ASRock Z890 Taichi Aqua Motherboard Review – Incredible IO Capabilities With 10 Type-C Ports & Water-Cooling For High-End Enthusiasts

The Intel LGA 1700 platform was launched three years ago in 2021, and it has since seen a total of 3 generations of CPUs: Alder Lake (12th Gen), Raptor Lake (13th Gen), and Raptor Lake Refresh (14th Gen). We have seen at least three generations of motherboards, first with the 600-series, which had Z690 as the top SKU, and then two generations of 700-series based on the top Z790 chipset, which included a soft refresh for the 14th Gen lineup. Intel has now introduced its next-generation 800-series chipsets, and with the Core Ultra 200S CPU series, the company is also […]

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 surpasses 1 million sales

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 launched as the highest-rated game of 2025 so far and despite this week's release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, the game has managed to accrue an impressive number of sales.

Within days of the game's release, Sandfall Interactive confirmed it had surpassed 500K sales for the game. Now that the weekend surge has kicked in, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has now surpassed 1 million sales.

— Kepler Interactive (@Kepler_Interact) April 27, 2025

In a tweet, Sandfall Interactive thanks fans for their support of the game, adding that they reached the 1 million players milestone sooner than expected. Impressively, this 1 million sales figure does not include players who have installed the game via Game Pass.

For those out of the loop, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a new turn-based RPG where players look to take down The Paintress, a goddess-like figure that controls death in this fantasy universe. The game has gone on to receive wide acclaim from critics and gamers themselves are leaving overwhelmingly positive reviews for the game on Steam.

KitGuru Says: Have any of you installed this yet? Did you buy it or grab it through Game Pass?

Meta cuts jobs at Reality Labs division for AR and VR

Meta's AR and VR division has been burning money for a long time, costing the company billions as it chases its dream of birthing the ‘metaverse'. Now, company bosses are looking to bring the costs down and make its Reality Labs team more efficient.

According to sources speaking with Bloomberg, Meta is undergoing a round of job cuts at its Reality Labs division, with “more than 100″employees set to be impacted.

A Meta spokesperson later gave comment to The Verge, confirming that “some teams” were undergoing layoffs. The goal with this is to make Mixed Reality development more efficient, which sounds like an admission that Meta Reality Labs has lost too much money and things need to start turning around.

Despite seeing little return, Meta has continued to invest in its Reality Labs division, putting out new Quest VR hardware and acquiring additional companies to bolster its mixed reality offerings.

KitGuru Says: The writing has been on the wall for something like this, particularly after Meta's admission last year that it was losing $1 billion each month on Reality Labs projects.

Bungie is disabling ‘aim assist’ in Marathon for mouse users

The Marathon alpha playtest went live for thousands of players earlier this week and PC gamers were quick to zone in on the game's use of aim assist for both controller and mouse inputs. Now, Bungie has responded to the criticism.

Bungie will be making adjustments in an upcoming patch for the Marathon alpha test. This update will include disabling ‘aim magnetism' on mouse. It is unclear if aim assist will return for mouse users, but given how heavy-handed the ‘assist' was, it will need to be heavily nerfed in order to make a return.

While many shooters will offer some form of aim assist to controller users, aim assist is traditionally not offered to keyboard and mouse users due to the ease of aiming with a mouse compared to a controller's analogue sticks. While aim assist on controllers is generally accepted, spoofing your input to access aim assist on a mouse is often viewed as cheating and many games now actively ban players for using such tools.

In Marathon, aim assist was available for both controller users and mouse users. It was switched on by default in the Marathon alpha and it would essentially cause your aim to snap onto enemies. It also seemed to help with recoil control, taking another element of skill out of the shootout.

KitGuru Says: After seeing some of the gameplay footage, I had my doubts that mouse aim-assist would remain in the game past this alpha playtest. It is being removed for now. It will be interesting to see if Bungie makes any tweaks and attempts to add it back in for future playtests.

Bethesda reveals Oblivion Remastered has surpassed 4 million players

While the surprise was spoiled weeks ahead of time, Bethesda's reveal of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered still managed to deliver. The reveal quickly hyped fans up for a return to The Imperial City.

The Oblivion remaster quickly began racking up sales when it went live on Tuesday and things have only snowballed in the days following. Bethesda has now announced that the game has racked up over four million players in the days since release.

We are so grateful to the over 4 million of you that have already ventured into Cyrodiil with Oblivion Remastered. Thank you! pic.twitter.com/Fz1lo7XZtM

— Bethesda Game Studios (@BethesdaStudios) April 25, 2025

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has been rumoured for years, as the game originally showed up on a Microsoft document filed in the FTC vs Microsoft court case. The leaked document also listed Fallout 3 Remastered and Dishonored 3, neither of which have been officially announced yet.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has been a top-selling game on Steam, as well as Xbox and PS5 consoles since its release. However, the game also had a player boost from Game Pass, with the game becoming available to all Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers on day-one.

Capcom begins teasing Resident Evil 9

We are a few years removed from the launch of Resident Evil Village, which means it is about time we started learning more about the sequel. Capcom has not yet made any official announcements regarding Resident Evil 9 but a recent teaser shows that the company is gearing up for a reveal.

In a recent milestone video celebrating 10 million players for Resident Evil 4 Remake, Capcom hid a little sign numbered ‘IX'. This was quickly picked up on by fans on social media.

Resident Evil 9 has been in the works since Resident Evil Village shipped. The next game is set to conclude the story that began with Resident Evil 7, which introduced all new characters to the franchise.

According to long-time Resident Evil leaker, Dusk Golem, Resident Evil 9 will be announced later this year, with a release date scheduled for 2026. Typically, Capcom likes to release major titles in the first half of the year, as we've seen in recent years with the likes of Monster Hunter Wilds and Dragon's Dogma 2 being Q1 releases.

KitGuru Says: We've gone a long time with no Resident Evil news. It feels like this summer is the time for that to change.

Thermaltake unveils Toughpower GT PSUs

Thermaltake is expanding its power supply lineup with the launch of the new Toughpower GT Series, designed to handle the demands of today's high-performance PC builds. These fully modular units are now available in 1000W and 1200W models, and Thermaltake is offering them in both black and white finishes.

The Toughpower GT series fully complies with the latest ATX 3.1 standard and is designed to support PCIe Gen 5.1 graphics cards right out of the box. These PSUs feature native 12V-2×6 (12+4 pin) PCIe Gen 5 connectors, capable of delivering up to 600W of power to next-gen GPUs via a single cable, providing that essential future-proof connectivity. These units are engineered to withstand power excursions up to 200%, helping ensure system stability even when powerful components demand sudden bursts of energy.

Efficiency is rated at 80 Plus Gold, promising high efficiency under typical loads to help reduce power consumption and heat generation. Cooling is managed by a quiet 120mm hydraulic bearing fan featuring Smart Zero Fan technology, which ensures silent operation by only spinning up when necessary. The fully modular, low-profile flat cables promote better airflow and make wire management significantly easier, contributing to a cleaner build aesthetic.

Backed by a comprehensive suite of industrial-grade protection features (OCP, OVP, UVP, OPP, SCP, and OTP) to safeguard your components and supported by a 5-year warranty, the Toughpower GT 1000W and 1200W models are built to provide reliable, high-efficiency power.

KitGuru says: With modular cables, compliancy with the latest standards and an 80Plus Gold efficiency rating, the Toughpower GT PSUs look to offer everything you'll need on paper.

Phanteks launches new Glacier One D30 X2 AIO liquid coolers

Phanteks is expanding its cooling lineup with a new generation of AIO liquid CPU coolers – the Glacier One D30 X2. Available with radiators up to 420mm long. The new AIOs also ship with Phanteks' signature D30 fans.

The Glacier One D30 X2 utilises Phanteks' D30 fans, which cleverly link together physically, simplifying installation and significantly reducing cable clutter by handling power and D-RGB lighting for multiple fans via a single cable connection. The cooler also features a large copper base paired with an optimised fin array, engineered for efficient heat transfer from even the most demanding CPUs.

Similar to Arctic's Liquid Freezer coolers, Phanteks integrated a small fan into the Evolv X2-inspired brushed aluminium pump cover. This fan provides active cooling to the surrounding motherboard VRMs and M.2 SSDs, contributing to overall system stability and performance. The cooler supports most modern platforms, including Intel LGA 1700, 1200, and 115x sockets, as well as AMD's AM4 and AM5 sockets.

The Glacier One D30 X2 series is available in black and white and will be fully integrated into Phanteks' new Nexlinq ecosystem (RGB lighting and fan control). The 360mm version is priced at £159.90/$179.99/€179.90, while the larger 420mm model, also available in black or white, retails for £169.90/$189.99/€189.90. Phanteks expects these new coolers to be available everywhere starting next month, in May 2025.

KitGuru says: It would be nice to have smaller Glacier One D30 X2 AIO models. However, given that this appears to be Phanteks' new flagship AIO series, it's reasonable to have only chosen the larger radiator sizes. If there's demand, maybe Phanteks could launch the D30 X2 with 240mm and 280mm radiators.

According to All The Watts!!, this mobile series will be split across two GPU dies. The top tier is expected to feature two GPUs built on Navi 48: the rumoured flagship Radeon RX 9080M and the RX 9070M XT. The RX 9080M is tipped to pack the full 64 CUs (4,096 Stream Processors) paired with 16GB of memory. The RX 9070M XT is rumored to come with 48 CUs (3072 SPs) and 12GB of memory.

Bloodlines 2 Dialogues Are Maze-like to Avoid People Beelining for the Good Choices

Bloodlines 2

Now that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has a firm release window of October 2025, new developer The Chinese Room (which replaced Hardsuit Labs a few years ago) has discussed the long-awaited role-playing game sequel in an exclusive interview that appeared in the latest issue of PC Gamer magazine. We ultimately want narrative exploration, so each of those dialogue trees is a kind of maze. So we didn’t want […]

iPhone 17 Air -- All the rumors about Apple's thinnest iPhone yet

Apple is rumored to be shaking up its 2025 iPhone lineup, with a new ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air. Here's what the rumor mill thinks is coming.

Three sleek smartphones in gold, silver, and green, arranged diagonally against a gradient background, featuring minimalist design and single rear cameras.
Apple is expected to debut an ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air or iPhone 17 Slim in 2025.

The long-rumored iPhone 17 Air, or iPhone 17 Slim as it's sometimes called, is set to launch alongside the standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. It will, however, replace the Plus variant of the iPhone, which hasn't seen significant popularity with end consumers.

Just as the iPhone 14 Plus replaced the iPhone 13 mini in 2022, the iPhone 17 Air will appear in place of the Plus model for 2025. Rather than simply being a larger version of the standard iPhone, Apple's new iPhone Air model will focus on thinness above all else.

Intel confirms plans for layoffs

In recent weeks, there have been reports that Intel intends to undergo a wider restructuring that could see its workforce reduced by as much as 20%. While Intel has not yet confirmed any specific numbers, CEO Lip-Bu Tan, has confirmed that layoffs will be taking place soon.

Lip-Bu Tan wants Intel to be a leaner company with a more engineer-first mindset. This process will involve ‘flattening the organisation' to remove “unnecessary bureaucracy”. It has also been noted that management are no longer to focus on team size as a key performance metric.

Speaking more specifcally on the wider lay-offs, Tan said: “There is no way around the fact that these critical changes will reduce the size of our workforce. As I said when I joined, we need to make some very hard decisions to put our company on a solid footing for the future. This will begin in Q2 and we will move as quickly as possible over the next several months.”

Tan adds that Intel will be “very intentional” about where to focus its efforts moving forward as it looks to regain technical leadership.

You can read the full press release, HERE.

KitGuru Says: Intel will be making some big cuts over the next few months. With big launches like the first Intel 18A processors scheduled ahead, we'll have to keep an eye out for any potential roadmap changes.

Razer introduces new Pro Click V2 ergonomic mice with RGB ligthing

Razer is expanding its reach further into the workspace. They've just unveiled two new wireless mice aimed squarely at productivity: the Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition, and the updated Razer Pro Click V2. These mice blend gaming-grade precision with a focus on ergonomic comfort, designed for all-day support without sacrificing performance.

Leading the charge for unique ergonomics is Razer's first vertical wireless mouse, the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition. Its 71.7° angle mimics a natural handshake grip to reduce strain, and the extended thumb rest and base support further enhance comfort and improve wrist posture. The standard Razer Pro Click V2 features a more traditional yet ergonomic 30° inclined angle for a neutral hand position, with comfortable curves and rubberised grips that aid all-day use.

Both Pro Click V2 mice are packed with serious tech. They feature the Razer Focus Pro 30K optical sensor for exceptional precision with 99.8% accuracy, ensuring smooth tracking even on glass. Mechanical switches rated for 60 million clicks provide crisp feedback for demanding tasks. At the same time, Razer's HyperScroll Technology offers versatility with rapid Free-Spin scrolling for documents and tactile cycling for precise control. Perhaps the most unique feature for a productivity mouse is Razer's new AI Prompt Master. This tool streamlines the prompt writing process by providing quick access to popular AI services, such as ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot. Users can instantly rephrase, summarise, or create prompts simply by pressing a dedicated mouse button.

Connectivity is robust, offering 5-way multi-device pairing, including Razer's ultra-low-latency HyperSpeed Wireless, which ensures smooth, lag-free performance across multiple devices, such as PCs, laptops, and tablets. Battery life is quite good, with a five-minute USB-C charge providing up to 2-3 working days of usage. A Smart Dimming feature also helps conserve power. Both models feature multi-zone, full underglow Razer Chroma RGB lighting, allowing for customisable effects that can sync with over 300 compatible games and devices.

The Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition is now available, priced at £119.99/€129.99/$119.99. The standard Razer Pro Click V2 is also available now for £99.00/€109.99/$99.99.

Lexar updates SSD lineup with new three new models

Lexar is expanding its SSD portfolio with the introduction of three new NVMe models. The company is rolling out the Professional NM1090 PRO PCIe 5.0 SSD, the NQ780 M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD, and the NQ700 M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD, all designed to provide the maximum performance on their respective PCIe standards.

Lexar's new flagship is the Professional NM1090 PRO PCIe 5.0 SSD. This drive is designed for those who demand the absolute peak in storage performance, boasting sequential read speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s and write speeds of up to 13,000 MB/s. Powering this speed is a 6nm controller, chosen in part for its ability to efficiently manage heat, promoting more consistent performance under sustained loads. Leveraging features such as dedicated DRAM Cache and SLC dynamic cache, the NM1090 PRO is designed to dramatically increase data transfer speeds, reduce loading times, and enhance overall system responsiveness.

Stepping down in raw speed, but still firmly in the high-performance category, is the NQ780 M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD. This drive is built with premium technology, allowing it to deliver sequential read speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,000 MB/s. The NQ780 features a convenient single-sided design, making it ideal for installation in laptops and compact systems where space can be limited. Its Intelligent Power Control further enhances its suitability for mobile use. Lexar also bundles the useful Lexar DiskMaster SSD management software with the drive, allowing users to update firmware and monitor the health of their storage easily.

Then, in the PCIe 3.0 realm, there's the NQ700 SSD, capable of delivering read speeds of up to 4,500 MB/s and write speeds of up to 3,000 MB/s. Featuring SLC dynamic cache and HMB (Host Memory Buffer), the NQ700 can enhance responsiveness on most systems that still use older SATA drives. Like the NQ780, it supports Lexar DiskMaster to update firmware and monitor the drive's health.

The Professional NM1090 PRO is currently available for purchase in 1TB and 2TB capacities, priced at $179.99 and $269.99, respectively. A larger 4TB option is expected to be added to the lineup later this summer. The NQ780 is now available in three capacities: a 1TB model priced at approximately $79.99, a 2TB option at $149.99, and a spacious 4TB version priced at $289.99. Lastly, the NQ700 will be available in 1TB and 2TB capacities, but pricing hasn't been disclosed yet.

Five years of Apple Silicon, and ten years of Apple Watch on the AppleInsider Podcast

While we'll never stop looking ahead to what's coming, and never stop looking at what's going on right now, it's also time to look back at how much Apple Silicon and the Apple Watch have meant to us all.

A person with silver hair attentively looks at an open laptop, which reflects a soft, colorful light on their face, in a dimly lit room.
Craig Federighi revealing how Apple Silicon MacBook Pro just switches on the instant you open the lid

It's unbelievable that we've had Apple Silicon for half a decade — or the Apple Watch for a whole decade. Both were so strongly rumored for so long before they were announced, and both have become enormous successes since. It would be hard to go back to the pre-Apple Silicon days now, and you wouldn't rush to give up your Apple Watch either.

This week has also seen developers accusing Apple of using bug reports to train AI, though, and there's also plenty to say about what's been happening with Apple Intelligence. Plus Apple is being sued — again — and this time the reasons for it are a lesson for us all about protecting our iPhones and our data.

Apple wants nearly every iPhone 18 sold in the US to come from India

Apple will reportedly dramatically accelerate manufacturing efforts in India, and may try to import nearly every iPhone 18 sold in the US from the country by the end of 2026. There are reasons to be skeptical that this will happen.

Foxconn's iPhone manufacturing facility in Sriperumbudur, India

Apple has been manufacturing iPhones in India for a few years. Opinions vary on how many devices imported to the US come from the country, but if Friday morning's report first made by the Financial Times is accurate, that number will skyrocket in the next 20 months.

While a lofty goal, we're skeptical about the report. At the moment, India produces about 40 million iPhones per year for both local distribution requirements and export — a bit less than a fifth of Apple's global iPhone production.

While Nvidia announced specs and pricing for the RTX 5060 at the same time as the RTX 5060 Ti, the standard edition graphics card has not yet been made available. That should change in a few weeks' time.

According to Videocardz the RTX 5060 will launch on the 19th of May and board partners have been given updated embargo details. If true, we should start hearing more about the RTX 5060 in the weeks ahead. This graphics card is set to be the new entry point to the RTX 50 line-up, with prices starting at $299.

In the table below, you can see RTX 5060 specs, compared with previous-gen RTX x60 series GPUs, as well as the RTX 5060 Ti.

La Quimera Review – Short, But Not Sweet

La Quimera Review

La Quimera is a new story-driven, linear FPS from Reburn, the studio formerly known as 4A Games Ukraine. While 4A Games was initially founded and entirely located in Ukraine, as Reburn chief executive officer Dmytro Lymar explained to Wccftech previously, when the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine in 2014, the studio split between a Ukraine-based team and another based in Malta. But Reburn didn't start developing La Quimera over a decade ago. Development began in 2020, after work on Metro Exodus was complete, and the studio took a new name shortly after Embracer Group acquired 4A Games. Suppose you're like me, […]

The Crew 2 will get offline mode update soon

Last year, Ubisoft sparked backlash after it took its original open-world racing game, The Crew, offline and went as far as removing the game entirely from digital libraries. To avoid making the exact same mistake with The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest, Ubisoft is gearing up to introduce offline modes.

Both The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest will be getting an offline play mode to “ensure long-term access to both titles”. Additionally, the developers have committed to releasing more content for both games in the future. Currently, the offline mode for The Crew 2 is set to begin testing this week. Assuming there are no major problems, the offline mode should roll out to all players in a month or so.

The offline mode for The Crew Motorfest is still on the way, but there is no release timeline yet. The game continues to get seasonal updates and still has years of planned content ahead.

KitGuru Says: It sounds like The Crew Motorfest's offline mode is not a priority right now, but that should change once the offline mode for The Crew 2 has rolled out to all.

Remedy’s first multiplayer game ‘FBC: Firebreak’ releases in June

During a livestream last night, Remedy announced its launch plans for its first multiplayer game – FBC: Firebreak. Set in the Control universe, the game will put players in clean-up squads, tasked with containing anomalies throughout The Oldest House.

The game will be launching on Steam and the Epic Games Store, a notable change from Alan Wake 2, which has remained an Epic Games Store exclusive since launch. The game will also be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Better yet, Remedy will be adding the game to both PlayStation Plus Premium and Xbox Game Pass (PC Game Pass included.

If you do opt to buy the game, it will cost £32.99, and a deluxe edition that includes various skins, sprays, armour sets and voice packs, will cost £7.99. The game officially launches on the 17th of June. So far, no beta has been announced, so it is unclear if there will be an opportunity to test the game before release.

A gameplay trailer for FBC: Firebreak released earlier this week.

KitGuru Says: With it coming to Game Pass, I'll definitely give this a try. Hopefully The Oldest House remains as fun a playground as it was in Control.

Marvel Rivals datamine reveals new hero characters

The Marvel Rivals team has not been shy about teasing future heroes by leaving references in the game files. Through datamining, all of Marvel Rivals' heroes so far have leaked beforehand. This week, another leak has given us further insight into the next wave of playable characters.

XOXLEAK, an account that leaked Oblivion Remastered details earlier this week, and has also leaked Marvel Rivals content previously, has now shared a new set of characters the developers are working on. Hive and Armor are up as potential new tank characters, Amaranth could make an appearance as a DPS hero and finally, White Fox and Forge are up as potential new support role characters.

Datamining gives insight into what the developers are working on, but it is never a 100% guarantee that a certain character will make it into the live game. A few previously datamined characters have already been put on hold for reasons unknown.

XOX also revealed a few other new pieces of content, including new team-up abilities, as well as new cosmetic store bundles.

KitGuru Says: Forge gets a vote from me – I'm always keen to see more X-Men characters.

Marathon gives aim assist to mouse and keyboard players

Bungie has officially begun public playtests for Marathon and players are quickly digging into all aspects of the game. One thing that immediately stood out to many PC gamers was the option to switch on aim assist with a mouse, and as you might expect, this has stirred up quite the debate.

In Marathon, aim assist is available for both controller users and mouse users. It is switched on by default in the Marathon alpha and helps your crosshair stick to moving targets. While this might not be as big of a deal in a PvE focused game like Destiny, Marathon is a competitive game that heavily leans towards PvP action. Typically in a PvP game, we would expect there to be a skill gap, whoever has the faster aim and better recoil control will win the shootout. With the aim assist feature, recoil control is neutralised, taking a significant element of skill out of the game.

The baffling part about this is that Bungie is well known for its ability to make gunplay feel good. Halo became legendary because first and foremost, it was a fantastic shooter. Destiny has survived on the back of its gameplay, rather than story elements, for a decade.

Based on the clips we're seeing from Marathon already, the aim assist function does a lot of heavy lifting, more than what we're used to seeing in games like Call of Duty. A clip from streamer, Shroud, encapsulates this with all of the participants stating that they are ‘aim botting'.

Bungie has not yet commented on the feedback but based on the pushback to aim assist for mouse users, I can't imagine this feature remains in the game at launch.

KitGuru Says: I expect this to be removed, or at the very least, heavily nerfed. With how heavy-handed the aim assist was, it should probably be nerfed a bit on controllers too.

GTA V, InFamous Second Son and more leaving PS Plus in May

Each month, Sony updates its PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium libraries with a number of new and returning titles. Unfortunately, at the same time the company also removes games from the service on a monthly basis – with the likes of GTA V, InFamous Second Son and well over a dozen more titles departing PS Plus in May.

In going to the PlayStation Plus tab on your PS5, you’ll find a list of  titles under the ‘Last Chance to Play’ section. Leaving the service at some point in May are the following:

  • GTA V
  • MotoGP 24
  • Sims 4 Island Living Expansion
  • Walkabout Mini Golf
  • Synth Riders
  • Ghostbusters Rise of the Ghost Lord: Frozen Empire
  • Before Your Eyes
  • The Walking Dead Saints & Sinners + Retribution
  • Lego Marvel Super heroes 2
  • Stranded Alien Dawn
  • Lego Movie 2
  • Ghostrunner
  • Payday 2
  • Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
  • Journey to the Savage Planet
  • Portal Knights
  • Enter the Gungeon
  • Batman Arkham Knight
  • InFamous Second Son
GTA V PS Plus

Easily the biggest game being removed is GTA V, however amongst this list of departees are a number of surprising titles.

Given the fact that InFamous Second Son is a first-party PlayStation title developed by Sucker Punch Productions, its removal from the service makes little sense – especially as this marks the only version of the game available (meaning this isn’t being done in order to add a remastered SKU later on).

Beyond this, other notable titles leaving include the fun first-person open-zone platform shooter ‘Journey to the Savage Planet’; the surprisingly immersive VR title ‘The Walking Dead Saints & Sinners’ and last but not least the fun, fast-paced first-person parkour slasher ‘Ghostrunner’.

While April’s PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium line-up was one of its best in a while, hopefully Sony has some major plans for PS Plus next month in order to make up for the slew of titles leaving the service.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the departing titles? Will you try to complete any of them before they’re gone? How can Sony make up for this next month? Let us know down below.

Metaphor: ReFantazio PC sales “far exceeded” expectations

While predominantly seen as a console-focused studio, ATLUS announced back in 2021 that they wanted to bring more of their titles (past and future) to additional platforms. Since then, we’ve seen the likes of Persona 5, P3R, SMT V and more come to PC – to great success. In discussing last year’s Metaphor: ReFantazio, the team revealed that sales on the platform had “exceeded expectations.”

In an interview conducted by the Japanese publication 4Gamer (and translated by Automaton-Media), the director and creative producer for Metaphor: ReFantazio – Katsura Hashino – spoke on ATLUS’ shift towards simultaneous releases across multiple platforms, saying:

“Even as a developer, I believe that there is much merit in each player being able to enjoy the game in their preferred environment, and I’m glad that we were able to accomplish that.”

Metaphor: ReFantazio PC

This new strategy seems to be paying off, with Hashino revealing that sales for Metaphor: ReFantazio on PC exceeded the team’s expectations. While we’ve not gotten any updated figures in quite some time, the game was confirmed to have been the biggest launch for ATLUS so far, selling over 1 million copies in its first day.

Considering that Metaphor: ReFantazio is a brand new IP, its success across the board is worthy of note – especially given its surprising popularity on PC. Hopefully this means all future ATLUS games will continue to release simultaneously across all platforms.

KitGuru says: What did you think of Metaphor? Was it your 2024 GOTY? Will Persona 6 come to all platforms on day-one? Let us know your thoughts down below.
