After the latest bout of trade turmoil with the United States, European leaders are looking for ways to project strength to the Trump administration, which considers them weak.
Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, said in a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, that the E.U. response to U.S. aggression would be “unflinching, united and proportional.”
