Apple raises base price of MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, but RAM upgrade costs remain unchanged

Apple just launched the new generation MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, which was an opportunity for the company to give us some insight into how the recent surges in memory, storage and other PC components are impacting its pricing.

The answer is somewhere in the middle. The entry price into the Air and Pro has been bumped up, but the much-feared jump in RAM upgrade pricing did not happen. RAM costs for consumers remain the same …

Some Apple AI servers are reportedly sitting unused on warehouse shelves, due to low Apple Intelligence usage

Earlier this year, Bloomberg reported that Apple was looking to host the much-delayed new Siri models on Google servers, rather than Apple’s Private Cloud Compute. The Information is reporting a similar story this morning, saying that Google has been tasked with running Siri servers inside its data centers, while adhering to Apple’s privacy standards.

The Information goes on to detail how Private Cloud Compute is not up to task. As well as being underpowered, it is also reportedly underutilized in its current state, with the company only using about 10% of its capacity on average, leading to some already-manufactured Apple servers to be sitting dormant on warehouse shelves.

The Formula 1 season kicks off next weekend, and it marks the start of Apple’s exclusive broadcast partnership in the United States. The core of the deal is that all races will stream live (and on-demand) on Apple TV, but the company is going all out to increase the exposure of F1 across all of its platforms.
