Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Hits Streaming This Month

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is coming to Max on August 16, 2024, making its streaming debut in the same week as its home release.

Warner Bros. Discovery announced the streaming release just one week before Furiosa arrives on Max. A few days prior, on August 13, Furiosa is getting a 4K UHD & Blu-ray Steelbook and Standard Edition, giving people plenty of options for watching George Miller's latest Mad Max movie from the comfort of their homes.

Furiosa spans 15 years and leads directly into Fury Road with an origin story about the titular renegade warrior before she joined forces with Mad Max, including the numerous trials she faced after being snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falling into the hands of Chris Hemsworth's cape-wearing warlord.

The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Furiosa, who took over from Charlize Theron to play a younger version of the character for the Mad Max spinoff prequel, along with Lachy Hulme, John Howard, Angus Sampson, Tom Burke, Alyla Browne, George Shevtsov, Charlee Fraser, Elsa Pataky, Josh Helman. and Nathan Jones.

Miller revealed in May that he had a "whole story" planned for a Furiosa follow-up, which he has been toying with for years, but it seems like that won't be moving forward anytime soon, perhaps unsurprising after Furiosa had the worst Memorial Day box office opening in 30 years, bowing to a disappointing $32 million in the U.S.

The box office performance of Furiosa was not due to negative reviews, as it currently sits at 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. IGN also gave the movie a rare 10/10 score, saying: "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga weaves a hero's journey of epic proportions, ushering in a powerful reflection on what it means to live and love in a dying world."

And just in case anyone left theaters with questions, Miller previously sat down with IGN to break down the ending and share his insight.

Standout Deadpool & Wolverine Cameo Character Really Wants a Solo Film

Spoiler warning: This article contains spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine.

Deadpool & Wolverine is chock full of superhero cameos, but one actor wants to reprise their character for a solo outing.

In perhaps the wildest casting in a string of wild cast reveals, Channing Tatum turns up in Deadpool & Wolverine as Gambit, a role he previously got cast in but never actually got to play until now. Despite getting to fulfil a long-held dream, the actor thinks his character deserves more screen time with a standalone movie.

"I sure hope so," Tatum told Variety of a potential Gambit movie. "From your mouth to God's ears. Write it into existence, my friend. Please."

Tatum has made no secret that he wants to star in a solo movie for Marvel Studios, but he is still waiting for his little prayer to get an answer. "Of course I've said it. I've been saying I want it for the last 10 years. It's in Bob Iger and Kevin Feige's hands. I pray to God."

Tatum has been gunning to play Gambit since X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006. He was originally cast to play the Ragin' Cajun before the character got cut from the script. And for over a decade he's been trying to make a Gambit spinoff film, but it got killed when Disney bought Fox, leaving him "traumatized."

He finally got to make his long-anticipated arrival as the deadly card dealer in Deadpool & Wolverine — a movie that achieved the largest R-rated global box office opening ever with a staggering $438.3 million and the eighth-biggest domestic weekend box office debut of all time, with ticket sales reaching $205 million.

Tatum shared a social media post to show his appreciation for his MCU debut shortly after the film hit theaters. The actor posted two near-identical photos of him and Reynolds standing side-by-side at San Diego Comic-Con, taken nearly 10years apart, and thanked his co-star for making the cameo a reality.

Director Shawn Levy said he knew that Tatum's Gambit cameo would be "deeply gratifying" for the actor, as he is well aware of how long he has wanted to play the character, being one of the "25 different directors who met with Channing about directing the Fox Gambit movie" when those discussions were happening.

For now, fans can see what Tatum brings to the table in Deadpool & Wolverine — and don't forget to stick around for the credits.

Ryan Reynolds Considered Nicolas Cage's Ghost Rider for Deadpool & Wolverine

Spoiler warning: This article contains spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine.

Ryan Reynolds considered getting Nicolas Cage to cameo as Ghost Rider in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy previously shared how some of the movie's wild cameos came to be, but now Reynolds has opened up about the actors who didn't make the roster. It turns out that Nicolas Cage could have donned his leather jacket and rode on to the scene as Johnny Blaze, AKA Ghost Rider.

"Yes," Reynolds told Collider, acknowledging that there was a time when the team thought about bringing Cage in to reprise his role as Ghost Rider, adding, "Came to a conversation for sure. Yeah, but no."

Cage starred as Johnny Blaze in the 2007 film Ghost Rider and its 2011 sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, so it's over ten years since he last played the character, but if he had returned for Deadpool & Wolverine, he would have been in good company as several legacy characters showed up in the superhero blockbuster.

While it didn't end up happening, just like Taylor Swift (which Levy admits to being "one of the loudest rumors that came out of nowhere"), his name was, at least, on the table for a moment. The same can't be said for Sir Patrick Stewart, who Levy revealed was "never considered" or "discussed" for a Charles Xavier cameo.

Despite Xavier's absence from the movie, Deadpool & Wolverine had no shortage of X-Men characters from the Fox era of films, including appearances from Pyro, Sabretooth, Azazel, and many more. Xavier's evil twin sister, Cassandra Nova, also made her live-action debut, with Emma Corrin starring in the villainous role.

Deadpool & Wolverine premiered on July 26, 2024, to the largest R-rated global box office opening ever, but the film divided critics. IGN called the latest MCU entry "an outrageous, consistently funny superhero comedy that succeeds largely thanks to the contagious enthusiasm of leads Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman."

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 Gets Bizarre First Look

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is officially on the way, and thanks to a new teaser, fans have a better idea of what to expect from the sequel.

Scott Cawthon, the creator of Five Nights at Freddy's, took to X/Twitter to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the original video game and shared a few posts from the production of the upcoming movie, which is a sequel to the 2023 film adaptation starring Josh Hutcherson as a security guard who takes on possessed mascots.

One of the posts shows the work being carried out at Jim Henson's Creature Shop to create animatronic Bonnie. The four photos reveal how the puppet is coming along, and it's safe to say it looks decidedly creepy and faithful to the rabbit animatronic in the game — much like all of the monster mascots in the first film.

In a separate post, Cawthon announced his plans to leak one page from the Five Nights at Freddy's 2 movie screenplay, which he did in a follow-up post. However, to make it more interesting, he released it "alongside three fake screenplay pages," leaving it "up to the fanbase to figure out which page is real."

Fans immediately started sharing their guesses, with page four of the script proving the most popular choice. "The Fourth one seems like a real screenplay, in my opinion," one person wrote beneath the post, with a second person confidently adding: "It's definitely four. The fourth is real. I will bet on this."

A third chimed in: "Leaning towards four, it feels like something that was stripped from a larger mass, doesn't seem to be a parody and doesn't have odd specifics that feel like they were written to sound like a fnaf script. The vagueness makes it feel meaningful. I could be very wrong tho."

Details of the much-anticipated sequel have been slim, but more leaks and teasers will likely surface ahead of its release in December 2025.

Brad Pitt and George Clooney's Wolfs Lands Sequel Ahead of Its Limited Theatrical Release

Wolfs, starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney, has secured a sequel just over a month before the movie opens in theaters.

As reported by Deadline, Apple Original Films has made a deal with Jon Watts to write, direct and produce a sequel to his upcoming crime caper, which will have its premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival before heading to theaters — where the film will have a one-week limited release starting from September 20.

Wolfs blends all the great elements of comedy, action, and drama into a hugely entertaining movie.

Apple acquired the rights to Wolfs in 2021, with Sony Pictures later taking over theatrical distribution rights. It was originally slated for a wide theatrical release before going to Apple's streaming service, but the film has now pivoted to a short stint on the big screen, followed by its Apple TV+ global debut on September 27.

"Wolfs is the kind of big event movie that makes Apple TV+ such an exceptional home for the best in entertainment," Apple Original Films head of features Matt Dentler said in a statement. "With George and Brad's remarkable and engaging chemistry under Jon Watts' extraordinary direction, Wolfs blends all the great elements of comedy, action, and drama into a hugely entertaining movie that will leave audiences ready for what's next. Releasing the movie to theaters before making it widely available to Apple TV+ customers brings the best of both worlds to audiences, and we're excited to see fans embrace the movie as we start working with Jon on the sequel."

The first trailer for Wolfs set the scene (or rather the crime scene) for what audiences should expect, as Clooney stars as a professional fixer hired to cover up a high-profile case but is forced to work with a second fixer, played by Brad Pitt, when he turns up at the same job, leading to an unexpected night in the big city.

Pitt and Clooney lead the pack on Wolfs in a cast that also features Austin Abrams, Amy Ryan, and Poorna Jagannathan.

Cate Blanchett Says She Was Paid in 'Sandwiches' for Her Role in Lord of the Rings

Cate Blanchett has suggested she was not paid well for her role as high elf Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings franchise.

Speaking on Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen quizzed Blanchett on which of her films gave her the biggest paycheck, guessing she must have taken home a ton of loot for starring in Lord of the Rings. But Blachett said she barely made anything for Peter Jackson's film trilogy.

"Are you kidding me?" Blanchett retorted when Cohen shared his assumption. "No, no one got paid anything to do that movie."

I basically got free sandwiches, and I got to keep my [elf] ears.

Cohen followed up by asking if she got "a piece of the backend," to which she replied, "No.That was way before any of that. No, nothing.

"I wanted to work with the guy who made 'Braindead,'" she continued, referencing Jackson's 1992 zombie comedy splatter film. "I basically got free sandwiches, and I got to keep my [elf] ears — which is something."

To wrap up the conversation, Blanchett added: "Women don't get paid as much as you think they do."

The Lord of the Rings trilogy grossed over $2.9 billion worldwide and didn't stop there, spawning The Hobbit film series, a half-billion-dollar season of television with The Rings of Power (which has a second season on the way), and the promise of new movies, including The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.

Blanchett has not had any involvement with the franchise since The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, but has had numerous memorable roles in the likes of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Thor: Ragnarok, and Don't Look Up. She also stars in Borderlands as the infamous outlaw Lilith.
