The iBuypower Y40 Pro GeForce RTX 5080 Gaming PC Drops to $2,110 at Best Buy

5 janvier 2026 à 21:25

You might want to jump on a PC upgrade sooner than later. Prices of prebuilts are expected to go up this year because of the inflated demand for DDR5 RAM and production cuts on Nvidia's graphics cards.

For this week only, Best Buy just dropped the price on the powerful iBuypower Y40 Pro gaming PC, equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X processor and RTX 5080 graphics card, to just $2,109.99 shipped. Although this system was a bit cheaper during Black Friday, it's currently the lowest price I can find for a prebuilt RTX 5080 gaming PC.

iBuypower Y40 Pro RTX 5080 Gaming PC for $2,110

The iBuypower Y40 Pro is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X processor, GeForce RTX 5080 16GB graphics card, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 2TB PCIe Gen 4 M.2 SSD. The AMD Ryzen 9 7900X CPU has a max turbo frequency of 5.6GHz with 12 cores, 24 threads, and a 64MB L2 cache. In terms of gaming performance, this CPU is comparable to the Intel Core i7-14700K according to Passmark benchmarks. With a high clock speed and a decent number of cores, this is a great CPU for both gaming and productivity and is a good complement to the RTX 5080 GPU.

The GeForce RTX 5080 GPU will run any game in 4K

Performance-wise, the RTX 5080 is no slouch. It's one of the fastest cards on the market, bested only by the $2,000 RTX 5090 and the discontinued $1,600 RTX 4090. This is a phenomenal card for playing the latest, most demanding games in 4K resolution at high settings and ray tracing enabled. The RTX 5080 supports DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation, which means you can push even more frames out of games that support the technology with minimal visual compromise. Recent games that support it include Doom: The Dark Ages, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Borderlands 4, Stellar Blade, and Battlefield 6. Check out our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review for our hands-on impressions.

Walt Disney World has revealed a wonderful new look at what to expect from the Most Magical Place on Earth in 2026, and it includes exciting updates to Frozen Ever After, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Soarin', and more, The Magic of Disney Animation, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, the return of Cool Kids' Summer, and a ton of other experiences to look out for.

There is a lot planned for Walt Disney World in the coming months, so we thought, with the help of Disney Parks Blog, that we'd create a Walt Disney World 2026 Guide that will help you plan your trip or learn what's new and in the works. And yes, we will be updating this guide throughout the year as new details are revealed!

Be sure to let us know what you are most looking forward to and to check out our Disneyland in 2026 Guide!

Early 2026

Frozen Ever After Upgraded With Updated Audio-Animatronics of Anna, Elsa, and More

In February, Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff's Audio-Animatronics are getting a major upgrade at EPCOT's Frozen Ever After. The Imagineers have taken inspiration from the figures currently at World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland to create a "more true-to-film look" that will no longer use projection mapping on their faces.

2026 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts

The 2026 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts will return from January 16 through February 23, bringing with it "artisanal dishes, beautiful artwork, and sing-your-heart-out Broadway showtunes" from Disney on Broadway shows and stars." There will also be Figment's Brush with the Masters Scavenger Hunt, a Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game Collection Quest, and much more.

Disney After Hours

Disney After Hours events are set to light up the night once more in 2026, giving guests a chance to experience Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT with lower wait times, awesome character meet-and-greets, free snacks, and much more.

These are separately tickets events and usually run from 9:30pm or 10pm to 12:30am or 1am. However, guests can enter as early as 7pm, allowing them to enjoy the parks before the official event kicks off.

Spring 2026

EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival

Guests visiting EPCOT from March 4 through June 1 will be able to enjoy the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, which will let them "stroll past whimsical topiaries and lush gardens, savor mouthwatering bites at Outdoor Kitchens, and jam to live tunes during the Garden Rocks Concert Series."

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Is Re-Opening With 'New Magic'

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will welcome guests back with some "new magic" in spring for the first time since January 2025, including a new area that will be an underground section with natural caverns full of phosphorescent pools, stalagmites, stalactites, and the colors of the rainbow all around you. Don't get too comfy, however, as a crack of thunder will turn things much more dangerous and bask the cave in an "eerie red" glow.

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin Returns With Improved Ride Vehicles, Blasters, and a New Robot Named Buddy

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin closed on August 4 of 2025 and will reopen in 2026 with some big changes. There will be a new ride vehicle inspired by Buzz, and the blasters will now be able to come off the vehicle for an even more enjoyable experience. The targets are also being improved and will flash the color of the blaster that shot them (red or green!), and scores will be displayed on a new digital screen. Oh, and did we mention you'll be able to earn one million points? Because you will!

Lastly, Imagineering and Pixar have created a new charming robot named Buddy that will welcome guests into the attraction, give them tips, and even help them to play the game the best way.

Summer 2026

Cool Kids' Summer Is BACK

We loved Cool Kids' Summer when it first debuted in 2025, and it's officially returning in 2026 from May 26 through September 8. Cool Kids' Summer is an initiative by Walt Disney World to encourage guests to visit during the warmest months of the year with great deals, lots of fantastic experiences inside and away from the heat, and so much more. To get an idea of what to expect, keep reading on below!

Summer Deals Include 'Some of the Best Ticket Prices of the Year'

Some of the biggest deals of the year at Walt Disney World happen during the summer, and you can begin booking them on January 6. One of the deals allows guests to add two free room nights and theme park days when they purchase a select 4-night, 4-day (or longer) Walt Disney Travel Company room and ticket package. This specific deal is good for most nights between May 26 and September 15, but it has to be booked between January 6 and February 15.

Guests can also save up to 30% on select Disney Resort hotels from May 1 through October 4, and Florida Residents (35%) and Annual Passholders (40%) can also take advantage of great offers at Disney Resort hotels.

These deals, especially when combined with the offer to get a free dining plan for kids ages 3 to 9 when you purchase a package that includes a dining plan for guests age 10 and up and a room at a Disney Resort hotel, make this time one of the most affordable times to visit Walt Disney World.

Early Theme Park Entry, Character Appearances, and More at Disney Resorts Collection Hotels

Those who choose to stay at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel will be able to enter the parks 30 minutes before everyone else, but the fun doesn't stop there. For summertime only, guests of Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside will have scheduled visits from fan-favorite Disney pals.

Disney Water Park Admission Summer Vacation Deals

One of the more exciting offers during the summer is that guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel between May 26 and September 7 can enjoy free admission to one of the Walt Disney World water parks (Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach) on their check-in day! It's also exciting to note that both the water parks will be open, so you can choose where you want to go!

Disney H20 Glow After Hours at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

Speaking of Typhoon Lagoon, Disney H20 Glow After Hours at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon will be back this summer as a separately tickets event that lets guests "splash the night away with a DJ dance party, meet up with fun Disney pals, enjoy your favorite watery attractions, and indulge in complimentary ice cream novelties, popcorn, and select beverages – all after the sun goes down and the water park closes."

Bluey and Bingo Finally Arrive at Walt Disney World at Animal Kingdom's Conservation Station

Bluey will finally have a presence at Walt Disney World as guests will be able to play and dance with Bluey and Bingo over at Animal Kingdom's Conservation Station. There will be special games directly from Bluey episodes (Keepy Uppy?!), the chance to grab a photo with the pair, and also discover animals native to Bluey's home country of Australia.

Party With Your Toy Story Pals at Magic Kingdom's Diamond Horseshoe

At Magic Kingdom's Diamond Horseshoe, Jessie, Woody, and other Toy Story friends will be hanging out at Jessie's Roundup, where guests can "craft, dance, and yodel [their] hearts out in this western revue."

Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!

Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! is a new stage production headed to Hollywood Studios that will let guests sing and dance with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. Mickey and Minnie have invited Goofy, Daisy, and Pluto, but they haven't arrived yet, and we'll all need to find them to get the fun started!

The Magic of Disney Animation and Off the Page!

Hollywood Studios' The Magic of Disney Animation and Off the Page! are going to be two of the biggest additions to Walt Disney World this year (and the one I'm most excited for!), and they will be experiences inspired by Disney Animation's headquarters.

The Magic of Disney Animation will be a place where 'kids and kids at heart can laugh, draw, dream, and explore animated new experiences." This will include "silly" takes on Disney Animation's headquarters and its departments, "playful and interactive moments" like portraits coming to life as they did in "Once Upon a Studio," a short film filled with inspiration, a chance to draw "your very own character sketch," character meet-and-greets, and more.

Furthermore, the 'Drawn to Wonderland' playground will welcome kids into an "oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset, and a Tulgey Wood exploration area. To make it even more special, these areas are all inspired by Alice in Wonderland and its concept art by Disney Legend Mary Blair.

There will also be an area called 'Off the Page!,' which is a collaboration between Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering, and it will be a place to meet beloved Disney characters across six departments from the animation studio, including Story, Layout, Hand-Drawn Animation, Computer Animation, Lighting, and Effects.

Each space will offer photo opportunities, and one example given was Mulan in the story department. What's more is she will be posing in front of an oversized storyboard panel. Rapunzel, on the other hand, will be in the Layout department in a setting inspired by the multiplane camera. So, not only will guests be able to have incredible Disney moments with characters, but also learn and be inspired about animation and how our favorite stories are brought to life.

Oh, and we have to mention this area used to be the home of Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida, which was responsible for such films as Mulan, Lilo & Stitch, and Brother Bear.

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Will Debut in Summer 2026

Hollywood Studios' Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is set to close on March 1 and make way for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. In this new ride, J.P. Grosse purchases G-Force Records and asks his nephew, Scooter, to run the place. This will bring Electric Mayhem to the forefront as they will replace Aerosmith as the headliner of this attraction.

The courtyard will also undergo a transformation, as the massive red guitar will now have a "psychedelic wrap" and the piano motif at the bottom will feature a gold key in honor of Dr. Teeth. Speaking of Scooter, he will become an Audio-Animatronic alongside some penguin audio engineers!

The Mandalorian and Grogu Join Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to being Star Wars back to the movies for the first time since 2019 on May 22, but that's not all out favorite pair from that galaxy far, far away will be up to on that day.

There will be a new mission in Hollywood Studios' Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (and at Disneyland!) where Hondo Ohnaka "catches wind of a deal on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and pirates, setting the stage for a high-stakes chase across the galaxy. Guests will team up with Mando and Grogu to track them down and claim a bounty in a dynamic, galaxy-spanning adventure."

This new choose-your-own-adventure-style will let Engineers take care of Grogu, and it may take guests to Coruscant, Tatooine, Bespin, and/or Endor. To learn more, we had the chance to speak with Walt Disney Imagineering's Asa Kalama, and he shared a bit more about what we can expect.

"Throughout the mission, we're going to be giving the engineers the opportunity to actually get to communicate with Grogu," Kalama said. "So, we think it's going to be a ton of fun. There may be times when Mando has to deboard the Razor Crest and Grogu, left to his own devices, might get a little happy on the control panel. So, we love the idea of there being these fun little vignettes and moments where you're sort of on the comm with Grogu."

As for the choose-your-own-adventure side of it, Kalama tells us there will be "sort of a critical moment in your adventure where you are strapped for time and have to make a lightning quick decision about which of our particular bounties we want to pursue. And that's going to be the sort of inciting incident that allows us to decide which are the different destinations we go to."

Soarin' Across America and a Celebration of the United States' 250th Anniversary

In celebration of the United States' 250th anniversary, EPCOT and Disneyland's Soarin' will transform into Soarin' Across America. This new "bi-coastal offering will showcase the United States - from sea to shining sea - highlighting some of the country's natural beauty and iconic cityscapes."

This exciting update was introduced in a video that once again sees Patrick Warburton acting as our chief flight attendant, and we also learned more from the team at the time.

“Our goal was to offer guests a sampling of the diversity of America’s beauty and urban wonders with the hope it would paint an emotional portrait for the nation’s Semi-quincentennial celebration,” Tom Fitzgerald, Portfolio Executive Creative Director and Chief Storytelling Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering, said.

“Contrasting shots of different American locales — scenic wonders, amazing cities, and the beauty of the coasts. The use of the physical landscape of the United States as a unifying element,” Bernice Howes, Executive Creative Media Producer for Walt Disney Imagineering, added. “Then, using continuous camera movement to smoothly transition between these scenes, linking them together to show the geographical ‘whole’ of the nation, from natural locations to large cities to national monuments that represent America the beautiful.”

Soarin' Across America is part of a new initiative called "Disney Celebrates America," which runs through July 4 and will be filled with celebrations, shows, deals and offers for U.S. Military service members, veterans, and their families, and much more.

Banana Ball Arrives at ESPN Wide World of Sports For the First Time

Banana Ball is headed to ESPN Wide World of Sports for the first time on May 29 and 30, and "whether you’re team Loco Beach Coconuts or team Party Animals, the trick plays, diving catches, and on-the-field shenanigans are sure to deliver a home run of fun."

Fall 2026

EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival

The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will return this fall and, while dates and details will be released at a later date, Disney encourages guests to "Come Eat to the Beat (IYKYK) and explore all that EPCOT has to offer while soaking in the fall vibes … and munching on some delicious bites."

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

The 'gourd times" will roll this fall when Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party once again takes residence at Magic Kingdom.

"Get ready to boo-gie with fan-favorite eerie entertainment, enjoy spellbinding sips and bites, and well-loved mysterious character greetings to celebrate the spooky season with this separately ticketed event on select nights," Disney wrote.

Winter 2026

Disney Jollywood Nights

While no dates have been announced, Disney is wants guests to "get ready to celebrate the season in style with themed entertainment, festive food and beverage offerings, character greetings galore, and of course, all things glitz and glamour at Disney Jollywood Nights."

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party will end the year in a festive style, and will once again be "packed with seasonal entertainment, delicious food, and cozy merchandise that will make you fall in love with the holiday season all over again."

EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays

Lastly, the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays will be in full swing at the end of the year with Holiday Storytellers, delicious comfort foods at Holiday Kitchens, the Candlelight Processional, and much more.

The Fun Is Just Beginning at Walt Disney World

This is only the tip of the iceberg of things planned for Walt Disney World, and we will continue to update this guide as more details are revealed. We don't know everything going on behind the curtain, but we do know some of the exciting projects in the works, including a Villains Land, the Cars-themed land called Piston Peak National Park, the Monsters-Inc.-themed land, the Tropical Americas land with Encanto and Indiana Jones attractions, the update to Carousel of Progress that will add a Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic, and so much more.

Disneyland in 2026: Updated Attractions, Event Dates and Details, Ticket and Hotel Deals, and More

5 janvier 2026 à 20:38

Disneyland has revealed an exciting look at what it has planned for 2026, including the ongoing celebration of the resort's 70th anniversary, new experiences for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Soarin', the long-awaited arrival of Bluey, and some great events and festivals to plan ahead for.

With the help of Disney Parks Blog, this Disneyland in 2026 Guide will be a place to see all the fun headed to Disneyland this year. It's still early, so we will be updating this as more details are revealed, but this should give you a good idea of what to expect at the Happiest Place on Earth!

Oh, and be sure to let us know what you are most excited for and to also check out our Walt Disney World in 2026 Guide!

Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration

Disneyland will continue celebrating its 70th anniversary through August 9, meaning there's still time to experience all the fun Disney planned for this big milestone.

You can read all about the best reasons to visit Disneyland during this celebration right here, but I do have to shoutout Wondrous Journeys (my favorite Nighttime Spectacular!), World of Color Happiness!, Tapestry of Happiness, The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade, and Paint the Night as shows and experiences you won't want to miss.

Bluey Debuts at Disneyland on March 22

Bluey will make her big debut at Disneyland on March 22 with 'Bluey's Best Day Ever!' at the Fantasyland Theatre. This immersive celebration will turn the theatre into the grounds of Bluey's school, and Bluey and Bingo will appear live on stage to help keep the party going.

There will be live musical show moments, games like Keepy Uppy, a life-sized Gnome Village and Fairy Garden, and the chance to step into the fair at Bluey's school with the Grannies, Chattermax, Unicorse, and enjoy select themed "fave foods" at Troubadour Tavern.

The Iniu power bank has three output ports: two 45W USB Type-C ports and one USB Type-A port. The built-in lanyard doubles as a 5" USB Type-C cable. The 45W of Power Delivery is enough to charge the Nintendo Switch (18W) and Steam Deck (40W) at their fastest rate. This power bank is also a good match with the Apple iPhone 17, since ChargerLAB has shown that the charging rate caps at about 30W for the iPhone 17 and 37W for the iPhone 17 Pro.

The Best Streaming Services for Watching Live NBA Games in 2026

5 janvier 2026 à 20:35

After cutting cable, one of the first things you'll likely be searching for is a way to watch live sports. For NBA fans, there are plenty of options to catch games without a traditional cable plan, though you may need to get creative. NBA streaming rights are always changing hands, but currently, there are three main channels you'll need to access: ABC, ESPN, and NBC. However, starting last year and through the 2035-36 season, the landscape will change once again, as NBC and Prime Video will exclusively air select games.

In the meantime, we've rounded up the best streaming services for you below to ensure you don't miss a single NBA game this season and the next.

DirecTV Stream

Best overall for NBA games

As of right now, DirecTV Stream is the most comprehensive option for NBA fans who want to cut the cord. While each of their signature packages features the trio of channels needed to watch all major NBA games (ABC, ESPN, and NBC), the best value is the DirecTV Choice package as it also includes access to NBA TV. With this package, you'll have access to over 125 channels including every major nationwide game and a great selection of regional sporting events based on your location.

If you're a diehard sports fan, DirecTV now offers standalone Genre Packs, including the MySports pack, which is priced at $69.99 per month—cheaper than each of the standard bundles. This pack includes over 20 sports-focused channels, such as ESPN, TNT, FS1, NBA TV, and NFL Network, plus an ESPN Unlimited subscription for even more sports content.

ESPN Unlimited

Best for ESPN and ABC Games

Earlier this year, ESPN launched a new service called ESPN Unlimited. The main difference between this service and its predecessor, ESPN+, is that it actually grants you access to all of the ESPN channels without the need for a live TV service. Since it is owned by Disney, that means you'll also get access to any of the games that play on ABC as well. That means you'll get access to all of the games except the ones on NBC.

You can currently get a standalone subscription to ESPN Unlimited for $29.99 or bundle it with Disney+ and Hulu for the same price (for a limited time). With the most recent Disney+ price hike now in effect, this is the only bundle that didn't get a price increase for 2025. You can also choose to add NFL+ premium to that bundle, making this one of the best new services for NFL games as well.

Hulu + Live TV

Best Streaming Bundle With NBA Games

Hulu + Live TV is a great option for sports fans who also want to indulge in great TV series and movies as it features over 95 channels plus the Disney Bundle as part of its monthly subscription price. It checks all the boxes for NBA fans with ABC and ESPN included (they are Disney-owned, of course), plus the remaining games on NBC.

In addition to having access to everything in the Disney+ and Hulu libraries, Hulu + Live TV also grants you access to ESPN Unlimited which unlocks additional exclusive sporting events (like UFC and college sports), original programming, and more. There is also a three-day free trial of Hulu + Live TV available for new subscribers if you want to test out the service at no cost.

Sling TV

Best Value

If being able to catch every major NBA game for the lowest possible price is your only priority, then Sling TV is your answer. Sling TV's Orange plan will get you access to most nationally televised NBA games as it features ESPN and TNT as part of its 35-channel lineup. However, the primary reason Sling TV is a less expensive option is that it excludes local channels, such as ABC. Instead, Sling recommends you pair your subscription with a TV antenna (sold separately) to receive your local channels.

If you'd rather not worry about an external antenna, Sling TV's Blue plan does include local channels like ABC, NBC, and FOX in select markets. You'll need to enter your zip code on Sling's website to verify which (if any) local channels are available to you with this plan. If you do happen get ABC in your area, you can bundle Sling TV's Orange and Blue plans together for $60.99 per month to enjoy every NBA game. There's also the company's free service, Sling Freestream, which lets you watch some older games at no cost.

NBA League Pass

Best For Out of Market Games

NBA League Pass is a fantastic option for NBA fans...of out of market teams. The NBA's flagship service features live coverage of every game (excluding nationally broadcast and your local market games) through the NBA app or NBA.com. Nationally broadcast games (like those on ABC, ESPN, or TNT) are available to stream on-demand three hours after they air, while locally televised games are available three days later.

Additionally, NBA League Pass features condensed recaps of every game, access to NBA TV's 24/7 live stream, full game archives dating back to the 2012-13 NBA season, and much more. NBA League Pass is available as a monthly subscription or you can choose to prepay for the entire season.

NBA Streaming FAQs

Can You Watch Live NBA Games For Free?

Sort of. If you have a TV antenna installed, you can watch games airing on ABC over the air. All other NBA games require either a cable subscription or a mix of select streaming services.

Which NBA Streaming Services Have Free Trials?

Currently, you can score a five-day free trial of DirecTV Stream and a three-day free trial of Hulu + Live TV if you want to catch some upcoming NBA games. As of this writing, Sling TV and ESPN Unlimited don't offer free trials, but both have limited time offers to save on monthly subscriptions. NBA League Pass doesn't have a direct free trial, but if you add it through an existing Prime Video subscription, you'll get seven days free.

If you're looking to stream more than just sports, check out our list of the Best Streaming Services With Free Trials in 2026.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, 5070, and 5060 Ti Graphics Cards Are Still at MSRP, But for How Long?

5 janvier 2026 à 20:00

The short-term outlook doesn't bode well with regards to GPU pricing. PCMag and other outlets have reported that Nvidia may cut back production on its consumer graphics cards by up to 30%-40% due to the demand of DRAM and Nvidia's shift in focus to supplying AI data centers. As a result of the dwindling supply, GPU prices are expected to rise in 2026.

Fortunately if you're thinking of upgrading your PC right now, it's not too late to get a current generation GeForce graphics card at retail pricing. Select variants of the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5070, and RTX 5060 Ti 16GB graphics cards are currently available at Walmart and Amazon without any markup, but who knows for how long.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Graphics Card for $749

The RTX 5070 Ti GPU Is Our Best Reviewed Nvidia Blackwell GPU

It excels at 4K gaming performance at a reasonable price point

Of all the Blackwell cards released thus far, the RTX 5070 Ti offers the best value for high-fps 4K gaming. It performs neck-and-neck with the RTX 4080 Super but with the added bonus of newer GDDR7 VRAM and DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation. If you plan on using this card for AI, the RTX 5070 Ti is a better value than the RTX 5080 since both have same amount of RAM (16GB). Compared to AMD, the RTX 5070 Ti is roughly comparable in raw performance to the AMD RX 9070 XT, but the 5070 Ti has considerably better upscaling technology and ray tracing performance.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Graphics Card for $549

The RTX 5070 performs on par with the previous generation RTX 4070 Super - which was already an excellent card for 1080p and 1440p gaming - but with DLSS4 and multi-frame generation. It's equipped with 12GB of GDDR7 VRAM which allows it to keep up with high-fps gaming at 1440p. You'll even be able to play less demanding games at 4K as well, although you'll see a significant performance uplift upgrading to the 5070 Ti at that point.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB Graphics Card for $449.99

There are two RTX 5060 Ti variants floating around with the only difference being the amount of VRAM, either 8GB or 16GB. If you can afford it, you should only get the 16GB model. Numerous outlets have shown that the performance gap between the 8GB and 16GB models is huge. The model I've linked to above is a 16GB model, which is an excellent option for 1080p gaming. It outperforms the RTX 4060 Ti by about 20% and the RTX 3060 Ti by 40% and that's without DLSS4.

Former ZeniMax Online Founder Confirms He Resigned Because Xbox Killed Project Blackbird

5 janvier 2026 à 19:56

Matt Firor, the former studio head and founder of ZeniMax Online Studios, has confirmed his resignation from the company as a direct result of the cancelation of the studio's unannounced game, Project Blackbird.

In a LinkedIn post today, Firor reflected on the last year and confirmed his departure back in July, which had already been rumored after he stepped down from his leadership role last year. "Project Blackbird was the game I had waited my entire career to create, and having it canceled led to my resignation. My heart and thoughts are always with the impacted team members, many of whom I had worked 20+ years with, and all of whom were the most dedicated, amazingly talented group of developers in the industry."

Firor also made clear he is not involved in any of the projects that have been started by former ZeniMax Online members who were laid off from the company around this time. He added that he is advising some of them "informally" and confirmed they were "in good hands."

He concluded by stating that while he doesn't know what he'll do next, he's currently both advising some projects and startups unofficially, as well as investing in some small teams. "But I have not yet seriously contemplated spinning up a new development studio."

Project Blackbird was an unannounced MMORPG that was in development at ZeniMax Online Studios, but was canceled by Xbox in the summer of 2025 as a part of the layoff of hundreds of individuals at Xbox Game Studios, and thousands Microsoft-wide. Blackbird would have been a brand new, sci-fi IP that had been in development since 2018. In July, sources speaking to IGN told us that the project was going well and was about to move into full production with Xbox's approval to scale up the team. Blackbird's cancelation led to the layoffs of every member of the team.

Firor founded ZeniMax Online Studios under ZeniMax Media in 2007 after 10 years at Mythic Entertainment, where he was a founding employee. There, he oversaw the creation of The Elder Scrolls Online, which launched in 2014 and continues to be supported, with the most recent major expansion Gold Road releasing in January 2024. Firor was also in charge when parent company ZeniMax Media was acquired by Microsoft in 2021.

Following the cancelation of Blackbird, ZeniMax Online Studios remains in operation, continuing work on The Elder Scrolls Online under the leadership of Joseph Burba, a 13-year veteran of the studio.

Jack Black Reveals Why He Turned Down the Role of Syndrome in The Incredibles — and Why It's One of His Biggest Regrets

5 janvier 2026 à 19:08

Jack Black has revealed his regret at turning down the role of Syndrome in The Incredibles, admitting he shouldn’t have been so difficult and just accepted the part.

Speaking on Capital Breakfast's Christmas day show to promote his new movie, Anaconda, Black said he thought Syndrome was a one dimensional character and asked for a rewrite, which writer and director Brad Bird declined.

“I was offered — and I do regret it, saying no — I was offered Syndrome in that fantastic movie, The Incredibles,” Black revealed. “One of my favorites of all time by the way. And I said no, because I was like, ‘Er, Brad Bird, never heard of him. This character that you’re offering me is a villain but he’s kind of one dimensional. I’m interested but I’d like to see a rewrite. Will you add some dimensions to this character?’ And he was like, ‘You’re done. Get out of here.’"

The Jumanji, School of Rock, and Kung Fu Panda star continued: “And I learnt a valuable lesson. Because then the movie came out and it was one of the best movies ever made. I was like, ‘Why was I being so difficult?’”

The role of Syndrome, Mr. Incredible's obsessed fan turned supervillain, went to Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl, Mallrats). Pixar’s The Incredibles came out in 2004 and enjoyed critical and commercial acclaim, making over $630 million at the global box office. The Incredibles did so well it spawned a sequel, with The Incredibles 3 confirmed to be in the works. Anaconda, meanwhile, is now up to $88.4 million at the global box office.

The Best Streaming Services for Watching NFL Games Live in 2025

5 janvier 2026 à 19:05

The regular NFL season may be over, but now we're headed into playoffs territory. If you're hoping to stream games online this year, it is once again unnecessarily confusing. There is no single place where you can watch every NFL game live, and it gets even more confusing when you start factoring in some streaming exclusives coming later this year.

If you're looking for the best way to watch as many NFL games as you can this season, you're likely going to need to be subscribed to multiple streaming services. I don't think anyone's happy about that, so the best alternative is doing some solid math on what you're most interested in watching.

TL;DR – These Are the Best Streaming Services for NFL Games

For those who are only looking to watch the occasional game, most of the popular sports streaming services should do the trick. You can also get some games through other streaming services depending on the day. I'd recommend checking out the NFL website for an up-to-date schedule of games to find out where you can stream each one.

Fubo

Best Option for Most People

If you're looking for a live TV streaming service with a focus on sports, Fubo is likely your best option. It will give you online access to all of the normal local channels and also includes access to the new ESPN Unlimited service. Both of the available subscription plans include Unlimited DVR, but if you want access to RedZone you'll need to go with the Elite with Sports Plus package.

Fubo comes in two different tiers, Pro and Elite with Sports Plus. The Pro plan will get you access to most of what you need to watch NFL games as well as 241 total channels for $84.99 per month. Upgrading to the next tier will get you access to more channels, RedZone, and 4K streaming for $104.99. There's also a free trial available for Fubo that will let you test out the service for seven days before you have to pay.

Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Unlimited, NFL+ Premium Bundle

Best All-Around Streaming Bundle with NFL Games

If you're not interested in adding a live TV service to your monthly bill, Disney+ recently launched a new bundle offer that can help you save quite a bit. This was announced alongside the new ESPN Unlimited service last month and includes access to Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions as well. As of September 3, you can also choose to bundle NFL+ Premium in as an add-on, making it the best new streaming option for watching NFL games.

The base bundle is currently priced at $29.99 for the first 12 months of your subscription, and you can choose to add on NFL+ Premium for an additional $10. This will get you access to most regular season NFL games as well as RedZone for $39.99 per month. The biggest downside is that NFL+ Premium will only let you stream games via your phone or tablet.

Prime Video

Best for Thursday Night Football (and Free Shipping)

Prime Video is maybe not the most ideal one-stop shop if you're looking for a comprehensive NFL streaming service, but it does get you access to most Thursday Night Football games (and already comes included with any Amazon Prime subscription). The exception to this was the very first game of the season and Thanksgiving. You can see the full schedule of upcoming NFL games you can watch with Prime directly from the Prime Video website. It's also worth noting that Prime Video will be streaming the Black Friday Football game this year in tandem with the Amazon Black Friday sale.

An Amazon Prime membership costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year. Thursday Night Football games will be streamed live online via the Prime Video app or directly from Amazon's website. The main reason to get an Amazon Prime subscription is still the free shipping on stuff you buy from Amazon, but watching the occasional NFL game is a bonus. Amazon Prime currently has one of the best free trials in all of streaming that lets you access the service for 30 days before paying anything.

Paramount+

Best Streaming Option for CBS Broadcasts

Similar to Amazon Prime, Paramount+ is really just a streaming service that also happens to have some NFL games. The only games you'll be able to stream are the ones that are also being broadcast on CBS, which you could also watch on live TV if you wished to avoid paying for this service. The Paramount+ website has a full schedule of what games will be available for the first week and beyond that I'd recommend checking out.

The main draw of Paramount+ outside of NFL games is the original content that is only available there. This streaming service is the home of the Sonic the Hedgehog movies and also where you can currently stream new South Park episodes. There are two tiers of Paramount+ available, with the cheapest starting at $7.99 with ads. There's also a fall promo going on that takes 50% off the price when you subscribe annually.

NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube TV

Best for Out-of-Market Games

If you're specifically looking for a single service that has every single NFL game, YouTube TV with NFL Sunday Ticket is probably your best bet. The YouTube TV part of this bundle will include any in-market local and national NFL games streamed live, while NFL Sunday Ticket will get you all of the out-of-market Sunday games as well. The add-on is the only way to get access to those non-local games and YouTube is the only place that currently offers it.

The main downside of this option is that you'll need to add on other services to watch additional NFL games. Access to ESPN is required for Monday Night Football games and Prime Video is required for Thursday Night Football games. You can add these on for an additional cost, but it will start to get expensive compared to some other options on this list. Disney is also currently in a contract dispute with YouTube TV so there's actually no way to included ESPN currently. YouTube TV is offering new users an NFL Sunday Ticket bundle for only $83.40 per month for the first two months before that price goes up.

NFL Streaming FAQs

Can you watch NFL games without a streaming subscription?

You don't need a streaming or cable subscription to watch some NFL games, but you will need one to watch all of them. There will be games available on live TV every week on ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC that you can access with a TV antenna for free. In addition to these games, Twitch will stream Thursday Night Football games for free. The games you won't be able to access for free are anything playing on ESPN or out-of-market Sunday games.

What's the cheapest way to watch every regular season NFL game?

Because of how NFL streaming rights are set up, there is no cheap way to watch all of the games in 2026. To watch every game for the lowest possible price you'll need access to ESPN Unlimited, NFL+, Netflix, Peacock, and Amazon Prime. This is due to both Netflix and Peacock having exclusive rights to some games later in the season. For a full breakdown of what you'll need to subscribe to and when, I'd suggest taking a look at this comprehensive Reddit thread breaking it down.

Where will Super Bowl 2026 be available to stream?

Super Bowl LX will be available to watch live on NBC on February 8, 2026. This means if you’re hoping to stream the game online you’ll need to do it through Peacock, which is owned by NBC.

It's Taken 15 Years, But Someone's Finally Completed Super Meat Boy Without Dying Once

5 janvier 2026 à 18:28

Super Meat Boy, the hard-as-nails platforming classic where dying dozens of times per level comes as standard, has now been played from start to finish in a perfect run.

It's been 15 years since Super Meat Boy originally released for Xbox 360, and it has taken all of those 15 years for someone to pull off this frankly astonishing feat.

Step up shredberg, a Nintendo speedrunner with a particular soft spot for Super Meat Boy, who livestreamed his deathless completion of the game just before the end of 2025. The achievement quickly drew congratulations from Edmund McMillen, the game's co-creator, who dubbed shredberg as "awesome" for being the one who finally managed it.

For anyone who's played and struggled with Super Meat Boy over the years, particularly its later levels which simply look impossible when you first see them, it's hard to not watch the full video of shredberg's run and be impressed at the calm way he leaps, slops and slides around each level just pixels away from sawblades, meat grinders and explosions.

"Let's go," shredberg said calmly, upon completing Super Meat Boy's final level after more than 2000 attempts and over 1000 hours of gameplay. "Let's go dude! I cannot believe it, I've been doing this too long. I got to go to work tomorrow.

"I'll be honest, I'm not going to say I wasn't nervous, because I was very nervous at the end there... but I was way more nervous just in Dark Cotton," he continued, referencing an earlier level. "Once I got past Dark Hell 2, I was relatively fine. I got super nervous whenever I had any minor slip-up."

"I'm going to be emailing everyone," shredberg added. "Kotaku, IGN, CNN, Chef's Illustrated, they're all going to hear about it. I will unironically email IGN."

Over the years, Super Meat Boy has launched on every major console from Nintendo Switch to PlayStation Vita, though no one else has managed this feat — something many players thought was impossible. A sequel to the game, Super Meat Boy Forever, launched in 2020. Next up for the series is Super Meat Boy 3D, due for launch early this year.

And for shredberg? The second he completed his run, one viewer had a suggestion for what he should play next. "I have to play Silksong now?" shredberg said, reading the inevitable comment. "Yeah... I'm so glad it's over. Not even in a 'this wasn't even fun' kinda way, because it was. But, man."

The Critics Choice Awards Winners 2026: The Full List

5 janvier 2026 à 18:20

Critics’ biggest night has finally arrived — and they told us exactly how they felt about the biggest and best films and TV shows of 2025 at the 31st annual Critics Choice Awards. Critical engagement with art is such a necessary quest, as it tends to bring something to the public consciousness that expands both viewers perspective on the work and how the work itself functions in our cultural landscape, so their yearly picks truly say something about the state of visual art in the now.

Needless to say, we’ve had some seriously good projects come our way in the last year, including the Ryan Coogler period horror breakout Sinners. As you might’ve expected, the film — which stars Michael B. Jordan, Miles Catton, Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O'Connell, and Wunmi Mosaku — ended up winning the most awards for a film this year. Interestingly enough, though, it actually tied with Guillermo del Toro’s Netflix adaptation of Frankenstein for that title.

Both films went home with four awards, and as far as acting goes, both films took home big prizes. Jacob Elordi snagged the Best Supporting Actor award for his portrayal of Frankenstein’s monsters, while Catton took home the Best Young Actor/Actress award for his excellent breakout as preacher boy Sammie. Coogler was also recognized for his writing, being awarded for Best Original Screenplay, while his casting director, Francine Maisler, was recognized for Best Casting and Ensemble.

As for the other big hits of the year, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another also got its fair share of praise, going home with three awards including both Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay for Anderson. The film was also recognized in the Best Picture category, which had some steep competition in it.

There were also a couple of one-off wins that truly felt sweet. Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme was only recognized once, but it was a big one. Star Timothee Chalamet took home the award for Best Actor for his work in the title role, which could be a precursor for the upcoming Academy Awards, but who can say just yet. But perhaps the best and most satisfying one-off win went to Amy Madigan for her haunting portrayal of Aunt Gladys in Weapons, which took the world by storm when the film was released over the summer.

On the TV side, it should come as no surprise that Netflix’s tragic miniseries Adolescence was the big winner with four awards, including Best Limited Series. It also snagged three acting awards for Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper, and Erin Doherty, all of whom won the same awards for their work at the 77th Primetime Emmys.

Beloved medical drama The Pitt and breakout comedy The Studio both tied for second place on wins, each going home with three awards a piece. The Pitt won Best Drama Series and two acting awards for Noah Wiley and Katherine LaNasa, all of which the series won at the Emmys as well. The Studio took home Best Comedy Series, with Seth Rogen and Ike Barinholtz winning Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively. Rogen and the show also won at the Emmys, but Barinholtz’s win was a first (and only his second nomination for the series).

You can check out the full list of winners from the 31st annual Critics Choice Awards below.

The Samsung S90 4K QD-OLED TV Is on Sale Just in Time for the NFL Playoff Season

5 janvier 2026 à 18:20

Week 18 of the NFL regular season ended after that Ravens/Steelers banger and the playoffs kick off this coming weekend. Instead of paying for expensive tickets and fighting the crowds, why not put that money into a big, gorgeous TV set so you can watch from the comfort of your home. If you've missed out on all of the (now expired) OLED TV deals during Black Friday, here's a new deal that just popped up and runs for this week only.

Woot, which is owned by Amazon, is offering a 65" Samsung S90D 4K OLED Smart TV for just $1,079.99 or a 77" model for $1,497.99. Both TVs cost only $5 to ship, although Amazon Prime members can get free delivery. These are brand new TVs with a 1 year Samsung warranty. The S90D is one of Samsung's more premium OLED TVs featuring a quantum dot OLED panel for brighter, richer colors. It's comparable to LG's C-series OLED TVs.

Samsung S90D 4K OLED TVs on Sale at Woot!

OLED TVs feature best-in-class image quality thanks to their near-infinite black level, near-infinite contrast ratio, and near-instantaneous response time. For most use cases, there isn't a better TV that you can get for the same price.

The S90D is Samsung's 2024 S90 series TV. This is a higher end model that's equipped with a quantum dot (QD) OLED panel, which is brighter and boasts a wider color gamut than traditional W-OLED panels like Samsung's lower end S85 series. It is a slightly older model than the current generation Samsung S90F that was released in 2025, but that TV currently costs $500 more and image quality is practically identical.

OLED qualities aside, the Samsung S90D also has all the features you'd want in a gaming TV. It has a native 120Hz panel that can be pushed to as high as 144Hz as well as four total HDMI 2.1 ports for running 4K at 120Hz on a PS5 or Xbox Series X gaming console. The S90D also supports variable refresh rate and auto low latency mode

Is this a good TV for the Nintendo Switch 2?

Despite being a current generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2 has lax TV requirements compared to the PS5 or Xbox Series X. When the Switch is connected to its dock and a television, it is only capable of outputting a 4K resolution signal at up to 60 frames per second. It can go up to 120fps if the resolution drops to 1080p, but the data rate required for both these options is pretty much the same. Oddly, it doesn’t even get VRR when docked – that’s reserved for handheld mode only. The Switch 2 console, however, will still benefit greatly from the Samsung's gorgeous OLED panel.

5 Streaming Sites That Let You Watch Anime for Free

5 janvier 2026 à 18:03

Anime just keeps getting bigger. It was reported to be a $19+ billion industry in 2023, so we can only imagine where it's at in 2026. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to watch anime without paying a dime. While you might have to skip out on the occasional Netflix original anime, there's something for everyone in the hundreds of anime series and movies out there for free.

If you watch anime, you probably know that there are plenty of what we'll call "risky" anime sites, most of which ride a legal gray line or head straight into piracy territory. This list is limited to free anime sites we know for sure legally acquired their streaming licenses.

Whether you want to see what the hype's about with Solo Leveling (which recently won Anime of the Year), are planning a Naruto marathon, or want to dive into classics like Sailor Moon, here are the best sites to watch anime for free.

Crunchyroll

As the ultimate anime streaming service, Crunchyroll offers free ad-supported streaming of a selection of its library. What's available with Crunchyroll's free tier changes with seasonal releases, but it's consistently one of the best ways to check out the latest and greatest anime for free. Right now, you can watch the first season of massive hits like Solo Leveling, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and Apothecary Diaries for free. The free streaming tier doesn't always limit you to a first season, either. For example, you won't get cut off from watching every season of My Hero Academia, Spy X Family, or Demon Slayer.

If a particular Premium offering catches your eye, you can also sign up for (then try and remember to cancel) a seven-day free trial of Crunchyroll Premium.

Free Anime on Crunchyroll:

Tubi

Tubi is one of the best free streaming sites, period, and licensing deals with the likes of Crunchyroll, Konami, GKIDS, and Viz Media mean the free platform is stocked with a solid amount of anime. You’ll find plenty of the classics, like Naruto, Pokémon, and Sailor Moon, shoujo favorites like Toradora and Maid-Sama, and comedies like Daily Lives of High School Boys. Tubi also has a surprisingly great selection of anime movies, including films directed by Satoshi Kon and Naoko Yamada. And if you're interested in american cartoons, Tubi recently started streaming Looney Tunes shorts after HBO Max decided to remove them from its platform.

Free Anime on Tubi:

Sling TV Freestream

Sling TV’s new Freestream platform combines a bunch of existing free streaming "channels" into a single platform. One of those streaming libraries is RetroCrush, which itself is a great free anime site focused on old-school classics like Ghost Stories and City Hunter. Freestream also includes “sneak peaks” at programming from Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, including the recent Uzumaki anime and, interestingly enough, the final season of Attack on Titan.

Free Anime on Sling TV Freestream:

Viz Media

Viz Media is a major distributor of anime and manga in North America. While the Viz website does offer free manga chapters (as well as physical volumes), you'll only find physical releases for anime. However, you can find a pretty decent selection of free anime on the Viz Media YouTube channel, including a full spread of InuYasha, Naruto, and Sailor Moon movies.

Free Anime From Viz Media:

Hoopla

This one's a little different, as it does require a bit of an investment. That is, you have to have an eligible library card to sign up. If you do, you're all set to access a range of series through Hoopla, including the Pokémon Binge Pass, which is one of the most fleshed-out collections of the Pokémon anime. Keep in mind that, like a library, you have to "check out" certain series, which you may only have access to for a certain amount of time, typically around one week.

While it may not have the widest selection of anime series, one big benefit of Hoopla is that it also allows you to rent ebooks, manga, and comics. It's one of the best places to read books for free online or anywhere.

Free Anime on Hoopla:

Free Anime Sites FAQ

Are there any free anime sites without ads?

Unfortunately, by virtue of licensing agreements, ads are par for the course for free streaming sites. If you find a streaming site without ads, it's more than likely on the "riskier" side of the internet. No judgment, of course.

Is there free anime on YouTube?

Beyond Viz Media's official channel, there’s a treasure trove of free anime on YouTube. I won’t necessarily point you (or the copyright police) in any specific direction, but I will say it’s worth checking if something you’re interested in is on there.

The Best Streaming Services For Watching Live Sports in 2026

5 janvier 2026 à 17:43

Watching sports used to be simple. You’d just flip on the TV, and chances are, you’d catch the big game. Today, though, navigating the world of sports streaming is a far more complicated affair. From regional blackouts and extra paywalls to figuring out which service holds exclusive rights to the games you want to watch, it’s a maze that leaves fans scrambling now in 2026.

With so many streaming services broadcasting live sports, figuring out where to watch and what's worth subscribing to can be a challenge. Luckily, we've done the heavy lifting for you. Below, you’ll find a list of the best sports streaming services for live games, matches, and fights, tailored for every type of fan.

TL;DR — These are the best streaming services for sports

Hulu + Live TV

Best Streaming Bundle For Sports

Hulu + Live TV features a comprehensive offering of the most popular sports across its more than 95 channels, including NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA, international soccer, UFC, and more. In addition to games airing on local channels, there are several sporting events to watch regularly on ESPN, CBS Sports Network, NFL Network, and FS1, just to name a few.

Since Hulu + Live TV also includes the Disney Bundle as part of its monthly subscription price, you'll also gain access to ESPN Unlimited which unlocks all ESPN chanels, additional exclusive sporting events (like UFC and college sports), original programming, and more.

Hulu + Live TV also includes a three-day free trial, so you can test out the service before you use it.

ESPN Unlimited With NFL+ Premium

Best for Streaming Live NFL Games

ESPN Unlimited is still a new service, but as of September 3 you can now choose to bundle it with NFL+ Premium. This new streaming option comes after ESPN announced it was acquiring NFL Network back in August. The service will include everything available on ESPN Unlimited as well as the full suite of coverage from NFL+ Premium for $39.99. You can also choose to bundle this with Disney+ and Hulu for a limited time.

This new streaming service won't have all of the NFL games available, but it will have most of them. Access to ESPN channels will get you Monday Night Football while the NFL+ Premium subscription will get you access to local and primetime games as well as NFL RedZone on Sundays. The main downside is that NFL+ only allows you to watch these games live on your phone or tablet. This new bundle is one of the best options for streaming NFL games live this year.

Fubo

Best Variety

Fubo may not be a household name, but it's our pick for the best variety of sporting events to stream and now even includes access to ESPN Unlimited. It features more than 55,000 sporting events per year including NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, NCAA college sports, NASCAR, golf, tennis, boxing, MMA events, and much more. Additionally, international soccer fans can enjoy popular options such as Premier League, LaLiga, UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1, Liga MX, and Serie A.

If you're itching for even more sports programming, Fubo also has various sports add-on packages that include extra channels such as NFL Redzone, MLB.TV, NBA League Pass, a number of international sports channels, and many NCAA conference-specific channels. If you want to try out the service before you commit, there is a fubo seven-day free trial available for new subscribers.

While Fubo is still a standalone streaming service, it's worth noting that the company is in the process of selling to Disney. According to recent reports, that sale is expected to happen sometime in early 2026. This sale would see Hulu + Live TV combining with Fubo eventually.

Peacock

Best For Premier League Soccer and WWE

Since Peacock is owned by parent company NBC Universal, you'll have plenty of sports at your fingertips to stream with this subscription. Premier League soccer, arguably one of the most popular sports worldwide, is widely available to stream on Peacock. With season-long live coverage and exclusive matches available, you'll be able to catch the biggest matches from the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and more.

For fans of WWE, Peacock is a no-brainer as it's the exclusive live streaming home for every WWE premium event including Wrestlemania. But that's not all Peacock has to offer as you'll also be able to catch every NFL Sunday Night Football game as well as Big Ten college basketball.

Although Peacock doesn't currently offer a free trial, there are occasionaly subscription deals for the service that drop the price pretty significantly.

ESPN Unlimited

Best for ESPN Networks

ESPN has officially launched a new streaming service that includes the full suite of ESPN Networks in one package. ESPN Unlmited has expanded what the previous service, ESPN+, had offered prior. In addtion to original content, the new service includes the following channels: ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPN on ABC, ESPN+, ESPN3, SECN+ and ACCNX.

ESPN also recently reached a deal with the NFL that will eventually bring the NFL Network over to the service. There was also a new agreement reached with WWE that will bring WrestleMania to ESPN Unlimited sometime in 2026. So while this service is still fairly new, there's more expected to arrive on it next year.

An ESPN Unlimited subscription is $29.99 per month or $299.99 annually. New subscribers also have the option to sign up a Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Unlimited bundle at no extra cost for the first 12 months. If you're looking for just the content offered on ESPN+ previously, you can choose to sign up for the cheaper ESPN Select plan.

DirecTV Stream

Best Cable Alternative

DirecTV Stream is the satellite-free offering from DirecTV that anyone can sign up for. This streaming-only option includes everything you'd expect from a cable alternative including local networks and popular sports channels such as ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN U, NBC Golf, FS1, NBA TV, MLB Network, and the Tennis Channel.

For sports fans specifically, the DirecTV Choice package is the best bang for your buck, providing access over 125 channels, including major nationwide games and a strong selection of regional sporting events based on your location.

For new subscribers, DirecTV Stream has a five-day free trial that lets you test out the service. DirecTV Stream is also our top pick for streaming NBA games live.

Paramount Plus

Best for PGA Golf

Paramount+ offers all the sports content you'd expect from CBS Sports, including NFL on CBS games and every UEFA Champions League soccer match. Along with a library of sports movies and TV shows, Paramount+ provides daily programming from CBS Sports HQ, documentaries, and more.

For golf fans, upgrading to the Paramount+ with Showtime plan is a great option, as it includes everything in the Essential tier and adds access to major PGA Tour events like the Farmers Insurance Open and the Wyndham Championship.

Paramount+ actually does offer a free trial for new subscribers and is a great way to get sports and other streaming favorites. Paramount is the home of franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog, SpongeBob, and new South Park episodes, so it's a good one to try for free if you haven't already.

Paramount also recently reached a deal with UFC that will bring the sport to Paramount+. This is a seven year deal that is expected to begin this year.

MLB.TV

Best for out-of-market MLB games

Major League Baseball games are available with almost all of the streaming services on this list, but no service has everything. Due to various licensing agreements, it's impossible to find all MLB games on a single service, but an MLB.TV subscription will get you the most. For $94.99 a year or $29.99 a month you'll get access to every out-of-market game. This includes both the the regular season and offseason games.

If you want to test out the service to see what kind of coverage you'll get, there is a 7-day free trial currently available.

Prime Video

Best All-Around Subscription Service

Anyone with an Amazon Prime subscription will get access to Prime Video. Amazon Prime is still primarily a shopping service, but the streaming benefit has grown quite a bit in recent years and now includes a variety of sports. Thanks to a contract with the NFL, Prime Video is now the home of Thursday Night Football. And as of this year, there are even NBA games available.

It certainly doesn't have every game or match available, but Prime Video has become a major powerhouse in the world of sports streaming and is definitely worth considering if you're looking for an affordable option. An Amazon Prime memberhsip costs $14.99 per month and there are free trials available for new subscribers as well as students.

Sports Streaming FAQs

Can You Watch Live Sports For Free?

Yes, you can watch select live sports for free. Although, the type of sport and frequency varies significantly. You can access local channels with a TV antenna and watch many popular sporting events including NFL, MLB, and NBA games, just to name a few, over the air. Streaming services like Sling Freestream also offer ad-supported access to certain live sports.

Which Sports Streaming Services Have Free Trials?

Just about every sports streaming service mentioned above has a free trial you can take advantage of. Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, DirecTV Stream, Amazon Prime, and Paramount+ all have trials that range from three days to a week. And, if you time it well, you may even be able to watch multiple live sporting events that you're interested in during the free trial period. The only outliers currently without a free trial are Peacock and ESPN+, although the latter is available as part of the Hulu + Live TV free trial.

If you're looking to stream more than just sports, check out our list of the best streaming services with free trials in 2026 or more specifically dive into the live TV services with free trials list we've curated.

Battlefield 6 Has Dropped to Just $40 in the New Year Sales

5 janvier 2026 à 17:00

Walmart has dropped Battlefield 6 to just $40 for both PS5 and Xbox in the 2026 New Year sales. That's almost 50% off, and pretty close to its outstanding Black Friday deal I was raving about not so long ago ($35 for a limited time only).

If you're looking for a traditional boots-on-the-ground multiplayer shooter to play in 2026, this is it, and it's the best price we're likely to get on it right now. Snap it up ASAP, as I don't see this deal lasting the rest of the week, especially since Walmart is already indicating that stock is running low.

While it's not the best deal we've ever seen on the game, it's fairly comparable, with just a $5 difference, and well worth checking out if you missed the previous best last year.

Released in October last year, Battlefield 6 has offered a true return to form for the long-running shooter franchise and has pretty much finally outdone Call of Duty at its own game, selling some almighty big numbers.

While we didn’t love the campaign, there’s no denying it’s a gorgeous-looking shooting gallery, but as with any Battlefield game, the real draw is multiplayer.

Reviewer Justin Koreis gave the multiplayer an 8 out of 10, saying, “Battlefield 6’s multiplayer action is expertly crafted, wrapped in a wonderful layer of destructibility that both looks great and materially affects the flow of combat. The gunplay is excellent, with weapons that are accurate enough to reward skilled shooting, but have just enough sway to promote a bit of careful thought while you take aim.”

Whether you’re looking for infantry combat, the opportunity to fly a jet or helicopter, or you just want to pile into a tank with your friends and bring down buildings, there’s pretty much something for everyone here.

Battlefield 6 is currently in the middle of its first season of post-launch content, including new maps and modes, while the RedSec Battle Royale mode is also available as a standalone free-to-play game. Given how successful the game has been for EA, you can likely expect new seasonal updates well into the future.

But, it's also had its own share of recent controversies as well, that you may want to take note of before purchasing, including accusations of AI generated imagery appearing in the game. Following a similar generative AI controversy for rival shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Battlefield has come under fire for selling what some fans have called "low quality AI generated garbage."

Amazon Slashes 50% off Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 as a Little New Years Treat

5 janvier 2026 à 16:04

A new year is upon us, and if you're looking for some new games to stock up on to keep you busy in these early months, Amazon is the place to look.

Though the holidays and their seasonal sale events may be behind us, the retailer is kicking off 2026 with some worthy video game deals. This includes a 50% price drop on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 for PS5 and Xbox.

Normally, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 features a retail price of $59.99, but this offer has dropped it down to just $29.99. Not to mention, it's the best price for both PS5 and Xbox, according to price tracker camelcamelcamel. That's a stellar offer to jump on right now, especially after all of the holiday sales.

If you've been hoping to sink your teeth into a big RPG this year, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is sure to keep you busy. It's a game that we're big fans of. Our review from writer Leana Hafer said: "Armed with excellent melee combat and an exceptional story, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is one part sequel and one part coronation, bringing a lot of the original's ideas to fruition."

Alongside earning high praise in our review, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was also a runner-up nominee in our picks for the best RPG and the best PC game of 2025, which is certainly worth celebrating.

This is one of our favorite deals we've come across recently, but far from the only one to have caught our eye. For even more great video game deals available right now, have a look through our most recent breakdown of the best deals of the day, which includes discounts on Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on Switch 2, Gears of War: Reloaded, and quite a few more.

Styx: Blades of Greed Aims to Carry the Torch for Stealth Games

5 janvier 2026 à 16:00

The opening area of the campaign for Styx: Blades of Greed shows promise and the potential for creative stealth gameplay as a tiny but mighty creature in spaces designed for much larger beings. Extinguishing torches to create safe passages, cutting chandelier chains to crush groups of guards, and popping out of goblin-sized tunnels to assassinate enemies from behind is just kind of Styx’s thing. And now, the third entry in the series has sharpened its blades considerably. If you already liked Styx: Master of Shadows, Styx: Shards of Darkness, or any of the series’ obvious inspirations – such as Thief, Dishonored, Assassin’s Creed, et cetera – you’re in for a treat when Styx: Blades of Greed launches on February 19 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of goblin life, it’s worth noting that the preview session ran through a cloud streaming service, which, unfortunately, experienced considerable latency issues that made the caliber of precision platforming necessary to progress through Styx: Blades of Greed feel more like piloting a drone on another continent than stepping into the boots of a little green fellow. Split-second timing defines Styx's gameplay loop, making input delay a serious obstacle when it appears. Fortunately, after massively downgrading bitrate settings to get this zeppelin flying, the early areas uncovered a beautiful and compelling high-fantasy world with plenty of nooks and crannies to explore.

On first boot, there’s an initial accessibility menu with thoughtful implementation, which is always nice to see. Options for deuteranopia, protanopia, and tritanopia colorblindness modes appear alongside adjustable color vision deficiency severity, color spectrum shifting, and controller vibration settings. It takes less than a second to skip through, but matters enormously to players who need it.

You’ll travel between even larger locations on a sweet zeppelin in classic Warhammer or World of Warcraft fashion.

After a decently paced and informative opening cutscene, a subsequent tutorial layers in movement mechanics gradually. Running, jumping, double-jumping, and power sliding are all properly introduced and explained as the playable zone starts opening up, which is great because the tutorial itself doesn’t overstay its welcome. The B button executes a slide that allows players to slip under obstacles or cover ground quickly, while pressing RB after a jump triggers a cool little dash that propels Styx upward along walls. The preview build also included advanced saves that showcased grappling hook and glider mechanics in the Turquoise Dawn environment, which are available later on in the campaign. That said, our session focused primarily on the opening hours centered around The Wall, a sprawling human settlement built on the side of a mountain.

Styx: Blades of Greed commits earnestly to its high-fantasy roots, and its environments carry substantial detail to help players establish a sense of place in its immersive world. For instance, its opening zone features ornate dwarven architecture covered in ramshackle human structures and detritus, illuminated by atmospheric lighting that casts long shadows across vast industrial spaces. You’ll also travel between even larger locations on a sweet zeppelin in classic Warhammer or World of Warcraft fashion. A deep level of consideration went into the way this world functions, and playing as a goblin within it provides a distinct perspective that makes Styx both unique and interesting.

You’ll find zeppelin crewmates like the dark elf Djarak and human pilot Helledrin to be well-written, which adds dimensionality. Meanwhile, the world is sprinkled with fun side-interactions throughout. Random guards can be overheard making offhand comments about eating goblins and turning them into pies, which would be darkly humorous if they weren't actively trying to murder our boy Styx. Besides some minor NPCs that sound like they're reading lines off scripts, using jarring modern American accents that clash with this vibrant fantasy setting, Styx: Blades of Greed’s voice acting broadly delivers solid performances, particularly during the cutscenes that act as connective tissue between the first few playable areas.

Dead Zeppelin

Styx: Blades of Greed is one of those games where trial and error are key gameplay elements, and you’ll probably die a lot while figuring out the best strategy to get through each challenge. Falling too far will kill you instantly. Likewise, walking into environmental traps like energy-spewing fissures, laser grids, and explosive vents will end your runs immediately. If you find yourself caught in direct combat, enemies kill in two or three hits. Death physics can, at times, create unintentionally comedic moments that add to the fun. For instance, when Styx flops around like a ragdoll after a mistimed jump sends him plummeting off a ledge.

That’s all perfectly fine because autosaves are extremely frequent, and death here is almost overly forgiving. Respawns rarely throw players back more than a minute or two, meaning death is more of a teaching tool than a setback. Each failure reveals something about enemy patrol patterns, environmental hazard placement, or ability limitations. In this way, Styx encourages methodical approaches and keeps everything good and fun, keeping its pacing steady even during some of its harder encounters.

What became clear after the first hour is that Styx: Blades of Greed rewards patience and observation in addition to twitch reflexes. There’s a solid selection of abilities to unlock as well, including Invisibility, which is activated by holding RT and pressing A and can prove invaluable when slipping past large groups of enemies. The climbing mechanics do sometimes feel janky, which could be a side effect of those aforementioned cloud streaming service issues – but animations also look unnatural, moving Styx up surfaces faster than what seems physically plausible.

Still, the stealth systems show a clearer mix of promise and limitations. On a positive note, light and shadow both matter significantly. Enemies spot Styx more easily in illuminated areas, while darkness provides cover. Players can extinguish torches with the Y button, creating safe passages through otherwise dangerous zones. Silent kills require careful positioning – like approaching from behind or above – but when executed properly, stealth is mechanically rewarding. Styx: Blades of Greed’s satisfying death animations convey a brutal elegance to grabbing an enemy, bringing them to their knees, and ending them with a quick throat stab, goblin-style.

Styx: Blades of Greed’s satisfying death animations convey a brutal elegance to grabbing an enemy, bringing them to their knees, and ending them with a quick throat stab, goblin-style.

Even so, the enemy AI typically often came up short in intelligence in the preview build. Guards sometimes get stuck on geometry or fail to react logically to obvious threats. In one notable instance, an enemy watched Styx kill his companion, then promptly turned around and stood facing a door, waiting to receive a knife in his gullet. This inconsistency in tone and mechanical depth is disappointing at times, undermining the tension Styx works so hard to establish with its thick atmosphere, slick stealth action, and excellent worldbuilding. There are times when enemy guards feel genuinely threatening, using ranged weapons with alarming accuracy even when Styx hides in supposedly safe spots like rooftops, or easily scrounging him out of simpler hiding places like cupboards and barrels. And then there are times they seem to forget they’re guards altogether, making it way easier to simply walk to the next zone like Boromir would walk into Mordor if he were a real Son of Gondor.

Stick 'em Wiv Knives

Direct combat in Styx: Blades of Greed feels deliberately awkward, which makes thematic sense: Styx is a small goblin, not a warrior. But this creates frustrating moments when stealth fails. To fight, you must manually draw your dagger by pressing into the right stick, which feels incredibly clunky, creating vulnerable moments during frantic situations. Enemies can much more easily block your attacks, interrupt strikes, and deal significant damage, slaying you in just a few hits; by the time combat starts, you’re basically already dead unless you can run elsewhere and hide.

There is a dodge mechanic here, and enemies do telegraph attacks with a blue flash before striking – but timing feels inconsistent, especially when fighting multiple opponents in confined spaces. The camera compounds these issues by obscuring key details in tight quarters, frequently clipping through geometry while players attempt to track Styx and the enemies he’s trying to fight off. This game clearly wants its problems solved through stealth, not brute force. This would be fine if some of the challenges didn’t end up feeling more punitive than strategic, with far too many enemies to outsmart and not enough breathing room to outmaneuver them.

It’s good, then, that each area typically includes at least one scripted environmental interaction that allows real creativity if you manage to weave it into your strategy. In one tavern, you can cut chandelier chains to crush the group of enemies waiting below, but you’ll need to have already snuck past or incapacitated a whole other group of foes to use this opportunity efficiently. Most of the time, there are opportunities to lure guards into explosive barrels or turn off lights to make an easier path for yourself. These moments highlight what Styx does well: rewarding clever observation and planning over reflexes and combat skill.

About an hour into the session, Styx’s seemingly robust progression systems started becoming available, giving the moment-to-moment gameplay a sense of depth that rewarded exploration beyond surviving to the next story beat. There’s a decent system for item crafting in the field. This feels similar to A Plague Tale in that you’ll collect raw materials in the environment that enable the instant creation of distractions and limited-use weapons. Craftable glass bottles break on impact and distract nearby enemies. Whistles lure guards toward specific locations. Acid traps eliminate both enemies and their bodies, removing evidence quickly and efficiently – a real boon if you can’t find enough time to hide a body in a nearby container before a passing guard catches up to you. Bolts provide ranged silent kills, though the physics feel janky and slow since bolts fly in straight lines and enemies slump over in basic ragdoll animations that lack the cinematic flair the rest of the game strives for.

Styx can equip up to four of these items at once in his quick slots, creating opportunities to switch up loadouts depending upon the situation. The crafting system requires gathering uncommon materials such as iron ore and cloth scraps scattered throughout each level.

Speaking of progression, it’s cool to see experience points accumulate from exploration and successful encounters, eventually unlocking skills in two categories: Amber skills, which lean defensive, and Quartz skills, which feel more aggressive. During the preview session, there were eight unlockable skills visible in the character menu. We only got a chance to try Invisibility and Clone Decoy, but the in-game menu shows some intriguing options that open up further into the story. A few that stood out included Time Shift for super-speed movement, Mind Control for possessing enemies, and Flux Blast for sending out waves of energy and knocking back enemies. The Clone Decoy move is particularly versatile; you throw it down at a location of your choosing, and it makes noise to distract enemies. It seems like with upgrades, multiple clones can remain active simultaneously, making it worthwhile to pump extra points into it if that’s your thing.

Granted, this framework suggests meaningful customization over the course of Styx’s estimated 20-hour campaign. Being able to specialize Styx's abilities based on preferred playstyle – whether that be pure stealth, aggressive elimination of key targets, or a hybrid approach – could add some decent replay value if the system is ultimately as robust as it feels during these early hours.

We spent roughly two hours with Styx: Blades of Greed, and it already looks like a potentially great high-fantasy stealth action game that understands what made the first two entries in its franchise work while expanding upon their scope. The Wall is a breathtaking zone, demonstrating Styx’s impressive environmental storytelling. Standing upon rooftop vantage points and looking outward, you can see the rolling mass of buildings clinging to the mountainside connected by precarious bridges, fires dotting the darkness below, creating a sense of lived-in verticality that excites us for the rest of the campaign.

Even in its current state, though, significant questions remain. Particularly around whether the enemy AI improves beyond its early inconsistencies, whether the grappling hook and glider feel good in later zones, or whether the narrative delivers on its setup as Styx leads a zeppelin crew in pursuit of valuable Quartz and away from the pursuing Inquisition that’s set out to hunt him down. The technical rough edges and combat frustrations can't be ignored, but they also don’t obscure the feat that Blades of Greed attempts and largely seems to nail.

Simply put, we’re excited for the rest of it. This is already shaping up to be a memorable third entry to cap off the Styx trilogy, and hopefully it will become the next great methodical stealth game in the vein of classic Thief and Dishonored.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Developers Hid The Meanings Behind Dozens of Character and Enemy Names Within The Game's Code

5 janvier 2026 à 15:58

A Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 fan has discovered hidden name explanations for the game's enemies and other characters buried within the game's files, which give an intriguing look at some of their origins.

The descriptions — some of which even include links out to Wikipedia — were discovered by reddit user Responsible-Race-575 and appear to have been intended for development staff translating the game's text into other languages.

Of course, Clair Obscur is developed by French studio Sandfall Interactive and is heavily influenced by French language and culture, and the explanations here look to be an attempt to ensure as much of the game's original references make it through into other languages. So, how much did you spot?

Some of the name references are straightforward. A note for the Nevron enemy Potier explains that its name simply means "potter", because "it's an enemy that uses pots." Fair enough. The trumpet-wielding Troubadour, meanwhile, uses the same name as that of a French minstrel or composer. Makes sense.

Barbasucette is a combination of the French words for beard ("barbe") and lolipop ("sucette"). Licornapieds is the smushing together of unicorn ("licorn") and 'with feet' ("à pieds").

If you hadn't guessed already, the annoying Petank enemy — a fast-moving ball on legs that likes to run away — is a reference to the French boules game Pétanque. Finally, it's confirmed that Gestral fighter Ono Puncho is indeed a reference to anime hero One-Punch Man (and Sandfall even provides a Wikipedia link to details of the anime for further explanation).

My favorite note is the one for a gestral named Limonsol, whose name is simply explained as an "inside joke." No further detail is provided, other than a request that the name to be transliterated. Why Limonsol? Putting my detective hat on for a moment, I wonder if this could be a reference to the French energy drink Nocco, which comes in a Limon Del Sol flavor. Nocco is, of course, the name of another prominent gestral character. Cheers to that.

Still after more from Clair Obscur? One final update to the game arrived in December with new challenges and boss fights, and you can catch up on the full patch notes for Expedition 33's final update here. Already though, of course, fans are already speculating what might come next, Sandfall has teased that Clair Obscur is a "franchise name."

Hulu + Live TV

Best Streaming Bundle With TV

Hulu + Live TV combines the popular Hulu streaming service with a live TV package that features over 95 channels. It's an excellent choice for fans who want to experience the best of Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, and more, as it includes the Disney Bundle in its monthly cost, a service that would typically set you back $19.99 per month. This means, in addition to more than 95 live TV channels, you'll also get the base Hulu (with ads), Disney+ (with ads) and ESPN (with ads).

With Hulu + Live TV, you'll also enjoy unlimited DVR space to record your favorite movies and shows. Plus, the service allows you to stream on two supported devices at the same time, or you can upgrade to unlimited screens so the whole family can watch without anyone getting kicked off.

Fubo

Best For Sports Variety

Fubo is a live TV subscription service with a strong focus on sports, offering more than 200 channels and unlimited Cloud DVR storage to record your favorite content. YouTube TV

Best Alternative for Sports

YouTube TV is, as you can imagine, a live TV service provided specifically through YouTube. The base plan comes with over 100 live channels, including Fox, ESPN, Nickelodeon, TLC, and NBC, and is generally a particularly good deal for live sports. The service lets you make up to six individual accounts, stream on up to three screens, and gives you unlimited DVR space. Right now, YouTube is offering $30 off the base plan, normally priced at $82.99/month, for your first three months.

If what you're interested in is ad-free YouTube videos and unlimited downloads, you're probably looking for YouTube Premium, a separate subscription starting at $7.99/month.

Sling Freestream

Best For Free TV

If you're just looking for something to watch without a particular preference, Sling Freestream might be a solid option. It features over 600 channels with more than 40,000 on-demand movies and TV shows— completely free of charge. Of course, don't expect any recent movies or TV shows. You'll mostly find reruns and older content, but with such a wide variety, you're bound to find something interesting to watch.

While not required, creating a free Sling TV account gives you 10 hours of complimentary DVR recordings, allowing you to pause, fast-forward, and rewind content. Plus, you'll earn rewards and even have a chance to win prizes just by watching TV or movies through Sling Freestream. Sling Freestream also gives you the option to upgrade with various add-ons from the Sling TV plans later on from within your profile.

There are plenty of other free streaming services out there, but this version from Sling TV is our overall top pick.

Live TV Streaming FAQs

Can You Watch Live TV For Free?

Certain TV shows and channels can be viewed for free, but don't expect any major networks. One of the easiest ways to catch live TV is by utilizing a TV antenna to pick up your local channels and a handful of extras. Aside from that, your best bet is to check out a free streaming site or app like Sling Freestream (mentioned above), the Roku Channel, Tubi, and more.

Which Live TV Streaming Services Have Free Trials?

Most of the live TV streaming services mentioned above offers a free trial, though the duration varies slightly. DirecTV Stream offers five days, and Fubo is the most generous with a seven-day trial.

Should You Get Cable Instead?

Well, we've really come full circle now, haven't we? After years of cutting the cord and moving exclusively to streaming, many people are starting to feel the burn. With so many streaming services available, content being removed, and constant price hikes, it almost feels like going back to cable could make more sense.

While you can often find basic cable for around $50–$100 per month in most areas, these prices are usually limited-time promotional offers. Signing a contract often locks you in for a year or two, and once that time is up, the price can skyrocket. Then, you're faced with the decision of either sticking with the higher price or hunting for a new provider.

One of the main advantages of streaming services is the flexibility they offer with month-to-month billing. Once you’ve had your fill of a particular service, you can cancel with no hassle—and if something new catches your eye, you can easily resubscribe.

Ultimately, the decision is yours to make. If you’re fed up with the ever-expanding number of streaming services and rising costs, cable might be a good option to consider again.

Netflix Announces One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, Which the Duffer Brothers Say Was Inspired by The Lord of the Rings Behind-the-Scenes Documentaries

5 janvier 2026 à 15:00

Netflix has announced One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, a behind-the-scenes documentary on the show’s fifth and final season.

Due out on Netflix on January 12, the film follows the cast, creators, and crew as they bring the final season to life — and say goodbye. One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5 is directed by Martina Radwan, who commented:

“I’m endlessly grateful to the Duffer Brothers for trusting me with a front-row seat to this incredible journey. Spending a full year on set with them was a true privilege — and an absolute thrill. Being able to get close and watching them bring this beloved show to life in real time, was pure joy. I only wish I could travel back in time and document Seasons 1 through 4. From the cast to their long-time collaborators, everyone welcomed me with remarkable generosity, openly sharing their personal and collective experiences from a decade of creative filmmaking. The Duffers always push boundaries and inspire everyone to be better, including myself. Their process and the show represents everything I love about filmmaking.”

The trailer, below, teases the film, which touches on the Duffer Brothers' internal discussion around the fate of Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown. This is something the pair have discussed in detail in various post-release interviews.

The Duffer Brothers also issued a comment: “Growing up in Durham, North Carolina, we dreamed of becoming filmmakers — but Hollywood felt impossibly far away. Everything changed when we watched the behind-the-scenes documentaries for The Lord of the Rings — on-the-ground films that showed the real nuts and bolts of how a massive production actually gets made. We saw how stressed Peter Jackson was and thought: yep, that’s the dream. With the decline of physical media, that kind of behind-the-scenes storytelling has largely disappeared. We wanted to bring it back.

"One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things Season 5 — beautifully captured and directed by Martina Radwan — is our attempt to do just that. If you love Stranger Things, or if you’re simply curious how a major Hollywood production comes to life, this one’s for you.”

Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings also influenced the Season 5 finale. Last week, the Duffer Brothers said the lengthy Season 5 finale epilogue and its end credits were inspired by The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

“We thought about [The Lord of the Rings] Return of the King a lot, just in terms of the length of the epilogue,” Matt Duffer told Deadline. “I always defend the Return of the King epilogue, but I’m one of those hardcore Lord of the Rings fans, to the point where I’ve watched all extended editions in a row on a single day. If you do that, the epilogue feels absolutely perfect and not long at all. In fact, if it felt shorter, it would feel absolutely distressing.

“I think, Stranger Things, if you watch Season 5 all the way through, it’s going to feel great. You just want to spend extra time with these characters. Anyway, that was sort of the reference for the epilogue. Then we love the credits at the end of Return of the King. So that was the initial idea, and they were these very simple illustrations.”

Stranger Things may have come to an end, but we’ve got plenty more on the show, including the Duffer Brothers explaining why the demogorgons didn’t help Vecna out in the final battle, and first details on the live-action spinoff.

Code Vein 2: The Final Preview

5 janvier 2026 à 15:00

“Anime Souls” is a term often used to describe the original Code Vein. And while that is a very simple but fair descriptor – it is after all one of the very few soulslike games with an undeniably anime aesthetic – it also doesn’t really describe what was actually cool about the 2019 action RPG. For instance: the emotional storylines of your companion characters, delivered in these excellent sequences where you relive their most tragic memories; the phenomenal score by the wonderful Go Shiina; the flexible Blood Code system that allowed players to switch up their stats and playstyle without having to respect their whole character while also being able to pick and choose skills from other “classes.” There was certainly room for improvement in the core combat and level design, but it had great ideas, and would benefit from some refinement and iteration.

And that’s what Code Vein 2 seems to be all about: Refinement and iteration. Based on the three or so hours that I’ve played, Code Vein 2 felt familiar, but altogether much more confident and focused on the strengths of the original, while also getting off to an immediately more interesting start thanks to a brand new story with some intriguing time travel twists.

Like the first game, at the heart of Code Vein 2’s plot is a catastrophe that occurred many, many years ago. This time around, it’s known as the Resurgence, a calamity that corrupted everything it touched and gave rise to a new being known as a Revenant. Somehow, the Revenants managed to seal the Resurgence, but the victory was short-lived, as soon after, the Resurgence… well, surged again. This led to a battle that became known as the Upheaval, in which several heroes gave their lives to seal the Resurgence once again. One hundred years later, that seal is weakening, causing existence-erasing explosions all over the world, and this time, the means to save everything exists not in the present, but in the past.

And thus the stage is set for Code Vein 2’s time-hopping story that sees the nameless protagonist teaming up with Lou Magmell, a Revenant with the power to jump back and forth through time as they link up with the heroes of the past to try and find a way to stop the imminent world-ending threats of the future.

It’s a pretty good hook! As someone who never really got invested in the world of Code Vein 1, outside of learning more about my companions, I was pretty happy that I was immediately invested this time around. I looked forward to seeing how the heroes of the past fought back against the Resurgence and what ultimately brought about their fates. I got a chance to ask Code Vein 2’s director, Hiroshi Yoshimura, if he looked to any specific sources of inspiration with regards to their interpretation of time travel, or the rules that govern it, and he said, “I wouldn’t say there’s one film or work in particular, but one golden rule that we had within the development was that once the player has observed or seen something happen within the game, then that becomes truth, or that becomes locked in the sense that it can’t be overturned.”

Thicker Than Blood

On the gameplay side of things, much of the core of Code Vein 1 is still intact in the sequel. It’s still a stamina-governed combat system with a big focus on special abilities tied to various Blood Codes, which essentially determine your class or playstyle. Switching to a new Blood Code changes your stats, defense, and your max Ichor, which is essentially the mana that powers your special abilities. One of the interesting new twists of Blood Codes is that they also now come with a series of traits that can dramatically affect how you approach combat. For example, traditionally, the way combat works is you attack an enemy to inflict stacks of bleed, and then use a special technique known as a jail attack (previously known as “Drain Attacks”) to collect that blood, which then gets converted into the Ichor that you use to use your special skills.

Pretty much every aspect of Code Vein 2's combat is more customizable than before.

But if that doesn’t sound like your style of play, you could instead use Josée’s Blood Code, which lets you gain Ichor simply by attacking, but that boon comes with a catch. If you gain more than your maximum Ichor, you take a significant chunk of damage. This was my preferred method of play, as it meant that I didn’t have to fish for opportunities to use my jail attacks to regain my Ichor, and it helped me be extra vigilant about using my abilities regularly so I didn’t end up overflowing with Ichor. Of course, my attention would occasionally wane, and this would occasionally be the death of me, but regardless, I appreciated the added twist to the gameplay.

In fact, pretty much every aspect of Code Vein 2’s combat is more customizable than before. While Drain Attacks used to be tied to your Blood Codes, they’re now got their own equippable slot in your inventory, and there are a ton of different types. You’ve got the returning Ogre claw for a fast and short ranged option; Hounds for a powerful two-hitting mid-range attack; Stinger to nail enemies from afar; and then you’ve got a handful of completely new attacks like Ivy, which caused spikes to emerge from the ground and can be placed by charging the attack and moving the targeting circle; Bat, which causes you to grow wings and sends out a swarm of bats, and Reaper, which is a scythe that can be swung around to hit enemies in an AOE.

In addition to Jails, you can also equip powerful subweapons known as Bequeathed Formae, and you can also choose a Defensive Formae as well.. With regards to the Bequeathed Formae, I only got to see two of these in my demo: a Battle Axe known as Idris’s Conceit, and a Longbow called Statesman’s Longbow. I opted more for a strength build throughout most of my demo time, so I primarily used the Battle Axe, and it certainly was a difference- maker in fights where I would get swarmed by enemies. All I needed to do was create some space to account for the lengthy windup, and boom. Once it hit, it would create a temporal field that slowed everything down, making it easy to clean up the survivors.

As for the Defensive Formae, you’re able to basically choose whether you want a standard block, a parry, or a dodge, with a couple of others thrown in there with some slight differences in how they perform. Im a huge fan of all these changes, as they allow even finer tuning of a build to your personal preference without becoming too overwhelming or complicated.

The Big Question

One of the most common things that always gets discussed anytime there’s a new soulslike in town is how difficult it is, so let’s talk about it. For the most part, I got through this demo without much issue. Granted, this was a provided save, so it’s hard to say how things would have been if I got to this point on my own playthrough with my own loadout, but Bandai Namco was very generous in giving us a wide selection of weapons, Blood Codes, and jails, and I never felt like I was particularly under- or overlevelled.

Code Vein 2 also smartly lets you decide on whether you want your companion to follow you and participate in combat like an AI coop partner, or whether you’d prefer to have them be assimilated into you, providing you with specific buffs, but without giving you the benefit of another body to deal damage or distract enemies. It’s a great trade-off that allows Code Vein 2 to maintain the companion element that makes it such a distinct soulslike in the first place, while also allowing players who enjoy tackling these challenges as a solo player to do so without feeling like they’re being severely punished.

Where the difficulty really turned up several notches was in the two boss battles that I got to experience.

Where the difficulty really turned up several notches was in the two boss battles that I got to experience. These were true tests of skills and reflexes and took nearly half of my allotted three hours of playtime, and that’s without even delivering the final blow against the second one. The first boss could simply wipe out my health with just one or two hits, while also afflicting me with the acid status effect, which would deal damage over time. My windows to punish were very small, making me opt for a strength-oriented build so I could land a powerful and chargeable overhead slash with my greatsword to make the most out of those opportunities. Eventually, I prevailed, only to be hard stuck against the second boss. This boss was fast, had an extremely dangerous second phase that I didn’t get to see enough of to really learn its new attacks, and had the nasty habit of electrifying the floor and inflicting bind on me, which would paralyze me long enough for the boss to land another free attack.

Despite the difficulty spike, I loved both these encounters, and while I'm a bit salty that I couldn’t finish the job at the preview event, I’m looking forward to the runback once I get the full game in my hands and can attempt the boss with my own personal build. Overall, Code Vein 2 is shaping up to be a marked improvement over the original in just about every area. We’ll see if Bandai Namco is able to stick the landing when this soulslike sequel releases on January 30, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

'The Biggest Discovery in Red Dead Redemption 2 in Years' — Rockstar Fans Uncover Spiderweb Mystery Unnoticed Since Release, and Now the Hunt Is on for Answers

5 janvier 2026 à 14:08

Red Dead Redemption 2 fans are searching for answers to a newly-discovered mystery that's been hidden within Rockstar's cowboy sequel since its original release.

After more than seven years, a group of Red Dead aficianados recently realized they'd stumbled on something no one had reported previously — a series of mysterious spiderwebs that began spawning on eight telegraph poles throughout the game's vast world, each during a specific hour of the night.

Two weeks on, more clues have now been found, and it's become clear that this is a deliberate secret included by Rockstar within the game, which players are now rushing to uncover the full meaning of.

Similar to Red Dead Redemption 2's quest involving dreamcatchers (and a familiar spiderweb mystery in GTA 5), players discovered in late December 2025 that these newly-found spiderwebs contain a feather which can be shot free — though the webs themselves only appear for one hour of in-game time each night.

An initial video on the mystery by Rockstar fan channel Strange Man credits this discovery to a trio of fans, goldenplaysterraria, pariah87 and u/FL4VA-01, while comments on the video from others say they've checked and discovered this secret really has been there since the game's original launch — all the way back in 2018.

Fast forward to last week, and a fresh update detailed a second phase of the mystery's unravelling. Here, players discovered that the various spiderwebs lead to one central web that contained a cryptic direction in its web design: "N" and a symbol for another telegraph pole. Heading north (as directed by "N") leads to another wooden pole which, once found, can be shot at to reveal yet another direction under its bark.

All of that brings us pretty much up to date, and up to a new video published just yesterday which details where the mystery is at now. Currently, players are following one final cryptic telegraph pole message that depicts a final direction, and the symbol for a guitar.

Where is this all leading? Players are not sure, but the sense is that there's definitely more to this mystery to solve. Players are now hurriedly searching the Fort Wallace location — which holds the nearest guitars to the mystery's most recent clue — and are mapping every other guitar found in the game, in case it sparks some new revelation.

With this secret having existed for so long, there's little chance that Rockstar itself is teasing anything big or new at the end. (Though, what a way to reveal single-player DLC this would be!) For Red Dead Redemption 2 fans, though, this is an exciting moment — something new to ponder at last in their beloved game, as the wait for news of a re-release or new content stretches on.

Now All 11 Seasons of The X-Files Are Free to Stream, Newcomers Are Falling in Love With the Show for the First Time, and Veterans Are Re-Ranking Their Favorite Episodes

5 janvier 2026 à 13:49

The X-Files is back in the conversation after all 11 seasons were made available to stream for free — sparking an influx of newcomers and veterans rewatching and reappraising their favorite episodes and moments from the series.

Mulder and Scully’s spooky sci-fi adventures were made available on free streamer Pluto TV last week, with 218 episodes including the 2016 revival on demand and on a 24/7 linear channel dedicated to the series. This has fueled renewed interest in one of the most popular TV shows of the 90s from fans, who are — as they did 30 years ago — venturing online to discuss its various plot twists.

As a veteran X-Files fan myself, I’ve enjoyed seeing newcomers express their delight in watching the show for the first time, getting to grips with its overarching alien abductions and government cover-ups storyline, as well as its classic ‘Monster of the Week’ episodes.

“We just finished episode one of season one and...wow! We loved it,” said one fan. “It even looks and sounds better than modern TV shows, I suppose because it was shot on location and not on sets. But it just feels better acted, as well as looking better. If going back in time to enjoy TV is going to be even HALF as good as this experience, then that is what we will be doing from now on! I want to believe.”

Veteran fans are expressing their jealousy at those experiencing the X-Files for the first time, knowing what is to come — and issuing warnings for the occasional spoof episode in which David Duchovny’s Mulder and Gillian Anderson’s Scully let their hair down. “Mulder and Scully are quite the comic duo when they want to be,” one fan told a newcomer.

Of course, fans are re-ranking their favorite episodes as well as monsters (no spoilers here!). They’re also wondering whether the series would have been better off ending before its divisive ninth season. And there is of course plenty of healthy… debate about the rights and wrongs of poor old Krycek.

It’s worth remembering that X-Files was one of the first shows with an online “fandom,” with its reaction culture perhaps foreshadowing the future of the internet. X-Files promoted theorycrafting, in-jokes, and memes. There were plenty of hoaxes, the odd backlash, and… shipping. The fandom became as big a part of the experience as watching the show itself, laying the groundwork for 30 years of discourse.

And perhaps the X-Files will get to do it all over again. Ryan Coogler, the director of Creed, Black Panther, and Sinners, is currently working on an X-Files revival for television, and Gillian Anderson has expressed her interest in reprising her role.

“We intend on having both Monsters of the Week and the overarching conspiracy,” Coogler recently said of X-Files. “I’m grappling with that. But that's what I'm doing now. Panther comes after that. I’m blessed to be working on things this cool.”
