The legal maneuver comes after defense lawyer Jeremy Bartley previously claimed Stines was dealing with an “extreme emotional disturbance” when he pumped multiple gunshots into Mullins, 54, on Sept. 19 inside the Letcher County Courthouse.

“This has been the most difficult time of our lives,” the parents said in a statement through their lawyers.

“That and the whole flight data recorder are important to find out what went wrong so it can be prevented in the future."

“Our city deserves a leader that serves its people first and always, not someone focused on themselves and their own political interests."

“If she is not capable of doing so, we will be forced to do it for her! Washington, D.C. must become CLEAN and SAFE!”
