The Arc is Sonos' flagship product. We rated it the best soundbar of 2024. This is a premium soundbar and it shows. This 45" soundbar houses 11 precisely engineered internal speakers, including two dedicated height channels. It's Dolby Atmos ready, and there's enough power here that you can probably get away without a subwoofer. However, the Sonos Arc can be wirelessly paired up with other Sonos speakers and subs to add even more sound distribution. The Arc also has a built-in microphone for voice control so it is Alexa and Google Assistant compatible.

If your TV is too small for the Arc's 45" footprint, the consider the Sonos Beam instead. The Beam is a smaller 26" soundbar that still boasts excellent audio quality thanks to four elliptical midwoofers, one central tweeter and three passive bass radiators. It's Dolby Atmos ready and has a mic for voice control.

Thanks to its diminutive 22" length, the Sonos Ray soundbar fits just about anywhere with just about any size TV. Despite its compact size, it still pumps out room-filling audio with its two tweeters and two woofers. The Sonos Ray has built-in Wi-Fi so it can double up as a home audio speaker through the Sonos app, Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, and more. Note that the Sonos Ray does not have built-in smart functionality.

If you want to add ground-shaking bass to your Sonos setup, there's still nothing better than a separate standalone subwoofer. Despite its compact size, the Sonos Sub Mini boasts two 6" drivers that face inwards towards each other in a sealed enclosure to eliminate unwanted vibrations. Each driver is powered by its own Class D digital amplifier and delivers more than enough sound pressure for even a large room. The Sonos Sub Mini maintains a small footprint and it looks good.

The Sub 4 offers even more power in the form of two 5"x8" woofers housed in a larger enclosure. Unlike the Sonos Mini which uses a sealed design, the Sub 4 is ported for a louder, deeper low-end.

The Sonos Roam 2 is a compact, portable speaker that's designed for both indoor and outdoor use. To that effect, it has a rugged IP67 waterproof and dustproof housing and weighs in at under a pound. The internal battery supplies the Roam 2 with nearly 10 hours of playtime on a single charge. It supports both Bluetooth and wireless and the presence of an internal mic means it is Amazon Alexa compatible.

The Sonos Era 100 is a direct successor to the Sonos One. Sound quality is equivalent to a Sonos Move, which isn't surprising considering they have similar internal components: two tweeters, a mid-woofer, and three class-D digital amps. The Era 100 also supports Dolby Atmos when it is paired with an Arc or Beam soundbar. It has a built-in microphone and can be voice controlled; it can also be used as a smart speaker for both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

The Era 300 is a much larger and better sounding speaker. It has four tweeters and two woofers (double the Era 100), which makes it great for spatial audio. Unlike the Era 100, it supports Dolby Atmos content.

The Move is Sonos' biggest and best portable speaker. Thinks of it as a portable Era 100. This is a standalone speaker with a self-contained battery and can be carried around from room to room. It's also made of more durable materials and is IP56 rated for weather resistance and a small dock is also included. The Move 2 pumps out great sound for its small footprint. Like the Era 100, the Move 2 has two tweeters, three class-D digital amplifiers, a mid-woofer. It also has a built-in microphone for voice control so it is Alexa and Google Assistant compatible.

The Sonos Ace is Sonos' first headphone and it delivers on all fronts. It offers superb sound quality and excellent noise cancellation, it's comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and it looks pretty stylish as far as headphones go. The only knock on it is the price, since it's more expensive than the popular Bose QuietComfort Ultra or Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones. But that's why you get it on Black Friday, when it's $100 off.

Sound quality vs. size

Despite the fact that Sonos products are compact and don't take up much space in your house, they offer surprisingly loud and distortion-free audio. They're definitely pricier than budget options, but the sound quality is more akin to audio products that cost hundreds more or take up much more space.

Easy setup

Sonos devices are usually simple plug and play. All you have to do is plug in a power cable (if even that's necessary) and one connection to your TV (if even that's necessary), download the Sonos app, and you're done. Generally a receiver isn't required; the soundbars are designed to plug right into your TV and the speakers are designed to work wirelessly. For something like a 5.1ch home theater setup, you don't have to deal with a mess of cables. Individual Sonos speakers can pair with your soundbar and be used as rear satellites, and the subwoofer is also wireless so it can be positioned virtually anywhere in your room.

Practically all Sonos speakers can communicate with each other. That means you can pair different Sonos speakers in different rooms for multi-room capability. These headphones even look the part. The JLabs JBuds Lux are thoughtfully designed for both comfort and performance, with cushy earcups that conform to your ear while also providing an effective seal for passive isolation, a padded headband for prolonged comfort, and a foldable design that makes them easy to tote around. Honestly, the only thing JLabs seems to have omitted was the egregious price tag.

Of course, there are plenty of other good wireless noise cancelling headphones on sale for Black Friday, but I guarantee you that you won't find a better pair of headphones at such an incredibly low price.

The Meta Quest 3 is the best standalone consumer-oriented VR headset you can get right now. It continues Meta’s legacy of offering a cost-effective headset that doesn’t require an expensive gaming PC, but can still benefit from one if you have it. That’s a unique feature that sets it apart from almost every other VR headset out there, other than its own predecessors. It's not the best value for a VR headset. That title goes to the Meta Quest 3S. However, the Quest 3 has enough features under its belt to make it the better purchase for experienced VR enthusiasts who want a better visual experience.

What really sets this deal above all other VR deals (like the PlayStation VR2) is that the Meta Quest 3 can be played completely untethered. That means you can play games like Beat Saber or Pistol Whip without having to own a powerful gaming PC or a PlayStation 5 console. Try to find another standalone VR headset at this price and you'll come up empty.

To sweeten the pot even more, every Quest 3 purchased this month comes bundled with the Batman: Arkham Shadow VR game and a three-month trial of Meta Quest+. In IGN's 8/10 review, Dan Stapleton wrote that "Batman: Arkham Shadow makes most of the Arkham series' defining gameplay work respectably well in VR, and its mystery story pays off."

The Quest 3S is an improvement over the original Quest 2 in every way and, amazingly, without a price increase. It adopts many of the same features of the Quest 3, like the new Touch controllers, the upgraded SnapDragon APU, and full color AR passthrough. In IGN's 9/10 Quest 3S review, Gabriel Moss wrote that "raw processing power, full-color passthrough, and snappy Touch Plus controllers make the Quest 3S a fantastic standalone VR headset that also brings entry-level mixed-reality gaming to the masses for – arguably – the very first time.

The Quest 3 costs $200 more than the Quest 3S. That's not a small amount, considering that price difference is 40% of the cost of the Quest 3S, but in my opinion it's worth it. The spec comparisons are listed below:

In essence, the Quest 3S has very similar internals, and the same Touch controllers, but with downgraded optics. That's more significant than it reads on paper. How much enjoyment you get from VR headset is largely determined by the visual quality of the display. If the image that you see is blurry, or distorted, it takes you out of the immersion.

In his Quest 3 review, Eric Song (yes that's me!) wrote that "The Quest 3 continues Meta’s legacy of offering a cost-effective headset that doesn’t require an expensive gaming PC, but can still benefit from one if you have it. That’s a unique feature that sets it apart from almost every other VR headset out there, other than its own predecessors. The sheer amount of upgrades are well worth the $200 generational price increase. For everyone else is willing to make the splurge, the Quest 3 sets the new standard for VR and mixed reality gaming."

Acer Nitro 5 - Performance

Combined with its high-powered GPU, this specific model comes with a 13th Gen Intel Core i5-13420H processor that offers eight cores and 12 processing threads. The CPU defaults to a frequency of 2.1 GHz but can amp up to a Max Turbo Frequency of 4.6 GHz. While its competitor, the Ryzen 5 Processor, is typically better for handling multi-threaded workloads, the i5 features much faster speeds overall when it comes to single-core performance.

In terms of storage space, the laptop comes installed with 8GB of RAM but can reach a capacity of 32GB. It's equipped with a 512GB Gen 4 SSD that may not be big enough for gamers with profoundly large gaming archives, but certainly does the trick if you're downloading a few games at a time from your Steam library. The computer's battery also has the advantage on its competitors with a lifespan of 57 Watt Hours, which lasted around 9 hours and 40 minutes in practice based on PCMark's battery test.

Acer Nitro 5 - Design and Notable Features

When it comes to visuals, the Acer Nitro 5 certainly does not feel budget, despite its low price. This version offers a 15.6" screen with a quick 144Hz refresh rate and a display resolution of 1920x1080 that makes gameplay effective and incredibly immersive. The backlit keyboard takes this laptop to the next level and heavily caters to gamers by using a brighter outline that's used to illuminate the WASD and arrow keys.

Beyond how it looks, feels, and plays, one of the most notable features of this gaming laptop is the Nitro V 15 dual fans and exhaust system that keep the computer chilled during use. Say goodbye to crashing mid-game due to overheating. Fan speeds can be adjusted for the games you play using the NitroSense utility app, which allows users to customize their gaming setup to their needs.

The Alienware AW3225QF was released earlier this year and is actually Dell's one and only monitor that combines a 4K resolution with an OLED panel. It incorporates Samsung's QD OLED technology; QD OLED panels are brighter than traditional OLED panels while maintaining near infinite response time, contrast ratio, and black levels. The Alienware AW3225QF is HDR True Black 400 certified with up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness. It also boasts a 99.3% DCI-P3 color range and is factory calibrated.
