Infinity Nikki is coming to PC, PS5 and mobile on December 5th

PaperGames has announced that Infinity Nikki will officially be available on PC (Epic Games), PS5, and mobile platforms on December 5th. To celebrate the announcement, the developers have unveiled a brand-new trailer and the official system requirements to play the upcoming title on PC.

Infinity Nikki invites players to immerse themselves in an open world where creativity and style take centre stage. As the titular character, Nikki, players will be able to dress her in a wide range of outfits, each granting her unique talents and abilities. The game has already garnered significant attention, with over 30 million pre-registrations.

In this world, Nikki and her sidekick Momo will traverse the diverse regions of Miraland, each rich with its own culture and history. Players will encounter a multitude of characters and creatures, engage in challenges, and solve puzzles as they embark on their adventures together.

For those looking to gear up for the game, the Epic Games Store shared the minimum and recommended system requirements. Players will need at least an Intel Core i5 (9th generation) or an AMD Ryzen 3600, alongside 16 GB of RAM. Graphics requirements include either an Nvidia GTX 1060 or an AMD Radeon RX 5500XT, with an additional 50 GB of free storage required. For the best experience, the developers recommend upgrading to an Intel Core i7 (9th generation) or AMD Ryzen 5500, also with 16 GB of RAM, paired with an Nvidia RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600XT GPU.

At this time, Infinity Nikki is exclusively available on PC via the Epic Games Store, with no current listings on platforms like Steam. This exclusivity may be attributed to the game's development using Unreal Engine 5. Based on the PlayStation Store listing, the games will cost £7.99/$9.99/€9.99, and pre-ordering will give the following bonus content: In-game item for resonance: 3x “Resonite Crystal,” 20000 in-game currency: “Bling,” 50x crafting materials for Outfits: “Thread of Purity,” 10x growth materials for Outfits: “Shiny Bubble,” and 2x growth materials for Eurekas: “Shining Particle.”.

Blizzard looks to be hiring for a StarCraft shooter

We all remember the tragedy that was StarCraft: Ghost, Blizzard's long-cancelled shooter. However, it would seem that the dream of a StarCraft shooter is still alive and well.

Earlier this year, Jason Schreier revealed that former Far Cry lead, Dan Hay, had set up a team at Blizzard to experiment with new ideas for a StarCraft shooter. Now, Blizzard seems to have a plan in place and is actively hiring for the project.

Now, Blizzard has begun hiring for multiple job roles, calling for designers for an unannounced “open-world shooter game”. The job description does not directly name StarCraft, but given the news from earlier this year, it seems likely that this is for the StarCraft project.

Another candidate for this could have been Blizzard's survival game. However, that project was unfortunately cancelled around the time Microsoft acquired the company.

KitGuru Says: Fans have been wanting a StarCraft shooter for a long time, and as we are unlikely to see another high-budget RTS StarCraft game, moving the franchise into new genres is really the only way to keep it alive.

Phil Spencer says Xbox will continue making dedicated consoles

In recent years, Microsoft has focused on expanding the Xbox brand beyond its own locked-down console hardware. The company has begun trying to make the Xbox name synonymous with PCs, Smart TVs, Cloud Gaming, Smartphones and more. This has led to rumours that Microsoft may not make dedicated consoles for much longer, but Phil Spencer says that is not the case.

Microsoft Gaming CEO, Phil Spencer, spoke with Rolling Stone this week, as the company has spun up its holiday season marketing campaign, one that sends the specific message that Xbox is more than just a console. Despite moving beyond consoles, Spencer says there are still plans for future Xbox consoles, as well as other hardware.

“We’ll definitely do more consoles in the future”, Spencer said. However, an incremental mid-gen refresh, like the new PS5 Pro, is not on the table: “We think about hardware that can create unique value for our players or creators on our platform. We don’t need to do incremental hardware for our own benefit.”

According to leaked documents from the FTC v Microsoft trial revealed that Microsoft's next-generation Xbox console should launch in 2028 as an all-digital console. Microsoft is also working on its own Xbox handheld gaming system, as well as a cheap TV stick that enables Xbox Cloud Gaming directly to any HDMI-equipped display.

KitGuru Says: We may get one more Xbox generation, but I could see both Microsoft and Sony abandoning the consumer hardware market in the 2030s, instead focusing on cloud solutions and PCs.

Splinter Cell live-action movie cancelled

Ubisoft has been trying to break the cross-media barrier for years but has found little success. The Division movie has been trapped in development hell for years, and the Assassin's Creed movie wasn't exactly a hit. A Splinter Cell film has also been in planning for years but after multiple attempts to nail down the concept, the idea has been scrapped.

The Splinter Cell movie will no longer see the light of day. The film, which was set to star Tom Hardy as Sam Fisher, had gone through many changes, according to producer, Basil Iwanyk, but difficulties perfecting the script and keeping the budget reasonable ultimately led to its cancellation.

Speaking with The Direct, Iwanyk said: “That movie would have been awesome. We just couldn't get it right, script-wise, budget-wise. But it was going to be great. We had a million different versions of it, but it was going to be hardcore and awesome. That's one of the ones that got away, which is really sad.”

While the live-action Splinter Cell movie isn't coming to fruition, a new animated adaptation is coming to Netflix in 2025, titled Splinter Cell: Deathwatch.

KitGuru Says: I don't think many fans would be happy going to see a movie for a game series that has long been abandoned by Ubisoft at this stage. Until Splinter Cell is back at the forefront of stealth-action games, a movie shouldn't even be in consideration.

Avowed PC system requirements announced

With pre-orders for Avowed now live, Obsidian has updated the game's Steam page to include PC system requirements. These are early system requirements, with simple ‘minimum' and ‘recommended' specs, but we expect a more detailed set of PC requirements closer to launch for those looking to play at 60+ FPS at higher resolutions.

Typically, minimum and recommended PC system requirements target 1080p/Low and 1080p/High although in this instance, the recommended specs are quite demanding, particularly on the GPU side. I find it hard to imagine that this game would need an RTX 3080 to run at 1080p.

Here are the current PC system requirements for the game:

Minimum Recommended
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 2600 / Intel Core i5 8400 AMD Ryzen 5 5600 X / Intel Core i7 10700K
RAM 16GB 16GB
GPU AMD RX 5700 / Nvidia GTX 1070 / Intel Arc A580 AMD RX 6800 XT / Nvidia RTX 3080
DirectX Version 12 Version 12
Storage 75 GB available space 75 GB available space

Avowed is scheduled to release in February 2025. The game was originally due to release in November 2024, but due to an overcrowded release schedule from Xbox, Obsidian's new RPG was pushed back a bit to give it some breathing room.

KitGuru Says: Will you be picking up Avowed when it drops next year? Will you be buying it on Steam, or playing through Game Pass?

Sharkoon further expands into the gaming chair market with the OfficePal C10 and C20

Sharkoon might not be the first name that comes to mind when talking about gaming chairs, but in the last few years, the company has been gradually expanding into this market. Recently, it introduced two new models: the OfficePal C10 and the OfficePale C20.

The OfficePal C10 is aimed at anyone who spends extended hours at their desk, whether in a corporate environment or at home. This ergonomic chair is designed with various adjustable features that allow users to personalise to their liking. The OfficePal C10 boasts a mesh backrest that provides essential support and promotes airflow to keep you comfortable, regardless of the temperature or humidity. This is complemented by a cushioned seat base that enhances comfort over long periods of use to ensure you remain comfortably seated.

Customisation is at the heart of the OfficePal C10's appeal. Users can easily adjust the seat height and tilt angle. Plus, the chair is equipped with a 3D-adjustable headrest and lumbar support, which can be modified in three different ways to provide support aligned with your sitting posture. Armrest height is also adjustable, allowing for healthy and comfortable arm positioning. With a robust nylon five-star base and a class-4 gas lift piston, the C10 supports weights of up to 100 kg. Mobility is equally good, as the OfficePal C10 features 60mm wheels that facilitate smooth movement around your workspace.

For those seeking even greater customisation, the OfficePal C20 expands upon the C10’s offerings. This chair allows for adjustments not only to the height and tilt angle but also to the seat depth, headrest, and lumbar support, accommodating users weighing up to 135 kg. Both models are now available, with the C10 costing €149.90 and the C20 going for €189.90 for the C20.

KitGuru says: Of the two, which Sharkoon OfficePal chairs do you prefer?

Overclocker sets new world record with 12,527 MT/s DDR5 RAM

Kingston and MSI recently set a remarkable benchmark by achieving an impressive 12,196 MT/s a few days ago. Now, that record has been eclipsed thanks to a collaboration between ASRock and V-Color, who have pushed the limits even further. First, it pushed the new DDR5 frequency record to 12,264 MT/s. A day later, this record increased to 12,350 MT/s. As if that wasn't enough, the record was broken once again, this time setting at 12,527 MT/s.

About ten days after the DDR5-12196 record, professional overclocker AKM was able to clock a V-Color memory module to DDR5-12264. However, there was still room to push it beyond that, as another overclocker, saltycroissant, was able to squeeze a few extra MT/s and set the new record at DDR5-12350. Today, the record was broken once again, as AKM pushed it to DDR5-12527.

The new frequency record was accomplished with V-Color Manta Xfinity DDR5 memory on a two-DIMM-slot ASRock Z890 OC Formula. This configuration used a single 24 GB UDIMM memory stick running at CL52, paired with a quad-core (2x P-cores + 2x E-cores) setup from the Core Ultra 9 285K CPU running at below stock clock speeds. As with most extreme overclocking procedures, liquid nitrogen was used to cool the memory.

KitGuru says: Do you think there's still room to push DDR5 memory frequency even further with what's currently available?

Castlevania Anniversary Collection is free on the Epic Games Store

Each week, all those with an Epic Games account are privy to a title or two for free as part of the publisher’s ‘Free Game’ program. This week, EGS account holders can add the indie puzzler Snakebird alongside the Castlevania Anniversary Collection.

Available to add to your library from now until the 21st of November at 4PM UK Time, this week’s free Epic Games titles include the following:

  • Snakebird Complete
  • Castlevania Anniversary Collection

Of course, the headlining game is the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, which was first released back in 2019 and features 8 games from the series’ past – alongside some bonus behind-the-scenes content.

Snakebird Complete meanwhile features over 120 different levels to navigate and solve, introducing new “quality-of-life improvements and game-features addition for a modern and seamless experience, including an overhauled map system to navigate between islands from both titles directly from the game.”

As always, you have a week to claim these titles and add them to your library – at which point these free games will be replaced by the narrative-focused adventure strategy title ‘Beholder’.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Steam demo available now

Shin Megami Tensei is the original series which helped set developer ATLUS on its current path – with the JRPG franchise getting a spin-off in the form of the even-more-popular Persona series. Those who have yet to give the latest SMT entry a try can now do so for free, as a demo for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance has now gone live.

Available right now on Steam (and set to come to PS5 later today), a demo for the 2021 JRPG Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance has been made available for all to try out – in case you were still hesitant to pick it up.

The demo features quite a bit of content, with players able to experience the full opening, including the choice between two story paths and the ability to complete 4 story bosses and up to 20 side quests.

Shin Megami Tensei demo

As with many demos nowadays, your progress will be saved and transferred over to the full game should you choose to purchase it.

With Shin Megami Tensei V having only come to PC earlier this Summer (after a multi-year-long exclusivity period on the Switch), this should offer more than enough to help you decide whether SMT V is for you or not.

KitGuru says: Will you be checking out the game? Do you prefer SMT or Persona? Should more games release demos – even after they’ve launched? Let us know down below.

The Rogue Prince of Persia to get visual overhaul in upcoming update

The Rogue Prince of Persia launched in Early Access back in late May to a positive reception, owing to the rogue-like’s fun and satisfying gameplay. One of its most controversial aspects however was its art style – which has now been completely revamped as part of the game’s upcoming update.

Set to arrive on the 21st of November, The Rogue Prince of Persia’s ‘Second Act’ update is its biggest yet, adding:

  • More biomes
  • More bosses
  • New story act + tons of narrative polish for Act 1
  • New enemies
  • Many Quality of Life additions including multiple save slots & more
  • German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish localisation

By far the most interesting change/addition however is the alteration of the game’s art style – giving it a complete overhaul. As described by Evil Empire themselves, the team have “changed the colour palettes, had much more detail added and just generally improved” the game’s overall art direction.

Perhaps the most obvious change can be seen with the Prince himself, who is no longer shaded with a purple skin tone – as it “just didn't fit with the new direction.”

With this update, The Rogue Prince of Persia is said to now feature double the amount of content compared to its early access launch, and so there will be plenty to get stuck into when the update (alongside a sale) arrives on the 21st of November.

KitGuru says: Are you looking forward to the update? What do you think of the art style change? Did you like the more unique original colour palette? Let us know down below.

Avowed will be published to Battle net at launch

Avowed is one of Microsoft's biggest first-party games with a confirmed release date. Set to launch on the 18th of February, the game is of course going to be made available across the likes of Steam and the Windows Store. Interestingly, this Obsidian Entertainment title is also going to be added to Activision Blizzard’s Battle net launcher.

As part of their latest blog post detailing the game’s revised release date of the 18th of February, Shyla Schofield – the Senior Communications Manager at Obsidian Entertainment – revealed that alongside its upcoming launch on the Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox app on Windows and Steam, Avowed will also be available to purchase via Activision Blizzard’s Battle.net launcher.

Avowed Battle net

Of course, with the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft, this move perhaps is not too surprising.

That said, given the fact that the launcher primarily served Activision Blizzard back when they were ‘independent’, the addition of Avowed to the platform (especially as it isn’t an Activision Blizzard title) is an interesting move.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this added embrace of Battle net? Why do you think Microsoft is doing this (aside from wanting to avoid Steam platform fees)? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Cooler Master has officially launched the Hyper 411 Nano, the latest product in its esteemed Hyper series of CPU air coolers. Designed to elevate cooling performance, the Hyper 411 Nano introduces several advanced features that appeal to gamers and PC enthusiasts alike.

The Hyper 411 Nano's direct-contact heat pipe design features four heat pipes seamlessly connected to the cooling base and the aluminium fin stack. Measuring 102x85x136mm (LxWxH), it packs a 92mm PWM fan that spins from 650 to 2500 RPM to generate up to 45.14 CFM of airflow at a maximum pressure of 3.25mmH2O, rated at 30.04 dBA noise level.

Installation is made hassle-free with user-friendly clips for easy fan attachment. This feature is particularly appealing for DIY builders looking for a smooth setup experience. Designed for versatility, the Hyper 411 Nano is compatible with the latest processors from both AMD (AMD4 and AM5 sockets) and Intel (LGA 1851, 1700, 1200, 1151, 1150, 1155, and 1156 sockets).

Aesthetically, the Hyper 411 Nano does not disappoint. Its modern, all-black design offers a sleek look, allowing it to blend into any gaming rig or workstation setup. The Hyper 411 Nano is already available in select markets, and the ARGB version is set to debut in Q1 2025, promising to add even more flair to your build.

KitGuru says: According to the spec sheet, the Hyper 411 Nano could be a good solution for compact systems. However, it won't be ideal for cooling high TDP CPUs like the Core i9-14900K.

Solidigm unveils world’s largest PCIe SSD

Solidigm is looking to solidify its leadership position in the storage market with a new high-capacity SSD. The new D5-P5336 SSD boasts a whopping 122TB of storage space, making it the world's highest capacity PCIe SSD.

Data storage power, thermal and space constraints are accelerating as AI adoption increases, and with the AI market still in boom, billions are being spent on upgrading datacentres to accelerate further AI development. Solidigm's new PCIe SSD could help datacentre operators to reduce the number of drives, freeing up rack space and reducing energy consumption.

With a whopping 122TB of space for drive, the D5-P5336 PCIe SSD is currently the highest capacity PCIe SSD in the world and consumes up to 84 percent less power compared to a NAS deployment. With so much storage packed into one drive, one rack unit can contain as much as 4 petabytes of storage, making it an excellent upgrade choice for space-constrained sites.

Unfortunately, this isn't a drive intended for the average consumer, or even enthusiast-level PC builders. Due to this, we don't actually know the pricing for these SSDs, but businesses can enquire with Solidigm for quotes.

KitGuru Says: You could install your entire Steam library on one of these and still have plenty of room to spare…

Horizon multiplayer spin-off coming 2025, job listing suggests

It looks like Guerrilla Games' next title could be just around the corner. The studio has been working on multiplayer concepts for the Horizon series since its inception, and now, the long-rumoured Horizon multiplayer game may finally release in 2025.

As spotted by JorRaptor, Guerrilla Games recently put up job listings seeking additional QA staff for an upcoming release. QA is the last step in game development, where testers root out bugs and flag them to be fixed ahead of release. These bugs are often ranked in order of severity, with the most game-breaking issues getting fixed ahead of other bugs that can be considered ‘minor'.

The job listing itself specifically calls for availability in the first half of 2025, which would indicate that Guerrilla Games is in the final stages of work on its next game.

While the Horizon multiplayer spin-off is not officially announced to be Guerrilla Games' next title, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier previously reported that this will be the next release from the studio, rather than a sequel to Horizon Forbidden West, which launched on PS5 in early 2022.

A gameplay leak earlier this year revealed what the Horizon multiplayer game may look like, but Sony has not yet officially announced the game. If it really is releasing in 2025, then we should get our first look within the next few months.

KitGuru Says: I'm not convinced that a Horizon multiplayer game is even a good idea, but I'll reserve judgement for the game's eventual reveal. Do you think the Horizon multiplayer spin-off will be a success?

APNX launches new V1 dual-chamber mid-tower

APNX has unveiled the APNX V1, a mid-tower case that balances design with high-performance cooling capabilities. With its dual-chamber structure and panoramic view, the V1 is not just a component housing but a piece that enhances any gaming setup or professional workspace.

Engineered for optimal airflow, the V1 features a 45° angled front intake, channelling cool air directly to both the GPU and CPU. The thoughtfully designed fan mount allows for versatile cooling solutions, accommodating up to two 160mm fans, two 140mm fans, or three 120mm fans. This is enhanced by the top and side panels, promoting ventilation while ensuring the V1 maintains its aesthetic. The flexible motherboard location adds to the design’s efficiency, allowing it to focus on GPU ventilation or extra space for larger radiators.

The APNX V1 promises exceptional cooling potential. It is compatible with a wide range of cooling hardware, including up to ten fans, three 360mm radiators, and a 170mm air cooler. Assembly is a breeze, thanks to the tool-less design that allows the front, top, and side panels to lock and snap into place effortlessly and the quick-release bracket design for the fans. Detachable filters on the bottom, sides, and front, plus a built-in top filter, prevent dust from getting in the case.

Aesthetic choices are plentiful, as the V1 comes in classic black, white, or a black-and-white combination. For those looking to add a touch of elegance, there are three special versions that feature wood-accented panels crafted from solid ash or walnut. Moreover, cable management is streamlined with integrated fasteners and rubber channels to ensure a clean build. The case also supports large graphics cards up to 395mm thanks to an adjustable GPU mount that allows you to adjust height and swivel angle. Storage options are also plentiful, with a user-friendly hinged bracket accommodating up to 6x 2.5-inch SSDs or a mix of 2x 3.5-inch HDDs and 4x 2.5-inch SSDs. The APNX V1 is now available with a price range of $119.9/€129.9 to $149.9/€159.9.

KitGuru says: If you were to get an APNX V1, which colour option would you choose? Would you want it with or without the wood-accented intake panel?

After 20 years, World of Warcraft is getting player housing

Player housing is a staple of the MMORPG genre, giving long-term players their own private space to decorate as they see fit. This has been hugely successful for MMOs like Final Fantasy 14, but Blizzard has never explored such a system for World of Warcraft. That has finally changed, with the game finally set to get its own player housing system.

As part of the next World of Warcraft expansion, titled “Midnight”, players will be able to buy their own homes and show them off to other players. The feature has already been in development for a while now, but Blizzard is now officially announcing it in order to gather fan feedback on what players want from a WoW housing system. This will give the developers a chance to pivot if they've skipped over a crucial feature.

As you can see in the image above, Blizzard has also shown its new roadmap for 2025, which confirms that the team plans to officially reveal the World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion next summer. The new expansion is part of a trilogy known as the Worldsoul Saga, which kicked off with last year's release of The War Within.

We'll have to wait around six months to really get a proper look at World of Warcraft: Midnight and the new player housing update. Hopefully, the expansion is on track to release in late 2025.

KitGuru Says: This is the sort of thing that would have been great to have back in WoW's heyday, when it was known as the biggest social game. Nowadays, a lot of MMO players are more solo-minded, but perhaps more systems like this can encourage random groups to form more often.

Blizzard unveils Warcraft 1&2 Remastered and major Warcraft 3 patch

Last night, Blizzard held its Warcraft 30th Anniversary stream and just as predicted, the company did indeed reveal a new remaster for its original RTS, Warcraft: Orcs & Humans. That wasn't all though, there is also a remaster for Warcraft 2, and even a major update for Warcraft 3: Reforged.

The Warcraft 1 & 2 remasters are already available via Battle.net. The new versions of the games feature new hand-drawn art, HD assets and UI improvements. Warcraft 1 in particular will see a big control update, improving game speed and adding a right-click to move option. Players of both remasters will also be pleased to know that they can now select more units to move around compared to the original games.

A big patch for Warcraft 3: Reforged, which was Blizzard's worst-rated game of all time, will overhaul the game's lighting and environments, and the game will also get additional UI improvements. Hopefully after this update, Warcraft 3: Reforged will be a bit more palatable to fans who were disappointed by the game at launch.

All three classic Warcraft RTS remasters also include a graphics toggle, so you can easily switch between modern and classic graphics modes. A bundle including all three games, as well as the original versions of Warcraft 1 & 2, is now available on Battle.net for £34.99.

KitGuru Says: I missed out on the Warcraft RTS games back in the day, as I was much more enamoured with Age of Empires, Age of Mythology and Empire Earth. Hopefully, these remasters will be a good introduction to the classic games for newcomers like myself.

GeForce Now adds nine more games this week

Today sees nine more games joining GeForce Now, including additional Call of Duty titles, like Black Ops Cold War and COD: Vanguard. This week also sees the addition of new Game Pass titles to the GFN library.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was a somewhat rushed game. Originally, it wasn't going to be a Black Ops title, but due to issues behind the scenes, Activision was forced to move the project over to Treyarch to meet deadlines. Still, the game did go on to find success thanks to a good selection of multiplayer maps and a decent, blockbuster campaign. Vanguard was a better title in my opinion, with it being the most recent ‘World War' era COD game, although its campaign does not reach the same heights as Call of Duty: WWII.

Here are the five games joining GeForce Now this week:

  • Farming Simulator 25 (New release on Steam, Nov. 12)
  • Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age (New release on Steam, Nov. 12)
  • Industry Giant 4.0 (New release Steam, Nov. 15)
  • Ara: History Untold (Steam and Xbox, available on PC Game Pass)
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (Steam and Battle.net)
  • Call of Duty: Vanguard (Steam and Battle.net)
  • Magicraft (Steam)
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (Steam and Xbox, available on PC Game Pass)
  • Spyro Reignited Trilogy (Steam and Xbox, available on PC Game Pass)

Oddly, STALKER 2 is not mentioned here, despite that game being a day-one title for Game Pass on Xbox and PC. Hopefully we'll get some clarity on that next week.

KitGuru Says: What do you think of this week's GeForce Now update?

Xbox head reveals reason behind Avowed delay

Obsidian's new fantasy RPG, Avowed, was originally planned to release this year. In fact, we should be playing the game right now. However, months after announcing the release date, Microsoft made the decision to delay the game. Now, Xbox head, Phil Spencer, has revealed the reason behind the delay.

As we've heard previously, the Avowed delay had nothing to do with quality concerns, or issues with the game. In fact, it sounds like the game didn't need more time at all. Instead, Avowed was pushed back to February 2025 in order to not overcrowd Microsoft's late 2024 release schedule.

In order to ensure Avowed doesn't get lost amongst the flurry of new games releasing in Q4, including Xbox's own major releases like Black Ops 6 and Indiana Jones, Avowed was moved from late 2024 to February 2025. Speaking on the decision, Phil Spencer said the following in an interview with Game File:

“We didn’t move it because Obsidian needed the time. They’ll use the time. Matt Booty and I, we plan it out, we talk with the Game Pass team. We said, ‘Okay, let’s make sure we pace this out a little better’.”

Spencer has spoken previously about wanting a major exclusive for Game Pass every quarter. When a situation arises where multiple projects are ready to release in close proximity, it makes sense to spread them out a bit to achieve that goal.

KitGuru Says: I was disappointed Avowed was delayed as that was my big Q4 game, but February isn't too far off. Will you be picking up Avowed when it releases next year?

GOG kicks off Game Preservation Program with over 100 titles

The team at GOG has done fantastic work over the years bringing DRM-free games to the masses. Now, they are kicking this up a notch with the GOG Preservation Program, which aims to maintain classic games to ensure they continue to run on modern PCs. Over 100 titles are already included in the program with various improvements supplied by GOG.

GOG is going all-in on its game preservation efforts. The lack of DRM on GOG titles already ensures easy access to games well into the future. However, now, GOG is also committed to delivering improvements to keep these classic games accessible as hardware and operating systems like Windows, continue to mature.

Some of the classics included in the GOG Preservation Program include hits like Heroes of Might and Magic 3, Diablo, Warcraft, Riven, Myst, Alpha Protocol, Resident Evil 1-3, Carmageddon, Empire Earth, X-COM: UFO Defense, Earthworm Jim, Ultima, Legacy of Kain and more.

For titles included in the program, GOG will make sure the games are still compatible with modern operating systems, like Windows 11, and provide fixes or improvements where needed. For instance, various issues with the classic Resident Evil games have been fixed in the GOG version. Other titles have had additional localisations added, making the game playable in more languages, and in some cases, GOG has made renderer improvements and fixed cutscenes.

You can find all of GOG's Preservation Program titles, as well as patch notes with details on updates, HERE.

KitGuru Says: GOG is a true gem in an industry that is often trying to lock down software and leave games lost in time.

AGON by AOC is raising the bar again with its latest creation: the AGON Pro AG276FK. This 27-inch Full HD gaming monitor boasts a Fast IPS panel and an astonishing refresh rate of 520Hz, making it one of the first monitors with these specs to be released.

The AGON Pro AG276FK's foundation is its advanced 27-inch Fast IPS panel, which delivers a Full HD resolution with a 520 Hz refresh rate and response times of up to 0.5 ms GtG and 0.3 ms MPRT. With a peak brightness of 400 nits and DisplayHDR 400 certification, this monitor offers a basic HDR experience. The inclusion of Adaptive-Sync technology combats screen tearing and stuttering, fostering a smooth and responsive play environment.

Packed with gamer-centric features, the AG276FK offers an array of pre-calibrated gaming modes optimised for various genres, allowing quick transitions between colour presets. Additional features such as the built-in Frame Counter and Shadow Control allow players to monitor their performance and enhance their visual experience. Moreover, an on-screen display (OSD) menu provides rapid access to essential gaming settings.

The monitor also incorporates the latest Motion Blur Reduction (MBR) and MBR Sync technologies to enhance motion clarity in competitive scenarios. MBR Sync combines the benefits of backlight strobing technology with variable refresh rate compatibility, granting gamers a clean, tear-free experience. A Low Input Lag mode further optimises the device by bypassing unnecessary visual processing, ensuring the fastest response to player inputs.

The AGON Pro AG276FK features a highly adjustable stand with 130 mm height adjustment, tilt, swivel, and pivot options, complemented by a sleek, low-profile design. This ensures optimal positioning during intense gaming sessions. Connectivity options are plentiful, featuring two HDMI 2.0 connectors, two DisplayPorts 1.4, and a USB hub with four USB 3.2 ports. The AGON Pro AG276FK is set for release this month with an MSRP of £499.99.

KitGuru says: Driving a consistent 520 FPS in an FHD monitor isn't for all systems, but for those who can, the AGON Pro AG276FK is a monitor worth considering for those who favour smoothness over resolution.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP sales have exceeded expectations

Lollipop Chainsaw is a highly interesting video game. Released back in 2012, the hack-and-slash title was the brainchild of video game director Suda51 and famed film writer/director James Gunn. Over a decade on from its release, a remaster (in the form of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP) finally dropped back in September – to higher-than-expected sales.

As reported by the Japanese publication Gamebiz (and translated by Automaton), Dragami Games’ parent company ‘Extreme’ published their latest fiscal earnings report, revealing that the recently-released Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has “significantly exceeded initial sales targets.”

The success of the remaster has helped to raise the company’s overall revenue forecast for the year, with a projected 5.9% increase in net sales and a 52.1% boost to net profit – though we did not get any concrete sales figures for the title itself.

Given the fact that the last-gen version of RePOP is set to arrive next month, it’s possible that future projections might need to be re-evaluated once again. We will have to wait and see.
