I’m not convinced this Apple Account tool actually does anything

26 février 2025 à 23:19

Fifteen days ago, Apple released a tool for iPhone and iPad that allegedly allows you to migrate purchases from one Apple Account to another. The primary requirement is that you must be logged in with both Apple Accounts on the same iPhone or iPad.

The only problem is that there are also secondary, tertiary, quaternary, quinary, senary, septenary, octonary, nonary, and denary requirements as well. There were so many requirements that I had to learn what comes after tertiary!

Best of all is that the tool doesn’t explain what went wrong when your two Apple Accounts don’t meet the very strict criteria. It just fails.

Brits unmoved by loss of Advanced Data Protection – and Apple needs to change that

26 février 2025 à 13:53

In a world in which privacy is a hot-button issue, we might have expected Brits to be outraged that their government was responsible for Apple withdrawing Advanced Data Protection from the UK. In reality, it’s gone largely unremarked.

A new Bloomberg piece suggests that’s because people care far less about privacy than they claim. While I do think there’s some truth to that, it’s not the primary reason …

Return to inbox: this new iPhone Mail setting fixes one of the app’s most annoying quirks

26 février 2025 à 12:10

One of the longest standing feature requests for Apple Mail on iPhone is for the app to change how it behaves when a user moves a message to a different folder, or sends it to the trash.

Until iOS 18.4, the Mail app would always automatically move on to the next message in the inbox, which would annoyingly cause that unrelated message to be marked as read in the process. Over the last several days, the “bug” has gained traction on various social networks including TiKTok.
