New Helldivers II Warbond brings stealth armour, C4 explosives and more

Helldivers 2 has easily been one of PlayStation’s most successful live-service projects, with the co-op focused shooter selling well over 10 million copies and continuing to see a dedicated player base thanks to strong communication and consistent updates – including one which reduced the game’s file size on PC by 85%. Coming next week, the team at Arrowhead have now announced Helldivers II’s latest update, with the Redacted Regiment Warbond launching on the 20th of January.

Making the announcement via the PlayStation Blog, Arrowhead Game Studios community manager Katherine Baskin unveiled and detailed the Redacted Regiment Warbond.

Available from the 20th of January, this Premium Warbond (which can be obtained through gameplay as well) offers a wide variety of new equipment focused equally on stealth and destruction including:

  • R-72 Censor (precision rifle with integrated suppressor)
  • AR-59 Suppressor (fully automatic assault rifle with integrated suppressor)
  • P-35 Re-Educator (dart-firing secondary pistol which shoots chemicals)
  • ‘B/MD C4 Pack’ stratagem
  • TM-01 Lure Mine
  • ‘RS-89 Shadow Paragon’ light armour
  • ‘RS–67 Null Cipher’ medium armour
  • ‘Concealed Insertion’ booster
  • Additional Capes, poses, and other cosmetics

With Battlefield 6 Season 2 being delayed from its planned 20th of January release date, now is as good a time as any to hop back into Helldivers II.

DLSS 4.5 officially released with the latest Nvidia App update

Following on from its official announcement at CES 2026 last week, today Nvidia's new DLSS 4.5 technology is going live to all RTX gamers via an update to the Nvidia App.

If you missed our initial coverage last week, Nvidia announced DLSS 4.5 at CES 2026, introducing what the company calls a ‘2nd generation transformer model' for DLSS Super Resolution. This follows on from the 1st generation transformer model that arrived with DLSS 4 and the launch of the RTX 50-series.

Despite some eagle-eyed comments suggesting the official update had been delayed, DLSS 4.5 is rolling out to everyone with an update to the Nvidia App, available now. The technology is backwards compatible with older DLSS versions, so users can adjust the DLSS Override setting within the Nvidia App to make use of 2nd gen transformer upscaling with Presets L and M.

It's worth clarifying that while the DLSS 4.5 suite includes both the Super Resolution update and a new MFG 6X mode, along with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, the latter two features aren't arriving just yet, and are slated for release in the Spring.

You can read more about DLSS 4.5 on Nvidia's official blog. The Nvidia App should automatically update when you next open it, or you can manually access the latest version on Nvidia's website HERE.

KitGuru says: Have you tried out DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution already – what do you think?

Season 2 of Battlefield 6 delayed until mid-February

There’s no denying that Battlefield 6 has been a huge success, with EA’s latest FPS entry selling in excess of 10 million copies and going on to dethrone Call of Duty for the first time possibly ever. That said, since its launch, sentiment surrounding the game has cooled down somewhat. As a result, EA have now announced that they will be delaying Season 2 in order to “keep our promise” to the community.

Making the official announcement via a blog post, the team at Battlefield Studios confirmed that BF6’s second Season has been delayed from its original release date – that being the 20th of January.

While we did not get any specifics, the team stated that “During our ongoing development, we've continued to review community feedback and, in order to keep our promise, determined that our best path forward is to extend Season 1 and give ourselves extra time to further polish and refine Season 2.”

Season 2 Battlefield 6

Season 2 of Battlefield 6 is now scheduled to go live on the 17th of February. That said, in order to make up for this delay, BF6 will receive a Season 1 Extension Update on the 20th of January; introducing “new weekly challenges, a Bonus Path, and a continuation of the Season 1 Battle Pass until the start date of Season 2.”

With this delay, Season 1 of Battlefield 6 will now last nearly 4 months, and given that Season 1 was already relatively content-light it will be interesting to see how player numbers will evolve over the next 4 weeks. The full blog post including recent patch notes can be found HERE.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Battlefield 6’s post-launch support so far? Are you waiting for Season 2? Can BF6’s player numbers recover? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Intel Arrow Lake Refresh has been benchmarked in Geekbench

New data from Geekbench has surfaced for Intel's unannounced “Arrow Lake Refresh”, branding the upcoming performance bump as the “Plus” series. While these chips weren't mentioned during Intel's CES 2026 keynote, the new leaks suggest that both desktop (LGA-1851) and mobile (HX) refreshes are right around the corner.

The desktop flagship, the Core Ultra 9 290K Plus (via Benchleaks), appeared on a Gigabyte Z890 Aorus Tachyon Ice motherboard paired with 48 GB of DDR5-8000 memory. The benchmark results indicate a meaningful performance uplift over the existing 285K, achieved through clock-speed increase rather than architectural changes or core-count increases. The chip maintains the 24-core (8P + 16E) layout but has a reported maximum boost frequency of 5.8 GHz. In the single-core test, it scored 3,456 points, which makes it about 8% faster than the 285K. As for the multi-core score, the upcoming CPU saw a 9% increase over its predecessor, scoring 24,610 points.

The refresh also extends to high-performance laptops and small-form-factor systems. The Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus (via Benchleaks) has been spotted in an Acer Predator Helios 18 AI (model PHN18-I71). However, unlike the 290K Plus entry, this processor wasn't running at full power, reaching a max clock speed of around 841 MHz. That's quite a bit lower than the 5.x GHz we expect from this CPU. As one would expect, the scores were abysmally low and not worth comparing with other CPUs.

Despite no official announcement at CES 2026 last week, we're expecting these chips to still be announced relatively soon. The first entries of an Arrow Lake refresh CPU date back to October 2025, and since then, we've already seen other mentions of these CPUs here and there. So it's looking increasingly like just a matter of time before they become official.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

KitGuru says: Even if these CPUs won't magically make Intel relevant again, they should still offer more performance than Intel currently has.

New Witcher 3 multi mod lets you play online

If you have ever wondered what it would be like to play The Witcher 3 with friends, well, there's now a mod for that. The “Witcher Online” has just been launched by rejuvenate, accumulating thousands of downloads already.

For a title that has recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, the ability to finally explore the continent of The Witcher 3 as a group is a game-changer. The mod (via DSOG) attempts to turn the game into a persistent, social RPG offering full campaign support, combat, movement, and gear sync. The mod also uses dedicated servers instead of peer-to-peer setups, allowing players to play with strangers or friends or to find groups.

To sell the online experience, the modder integrated and synchronised several other popular immersion mods. That includes “Custom Player Characters”, which allows you to break away from being a Geralt clone by personalising your own Witcher, and “Chill Out”, for players to share activities like fishing, sitting at taverns, smoking, or even sleeping. Moreover, you'll also need “Community Patch – Shared Imports” as a dependency, as it allows importing classes and attributes to avoid conflicts with other mods.

Since this is a massive fan-made project rather than an official CD Projekt Red update, you'll probably find bugs and issues with the mod. Moreover, you'll need a legit copy of the game on GOG, Steam, or Epic running version 4.04 (Next-Gen).

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

KitGuru says: Even if the rumoured DLC for Witcher 3 doesn't arrive, at least fans can have some fun playing the game online.

ID-Cooling refreshes budget lineup and launches… scented thermal paste?

ID-Cooling is updating its low-profile and budget mainstream lineups with various models. The cooling manufacturer has unveiled the IS-77-XT Black, a direct competitor to the low-profile elite, alongside a refreshed SE-XT V2 series that maintains its ultra-aggressive pricing. However, the most surprising addition to their catalogue is the Frost X55, a high-conductivity thermal paste available in five fragrances.

The IS-77-XT Black is a 77 mm-tall top-down cooler designed for Mini-ITX builds. Despite its compact footprint, it features a nickel-plated copper base and six 6 mm heat pipes, allowing it to tame CPUs with a TDP up to 150W. This cooler comes equipped with a slim 120 mm PWM fan capable of 65.2 CFM. Notably, the cooler is designed with 100% RAM clearance in mind. It supports two fan mounting configurations, allowing PC builders to choose between a downward intake (push) and an upward exhaust (pull).

For the mainstream segment, the SE-214-XT (4x heatpipes) and SE-903-XT (3x heatpipes) have received a “V2” overhaul. These refreshed models utilise Heatpipe Direct Touch (HDT) technology and a revised folded-fin stack to improve structural integrity and thermal dissipation, allowing them to be rated for up to 220W. While the only SE-903-XT V2 announced is the ARGB variant, the SE-214-XT V2 lineup has five: Black, Plus (two fans), ARGB, ARGB White, and Auto RGB (OEM only). All models use AS-V2 PWM fans (varying sizes) rated for noise levels up to 29.1 dB(A). The SE-214-XT V2 also introduces a new top cover that conceals the copper heatpipe terminations, giving the budget cooler a more premium look that matches modern blacked-out aesthetics.

Lastly, we have the scented Frost X55 thermal paste. While its primary selling point is a high thermal conductivity of 16.2 W/mK, ID-Cooling is leaning into the “lifestyle” aspect of PC building by offering the paste in five scent variants: Core (unscented), Poma (apple), Bella (strawberry), Viola (floral), and Luna (fresh). The paste is non-conductive and non-corrosive, specifically engineered to resist the “pump-out” effect common in high-pressure mounts, ensuring it remains stable on the die for several years.

Pricing for some of these parts has already been disclosed: the SE-903-XT V2 Black costs $14.99, the SE-214-XT V2 ARGB costs $18.99, and the SE-214-XT V2 Plus costs $19.99.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

KitGuru says: ID-Cooling continues to be a contender in the “bang for buck” category. As for the scented thermal paste? It's undeniably a gimmick, but if the 16.2 W/mK rating holds up well, it might just be the best-smelling way to drop your temps.

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot officially surpasses 10 million copies sold

When it comes to video games based on Anime, there is perhaps no bigger franchise than Dragon Ball, with most games released going on to sell millions of copies – sometimes in excess of 10 million. Joining the club is 2020’s Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, having now officially sold 10 million copies.

Releasing a brief video to celebrate the milestone, publisher Bandai Namco officially confirmed that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has now sold over 10 million copies, writing: “10 million adventurers strong. Thank you for living the story of DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT. The journey isn’t over yet.”

Kakarot now joins the ever-growing list of other Dragon Ball titles which have surpassed 10 million copies, with the likes of Xenoverse 2 and FighterZ both having reached the figure back in 2023. Though not quite at this level yet, the most recent Dragon Ball title (Sparking! Zero) is well on its way to the 10 million mark – currently sitting at over 5 million units sold.

Since its launch, Kakarot has received a bunch of post-release DLC, with the most recent being Adventure through the Demon Realm Part 1. With Bandai promising that “the journey isn’t over yet” expect part 2 and potentially more DLC to be announced in the future.

Arc Raiders has officially sold over 12 million copies already

Arc Raiders has taken the world by storm ever since the extraction shooter officially released back in October 2025. Unlike many multiplayer experiences, Arc Raiders does not appear to be a flash in the pan, with the game continuing to sell millions of copies while maintaining high player numbers. Less than three months in and the extraction shooter has already officially sold over 12.4 million copies – while amassing nearly 1 million concurrent players.

Making the announcement via a press release, publisher NEXON confirmed that Arc Raiders “has sold more than 12.4 million units, with concurrent players reaching 960,000 in January, ten weeks after the launch on October 30, 2025.”

Speaking on its success, Embark Studios’ CEO Patrick Soderlund wrote “Hitting 12.4 million units is a huge landmark – and it wouldn’t have happened without our players. The community of raiders has been part of this journey from the start, and their ideas and enthusiasm continue to guide where the game goes next.”

Arc Raiders Million

As mentioned, Arc Raiders has managed to maintain a surprising high player base over the past two and half months, with Steam data showing it consistently hitting around 400 thousand concurrent players on a weekly basis – pretty much matching its peak of 481k back around launch.

Of course, Arc Raiders still has a long journey ahead of it, and while players keep coming back to the game time and time again, we will have to wait and see whether the team at Embark can maintain this momentum throughout the rest of 2026.

Peter Molyneux’s “open world god game” Masters of Albion launches this April

Peter Molyneux is a rather controversial figure in the video games industry. While the creator is known best for having developed the classic RPG series Fable, many of Molyneux’s more recent efforts have fallen short of their lofty claims. That said, one title which does show some potential is the self-funded Masters of Albion – officially set to launch on the 22nd of April.

Masters of Albion is said to be “a bold reimagining of the God Game genre, from the creator who defined it…Mixing strategy with simulation, town management and tower defence.”

For the uninitiated, a god game is one in which the player has near-complete control of the world and its people, allowing you to shape it to your liking.

In Masters of Albion, players will be able to observe and affect the world through a bird’s eye view while also being able to directly possess NPCs in order to control them in a 3rd-person format. With a day and night mechanic necessitating different strategies, Masters of Albion does look to be a fun time.

Of course, as mentioned, Molyneux has a bit of a controversial past, with many of the creator’s titles falling short of Molyneux’s claims. Perhaps the most famous example came from the original Fable, in which Molyneux claimed prior to its release that you would be able to knock an acorn off a tree and see it grow into its own plant over the course of the game.

That said, Molyneux has addressed and apologised in the past for his tendency to overpromise, and so here’s to hoping that Masters of Albion winds up being exactly as has been claimed. We won’t have to wait too long to find out.

Further evidence points towards Call of Duty coming to Switch 2

Back when Microsoft was trying to acquire Activision-Blizzard, the console maker struck a deal with Nintendo to release future Call of Duty titles onto the Switch family of devices. While this has yet to come to fruition, recent leaks have claimed that an announcement is incoming – with dataminers now finding further evidence of COD coming to Switch 2 soon.

As shared by known Call of Duty leaker RealityUK, dataminers have discovered strings of code within the latest BO7 update to suggest that Call of Duty is indeed gearing up to be announced for the Switch, with the leaker stating:

“Yeah it's looking like Nintendo x COD is imminent, whenever the next round of Nintendo announcements are, expect that.”

Call of Duty Switch

As mentioned, this is far from the first piece of evidence suggesting that COD is coming to the Switch, with known insider Jez Corden claiming late last year that a port is planned to release “in a few months.”

With the game’s code itself now explicitly listing Nintendo in its ‘PlatformFamily’ section, it appears as though an official announcement is on its way soon. Which Call of Duty it will be however, we will have to wait and see.

The Division 2 gets surprise Realism Mode to celebrate franchise’s 10th anniversary

March 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of Ubisoft’s The Division franchise, and while it failed to meet expectations in some ways, the series still found a dedicated audience who enjoyed the game’s mix of realistic aesthetics with RPG mechanics. For those who wished that The Division was a more hardcore shooter however, Ubisoft have announced a surprise update coming to The Division 2 in a few months – with the new Realism mode offering a more classic shooter experience.

Set to launch in March alongside the franchise’s 10th anniversary, The Division 2’s Realism mode will be available to all those who own the Warlords of New York Expansion. Unlike the traditional Division experience, this new realism mode removes all XP and levelling, instead focusing on horizontal progression.

The Division Realism

Alongside this, the mode is said to reduce HUD elements including the removal of the map and hitmarkers. Additionally, all weapons and gear have been rebalanced, with player health also being reworked so that limb shots are far less effective when compared to headshots – an important feature given that ammo drops have now been reduced.

For many, this realism mode represents what fans wanted from The Division in the first place and so it is encouraging to see Ubisoft addressing this side of the audience. Unfortunately, the realism mode will be a limited-time affair, only going on for the duration of the franchise’s anniversary.

That said, assuming the mode is a success, hopefully Ubisoft are able to learn from this mode, and possibly implement it into the currently-in-development Division 3.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this new mode? Should The Division have always played like this? Is it too little too late? Let us know down below.

Capcom announces Resident Evil Showcase, going live this week

Ahead of Resident Evil Requiem’s much-anticipated launch on the 27th of February, Capcom has been slowly but surely teasing out new bits of information regarding the upcoming sequel – with the publisher confirming that they would be hosting a dedicated RE showcase in early 2026. With Resident Evil Requiem a little over one month away now, Capcom has confirmed that the showcase will go live this Thursday, the 15th of January.

Making the announcement via a brief teaser trailer, Capcom confirmed that they will be hosting a Resident Evil Showcase on Thursday the 15th of January at 2PM PT (10PM UK time).

While very little was offered in the way of details (aside from confirmation that the showcase will focus on the upcoming Requiem) the brief trailer did tease the fact that players will now be able to aim down sights with their weapons when playing in first person – a welcome change when compared to previous entries.

Regardless, Resident Evil Requiem looks set to be one of the best entries in the series yet, both in terms of game mechanics but also narrative and so it will be exciting to see what else Capcom is planning to show off during the showcase.

16-core AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 9965X3D shows up in shipping manifest

AMD appears to be preparing to expand its professional desktop portfolio, bringing its 3D V-Cache technology to the enterprise market for the first time. A new shipping manifest has revealed the Ryzen 9 Pro 9965X3D, a 16-core CPU with a 170W TDP.

The leak, spotted initially by hardware sleuth @Olrak29_ (via VideoCardz), identifies the processor under the product ID 100-000001999. According to the manifest, the chip is a 16-core, 32-thread part with a 170W TDP. This power envelope is particularly notable, as it aligns the Pro model with the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, rather than the more conservative, power-limited SKUs typically found in the series. The “9965” naming convention follows AMD's established pattern of using slightly higher model numbers for its professional-grade chips to distinguish them from their consumer counterparts while maintaining the same underlying Zen 5 architecture.

The database entry marks the processor as being in the Design Validation Testing (DVT) phase. This suggests the silicon is well past the initial Engineering Validation (EVT) stage and is currently undergoing stability and compatibility testing to meet reliability standards. While DVT is a late-stage development milestone, it precedes the final Production Process Validation (PVT), indicating that while a launch is likely, the final release window may still be several months away.

The primary appeal of a Pro X3D chip lies in the intersection of high-capacity L3 cache and business-critical security. While the manifest doesn't explicitly confirm the cache size, we assume it will feature 144 MB of L3, matching the consumer 9950X3D. For professional workloads, this massive cache could provide substantial performance uplifts in latency-sensitive applications. Moreover, the Pro designation confirms the inclusion of the AMD Pro Security stack, including Secure Processor, Shadow Stack, Microsoft Pluton Security, Memory Guard and Platform Secure Boot.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

KitGuru says: The existence of a Ryzen 9 Pro 9965X3D suggests that AMD has recognised a growing demand for X3D technology outside of the gaming sphere. For engineers and developers who require the extra cache for specialised software but also need the IT manageability and security of the Pro platform, this chip can offer the best-of-both-worlds.

Palworld branches into tabletop with official card game

Pocketpair is continuing to invest in the Palworld IP, officially announcing the Palworld Official Card Game at the “Bushiroad New Year Grand Presentation 2026”. Developed in partnership with Bushiroad, the studio behind Cardfight!! Vanguard and Weiß Schwarz, the game aims to translate the survival-crafting loop of the digital hit into a competitive tabletop format. Scheduled for a global launch on July 30th, the TCG marks a step toward establishing Palworld as a multimedia franchise, even as legal battles with Nintendo continue in the background.

The Palworld Official Card Game is designed as a head-to-head, two-player competitive experience. Unlike traditional creature battlers that focus solely on combat, this TCG incorporates the core pillars of the video game: base building and resource management. Players will deploy Pals not just to attack and defend, but to gather the resources necessary to expand their “fortress”. The ultimate goal is to leverage Pals' traits and technological upgrades to overrun the opponent's base. A teaser for this new card game has already been released and is available below via YouTube:

Bushiroad has confirmed that the launch will include starter decks and booster packs, with a full ruleset reveal expected at the Card Game Festival 2026 in Tokyo this May.

With nearly 200 Pals already in the digital game's roster, the TCG has plenty of content for future expansions, including the elemental variations and “Lucky” Pals familiar to veteran players.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

KitGuru says: Partnering with Bushiroad ensures the Palworld TCG has a solid foundation, but the real test will be whether the base-building mechanics feel good in a card game.

PSUs and CPU coolers could be the next victims of the AI boom

The “AI tax” on PC hardware is spreading beyond silicon. After the cost increase for RAM and SSDs, the industry is now bracing for a significant price hike in other fundamental parts of a build: power supplies and cooling solutions. According to a warning issued by Guangzhou Xinhong Zhengdian Electronic Technology, a leading Chinese electronics firm, the surging cost of raw materials, specifically copper, silver, and tin, is forcing an immediate adjustment across the supply chain.

According to the letter shared by MyDrivers (via NotebookCheck), these increases are a direct side effect of the global AI infrastructure boom. While memory makers are busy reallocating wafer capacity to HBM, the construction of massive AI data centres has sent the price of industrial minerals to historic highs. Copper, the primary conductor in PSU transformers and cooler heatpipes, reportedly broke through the $13,000/tonne barrier in early January. Combined with surging silver and tin prices, manufacturers are no longer able to absorb the ballooning production costs.

As such, PSUs will see a 6% to 10% increase, while CPU coolers are slated for a 6% to 8% jump. Upstream suppliers reportedly stopped accepting orders at previous price points as of January 6th, meaning that any stock currently entering the channel is already being calculated at the new and higher rates.

Perhaps more concerning for the average consumer is the impending “promotional purge”. The notice from Guangzhou Xinhong Zhengdian states that all current promotional pricing and vendor discounts will terminate on February 1st. After this date, over 90% of products in these categories are expected to revert to a higher “standard” MSRP, with some products also subject to additional per-item surcharges. This creates a narrow window for builders to secure current inventory before the 2026 pricing baseline resets across the board.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

KitGuru says: We've already seen the impact of the AI boom on the high-end GPU and memory markets, but seeing it trickle down into copper-heavy components like PSUs and air coolers is a grim sign for the 2026 DIY market.

Forza Horizon 5 crosses 5 million sales on PlayStation 5

Microsoft's strategy to bring its established first-party library to competing hardware appears to be working. While Forza Horizon 5 originally served as a flagship showcase for the Xbox Series X|S and Windows back in late 2021, its eventual arrival on the PlayStation 5 in April 2025 has proven that the appetite for high-quality arcade racers remains high across all ecosystems.

According to data shared by Rhys Elliott (via Eurogamer), Forza Horizon 5 has officially surpassed five million copies sold on the PlayStation 5. This performance is particularly noteworthy given its age at the time of its port. Moving five million units of a late 2021 game certainly suggests that the Forza brand has resonated with the PlayStation audience.

Moreover, Elliott reports that the PlayStation 5 version has generated approximately $300 million (£223 million) in revenue to date. This figure reinforces the narrative that Microsoft's multi-platform pivot might be pretty lucrative. The port's success was foreshadowed as early as July last year, when Alinea Analytics noted that the game had become the top-selling new release on PlayStation 5 in 2025, and that sales momentum has clearly persisted into the current year.

This commercial success sets a strong precedent for the franchise's future. Playground Games is currently working on the next instalment in the series, which is scheduled to arrive on Windows and Xbox Series X|S in 2026. While a PlayStation 5 version of the upcoming sequel is confirmed to be in development, no specific release window has been announced yet. Given the significant revenue generated by the current port, it is highly probable that the gap between the Xbox and PlayStation release dates for the next title will be narrower than what we saw with this generation.

Detroit: Become Human hits new milestone with 15 million copies sold

Detroit: Become Human is the latest game from French studio Quantic Dream. Released back in 2018 for PS4 (and PC one year later), the story-focused title saw a mixed reception, with many loving it and others not so much. Despite this, the game has gone on to be a big success for the studio. While fans continue to wait for the studio’s Star Wars Eclipse, Detroit: Become Human has quietly been selling millions more copies – with the title having now surpassed 15 million units sold.

Making the announcement via LinkedIn, the official Quantic Dream page wrote: “We are proud to announce that Detroit: Become Human has surpassed 15 million units sold worldwide;” confirming that the title is now “Quantic Dream’s best-selling game to date.”

Detroit 15 million

For context, Detroit: Become Human reached 8 million copies sold back in January of 2023. This then rose to 9 million by December of the same year – with the game hitting the 10 million mark in October of 2024. Finally, the most recent figures put the game at 11 million copies sold as of February 2025 – meaning it sold a further 4 million copies in less than a year.

Given the game’s relatively mixed reception, it is interesting to see Detroit: Become Human continuing to sell this well so many years later. That said, considering the fact that we are still waiting for the next project from Quantic Dream to be released, it is fortunate for them that the now 7 year old title is continuing to find millions of new players.

Larian confirms Baldur’s Gate 3 won’t be coming to Switch 2

One of the biggest video game successes in recent years has been Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3. Released back in 2023, the RPG took the industry by storm, winning countless awards and selling over 20 million copies. With the Switch 2 launching last year, many have been hoping to see the RPG come to Nintendo’s platform at some point. Unfortunately, Larian have given a seemingly definitive answer.

As part of a recent AMA conducted by Larian Studios on Reddit, roughly a dozen developers from the studio were present to answer fan questions regarding Baldur’s Gate, Divinity or whatever else came to mind.

Responding to one user who asked “Baldur’s Gate 3 for Switch 2? Is it even possible?” Larain’s CEO Swen Vincke offered some disappointing yet interesting details, stating: “We would have loved to but it’s (sic) wasn’t our decision to make.”

Though we unfortunately did not get any further details, Vincke’s wording seems to suggest that the decision to not make a Switch 2 port came from higher-up the ladder – namely the D&D IP owners Wizards of the Coast / Hasbro.

Of course, that’s not to say that a port for Switch 2 could never happen. After all, money talks and assuming the IP owners think that a port of BG3 would make them more money then it could still materialise down the line – perhaps when the Switch 2 has further matured.

We will have to wait and see, but don’t expect Baldur’s Gate 3 to come to the Switch any time soon…if ever.

Fable reportedly launching day-one on PS5 according to insider

Following some slight teasers, Microsoft officially confirmed that they would be hosting their annual Xbox Developer Direct Showcase this month – with the stream set to go live on the 22nd of January. Said to focus on Forza Horizon 6, GameFreak’s Beast of Reincarnation and the highly-anticipated Fable reboot, the latter is reportedly planned to launch day-one on PS5 according to insiders.

In the lead-up to 2026’s Xbox Developer Direct, known industry insider Andy Robinson of VGC offered some early details on the upcoming showcase, claiming that the long-awaitied Fable will be announced as a day-one release for PS5 alongside its expected Xbox launch – stating:

“Fable is day and date (on PS5), that's what I've been told[…] I know they have been targeting PS5 for a while.”

Fable Forza

Given that Forza Horizon 5 was only ported to PS5 relatively recently, there was not much of an expectation that its sequel would arrive day-and-date with the Xbox release. Even so, Robinson offered some additional details on this matter, claiming: “As for Forza the explanation I was told by someone who was there was it just wasn't ready.”

Between Forza and Fable, having the latter as a day-one release makes the most sense, not only due to the fact that Horizon 5 is still relatively new to the PS5 platform, but also due to the upcoming RPG likely needing as much help as it can get sales-wise (especially compared to Forza).

Regardless, we should hopefully learn all about these two upcoming titles when the Xbox Developer Direct goes live on the 22nd of January.

Steam breaks concurrent player record with over 42 million users

While Steam is easily the biggest platform for gaming on the PC side of things, Valve’s storefront continues to find new players on a consistent basis. Just a few months on from their last major milestone, Steam has officially reached a new peak concurrent player count of over 42 million users.

As published by the tracking site SteamDB, Sunday the 11th of January saw Valve's platform reach a new milestone figure, with over 42 million users all online at the same time (42,042,778 to be exact).

As mentioned, this marks a notable increase over the previous record, which saw Steam hit 41 million back in October of last year. That said, the platform has been growing quite quickly for the past few years now, with it hitting 34 million concurrents for the first time back in March of 2024.

Since then, Steam seems to have been on a roll, with the platform hitting 36 million just a few weeks later; surpassing 37 million by August 2024 – and reaching 39 million by December.

Steam 42 million

While 2025 was slightly slower, we still saw record player numbers multiple times, with Steam hitting 40 million concurrents in March of 2025 and then 41 million by October.

Of course, concurrent users is but one metric which can be used to determine a service’s success – with daily active users, monthly active users and more being arguably more useful metrics. Still, having over 42 million people active on Steam at the exact same time is impressive. It will be curious to see whether the platform ever manages to reach 50 million concurrents.

The Division 3 is “shaping up to be a monster” according to Ubisoft

The Division is one of Ubisoft’s more interesting franchises. While the first game disappointed many due to a number of visual downgrades when compared to its pre-release materials, the series did find a dedicated audience who enjoyed the gameplay loop. That said, it’s now been almost 7 years since The Division 2’s launch and while fans await the previously-announced 3rd entry, Ubisoft have offered some slight teasers, claiming it to be “shaping up to be a monster.”

During the New Game+ Showcase, The Division 3’s executive producer Julian Gerighty offered an update on the long-awaited threequel.

While we did not get any footage of the title, according to Gerighty: “It’s shaping up to be a monster. I can’t really say anything more than that. But this is within these walls in Massive. We are working extremely hard on something that I think will be as big an impact as Division 1 was.”

The Division Ubisoft

As mentioned, while The Division as a series does have its problems, the first game did indeed make a big impact back in the day – especially in its pre-release period where the game served as a bit of a then-next-gen showpiece.

Given that we’ve seen nothing from The Division 3 yet, it is possible that Ubisoft are planning to line the title up with the next-gen PS6, which would make for quite a notable upgrade over 2019’s Division 2. Regardless, here’s to hoping that when The Division 3 is shown off that Ubisoft are more honest in their presentation of the title.

Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed officially launches on PS5 next month

While Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed failed to live up to the high expectations which some fans had for the title upon its release last year, the Xbox console exclusive was a solid title in its own right – even if it wasn’t the Skyrim successor which many were hoping for. With updates to the game still planned for 2026, a PS5 port for Avowed has now been officially announced – set to launch exactly one year on from its Xbox release.

Announced during the recent New Game+ Showcase, Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed has been officially confirmed to be launching on PlayStation 5 next month; arriving on the 17th of February 2026 (almost exactly one year on from its Xbox release).

Available to pre-order now for £39.99 (£49.99 for the Premium Edition), the PS5 release will arrive alongside the game’s long-awaited ‘Winter Update’ (which was initially planned to release late last year).

Avowed PS5

Now labelled as the Anniversary update, the patch is set to include the long awaited new game+ mode alongside a new weapon type; character presets; appearance modifiers; new races; a photo mode and more.

As mentioned, Avowed was a decent game in its own right though was held back due to fans expecting it to be the next Skyrim-like experience. With a pretty fun first-person magic combat system and solid exploration however, Avowed could be worth checking out when it launches on PS5 next month.

Noctua updates roadmap, Pulsar Feinman mouse & Seasonic Prime PX PSU pushed back

Noctua has opened the new year by updating its public product roadmap. As some might've guessed, the January 2026 schedule is defined primarily by shifting deadlines. While the list of upcoming hardware remains identical to the last version published, Noctua has moved the majority of its near-term releases further back into the year.

The first quarter of 2026 was initially slated to be a busy period for the brand, but the updated roadmap (via Hardware&Co) sees two out of three major launches slip. The Antec Flux Pro Noctua Edition chassis remains the sole survivor of the Q1 window, standing as the only product currently on track for an immediate release. Meanwhile, the Pulsar Feinman Noctua Edition gaming mouse and the much-requested NF-A12x25 G2 chromax.black fans have both been pushed into Q2. Also in Q2, there's the company's first AIO liquid coolers.

Moving on to Q3, we have the Seasonic Prime PX Noctua Edition PSU, which has been a staple of Noctua's trade show booths for over a year. The PSU is joined by the 140 mm desk fan and the dedicated USB fan controller, both originally slated for Q2.

This latest update is perhaps most significant for what it doesn't include. No new product entries have been added to the roadmap, suggesting Noctua is currently prioritising the completion of its existing projects over new experimental designs.

KitGuru says: For those waiting on the Seasonic collaboration or the all-in-one liquid coolers, it seems you'll have to wait a bit longer. If these new targets hold, the Prime PX PSU series will finally arrive more than twelve months after its initial public presentation, continuing Noctua's reputation for prioritising “quality optimisation” over strict adherence to a calendar.

CES 2026: ASRock showcases new AIO coolers, QD-OLED monitor

At CES this week, we caught up with ASRock to get a first-hand look at their new line-up of AIO liquid coolers, a new QD-OLED monitor and new compact PCs.

Watch via YouTube below:

Timestamps:
00:00 New 27in 4K QD-OLED
00:44 Mini PCs and NUC systems
01:19 Full range of PSUs
03:09 ASRock’s new AIOs too
04:28 and finally the mobos: Rock + Challenger

ASRock’s 2026 liquid‑cooler lineup is led by the Taichi AQUA series, which features a dual‑mode top cover that switches between a magnetic 3.4‑inch LCD and a transparent window for viewing coolant flow. The Taichi AQUA 360 LCD uses a dual‑pump design rated for 500W+ workloads, paired with a 38mm radiator, an integrated flow indicator and LCP fans with dual‑ball‑bearing construction and IP54 protection.

For workstation platforms such as AMD sTR5 and Intel LGA4677, the WS series carries over the same dual‑pump 500W+ architecture but adds a full‑coverage cold plate sized for high‑core‑count CPUs. ASRock positions it for sustained, heavy‑load operation.

The Phantom Gaming 360 LCD targets gaming systems with a 3.4‑inch display, 32mm radiator and a 3‑phase, 6‑slot pump. A VRM cooling module assists around the socket, supported by high‑output fans and a Halo ARGB frame. Steel Legend offers a more durability‑focused variant with the same LCD, pump and VRM module, backed by LCP fans. For mainstream builders, the Challenger and Pro series prioritise ease of installation. Challenger models include a 3‑inch smart display, pre‑installed fans and a quick‑release bracket, while the Pro series adds ARGB lighting and tuned fans for balanced cooling and noise.

On the monitor front, ASRock is showing the TCO237USA-W. This is a 240Hz QD-OLED monitor arriving in Q2, so we expect more details in the coming months.

The ASRock DeskSlim returns in 2026 with new models packing both Intel and AMD hardware. Despite being an ultra-small NUC system, a DeskSlim can pack in an Intel Arc Battlemage discrete graphics card, so you can get some extra graphical horsepower beyond integrated graphics.

In our full video you can also get a look at ASRock power supplies, alongside a range of motherboards – including a very peculiar board that has both DDR4 and DDR5 RAM slots. With the way the DDR5 market has been going in recent months, we may need to see more of those on the market.
