Magic’s TMNT Preorders Crash to New Record Low Price on Amazon, Just Weeks After Its Last Big Discount

With Lorwyn Eclipsed now out, our attention will soon sharply be turning to the next Magic set of 2026, which is also the first "Universes Beyond" release of the year: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

And, if you’re already sold on meeting up with cardboard versions of the Heroes in a Half Shell, their friends, and their foes, then good news - Amazon is once again discounting booster boxes, which are now down to their lowest ever price, and even lower than a previous best we saw just a couple of weeks ago.

Now down to just $124.99, and containing 30 of your finest Play Boosters (each containing 14 cards), this is a certified $84.71 in savings compared to its original $209.70 list price. That's also just over $4 for each booster ($4.17, to be precise), which is more than a couple of bucks off what you’d usually pay when buying them individually.

In comparison, the market price for these is still sitting around $139, according to data at the trusted resale marketplace TCGplayer. While this will likely continue to drop (fallen 45.71% in the past three months), you're certainly ahead of the trend if you pick up the preorder at Amazon right now.

Also, just a heads up, as it's important for those looking to buy: Amazon doesn't charge until dispatch (so your card won't be charged until closer to release on March 6. Plus, the retailer also has a preorder price guarantee, so if it drops even further or somehow goes back up in price, you can be absolutely certain that you're paying the lowest price possible.

This is also even better than the deal we saw just before Christmas, and now even lower than the next best price at Amazon from earlier this month ($148.20). Although it does make you think, is the discount indicative of Wizards of the Coast’s expectations for the set? Let's hope not!

In December, the price dropped to $159.99, bringing the Universes Beyond box of Play Boosters to around the standard price of a Universes Within box, but dropping even further to just $125, this seems like a mighty good deal for what is already looking like a very popular set.

We saw similar drops for Spider-Man, which would be a little worrisome if Avatar hadn’t got the same treatment - and that set was great. For more on Magic: The Gathering, check out the wild ride that is the game’s 2026 set lineup, as well as our guide to buying the first set of the year, Lorwyn Eclipsed, which just launched, and already has some mighty impressive cards that are already racking up a tidy price on resale.

The Odyssey TV Trailer Reveals Travis Scott Speaking Role, Jon Bernthal, and More Tom Holland

A TV spot for The Odyssey aired during the New England Patriots vs Denver Broncos AFC Championship game over the weekend, and the short trailer revealed Travis Scott’s speaking role and a new look at Tom Holland as Telemachus, Odysseus' son.

The Odyssey, written and directed by Christopher Nolan and due out July 17, 2026, is based on Homer’s saga, and is described as “a mythic action epic” shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology.

The Odyssey's debut trailer, released last month, featured Matt Damon's Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca, saying that after years of war, nothing can stand between his men and home. We then see Spider-Man star Tom Holland as Telemachus, Odysseus's son who is determined to find his father. A concerned Anne Hathaway, as Penelope, the wife of Odysseus, looks on.

This new promo, which soon emerged on YouTube and social media platforms after it was broadcast, starts with Telemachus asking questions about his absent father amid a gathering of soldiers. Menelaus, the Greek king of Sparta and Agamemnon's brother played by Punisher actor Jon Bernthal, calls for a story of Odysseus' adventures. We then see Scott tell the tale of Odysseus infiltrating the city of Troy using the legendary Trojan Horse. Menelaus looks at Telemachus as Scott’s character stands on a table to recount the story in dramatic fashion.

“A man,” Scott says. “A trick. A trick to break the walls of Troy. It's burning, screaming to the ground.”

“Let’s go home,” Matt Damon’s Odysseus declares after victory.

We saw a glimpse at the Troy tale in the debut trailer (which sparked a debate about historical accuracy). Trojan soldiers drag the Trojan Horse from the sea. Inside, Damon and his soldiers hide, silently. One soldier, cut by a sword that pierces the horse, is forced to stay silent by his desperate comrades. Other scenes teased in the debut trailer include the Cyclops, who enters a cave filled with soldiers, and the undead rising from the ground itself.

It's worth noting that The Odyssey isn't the first time Scott and Nolan have worked together. The American rapper and singer-songwriter recorded The Plan for the sountrack to Nolan's time-bending 2020 movie, Tenet.

Last week, Damon discussed how tough it was filming The Odyssey, which he said had a “profound” effect on him. In an interview with Netflix to promote new movie The Rip, Damon said he was still “unpacking” the experience of filming The Odyssey, but admitted “it did have a profound effect on me.”

“If I look objectively at what was required to do that job, I think it came at just the right time in my life,” he revealed. “I think I would've been miserable 20 years ago trying to do that job. Because you were uncomfortable every day, but I really enjoyed… like, deeply enjoyed every minute of it.”

Earlier this month, Damon revealed he slimmed down to his high school weight for the role. "I had a beard like yours for like a year," he told Jason and Travis Kelce on a recent episode of their podcast, New Heights. "I was in really good shape. I lost a lot of weight. [Nolan] wanted me lean but strong."

He also noted that a specific change in diet helped him get there. "Just because of this other thing that I did with my doctor, I stopped eating gluten,” Damon explained. “I used to walk around at between 185 and 200, and I did that whole movie at 167. And I haven't been that light since high school. So it was a lot of training and a really strict diet."

The Ocean’s Eleven star also told the hosts how training so intensely for the role felt like playing a season of professional sports. "I imagine what that feels like for you guys, where you're preparing," Damon said to the Kelces. "It's just part of your day, it's part of your job, and you get really routinized about it and kinda build your day around all that stuff."

The Odyssey is Nolan's 13th film, after previously helming Following, Memento, Insomnia, The Prestige, Inception, Interstellar, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Dunkirk, Tenet, and Oppenheimer. Such is the anticipation for the movie, that a limited number of The Odyssey tickets went on sale last summer — a year in advance of the film opening.

While Nolan has long been celebrated as one of the great directors of modern cinema, The Odyssey is expected to perform particularly strongly following the breakout success of Oppenheimer, the Cillian Murphy-led biopic that fuelled one half of the Barbenheimer phenomenon. Oppenheimer earned a staggering $975 million during its theatrical run, and walked away with Best Picture at the Oscars.

Primal Season 3, Episode 3 Review

Full spoilers follow for Primal Season 3, Episode 3, “Feast of Flesh,” which is available on Adult Swim now and debuts on HBO Max on January 26.

The thing about Primal Season 3 so far is that it’s doing a slow burn, really taking its time getting zombie Spear to where he’s almost certainly going – to find his family, or at the very least to find out what happened to his family. So if you’re down with a contemplative eight or nine minutes featuring a thinking zombie playing with a flying cricket-esque bug, then you’re in luck. But if that’s not your cup of tea, well… don’t worry, because the slow burns have also been sure to include plenty of goopy, head-smashing violence as well, and you get that in the last 10 minutes of “Feast of Flesh.”

But come on, the extended opening sequence this week which finds Spear happening upon a beautiful turquoise and violet cricket is something to behold. For the most part, Primal has left behind the dinosaurs so far this season, but creator Genndy Tartakovsky and his team have given us plenty of more “modern,” I suppose, animal life, like the lions, antelope type critters and birds from last week. And here the gentle animation of this little insect just munching out on a leaf while Spear watches it in amazement is, well, amazing.

Of course, Spear keeps getting those flashes to his past, which have become clear at this point to be of Fang, his old dino friend. But what is it in this cricket that has him so fascinated? Is it the bug’s color scheme, which partially matches Fang’s? Is it the memory of a wild beast fending for itself in the forest? Or does he feel an aching, a longing for the friendship he once had with such a creature?

The score by Tyler Bates and Joanne Higginbottom this week highlights the more whimsical nature of Spear’s frolicking with the cricket, whether he’s chasing it through the brush, finding that it’s landed on his arm and is staring directly at him, or realizing that it’s crawling onto his head (brain). By the time he saves the bug from being eaten by a reptile, we’re fully invested in this thing – and its connection to Spear. It’s a cute little guy, as is the entire segment, and it all serves to create a bond between the two… or at least we the viewer form a bond between Spear and the cricket in our minds. And certainly Spear feels it as well… Does the cricket, though? It’s hard to say.

The extended opening sequence this week which finds Spear happening upon a beautiful turquoise and violet cricket is something to behold.

As mentioned, the second half of “Feat of Flesh” does become more of an action-palooza, as Spear finds himself captured by – let’s face it – some hateful little flesh-eating monsters. They’re small, but there’s a ton of them, and by the time Spear awakens after being knocked unconscious (which apparently is a thing that can happen to a zombie of his variety), he’s been strung up upside down and had all the flesh eaten off of his right hand and half his arm. He’s also surrounded by the dangling skeletons of these creatures’ past victims.

Not surprisingly, his savior arrives in the form of his cricket friend. It’s funny how the insect first shows up unseen, doing its chirping thing; anyone who’s had a cricket get into their house knows how the flesh-eaters must feel in that moment. But soon enough the cricket takes to annoying the little mutants as it buzzes around them, giving Spear the chance to escape from his trap.

At this point, Primal could have gone one of two ways. Spear and the cricket defeat the mutants together and escape the cave, or the cricket gets smooshed and Spear takes his revenge. I gasped when the latter happened, even if I should’ve known it was inevitable. The look on Spear’s face when he sees his dead friend, and the animation of the thing in its death throes as its little legs twitch for their final time, is heartbreaking. Dammit, Primal made me fall in love with a bug.

The carnage that follows is gratifying, though also interesting in how it’s depicted as Spear seems to slip into a sort of dissociative state as he punctures each and every last one of those things’ skulls.

And then he buries his little friend.

So what did this experience mean for Spear’s larger journey? For one thing, he seems to be thinking more and more clearly now. This time, unlike last week, he actually takes that spear with him at episode’s end. He’s also put on some clothes – not that he had a choice – and he’s obviously feeling strong emotions again. Don’t tell me having a funeral for a bug doesn’t mean the guy feels emotion!

And as for the cricket itself… was that the same one Spear had spent all that time hanging out with, or just one of the many of its type that he stumbles upon at episode’s end? I suppose the answer is… it doesn’t matter, because that bug’s sacrifice strengthened Spear’s resolve to find Fang more than ever.

Questions and Notes From Anachronistic History

  • It’s funny when Spear falls into the underground cave and is looking around, knowing something bad is up, only to suddenly realize one of those little buggers is already munching away on his leg!
  • Regarding those little flesh-eaters in this episode: I hesitate to call any of the creatures in Primal monsters without giving them their fair due – these guys need to eat and survive like anyone else, after all – but I can’t help it. I hate them and they got what they deserved.
  • So Spear now has his spear again as well as a second weapon – the sharp claws of his bony hand.
  • Spear’s a freaking mess with the arm and the exposed brain and the liver (kidney?) falling out and all. This guy needs to get un-zombified stat.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Season 1, Episode 2 Review

This review contains full spoilers for this week’s episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Titled “Hard Salt Beef,” this week’s episode begins with Dunk’s quest to find a noble lord who can vouch for his dead master, the hilariously well-endowed Ser Arlan of Pennytree, so that he can participate in the Ashford tourney. The problem? No one remembers Ser Arlan.

Even after Dunk succeeds in finding someone who does – Prince Baelor "Breakspear" Targaryen (Bertie Carvel), a Targaryen who is actually a nice guy?! – it’s not until he sees the knights of the Great Houses clash at the tourney (which has big NASCAR and WWE vibes) that Dunk realizes he’s romanticized Ser Arlan, admitting to his squire Egg: “Do great knights live in the hedges and die by the side of a muddy road?”

The thrust of this episode is Dunk’s growing disenchantment with knighthood. The knights he’s encountered so far at Ashford have mostly been entitled and abusive jerks, not the chivalrous warriors of legend. At first the prospect of a member of the Small Folk like Dunk rising above his station seems possible, especially after meeting Ser Donnel of Duskendale; surely, if the son of a crabber can become a great knight, then why not Dunk? After Egg reveals that Ser Donnel isn’t some working class hero but a member of a prosperous and powerful merchant family, it’s the beginning of the end of Dunk’s pipe dream. “What chance do I have, truly?”

The knights’ casual dismissal of Ser Arlan isn’t just about them brushing off the deeds of a hedge knight, but a rejection of the values Dunk believes a knight should stand for. This gap between the ideal and the reality of knighthood appears to be putting Dunk on a collision course with the very men whose ranks he seeks to join. In the end, Dunk is so upset that none of the knights (except Baelor) remembered his mentor and father figure – he calls himself Ser Arlan’s “legacy” – that he vows to use the Ashford tourney to “show them what his hand has wrought.” If he can’t join ’em, he’ll beat ’em…or so he hopes.

The knights aren’t the only people Dunk encounters in this episode who are nasty to him, with everyone from a stable boy to Lady Gwin demeaning him (“You’re big and stupid!”). People have called Dunk dumb his whole life, as he recalls to Egg, but, well, he is a big dope. That’s part of Dunk’s charm; he’s simple yet sweet, and is especially good to horses. He has a kind heart, and credits Ser Arlan with raising him to know what’s right.

As he peels back the layers of his seemingly simple-minded hero, Peter Claffey continues to impress as the lovable doofus Dunk, while Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg smartly plays his cards close to the vest as a squire who behaves like he has something to hide. Their banter is among the highlights of this episode, particularly Egg’s response to Dunk’s observation that he’s always been called stupid. It was also sweet to see how Egg helped Dunk when he was struggling to articulate what sigil he wants the puppeteer Tanselle to paint on his shield.

Speaking of Egg, it’s curious how fast he hightailed it back to camp once he spotted the Targaryens riding into town, not to mention that he knows more about knights and the Great Houses of Westeros than a kid his age probably should…

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Nintendo Direct: Everything Announced

Nintendo has revealed a new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie during this weekend's surprise Nintendo Direct, showing off Yoshi and several other classic characters making their big screen debut.

Hosted by the legendary creator of Mario, Shigeru Miyamoto, the short presentation began quickly with an extended look at Mario and Luigi motorbiking over the desert, as seen in the movie's previous trailer. The duo head to a location familiar to anyone who's played Super Mario Odyssey, an inverted pyramid in the Sand Kingdom.

Tasked with unblocking a rogue Warp Pipe, Mario and Luigi power up with Fire Flowers and head into the darkness. As Mario's infamous underground music plays, the brothers reach the blocked pipe which has something inside... It's Yoshi! Who talks!

Yoshi gets a full reveal

Rather than the tough-looking enemy the brothers were expecting to find, Yoshi is shown to be initially fearful of Mario and Luigi, though later shots in the trailer make clear that the diminuitive dino quickly becomes part of the gang.

If you've watched the previous Super Mario Bros. Movie, you'll know that Yoshi's appearance had been expected following that film's post-credits scene, which featured a green Yoshi egg beginning to crack open. Today's trailer also gives us our first sense of how Yoshi will sound, as he is able to mumble a few words as well as his calling out his name.

The trailer then continues with a montage of shots featuring Mario and Peach infiltrating a lava-filled area that looks like a Bowser's Castle level. We also see a Toad gobbled up by an enormous Cheep Cheep, who is saved by Luigi wearing the classic Frog Suit Power-Up.

Here's Yoshi, as seen in new artwork for the movie:

Birdo, Mouser and Lakitu confirmed

Another quick montage of shots gives us our first look at Birdo, who is shown angrily firing eggs at Peach. The princess shields herself using her parasol, and for a split second we see Mouser, a real deep cut character that players of Super Mario Bros. 2 will recognize as a rodent boss from the game.

Whatever's going on here, it makes sense that we see Birdo and Mouser together in the same sequence — as both appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2, set in the world of Subcon. Has Peach been given her own sidequest to complete here, early in the film, while Mario and Luigi are off in the Sand Kingdom?

The next clip also shows our first look at Lakitu on the big screen, who fires projectiles at Mario, Luigi and Yoshi.

Baby Luigi and Baby Mario are back

The trailer concludes with Yoshi clutching a gun that looks similar to the SNES Super Scope, while Toad holds Baby Luigi and Baby Mario. What is going on here? The group is shown to be facing off against a T-Rex, who looks straight out of Super Mario Odyssey.

Today's Nintendo Direct wrapped up with a quick recap of Yoshi's history throughout Nintendo games of the past, and a check-in with Chris Meledandri, boss of animation studio Illumination. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie's animation work is now fully completed, Meledandri revealed, and the film is now in post-production.

As work on the movie's sound and music continues, themes from the Super Mario Galaxy games are being re-recorded for the film's soundtrack, using a 70-piece orchestra.

No new voice actors confirmed

Intriguingly, Nintendo did not name the actor providing Yoshi's vocals — or any new additions to the film's voice cast.

Rosalina and Bowser Jr. also sit this trailer out completely, after being the focus back in November, during the movie's previous dedicated Nintendo Direct that revealed Rosalina and confirmed the space princess would be voiced by Marvel star Brie Larson. The same trailer also announced that Bowser Jr. would be voiced by Benny Safdie.

Safdie and Larson are joined by all of the same major cast members back from the first movie: Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Previously, we heard word that the movie will feature some Nintendo characters that "are really deep cuts", and fans have speculated that its plot may finally confirm a long-held theory around Peach and Rosalina's origins.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will now land in theaters on April 1, two days' earlier than first announced, to align with other international releases.

Dragon Ball 40th Anniversary Event: Everything Announced

2025 marks 40 years since Akira Toriyama’s ground-breaking Dragon Ball manga first hit shelves in Japan. The Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri was held in Japan over the weekend to celebrate the global manga, anime and video game phenomenon. Taking up the huge Makuhari Messe event space near Tokyo, the event featured everything from exclusive merch, live game contests, and specially-curated exhibits of original artwork. The main stage was packed with exciting announcements about where the series is headed after the death of series creator Akira Toriyama, including two new anime TV series, a new game and a “massive” new DLC for Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero.

Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol Anime

The event kicked off with a brief talk between Son Goku’s Japanese VA Masako Nozawa and Dragon Ball series executive producer Akio Iyoku, followed by the premiere of a special video marking the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball. Featuring music specially composed by Hans Zimmer, the film celebrates the evolution of Dragon Ball over the years, from Toriyama’s original manga drawings through to its various anime adaptations. The end of the video revealed a brand new anime series, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, prompting excited clapping from the audience.

Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol will adapt the Moro or Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc (Chapters 42 to 67) of the Dragon Ball Super manga. It follows on from the Universe Survival Arc of the Dragon Ball Super anime, which aired between 2015 to 2018. Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol is currently in production, and fans will have to wait until 2027 to see Son Goku and Vegeta battle it out against Moro.

Age 1000 Game Project

Next, Iyoku was joined on stage by Dragon Ball Games producer Masayuki Hirano, who revealed a flashy trailer for a brand new game project, Age 1000. However, the game’s official title will be announced later.

The Age 1000 project is good news for fans who thought they would never see any new creations from Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama after his death in 2024. Apparently, Bandai Namco started developing Age 1000 around seven years ago, and Toriyama himself put a lot of work into the game’s worldbuilding and brand new characters. The trailer shows a mysterious grey-haired young man decked out in Capsule Corp gear, with Hirano revealing that “I asked Toriyama sensei to create this character especially for the game.” Although the new character seems like a new Super Saiyan, Hirano was tight-lipped about who he is. However, fans will have to wait for Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 (to be held on April 18-19 in LA) for further details.

The project’s name calls to mind Dragon Ball Online, which took place in the age 1000- so it seems the new game will also be exploring this time period. “We have spent a long time carefully crafting this project.” Iyoku explained. “I think this game will allow us to experience a brand new part of the Dragon Ball world.” Age 1000 is slated for a 2027 release.

Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO to get “massive” new DLC

Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero producer Jun Furutani revealed that the fighting game will be getting a “massive” new DLC this summer. The trailer for the DLC teased even more playable characters (including Super Android 17 and Demon King Piccolo), new costumes, new super attacks for Vegeta and Goku, as well as new stages and modes.

The upcoming DLC will also have its own theme song, Zero, sung by series veteran Hironobu Kageyama- who is known for his many Dragon Ball Z theme songs. Kageyama performed the new song, saying he was honored to contribute to Dragon Ball again after 18 years. With Zero, he aimed to create a cheerful and powerful song that will energize anyone who hears it.

For those who can’t wait, producer Furutani also reminded PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam players that Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero is getting a free DLC on January 26, the Mission 100 single player mode (which longtime fans will remember from Dragon Ball Budokai Tenakichi 3). He announced that Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions of the game will be getting the DLC at a later date: “please bear with us a little longer.”

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Anime

After lunch, Dragon Ball series executive producer Akio Iyoku and Son Goku VA Masako Nozawa returned to the stage alongside VA Koichi Yamadera for another new anime series announcement. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, a remake of Dragon Ball Super’s first arc, is coming in Fall 2026.

Iyoku describes Dragon Ball Super: Beerus as an “enhanced version of the story.” The upcoming anime series is designed to be “more faithful to the original manga” created by Akira Toriyama. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will feature enhanced visuals, redrawn and newly added cuts, narrative reworks, and promises to deliver “even more immersive battle scenes” than the original Dragon Ball Super anime.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus also aims to show Beerus in a more serious light than the mischievous villain people are used to. “Beerus is a powerful enemy and a powerful character, so I wanted to make sure to bring that out this time.” Iyoku explained. Beerus’s voice actor Yamadera added, “You think he (Beerus) is just a weird uncle talking about food (…) but he’s actually the God of Destruction!”

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be airing on Japan’s Fuji TV in Fall 2026, with details about international distribution expected to be announced soon. For now, check out the trailer, below.
