite a few years, I meant it.”

Would you like Hugh Jackman to reprise his Wolverine character in Avengers: Doomsday? Let us know in the comments!

Marvel Officially Releases Avengers: Doomsday X-Men Teaser Trailer Online, Shows Cyclops, Professor X, and Magneto

6 janvier 2026 à 15:08

Marvel has officially released the X-Men teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, after a week spent in theaters ahead of Avatar: Fire and Ash.

The trailer, which had leaked last week, shows Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops, with a fourth teaser thought to be headed to theaters now. It follows the Steve Rogers / Captain America teaser for Avengers: Doomsday, which shows Chris Evans’ character holding a baby, presumably his child with Peggy Carter, and the Thor trailer, which shows Chris Hemsworth's Asgardian caring for his adopted daughter, Love.

As we know, Avengers: Doomsday is confirmed to feature a number of X-Men characters played by their original actors, including Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), and James Marsden (Cyclops).

In the trailer, we see Ian McKellen reprise his role as Magneto, although not in battle costume. Patrick Stewart’s Professor X wears a costume that bears a resemblance to the militaristic suit he wore in the comics, although his much-loved yellow chair is nowhere to be seen. Overall, it looks like Avengers: Doomsday is looking to the 90s for inspiration for the X-Men's design, which will no-doubt delight veteran fans of the mutant superhero team and align with the popular animated X-Men series.

The footage we see is set in the X-Mansion, also known as Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. In one shot, we see Cyclops let rip with an optic blast, and near him is a giant boot, which we presume belongs to a mutant-hunting Sentinel. Like with the Thor trailer, the tone here is dead serious. Magneto talks about death coming for everyone eventually as he and his old friend Charles hold hands, perhaps awaiting their demise at the hands of Doctor Doom.

This ties into leaked set photos that appeared to tease a huge battle at the X-Mansion. At the time, fans speculated that this battle would feature Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom controlling Sentinels that attack the X-Men as part of an incursion, and that it would go very badly for the X-Men, potentially even wiping the mutants out. The theory is that this would establish the universe-ending potential of Doctor Doom, in a similar way Avengers: Infinity War kicked off with Thanos beating Hulk so badly Hulk basically went into hiding for the rest of the MCU phase.

But the highlight is a comic book accurate live-action version of Cyclops. This is something fans have been waiting 20 years for, after Fox’s X-Men movies made a point of distancing themselves from the comics by going with black suits. Cyclops tears off his visor and lets rip as the X-Mansion erupts in flame around him. It feels like a hail mary, and some fans are worried Cyclops is going to sacrifice himself to save some of his fellow mutants in the attack.

The question is, who makes it out of this battle alive? Will whoever’s left of the X-Men team up with the Avengers and other superheroes confirmed to appear in Doomsday to take on Doctor Doom, or do they spend most of their time fighting each other throughout Doomsday, only putting their differences aside for 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars? Either way, the X-Mansion looks like it’s toast — again.

CES 2026: Razer Goes Full AI With a Dual POV Camera Gaming Headset and a 6-Inch Screen-Watching Hologram

6 janvier 2026 à 15:00

Razer has joined many other companies in focusing its CES 2026 announcements around AI features, with both hardware and software getting AI 'upgrades' in the new year. The most fascinating is a classic Razer CES prototype, an AI-equipped gaming headset called Project Motoko, but there's also a deployable AI companion that is meant to live on your desk called Project Ava.

Razer also announced some thankfully AI-free products at the show, including the Wolverine V3 Bluetooth – a controller that it is calling 'the world's fastest wireless gaming controller' – and a pair of gaming chairs, including an immersive gaming chair concept and a next-gen Razer Iskur chair that is designed to stay cooler for longer.

Project Motoko: a gaming headset with dual first-person cameras, a Snapdragon chip and built-in AI

The Project Motoko concept is reasonable – by CES standards at least – essentially coupling a Razer gaming headset with a Snapdragon-powered AI. A camera is built into each earcup of the headset, so it can see what you see, and you can ask it questions, like 'how do I beat this boss?' in Dark Souls or 'what should I build next?' in a League of Legends game.

Razer's marketing video also shows plenty of non-gaming scenarios, like asking the headset to summarise pages from a book, suggest a recipe from a group of assembled ingredients or produce a 30-minute workout on the back lawn. The headset also identifies an approaching person and reminds the wearer of their recent promotion, which would require a much tighter level of integration with your personal data to work. Each of these interactions feel less convincing than the gaming use-cases, but this is clearly more of a statement of intent, but Razer assured us that this will be a real product sometime this year – we'll see.

As with some other Razer AI integrations that have been announced recently, the idea is that Project Motoko would allow access to a range of existing AI platforms rather than creating a new Razer one – so you would be able to select from the likes of ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and so on.

Project Ava: a desk-based AI companion

If you'd prefer a more stationary AI assistant, Project Ava is designed to be a personable companion that lives in a small cylinder, with a 5.5-inch animated 'hologram' on the front that displays the AI as one of several selectable avatars. Ava can once again see and hear you using a camera and far-field microphone, remember your preferences, see your screen via its USB connection and generally take you closer to the HAL 9000 future we're all looking forward to. Once again, the focus is on gaming, though Razer's marketing blurbs also mention working to organise your personal schedule, improve your outfit or plan your dinner.

Wolverine V3 Bluetooth: a low-latency controller for cloud gaming

The mention of the Wolverine V3 Bluetooth caused my ears to prick up, as it's rare to hear of a Bluetooth controller offering better wireless latency than a 2.4GHz wireless or wired USB connection. However, that's exactly what Razer is claiming to have achieved in partnership with LG, with a gamepad designed to work with cloud gaming on LG TVs. The feat is down to its use of ultra-low latency Bluetooth, which Razer says is a world-first, and allows for response times under 3ms. The controller can also control a selection of new LG TVs, and holds a 'designed for LG Gaming Portal' certification, with 4K 120Hz HDR streaming via GeForce Now.

Razer Iskur V2 NewGen and Project Madison: next-gen gaming chairs

The Razer Iskur V2 is an existing product, so I was surprised to see Razer to announce another Iskur V2 gaming chair as part of their CES 2026 lineup. The new generation model has two major changes compared to its predecessor, starting with a more advanced adjustable lumbar support system that aims to prevent back pain caused by bad posture. The Iskur V2 was already more capable than your average gaming chair in this respect, with plenty of adjustability, but the new generation model includes a 360-degree swivel design that can move dynamically, theoretically ensuring that your back remains supported even after changing position.

The new Iskur V2 also swaps standard polyurethane leather for EPU leather, which Razer claims has higher thermal effusivity – meaning it doesn't transfer heat to your body as quickly as other materials. You can think of the difference between a metal camping cup and a thick bone china mug; the exterior of the metal cup will feel hotter even when it has the same surface temperature as the mug, as the heat will move into your hand much more readily. The EPU also should be more durable and hard-wearing than its PU counterpart. Finally, 'dual-density cold-cured foam' is used for the seat cushion, providing another mechanism for heat to be wicked away from your body.

The new Razer Iskur models are available for pre-order and start at $650 for the V2 model or $350 for the more basic V2 X, which lacks the lumbar support of the V2.

Razer is also showing off a concept chair, this time around the theme of immersive gaming. Project Madison is designed to combine light, sound and vibration to more fully ground you in virtual worlds, a conceit that is very Razer. Sight is covered by RGB lighting built into the headrest – though it's hard to imagine how you can see it while sitting in the chair – while hearing is handled by an integrated speaker system, which can be used standalone or with front speakers to serve as a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound setup. The final dimension is touch, with 'multi-zone haptic feedback' delivered via six motors and based off on-screen 'intensity and directionality'.

Madison sounds like a fun CES demo, but we'll have to wait and see to find out if Razer is able to take the core of the concept into a shipping product.

Romeo Is a Dead Man Brings Gameplay Maturity to Suda51’s Signature Madness

6 janvier 2026 à 15:00

You can’t always describe Goichi Suda and Grasshopper Manufacture’s games, but you know them when you see them. Examples like Let It Die and Lollipop Chainsaw might not resemble each other on paper, but spend any length of time with them and their specific high energy, off-the-wall style, brash tone, and script that's just wall-to-wall one-liners and you'll see that could really only ever come from one place. Just a few minutes with their latest slasher, Romeo Is a Dead Man, and yeah the boys are definitely back in town. But after playing the first two chapters, the latest mad science experiment of an action game helmed by Suda51, it clearly takes some big steps forward in art design and presentation that really raises the “Wow I didn’t see that coming” bar. Even the action, though not revolutionary, feels like a real commitment has been made to evolve the studio’s image from “crazy fun games to watch clips from” to “crazy fun games to spend countless hours with.”

There are a lot of Grasshopper-style things that are to be expected in Romeo Is a Dead Man: relentless absurdist humor, gore galore, killing the past, etc. But the signature erratic tone set as far back as Killer7 feels turned up to 11 here. The breakneck pace at which exposition gets sort of vomited at you, scenes change from focused narration to chaotic combat, and more is pretty intense. It’s not necessarily hard to follow, but more than once in my two or so hours with the game did I have to take a minute or two to simply digest what the hell was going on.

You play as the titular Romeo, who does have himself a Juliet, but the only way this game showed any resemblance to your favorite play from high school is that both of them die. Romeo is a deputy sheriff who gets his face ripped off by an interdimensional zombie ghoul and is transformed into a sort of Space Sheriff Gavan-style superhero that keeps him in a state of undeath and is drafted in to a sort of space time division of the FBI to hunt the sort of monsters that tried to kill him. Juliet, who arrived in Romeo’s little Appalachian town through mysterious circumstances, is actually some kind of extradimensional being who seems to keep popping up in people’s dimensions and mucking up the place, and is one of Romeo’s first targets.

Romeo Is a Dead Man’s story might be among the most ridiculous and far flung of Suda and Co.’s gameography, but it holds tightly to its fourth wall-breaking sense of humor and over the top characters that define the studio.

That’s the simple version, completely glossing over things like the fact that the guy who saved Romeo is allegedly his time-traveling grandfather – who is also killed by face eaters but now just lives in a patch on Romeo’s jacket, for starters. Romeo Is a Dead Man’s story might be among the most ridiculous and far flung of Suda and Co.’s gameography, but it holds tightly to its fourth wall-breaking sense of humor and over the top characters that define the studio. It’s relatively easy to follow, and told in such a way to purposefully cast doubt on if what you’re attempting to decipher is even real. But it is engaging, if not always well-written or acted. And even then, it's told through a collage of mixed media that really kept me enthralled.

The opening sequence is a flyover of a tilt-shifted, handmade diorama. From there, we transition into a standard cutscene rendered in full 3D as one would expect, and the next scene might be a vividly detailed comic strip. Inside levels, small televisions appear with pixelated animations on them that serve as portals transporting you to spaces that look more like the Street Fighter training room with a stock jungle image in the background. When teleporting to your FBI HQ – a ship called The Last Night – you navigate it like a top-down 32-bit Sega Genesis-style RPG. When you die, the “game over” screen is an FMV of a human-like prosthetic face getting melted off. It’s all jarring, and frankly, pretty awesome.

Grasshopper games have a bit of a reputation for having stories and presentation given texture through tons of references to pop culture, classic literature, and raucous music, but not having the same sort of depth when it comes time to beat ass, the misunderstood Killer Is Dead excluded. Romeo Is a Dead Man isn’t Devil May Cry, but it has a lot of layered systems that create a combat experience that I really came to like quite a bit. You have basic light and heavy attacks with their own attack strings that can be stopped early but not canceled out with a dodge or something like that, so every swing is a commitment. When surrounded by enemies, even the simple cannon fodder basic zombies, it can be tough to make it out unscathed since these attacks don't stun enemies very reliably, meaning they're often free to slap as you slap them. I spent a lot of my time trying to stay outside of mobs, picking away at the edges with melee attacks or shots with guns at range and avoiding getting overwhelmed until I built enough of my blood meter through my attacks to use a special Bloody Summer attack for big damage.

This pretty simple loop was a bit of a let down for me early on, as Chapter 1 lacked attack and enemy variety, or really any challenge or pushback at all. And if I would have stopped my time after slaying the pretty straightforward end-level boss, a towering giant spawned after a Juliet clone ripped off her own head and threw it into a campfire, I would have missed the metric ton of new stuff that drops right after that gives Romeo so many more toys to work with. After flying back to HQ to report a job well done, I could buy more and different weapons – all which add their own sort of approach to regular combat – and could be swapped between in the field. I don’t think the melee weapons forced me to change my playstyle in the way a heavy greatsword, set of robot gauntlets, and spear that split into dual blades should, but the ranged weapons did. The pistol, shotgun, rocket launcher, and machine gun all forced me to work around their strengths way differently, if I was going to choose to lean on them.

Romeo is a Dead Man’s weirdest and best feature, though, are bastards – zombies that you can grow like plants that have special abilities that you can equip to use in battle.

Romeo is a Dead Man’s weirdest and best feature, though, are bastards – zombies that you can grow like plants that have special abilities that you can equip to use in battle, like one that spits poison or one that blows itself up on enemies. This gives you so many more ways to control crowds and keep your offense effective against a cohort of bad guys that also grow more deadly. Basic foes with guns (at least on the 3 out of 4 difficulty I was playing on) provided a significant jump in danger when they repeatedly shot at me while being tucked behind hordes of zombies. Mix that with the spicier sort of mutants that ram you with their giant tomato heads or scorpion-shaped bomb lobbers that leave toxic trails, and any given scenario could become a death trap. Even the second boss, a giant mutant head you fight between two floors of a mall food court, is a huge step up in quality from the first.

It’s a pretty old-school action game. There aren’t a lot of nuanced mechanics like dodges cancels. There's not even a parry or a block – at least in the beginning. But I enjoyed the relatively simple push and pull of each stage with the systems that exist quite a lot, even if the camera became a monster on its own. With everything properly in frame things still get very busy on screen very quickly, mostly due to the truly egregious levels of blood and particle effects that come off of enemies as you slash them up. Mix that with the text bubbles that pop up from characters trying to give you some unvoiced dialogue usually fight in the middle of combat and it can be hard to focus on the task at hand.

Sometimes despite itself, Romeo Is a Dead Man is shaping up to be a frantic action romp worthy of the Grasshopper Manufacture pedigree. Its somewhat traditional action mechanics don’t really test your reflexes and make an underwhelming first impression, but does pay off patience when rewarding good positioning and smart use of your bastard skills to get a leg up on the more eccentric enemies past the first chapter. It’s crazy throughout, using strong humor and marvelous art direction at a breakneck speed to make its truly bonkers space-traveling love story one worth patiently waiting until February 11 for.

How PUBG MOBILE Esports’ $3m Global Championship Took Over Bangkok and What’s Next in 2026?

6 janvier 2026 à 14:56

The screen they play on may be small, but for competitors in the 2025 PUBG MOBILE Global Championship (PMGC), the tournament is anything but. Between 12-14 December, 16 teams from all around the world gathered in Thailand to give it their all on a giant stage in front of a legion of cheering fans.

This major global competition is the conclusion of more than a year of training and face-offs for these professional teams, all leading towards the prestigious event in the circuit. In qualifying for this ultimate trial, teams went head-to-head once more to take the 2025 PMGC title and the lion’s share of $3m — one of the largest prize pools in esports.

But that wasn’t all, the tournament expanded beyond the venue’s walls, with PUBG MOBILE activations popping up around Bangkok. IGN was on the ground to witness the grand finals, soak up the festival-like atmosphere, and learn more about how PUBG MOBILE Esports is growing in 2026.

DROPPING INTO BANGKOK

The Grand Finals of 2025 PMGC may have taken place on the 5th floor of the luxurious Siam Paragon shopping mall, but the celebrations extended far and wide. Both inside and outside the venue, PUBG MOBILE pop-ups, collaborations, and installations brought a vibrant energy to proceedings, providing fans and players who travelled from across the globe with unique experiences, in addition to the spectacle of the Grand Finals.

On our first day, after entering past the plane-themed check-in desk, we found ourselves in the PUBG United Fan Zone, an area seemingly filled with as many activities as there were attendees. This marked a pivotal moment for PUBG MOBILE, as it collaborated with PUBG for the first time ever to celebrate a long-standing history of competition and sportsmanship conveyed through the 2025 PMGC and PUBG Global Championship 2025 (PGC). This certainly showed, as lining the walls of the Fan Zone were interactive experiences ranging from a human claw machine, glambot, PUBG café, Frosty Barbershop (where I got a PUBG MOBILE-themed temporary tattoo), Metro Royale battle experience, and a World of Wonder Challenge area where players could get hands on with curated UGC experiences.

In the centre of the Fan Zone, the PUBG MOBILE Air Drop Stage hosted multiple performances from bands (Thai artists Paper Planes were a particular highlight, getting the crowd jumping and singing along with their pop-punk anthems), as well as several Muay Thai fights – truly ‘kicking’ things off.

Following the opening ceremony and 2026 PUBG MOBILE Esports announcements (more on that later), we swung by the PDP Creative Zone, home to a colossal PUBG MOBILE helmet that had been decorated by selected PDP artists and designers during the event. As if that wasn’t enough, the approach to the stage also featured pop-ups collaborations with Porsche and Thai bakery brand famous for its adorable mascot character, Butterbear.

And that was just a selection of what was going on in the venue! Once the first matches of the Grand Finals were finished, it was time for Bangkok to show that PUBG United had arrived in the city. After a quick trip to the Chao Phraya River in a PUBG MOBILE branded Tuk Tuk, we witnessed the PUBG MOBILE drone light show featuring hundreds of drones lighting up the sky. These formed iconic PUBG MOBILE imagery, including ‘Winner Winner Chicken Dinner’, characters dropping into the map, and appropriately, Air Drop crates. Plus, if you kept an eye out on the Chao Phraya River, you could even see the PUBG MOBILE Giant Boat making a splash.

ONE WORLD, TWO CHAMPIONS

As mentioned, for the first time ever, both the PUBG MOBILE and PUBG Global Championships came together for a unified global event – PUBG United – a celebration of both games and their communities. The sense of two giants coming together was felt, and illustrated, by the two giant back-to-back stages that hosted the Grand Finals, with gameplay and crucial team standings displayed on the wall-to-wall screens, giving attendees a great view of the action wherever they were sat.

Speaking of giants, PUBG MOBILE’s collaboration with luxury brands took a big step up this year. Building on a successful collaboration campaign between Porsche and PUBG MOBILE, it was announced that Porsche would invigorate the PMGC stage with the prize of a Porsche Cayenne to the MVP player of the 2025 PMGC Grand Finals. For 2025 PMGC MVP ‘TOP’, from team Alpha Gaming, it's likely this softened the blow of coming third place overall.

For the winners however, another collaboration offered up its own prize, as the collaboration between PUBG MOBILE and renowned luxury fashion house Balenciaga saw the two brands converge their unique identities again, this time with an exclusive designed jacket that only the Champions of the 2025 PUBG MOBILE Global Championship had the honour of wearing and owning. With this, in addition to the glory of being crowned 2025 PMGC Champions and lifting the trophy, team Alpha 7 esports were adorned with exclusive 2025 PMGC Champion jackets.

MOBILE GROWTH

With more than 1 billion downloads around the world, and over 50 million daily active users, PUBG MOBILE is one of the most popular mobile games in the world – so it tracks that the game’s esports scene is also hugely popular, and continues to grow. With more than 1 billion downloads around the world, and over 50 million daily active users, PUBG MOBILE is one of the most popular mobile games in the world – so it tracks that the game’s esports scene is also hugely popular, and continues to grow.

This growth and success was exemplified by PUBG MOBILE being awarded Mobile Esports of the Year at the Esports Awards for the second time. It’s no surprise then that at this year’s PMGC, PUBG MOBILE recorded its highest peak viewership in five years, with more than 1.3 million concurrent viewers watching the Grand Finals across the globe. This peak was reached between matches 16-18, in the last few pivotal moments of the competition which saw Alpha 7, ULF Esports, and Alpha Gaming battle it out for the title which was well within reach of all three teams.

Things for PUBG MOBILE are only set to get even better, and as the new year approaches, a new season of PUBG MOBILE esports events begins, and as was announced by James Yang, Senior Director of Global esports at Level Infinite, the PUBG MOBILE Esports calendar is looking even busier in 2026…

WHAT’S NEXT FOR PUBG MOBILE ESPORTS IN 2026

Building on 2025’s PUBG MOBILE’s esports experience, which featured over one-million players from over 180 countries and regions, Yang unveiled a series of updates regarding the future of PUBG MOBILE Esports, including a refreshed competitive structure and a doubling down on support for grassroots and amateur level esports.

The biggest shake up coming in 2026 is that instead of following the previous Super League structure, there will be two PMGO tournaments spread across two seasons, expanding qualification routes and increasing the number of opportunities for players of all levels to compete at the top. As usual, both these PMGOs will be open to amateur and professional teams, allowing more fans to compete at the top of their game and earn rewards.

The first stage in this format will see more than 30 PUBG MOBILE National Championships taking place across eight regions globally. These will feed into regional qualifiers, determining which teams advance. The 2026 PMGO Season 1 will take place in South East Asia with a share of $500,000 USD on offer, while the second season will be held for the first time in Pakistan with the same prize pool.

The teams who accumulate the most points across the two seasons will earn their spot at the 2026 PMGC, which returns to Turkiye after its previous appearance there back in 2023, set to deliver the biggest PMGC tournament to date, with another hefty $3m prize pool up for grabs.

Before that is the return of the PUBG MOBILE World Cup (PMWC) as part of the Esports World Cup for the third year running. Held in Riyadh, next year’s tournament looks to further the esports mobile game of the year’s global presence and growing audience, and solidify PUBG MOBILE’s position as an esports leader.

Alongside these major changes to the annual format, players can also expect integration across the board that aims to fulfil many of the same goals of making esports more accessible for everyone, everywhere. Firstly, it will be easier than ever for organisers to create their own competitions, as the registration process for third-parties has been streamlined, and for competitors across the globe, the enhancement of the in-game participation system means they’ll be able to join an esports tournament with just a few clicks.

GET INVOLVED

Bangkok closed out the year with another successful PMGC. PUBG United celebrated everything fans love about the game, with activations and pop-ups sustaining buzz surrounding the main event of the Grand Finals. As players and fans gear up for 2026, new opportunities to compete present themselves, will you be taking part?

Audeze’s Maxwell 2 Upgrades Our Favorite High-End Wireless Gaming Headset

6 janvier 2026 à 14:48

The Audeze Maxwell ranks as one of the best gaming headsets on the market, and now its successor has arrived amongst the CES chaos. The Maxwell 2 replaces the first version and comes in at a slightly higher price, but offers a laundry list of upgrades including audio and mic quality, comfort, and bass response.

The major improvement here is the inclusion of Audeze's SLAM technology, which the company says "produces heightened spatial immersion and precision along with punchier bass response." That's achieved through pairing the firm's 90mm planar magnetic drivers with patented magnets and waveguides, "delivering an expansive 10Hz to 50kHz frequency range." The same tech is used in Audeze's S20 and CBRN2 headphones, where it has attracted largely positive reviews, so it could be a nice acoustic upgrade for the Maxwell too.

The Maxwell 2 also sports an AI noise-cancelling microphone with twice the bandwidth of its predecessor, a trend we've seen on a range of gaming headsets released over the last year or so, which is intended to offer clearer communication while gaming.

The Maxwell 2 (and the original Maxwell) also benefits from the release of a new Audeze mobile app, simply called Audeze, which lets you customise various aspects of the headset. This is a key feature for the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Elite and other recent SteelSeries headsets, as it allows you to set custom EQs for console games, so it'll be interesting to see whether the Audeze app is as powerful on this front. The redesigned app is also available on Windows and Mac.

The one noticeable downside to the original Maxwell we noted in our review was its heavy weight, at 490 grams. Unfortunately, this new model is even heavier, at 560 grams. That's pretty substantial, though the original model was well balanced enough to not be too bothersome, even for long gaming sessions. Despite cultivating more mass, the headset does include a redesigned head strap, which hopefully will do the trick, and the Maxwell 2 also retains a hefty battery life figure of 80 hours.

The Maxwell 2 is in stock at various retailers now and costs $329 for the PlayStation version or $349 for the Xbox model. That's up slightly from the original Maxwell, which was $299 for the PlayStation model and $329 for the Xbox version. In the UK, prices are £339 for the base model and £369 for added Xbox support. A pricier version with ANC support is also expected to be released later this spring.
