Lian Li HydroShift II LCD-C 360TL Review

With the HydroShift II LCD-C 360T, Lian Li aims to stand out in both performance and design. The AIO features a beautiful IPS display along with many improvements over its predecessor. It’s more than just another flashy cooler—if you're okay with some more eccentric elements.

Over 96% of Switch 2 buyers also picked up Mario Kart World

The $80 price tag for Mario Kart World sent shockwaves through the gaming industry, but that has not stopped it from selling. At the end of June, Nintendo had sold six million Switch 2 consoles and almost every single one of those customers also owns a copy of the new Mario Kart game.

Nintendo has revealed sales data from the Switch 2 launch month. In June, the new console sold 5.82 million units, and of that number, 5.63 million also bought a copy of Mario Kart World, either as part of the £429 bundle, or as a separate purchase.

This figure puts Mario Kart World at an over 96% attach rate, a figure that should drop as more Switch 2 units make it out into the wild and more console bundles release. The Mario Kart World Switch 2 bundle will be replaced in October with a new Pokémon Legends Z-A bundle.

Unfortunately for all of the other publishers supporting the Switch 2 at launch, Mario Kart World ate up the vast majority of sales. Around 8.67 million Switch 2 games were sold in June, and as we now know, almost 6 million of those sales were just for Mario Kart World.

KitGuru Says: As impressed as I've been with the Switch 2 hardware-wise, the software line-up is currently leaving a lot to be desired. For a start, far more Switch 1 exclusives need to be updated, particularly stuff like Bayonetta 3 and the Xenoblade games, as they ran absolutely terribly on the original hardware, with sub-HD resolutions.

Intel XeSS 2 adds support for AMD and Nvidia GPUs

Alongside the launch of its Arc Battlemage graphics cards, Intel introduced its own Frame Generation and Low Latency modes for XeSS. Today, with the release of XeSS 2.1 (and the respective SDK), Intel is making those features available to everyone, including gamers with AMD Radeon and Nvidia GeForce graphics cards.

Previously, XeSS Frame Generation was exclusive to Intel's own Arc GPUs. Now, once developers integrate the new libraries into their games, players with compatible hardware from any brand will be able to enable both XeSS upscaling and XeSS Frame Generation.

The key requirement for this cross-vendor support is a GPU that supports Shader Model 6.4. For Team Green, this means any card from the GeForce GTX 10-series onwards is compatible. For Team Red, you'll need a Radeon RX 5000-series card or newer to enable XeSS. Moreover, Intel did note that for non-Intel GPUs, the XeSS Low Latency (XeLL) feature is dependent on Frame Generation, meaning you can't enable it on its own.

With both AMD's FSR and now Intel's XeSS offering a full suite of upscaling and frame generation tools that work on a wide range of hardware, Nvidia's DLSS suite is still locked to its cards, and it won't likely change in the future. XeSS 2 being vendor-agnostic is undoubtedly a win for gamers, who will now have more choice than ever when it comes to performance-boosting technologies.

KitGuru says: As games are updated to support the new XeSS 2 libraries, we should start to see a whole new range of titles offering frame generation to a much wider audience of PC gamers.

Bandai Namco is remaking a major PS2 classic

The trend of reviving beloved 3D platformers from the PS2 era continues, and the last Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase delivered a welcome surprise for fans of the genre. Bandai Namco has officially announced Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac, a full remake of the 2002 classic, which is set to launch next month.

Just to be clear, this isn't just a simple HD port. Bandai Namco is billing Re-Pac as a complete rebuild from the ground up. The remake introduces several new quality-of-life features, including a landing indicator to help with tricky jumps and optional mission objectives that unlock cosmetic items for Pac-Man. Perhaps most interestingly, it adds a new co-op mode where a second player can control a helpful drone assistant (much like in Super Mario Galaxy).

For those who missed it back in the day, the original Pac-Man World 2 was a well-regarded platformer that landed a respectable 73 on Metacritic. While it may not have reached the heights of Sly Raccoon, Ratchet and Clank, or Jak and Daxter, it was a solid and memorable entry in the vast sea of platformers from that generation. Its revival follows in the footsteps of other cult classics like SpongeBob: Battle for Bikini Bottom and, of course, the first Pac-Man World Re-Pac.

Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac is scheduled to launch on September 26th and will be available on PC via Steam, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

KitGuru says: Did you play the original Pac-Man World 2? Will you be playing the remake?

Square Enix unveils new HD-2D action RPG for Switch 2

During the last Nintendo Direct presentation, Square Enix delivered a surprise new IP from a fan-favourite studio. Team Asano, the acclaimed developers behind the Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default series, have revealed The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, a brand-new action RPG built in their signature HD-2D art style.

The game follows the journey of Elliot and his fairy companion, Faie, as they explore the continent of Philabeldia. While their home, the Kingdom of Huther, remains safe under a protective spell, the wider continent has been invaded by animal tribes. The duo's adventure begins when they set out to investigate a mysterious set of ruins just outside the castle walls.

Unlike Team Asano's previous turn-based titles, The Millennium Tales is an action RPG. Players will wield seven different weapon types, from swords and sickles to arrows and chains. Combat can be customised through a “Magicite” system, which allows players to equip various abilities and buffs. As for Faie, she isn't just a sidekick. The character is fully playable. In single-player, you can switch between controlling Elliot and Faie at any time, with the fairy companion able to fight and gather items independently. The entire game also supports two-player co-op, with each player taking control of one of the heroes.

Square Enix has already released a demo for the game on the Switch 2 eShop to gather feedback, so you can try it out if you're interested. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is scheduled for a full release in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Switch 2.

SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance demo available now

Back during the 2023 Game Awards, SEGA officially announced that they would be bringing back many of their classic franchises, including but not limited to Jet Set Radio; Crazy Taxi; Golden Axe and more. One of the most exciting revivals is the upcoming SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance. Ahead of the game’s launch next month, SEGA has now released a demo for all to enjoy.

For the uninitiated, SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance is a brand new 2D action platformer based on SEGA’s classic and now nearly 40-year-old franchise.

Developed by LizardCube (known best for their work on the excellent Streets of Rage 4), the platformer offers a stylish and attractive “hand-drawn look” alongside slick combat across “more than a dozen unique and visually striking stages.”

If you’ve yet to be convinced, or can’t wait until the 29th of August, a free demo has now been released across all available platforms, featuring “an enhanced version of the first stage, Oboro Village” alongside a replayable arcade mode.

You can find the SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance demo right HERE on Steam.

Slime Rancher 2 is leaving Early Access this September

Slime Rancher 2 is the sequel to the cult-hit farming simulator which sees you grow and take care of different types of Slimes. Launched in Early Access all the way back in 2022, the sequel has adopted a similar development cycle to the first game – to great success. Now, after nearly 3 years in Early Access, Slime Rancher 2 is almost ready to hit 1.0.

Making the announcement on their Steam page, the team at Monomi Park wrote: “Save the date, Ranchers! Slime Rancher 2 is officially leaving Early Access!”

Arriving on the 23rd of September, version 1.0 will bring with it a number of major additions, including:

  • Drones “now with a Quantum twist”
  • New gadgets
  • New upgrades
  • New regions
  • “And more”

Of course, this is alongside all of the many updates and additions which have already been implemented over the past few years.

Since its Early Access release, Slime Rancher 2 has received just as much praise as its predecessor, with the game currently sitting at a 94% Very Positive all-time rating on Steam.

Though not arriving until January next year, those on PS5 or Xbox wanting a physical edition of Slime Rancher 2 will be able to pre-order from IAm8Bit starting now.

KitGuru says: Have you been following Slime Rancher 2’s Early Access journey? Will you be hopping into the game this September? How do you think the sequel compares to its predecessor? Let us know down below.

EA officially announces Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted

Earlier this year, the Brazilian game ratings board published a listing for Plants vs. Zombies Reloaded, suggesting that a remake or re-release of sorts was incoming for the first entry in the classic PopCap tower defence series. Sure enough, EA / PopCap have now officially unveiled said remaster – though under the more appropriate name of Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted.

Announced during the most recent Nintendo Direct Partner showcase, EA officially lifted the lid on Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted.

Set to arrive on the 23rd of October for £17.99, this latest release brings the iconic first entry to modern platforms “with upscaled HD graphics and packed with new secrets to uncover.”

Beyond the enhanced visuals, this ‘remaster’ brings with it a number of new and additional features, including:

  • New bonus levels
  • 2-player co-op mode
  • Local PvP mode
  • Unlockable visual options
  • New Cloudy Day Mode
  • New hardcore mode
  • Concept art

For many, their primary experience with the original Plants vs. Zombies is likely to have been through the less-than-stellar ad-filled mobile releases available on modern smartphones.

As such, it is nice to have a full, complete and future-proofed version of this classic available on current-gen systems.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Replanted as a name? Are you looking forward to any of the new modes? What do you think of the asking price? Let us know down below.

Once Upon A Katamari officially announced and dated

The Katamari series is a highly unique puzzle collectathon of sorts, thanks to its gravity-based rolling mechanics alongside a suite of stylised music and visuals. In celebration of the franchise’s 20th anniversary, the team at Bandai Namco promised that new entries were in the works. Sure enough, Once Upon A Katamari has now been officially announced – marking the first new console entry in over a decade.

Announced during the recent Nintendo Partner Direct, Once Upon A Katamari is the first console entry since 2011’s Touch My Katamari for the PS Vita. That said, in the years since Bandai Namco has brought the series back into the limelight with a series of remasters/remakes.

Finally however, we are getting a proper new Katamari game on the 24th of October, with some its innovations including:

  • never-before-seen support tools
  • A campaign which takes you across the Earth’s different eras of history (such as the “Jurassic Era, Ice Age, and more”)
  • 69 different playable characters
  • Additional character customisation
  • New 4-player KatamariBall PvP mode

As mentioned, there really isn’t anything quite like Katamari, and so it is exciting to finally see a new entry come along after years of mobile spin-offs and re-releases.

Once Upon A Katamari launches on the 24th of October on all current-gen platforms (and Switch) for the relatively modest price of £34.99.

KitGuru says: What are your thoughts on the Katamari series? What’s your favourite aspect of it? Will you be picking this up day-one? Let us know down below.

GameMax Aeries 330 mATX case brings maximum airflow at entry-level price

GameMax is looking to expand in the microATX market with the launch of its new Aeris 330 series. These compact cases aim to deliver a mix of style, airflow, and hardware support, all at a very aggressive price point that is sure to grab the attention of budget-conscious builders.

Builders will have the choice between two distinct versions of the case, both available in black or white finishes. For those prioritising thermal performance, the Aeris 330 Mesh features a high-airflow front panel designed to maximise air intake. Alternatively, the Aeris 330 Glass offers a more premium aesthetic with a tempered glass front panel to showcase the interior components.

Gamemax is pre-installing four of its Tornado T12 ARGB/PWM fans and a compatible control hub right out of the box. This means users get a complete set of synchronised, speed-controlled fans with the case out of the box. Despite its compact mATX footprint, the Aeris 330 cases fit a lot inside. It can house graphics cards up to 330 mm long, CPU air coolers up to 155 mm tall, and standard ATX PSUs. For liquid cooling enthusiasts, the case supports up to a 360 mm radiator in the front and a 240 mm radiator in the top.

The case is also equipped with a modern front I/O panel featuring a USB-C port and offers flexible storage mounting for up to five drives. The GameMax Aeris 330 series is priced reasonably, with the black mesh model starting at just $57.99 and the white glass version topping out at $63.99.

Micron announces world’s first PCIe Gen 6 SSD

Micron has recently unveiled its new portfolio of data centre SSDs based on its 9th generation 3D NAND, and the lineup includes some exciting products. The announcement is headlined by the Micron 9650, the world's first PCIe Gen 6 NVMe SSD, which arrives alongside the 6600 Ion, a drive that packs an incredible 122TB of storage into a compact form factor.

Leveraging the PCIe Gen 6 interface, the Micron 9650 delivers a sequential read speed of up to 28GB/s and 5.5 million random read IOPS, more than doubling the performance of many previous-gen drives. Aimed at AI training and inference workloads where throughput is key, the drive is also said to be up to 67% more power-efficient on reads than its Gen5 counterparts. Micron will be offering the 9650 in both E1.S and E3.S form factors with air and liquid-cooled options available.

For those who value capacity above all else, the Micron 6600 Ion SSD offers an unparalleled level of storage density. A 122TB version of the drive is set to arrive later this year in the E3.S form factor, with a mind-boggling 245TB variant scheduled for early 2026. These drives are designed to replace vast arrays of traditional hard drives, saving considerable amounts of physical rack space and power. Rounding out the new trio is the Micron 7600 SSD, positioned as a highly efficient and low-latency PCIe Gen5 solution for more common cloud applications and edge deployments.

Micron has stated that the new SSDs have already been validated with key partners, including Nvidia, Dell, Broadcom, and Astera Labs. Samples of the 9650 and 7600 are available to customers now, with the 122TB 6600 ION expected to land later in Q3. No pricing has been announced, but for this level of record-breaking performance, you can bet it won't be cheap.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru says: PCIe Gen 6 drives will eventually make their way down to the consumer market but as always, this technology is being employed first in enterprise. With data centres requiring more and more storage, new ultra high-speed SSDs and high-capacity 100TB+ drives will be in demand.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 patch adds DLSS and XeSS frame generation

Developer Sandfall Interactive has just rolled out a major update for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The new 1.4.0 patch delivers a host of welcome quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes. Still, the headline feature for PC gamers is the official implementation of Frame Generation for both Nvidia and Intel graphics cards.

While a mod previously enabled DLSS Frame Generation for Nvidia users, this latest patch brings official, integrated support into the game. Both DLSS and XeSS frame gen tech are now supported. Beyond the performance boost, the patch also introduces some highly-requested gameplay enhancements, including a new “Battle Retry Prompt”. This comes as a pop-up that appears after a lost combat encounter, giving players the option to quickly jump back into the fight without navigating extra menus. Other welcome additions include a cost display for Lumina abilities, an autoplay option for speech, and separate volume sliders for different parts of the game.

Sandfall Interactive has also squashed some bugs with this update. The patch addresses an issue that could cause character immortality when using specific abilities, and also fixes a problem with Lune's “Thermal Transfer” skill that was granting extra turns incorrectly. The update also includes fixes for disappearing journals, achievement errors, and a number of environmental visual refinements. The detailed patch notes can be found below:

Performance & Visuals

  • DLSS & XeSS Enhancements: Added Frame Generation and Low Latency Mode support for both DLSS and XeSS (compatible GPUs only). Enjoy smoother gameplay and lower input lag!

Quality of Life Improvements

  • Battle Retry Prompt: A new pop-up window appears after defeat, giving you the option to quickly retry the battle.
  • Lumina Cost Display: The Pictos menu now clearly displays the Lumina cost of each ability for better planning.
  • Autoplay Dialogue: Added an optional autoplay feature for dialogues outside cutscenes. You can toggle it in the settings and during dialogues.
  • Separate Volume Sliders: Audio settings now lets you independently adjust the volume for exploration and combat phases.

Accessibility

  • Added icons to Lune's Stains to improve readability and accessibility for colorblind players.

Combat

  • Lune's “Thermal Transfer” skill will no longer grant an extra turn without meeting the Stain consumption requirements
  • Characters will no longer gain immortality when using the Second Chance pictos combined with Healing Boon and Protecting Death

Misc

  • Fixed the Rocher holding a crystal occasionally despawning after reentering the Stone Wave Cliffs
  • Fixed some players being teleported behind the Monolith upon loading a save
  • Fixed Gameplay modifiers being applied to a New Game save when enabled on other saves
  • Fixed landing as Esquie without the party spawning, leading to input loss
  • Fixed the Fog on Flying Manor covering the screen and blocking the view on Steam Deck

Achievements

  • Fixed journals vanishing after loading a Save File that was created at the exact moment of picking up that journal
  • The following two trophies should now pop for you when you load your save if you were effected by these bugs:
    • Fixed “Expeditioner” and “Trailbreaker” achievements not unlocking if the characters reach a level higher than 33 or 66 after a battle
    • Fixed ‘Connoisseur' and ‘Follow The Trail' achievements not unlocking after collecting all required items on some savefiles

Environmental Polish

  • Various environmental bugfixes, tweaks and visual polish across multiple levels for a more immersive experience.

Final Fantasy Tactics trailer reveals fully voiced dialogue and new gameplay

The remake of Final Fantasy Tactics opted to retain the original's art style, so the new version isn't as much of a graphical upgrade, but the updates everywhere else are sure to reel in fans old and new. Today during a Nintendo Direct stream, a new trailer for the game released, revealing a number of major upgrades, including full voice acting.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles will feature fully voiced cutscenes, new dynamic camera angles during combat and dialogue sequences and a brand new opening cinematic that gives players a new perspective on the War of the Lions.

As far as gameplay goes, the Final Fantasy Tactics remake will have an expanded job system, with two new classes with unique skill trees. This will bring some fresh flavour to the game for those who have already sunk in hours mastering the combat. If you make a mistake, a rewind mechanic will allow you to undo your last move, and a new Iron Valor difficulty mode will give you limited saves, as well as permadeath for all characters.

Interestingly, Final Fantasy Tactics will also include cross-save functionality, so if you have it on PC and console, you can transfer your save between whichever system you are playing on.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles will release for PC, Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on the 30th of September.

Octopath Traveler 0 brings character creation ‘momentum’ combat and more

Today's Nintendo Direct closed out with a double-dose of Square Enix. Not only did we get a new look at Final Fantasy Tactics, but we also got a big reveal for a new game in the Octopath Traveler series, coming to both Switch and Switch 2 this December.

Octopath Traveler 0 was officially announced today during the Nintendo Direct stream. The game's iconic HD-2D graphics are front and centre once again, but there are some major changes to gameplay that quickly explain why this is Octopath Traveler 0 and not Octopath Traveler 3. While the previous games told stories centred around a set of pre-determined characters, Octopath Traveler 0 will invite players to create their own protagonist this time around.

The core themes of the story are Restoration & Retribution, with players taking on the task of rebuilding a ruined hometown and confronting powerful villains. True to the game's title, the story also emphasises ‘new beginnings' and starting over after tragedy.

On the gameplay side of things, Square Enix has expanded the ‘Path Actions' mechanic, enabling characters to influence the world around them in even more ways than before. Combat has also been upgraded with a new ‘momentum' system, where strategic timing and synergy can aid you in taking down enemies at a faster rate.

Octopath Traveler 0 will release for the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on the 4th of December. While previous games in the series have gone multiplatform, it appears that Octopath Traveler 2 will be a timed exclusive for the Switch at launch.

Apex Legends finally gets Switch 2 upgrade next month

EA took up a good chunk of the runtime during today's Nintendo Direct. Not only did we get new looks at upcoming sports games like EA FC 26 and Madden 26, but we also got confirmation that at long last, Apex Legends will be upgrading for the Switch 2.

Apex Legends will get its Switch 2 upgrade on the 5th of August, sporting new optimisations and upgraded graphics for better performance and visuals. You can get a sneak peek at it running in the gameplay trailer below:

Apex Legends originally came to the Nintendo Switch platform in 2021, but a Switch 2 patch was not ready in time for the console's launch in June. Specifics on performance and resolutions for the Switch 2 are not yet available, but we would expect the handheld mode to upgrade from 720p dynamic resolution to 1080p dynamic resolution, and perhaps upscaled 4K in docked mode. I would also hope for 60FPS, as that would put Switch 2 players on more equal footing to those on Xbox and PS5.

The Switch 2 upgrade arrives alongside the Apex Legends: Showdown update, which brings fast-paced 30-player battles to the game, as well as QoL updates like auto-looting.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is coming to the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2

Last year, Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero officially launched, impressing fans with its massive character roster that surpasses all previous titles from the fan-favourite Budokai Tenkaichi series. Now, the game is heading to a new platform – Nintendo Switch.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero! is the long-awaited return to a fan-favourite series of Dragon Ball Z games. The Budokai Tenkaichi games were classic 3D fighters, featuring many characters from the Dragon Ball universe, in addition to transformed and fused characters. With Sparking Zero, the team challenged itself in numerous ways, vastly deepening the fighting mechanics and featuring more characters than ever before. The game launched to positive reviews last year and has gone on to sell millions of copies across Xbox, PlayStation and PC. The latest trailer for the game reveals the Nintendo Switch version, complete with genuine Switch gameplay footage.

The vast character roster was a huge marketing point for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, featuring more characters than any other Budokai Tenkaichi game, in part thanks to the addition of new characters and variants from newer series, like Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball Daima. In total, the game features 182 characters and through DLC updates, even more characters have been added since launch.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero will launch on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on the 14th of November.

KitGuru Says: Some of the gameplay footage in this trailer looked rough, so I do wonder if they used Switch 1 footage, rather than Switch 2. If the game can't reach 60FPS on the Switch 2, then you're better off picking the game up on another platform.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection revealed for 2026

Just as promised, Nintendo hosted its Direct stream today, showcasing a ton of new third-party games coming to the Switch platform. Today's show kicked off with the reveal of Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection.

The latest entry in the Monster Hunter Stories franchise is now on the way. Unlike traditional Monster Hunter titles, the Stories series is an anime-inspired RPG, with big boss fights against beasts both new and familiar, as well as turn-based combat.

There is no exact release date yet but Monster Hunter Stories 3 will release for the Switch 2 in 2026. There is no word on the latest mainline game, Monster Hunter Wilds, coming to the Switch platform.

Typically, the Monster Hunter Stories series is multiplatform, so we also expect to see this game on PC and potentially PS5 and Xbox too.

KitGuru Says: Do you play the Monster Hunter Stories series? Are you looking forward to the new one? The trailer certainly makes it look a bit grander than the prior games.
