J.D. Tuccille: Trump is losing Americans on domestic use of the National Guard

16 novembre 2025 à 12:00
Since taking office, U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly called out the National Guard to enforce law and order in American cities. Generally, he does so under the color of protecting federal facilities and enabling Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to pursue undocumented immigrants in the face of sometimes violent opposition, though he also invokes the supposedly “lawless” nature of Democrat-run jurisdictions (which are, to be clear, not well-run). This way, he can argue both that his political opponents are defying the federal government and that they’re too incompetent to govern. Read More

Despite Trump’s cane sugar activism, Canadian Coke drinkers should get used to high-fructose corn syrup

16 novembre 2025 à 12:00
WASHINGTON, D.C. — “Coke is it” was a popular TV ad for the famed soda back in 1982, featuring teens singing Coca-Cola’s praises around a piano. 15 novembre 2025 à 13:00

Conrad Black: Conservative MPs leaving Poilievre shame themselves

15 novembre 2025 à 12:00
There has been a good deal of nasty talk recently, especially in notoriously Liberal journalistic circles, about dissenters crumbling away from Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre into the outstretched arms of the Liberal government, straining to scavenge itself into a parliamentary majority. The customary version is that the Liberals are rubbing their hands in glee at this anticipated Conservative disintegration but prayerfully hope that it will not shake out the Conservative leader, Pierre Poilievre, whom they believe to be a permanent doormat for them on the threshold of the prime minister's residence, (if it is ever ready for reoccupation). Todd Howard: A message to those who injured my Jewish daughter in TMU attack

15 novembre 2025 à 12:00
My children are Jewish. Since the October 7, 2023 attack on the Nova Musical Festival, my eldest child has twice been violently attacked in Toronto, in effect, as a result of being born Jewish. The most recent violence perpetrated upon my daughter saw her hospitalized. I speak of the Nov. 5 attack by masked protesters on the attendees of a private event in downtown Toronto where Israeli Defense Forces soldiers were scheduled to speak. Read More
