MagSafe Monday: ESR’s MagSafe power bank delivers Qi2 charging with a built-in LED panel and kickstand

13 janvier 2025 à 20:00

MagSafe battery packs have changed portable charging for iPhone users. They’re convenient, compact, and perfect for those who want to avoid carrying extra cables. The ESR Qi2 MagSlim Kickstand power bank builds on these benefits, adding some nice features like a kickstand and LED display, making it a great option for charging away from a wall adaptor.

BMW’s new iDrive system still supports CarPlay, but only barely

13 janvier 2025 à 17:50

At CES last week, BMW unveiled a major revamp to its iDrive infotainment system, built on the new “BMW Operating System X.” The revamp brings a new “BMW Panoramic Vision” design with infotainment that stretches around, described as “high tech meets highly intuitive operation.”

The good news is that the new iDrive system still supports Apple CarPlay. The bad news, however, is that BMW has done the bare minimum to integrate CarPlay – and it’s actually a downgrade in some ways.

13 janvier 2025 à 04:23

While the MacBook Pro is the place to go for the latest and greatest tech, I’ve always been drawn to the for one key reason: portability. There’s just something really nice about the thinness and lightness of the MacBook Air, one that makes me willing to compromise on miniLED, ProMotion, additional ports, and so on.

The isn’t a perfect computer by any means, but there are some simple upgrades that I’d like to see Apple make with the M4 MacBook Air this year. Any of these upgrades would make it a much better package in my book.

According to Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, Apple is planning no sort of Vision Pro refresh in 2025. He mentions that it’s possible that Apple could theoretically unveil a headset ahead of a release next year, but all signs are pointing to new Vision Pro hardware launching in 2026 instead.

On the other hand, he reports that Apple’s more “urgent goal” is to create a cheaper headset, and Apple is ‘ramping up’ development for that headset.

HomeKit Weekly: Is 2025 the year to build your dream smart home? Start with these simple Matter-compatible lightbulbs.

10 janvier 2025 à 19:00

When it comes to smart home lighting, you have two main options: smart lightbulbs or smart outlet adapters paired with traditional lamps.
