Everybody talks about China's push for domestic silicon, but few mention the fact that Europe has been pursuing its own strategy for years, too. Now, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS), through its Barcelona Zettascale Lab (BZL), has reached a significant technical milestone: successful bring-up of a current-generation RISC-V test
Four score and seven years ago, devices like the iPad and Apple Watch did not exist. Fast forward nearly nine decades and we now have access to some fantastic mobile technology. Even better, deals abound on these gadgets ahead of Presidents' Day, so if you're looking to upgrade your aging iPad or Apple Watch (or buy one for the first time),

The classic 3.5-inch hard disk drive seemed to have reached its technological limits long ago. While solid-state drives outperformed it in almost all performance metrics, the HDD remained primarily a cost-effective data storage device. However, with the explosive growth of AI-driven workloads, this picture is changing fundamentally. Hyperscalers and cloud providers are faced with the […]
For more than two decades, the Swift space telescope has been providing crucial insights into some of the most energetic events in the universe. Now, NASA has largely suspended the observatory’s scientific operations in order to stabilize its orbit and buy time for a planned rescue mission. The reason for this is an unexpectedly sharp […]
A DIY project with a powerful message: YouTuber ETA Prime builds a kind of Steam Machine from a mining board – for around $150. The basis is the ASRock BC-250, a relic from the crypto euphoria, equipped with partially defective console chips. The result: surprisingly playable, but technically not a sure-fire success. The once spartan text editor is becoming a potential target for attacks. What used to be little more than a digital notepad is now packed with features – and that is precisely the problem. Microsoft closed the CVE-2026-20841 security vulnerability on Patch Tuesday in February. The CVSS score is 8.8, and the attack complexity is […]
The global CPU market recorded further growth in the fourth quarter of 2025, with the server segment in particular growing significantly faster than the traditional client segment. While shipments of client processors rose by 2.7 percent compared to the previous quarter, server CPUs grew by 6.5 percent over the same period. This continues the more […]
With Mesa 26.0, the free Linux graphics stack is experiencing one of the biggest ray tracing upgrades in recent years. Anyone running a Radeon based on RDNA 3, RDNA 3.5, or RDNA 4 and using the Vulkan driver RADV will see dramatic performance gains in some cases – without the need for new hardware. This […]
Calendar week 7 of 2026 is marked by a very clear pattern in public security reporting: large-scale data leaks and confirmed security incidents are in many cases not caused by exotic zero-day chains, but by the systematic exploitation of organizational weaknesses, particularly in identity services, third-party providers, and internal access control. Also striking is the […]
Sega looks to have a very busy year ahead, as the company recently confirmed in its latest earnings report that it will have four ‘major new titles' releasing between April 2026 and March 2027.
According to Sega, these four games will be from its “mainstay IPs” but so far, none of these titles appear to have been announced. It is likely that a new major Sonic the Hedgehog game is amongst the titles on the list, as it has been four years since the release of Sonic Frontiers.
As VGC points out, other titles that have been announced but do not yet have release dates include the likes of Persona 4 Revival, Stranger than Heaven, a new Total War Warhammer game and Total War Medieval 3.
When Persona 4 Revival was announced last year, we ended up with a very short teaser trailer, so it is unclear if the game is far enough along in development to be considered amongst the four titles. Other major Sega IPs with new games in development include Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage and Alien Isolation.
KitGuru Says: Personally, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for Persona to be amongst the major IPs getting a release over the next year.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, the new fighting game from Arc System Works, finally has a release date. However, despite several playable beta tests already happening, the full game won't be arriving for quite a while yet.
Due to the number of opportunities fans have had to try this game already, we had anticipated a first half of 2026 release date. However, Arc System Works is taking its time to ensure the full roster is balanced and all gameplay sequences are up to the best possible quality bar. As a result, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls isn't releasing until August 2026.
The new trailer for the game, released last night as part of the State of Play showcase, there will be 20 iconic Marvel characters available on the launch-day roster, all reimagined with Japanese style art. Post launch, there will be four additional characters released as DLC.
Some of the confirmed characters appearing in the game include Iron Man, Captain America, Storm, Doctor Doom, Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Wolverine, Star Lord, Magik and Ms Marvel.
KitGuru Says: The same care and attention Arc System Works brought to Dragonball FighterZ is on full display here with Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
For Windows users, Task Manager is an indispensable tool—but it's also a flawed one for those trying to troubleshoot their PC when it slows down, and AppControl looks to improve those scenarios substantially. AppControl is a new application "built for everyday Windows users" which serves as a Task Manager fused with a more in-depth system
Sony's PlayStation State of Play conference has several highlights, but one that particularly sticks out to us is the confirmation of a new John Wick AAA game targeted at PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. John Wick has previously been tackled in some lower-budget titles, but this is the first we've seen of a full-budget adaptation.
The
Let's talk memory form factors, friends. You're surely familiar with DIMMs, and SODIMMs, and maybe you've even fooled around with RDIMMs, or LRDIMMs. Well, the number of memory module formats in the computing world has exploded over the last few years. This isn't an explainer, so we won't go over all of them, but rather we'll focus on the
Walmart is offering Quest 3S for $250 again, $50 off, and it comes with the $50 VR blockbuster Batman: Arkham Shadow.
That's the price for the 128GB base model, and the 256GB storage model is also on sale for $50 off, bringing it down to $350.
As well as including Batman: Arkham Shadow, the offering comes with 3 months of the Horizon+ games subscription, as with all new Quest headset purchases.
Arkham Shadow was officially included with all Quest 3S purchases for the headset's first seven months on the market, though this was effectively extended during multiple sales and honored for any SKUs with the game's logo on the box. The game, which Meta recently canceled the sequel for, earned a 4.5-star rating in our review, and it's a rare example of a truly made-for-VR AAA title.
This is far from the only time we've seen Quest 3S on sale for $250, and over the holidays it even dropped to as low as $200 for Costco members. But it still remains immense value – a fully standalone and wireless VR headset with tracked controllers, hand tracking, and mixed reality for less than the price of a traditional games console.
One consideration you may want to make if you're considering jumping into VR with this deal, however, is whether the higher-end Quest 3 or Valve's upcoming Steam Frame might better suit your needs.
While Quest 3S can run all the same content as Quest 3, and has the same fundamental capabilities (including the same XR2 Gen 2 chipset and 8GB RAM), Quest 3 features Meta's advanced pancake lenses which are clearer and sharper over a wider area, have a wider field of view, and have precise separation adjustment, making them suitable for essentially everyone's eyes. Meanwhile, Steam Frame has a significantly more comfortable design and promises to make wireless PC VR seamless.
But Quest 3 costs twice as much as Quest 3S on sale, and Steam Frame is likely to cost around three times as much. If you're looking to jump into VR on a budget, or gift a friend or loved one, it's impossible to beat the raw value of Quest 3S.
Bungie's Marathon seems to be garnering some good impressions following the most recent playtests. Last night as part of the State of Play showcase, we got our latest look at the game, which has now been reworked with new assets following an artist dispute last year.
The latest trailer for Marathon includes a mix of cinematic and gameplay footage entirely captured on PC, which is interesting given that Bungie is now a PlayStation studio. Just like Destiny, Marathon will be a fully multiplatform title, landing on PC, PS5 and Xbox consoles, complete with crossplay and cross-save functionality.
Marathon is Bungie's foray into the extraction shooter genre and a number of improvements have been added to the game since last year's playtests. Crucially, proximity chat is one of the new additions made to the game after the delay – a feature that many players had insisted should be present at launch.
For those who aren't sold on Marathon as a premium title yet, there will be a new open playtest taking place across all platforms from February 26th to March 2nd, giving you ample time to download and try the game for free before its launch. If you end up enjoying it, then the final, full game will be available from March 5th, so you won't have to wait long between the playtest ending and the final launch. However, this does also mean that some issues present in the playtest version may also not be fixed in time for the final release.
KitGuru Says: I have yet to try Marathon, so I'll give it a go during the upcoming playtest. Are you thinking about picking this game up next month?
For many months now, Metal Gear Solid fans have been left wondering about the status of the Master Collection Vol 2. Last night, Konami finally made its plans clear, with the second Metal Gear Solid Master Collection officially coming out later this year.
The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1 gave fans an easy way to jump back in and play the classic games in the series, including Metal Gear (1987), Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The second Master Collection is quite a bit smaller by comparison.
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2 will include Metal Gear Solid 4: Funs of the Patriots, marking the very first time that this game has been made playable outside of the PlayStation 3 platform. On top of that, Vol 2 buyers will also get Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker.
Prior to this announcement, fans had expected Vol 2 to also include Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zero and Metal Gear Solid 5, even if those more modern titles didn't have any extra graphical touch-ups. With that said, both games are more than ten years old at this point and are very cheap to pick up on most platforms, including Steam.
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2 will launch on the 27th of August.
KitGuru Says: Are you looking forward to the Master Collection Vol 2? Will this be your very first time experiencing Metal Gear Solid 4?
Sony had a pretty big surprise announcement in store for fans during last night's State of Play showcase. The original God of War trilogy is making a comeback, remade from the ground up.
While God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok brought the series to new heights through cinematic storytelling, many fans do miss the original hack and slash games in the series. Soon, fans new and old will be able to experience those original games with revamped graphics:
Fans will also be pleased to see that TC Carson, the original voice actor for Kratos, is returning for the remake project, although it is unclear if other characters will retain their original voice actors as well.
While the more recent God of War titles focused on Norse mythology, the original trilogy was entirely set in Greek mythology, with Kratos taking on a series of gods, from Zeus to Poseidon.
Unfortunately, no footage of the remake was shown in the trailer, but the remakes are now in active development, so we will hopefully get a better look at them in the next couple of years.
KitGuru Says: Are you excited to see the original God of War trilogy brought back? For many PC players, this could be their first time ever experiencing the original Kratos story.
Saber Interactive had one of the biggest announcements during last night's State of Play showcase. The studio is now working on a AAA John Wick game and yes, Keanu Reeves will be reprising his role for it.
The John Wick films have been some of the best and most successful action movies of the past decade. While there has been one indie game utilising the IP, there has yet to be a full-scale AAA game starring our favourite unretired assassin. Saber's game is currently only known as ‘untitled John Wick game', and the trailer is primarily cinematic, although the text claims there is some gameplay footage sprinkled in:
This game is in development for current-generation consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC. That indicates that the developers are targeting a launch within the next few years, as there could be new generation console hardware after 2028.
The game will feature an original gameplay narrative set in the John Wick timeline years before the Impossible Task. It will expand on the franchise’s lore during that time with familiar characters fans already know and love, as well as compelling new ones created specifically for this production.
KitGuru Says: There is still a lot to learn about this game, including its final title, but if you are a fan of John Wick, this is something to look forward to in the coming years.
Last night during the State of Play showcase, IO Interactive revealed the latest trailer for its next major game – 007 First Light, giving us a new look at the James Bond origin story.
The story trailer sets the stage for a global adventure, as Bond is recruited into MI6 and enters the world of espionage, full of hidden agendas and unseen threats. The trailer offers early glimpses of Bond’s exploits in Iceland, prior to joining the 00 ranks.
Over the course of the early game, Bond discovers an unexpected advocate in M, who recognises his potential as an agent able to take control of desperate situations and complete his objectives. John Greenway, a former 00 agent and the programme’s training instructor, stands in contrast to Bond as a disciplined, by-the-book operative.
Despite their differences, Bond and Greenway are forced to work together to take down a rogue operative, 009. This mission will take players from the quiet Carpathian Mountains to the dangerous black market of Aleph, as well as a number of other key locations.
007 First Light launching on May 27th 2026 for PC and consoles.
KitGuru Says: Are you looking forward to 007 First Light?
As expected, last night shortly before the State of Play showcase went live, Sony revealed this month's new batch of games for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers. Just as leaks predicted, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is the headlining game, but there are many others to look forward to as well.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 launched in 2023, five years after the breakout success of Insomniac's original Spider-Man game and three years after the smaller standalone game, Miles Morales. While this sequel was very well received, it wasn't quite as beloved as the original, in part due to a lot of forced character and perspective switching throughout the campaign. Still, it has some incredible highlight moments and fans of the original will want to play the sequel in preparation for Spider-Man 3.
The full list of titles joining PlayStation Plus Extra this month includes:
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown PS5
Neva PS5, PS4
Season: A Letter to the Future PS5, PS4
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin PS4
Monster Hunter Stories PS4
Venba PS5
Echoes of the End: Enhanced Edition PS5
Rugby 25 PS5, PS4
And finally, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will also get access to one new classic game – Disney Pixar's Wall-E.
KitGuru Says: Will you be installing any of this month's new PlayStation Plus Extra titles?
A couple of years back, Motion Twin and Evil Empire teamed up with Konami to bring Castlevania content to their hit rougelike Dead Cells. Now fast forward to 2026 and the two studios are now collaborating with Konami once again, this time for an official Castlevania game.
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is the first new Castlevania game since 2014. The game is set in 1499 Paris, where Trevor Belmont's successor wields the Vampire Killer to take down new supernatural forces.
While the game was announced during Sony's State of Play showcase, it is not a PS5 exclusive and will also be coming to PC, Nintendo Switch and Xbox.
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse does not yet have a full release date but it is due to come out later this year.
KitGuru Says: Considering the success of the Castlevania Dead Cells DLC, I imagine this game will also do quite well.
