Warhammer 40,000 lore fans are in overdrive after a single page of a new campaign book teased something that’s never happened before in the setting: the meeting of two loyalist primarchs.
The primarchs are the overpowered, genetically-engineered demigod sons of the Emperor, the leaders of the loyalist Space Marine legions before they were broken up into chapters following the catastrophic civil war known as the Horus Heresy. Warhammer 40,000 as a narrative operated for decades with most of the primarchs either thought dead or lost in the warp.
Today, only two primarchs are confirmed alive and active in the current Warhammer 40,000 setting: Ultramarines boss Roboute Guilliman, who returned to the galaxy during the Gathering Storm event in 2017, and Dark Angels chief Lion El'Jonson, who miraculously popped back into existence as part of the Arks of Omen storyline in early 2023. These were galaxy-shaking plot developments for the Warhammer 40,000 setting, and ever since Lion El'Jonson’s shock return to Warhammer 40,000, fans have wondered when he’d finally bump into his brother, Roboute. Now, it looks like that long-awaited family reunion will take place in the coming months, after a new campaign book teased a meeting of the Emperor’s sons.
Word comes from Warhammer 40,000 lore expert Arbitor Ian, who IGN has partnered with for a number of explainer videos, such as the one above. Arbitor Ian got an early look at 500 Worlds: Titus, a soon to be released Warhammer 40,000 campaign book and narrative expansion that features 80 pages of lore covering the beginning of the Ultramarian Reclamation, and published a new video on its most explosive lore reveal.
To back up briefly, Lieutenant Titus from the Space Marine 2 video game has become one of the most recognizable faces in Warhammer 40,000 following its enormous success. To capitalize on Titus’ newfound fame, Games Workshop promoted him to Captain and made him Master of the Watch, which means he’s in charge of defending the 500 Worlds of Ultramar, the realm of Space Marine poster boys, the Ultramarines. With Roboute Guilliman off gallivanting with his Indomitus Crusade, Titus is now in charge of keeping things safe and sound back home, where new Necron threats have emerged, as they always do.
According to the new video from Arbitor Ian, 500 Worlds: Titus has a crucial piece of new lore, found right at the back of the book, that teases a meeting between Guilliman and Lion El'Jonson. It is an intergalactic message written by Lion El'Jonson and intended for Roboute Guilliman that reads: “Brother. We need to talk.”
This seemingly innocuous message teases a momentous plot development for the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Never before have two loyalist primarchs met in the current setting. Of course they spent a great deal of time with each other before the 41st millennium. They were, generally, pals during the glory days of the Great Crusade, for example. All the primarchs (apart from the two we don't talk about) were active during the foundational events of the Horus Heresy, which took place 10,000 years before the current setting. And we just got our first novel set during the era known as The Scouring, which saw the loyalist primarchs enact their revenge on the traitor legions in the aftermath of the Horus Heresy.
The question now is, how will this meeting between Lion El'Jonson and Roboute go? It’s hard to tell. Some fans are speculating the Lion will be a bit miffed at Roboute, who has alarmed more than a few inquisitive minds with his Indomitus Crusade. Others think (hope?) the brothers will join forces to help drive back the forces of Chaos and rekindle the glory days of the Imperium. Given this is Warhammer 40,000 and everything is… awful, I suspect that plenty will go wrong, no matter the Lion’s feelings about his brother.
And then there’s the speculation around the message itself: “Brother. We need to talk.” That doesn’t sound aggressive necessarily, but it does suggest a matter of some importance needs to be brought to Guilliman’s attention. What does the Lion know that his brother doesn’t? Does he carry a warning? Has he discovered some grand conspiracy about their father, the Emperor? Does he bring good news? Is another loyalist primarch about to return?
Arbitor Ian speculates that the Lion may be upset with Guilliman because he believes his brother to be trying to usurp the Emperor with all this Indomitus Crusade and Ultramarian Reclamation business (there’s a whole thing about Roboute potentially doing something similar during the Horus Heresy when it looked like Chaos might win). Alternatively, Arbitor Ian suggests the Lion will reveal some new threat that becomes central to the plot of the next Warhammer 40,000 campaign book, perhaps to do with would-be fifth Chaos god Vashtorr the Arkifane.
Whatever Games Workshop has up its sleeve, it looks like we’re set for some answers over the next few months. At least, that’s the hope. Fans have been waiting three years for the Lion and Guilliman to get together. If Games Workshop just sat on this tease for another few years, well… that would be very Games Workshop, wouldn’t it?
The Warhammer 40,000 story, such as it is, is a slow moving beast. The scribes at Games Workshop sometimes take years to inch the overarching plot forward. Tantalizing plot threads are left dangling, sometimes for decades. Answers remain frustratingly out of reach. Cliffhangers seem destined to hang in a perpetual state of anticipation, never to be fulfilled. Such is the nature of Games Workshop's grimdark 41st millennium, which has exploded in popularity over the last decade. At this point any news on how the story might actually move forward is analyzed to within an inch of its life, as if under investigation by the Inquisition itself.

I have read more than my fair share of LitRPG books, but Dungeon Crawler Carl has been a contender for my overall favorite series since I first picked up book one. In short, it's an ongoing story about a man and his sassy cat's descent into the madness of an apocalyptic space game show. The author, Matt Dinniman, has a writing style that perfectly blends outrageousness with intrigue, making it hard to put down once you start reading.
There are a total of seven Dungeon Crawler Carl books that have been published so far, with an eighth book set to release in May 2026. All of the books are available to read with a Kindle Unlimited subscription, and as of September 2025, hardcover copies of all seven books are available for purchase.
I've read all of the Dungeon Crawler Carl books via a Kindle Unlimited subscription, which is what I'd recommend if you want to save as much money as possible. All of the books are included with a subscription, so you can burn through the full series fairly quickly without having to buy each individual title. If you prefer reading actual physical books, however, you can also buy hardcover copies of all seven books. A Parade of Horribles, the upcoming eighth book in the series, will be getting a physical release at the same time it comes out on Kindle, so you won't have to wait to pick up a copy like you did with the previous entries.
Alternatively, if you're a fan of audiobooks, the Dungeon Crawler Carl Audible editions come highly recommended. Voice actor Jeff Hayes does an incredible job portraying all of the different characters Matt Dinniman features in his books. You can listen to the first book for free by signing up for an Audible subscription.
Matt Dinniman has stated that he expects to write 10 total entries in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. He indicated that this number may be flexible in a more recent interview, but this is the current plan. With an eighth book due out in May 2026, that leaves only two more books before the series comes to an end. In addition to the main series, there is also a graphic novel spin-off called Crocodile that's expected to arrive in March 2027 after a very successful crowd-funded campaign.
Outside of books and graphic novels, Dungeon Crawler Carl has been picked up by Universal International Studios and Seth McFarlane's Fuzzy Door to be adapted into a TV series. The Dungeon Crawler Carl TV series has not yet started development, so all we really know is that Chris Yost (known for Thor: Ragnarok and The Mandalorian) will be the one adapting the book.

If you're looking strictly for an e-reader, then you're best off sticking with a Kindle tablet, Apple iPad, or your smartphone.

GameStop is closing hundreds of stores just days into the new year as CEO Ryan Cohen aims to take home $35 billion in performance-based stock options.
Reports the gaming and pop-culture retailer would soon close stores started to emerge soon after 2026 began. Some shoppers were able to find and share signage warning their location would soon shut down, offering a 20% trade-in bonus (for a limited time) as compensation.

“This store is closed effective 1/8/26,” a different sign posted to Reddit January 2, 2026, says. “Thank you for being a loyal GameStop customer.”
Signs then instruct customers with game or memorabilia reservations to travel to new stores to pick up their purchases, but the sudden nature and wide reports left GameStop buyers with more questions than answers. With reports of what seemed to be dozens of store closures online, a blog that tracks GameStop activity using employee reports and the company’s store locator claims to have recorded 390 store closures (via Polygon). An additional 10 stores are still in the process of being confirmed to have shut down, which, if accurate, brings the total to 400 shuttered GameStop locations a little more than one week into the year.
It’s another hit to GameStop’s physical presence in the gaming market, with a December 2025 filing from the company noting it had ceased operations at 590 locations in the U.S. in fiscal 2024. Now, the once-titan known for giving “power to the players” seems to be keeping with its future plans, too, with the same document saying it anticipated “closing a significant number of additional stores in fiscal 2025.” For the last ten years, GameStop has closed more stores than it has opened in the U.S. each year, with closures often numbering in the hundreds.
Meanwhile, GameStop announced earlier this week that Cohen, who took over as CEO in September 2023, is up to receive a staggering $35 billion in performance-based stock options. For Cohen to receive the payout, the company’s board of directors states GameStop would need to reach a market capitalization of $100 billion and, before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, achieve $10 billion in cumulative performance. GameStop’s market cap currently sits at about $9.5 billion.
“The award is designed to incentivize Mr. Cohen to achieve extraordinary growth,” the announcement says.
GameStop has looked to new, bizarre ways to gain traction in recent years as it continues to double down on collectibles and memes. August 2023 saw the company pull out of crypto, moving to shutter its short-lived NFT marketplace just a few months later. More recently (and much to the dismay of its employees), it held its first-ever Trade Anything Day, which saw customers bringing in literally anything for trade-in credit at their local stores. Earlier this week, The New Zealand Herald reported that GameStop’s EB Games branch had made a proposal to close its remaining stores in New Zealand.

LEGO launched a series of book nooks back in June 2025, but none of them had received any sort of discount until now. Amazon is currently offering the first deal on the LEGO Balrog Book Nook set, dropping the price by 10% for a limited time. This 1,201-piece diorama set depicts Gandalf facing off against the Balrog and is specifically targeted at adult builders.
There are currently only four LEGO Lord of the Rings sets available to buy in 2026 and discounts on them are extremely rare. If you're looking for a good LotR gift, I'd definitely recommend grabbing this while the savings are still available.
With the 10% discount on Amazon right now, this is the lowest price we've ever seen on the Balrog Book Nook since it was first released. The build itself is made up of 1,201 pieces and features a Gandalf minifigure as well as the larger Balrog. Once put together, the book nook sits at 8.5 inches high and is meant to be placed in between books on your shelf. The completed set depicts the iconic "You shall not pass!" scene from The Fellowship of the Ring movie. Those precise words are featured on a little plaque piece that adorns the front of the set. This is notable because while Gandalf says that phrase in the film, he actually says "you cannot pass" in Tolkien's original books.
We actually had the chance to build this set when it was first released and loved the unorthodox brick connectivity and the overall design. Despite a rather unfortunate position of this set making headlines last year, it's an overall fun build that looks great on any collector's shelf.
If you're looking for something newer, LEGO has released a ton of new sets for January 2026. The list includes a new Back to the Future Delorean set, new Star Wars builds, and Stranger Things sets. You can also already preorder the first LEGO Star Wars bricks integrated with Smart Brick technology, but they don't release until March 2026.

It is configured with a 16" OLED display with 2.5K 189ppi resolution and 165Hz refresh rate, Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX CPU, 32GB of DDR5-5600MHz RAM, and 1TB SSD.
The RTX 5060 (mobile) is about 15%-20% more powerful than the RTX 4060 that it replaces and approaches the performance of the RTX 4070. It supports the newer DLSS 4 technology with multi-frame generation, which widens the performance gap in games that support it. It's a good GPU to pair with the 1600p display and should run most games at that resolution. With less demanding games like Fortnite, Minecraft, Roblox, Hades 2, or Silksong, you can expect very high framerates, but pulling off 60fps on Cyberpunk 2077 with require some tweaking in the settings.
Lenovo Legion gaming PCs and laptops generally feature better and more rugged build quality than what you'd find from most other mass produced brands. Lenovo generally does not throttle the GPU on any of its Legion models, which means you should expect maximum performance. Legion laptops are solidy built, with most models having either an aluminum lid or full metal chassis, include an OLED display option even on their budget models, and feature a great feeling keyboard. The current generation models are up to date with WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and Thunderbolt 4 ports as standard. Lenovo also offers excellent customer service; the warranty period is usually 1 year by default, but there's an option to extend it.
