Bethesda seeks fan feedback for future Oblivion Remastered updates

Oblivion Remastered has been out for one week now and while the game has launched to a positive reception, there is still some room for improvement. Now, Bethesda is turning to the fans for suggestions on new additions to the game.

The suggestions are being taken over on the Bethesda Studios Discord channel. Players are already calling for an extra difficulty level, as there seems to be plenty of wiggle room between Adept and Expert difficulty levels. Others want UI tweaks, such as the ability to see current weight and your maximum carrying capacity while looting, or adding a ‘cleared' tag over dungeons you have already explored.

Some other suggestions popping up include unlocking the character creator so you can make adjustments to your player model after exiting the prologue, various little quest bugs and a way to improve the item level of unique gear in the game.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is available now for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

KitGuru Says: Have you been playing through Oblivion Remastered this past week? Are there any changes you would like to see in the game?

Philips expands Evnia QD-OLED line-up with 27-inch 4K/240Hz gaming monitor

Philips has quietly revealed a new addition to their high-end Evnia gaming monitor lineup: the Philips Evnia 27M2N8800. Following the larger 32-inch model (32M2N8800) released last year, this new variant scales down slightly to a 26.5-inch screen size but still packs some serious firepower.

It features a QD-OLED panel, delivering a crisp 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) paired with a blazing-fast 240Hz refresh rate. As expected from any OLED panel, the response time is nearly instantaneous at just 0.03 ms, ensuring incredibly sharp motion, while the contrast is quite high at 1,500,000:1, thanks to per-pixel lighting.

The panel boasts 10-bit colour depth and wide colour coverage, hitting percentages like 99% DCI-P3 and 97.6% Adobe RGB, alongside a Delta-E of less than 2 for excellent out-of-the-box colour accuracy. HDR performance is certified under DisplayHDR True Black 400, with the monitor capable of hitting a peak brightness of 1000 cd/m²s. Motion clarity should also be quite good, as the monitor is ClearMR 13,000 certified.

For gamers, the monitor features FreeSync Premium Pro support, providing tear-free and low-latency gameplay. Additional features include handy PiP and PbP modes, gaming features such as a black stabilizer and crosshair overlays, and integrated 5-watt speakers. Bringing some signature Philips flair, it also features three-sided AI Ambiglow, providing dynamic lighting effects that can enhance immersion or add ambient light behind the display.

Connectivity is varied, offering two HDMI 2.1 inputs alongside a high-bandwidth DisplayPort 2.1 connection, as well as a built-in USB 3.0 hub and headphone output. Ergonomically, the stand supports tilt, swivel, and 130mm of height adjustment, and the monitor is also VESA mount (100×100) compatible.

KitGuru says: Are you thinking about making the jump to OLED in 2025?

AMD may scrap plans for 8GB RX 9060 XT following RTX 5060 Ti controversy

New reports suggest that AMD may reconsider a specific variant of its upcoming mid-range desktop GPU. The target of these rumours is the 8GB version of the Radeon RX 9060 XT, which may not hit the market after all.

The report from MLID states that AMD is reconsidering this variant due to the market's reaction to Nvidia's RTX 5060 Ti 8GB. That card faced notable criticism for having insufficient VRAM, which led to performance issues in some of today's most demanding games, particularly at higher resolutions or with high-res textures. Seeing this, AMD is reportedly keen to avoid a similar misstep with its mid-range offering.

Rather than proceeding with the RX 9060 XT 8GB launch as initially planned, AMD could potentially cancel the variant entirely, release it in limited numbers, or even rename it.

With their recent RX 9070 XT desktop GPU launch proving quite successful, AMD is reportedly looking to maintain that momentum by ensuring their following mid-range product satisfies current VRAM demands.

KitGuru says: This potential change highlights just how critical VRAM capacity has become in PC gaming, especially in the mid-range segment. 8GB of VRAM is starting to become a limiting factor, even at 1080p. As such, GPU manufacturers will have to either increase VRAM on their lower-end gaming solutions or sell them as non-gaming GPUs.

Elden Ring has surpassed 30 million copies sold

Elden Ring quickly became From Software’s biggest success following its release in February 2022 – where the game managed to sell over 12 million copies within its first few weeks on the market. Now, three years on from launch, the game has surpassed 30 million copies sold.

Elden Ring ended 2024 with around 28 million sales, in part thanks to a surge in sales following the release of the game's one and only expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree.

Dearest Tarnished, we are profoundly thankful for your lasting devotion.
May your path be forever guided by the Grace of Gold.#ELDENRING pic.twitter.com/3oMfkVpFWU

Ocypus launches panoramic Gamma C72 PC case

Ocypus has recently introduced the Gamma C72 chassis, designed to offer builders an unobstructed view of their system's internals. The headline feature is its sought-after column-free corner, providing a clear display perfect for showcasing high-end hardware, custom liquid cooling loops, and/or RGB lighting.

Beyond aesthetics, the Gamma C72 is engineered with airflow in mind. The top and side panels feature a perforation pattern designed to maximise air intake and exhaust. This architecture supports various cooling setups, including radiators up to 360mm at the top, and a total of up to 10 fans throughout the chassis, helping to keep components cool under load.

The case provides ample space to handle the latest hardware. Builders will find room for graphics cards up to 425mm in length, ensuring compatibility with most flagship GPUs. There's also generous clearance for PSUs, supporting units up to 250mm long, which allows for high-wattage PSUs needed for more demanding builds. Moreover, the case supports ATX, mATX, and Mini ITX motherboards, as well as CPU coolers up to 170mm tall. Lastly, there is space for two 2.5-inch drives and two 3.5-inch drives.

Keeping the interior clean is made simpler thanks to the magnetic dust filters on both the top and bottom panels. These are easy to remove for cleaning, effectively preventing dust build-up while maintaining airflow. The case is already available in some Asian countries, where you can purchase one for less than £30.

KitGuru says: Even if it costs twice as much as it does in Asia, the Gamma C72 would still be a relatively cheap case for what it offers.

Endorfy Supremo FM6 1000W PSU achieves Cybenetics Platinum rating

In March, Endorfy introduced its latest power supply, the Supremo FM6 1000W, offering full compliance with the ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards. At launch, it had been certified as 80Plus Gold. Now a couple of months later, the PSU has gone through the rigorous Cybenetics certification process.

The Endorfy FM6 1000W PSU now has its Cybenetics certifications for both power efficiency and noise output. While traditionally, 80Plus efficiency ratings are based on four load points, the Cybenetics process tests for thousands of load point combinations for a more accurate overall rating.

The Endorfy Supremo FM6 1000W power supply has achieved the Cybenetics Platinum efficiency rating and scored an A in the noise output test. With both scores, customers can be confident that this power supply will offer efficient power management and delivery, combined with low noise output under load.

More specifically, the PSU achieves a 90.01% efficiency score at 115V and 92.18% at 230V. The fan has an average acoustic output if 21.91dBA at 115V and 20.50dBA at 230V.

As Cybenetics testing is all public, you can read the full certification report and see all of the test results, HERE.

Cooler Master’s new Hyper 612 Apex CPU cooler is 30% smaller than predecessor

The Cooler Master Hyper series of air coolers will go down in history as amongst the best for their price points. Today, Cooler Master is introducing its latest addition to the line-up, the Hyper 612 APEX.

The new Cooler Master Hyper 612 Apex CPU cooler is built using in-house developed superconductive heatpipes to carry heat away from the CPU, and two Cooler Master 120P fans to dissipate that heat quickly and efficiently. The high performance heat pipes allowed Cooler Master to shrink the dimensions of the cooler by 30 percent compared to its predecessor, which in turn makes the cooler easier to install, and improves compatibility with various cases and memory modules.

Below are the key features for the Cooler Master Hyper 612 Apex CPU cooler:

  • Superconductive composite heat pipes: Six advanced heat pipes handle heavy thermal loads, ideal for overclocking.
  • Compact design: 30% smaller than previous models, providing easier installation and compatibility with large memory modules.
  • Quick installation: Removable magnetic top cover and easy-to-remove fan streamline the setup process.
  • Durable nickel-plated copper base: Resists corrosion and enhances long-term reliability.
  • Powerful Mobius 120P fan: Designed for high-pressure airflow while keeping noise levels to a minimum.

Speaking on the launch, Cooler Master CEO, Jimmy Sha, said: “With our advanced heat pipe technology and compact design, this cooler delivers high-performance results while staying user-friendly for a wide range of builds.”

The Cooler Master Hyper 612 APEX CPU cooler will be available soon. UK pricing is still to be confirmed.

Multiple Resident Evil titles hit new sales milestone

The Resident Evil series is by far Capcom’s biggest, with each entry selling millions upon millions of copies – especially in recent years. While fans eagerly await the announcement and subsequent release of Resident Evil 9, other titles in the franchise have continued to sell well, with multiple RE titles hitting record numbers.

Making the announcement via a blog post, the team at Capcom officially confirmed that 2023’s RE4 Remake has hit a new major milestone of over 10 million copies sold – officially making it one of Capcom’s best-selling games.

That said, other RE titles still have it beat, with 2019’s much-loved Resident Evil 2 Remake having now surpassed 15 million copies sold (matching that of RE7: Biohazard).

Resident Evil

This marks both RE7 and RE2 Remake as the joint 3rd-best selling games of all time from Capcom, only being beaten by Monster Hunter Rise (16.7 million) and World (21.3 million) – and perhaps MH: Wilds.

Regardless, Resident Evil continues to prove itself as one of Capcom’s most important franchises. It will be interesting to see just how quickly RE9 sells when it inevitably releases.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Resident Evil’s sales numbers? Are they lower/higher than expected? Will Monster Hunter ever overtake RE as Capcom’s best-selling franchise? Let us know down below.

Diablo IV might not come to Switch 2 due to live-service “challenge”

With the Nintendo Switch 2 a little over a month away from release, many 3rd party developers have announced or expressed interest in bringing their previous titles to the console maker’s upcoming system. Interestingly, one game which may not come to Switch 2 is Diablo IV, with Blizzard claiming the platform to be “challenging” for live-service titles.

In a recent interview with Gamertag Radio, the Senior Vice President / General Manager for Diablo at Blizzard ‘Rod Fergusson’ was asked about the upcoming Switch 2 and their plans for the system.

With a rather interesting response, Fergusson had this to say: “I think there’s opportunity there for sure. I mean, we have Diablo III and Diablo II Resurrected is already on the Switch, and with back compat like it’ll be playable on Switch 2.”

He continued, “It's nice the Switch 2 has the performance that can run a game like Diablo 4, so yeah, it's something to look at for sure. I think the challenge is less around the hardware and just about how we… you know, live services on Switch have been a little bit challenging in the past.”

Diablo IV Switch 2

Offering some positivity on the matter, Fergusson concluded by stating “I'm hopeful that as they launch this June and as we look to the future, that becomes easier and easier, so it makes more sense to put a live service on that platform.”

As mentioned by Fergusson, both Diablo II and III are available on the OG Switch and so the idea that a live-service title can’t work on Nintendo’s sequel system is slightly odd. That said, it would be highly surprising if Diablo IV didn’t eventually make its way onto Switch 2. We will have to wait and see.

KitGuru says: What do you think of these comments? Do you agree? How long before Blizzard brings Diablo IV to Switch 2? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Sony leaks one of May’s PlayStation Plus Essential titles

While Sony typically waits until the last Wednesday of the month to announce its upcoming PlayStation Plus Essential line-up, the console maker seems to have accidentally leaked one of May’s headlining titles – with the Until Dawn Remake seemingly set to be given away next month.

As discovered by Reddit user ‘Budget-Neat4750’ a select number of PlayStation users have had their PS Plus tab updated with a listing for the Until Dawn Remake as one of the available monthly games.

Of course, right now, the title is not actually available to claim, with April’s PS Plus line-up still set to be available until the 6th of May – those games being RoboCop Rogue City; Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

PlayStationPlus

Given this, it is highly likely that last year’s Until Dawn remake will be one of May’s headlining PlayStation Plus titles. This also lines up with the recent release of the Until Dawn film a couple days ago; making for a great synergistic release.

All that said, the Until Dawn Remake was a bit of a controversial release, with some fans arguing the original game to be superior. Since its launch last year however, the Remake has seen a number of updates, which at the very least helped with performance issues.

It will be interesting to see what the wider audience thinks of the game should it wind up being one of next month’s PS Plus titles.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the Until Dawn Remake? Was it as disappointing as some claimed? Have you checked out the film adaptation yet, and if so, did you enjoy it? Let us know down below.

Oblivion Remastered surpasses 200,000 concurrent players on Steam

Following a ton of leaks and rumours, the much-anticipated Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was finally shadow-dropped to a great deal of interest, seeing a peak concurrent player count on Steam of over 100,000 within hours of its launch. In alignment with the announcement that the remaster has surpassed 4 million total players, Oblivion managed to hit a new peak concurrent player count on Steam on Sunday.

Over the weekend, as some of the early launch day bugs were squashed and more people got the chance to hop into the game, TES IV: Oblivion Remastered managed to surpass its day-one concurrent player count on Steam.

While CCUs are a rather arbitrary metric (particularly for single player games) it is still worthy of note, especially in instances such as this, as Oblivion Remastered has now seen a new peak CCU of over 200,000 players – 216,784 to be specific.

Oblivion Steam

Though not uncommon for a game to rise in popularity during the weekend period, it is interesting to consider whether Oblivion’s surprise ‘shadow drop’ launch has contributed to its continued rise in concurrent players as more people were made aware of its release.

Regardless, it will be interesting to see how the game continues to perform over time, and whether it has hit its peak, or if this is just the start.

KitGuru says: Were you playing Oblivion over the weekend? How quickly following its announcement did you purchase the game? Will its peak concurrent players continue to rise over time? Let us know down below.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 surpasses 1 million sales

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 launched as the highest-rated game of 2025 so far and despite this week's release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, the game has managed to accrue an impressive number of sales.

Within days of the game's release, Sandfall Interactive confirmed it had surpassed 500K sales for the game. Now that the weekend surge has kicked in, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has now surpassed 1 million sales.

For those out of the loop, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a new turn-based RPG where players look to take down The Paintress, a goddess-like figure that controls death in this fantasy universe. The game has gone on to receive wide acclaim from critics and gamers themselves are leaving overwhelmingly positive reviews for the game on Steam.

Meta cuts jobs at Reality Labs division for AR and VR

Meta's AR and VR division has been burning money for a long time, costing the company billions as it chases its dream of birthing the ‘metaverse'. Now, company bosses are looking to bring the costs down and make its Reality Labs team more efficient.

According to sources speaking with Bloomberg, Meta is undergoing a round of job cuts at its Reality Labs division, with “more than 100″employees set to be impacted.

A Meta spokesperson later gave comment to The Verge, confirming that “some teams” were undergoing layoffs. The goal with this is to make Mixed Reality development more efficient, which sounds like an admission that Meta Reality Labs has lost too much money and things need to start turning around.

Despite seeing little return, Meta has continued to invest in its Reality Labs division, putting out new Quest VR hardware and acquiring additional companies to bolster its mixed reality offerings.

Bungie is disabling ‘aim assist’ in Marathon for mouse users

The Marathon alpha playtest went live for thousands of players earlier this week and PC gamers were quick to zone in on the game's use of aim assist for both controller and mouse inputs. Now, Bungie has responded to the criticism.

Bungie will be making adjustments in an upcoming patch for the Marathon alpha test. This update will include disabling ‘aim magnetism' on mouse. It is unclear if aim assist will return for mouse users, but given how heavy-handed the ‘assist' was, it will need to be heavily nerfed in order to make a return.

While many shooters will offer some form of aim assist to controller users, aim assist is traditionally not offered to keyboard and mouse users due to the ease of aiming with a mouse compared to a controller's analogue sticks. While aim assist on controllers is generally accepted, spoofing your input to access aim assist on a mouse is often viewed as cheating and many games now actively ban players for using such tools.

In Marathon, aim assist was available for both controller users and mouse users. It was switched on by default in the Marathon alpha and it would essentially cause your aim to snap onto enemies. It also seemed to help with recoil control, taking another element of skill out of the shootout.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: After seeing some of the gameplay footage, I had my doubts that mouse aim-assist would remain in the game past this alpha playtest. It is being removed for now. It will be interesting to see if Bungie makes any tweaks and attempts to add it back in for future playtests.

Capcom begins teasing Resident Evil 9

We are a few years removed from the launch of Resident Evil Village, which means it is about time we started learning more about the sequel. Capcom has not yet made any official announcements regarding Resident Evil 9 but a recent teaser shows that the company is gearing up for a reveal.

In a recent milestone video celebrating 10 million players for Resident Evil 4 Remake, Capcom hid a little sign numbered ‘IX'. This was quickly picked up on by fans on social media.

Resident Evil 9 has been in the works since Resident Evil Village shipped. The next game is set to conclude the story that began with Resident Evil 7, which introduced all new characters to the franchise.

According to long-time Resident Evil leaker, Dusk Golem, Resident Evil 9 will be announced later this year, with a release date scheduled for 2026. Typically, Capcom likes to release major titles in the first half of the year, as we've seen in recent years with the likes of Monster Hunter Wilds and Dragon's Dogma 2 being Q1 releases.

Phanteks launches new Glacier One D30 X2 AIO liquid coolers

Phanteks is expanding its cooling lineup with a new generation of AIO liquid CPU coolers – the Glacier One D30 X2. Available with radiators up to 420mm long. The new AIOs also ship with Phanteks' signature D30 fans.

The Glacier One D30 X2 utilises Phanteks' D30 fans, which cleverly link together physically, simplifying installation and significantly reducing cable clutter by handling power and D-RGB lighting for multiple fans via a single cable connection. The cooler also features a large copper base paired with an optimised fin array, engineered for efficient heat transfer from even the most demanding CPUs.

Similar to Arctic's Liquid Freezer coolers, Phanteks integrated a small fan into the Evolv X2-inspired brushed aluminium pump cover. This fan provides active cooling to the surrounding motherboard VRMs and M.2 SSDs, contributing to overall system stability and performance. The cooler supports most modern platforms, including Intel LGA 1700, 1200, and 115x sockets, as well as AMD's AM4 and AM5 sockets.

The Glacier One D30 X2 series is available in black and white and will be fully integrated into Phanteks' new Nexlinq ecosystem (RGB lighting and fan control). The 360mm version is priced at £159.90/$179.99/€179.90, while the larger 420mm model, also available in black or white, retails for £169.90/$189.99/€189.90. Phanteks expects these new coolers to be available everywhere starting next month, in May 2025.

KitGuru says: It would be nice to have smaller Glacier One D30 X2 AIO models. However, given that this appears to be Phanteks' new flagship AIO series, it's reasonable to have only chosen the larger radiator sizes. Intel confirms plans for layoffs

In recent weeks, there have been reports that Intel intends to undergo a wider restructuring that could see its workforce reduced by as much as 20%. While Intel has not yet confirmed any specific numbers, CEO Lip-Bu Tan, has confirmed that layoffs will be taking place soon.

Lip-Bu Tan wants Intel to be a leaner company with a more engineer-first mindset. This process will involve ‘flattening the organisation' to remove “unnecessary bureaucracy”. It has also been noted that management are no longer to focus on team size as a key performance metric.

Speaking more specifcally on the wider lay-offs, Tan said: “There is no way around the fact that these critical changes will reduce the size of our workforce. As I said when I joined, we need to make some very hard decisions to put our company on a solid footing for the future. This will begin in Q2 and we will move as quickly as possible over the next several months.”

Tan adds that Intel will be “very intentional” about where to focus its efforts moving forward as it looks to regain technical leadership.

Razer introduces new Pro Click V2 ergonomic mice with RGB ligthing

Razer is expanding its reach further into the workspace. They've just unveiled two new wireless mice aimed squarely at productivity: the Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition, and the updated Razer Pro Click V2. These mice blend gaming-grade precision with a focus on ergonomic comfort, designed for all-day support without sacrificing performance.

Leading the charge for unique ergonomics is Razer's first vertical wireless mouse, the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition. Its 71.7° angle mimics a natural handshake grip to reduce strain, and the extended thumb rest and base support further enhance comfort and improve wrist posture. The standard Razer Pro Click V2 features a more traditional yet ergonomic 30° inclined angle for a neutral hand position, with comfortable curves and rubberised grips that aid all-day use.

Both Pro Click V2 mice are packed with serious tech. They feature the Razer Focus Pro 30K optical sensor for exceptional precision with 99.8% accuracy, ensuring smooth tracking even on glass. Mechanical switches rated for 60 million clicks provide crisp feedback for demanding tasks. At the same time, Razer's HyperScroll Technology offers versatility with rapid Free-Spin scrolling for documents and tactile cycling for precise control. Perhaps the most unique feature for a productivity mouse is Razer's new AI Prompt Master. This tool streamlines the prompt writing process by providing quick access to popular AI services, such as ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot. Users can instantly rephrase, summarise, or create prompts simply by pressing a dedicated mouse button.

Connectivity is robust, offering 5-way multi-device pairing, including Razer's ultra-low-latency HyperSpeed Wireless, which ensures smooth, lag-free performance across multiple devices, such as PCs, laptops, and tablets. Battery life is quite good, with a five-minute USB-C charge providing up to 2-3 working days of usage. A Smart Dimming feature also helps conserve power. Both models feature multi-zone, full underglow Razer Chroma RGB lighting, allowing for customisable effects that can sync with over 300 compatible games and devices.

The Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition is now available, priced at £119.99/€129.99/$119.99. The standard Razer Pro Click V2 is also available now for £99.00/€109.99/$99.99.

Lexar updates SSD lineup with new three new models

Lexar is expanding its SSD portfolio with the introduction of three new NVMe models. The company is rolling out the Professional NM1090 PRO PCIe 5.0 SSD, the NQ780 M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD, and the NQ700 M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD, all designed to provide the maximum performance on their respective PCIe standards.

Lexar's new flagship is the Professional NM1090 PRO PCIe 5.0 SSD. This drive is designed for those who demand the absolute peak in storage performance, boasting sequential read speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s and write speeds of up to 13,000 MB/s. Powering this speed is a 6nm controller, chosen in part for its ability to efficiently manage heat, promoting more consistent performance under sustained loads. Leveraging features such as dedicated DRAM Cache and SLC dynamic cache, the NM1090 PRO is designed to dramatically increase data transfer speeds, reduce loading times, and enhance overall system responsiveness.

Stepping down in raw speed, but still firmly in the high-performance category, is the NQ780 M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD. This drive is built with premium technology, allowing it to deliver sequential read speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,000 MB/s. The NQ780 features a convenient single-sided design, making it ideal for installation in laptops and compact systems where space can be limited. Its Intelligent Power Control further enhances its suitability for mobile use. Lexar also bundles the useful Lexar DiskMaster SSD management software with the drive, allowing users to update firmware and monitor the health of their storage easily.

Then, in the PCIe 3.0 realm, there's the NQ700 SSD, capable of delivering read speeds of up to 4,500 MB/s and write speeds of up to 3,000 MB/s. Featuring SLC dynamic cache and HMB (Host Memory Buffer), the NQ700 can enhance responsiveness on most systems that still use older SATA drives. Like the NQ780, it supports Lexar DiskMaster to update firmware and monitor the drive's health.

The Professional NM1090 PRO is currently available for purchase in 1TB and 2TB capacities, priced at $179.99 and $269.99, respectively. A larger 4TB option is expected to be added to the lineup later this summer. The NQ780 is now available in three capacities: a 1TB model priced at approximately $79.99, a 2TB option at $149.99, and a spacious 4TB version priced at $289.99. Lastly, the NQ700 will be available in 1TB and 2TB capacities, but pricing hasn't been disclosed yet.

The Crew 2 will get offline mode update soon

Last year, Ubisoft sparked backlash after it took its original open-world racing game, The Crew, offline and went as far as removing the game entirely from digital libraries. To avoid making the exact same mistake with The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest, Ubisoft is gearing up to introduce offline modes.

Both The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest will be getting an offline play mode to “ensure long-term access to both titles”. Additionally, the developers have committed to releasing more content for both games in the future. Currently, the offline mode for The Crew 2 is set to begin testing this week. Assuming there are no major problems, the offline mode should roll out to all players in a month or so.

The offline mode for The Crew Motorfest is still on the way, but there is no release timeline yet. The game continues to get seasonal updates and still has years of planned content ahead.

KitGuru Says: It sounds like The Crew Motorfest's offline mode is not a priority right now, but that should change once the offline mode for The Crew 2 has rolled out to all.

Remedy’s first multiplayer game ‘FBC: Firebreak’ releases in June

During a livestream last night, Remedy announced its launch plans for its first multiplayer game – FBC: Firebreak. Set in the Control universe, the game will put players in clean-up squads, tasked with containing anomalies throughout The Oldest House.

The game will be launching on Steam and the Epic Games Store, a notable change from Alan Wake 2, which has remained an Epic Games Store exclusive since launch. The game will also be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Better yet, Remedy will be adding the game to both PlayStation Plus Premium and Xbox Game Pass (PC Game Pass included.

If you do opt to buy the game, it will cost £32.99, and a deluxe edition that includes various skins, sprays, armour sets and voice packs, will cost £7.99. The game officially launches on the 17th of June. So far, no beta has been announced, so it is unclear if there will be an opportunity to test the game before release.

Marvel Rivals datamine reveals new hero characters

The Marvel Rivals team has not been shy about teasing future heroes by leaving references in the game files. Through datamining, all of Marvel Rivals' heroes so far have leaked beforehand. This week, another leak has given us further insight into the next wave of playable characters.

XOXLEAK, an account that leaked Oblivion Remastered details earlier this week, and has also leaked Marvel Rivals content previously, has now shared a new set of characters the developers are working on. Hive and Armor are up as potential new tank characters, Amaranth could make an appearance as a DPS hero and finally, White Fox and Forge are up as potential new support role characters.

Datamining gives insight into what the developers are working on, but it is never a 100% guarantee that a certain character will make it into the live game. A few previously datamined characters have already been put on hold for reasons unknown.

XOX also revealed a few other new pieces of content, including new team-up abilities, as well as new cosmetic store bundles.

Marathon gives aim assist to mouse and keyboard players

Bungie has officially begun public playtests for Marathon and players are quickly digging into all aspects of the game. One thing that immediately stood out to many PC gamers was the option to switch on aim assist with a mouse, and as you might expect, this has stirred up quite the debate.

In Marathon, aim assist is available for both controller users and mouse users. It is switched on by default in the Marathon alpha and helps your crosshair stick to moving targets. While this might not be as big of a deal in a PvE focused game like Destiny, Marathon is a competitive game that heavily leans towards PvP action. Typically in a PvP game, we would expect there to be a skill gap, whoever has the faster aim and better recoil control will win the shootout. With the aim assist feature, recoil control is neutralised, taking a significant element of skill out of the game.

The baffling part about this is that Bungie is well known for its ability to make gunplay feel good. Halo became legendary because first and foremost, it was a fantastic shooter. Destiny has survived on the back of its gameplay, rather than story elements, for a decade.

Based on the clips we're seeing from Marathon already, the aim assist function does a lot of heavy lifting, more than what we're used to seeing in games like Call of Duty. A clip from streamer, Shroud, encapsulates this with all of the participants stating that they are ‘aim botting'.

Bungie has not yet commented on the feedback but based on the pushback to aim assist for mouse users, I can't imagine this feature remains in the game at launch.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: I expect this to be removed, or at the very least, heavily nerfed. With how heavy-handed the aim assist was, it should probably be nerfed a bit on controllers too.

GTA V, InFamous Second Son and more leaving PS Plus in May

Each month, Sony updates its PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium libraries with a number of new and returning titles. Unfortunately, at the same time the company also removes games from the service on a monthly basis – with the likes of GTA V, InFamous Second Son and well over a dozen more titles departing PS Plus in May.

In going to the PlayStation Plus tab on your PS5, you’ll find a list of  titles under the ‘Last Chance to Play’ section. Leaving the service at some point in May are the following:

  • GTA V
  • MotoGP 24
  • Sims 4 Island Living Expansion
  • Walkabout Mini Golf
  • Synth Riders
  • Ghostbusters Rise of the Ghost Lord: Frozen Empire
  • Before Your Eyes
  • The Walking Dead Saints & Sinners + Retribution
  • Lego Marvel Super heroes 2
  • Stranded Alien Dawn
  • Lego Movie 2
  • Ghostrunner
  • Payday 2
  • Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
  • Journey to the Savage Planet
  • Portal Knights
  • Enter the Gungeon
  • Batman Arkham Knight
  • InFamous Second Son
GTA V PS Plus

Easily the biggest game being removed is GTA V, however amongst this list of departees are a number of surprising titles.

Given the fact that InFamous Second Son is a first-party PlayStation title developed by Sucker Punch Productions, its removal from the service makes little sense – especially as this marks the only version of the game available (meaning this isn’t being done in order to add a remastered SKU later on).

Beyond this, other notable titles leaving include the fun first-person open-zone platform shooter ‘Journey to the Savage Planet’; the surprisingly immersive VR title ‘The Walking Dead Saints & Sinners’ and last but not least the fun, fast-paced first-person parkour slasher ‘Ghostrunner’.

While April’s PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium line-up was one of its best in a while, hopefully Sony has some major plans for PS Plus next month in order to make up for the slew of titles leaving the service.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the departing titles? Will you try to complete any of them before they’re gone? How can Sony make up for this next month? Let us know down below.

Metaphor: ReFantazio PC sales “far exceeded” expectations

While predominantly seen as a console-focused studio, ATLUS announced back in 2021 that they wanted to bring more of their titles (past and future) to additional platforms. Since then, we’ve seen the likes of Persona 5, P3R, SMT V and more come to PC – to great success. In discussing last year’s Metaphor: ReFantazio, the team revealed that sales on the platform had “exceeded expectations.”

In an interview conducted by the Japanese publication 4Gamer (and translated by Automaton-Media), the director and creative producer for Metaphor: ReFantazio – Katsura Hashino – spoke on ATLUS’ shift towards simultaneous releases across multiple platforms, saying:

“Even as a developer, I believe that there is much merit in each player being able to enjoy the game in their preferred environment, and I’m glad that we were able to accomplish that.”

Metaphor: ReFantazio PC

This new strategy seems to be paying off, with Hashino revealing that sales for Metaphor: ReFantazio on PC exceeded the team’s expectations. While we’ve not gotten any updated figures in quite some time, the game was confirmed to have been the biggest launch for ATLUS so far, selling over 1 million copies in its first day.

Considering that Metaphor: ReFantazio is a brand new IP, its success across the board is worthy of note – especially given its surprising popularity on PC. Hopefully this means all future ATLUS games will continue to release simultaneously across all platforms.

KitGuru says: What did you think of Metaphor? Was it your 2024 GOTY? Will Persona 6 come to all platforms on day-one? Let us know your thoughts down below.

GTA V was the most-viewed game on Twitch in 2024

Well over a decade on from its launch, GTA V remains more relevant than ever, with the game selling over 210 million copies since 2013 and continuing to see a solid 100,000+ concurrent players on PC on the daily. Beyond players themselves, GTA V continues to be one of the most-viewed games in the world, with the title topping viewership charts for Twitch in 2024.

As reported by The Verge, Twitch has released an infographic showing off various stats for the biggest games on the platform in 2024. Having a 60% market share in global gaming live-streaming, Twitch remains by far the biggest platform for insights into the general gaming landscape in this regard.

With over 15 billion hours of gaming content viewed in 2024, many games were privy to their 15 minutes of fame. That said, one title reigned supreme, with GTA V taking up almost 10% of the entire year’s views with over 1.4 billion hours watched.

Second place meanwhile went to League of Legends (1.19 billion hours), followed by Valorant (804 million hours); Fortnite (539 million hours) and rounding up the top 5 was Call of Duty with 451 million hours watched in 2024.

GTA V Twitch

While yes, GTA V is one of the biggest games of all time, its continued relevance on Twitch in particular is due in part to the ongoing popularity of the game’s roleplaying servers – a function which popped up independently of Rockstar/Take-Two’s own ambitions for the game.

With GTA VI set to release at some point later this year, it will be interesting to see how the game performs both in terms of sales, but also continued livestream viewership figures.

Given the fact that no PC release has been announced yet, GTA V’s RP servers will likely remain quite popular for the foreseeable future. It will be interesting to see how the two will compete in this regard.

KitGuru says: How often do you go on Twitch? Which game do you like to watch the most? Will GTA V’s RP servers remain popular following GTA VI’s release? Let us know your thoughts down below.

New Radeon RX 9060 XT graphics card could be right around the corner

In recent weeks, we've been hearing about two unannounced AMD graphics cards. The upcoming RX 9060 XT still appears to be on track for an announcement in the coming weeks, but the situation has changed for the rumoured RX 9070 GRE, which may have been delayed.

As reported by VideoCardz (via Board Channels forum), the Radeon RX 9060 XT is expected to arrive relatively soon, with reports suggesting a release in the coming weeks, placing its debut around late May or early June 2025. Some mentions point to a “product release” on May 18th, and a June launch date.

The same report also mentions the Radeon RX 9070 GRE. While specifications for this model have surfaced recently, this latest leak introduces a potential wrinkle in its launch timeline. The release date for this RX 9070 GRE has allegedly been pushed back significantly, now targeted for some time in Q4.

The RX 9060 XT is rumoured to utilise the full Navi 44 GPU configuration, reportedly packing 2048 Stream Processors. AMD is expected to offer this specific card in two memory configurations, giving consumers a choice between a more future-proof 16GB variant and a more cost-conscious 8GB option. As for the RX 9070 GRE, it is expected to feature a Navi 48 GPU with a core count of 3072, paired with a 12GB memory configuration across a 192-bit bus.

Cloud voice actor is already recording for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3

We are over a year on from the successful launch of Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, the second part in Square Enix's grand remake trilogy. Now, all attention has turned to the third and final installment, and it looks like development is already quite far along, with voice lines already being recorded.

Voice actor, Cody Christian, who voices the English language version of Cloud Strife in the remake trilogy, shared an update on social media this week, confirming that voice lines are now being recorded for the next game.

This falls in line with Square Enix's timeline. From Final Fantasy 7 Remake to Rebirth, it took Square Enix around three years of development time. With the third part of the trilogy, Square Enix is aiming for another three year timeline, which would give us a release in 2027.

Given that voice actors are now in the booth recording their lines, it is safe to say that the story is settled on and development is progressing smoothly.

Frostpunk is getting rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 to enable mod support

It has only been around six months since Frostpunk 2 hit the market but the team at 11 Bit Studios already has its next game in the series underway. Recently, 11 Bit revealed that a new Frostpunk game was now in development, with a planned launch in 2027. Now, we know much more about that project.

The new Frostpunk game won't be Frostpunk 3 or a new standalone spin-off title. Instead, it is being referred to as Frostpunk 1886, and it is a ‘reimagining' of the original 2018 strategy title.

Frostpunk 1886 will reimagine the original game in Unreal Engine 5. By remaking the game in UE5, 11 Bit Studios will be free from the limitations of its old engine, which hampered development on additional content and led to zero mod support for the original game. All of that will be fixed with Frostpunk 1886, allowing the development team to have more ambitious post-launch plans, and allowing modders to add their own content to the game.

While Frostpunk 1886 does not appear to be the priority for 11 Bit Studios, that doesn't mean work on Frostpunk 2 is ending. The company has promised to work on both platforms simultaneously, so we should still see future content for Frostpunk 2.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: It seems a little soon to be going back in time to Frostpunk 1, but the technical aspects of the remake are appealing. After all, many strategy sim games like this get a ton of extra life from mod support and the original game unfortunately lacked that.

Supermassive Games reportedly cancels Blade Runner game

Supermassive Games, the studio known for Until Dawn, The Quarry and The Dark Pictures Anthology, has unfortunately had its next game cancelled. It turns out, this studio had been working on a Blade Runner game, which has now been cancelled before it could even be announced.

According to sources speaking with Insider Gaming, the game was set to be titled ‘Blade Runner: Time to Live', and was set to be a character-focused action-adventure game. The single-player campaign would have been around 12 hours long, according to pre-production documentation detailing the studio's plans for the game.

The game had only entered development in September 2024 and was quickly cancelled by the end of the year. If the project had gone ahead, it would have been targeting a 2027 launch for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Those who had worked on the project labelled it as ‘impressive' but unfortunately, an issue between Supermassive Games and Blade Runner rights holder, Alcon Entertainment, led to plans for the game being scrapped. The title would have apparently cost $45 million to make.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: Game development rarely goes entirely to plan, so I have my doubts that this game would have been all wrapped up in just three years, but as the relationship between the studio and the IP owner went south almost instantly, we will never know for sure.

MSI Z890 motherboards now support Intel 200S Boost technology

Hot on the heels of the announcement of Intel's 200S Boost technology, MSI has now stepped forward with an extensive list of motherboards that support the new feature. The entire lineup of MSI Z890 series motherboards will offer complete, out-of-the-box support for Intel 200S Boost.

Intel 200S Boost functions as a clever memory and interconnect enhancement technology, designed to reliably push DDR5 memory performance and related CPU fabrics beyond standard specifications. To ensure this works flawlessly for users, MSI has not only enabled the feature but also established partnerships with key memory manufacturers and conducted extensive testing. This work means a wide array of DDR5 modules have been certified to meet Intel's 200S Boost specifications, promising improved performance straight out of the box.

Perhaps the most compelling aspect for enthusiasts, gamers, and creators is the sheer ease of use. G.Skill shares list of memory supporting Intel 200S Boost

As the excitement builds around Intel's recently unveiled ‘200S Boost' performance profile, G.Skill is stepping forward with their memory compatibility details. The company has announced that it has a comprehensive list of its DDR5 memory profiles ready and verified to work with Intel's new feature, ranging from DDR5-6000 up to DDR5-8000 speeds.

Intel's 200S Boost is designed to enhance performance specifically for platforms equipped with unlocked Intel Core Ultra 200S series desktop processors and a compliant Intel Z890 motherboard. The feature itself leverages Intel's XMP 3.0 memory overclock profiles and automatically adjusts other crucial CPU parameters in tandem for improved overall system performance when enabled in the motherboard BIOS.

To take full advantage of the 200S Boost, you'll need a Core Ultra 200K CPU, a compatible Intel Z890 board (such as the ones MSI has announced support for), and validated DDR5 memory kits. Intel's requirements for this validation include supporting an Intel XMP 3.0 profile with speeds up to DDR5-8000 and operating at a maximum rated voltage of 1.4V. Given their long-standing focus on performance and compatibility, G.Skill has been proactive, verifying numerous memory models against these criteria since the 200S Boost program was introduced, ensuring builders have plenty of compatible options.

For builders keen to utilise G.Skill's DDR5 memory kits with Intel 200S Boost, they should check the official list of validated memory kits on Intel's website and download the list. Once downloaded, the necessary details confirming which specific G.Skill kits are validated for 200S Boost can be found by referencing the dedicated sheet within the spreadsheet labelled ‘ARL 200S Boost'.
