Samsung’s Gaming Monitors and TVs Finally Get G-Sync

Samsung has added Nvidia G-Sync support to its 2026 OLED TVs and gaming monitors, the company announced over the weekend. In addition, a couple of TVs – the S95H and S90H – will also come with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro.

Both of these VRR technologies aim to smooth out your gaming experience by preventing things like one part of an image moving ahead of another part, aka screen-tearing. In the past, Samsung displays have instead relied on its own version variable refresh rate, or VRR.

Besides the high end S95H and S90H, Samsung says it'll make the midrange S85H G-Sync Compatible, too. Over in gaming monitor land, the company named the new 27-inch Odyssey G6 – its absurdly high-refresh-rate 1,040Hz model – and its 240Hz refresh 27-inch Odyssey G6 sibling. (We love confusing lineup naming, don't we? Those are the G60H and G61SH, respectively). Equipped with G-Sync Compatible screens, Samsung's gaming displays could fare a little better when compared to some of the best gaming displays; the company has struggled to outperform the likes of Dell or Asus, at least by our estimation. It has done better in the OLED arena, though – the Odyssey G9 is, after all, our favorite OLED widescreen gaming display.

Besides G-Sync and FreeSync, Samsung's OLEDs this year will also get support for HDR10+ Advanced, which the company previewed late last year. That's the fancy-pants HDR standard meant to fix the soap opera effect, or the unnaturally fluid movement you see on your parents' TV when you go home for the holidays every year (I know you've been surreptitiously turning that off every chance you get, you sneaky old so-and-so).

'I Think It Might Be a Big Win for Independent Filmmaking' – Markiplier Cries While Thanking Fans for Supporting His Iron Lung Movie

Mark “Markiplier” Fischbach shared an emotional moment with fans after his new movie, Iron Lung, managed to win big at the box office over the weekend.

The YouTube star took to a livestream in the wake of the theatrical premiere of his debut feature film to speak about its success and clear up any confusion about how it compared to competing films. He starts the 25-minute video crying as he speaks about the response he’s received so far.

“Man, it’s been a bit of an emotional day. I’m not gonna lie. It’s been a bit of an emotional day in a good way, in the best way possible,” Markiplier, fighting back tears, said during the Sunday broadcast. “Everything good. Everything’s fine. I don’t even know where to start. OK, so I’ll first say… man, just thank you, guys. Just thank you, guys, so much, because it’s been a really special day.”

What starts with Markiplier’s reaction to a positive review from fellow content creator Hbomberguy then turns into a moment reflecting on his mark on independent filmmaking. Iron Lung premiered alongside Sam Raimi and Disney’s R-rated Send Help, but both films spent the weekend neck-and-neck for the number one spot.

Although Send Help will continue its run while Iron Lung drops out of the box office race (and most theaters), the $21.5 million the film has made globally means it more than made up for its reported $3 million budget. It also means Markiplier is going to be able to “give the crew a big bonus.”

And maybe if it could open up the door for other people to do their projects independently, and know there could be success in it, I think that would be pretty cool. I think that might actually be really cool.

“I had a conversation today with a fan, and it was a perfectly normal conversation,” he said through tears. “They mentioned that they were a film student, and they said how cool it was that this was done independently, and that this was really kind of an inspiration for people that wanted to get into making movies, that it was even possible.”

When Markiplier told the film student that he had “some conversations going” about bringing a studio in to help with distribution, they replied, “please don’t because it’s really cool and kind of a hero moment to showcase that indie filmmaking was possible.” After going back home shortly after, he received an email stating that Send Help was “closing the gap” and only $300,000 away.

“I’m almost hesitant to ask this, but I think it might be a big win for independent filmmaking,” Markiplier added, calling on fans to see Iron Lung before it left local cinemas. “It’s not to shutout Sam Raimi. It’s kinda to shutout Disney for winning 10 weeks in a row – maybe they could only win nine weeks in a row and the one weekend that Iron Lung is here, it could, you know… I think that might be pretty cool.”

He continued: “And maybe if I could inspire someone to keep making films, that would be pretty cool. And maybe if it could open up the door for other people to do their projects independently, and know there could be success in it, I think that would be pretty cool. I think that might actually be really cool.”

Markiplier wrote, directed, self-financed, distributed, and starred in Iron Lung. It’s a live-action adaptation of the 2022 independent horror game of the same name and follows a man trapped inside an iron submarine in an ocean of blood. We gave it a 4/10 in our review.

Magic: The Gathering's Newest Product Says the Quiet Part Out Loud

This morning Wizards of the Coast put a new Magic: The Gathering product up for sale with an unexpected twist. The “Prints Charming” Secret Lair drop contains four reprinted cards with pretty excellent new art – but rather than simply telling us how much it costs, it was given five different non-foil store listings and five more for the foil version, each with a different price ranging from $10 all the way up to $50. The product description on all of them is careful to point out the following: “The only difference between listings is the price. Higher-priced listings do not include anything extra.”

This, by my estimation as someone who has been playing Magic since the 90s and literally wrote the announcement for the very first Secret Lair, is pretty lame. Taken graciously, it’s a goofy marketing stunt meant to do something silly and get folk talking about it, but it nevertheless leaves those who arrived too late with a very sour taste in their mouth. A more pessimistic reading would be that WOTC is price testing what people are willing to pay for a Secret Lair drop in broad daylight, shedding even the thinnest veneer that may be hiding the capitalist hunger a lawsuit recently alleged is designed specifically to hide shortfalls in other parts of Hasbro’s business.

The reaction amongst the Magic community has been muddled. Some were confused. Some very generously assumed the higher price points were to bait automated scalper bots into spending more while real people could snag a more affordable version – an argument that doesn’t exactly hold water when you consider that they could just make them all cheaper if that was the desire. And some were just angry, either because the cheapest versions sold out so fast, or because they similarly see this as bold-faced market research in cardboard form.

I actually really love the idea of Wizards of the Coast’s Secret Lair line overall. Directly selling small drops of thematically linked cards with cool and unique art treatments is quite fun, and often comes at little-to-no cost for those who just want to ignore it. Being able to give Kratos or Aloy their own cards without the production lift a larger product would require is a neat tool in WOTC’s toolbelt. The “Chaos Vault” moniker this latest one was released under intentionally pushes the envelope even further with weird, off-schedule ideas and one-offs that are explicitly meant to experiment. I dig that!

But that does not mean Secret Lair is free from criticism. Most pressing here, folk (myself included) were already displeased by WOTC’s 2024 decision to move these drops from a “print to demand” model to one with limited and undisclosed quantities. The former system meant anyone who wanted a certain drop could get it within a specific timeframe, while the latter has historically meant you need to get in line right when a popular drop arrives in order to have a chance at purchasing it – something you can’t do if you, say, have work or school at the same time.

Regardless of intent, the result is a majority of players feeling like they were the ones left holding the bag.

So, given there is already anxiety around the availability of Secret Lairs, one that got almost no pre-promotion offering an early bird discount (alongside the option to pay WOTC more money) is understandably frustrating. It’s the sort of thing that independent creators admittedly do with their products from time to time without drawing any ire, rewarding their most dedicated fans while also providing a way to support them even further for those who want to. But for a multibillion-dollar corporation to do it is not endearing in the same way – it comes across more like profit analysis wearing a sign around its neck that reads “it’s just a prank, bro.”

Much to my dismay, both the lowest and highest priced versions of Prints Charming sold out the quickest, either lending some credence to the “ha ha stupid bots” theory or offering evidence that “speaking with your wallet” is and will always be a doomed suggestion. The standard Secret Lair pricing of $30 for non-foil and $40 for foil lasted much longer than the others, so it seems likely the “stock” for those versions was intentionally the largest of all the options. But even if that does make this one big stunt, or even a cute way to subsidize a few discounted drops through folk who are willing to spend a little more, the ultimate result is still that a majority of players feel like they are the ones left holding the proverbial bag.

I don’t know, maybe I am yelling at the clouds. The card-selling company is experimenting with how much money it can sell its cards for. This should not be a shock, nor am I surprised to see Prints Charming sell out within hours (the art is really excellent, even if its total reprint value of around $5 is not). But the quiet part is being said louder than usual here. The teacher has handed us a test, and I fear what the results will be. The theme of this drop is cards that speed up your green resource production, and if that’s not as on the nose as naming your giant evil space station the Death Star, I don’t know what is.

Primal Season 3, Episode 4 Review

Full spoilers follow for Primal Season 3, Episode 4, “Prey for the Wicked,” which is available on Adult Swim and HBO Max now.

Wow, I didn’t see this coming so soon. Fang is back! And so are her babies and Mira, all of whom we last saw in the Primal Season 2 finale back in 2022. Not only has our favorite T. rex returned, but by the end of this episode she’s been reunited with Spear… or what’s left of him, anyway.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. The first three episodes of this season have taken their time just getting us acquainted with the zombie version of Spear, and while it was clear that our undead hero was looking for his lost family – and specifically for Fang – even if he wasn’t entirely conscious of it, it didn’t seem like series creator Genndy Tartakovsky was in any rush to reunite them. Yes, Tartakovsky hinted that the beautiful girl would return eventually, and a trailer gave us a glimpse of her too, but so far Primal Season 3 has very much been centered on zombie Spear, so much so that it wasn’t even clear how much time had passed since his death – er, “death” – in the Season 2 finale.

So I was a bit surprised to find that this episode opens with a flashback, and not just any flashback, but one to Spear’s funeral. How heartbreaking is it when, among the array of villagers mourning Spear, we see Mira intensely dancing in her grief? And even more touching, there’s Fang off in the distance, watching the ceremony with her babes. She might not fully understand the nature of the funeral, but she knows well enough what it means.

Months later, Fang and her (growing) offspring are living harmoniously with Mira’s people, though when a child playfully winds up straddling one of the little dinos and raises a spear a la Spear, Fang reacts badly to the sight. But it’s in this moment that she realizes that Mira is pregnant with Spear’s child, and damn if we don’t have our second tears-worthy moment in the episode as Fang starts digging a nest for Mira.

Of course, Mira and Fang are both heartbroken over the loss of Spear, and they’ve formed a close bond in the months since his death. As usual, Tartakovsky and his team of artists convey these emotions wordlessly, if not silently – never underestimate how many different meanings a growl from Fang can carry. The scenes between the two also raise the question of how exactly Mira and Fang will react when they meet the zombie version of Spear.

But first, there’s this week’s action, which involves a swarm of hateful hog-like creatures that invade Mira’s village. That they don’t straight-up kill their prey, but instead take them back to their even more horrible queen hog-like creature so that she can feast on the villagers while she nurses her giant baby-hog things… well, it’s all just a reminder of the bloody cycle of life that permeates the world of Primal.

One of the themes of Primal has always been that friendship and love are stronger than any, well, primal instincts to survive.

But one of the themes of Primal has always been that friendship and love are stronger than any, well, primal instincts to survive. What purpose was left in Spear’s life, or Fang’s, after they lost their original families if they hadn’t found each other? So when Fang’s offspring make it clear that they want to be part of the search party that will attempt to rescue the missing villagers because they want to save their little human friend, you can basically see that very notion written on Mira’s face. This is what it’s all about.

So while it seemed at the start of this season as if Spear’s revival as a zombie could’ve taken place years – or many years – after his death, possibly even after the epilogue of Season 2’s finale when we met Mira and Spear’s young daughter, we now know that it’s only been a matter of months. And beyond the question of what will happen next, now that this unlikely family is finally reunited, there’s also the matter of where – and what condition – Spear will be in by the time that Season 2 epilogue comes to pass years from now. The way the scene played, Spear was gone from their lives. So now we must ask ourselves: Will Fang and Mira lose him again?

Questions and Notes From Anachronistic History

  • Man, I missed Fang. Even just the way she sleeps is so cool.
  • Primal’s third season has been pretty heavy so far, and while this episode is full of emotion, action, and gore, it’s also got several welcome lightweight moments, mostly courtesy of Fang’s li'l ones and the kid from Mira’s tribe who’s always getting into trouble.
  • It’s great seeing the dino pups get some chomping action themselves against the pig creatures.
  • And speaking of those two, they really need names at this point…
  • I confess to being a little bit confused about how the old shaman from the season opener who revived Spear could’ve seen his people slaughtered prior to that episode without Mira and her crew knowing about it. No cell phones, I guess.
  • Cool effect when Mira’s fellow warrior snuffs out the campfire so that they can see better in the dark, with the scene then changing from mostly blacks to shades of blue.
  • What was that ritual those two village people performed on the old shaman’s staff? Hmmm…

Which Brandon Sanderson Books Should You Read Before The Cosmere Comes to Apple TV?

Cosmere fans, rejoice! At long last, Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere universe will be officially coming to both big and small screens courtesy of Apple TV. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the deal will adapt his most popular Mistborn (Era 1) and Stormlight Archive book series into film and television series, respectively, with Sanderson himself set to “write, produce, and consult” on the projects.

As a big fan of Brandon Sanderson and his works, (check out my reviews of both the Cosmere TTRPG and Mistborn deck building card game), I thought I would put together a short little helper guide for any of you out there that want to get a jump on the stories and characters that will soon be jumping out of your screens.

If once you finish these books and find yourself chomping at the bit for more, check out our full reading guide on The Cosmere to figure out where to go next!

Mistborn - Era 1

Mistborn and its metal-burning allomancers will be the first of the Cosmere works to coin-push their way from the pages and onto the screen in the form of films. Along with the Stormlight Archive’s world of Roshar, Mistborn’s Scadriel forms what could be considered the backbone of the entire universe-spanning story that Sanderson has been weaving together for the past two decades. The world of Scadrial is told over the course of multiple Eras, with only the first set of books, referred to as “Era 1” being the focus of the first film.

Mistborn (Era 1) follows Vin, a thief with the ability to use Allomancy, Scadrial’s special type of magic, which allows a person to burn specific metals for various effects. We don’t know just yet if Apple and Brandon will attempt to condense into a single film the entire Vin saga (I highly doubt it), but here is what you should check out beforehand.

The Books

Besides being perhaps the best jumping-in point for the whole Cosmere, Mistborn Era 1 consists of three main books, starting with Mistborn: The Final Empire. These should all be read in order, but they will provide a great idea of the sort of quality and creative magic systems you can expect in the rest of the Cosmere.

  1. Mistborn: The Final Empire
  2. The Well of Ascension
  3. The Hero of Ages

Other stuff:

While we have no idea just what will be covered in the film (Brandon has said that he is taking the next six months to work on its screenplay), there is a good bit of supplemental material focused around Mistborn you can enjoy as well. It’s advised to read them only after completing the trilogy. There is also a really fun deck-building card game, Mistborn: The Deck-Building Game, that lets you and your friends fight against the antagonist of the books or against each other, which has an expansion releasing this year.

  • The Eleventh Metal (Arcanum Unbounded)
  • Mistborn: Secret History (Arcanum Unbounded - READ AFTER HERO OF AGES)
  • Mistborn: The Deck-building game

The Stormlight Archive

Szeth-son-son-Vallano, Truthless of Shinovar, wore white on the day he was to kill a king. Taking place on the world of Roshar, readers are dropped into the middle of a decades-long war between the Parshendi who inhabit the Shattered Plains and the Alethi from the kingdom of Alethkar.. A powerful storm known as the Everstorm endlessly circles the planet, bringing with it precious Stormlight which powers the magic and devices of the land. With immortal champions known as the Heralds holding back the tide of evil from engulfing their world, this world and its champions and the heroes who rise up may just turn out to be some of the most important people in all of The Cosmere.

The Stormlight Archive is what the television series will be based off of, but to what extent remains a mystery still. As someone who has read the books, it’s hard to imagine that each book will only be a single season, but regardless of what is decided, here are the books you will want to read to make sure you’re ready when the show is released!

The Books

The Stormlight Archive is Sanderson’s giant epic fantasy series and will be the focus of the television series in the deal made with Apple. The fifth book, and conclusion to the first arc of the Stormlight Archive, released in December of 2024 with the sixth book not expected until 2031 (seriously). With most of the books surpassing 1000 pages, tackling these books is a quest in itself, and much like Mistborn, they should be read sequentially.

  1. The Way of Kings
  2. Words of Radiance
  3. Oathbringer
  4. Rhythm of War
  5. Wind and Truth

Other stuff:

Much like Mistborn, Brandon has written small short stories and novellas that further flesh out Roshar and some of the characters within the Stormlight Archive. As the first one, Edgedancer, doesn’t take place until between the second and third books, it will probably be quite some time yet before their influence or details are incorporated into the show. Regardless, for Cosmere fans, these are still great reads and are worth your time.

  • Edgedancer (Found inside the Arcanum Unbounded collection)
  • Dawnshard (Novella)

How to Watch One Piece in Order

One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a boy with a body that responds like rubber thanks to eating Devil Fruit, on his quest to become the next Pirate King by finding the ultimate treasure of legendary Pirate, Gold Roger. Based on Eiichiro Oda's best-selling manga series, One Piece is full of epic battles and a highly entertaining and eclectic ensemble of characters known as the Straw Hat Pirates.

With over 1,000 episodes across over 20 seasons (divided into 10 sagas with 52 different story arcs), specials, OVAs and shorts, it can be difficult to decide when and where to put the One Piece movies into your (re)watch list. Whether you’re new to the world of One Piece or settling in for an epic movie rewatch alongside the live-action series, we’ve got you covered.

Take a look at our One Piece timeline guide for what order you should watch the One Piece movies and episodes in.

Jump To:

How Many One Piece Movies Are There?

There are currently 15 feature length One Piece movies you can watch alongside the anime series. The movie stories are not connected to the series, and therefore aren’t canon. But the stories are built around canon characters and offer an opportunity to learn more about the world of the Straw Hat Pirates.

While the original One Piece movies are a little hard to track down online, more recent One Piece movies are available to stream on Crunchyroll and also have Blu-ray releases.

Where to Stream One Piece

If you want to start the true binge (don't be intimidated by that episode number, it's worth it), the One Piece anime is available to stream on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix. The live-action One Piece show is streaming exclusively on Netflix.

The One Piece Series In Chronological Order

To avoid confusion or early introduction to canon characters, we recommend watching the One Piece movies alongside the anime series and its corresponding episodes in the expansive franchise.

1. One Piece: The Movie (watch after episode 18)

The Straw Hat Pirates find themselves pitted against the ruthless pirate Eldoraggo after an encounter with a trio of thieves. The Straw Hat Pirates must thwart Eldoraggo on his hunt for the treasure of a legendary captain and secure the hoard of gold for themselves. One Piece: The Movie falls in between the Syrup Village arc and the Baratie arc of the East Blue Saga. It offers a good, if visually nostalgic, world overview by showcasing the early days of the crew as they embark on a treasure hunt.

2. One Piece: Clockwork Island Adventure (watch after episode 53)

The Straw Hat Pirates join forces with the Thief Brothers in order to recover their stolen ship, Going Merry and weapons from bandits. The crew and their allies must go to war against the pirate clan reigning over the Clockwork Island, in order to stop their leader from acquiring a superweapon and forcing their crew mate Nami into marriage. One Piece: Clockwork Island Adventure falls after the second half of the Loguetown arc of the East Blue Saga. While this may be a standalone story it's a fun must-watch adventure about a vacation gone awry.

3. One Piece: Chopper’s Kingdom on the Island of Strange Animals (watch after episode 102)

Stories about a great treasure lure the Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates to the wilderness of Crown Island where the crew encounters intelligent animals. While separate from the rest of the Straw Hats, the crew’s doctor Tony Tony Chopper triggers a prophecy and ends up crowned the island's lord and protector, the King of Beasts. Despite a few interesting fight scenes, Chopper’s Kingdom is an extremely skippable filler film. But if you’re a completionist, One Piece: Chopper’s Kingdom on the Island of Strange Animals falls after episode 102 of the Arabasta Arc: in the Arabasta Saga.

4. One Piece: Dead End Adventure (watch after episode 138)

The Straw Hat Pirates need cash so they enter an underground race between pirates known as the Dead End Competition. The crew finds themselves pitted against a vice-admiral with his own powers and his formidable bounty hunter sidekick. Dead End Adventure is the first full-length feature and offers a fantastic adventure newbies and diehards can enjoy. This movie can be watched at any point after episode 130 but we think it falls in line best after episode 138 in the Goat Island arc of the Sky Island Saga.

5. One Piece: The Cursed Holy Sword (watch after episode 143)

The Cursed Holy Sword centers on Zoro, the crew’s swordsman. While on the island of Asuka, the Straw Hat Pirates learn about a legendary cursed sword the Shichiseiken. The crew’s quickly swept up in the shenanigans of marines intent on freeing the sword. Zoro’s joined their ranks and the rest of the crew must unravel his reasons and figure out what’s going on. This film is a chaotic mess that doesn’t fully come together and is pretty much a miss unless you’re just dying to know more about Zoro. The Cursed Holy Sword falls in line best after episode 14 of the Ruluka Island arc in the Sky Island Saga.

6. One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island (watch after episode 224)

Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island, the sixth movie in the franchise, see the Straw Hat Pirates interrupt their journey to Grand Line for a pit stop on a recreation island to relax. Upon arrival the leader of the island, Baron Omatsuri, welcomes them and gives them seven challenges to achieve greater relaxation. The remainder of the movie is unraveling the mystery lurking beneath the surface of this seemingly happy community. Without giving anything away for the uninitiated, it's safe to say the Secret Island should not be on your skip list. The Secret Island falls in line best after episode 224 of the Ocean’s Dream arc in the Water 7 Saga.

7. One Piece: The Giant Mechanical Soldier of Karakuri Castle (watch after episode 228)

If you’re in the mood for great action sequences and an off-kilter plotline, then The Giant Mechanical Soldier of Karakuri Castle will fully satisfy. The Straw Hats find and open a treasure box. Instead of loot, the crew finds an old lady inside. They agree to help her return home in exchange for a treasure on her Mecha Island. Upon arrival, the crew comes under attack by the island’s leader before he reverses track and asks for their help finding the treasure. Karakuri Castle is best seen after episode 228 of the Foxy’s Return arc in the Water 7 Saga.

8. One Piece – Episode of Arabasta: The Desert Princess and the Pirates (watch after episode 312)

Most One Piece fans will list the Arabasta arc as one of the best in the franchise. Which means if you watched the episodes, then this movie is extremely skippable. This movie is essentially a condensed version of that storyline that doesn’t offer any new storywise. If you need or want a refresher offered with high quality action sequences then watch the Episode of Arabasta remake after episode 312.

9. One Piece: Episode of Chopper Plus: Bloom in Winter, Miracle Sakura (watch after episode 325)

The Chopper Plus remake changes events and adds new canon characters, including a sidekick for the villain Wapol, to the original episodes in the Drum Island arc. It’s best to view watch this One Piece movie as an alternate universe where Luffy’s still trying to save crewmate Nami with different obstacles. If you’re interested in seeing the Bloom in Winter play out in a parallel world, watch Chopper Plus after episode 325 and the end of the Water 7 Saga.

10. One Piece Film: Strong World (watch after episode 381)

Luffy and his crewmates learn that islands in East Blue have been destroyed. The crew discovers that an ex-member of the Rocks Pirates, Shiki the Golden Lion, is responsible. Shiki wants to destroy the marines. After he kidnaps Nami to become their navigator, the Straw Hats decide to take matters into their own hands. They come together to battle the legendary Shiki and rescue Nami. Strong World showcases Shiki’s devil fruit powers and pits Luffy and crew against a myriad of challenges. Strong World is absolutely not canon but makes for a great ride. Watch it any time after episode 381. But we suggest waiting until after the last episode (429) of Little East Blue arc of the Summit Saga for best alignment in this epic journey.

11. One Piece 3D: Straw Hat Chase (watch after episode 381)

One Piece 3D: Straw Hat Chase gets treated as the eleventh movie in the One Piece franchise, but in reality it’s more of a short (and at this point, kind of lost media). Luffy wakes up to a missing crew and spends the entire movie on the hunt for them. Cue it up directly after finishing Strong World because there’s nothing special to separate it from the pack. Straw Hat Chase is pretty much impossible to find and so skippable not even hardcore completionists will demand you sit through it.

12. One Piece Film: Z (watch after episode 578)

One Piece Film: Z aims right for the feels with a story centering former marine admiral Z. Z’s stolen a dangerous weapon known as the “Dyna Stones,” and now the Straw Hat Pirates and other admirals must battle him to stop the end of the world. Widely considered one of the best One Pieces movies, Z is colorful and action-packed on top of being a tear-jerker. There’s a bit of debate about the best time to slide Z into the timeline. It’s viewers choice: cue it up after episode 573 or wait until the end of the Z’s Ambition arc with episode 578. Whichever you decide, not watching it would be a mistake.

13. One Piece Film: Gold (watch after episode 750)

The Straw Hat Pirates visit the greatest entertainment city contained on the Gran Tesoro ship. THe story shifts from a gambling vacation to a heist film in short order. This casino adventure offers slick animation and plenty of action from start to finish. Sometimes the point is fan service and that’s exactly the aim of Gold. If you’re this far down the One Piece rabbit hole then that fan service is going to make for a satisfying ride. This is best viewed after finishing the Silver Mine arc of the Whole Cake Island Saga.

14. One Piece: Stampede (watch after episode 889)

Luffy and crew decide to participate in a pirate festival alongside numerous other famous pirates. They quickly realize it's actually a free-for-all to find another one of Roger’s treasures. Over the course of the battle royale, more mysterious goings-on appear and cause upheaval. Do expect to see plenty of fan favorite characters, and the full range of powers operation in the One Piece World. Stampede is next-level fan service wrapped in an epic adventure. This must see movie can be watched any time after episode 889, the end of the Whole Cake Saga. But we suggest maybe waiting until after the Cidre Guild arc in the Wano Country Saga.

15. One Piece Film: Red (watch after episode 1030)

One Piece Film: Red, the most recent movie, is about Shanks and his daughter Uta. The Straw Hats attend a concert hosted by Uta, a famous singer, on Elegia the Island of Music. Things quickly go awry when the attendees discover that Uta is the daughter for Shanks, chief of the Red Hair Pirates. It should be noted that Red is initially driven by songs since that’s how Uta’s power manifests but the unfolding mysteries, chases, displays of legendary powers, and dangerous encounters make it all worthwhile. Red fits seamlessly after the Uta's Past arc of the Wano Country Saga.

The Future of One Piece

Eiichiro Oda has been teasing that he’s almost done with the One Piece manga for about 15 years, yet here we are. Though no one has a clear idea of when the manga (and therefore the anime) will end, we do know a few years. At a Jump Festa event in December 2025, Oda teased the end of the Elbaph arc for 2026 and said “The story will be moving at a breakneck speed.”

The One Piece anime is going through big changes this year, as it is changing from a weekly to a seasonal release schedule and will only release a maximum of 26 episodes per year starting this April with the Elbaph arc adaptation. We still don’t know when the next One Piece movie is going to come out, but Oda said it is not going particularly well production-wise. Still, he teased at Jump Festa that the story is one “all of you will be very interested in.”

There’s also an upcoming remake of One Piece titled “The One Piece” which is in production.

What About the Netflix Show?

While we don't have any news about new One Piece movies, we do know that the One Piece live-action series is returning for a second season some time in 2026. A new teaser for Season 2 also seems to confirm that Season 3 has already been greenlit.

Another major One Piece collaboration is LEGO releasing seven new One Piece sets based on the first season of the Netflix show. All of these sets represent scenes from the East Blue Saga.

Crunchyroll Is Increasing Prices Right After Removing Its Free Streaming Plan

Crunchyroll has announced a price hike across all of its streaming plans for U.S. subscribers. The price increases go into effect for new subscribers starting today, while existing subscribers will see the new prices reflected in billing cycles after March 4.

The changes generally increase every monthly subscription plan by $2, broken down as follows:

  • Fan Tier will increase from $7.99/month to $9.99/month.
  • Mega Fan Tier will increase from $11.99/month to $13.99/month.
  • Ultimate Fan Tier will increase from $15.99/month to $17.99/month.

This is Crunchyroll’s second price increase since merging with Funimation. The previous increase, which took effect in May 2024, had been the service’s first price hike in over five years. The new price hike notably follows Crunchyroll's removal of its free streaming plan at the end of 2025.

The price increase, announced through a post on the Crunchyroll website, includes the following statement about Crunchyroll’s current value: “Crunchyroll subscribers enjoy the world’s largest dedicated anime library with 50,000+ episodes, 25,000 hours, and 2,000 series and films, alongside music videos, concerts, games, and more.”

The statement goes on to highlight “Recent and upcoming platform enhancements,” including:

  • Teen profiles and PIN protection
  • Multiple profiles
  • Skip Intro/Credits
  • Expanded device compatibility

The service also recently expanded its offerings with Crunchyroll manga, a digital-only service bolstered by connections with publishers like Viz Media and Square Enix.

The announcement is not accompanied by any indication of financial challenges. Crunchyroll, which is currently streaming the winter anime season, reported crossing 17 million paying subscribers in March 2025. Deadline reported Sony’s desire to double down on the streaming service after reaching the subscriber milestone: “Amid the anticipated continued growth of the anime market, Sony plans to accelerate Crunchyroll’s growth.”

This strategy will leverage connections with other Sony properties, including the animation studio Aniplex as well as PlayStation. The Ghost of the Tsushima anime, which will stream exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2027, is an example of the synergy Sony seems to be pursuing. It remains to be seen whether that synergy offers enough value to consumers over the spread of free anime streaming options.

Fans Think Fortnite Might Be About to Turn Into the Pink Pony Club With a Chappell Roan Crossover

Fortnite fans are on the edge of their seats as rumors and leaks seem to suggest a potential Chappell Roan crossover coming to Fortnite in February.

The Femininomenon of the pop music world has been the talk of the Fortnite community since cosmetics related to some of her most iconic songs supposedly leaked late last month. Developer Epic Games hasn’t confirmed whether Chappell Roan or her famous pink pony mascot will actually show up in-game, but fans are still expecting an announcement as soon as this week.

CHAPPEL ROAN POTENTIALLY NEXT FESTIVAL ARTIST #Fortnite pic.twitter.com/Ut2jTrm6Ok

— Leaky (@itsmeleaky) January 22, 2026

X/Twitter user @itsmeleaky seems to have been the first to kick off rumors that the Midwest Princess was next to join Epic’s roster of Festival stars, sharing images of some very Chappell Roan-looking music cosmetics and what appears to be a llama sidekick dressed up as a pink, cowboy hat-wearing pony. Players were then able to find these same items in a special room in-game, with some other familiar visuals, including flashy pink stars and some knight armor, adding to the pile of alleged evidence.

All three items would certainly fit the occasion, especially the potential sidekick, which looks a lot like a reference to the star’s mega-hit song, Pink Pony Club. The knight armor, meanwhile, has been taken as a sign that at least one of what could be a few skins could pull from Chappell Roan’s medieval-themed Video Music Awards performance of Good Luck, Babe!. She’s known for her many, many memorable looks, though, so music fans are still guessing which direction Epic could take her cosmetics should she have a substantial presence in Fortnite this month.

👀| Fortnite appears to have begun teasing a possible collaboration with Chappell Roan pic.twitter.com/zUMRqjXlxx

— Chappell Roan Now (@ChappellRoanNow) January 23, 2026

Meanwhile, the studio confirmed plans to launch Fortnite version 39.40 this week on January 30, leaving fans to look out for new content in the days ahead. Again, Epic hasn’t confirmed whether the star will show up at all, but for some, it’s not a question of if, but when and how.

Chappell Roan’s status as a Grammy award-winning artist with millions of listeners has many expecting her to headline an upcoming Festival update as its new icon. It would mean potentially multiple skins to accompany the inclusion of more of her music, though how the star’s career could be represented is unclear. It’s possible she could have a more muted presence, but with the previous icon, Lisa, set to rotate out in just a few days, fans believe it could be the perfect time for Chappell to make her proper Fortnite debut.

FORTNITE VALENTINE'S DAY EVENT TEASER pic.twitter.com/ew7rxBrrzg

— Shiina (@ShiinaBR) February 1, 2026

As Chappell Roan rumors for Fortnite heat up without official confirmation, players are still looking forward to other updates for February. The game’s official account recently put out what appears to be a tease, saying, “In February, Fortnite wears pink.” It could be more evidence that Chappell Roan is on the way, but it’s also likely referencing its upcoming Valentine’s Day plans. Another post from today has music and movie fans looking forward to more KPop Demon Hunters content.

Fortnite leapt into Chapter 7 with an Avengers: Endgame-style event late last year. The months since have, of course, been filled with more crossover content, including a collaboration that brought South Park items into the fold and a few skins from The Office.

Nitro Deck 2 for Nintendo Switch 2 Is Up for Preorder at Amazon With a May 1 Release Date

The Nitro Deck 2 is poised to be one of the Switch 2's hottest accessories for anyone looking to elevate their gaming experience while maintaining comfort over extended periods of time. While this new and improved hardware from CRKD isn't landing until later this Spring (May 1 according to the Amazon listing), it's worth getting excited about its suite of upgrades over the original Nitro Deck.

The Nitro Deck 2 is a step up in essentially every meaningful way, providing a far more premium experience over the original. There's a lot of new features to admire, but some of the most notable are improved ergonomics (including an offset right stick), swappable D-pads and stick tops, a sturdier kickstand, and an updated sliding mechanism for a better fit.

Not only does the Nitro Deck 2 offer considerable improvements over the first iteration, but it also sports full backward compatibilty with the Switch and Switch OLED, giving you plenty of freedom to swap back and forth between Nintendo's newer and older systems. It can even be disconnected and used as a pro-style controller for your Switch or Switch 2, PC, or mobile device.

For those who value aesthetics, the Nitro Deck 2 comes in three standard color variations: Smoke Black, Pal Grey, and White. But CRKD has also teamed up with Limited Run Games for a limited edition Fusion Edition of the accessory, sporting translucent blue and purple for those looking for a bit of extra visual flair.

You can preorder all four variations of the Nitro Deck 2 from the CRKD website and Amazon. You can also purchase the LRG Fusion Limited Edition directly from Limited Run Games. Preorders from CRKD include a bonus exclusive string bag and early adopters collector’s pin.

Regardless of where you buy the Nitro Deck 2, every variation (including the LRG Fusion Limited Edition) will run you $99.99. Purchasing from the CRKD website, however, allows you to also add on a variety of accessories for the Nitro Deck 2, such as a pack of swappable D-pads, an 8-pack of stick tops, and more. Both sites offer the Nitro Deck 2 Hardshell Carry Case for $39.99.

Preorders of the Nitro Deck 2 are expected to ship between April 1 and June 30 depending on where you order from, so you'll still have a little while to wait before you can wrap your hands around this highly anticipated redesign.

The Anycubic Kobra 3 3D Printer and Ace Pro Multi-Color Printing Drops Below $200 for the First Time

Here's a great opportunity to pick up a fully featured 3D printer for a supremely low price. AliExpress is currently offering the Anycubic Kobra 3 V2 3D Printer Combo - which also includes the Ace Pro multi-filament printing module - for just $199. You'll have to sign into your account to see this price (otherwise you might see $233). This is the first time I've seen this model sell for under $200. The exact same combo sells for $380 on Amazon.

You're buying it from Anycubic's official store on AliExpress. It ships free locally from the United States and arrives within 1 to 2 weeks. The Kobra 3 is an excellent option for any newcomer to 3D printing; it's easy to setup, it produces great 3D prints with minimal fiddling, there are plenty of mods available (that you can print yourself), all at a budget price.

Anycubic Kobra 3 3D Printer Combo for $199

Includes the Ace Pro Multi-Filmanet Printing Module (for multiple colors)

The Anycubic Kobra 3 is an open bed printer with a working space measuring approximately 10" cubed. It boasts a print speed of up to 600mm/s with 20,000mm/s² acceleration and can print a benchy in under 12 minutes. Other features include an accelerometer G-sensor that allows for auto-leveling and vibration compensation, a 200W dual PTC heating system to keep a stable temp for consistent filament drying, and easy to use touchscreen controls. Assembly is quick and easy and you should be able to make your first test print in a matter of minutes.

The Ace Pro multi-filament module fleshes out the 3D printing capabilities. It's also what makes this deal so good because it normally sells for $200 or more by itself. This add-on allows you to print using up to four different colored filaments simultaneously. It features intelligent identification filament sync, nozzle clog detection, and active heating for filament drying. It also stores the filament in a sealed container to avoid foreign contamination.

Note that this is the newer "V2" model that was released in mid 2025. Updates include:

  • Wider Y-axis (60mm)
  • Upgraded SG15 searings on the X-axis
  • Improved nozzle design
  • Larger build volume
  • Built-in 720p camera
  • Up to 8-color native printing support

There are plenty of other 3D printer options out there. I've personally enjoyed using a Bambu Lab 3D printer. Keep in mind, however, that none of them will offer similar features (especially the multi-color printing) for even close to the same price.

Got Mirrorform in Magic: The Gathering’s Lorwyn Eclipsed? Here Are The Most Fun Cards To Use With It

The latest Magic: The Gathering set, Lorwyn Eclipsed, is here to kick off the game’s 2026 release schedule.

This release marks the return to the classic fae and elf-heavy realm of Lorywn, last visited back in 2008. Recently, as I was perusing Instagram, I came across a video by Daniel Powell (aka JollySaintClick), who brought to my attention the new “Mirrorform” card that is part of the latest set.

This card, costing four colorless and two blue mana, reads as follows: “Each nonland permanent you control becomes a copy of target non-aura permanent.” JollySaintClick pointed out how the card can get out of hand with something like Coveted Jewel, and it got me thinking: What other cards would be great to copy with Mirrorform?”

Mirrorform Explained

Before I get into the list, let’s break down a couple of important things about Mirrorform:

It doesn’t say “until the end of the turn” anywhere on the card: Your cards won’t be changing back at the end of your turn, so take care when you drop Mirrorform, and just as important, make sure your hand is set up so you aren’t leaving yourself too restricted after playing it. You don’t want to put yourself in a rough spot after getting all your copies out.

Legendary cards are out (mostly): Because Mirrorform is changing all nonland permanent cards, artifacts like Mirror Box that remove the legend rule will get overwritten, so making copies of legendary cards will be tough, though not impossible. If this is the route you want to take, you will need to find a way to remove the “Legendary” aspect of the creature in question; otherwise, all but one of your copies will be destroyed.

Tokens are okay to copy: Nothing in the card stipulates that your target has to be a nontoken, so just make sure you are aware that if you manage to make a really cool token of something, it is just as viable as anything else.

It’s an instant: While Mirrorform may feel like it should be a sorcery, being an instant means you can cast it outside of your turn or in response to something else. This can be a big help and a great answer to a threat on the board or when you’re the target of an attack.

The Best Cards To Use With Mirrorform

Giggling Skitterspike

Growing up, the spider-doll creature in the original Toy Story terrified me, and thanks to Duskmourn, that critter was turned into a nasty Magic card in the form of the Giggling Skitterspike.

Turning a pool of dull random tokens or boring creatures into indestructible spider dolls that can dish out damage equal to its power to ALL opponents whenever it is targeted is especially scary. The fact that you can boost them to 6/6 with its Monstrosity 5 ability makes the Skitterspike a prime option to use with Mirrorform. Just be prepared for nightmares…

Ouroboroid

Feel like getting some +1/+1 counters? Then Mirrorform some Ouroboroids onto the field, and you will have more counters to hand out than you will know what to do with. Throw in a card like Doubling Season to really up those numbers, and all of these giant space plants will be swarming the battlefield in no time.

Your opponents may give up, so they don't have to wait for you to tally up all the counters each turn.

Mother of Runes

An army of moms that can give each other protection of whatever colors you want? Sounds good to me! As each creature can be activated separately, this means that you can save their protection and use them on a case-by-case basis, depending on what your opponents do.

If you manage to power up one Mother of Runes and make it stronger, that protection will also let them hit directly at your opponents, too, circumventing their blockers altogether.

Ruin Crab

Honestly, this list could have been all Landfall, but I wanted to restrain myself a bit; Ruin Crab is just too good not to include.

If you are running a deck with some solid token generation, which would be preferred if you are running a copy of Mirrorform period, having a ton of Ruin Crabs on the field will make every single land you drop an immense pain for every one of your opponents, thanks to each trigger of them having to mill on each land drop.

Consuming Aberration

My friends and I still can't believe that Consuming Aberation isn't a legendary, but seeing as it matches a color with Mirrorform, this is one of the easiest recommendations on this list.

Similar to Ruin Crab, as it deals with Mill, an army of this horror will not only terrify your opponents from a mill risk, but the massive amount of power and toughness they will all have, due to their strength coming from the number of cards in your opponents' graveyards. Every little spell you cast will spell terror for your enemies.

Battletide Alchemist

Who needs blockers when you can just prevent all the damage that you get hit with? The Battletide Alchemist Kithkin Cleric has a compounding ability, as each card will be able to prevent more damage on its own from each copy Mirrorform creates, while also multiplying prevention by the number of copies you have.

Even if you only have 5 copies after Mirrorform resolves, that will still mean that each source (not total damage) will need to exceed 25 damage to deal any damage to you.

Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm

Now, before you go into the comments to explain to me how the Legend rule works and how all but a single copy would be destroyed, let me stop you and tell you that yes, you are right.

But we aren't using Mirrorform on the Miirym; we are using it on a token of Miirym that it itself creates. A token, mind you, that specifically reads (thanks to Miirym's ability) "Except the Token isn’t legendary", and as I specifically pointed out earlier, Mirrorform doesn't stipulate your target has to be nontoken.

So yes, there is a bit of a setup that you will need to do to get this to work, but once you have that non-legendary token out, having multiple copies of each dragon you cast is just far too tempting a proposition to deny.

Roil Elemental

Roil Elemental is another one of those fun Landfall trigger cards that will be great fun to have a ton of copies, but whereas Ruin Crab caused your foes to mill, Roil Elemental instead lets you steal their creatures instead for each land you drop.

The upkeep of keeping track of which copy stole which cards might be annoying, but that delightful feeling of taking that annoying creature of your friends from them will more than make up for it.

Admonition Angel

A bit like Roil Elemental, since it allows you to mess with the board states of your opponents, Admonition Angel has a nasty landfall trigger that allows you to exile any other nonland permanent for as long as the angel remains on the battlefield.

Having a bunch of copies courtesy of Mirrorform would mean a single land allows you to wipe out boards in an instant, and if you have a way to make your permanents indestructible, protecting your copies, then you will really be putting yourself in a solid spot.

The fact that the cards exiled this way have the chance to return should the angel leave the battlefield does give your opponents hope that things can turn around - hope that you can dash with that next land you play.

Relentless Rats

Whereas Battletide Alchemist had a compounding effect that prevents damage, Relentless Rats is a sort of antithesis. Each copy of rats that your Mirrorform makes will empower every other copy that is made, leaving you with a swarm of cute little murderous creatures to sic on your opponents. It's simple, yet effective.

With tens of thousands of cards in the Magic: The Gathering library, there are hundreds, if not thousands, more cards that would be great options to use with Mirrorform. What are some cards you would want to use with Mirrorform? Sound off in the comments!

The Game Awards 2026 Sets December Premiere Date as Fans Expect Big Things from the New Year

Geoff Keighley has already set Thursday, December 10, as the date for The Game Awards 2026.

The show’s creator and host announced the “save the date” news in a post on social media today. It’s early confirmation for this year’s show, securing its spot at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles nine months before viewers tune into what Keighley has previously referred to as “gaming’s biggest night.”

📅 Save The Date

More details later this year ✨ pic.twitter.com/uKLVnw6gWU

— Geoff Keighley (@geoffkeighley) February 2, 2026

Gaming fans often spend the months leading up to the award show predicting which titles will take home awards for major categories like Game of the Year, Best Narrative, Best Game Direction, and Best Performance. At just one month into 2026, you’d think there would be no reasonable predictions as far as the winners (and losers) go for this year’s Game Awards, but fans already have one game on their minds: Grand Theft Auto 6.

Rockstar Games has a history of big wins at shows like these (Red Dead Redemption 2 had the most awards at The Game Awards 2018), so the long-in-development sixth mainline GTA game is on everyone’s radar. Other highly anticipated titles, like Resident Evil Requiem, Saros, Fable, and Control Resonant have some expecting steep competition, especially when it comes to the Game of the Year award, but there are a few other issues to consider, too.

Like any other industry award show, The Game Awards has a cutoff date a few weeks before the event itself, keeping some games from being competing despite being released in the year the show is held. For The Game Awards 2025, the cutoff date was November 21, 2025, at 9 p.m. PT / 12 a.m. ET. GTA 6 has a release date of November 19, 2026 – and that’s if it can dodge yet another delay. Meanwhile, with so much time left in the year, there’s a high likelihood at some of the year’s best game may not have even been announced yet.

“And the most anticipated game award in 2026 goes to GTA 6” https://t.co/CoHBHJtN1W pic.twitter.com/GMslOQ90d8

— GTA 6 Countdown ⏳ (@GTAVI_Countdown) February 2, 2026

Today’s announcement arrives less than two months after Keighley hosted The Game Awards 2025 on December 11. The show brought a number of bombshell announcements and reveals, including Divinity, a first look at Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil Requiem, two Tomb Raider games, footage from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and more. The one-last-thing reveal of the night was a first look at Highguard.

While we wait to see what surprises Keighley will eventually have up his sleeves for The Game Awards 2026, you can see IGN’s list of the biggest games coming in 2026. The Zootopia 2 4K Steelbook Is Now Up for Preorder at Amazon

Zootopia 2 became one of the highest grossing animated movies of all time last year, behind only China's Ne Zha 2 in 2025. The Disney film was made available on digital platforms just last week after its record-breaking box office run and the official Blu-ray release date was announced for March 3, 2026.

Preorders for the physical release of Disney's hit sequel are finally dropping online. The limited-edition 4K steelbook for collectors is available right now, but there's still no sign of the Blu-ray or DVD versions just yet. The steelbook is currently priced at $44.99, which is almost twice as much as it costs to rent the film digitally.

The Zootopia 2 4K Steelbook Is Available at Amazon

The Zootopia 2 Steelbook comes with both the 4K and Blu-ray discs as well as loads of bonus features. The main draw of this edition of the film is the steelbook itself, but it's also currently the only 4K or Blu-ray option available to buy. There will be a standard 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD release of this movie later on, but for now you can only preorder this one. Like all preorders on Amazon, this steelbook includes Amazon's preorder price guarantee if you buy now. That means that even though the price is currently at $44.99, you'll likely pay a little bit less than that if the price drops any time between now and its release date.

The Zootopia 2 Steelbook also comes with a variety of bonus features and deleted scenes. Here's all of the extras you get with the physical release:

The Best Books of 2025 That You Might Have Missed – Here’s What To Read Next

2025 saw the release of so many incredible books, and I’ve already shared my roundup of the best books of 2025 so far, which included the likes of The Hunger Games prequel, Sunrise On The Reaping, Emily Henry’s latest release, Great Big Beautiful Life, and many more.

But, as we move into 2026, I’m taking a look back at some of the other best books of 2025 that you might have missed. And I’ve included all the major genres to hopefully pique your interest - and, of course, add a few more books to your shelves this year.

If you’re looking for more reading inspiration or you’ve challenged yourself to read a certain number of books, you’ll also find my recommendations of the best books of each month of 2025 (starting with January) - and I’ll be continuing to do so in 2026 to make sure you’re kept in the loop.

Until then, here are the best books of 2025.

Heart the Lover by Lily King (Contemporary Fiction)

Beginning with a college-age love triangle that jumps forward decades later, Heart the Lover follows the lives of our narrator–dubbed Jordan, a moniker inspired by the character of the same name from The Great Gatsby–as well as Sam and Yash. All we can say is, get the tissues at the ready for the second half of this story.

After finding herself drawn back into Sam and Yash’s orbit years later, we see the trio navigate love, friendship, ambition, grief, loss, and forgiveness. It definitely has a similar feel and vibe to Gabrielle Zevin’s Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, if you enjoyed that book, too.

Coffin Moon by Keith Rosson (Horror)

We put together an entire list of the best 2025 horror books back in October, but another one you won’t want to miss is Coffin Moon by Keith Rosson. Set in the 1970s, the story follows Duane, who has just returned home from a tour in Vietnam, and is dealing with the aftermath while resettling back into his previous life, if that even exists anymore. And things only get worse when he crosses paths with a vampire.

Soon, Duane and his adopted niece find themselves driven by vengeance and revenge after the vampire kills Duane’s wife, with them hunting and being hunted by the seemingly immortal being.

The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson (Fantasy)

Combining epic fantasy and a brilliant murder mystery, all in a dark academia setting, it’s easy to see why readers weren’t able to get enough of The Raven Scholar last year. And this first tale sets things up for what looks to be an incredible trilogy.

With the long-standing emperor set to step down, the competition for his replacement begins. However, when one of the options is murdered, it falls to Neema to find out who is responsible and why. It’s a task that won’t really end all that well for her either way. On one hand, if she is successful, she could end up on the throne herself, whether she wants to or not. Alternatively, her failure will essentially amount to a death sentence and could have serious repercussions for the entire empire.

King Of Ashes by S.A. Cosby (Mystery/Crime)

S.A. Cosby never fails to keep us on the edge of our seats, and his latest release is no different. After Roman’s father is left for dead following a hit-and-run, which appears to be no accident, he finds that he must step up to protect his family.

Yet, when he returns home, he discovers that his younger brother, Dante, owes a number of dangerous criminals and gangsters money. At the same time, his sister, Neveah, is exhausted from helping their father run the family crematorium.

How far will Roman go to help his family?

The Compound by Aisling Rawle (Sci-fi/Dystopian)

Giving us a twisted take on reality TV shows like Love Island, The Compound takes what we know about these shows and flips them on their heads in a sinister way.

With the world outside quite literally falling apart, Lily is happy to compete amongst her fellow twenty-somethings for love. Yet, when things take a turn from the norm, and the contestants are forced to take part in increasingly dangerous challenges, what will she do to win? And what exactly will happen to those who lose? We can’t wait to pick this one up ASAP.

Everything Is Tuberculosis: The History and Persistence of Our Deadliest Infection by John Green (Non-fiction)

2025 was a standout year for non-fiction, with books like The Let Them Theory, The New Age Of Sexism, and No More Tears all catching our eye, but John Green’s Everything Is Tuberculosis quickly made it to the top of many of our TBR (to be read) lists.

After meeting a young tuberculosis patient named Henry at a hospital in Sierra Leone, John tells Henry’s story alongside the scientific and social histories of what is a curable and preventable bacterial infection that still kills over a million people a year, all while pondering the future of the disease. At a little over 200 pages, it’s a great introduction to non-fiction–especially if you normally shy away from it–and at that length, it will have you well on your way when it comes to any reading challenge pledges for the new year.

The Names by Florence Knapp (Contemporary Fiction)

A difficult read, in many ways, The Names asks the question, what is in a name? How will life differ for one little boy if he is named Bear, Julian, or Gordon? Flipping back and forth between the three versions of one life, this Sliding Doors-style debut highlights how one, seemingly simple, decision can alter the course of a life, and the lives of those around him, as each section jumps forward a number of years to offer us a snapshot of how life is unfurling with the three different names.

A story of family, perseverance, the pervasive impact of domestic abuse, as well as fate, I’ve just picked this up myself and can’t wait to dive in.

One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune (Romance)

A fantastically escapist beach or summer read–let’s just say, we’re already counting down the days until winter is over–Carley Fortune’s One Golden Summer is the perfect romance to pick up, if you haven’t already.

The story follows Alice as she heads back to the lakeside town of Barry’s Bay, a place she has fond memories of visiting in her youth, to look after her beloved Nan. This has a coming-of-age feel to it, even though Alice is now grown, as she rediscovers the joy of such a place and contemplates where her life is heading back home, all while getting to know the boy (now a man) that she admired from afar all those years ago.

Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros (Romantasy)

It would be remiss of us not to mention one of the biggest books of 2025 - Onyx Storm. The third book in the Empyrean series, this is the kind of escapist fantasy that you won’t be able to put down.

In this latest tome, Violet finds herself embarking on what might just be her most dangerous mission yet, as she risks everything to save the ones closest to her, even if it means keeping a secret close to her chest that could destroy every one of them.

Ellis is a freelance journalist, based in the UK, with a love of all things books. She also routinely chairs bookish events up and down the country, getting the scoop from some of the biggest and bestselling authors to keep you in the know.

The Apple AirPods Pro 3 Noise Canceling Earbuds Drops to a New Lowest Price (Better Than Black Friday)

Heads up: AirPods Pro 3 earbuds just got a new price cut that beats all previous deals, including Black Friday. The Verizon Store has lowered the price of the Apple AirPods Pro 3 earbuds to just $184 with free delivery. That's $65 off retail price and the lowest price I've seen to date. You do not need to be a Verizon subscriber to get in on this deal. The AirPods Pro 3 is a solid upgrade and potentially a worthwhile purchase even if you already own a previous generation model.

AirPods Pro 3 Earbuds for $184 (New All-Time Low Price)

The AirPods Pro 3 launched on September 19 and is the newest generation AirPods Pro. Like its predecessor, this is easily the best earbuds for anyone who uses an iPhone. Although it looks pretty similar to the 2nd gen AirPods, there are some pretty significant improvements under the hood. The most notable new feature is the built-in heart rate sensing (which means you don't need an Apple Watch anymore), but the AirPods Pro 3 improves in other subtle ways as well, including better audio quality, better noise cancelation, long battery life, and a more weatherproof IP57 shell.

Released alongside the AirPods Pro 3 was Apple's "Live Translation", which is an Apple Intelligence feature that translates other languages on the fly. This isn't exclusive to the AirPods Pro since it can also be used with the 2nd gen AirPods Pro and the AirPods 4. First hand reports have been generally very positive, including this take from PCMag.

Best Buy Has Open Box Asus ROG Strix G16 RTX 5070 Ti Gaming Laptops for Just $1,268

Best Buy is offering yet another fantastic deal on a preowned gaming laptop. While supplies last, you can pick up an open box "excellent condition" Asus ROG Strix G16 RTX 5070 Ti gaming laptop for just $1,267.99 with free shipping. If you were to get it new, it would cost $1,600. These preowned laptops are Geek Squad verified and sometimes still have all or some of their original warranty. Note that open box availability depends on your location.

Asus ROG Strix G16 RTX 5070 Ti Gaming Laptop for $1,268

Open Box - Excellent Condition

The Asus ROG Strix G16 gaming laptop features a 16" 1920x1200 IPS display, AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX processor, GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5600MHz, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. It measures 0.9" thin and weighs about 5.5 pounds. It's not the lightest laptop on the block, but that's because the Strix models put more emphasis on maximum performance and cooling. This is a pretty high-end model from Asus, sitting just under the Scar lineup and side by side with the Zephyrus lineup. The top lid boasts solid aluminum construction, but the base is made of plastic to keep the weight down and reduce heat transfer to the keyboard and palm area so that your hands don't get toasty while gaming.

The GeForce RTX 5070 Ti mobile GPU can handle the most demanding games

The RTX 5070 Ti mobile GPU is comparable in performance to the previous generation's RTX 4080 and pulls ahead of it in games that support DLSS 4 and multi-frame generation. It should easily be able to handle even the newest and most demanding games like Ghost of Yotei, Battlefield 6, and Borderlands 4 on the native 1920x1200 display.

Resident Evil Requiem Live-Action Trailer Provides a Fresh Look at Ruined Raccoon City

Capcom has published a live-action Resident Evil Requiem trailer that showcases our best look yet at the ruins of Raccoon City, a few weeks before players get to explore it for themselves.

The live-action short features Longlegs actress Maika Monroe, who plays a mother living in Raccoon City shortly before its infamous zombie outbreak. Things sadly do not end well for her (or her daughter) in this three-minute short film that is meant to set the scene ahead of Requiem's arrival.

Fans can now find the short film by scanning QR codes found on viral marketing appearing in New York's Time Square and around Hollywood. Alternatively, its YouTube link is now live and fans are sharing it around social media:

Capcom released a live action short film for Resident Evil Requiem called 'Evil Has Always Had A Name'https://t.co/5yf0Dm7cTL pic.twitter.com/bkl11bxCyC

— Stealth (@Stealth40k) February 2, 2026

The trailer features cops, dogs, and numerous background actors as zombies. A wide shot shows the huge crater left by the missile strike at the end of Resident Evil 3, designed to ultimately neutralize the city's undead outbreak. At street level, the city subsequently looks post-apocalyptic, with burnt out cars and part-collapsed skyscrapers as far as the eye can see.

Fans are already discussing the trailer's end, which features two shadows moving past. Dialogue is then heard saying "That's the last of them, facility secured," and then "Copy that, Raccoon City is ours." These voices certainly don't sound like Requiem's leading duo of Leon S. Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft, so who are they? And who has claimed the city now — Umbrella?

Resident Evil fans have known for some time that they will finally get to return to Raccoon City in the series' upcoming Requiem, which is set to tie-up long-gestating plot threads related to the location and to the shadowy Umbrella Corportation that have been dangling ever since the franchise's origins. An early trailer for Requiem featured a glimpse at the ruined city, and Leon's former Raccoon City Police Department headquarters.

How much more will we get to explore? With only a few weeks to go until launch, Capcom seems to have kept much of Resident Evil Requiem under wraps. That said, the game's director recently made a point of clearing up fan speculation that the game will be open world.

"This year is the 30th anniversary of the Resident Evil series, so it feels like no coincidence that 2026’s Resident Evil Requiem is combining the best ideas of the saga into what appears to be a fantastically constructed tribute to everything that makes the series so great," IGN wrote in our recent Resident Evil Requiem final preview. "Do you like tense survival horror? It’s here. Wanna go all guns blazing with intense action and a quip-obsessed hero? You get that too."

'A CGI Embalming' — Xfinity's Jurassic Park Super Bowl Ad Features Digitally De-Aged Sam Neil, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum

UPDATE: A previous version of this story mentioned that famed VFX studio Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) had worked on this ad, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter.

A rep for the company has now confirmed to IGN that while ILM worked on the spot's dinosaurs — including gallimimuses, the tyrannosaurus, the dilophosaurus, and the velociraptor — it did not work on the de-aging of Sam Neil, Laura Dern, or Jeff Goldblum.

ORIGINAL STORY: Super Bowl LX may still be a few days away, but Xfinity has already released its Jurassic Park-themed ad that features a digitally de-aged Sam Neil, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum.

Directed by Thor: Love & Thunder's Taika Waititi, the commercial includes clips from the original Jurassic Park intercut with new scenes starring its leading trio — albeit with some wonky CGI to make them appear 30 years younger.

While Xfinity's concept — what if Jurassic Park didn't go wrong? — is fun, viewers are already criticizing the ad's odd-looking de-aging.

The commercial begins with Jurassic Park's technical systems failing, as seen in the original movie. Luckily, here a jolly Xfinity technician shows up to plug in a new router, saving the day. With Jurassic Park now open and operating safely, a CGI-faced Sam Neil goes dinosaur watching, while a similarly altered Jeff Goldblum enjoys a mountain of shrimp.

— Swrve 🦖 'Jurassic' News & Content (@SwrveYT) February 2, 2026

"Yes, uh, Wi-Fi finds a way," Goldblum says, lounging at the pool with a tablet.

"He doesn't look like a younger man," responded one fan on social media, referring to the CGI behind Sam Neil's de-aged look. "He looks like a mannequin of a younger man, dreamed up by an AI that's only ever seen '90s movies through a vaseline-smeared lens. It's a CGI embalming."

"The actors look so uncanny," wrote benmannxd on reddit. "The Jurassic franchise is renowned for using CGI to reanimate dinosaurs!" responded Pitbullpandemonium.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the ad has been made possible because Xfinity owner Comcast owns NBCUniversal. Jurassic Park is owned by Universal, while NBC is airing Super Bowl LX.

"Bringing Jurassic Park back to life for this campaign has been an extraordinary collaboration across Comcast NBCUniversal," said David O'Connor, chief brand officer, Universal Entertainment. "For more than three decades, the franchise has captured the imagination of audiences around the world, and this partnership with Xfinity allows fans to experience that world in a completely fresh way.

"By combining the timeless characters and iconic moments of the original film with modern technology, we’re celebrating the legacy of Jurassic Park while introducing it to a new generation," O'Connor went on. "It’s a testament to the enduring power of the franchise and the kind of creative, cross-company storytelling that only NBCUniversal can deliver."

The Liquid Cooled Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 5080 Gaming PC Drops to $2,250 at Dell

2026 has already seen surges in the cost of DDR5 RAM and higher end Nvidia GPUs. Unfortunately, this also affects the price of prebuilt gaming PCs. Obviously this isn't an ideal time to be buying new computer parts, but if that's not stopping you from upgrading, I would suggest jumping on a deal you find now rather than waiting a little longer. Fortunately, there are still good deals when you know where to look.

Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 5080 Gaming PC for $2250

Dell is currently offering an Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 5080 gaming PC for $2,249.99 with free delivery after a $580 instant discount. This isn't the lowest price it has ever been, but it's a significant drop from the beginning of the year when it was priced closer to $2,800. If you're looking for a future-proof system, this RTX 5080 equipped PC should be powerful enough to set you up for 4K gaming for years to come.

This customizable system is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB SSD. The Intel Core Ultra 7 265F is a 20-core processor with a max turbo frequency of 5.3GHz. It's cooled by a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooling system. The 1,000W power supply gives you headroom for upgrades down the road.

The GeForce RTX 5080 GPU will run any game in 4K

Performance-wise, the RTX 5080 is no slouch. It's one of the fastest cards on the market, bested only by the $2,000 RTX 5090 and the discontinued $1,600 RTX 4090. This is a phenomenal card for playing the latest, most demanding games in 4K resolution at high settings and ray tracing enabled. The RTX 5080 supports DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation, which means you can push even more frames out of games that support the technology with minimal visual compromise. Recent games that support it include Doom: The Dark Ages, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Borderlands 4, Stellar Blade, and Battlefield 6. Check out our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review for our hands-on impressions.
