Pokémon TCG: Amazon Has Restocked a Bunch of Sealed Booster Sets in the UK Today

Lots of Pokémon TCG sets are feeling like gold dust right now, but Amazon UK has just provided a restock of great booster bundles — like those from Temporal Forces and Shrouded Fable — with plenty of others still available as well.

While we're still waiting to get invites to buy the Prismatic Evolutions Accessory Pouch Special Collection & 151 Blooming Waters Premium Collection at Amazon UK, these will be good enough to keep us going in the meantime.

Temporal Forces is back in two assortments over at Amazon UK: the Booster Display Box with 18 booster packs for £71.82 and the 36-pack version from £159.99. If you've yet to add any of the powerful ACE SPEC cards to your collection, here's the ideal chance to try and pull one or two.

Next, there's the Shrouded Fable Elite Trainer Box from the Scarlet & Violet set. For £44.99, you get nine boosters, a Pecharunt foil card, 65 card sleeves, 45 Energy cards, damage counter dice, a coin-flip die, two condition markers, a player's guide, and a stylish collector's box where you can keep everything tucked away.

Paradox Pokemon fans will also be pleased to know that the Paradox Fury Premium Collection is back in stock as well. Based on the Paradox versions of Johto's Legendary Dog trio, the premium collection offers seven Paradox Fury boosters along with the foil cards Walking Wake ex, Raging Bolt ex, and Gouging Fire ex.

In addition to a magnetic three-card holder, the collection even comes with an oversized display version of the Raging Bolt card.

If you're still after some Journey Together boosters, Amazon UK has those in stock too — selling 36-pack display boxes for £179.99, 14% down from the £209.99 price it was before. Although, the nine-booster Journey Together Elite Trainer box is also available, but for a hefty £74.99, way above RRP of £44.99

For more Paradox Pokemon cards, the retailer also has a handful of the 36-pack display boxes of Paradox Rift left as well for £153.98.

However, if you don't need as many boosters from that set, Amazon is also selling a handy Paradox Rift Iron Valiant Elite Trainer Box & Arctibax Triple Pack bundle for £57.98.

With it, you'll get 12 boosters in total, a foil Scream Tail or Iron Bundle promo card, 65 Iron Valiant Sleeves, Energy cards, a player's guide, and an Arctibax foil promo card.

GTA 6 Trailer 2 Released, Rockstar Tells Fans to 'Explore Vice City and Beyond'

Rockstar has released Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2, hot on the heels of announcing a big delay to the game.

The trailer, below, was captured on PlayStation 5, and offers a detailed look at what to expect from GTA 6's story.

"Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them," Rockstar said in the official description.

"But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive."

Rockstar's GTA 6 website now contains lots of new information on the Vice City-set game, including bios for playable protagonists Jason and Lucia and the cast of supporting characters. Here's the official blurb, alongside brand new screenshots.

Grand Theft Auto VI Characters

Jason Duval

Jason wants an easy life, but things just keep getting harder. Jason grew up around grifters and crooks. After a stint in the Army trying to shake off his troubled teens, he found himself in the Keys doing what he knows best, working for local drug runners. It might be time to try something new.

Meeting Lucia could be the best or worst thing to ever happen to him. Jason knows how he'd like it to turn out but right now, it's hard to tell.

Lucia Caminos

Lucia’s father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk. Life has been coming at her swinging ever since. Fighting for her family landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary. Sheer luck got her out. Lucia’s learned her lesson — only smart moves from here.

More than anything, Lucia wants the good life her mom has dreamed of since their days in Liberty City — but instead of half-baked fantasies, Lucia is prepared to take matters into her own hands.

Fresh out of prison and ready to change the odds in her favor, Lucia’s committed to her plan — no matter what it takes. A life with Jason could be her way out.

Cal Hampton

What if everything on the internet was true? Jason’s friend and a fellow associate of Brian’s, Cal feels safest hanging at home, snooping on Coast Guard comms with a few beers and some private browser tabs open.

The psychopaths are in charge. Get used to it. Cal is at the low tide of America and happy there. Casual paranoia loves company, but his friend Jason has bigger plans.

Boobie Ike

It's all about heart — the Jack of Hearts. Boobie is a local Vice City legend — and acts like it. One of the few to transform his time in the streets into a legitimate empire spanning real estate, a strip club, and a recording studio — Boobie's all smiles until it's time to talk business.

Top quality cuts. Boobie might seem like he's just out for himself, but it's his partnership with the young aspiring music mogul Dre'Quan for Only Raw Records that he's most invested in — now they just need a hit.

Dre'Quan Priest

Only Raw... Records. Dre'Quan was always more of a hustler than a gangster. Even when he was dealing on the streets to make ends meet, breaking into music was the goal.

You're with the label now. Now that he's signed the Real Dimez, Dre'Quan's days of booking acts into Boobie's strip club might be numbered as he sets his sights on the Vice City scene.

Real Dimez

Viral videos. Viral hooks. Bae-Luxe and Roxy aka Real Dimez have been friends since high school — girls with the savvy to turn their time shaking down local dealers into cold, hard cash via spicy rap tracks and a relentless social media presence.

One hit away from fame. An early hit single with local rapper DWNPLY took Real Dimez to new heights. Now, after five years and a whole lot of trouble, they’re signed to Only Raw Records, hoping lightning can strike twice.

Raul Bautista

Experience counts. Confidence, charm, and cunning — Raul’s a seasoned bank robber always on the hunt for talent ready to take the risks that bring the biggest rewards.

A professional adapts. Raul's recklessness raises the stakes with every score. Sooner or later, his crew will have to double down or pull their chips from the table.

Brian Heder

Nothing better than a Mudslide at sunset. Brian's a classic drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys. Still moving product through his boat yard with his third wife, Lori, Brian's been around long enough to let others do his dirty work.

Looks like a Leonida beach bum — moves like a great white shark. Brian’s letting Jason live rent-free at one of his properties — so long as he helps with local shakedowns, and stops by for Lori’s sangria once in a while.

Rockstar also released information and screenshots on the explorable places in the state of Leonida, GTA 6's take on Florida.

Grand Theft Auto VI cities, places, and environments

Vice City

Everything in Excess. We're a long way from the '80s, but Vice City is still the sun and fun capital of America.

The glamour, hustle, and greed of America captured in a single city. Each neighborhood has something to offer, from the pastel art deco hotels and bright white sands of Ocean Beach, to the bustling panaderías of Little Cuba and the bootleg brands of the Tisha-Wocka flea market, out to the VC Port, the cruise ship capital of the world.

Leonida Keys

Gateway to Paradise. The dress code is casual, the bars are loaded.

Life in this tropical archipelago isn’t flashy but it’s easy. Get your buzz on and pull up a deck chair but look out — you are right on the doorstep of some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in all of America.

Grassrivers

Welcome to the Wetlands. The untamable jewel of Leonida’s crown.

You never know what lies beneath the surface of this primordial expanse. The gators may be the most famous attraction, but there are far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries among the mangroves.

Last week, Rockstar delayed GTA 6 from fall 2025 to May 26, 2026, in a significant push to the world's most anticipated game. The GTA 6 official website still lists GTA 6 for launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, suggesting a PC release will come after.

Rockstar released GTA 6 Trailer 1 in December 2023, which means Trailer 2 arrives one year, five months, and two days later. For comparison's sake, the time between GTA 5's Trailers 1 and 2 was one year, five months, and 28 days.

Developing...

Xbox Game Pass May 2025 Wave 1 Lineup Confirmed

Microsoft has confirmed Wave 1 of the Xbox Game Pass May 2025 lineup.

In a post on Xbox Wire, Microsoft revealed 12 games hitting its subscription service, taking us up to May 20. The biggest hitter here is Doom: The Dark Ages, the latest game in id Software’s world-famous first-person shooter series. That is, as a Microsoft-owned game, a day-one Game Pass launch. But it’s not the only day-one Game Pass launch of May 2025.

Available today, May 6, is Dredge (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S), which hits Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard. Here’s the official blurb, from Microsoft:

Dredge is a single-player fishing adventure with a sinister undercurrent. Sell your catch, upgrade your boat, and dredge the depths for long-buried secrets. Explore a mysterious archipelago and discover why some things are best left forgotten.

May 7 is a big day for Game Pass, with a number of additions: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (Cloud, Console, and PC) on Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard; Dungeons of Hinterberg (Console), now on Game Pass Standard; Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn (Xbox Series X|S), now on Game Pass Standard; and Metal Slug Tactics (Console), also now on Game Pass Standard.

Here’s a big one: May 8 sees Revenge of the Savage Planet (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S) hit Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass as a day-one title.

In a future knocked off its axis by corporate greed and stupidity, you have been made redundant and abandoned on the far edge of space with little gear and no safety net. You must explore every nook and cranny, collect dozens of upgrades, and turn over every mysterious alien rock if you want to get revenge on your former employer and return to Earth.

Also on May 8, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed (Cloud, Console, and PC) joins Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard.

Join the legendary Turtle brothers straight from the sewer and slide into this new adventure of shell-shocking proportions. With the help of April’s insightful reports from the streets and Splinter’s sage guidance, gear up to fight crime and unravel an epic saga of justice and chaos!

Moving on to May 13, we’ve got Warhammer: Vermintide 2 (Cloud and Console) on Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass Standard.

Making a return to the Game Pass library! Fight together with your friends against the forces of Chaos and Skaven in this epic 4-player co-op game set in the Warhammer Fantasy Battles world. Vermintide 2 expands the intense first-person combat with a brand-new enemy faction, 15 new career paths, talent trees, new weapons, an improved loot system, and more.

The main event is of course Doom: The Dark Ages (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S), on May 15 when the shooter hits Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass day-one.

Doom: The Dark Ages is the prequel to the critically acclaimed Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal that tells an epic cinematic story worthy of the Doom Slayer’s legend. In this third installment of the modern Doom series, players will step into the blood-stained boots of the Doom Slayer, in this never-before-seen dark and sinister medieval war against Hell. Get a head start on slaying demons with the Premium Upgrade, including up to 2-Day Early Access, the campaign DLC at launch, and more.

A day later, on May 16, Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo (Cloud, Console, and PC) launches on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass as yet another day-one title.

Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo is a papercraft adventure game where you’ll meet the many good and not-so-good folks of Limbo, a place where souls with deep regrets are cursed into repeating the same day on a loop.

Rounding out the May 2025 Wave 1 lineup on May 20 are Firefighting Simulator: The Squad (Cloud, Console, and PC) across Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard, and Police Simulator: Patrol Officers (Cloud, Console, and PC) also across Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard.

Doesn’t Matter If It’s Thunderbolts or New Avengers, WTF Is the MCU Doing With Bucky Barnes?

This article contains spoilers for Thunderbolts.

Thunderbolts finally joined the MCU pantheon last week after a long wait and high anticipation. While none of us were quite ready for the film’s emotional exploration of depression and the quest to find one’s purpose, it was a welcome addition to Marvel’s traditional storytelling that clearly resonated with fans. While I’m on board with all of that, you might have already read just how much Thunderbolt’s ending missed the mark for me and, unfortunately, I have one more bone to pick with the MCU. Not to put too fine a point on it or anything, but I would like to know what in the hell this franchise is doing with Bucky Barnes. His trajectory in the last two films has been strange at best, and where we leave him at the end of Thunderbolts is downright irritating.

First we had the whole congressman situation unceremoniously dropped in our laps in Captain America: Brave New World. It didn’t make a lick of sense, but it was so out of the blue and so far-fetched for the MCU’s iteration of James Buchanan Barnes (Sebastian Stan) that it was hard not to laugh. Brave New World was already chock-full of distractions pulling from Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson with the film being a stealth Red Hulk movie and all, so it was pretty easy to write the moment off and hope Thunderbolts would offer some meaningful context.

No such context came, though, and Bucky’s MCU narrative only got worse.

Even worse, it became immediately evident that Bucky either had no interest in being a congressman or absolutely no knowledge of what it would entail. He wants to impeach Valentina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) but isn’t even reading the packets?! To the point where it needs to be a scene?!

Listen. You do not become a United States congressman by accident. It is something that you have to actively choose. And, when you’re a former mind-controlled assassin whose history is so complex it broke the first iteration of the Avengers nearly beyond repair, you have to campaign like hell to convince people you’re not going to literally (or figuratively) blow more stuff up. America might have a history of electing some real pieces of work both in reality and fiction, but the kind of detachment from reality that benefits the Wilson Fisks of the world in voting scenarios doesn’t transfer to actually decent people so far as history and voters are concerned. In short: Bucky very likely had to fight for something he didn’t even want and, worst of all, made no dang sense for his character. But don’t worry, it gets worse.

Smash cut to the post-credits scene of Thunderbolts, where it’s revealed that not only did Bucky go along with Yelena (Florence Pugh) and the rest of the team when it came to letting Valentina get away with everything, but he was destroying his relationship with Sam over it.

Let’s start with the Valentina of it all. Bucky has a whole conversation with Val’s assistant Mel (Geraldine Viswanathan) in the first act of the film where he tells her that he didn’t have a choice who he worked for when he was Winter Soldier, but Mel does when it comes to working with Valentina. Mere days later, Bucky and the team are working for the enemy.

The film tries to skirt this with perhaps the least meaningful resolution to a Marvel movie yet with Yelena’s little “we own you now” whisper during Valentina’s press conference revealing the New Avengers, but the thinly veiled threat means absolutely nothing. Valentina got away with murder, and all of the Thunderbolts are now complicit.

Here’s the thing about the Thunderbolts, though. For the rest of the team, working with the evil overlord because of your own hubris makes sense. John Walker (Wyatt Russell)? Absolutely belongs on a team with Valentina. The guy hasn’t known right from wrong since the second he dosed up on super soldier serum and now has a misguided chance to absolve himself. Ghost (Hannah John Kamen)? Bless you girlie, I want nothing but wonderful things for you but the trajectory tracks. Red Guardian (David Harbour)? Yeah! Obviously. He wants to be with his daughter and he wants fame and fortune. Yelena? She’s still too green to see past her own ego and believes that she has the upper hand for once.

But Bucky? No. Bucky Barnes being willing to be tied to a woman who he knows murdered a bunch of people to get a super soldier serum on steroids is profoundly against character. Bucky’s past is marred with sins, but he didn’t make any of those choices. We were all able to collectively absolve Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) for the people he killed while under Loki’s (Tom Hiddleston) control, but all it takes is one weepy Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) for everyone to forget that Bucky Barnes was kidnapped, tortured, and used against his will for decades.

All of the above would be ridiculous on its own, but the Sam Wilson situation is where it shifts from absurd to inexcusable. At the beginning of Thunderbolts’ second post-credits scene, a forlorn Bucky sits on a couch in the tacky redesign of Avengers tower, lamenting to his new team that not only would Sam not be giving up the name “Avengers” but that he would be suing them for the rights.

Back in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Bucky delivers the most poignant line of his MCU tenure in “because if he was wrong about you then he was wrong about me!” It’s an emotional exchange between him and Sam, where Bucky’s frustration over the future Captain America’s reticence to take on the shield and all that it means finally comes to a head. Sam must be Captain America because Steve Rogers chose him to be, and if Steve made the wrong choice then maybe that means that his faith in his best friend was unfounded. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is marred with issues, but developing Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes’ relationship is the best aspect of the series by a mile.

Steve Rogers’ two best friends eventually become all that each other has as they fight through their respective struggles and gradually become best friends themselves. The MCU further solidifies this point by having Bucky appear right when Sam needed him the most in Brave New World. To then have Bucky completely betray Sam to side with a smarmy war criminal who made it her mission to create a would-be god? And to cram it all in a throwaway post-credits scene? Infuriating.

I don't know what the MCU is doing with Bucky right now, but boy do I hope they course correct before we have another Civil War on our hands.

Backbone Pro Review

When it launched in 2020, the Backbone One made a big splash in the mobile gaming scene. It offered a near-perfect way to experience mobile games, thanks to its compact, portable design, direct connection, and an excellent companion app that tied everything together. Since then, the mobile gaming landscape has evolved significantly – game streaming is more reliable, smartphones are more powerful, and recent games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage can now be played natively, with no console required.

Backbone’s latest release, the aptly named Backbone Pro, upgrades the original with customizable back buttons, full-size analog sticks, and Bluetooth connectivity. While it's not designed to replace the Backbone One, the Pro is a premium phone controller for players who want to game across multiple screens or are looking for a higher-end mobile gaming experience.

Backbone Pro – Design and Features

The Backbone Pro retains much of the design language from the Backbone One – from the distinctive trapezoidal shape to the button layout and extendable central area – but introduces several upgrades that deliver a more premium gaming experience. The first thing you’ll notice is the larger grips. While they nearly double the height of the Backbone Pro when compared to the original, they significantly improve comfort and ergonomics, especially during longer play sessions. A subtle micro-texture on the grips enhances the feel and helps prevent slippage, making the controller both functional and pleasant to hold.

But, there's a more important reason for the larger grips beyond improved ergonomics; the Backbone Pro now supports Bluetooth, allowing it to connect to a wide range of devices beyond just smartphones. This upgrade requires more sophisticated internals and dual built-in rechargeable batteries, which deliver up to 40 hours of playtime. The batteries add some heft without making the device feel heavy, instead creating a pleasant balance that feels great in hand.

The Backbone Pro supports two distinct modes: Handheld Mode, which uses a direct USB-C connection for near-zero latency gaming when your phone is docked, and Wireless Mode, which enables Bluetooth connectivity with devices like tablets (including iPads), laptops (PC and Mac), VR headsets (such as Meta Quest and Apple Vision Pro), and even select smart TVs with cloud gaming support.

A new feature called FlowState delivers a seamless connectivity experience reminiscent of AirPods, letting you switch between devices with a single tap. By allowing simultaneous connections to multiple devices, it eliminates the usual Bluetooth re-pairing hassle when jumping between screens. Like AirPods, the Backbone Pro also receives firmware updates automatically in the background, keeping the device current without interrupting gameplay.

As with many “Pro” devices today, the Backbone Pro includes two customizable rear buttons to enhance your gameplay. Positioned comfortably on the inner grips where your fingers naturally rest, they’re easy to reach without straining. While Backbone intentionally designed them to avoid accidental presses, I still experienced a few unintended activations while testing. That being said, they’re both comfortable to use and simple to assign, adding a layer of flexibility for players who want deeper control.

Another major upgrade in the Backbone Pro is the inclusion of full-size thumbsticks. Their larger size delivers a more console-like feel, with a concave shape and textured edges that enhance grip and precision. While they don’t use Hall effect sensors, which may disappoint some users, they’re still snappy, responsive, and satisfying to use.

The rear triggers have been upgraded with Hall effect sensors for greater accuracy and reliability. They offer buttery smooth actuation and feature a laser-etched texture that helps keep your fingers securely in place.

The face buttons and D-pad have also received a subtle upgrade, now featuring a premium translucent finish. They feel more responsive than before and are noticeably quieter to press. Rounding out the hardware, the Backbone Pro includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and a Bluetooth pairing button on the bottom left grip.

While the previous Backbone One featured a passthrough charging port, the Pro expands on this feature with the introduction of Parallel Charging. This allows the device to intelligently top off its internal battery while your phone charges through the USB-C passthrough. The result is less hassle with charging and more time jumping into games, no matter what screen you're using.

Despite all the advanced tech packed into the Backbone Pro, it still weighs in at just under 200 grams, making it one of the lightest "Pro" controllers on the market. Keep in mind, that’s just the controller alone. Once your phone is docked, the total weight can vary. Still, in Wireless Mode, the controller maintains a balanced, comfortable feel in the hand.

The Backbone Pro is compatible with USB-C smartphones, including the iPhone 15 and newer, as well as most Android smartphones. It comes with two upgraded, interchangeable magnetic adapters that let you use it with or without a phone case. Like the Backbone One, it doesn’t include built-in rumble, but it does take advantage of the iPhone’s haptic feedback to simulate vibrations in supported games.

Backbone Pro – Software

Like the hardware itself, the Backbone app has seen a number of updates since my last review. It still serves as a central hub for all your games and services, but now leans more heavily into discovery and getting you into your next game as quickly as possible.

Within the app, you can play native games from the App Store, Apple Arcade, Google Play, Google Play Pass, and Netflix Games, or stream from services like Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Remote Play, Steam, Nvidia GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna.

Adding games is as simple as pressing the Backbone button while you're in-game. This automatically adds the game to your launcher so everything stays in one place. While this works most of the time, I still ran into a few games that refused to be added. It’s not a dealbreaker since you can always launch them manually from your phone’s home screen, but it puts a slight damper on what is otherwise a seamless experience.

If you're using the Backbone Pro, you can take things even further with customization. Remap any button, adjust thumbstick dead zones, fine-tune trigger sensitivity, and save unique profiles for individual games that can be swapped with a tap.

Backbone+ is also receiving updates alongside the Pro's launch. For those unfamiliar, Backbone+ is a subscription service that provides discounts on hardware and accessories, more than $35 worth of in-game rewards, and unlocks additional app features like 1080p/60fps game capture with cloud storage, Twitch streaming from within the app, and more.

One new addition is the Backbone Emulator, which supports retro gaming by integrating popular emulator cores like NES, SNES, Game Boy, and GBA directly into the app, with more cores planned for future updates. Backbone+ members will also soon gain access to a rotating library of free games for both Backbone One and Backbone Pro.

Backbone Pro – Gaming

Backbone Pro makes meaningful upgrades over the original Backbone One in nearly every way, and it’s apparent when using it across a wide range of games. Whether I was bouncing between shooters like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 or dabbling in some Katamari Damacy Rolling LIVE, the Backbone Pro never skipped a beat.

The full-size thumbsticks feel significantly better to use and are on par with those of the PS5 DualSense or Xbox Wireless Controller. The same goes for the upgraded triggers, which are satisfyingly clicky and highly responsive. I was already a fan of the D-pad on the Backbone One, but this version somehow feels even better. It’s nearly silent and silky smooth, making it easy to slide between inputs with precision.

It took some getting used to using the Backbone Pro as a standalone controller since my hands are farther apart than usual, but the ergonomic design and well-balanced weight help it feel natural, even during long gaming sessions.

While I spent a good chunk of time in Handheld Mode, I was pleasantly surprised by how well the Backbone Pro worked with the Meta Quest 2 when streaming Xbox Game Pass games. Despite the potential for latency between cloud streaming and Bluetooth input, there was virtually no input lag, even in fast-paced shooters like Call of Duty or Fortnite.

An interesting party trick that I managed to pull off with the Backbone Pro was the ability to somewhat “handoff” games between devices. For example, I booted up a game on Xbox Game Pass in the Meta Quest 2 in Wireless Mode, paused it mid-game, docked my phone and swapped over to Handheld Mode and was able to fire the game up in the Backbone app, unpause, and pick up exactly where I left off. While this certainly won’t work with every game, it was a cool glimpse at what’s possible as cloud gaming continues to evolve.

Even though the Backbone Pro needs to be recharged in Wireless Mode, battery life was never an issue during testing. Parallel Charging while in Handheld Mode kept it topped up as it charged my phone, and unless you're using it exclusively as a standalone controller, you’ll rarely need to worry about battery at all.

Xbox Games The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, Minecraft, and Forza Horizon 5 Top Sony’s PS5 Sales Charts

Microsoft’s multiplatform strategy is clearly paying off when it comes to launching on PlayStation 5 as well as Xbox Series X and S and PC.

Confirmation comes from Sony itself, via a PlayStation blog post that revealed the top-selling PlayStation Store games for April 2025.

In the U.S. and Canada, the top three spots on PS5's non free-to-play download chart were all taken by Microsoft games: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, Minecraft, and Forza Horizon 5.

It was a similar situation in Europe, with Forza Horizon 5 on top, followed by The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, then Minecraft.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which Microsoft backed by signing a deal for a day-one Game Pass launch as well as an appearance in Xbox showcase broadcasts, also appeared high up on both charts.

And let’s not forget Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, from Microsoft-owned Activision, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, from Microsoft-owned Bethesda, both of which appear in the charts.

What does this tell us? That good games, whether they come from Microsoft or otherwise, top the sales charts. That’s perhaps no surprise. It’s also no surprise to see these games do well on PlayStation. The PS5 was screaming out for a game like Playground’s wonderful racer, Forza Horizon 5, so its April launch on the console was hotly anticipated. Then there’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which is scratching that Bethesda itch across PC and console, and the eternally popular Minecraft, even more popular now with the Minecraft movie going viral and breaking records.

This is now the new normal for Microsoft, which just announced Gears of War: Reloaded for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation coming in August. It seems inevitable that Halo, what was once the flagship Xbox exclusive, will also make the jump.

Last year, Microsoft’s gaming chief Phil Spencer said there were no “red lines” in its first-party lineup when it comes to going multiplatform — and that included Halo. Speaking to Bloomberg, Spencer said every Xbox game is up for grabs when it comes to making the multiplatform jump. “I do not see sort of red lines in our portfolio that say ‘thou must not,’ ” he said.

Spencer has said Xbox’s multiplatform push is in part about bringing in more money to Microsoft’s gaming business — with the pressure on to deliver following its eye-watering $69 billion acquisition of Call of Duty maker Activision Blizzard.

“We run a business,” Spencer said in August. “It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. Because we get a level of support from the company that’s just amazing and what we’re able to go do.

“So I look at this, how can we make our games as strong as possible? Our platform continues to grow, on console, on PC, and on cloud. It’s just going to be a strategy that works for us.”

As former Xbox executive Peter Moore told IGN last year, bringing Halo to PlayStation will have been a topic of discussion at Microsoft for some time.

“Look, if Microsoft says, wait, we're doing $250 million on our own platforms, but if we then took Halo as, let's call it a third-party, we could do a billion… You got to think long and hard about that, right?” Moore said.

“I mean, you just got to go, yeah, should it be kept? It's a piece of intellectual property. It's bigger than just a game. And how do you leverage that? Those are the conversations that always happen with, how do you leverage it in everything that we would do?

“It's had its ups and downs, but look, Xbox wouldn't be what Xbox is without Halo. But yeah, I'm sure those conversations are happening. Whether they come to fruition, who knows? But they're definitely happening, I'm sure.”

Microsoft does face a potential backlash from hardcore Xbox fans who are already disgruntled after what they feel is a devaluing of the Xbox as a console, the lack of exclusives, and Microsoft’s marketing strategy for its gaming business. Losing Halo to PlayStation could spark yet another angry response, but Moore told IGN that won’t deter Microsoft from doing what’s right for its business.

“The question would be, ultimately, is that reaction enough not to make a fundamental business decision for the future of not only Microsoft’s business, but gaming in itself?” Moore said. “Those hardcore are getting smaller in size and older in age. You've got to cater to the generations that are coming through, because they're going to drive the business over the next 10, 20 years.”

Forza Horizon 5 Deserves to Be on PlayStation

Put simply, there’s nothing on PlayStation 5 quite like Forza Horizon 5.

The Crew Motorfest? Close. Leaning hard into the philosophy of ‘if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em’, its fully fledged festival approach certainly makes Motorfest more like the Forza Horizon series than either of its predecessors.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown? Sadly, no. The Forza Horizon series itself may owe a significant debt to the trendsetting MMO racing of the original Test Drive Unlimited, but Solar Crown went on to fly too close to the sun in this department. An always-online racer with no dedicated solo component? The Horizon series has allowed players to seamlessly slip between offline and online play since 2014’s Forza Horizon 2!

Need for Speed Unbound? Well, there are definitely several areas of Need for Speed’s impressive customisation suite that handily eclipse Horizon, but Unbound’s arcade focus on high speed hot pursuits means it’s not really a like-for-like comparison.

No, the pound-for-pound champ of modern open world racing is Forza Horizon 5 – and now it’s available on PlayStation 5 for the very first time. Its broad and beautiful Mexico map. Its delectably drift-friendly vehicle dynamics. Its mammoth, 900-odd car garage that goes way beyond just featuring the essentials, and is brimming with cult favourite cars that simply aren’t available in any other racing game. The whole box and dice. PlayStation users are being immersed in all of this, many for the very first time.

The reaction has been fun to watch.

This influx of brand new players has been something the team has been particularly looking forward to.

“Yeah, I’m super excited,” confirms Playground Games art director Don Arceta. “Like, brand new people; for many, this will probably be the first Forza Horizon game that they’ve ever played. So it’s super exciting just to think about that, and think about what our first Horizon experiences were.”

Arceta is especially keen to see what kinds of places and races PlayStation 5 players begin creating with Forza Horizon 5’s huge set of customisation tools – the Event Lab.

You’ll actually get some pretty good Halo content too on the PlayStation, with the event lab props!

“We have over 800 props now in the Event Lab, and just seeing what the community’s done with that feature and mode – and the creativity of the community – it’s just mind blowing,” he continues. “I’m super excited, once we get into the PlayStation 5 users, about what they'll build, and the creativity that will come from that community.”

“You’ll actually get some pretty good Halo content too on the PlayStation, with the event lab props!”

In pleasing news, the port itself is proving to be as technically impeccable as its Xbox and PC counterparts, which is some flex considering the sheer girth of the game – and the fact that the engine that underpins it has never been unleashed on PlayStation before.

“As you can imagine, because the series has been based around the Xbox environment and architecture, there’s a lot of code and engineering that’s worked with that,” says Arceta. “So when we brought it to the PS5, it was no small undertaking. It was quite a huge task.”

“The PlayStation 5 version was developed by Panic Button, in collaboration with Turn 10 and ourselves, but Panic Button did an amazing job. So you get that amazing, quality experience that you get on Xbox and PC – now you get on the PlayStation, and it’s just amazing work that Panic Button has done.”

Personally I’ve never been able to look past the Forza series as a whole as home to the biggest and best bag of Hot Wheels on the block. No other racing series contains more weird and wonderful cars that I want, piled on top of a cavalcade of cars I didn’t even know I wanted. As a car fan, I love the idea of a whole new cohort of players potentially discovering their favourite cars in Forza Horizon 5 – cars their other racing games just haven’t been serving them.

For Playground Games lead game designer David Orton, however, it’s the sheer breadth of Forza Horizon 5 that he’s anticipating will impress new players.

“The breadth of Horizon is quite staggering,” says Orton. “I think what we find is players go in and find what they really enjoy but, because there’s so much freedom, that can really be whatever you want it to be.”

Horizon is the space where really everyone is welcome, and there’s something in it for everyone.

“We always pride ourselves on giving the player that kind of agency and freedom to do whatever they want, and the game will reward them and react in that way. I’m really looking forward to players just discovering the breadth of the content. If you just want to do road racing, or if you’re really into Rivals and track racing, you can totally do that. But if you love taking incredible photos, you can totally do that. If you’re into Event Lab, and you want to create content for other people, you can totally do that. Horizon is the space where really everyone is welcome, and there’s something in it for everyone. I think the feeling of people going in and realising this is more than just a racing game is what’s really exciting for me.”

“For me, a victory would be, like, ‘I can’t believe I’ve never played this game before,’” says Arceta. “I think the surprise.”

“That, for me, is a victory, because once they’re surprised, they’re engaged – and they want to learn more. So I’m really looking for that. The delight from players; just hearing their surprise and hearing their stories.”

Here, Orton is in agreement.

“Yeah, I think it’s that,” he adds. “Players who’ve never tried Horizon before – whether that’s because it’s on a different platform, or they’ve just never had the time to do it – to actually jump into this world and realise that it’s actually a really warm, welcoming place that’s full of fun, and finding a home at Horizon.”

“Players who’ve never played before realising that, ‘Oh my goodness, how have I never played this game before? This is incredible.’ That, to me, is a win. We’re about to target a cohort of players who may have never played a Forza title before. There’s a bit of an unknown to how people react to that, but I think when you look at the history of our titles, we’re continually perfecting our craft. We feel so excited to bring this to PlayStation. I think we’re going to bring in a whole load of new players and that’s really exciting.”

If there’s any hobby that’s more tribal than car culture, it’s those who hinge their identities on their video game console of choice. For racing game fans, however, one big wall has come down.

Let’s hope it’s not the last.

Turns Out Donkey Kong Bananza Has a Secret Language — And It Has Already Been Translated

It's one thing to successfully translate a secret in-game video game language, but it's quite another to translate it before the game is even out – yet that's exactly what YouTuber 2Chrispy has (somehow) managed to do in Donkey Kong Bananza.

Just like players managed to unravel the secrets in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's secret language, 2Chrispy used trailers, preview footage, and even the Nintendo Today app to decode the Ancient Monkey Scrolls in Kong's upcoming adventure.

"In the trailer, there were a lot of hidden details," 2Chrispy explained in a wonderful video describing his process. "But the one that stuck out most to me was the banana language. Watch to see how I decoded and deciphered every monkey letter I could find."

After cleverly spotting that an in-game item had an official name, Chip Exchange, Chrispy was, through painstaking, frame-by-frame work, able to work out all but five characters in the banana alphabet — or "Bananabet," as he calls it.

With his newly-discovered transcription skills, 2Chrispy has been able to translate pretty much every single sign, note, and written document seen in any footage published to date. To find out what they say, head on over to Chrispy2's YouTube video.

For instance, in one screenshot, 2Chrispy was able to translate an overhead sign, which reads "welcome," a neon sign that reads "factory," and a snow level sign that reads "ice." He then transcribed various notices that read "hint," "item," and a sign that said: "Message. Thank you for reading. Someone."

"I'm excited to see what other text we'll find in the game," he added. "Could we see references to DK lore? Missing Kongs? Any mention of the Kremlings or King K. Rool?"

"I think Bananza is on track to be one of the most gorgeous Nintendo games I’ve seen," we wrote in our Donkey Kong Bananza first hands-on preview. "It really does take advantage of Switch 2's hardware — the environments are beautiful and DK’s animations are wonderfully expressive, and I left feeling like the next generation of first-party Nintendo games had truly arrived."

Now that we finally have a release date and tech specs on the highly anticipated Switch successor, Nintendo Switch 2 — as well as an idea of how much first-party Nintendo games may cost on the new systemcheck out our deep dive into all the facts as we talk to industry experts. For more on Nintendo Switch 2, you can catch up on everything shown at last month's Nintendo Direct. Donkey Kong Bananza comes out July 17 for $69.99, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Hits 2 Million Copies Sold After 12 Days on Sale

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has now sold an impressive 2 million copies after 12 days on sale. That’s up from the 1 million sold three days after launch.

It’s worth remembering that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was, alongside Bethesda’s Oblivion Remastered, a day-one Game Pass title. That makes this sales milestone all the more impressive for French developer Sandfall Interactive and publisher Kepler Interactive.

“We’ve watched in awe as so many of you began your journey,” reads a post on social media. “Feeling every step, every emotion, every revelation alongside you.

“To those just joining us: welcome.

“Tomorrow comes.”

When Bethesda shadow-dropped The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered amid the launch of fellow role-playing game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, most thought there could be only one winner. However, it turned out that there was plenty of room for both games to succeed.

Indeed, according to Kepler, not only did Oblivion not harm Clair Obscur, Clair Obscur actually benefitted from Oblivion’s release because it boosted excitement for the RPG genre.

Kepler Interactive’s senior portfolio manager Matt Handrahan told The Game Business last week: “We always knew that Expedition 33 had a very specific identity. When I was in the press, I saw the Western-style RPG and the Japanese-style RPG as having quite different appeals and audiences. I knew plenty of people that would play an Elder Scrolls game that wouldn't necessarily play Final Fantasy and vice versa.

“Also, by the time that we rolled around, we had momentum of our own and we felt pretty confident that we could stand beside it. I think there were other aspects, like the price point we were at and the inclusion in Game Pass… so we knew we would have a lot of interest around the game. We were confident in that. And it went as well as it possibly could have done in our eyes. And, actually, proximity to Oblivion didn't seem to harm us at all. In many ways, I think it just drew attention to quality RPGs that week and everybody was thinking and talking about the genre.”

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has done so well that French President Macron has praised the development team. Be sure to check out our tips for the important things to know before heading into the game.

Deals For Today: I've Found Sam's Club Membership and Pokémon TCG Discounts

I think today's deals offer a solid mix of practical tech, collectible finds, and a few membership perks that are worth considering if you're looking to save on future shopping.

There’s nothing flashy for the sake of being flashy, just a handful of genuinely useful accessories, chargers that get the job done quickly, and a few standout prices on high-ticket items like the Pokémon TCG Classic Box and Ghost of Yōtei Collector’s Edition.

TL;DR: Deals For Today

I want to point out that it’s also the kind of day where the smaller things make the biggest difference. A $7.99 cable or adapter that simplifies your setup, a discounted Sam’s Club membership that gets you free shipping or extra perks, or even a microSD card that saves you from constantly clearing out storage.

Sam's Club Membership

Sam’s Club has a handful of deals right now that make signing up feel like more than just a formality. New members can join the Club tier for $20, which is 60% off the usual $50, or upgrade to Plus for $60, saving $50 off the regular $110 price.

Club membership gets you access to Instant Savings, Sam’s Cash rewards, and the ability to share benefits with someone in your household. With Plus, you’ll also get 2% back on in-club purchases, free shipping on most orders over $50, and curbside pickup.

Pokémon TCG Deals at Sam's Club

If you’re already browsing Sam’s Club, I think two standout Pokémon deals make the membership worth it on their own. The Pokémon TCG Classic Box is down to $194.76, more than $200 off its original $400 list price. It’s a collector-focused set with premium packaging and a rotating lineup of non-tournament cards (Basic Energy cards are the exception).

For something more giftable or kid-friendly, the Charizard EX Super Premium Collection is available for $49.94, down from $89.99. It includes 10 booster packs, a foil Charizard EX card, two evolution promos, and a display-ready Charizard figure. Between the membership deals and these rare Pokémon markdowns, I think it’s one of the better times to sign up.

Pokémon TCG Deals Today

There’s a solid mix of Pokémon TCG products back in stock right now, with a few standout deals worth flagging, whether you’re chasing hits, collecting promos, or just looking for decent value packs.

The Infernape V set comes with four booster packs, a foil Infernape V, a foil Empoleon, and a jumbo-sized Infernape V card. It’s a compact product with solid display value and a good pack selection. More importantly, it’s still one of the only ways to grab Sword & Shield-era boosters at retail prices, and it’s currently cheaper than the secondary market.

If you’re after something a bit more collectible, the Prismatic Evolutions Eevee ex box is a tempting option. Each one includes four booster packs, a foil promo featuring a random Eeveelution, and a storage box with built-in dividers for keeping your collection in check. If you're set on pulling a stamped Eevee ex, the promos in these boxes have sold for anywhere from $15 to nearly $60 depending on the evolution, so there’s definitely potential value here, even if you're effectively paying $15 a pack.

If you’re hunting singles instead of sealed product, scroll down for our top picks to grab right now.

Pokémon TCG Single Deals: Top Crashers of the Week

INIU Portable Power Bank

INIU 10000mAh portable charger is available for $19.99, down from $36.99, but if you sign in to your Walmart account and clip the coupon listed, you can score an extra $8 off, bringing it down to $11.99.

It’s a slim, travel-friendly battery bank that offers 22.5W fast charging through PD 3.0 and QC4+ protocols. I like how compact this one is—definitely one of the easier power banks to keep in a daily carry bag or even a pocket.

It can charge an iPhone from 0% to 65% in around 30 minutes, and you’ll get multiple charges depending on the device. An iPhone 8 will get roughly 3.6 full charges, while AirPods can be charged over 13 times. It comes with a USB-C cable, travel pouch, and a 3-year warranty, which is a rare inclusion at this price point.

Unlock Pro 3D Modeling Skills With Blender

If you’re even a little curious about 3D modeling, the Humble Blender Bundle is offering 25 full tutorials for just $18. These courses cover Blender 4.4 fundamentals, geometry nodes, environment design, character modeling, and more, with full compatibility for Unity 6 and Unreal Engine. The total value adds up to $2,767, which makes this one of the best skill-building bundles I’ve seen in a while. Proceeds go to Alzheimer’s Research UK, and the offer is available for the next 16 days.

Samsung PRO Plus + Reader microSDXC 512GB

512GB Samsung PRO Plus microSDXC card + reader is on sale for $29.99, a savings of $39 off the regular $68.99. It includes a USB card reader and offers read speeds up to 180MB/s and write speeds up to 130MB/s.

It's Class 10, V30, and U3 rated, making it suitable for 4K UHD video recording and high-speed file transfers. With a 10-year limited warranty included, I think this is a dependable storage upgrade for devices like cameras, tablets, or handheld consoles (...but not Switch 2).

Fallout Nuka Cola Quantum by Jones Soda

you’ve ever wanted to drink something that looks like it came straight out of your inventory screen, the Nuka-Cola Quantum 4-pack is now available for preorder at the IGN Store for $34.99. This version cranks up the sour factor with an “Extra Radiation” twist that’s really just berry lemonade with a serious kick.

I think it's a fun, functional collectible conversation starter (andpart sugar rush). Each set includes four twist-top glass bottles in a Fallout 4-inspired carrier box, complete with retro styling and no actual Rads (just cane sugar and citrus). It ships June 2025, which gives you time to plan your next cosplay party or stock up for a long vault stay.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter 4 Pack

This 4-pack of USB-A male to USB-C female adapters is currently $7.99 at Amazon, down from the typical $9.99. I think this is one of those small purchases that ends up being unexpectedly helpful. If you're still using a mix of USB-A and USB-C ports, these are a clean solution that don’t require extra cables or dongles.

They’re built with aluminum alloy housing, designed to stay plugged in with minimal protrusion, and work with devices like the iPhone 16 series, Apple Watch, AirPods, Nintendo Switch, and Samsung Galaxy S25. Just a heads-up: they’re not meant for video output, but they’re excellent for charging and file transfers. They also come with a 12-month service plan, which adds a little extra peace of mind.

LISEN USB C to USB C Cable 240W

This USB-C cable bundle from LISEN is marked down to $7.99 from $15.96. The set includes two 6.6-foot cables capable of 240W charging with PD 3.1 and QC 4.0 support. That makes them well suited for high-powered laptops like the MacBook Pro M4 or phones like the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

They’re made with a braided nylon exterior and reinforced with steel-armored connectors that have been tested for over 40,000 bends. These also support 480Mbps data transfer, so you're covered for fast file syncing too. I think it’s a strong buy if you’re replacing older cables or want something reliable for travel.

Pokémon Flareon Sleeping Plush

The Flareon sleeping plush is available at Walmart for $29.97. It’s an 18-inch premium plush in a relaxed, sleeping pose, made with soft material and officially licensed by Pokémon.

I think this is an easy pick for fans or collectors, especially since the size makes it good for display as well as cuddling. If you’re looking for a thoughtful gift or just want to add something playful to your space, this one hits the mark.

Ghost of Yotei Collector’s Edition PS5

Preorders are now live for the Ghost of Yōtei Collector’s Edition, priced at $249.99. This is a follow-up set in the Ghost of Tsushima universe and comes with both digital and physical collectibles. Inside the box, you’ll find a wearable Ghost Mask, sash, replica tsuba, papercraft ginkgo tree, art cards, and a traditional Zeni Hajiki coin game.

Digital content includes the full game for PS5, a deluxe armor set, saddle, sword kit, early unlock maps, and other in-game bonuses. With a release date of October 2, I think this one will go fast, especially for fans of the original game.

Clair Obsur: Expedition 33 Merch

The IGN Store has launched exclusive merchandise for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The collection includes prints, hoodies, t-shirts, mugs, and other themed gear. Prices start at $15 with a wide range of characters and designs represented.

Doom & Wolfenstein Mayhem Game Bundle

Humble’s latest bundle features fifteen games and bonuses from id Software, including DOOM Eternal, DOOM 64, and multiple Wolfenstein titles. It also includes a coupon for 10% off DOOM: The Dark Ages. For $28, the value is strong across retro and modern releases, making this a savage deal for FPS fans.

Squid Game Season 3 Teaser Trailer Reveals First Glimpse at Culmination of Netflix’s Most Popular Show — and Fans Have Theories

Netflix has released a teaser trailer for Squid Game Season 3, and as well as offering a first glimpse at the culmination of the hugely popular show, has sparked a number of fan theories.

Season 3, which launches on Netflix on June 27, is the third and final season of Netflix’s most popular show. It picks up where Season 2 left off, with Gi-hun (Player 456) back in the games and still determined to dismantle them once and for all — despite the harrowing events of the previous season.

It’s time to play the final games 🔴🔵

Squid Game Season 3 premieres June 27. pic.twitter.com/5ZyZ9HVl2Z

— Netflix (@netflix) May 5, 2025

Here’s the official blurb from Netflix:

A failed rebellion, the death of a friend, and a secret betrayal. Picking up in the aftermath of Season 2’s bloody cliffhanger, the third and final season of Netflix’s most popular series finds Gi-hun, a.k.a. Player 456, at his lowest point yet. But the Squid Game stops for no one, so Gi-hun will be forced to make some important choices in the face of overwhelming despair as he and the surviving players are thrust into deadlier games that test everyone’s resolve. With each round, their choices lead to increasingly grave consequences. Meanwhile, In-ho resumes his role as Front Man to welcome the mysterious VIPs, and his brother Jun-ho continues his search for the elusive island, unaware there’s a traitor in their midst. Will Gi-hun make the right decisions, or will Front Man finally break his spirit?

So, what does this teaser trailer tell us? Fans believe that at the 46-second mark we see Player 246, the father of the sick girl in Season 2 (they’re being scanned behind the ear). If true, this would mean Player 246 survived the events of Season 2, during which it looked like they had died.

And if that’s true, perhaps that has implications for Guard 011, who worked at the same theme park as Player 246 before entering the games. Did 011 deliberately miss the kill shot on 246? What is 011’s plan, exactly?

Right at the end of the trailer we hear a baby crying. That may well be Kim Jun-hee's baby. Will Player 222 give birth during the events of Season 3? Fans fear that if so, we could be in for some real tragedy.

We also have new teaser images, below, that have similarly sparked speculation about what to expect from Season 3 in terms of the characters, their votes (if voting happens again), and the fate of their teams. One image shows Park Min-su (Player 125) wearing an O patch instead of an X patch, which suggests at some point in this upcoming season 125 ends up on a different team… again.

Is this the result of a change of heart and an associated change of vote? The teaser trailer shows the characters turning what looks like a gumball machine to find out whether they get a red or blue ball, so it may be the case that the don't have a choice which side they end up on this time around. That could have interesting implications for allies potentially now forced to be enemies.

Elsewhere, the shaman character, Seon-nyeo (Player 044), is seen with a prayer necklace that looks a lot like a key. And in one of the images we see a door shaped like a key hole. Could the two be related? Could this key unlock the door?

Squid Game Season 2 ends on a cliffhanger that sets up Season 3. Be sure to check out our Squid Game Season 2 review to find out what we think of the show.

This Adorable Pokémon Flareon Sleeping Plush is Back in Stock for $30 at Walmart

Pokémon plushies are adorable enough as they are, but the sleeping 18-inch versions like Flareon really add that premium "aw" into your collection.

This snoozing Eeveelution, currently only available at Walmart for $29.97 in the US, uniquely features the Flame Pokémon in a sideways sleeping position.

Made of a super-soft plush material, this is one of the ultimate sleepy Pocket Monsters available for a cuddle whenever you need one. Walmart's stock is region-dependent, so YMMV, but be sure to grab it now if you want this beautiful little owl to sit at your bedside.

There are currently only a few units of this sideways-snoozing Flareon left, so you'd better hurry if you want to grab this rare entry from the latest range of plushies. However, there's also the older Flareon plush available for $55.00, going off to dreamland as well, but being flat on its stomach instead.

Flareon isn't the only sleeping plush available at the megastore either. Walmart has plenty of other plushies available from the sleeping Pokémon range, including the 18-inch versions. For instance, there's the delightful Pikachu for $26.88, Squirtle for $29.97, Jigglypuff for $29.99, and Snorlax for $29.97.

As for the other 18-inch sleeping Pokemon plushies at Walmart though, that's where the prices have started to go up. For example, there are other Eeveelutions like Jolteon & Vaporeon for $55.00 each, Bulbasaur for $39.99, Charmander for $44.98, Totodile for $49.99, and Eevee itself for $69.99.

On the other hand, if you want to grab more tuckered-out Pokemon for your money, there are 5-inch sleeping plushies available as well. You can get the full Kanto starter trio; Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur; for $34.99 in a charming set.

By Jazwares, there's also a four-Pokemon sleeping set with Bulbasaur, Pikachu, Iggybuff, and Rilou for only $19.99. If it's a cheaper Eevee you're after, Walmart also has a Sleeping Eevee Figurine for $15.98. There's even a 5-inch Rowlet — one of the cutest modern Pokemon of them all — for $13.90.

Ecco the Dolphin Reboot, Including an All-New Original Game, in the Works

The creator of Ecco the Dolphin has revealed that not only are there remakes of the original games underway, but a "third" instalment is also in development.

Revealed via a brief post on Xbox Wire, Ed Annunziata — the original creator of the famed, and fiendishly difficult, action-adventure games — was interviewed about raising awareness about ocean conservation, his life as a developer, and, right at the end, dropped this bombshell revelation:

"Me and the entire original team are going to remaster the original Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco: The Tides of Time games. Then we will make a new, third game with contemporary play and [graphics] sensibilities. Stay tuned."

There is, of course, already a "third" game. As the last mainline Ecco instalment, Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future was released on Dreamcast 25 years ago in 2000. However, creator Annunziata wasn't involved. A further sequel, Ecco 2: Sentinels of the Universe, which had been written as a direct sequel to Defender of the Future, was cancelled.

"I just want to finally be able to enter my secret password from the end of Tides of Time. I still have it written in the codes section of the game manual," wrote one fan, while another reminded us: "I wonder how many people know how completely bonkers the plot of the games are."

Annunziata didn't provide any additional details as to when we'll get to be reunited with Ecco, but a countdown on the official Ecco the Dolphin website is set to expire in 8,508 hours' time — that's about a year from now.

Ecco the Dolphin originally launched in 1992 on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, and was followed by a sequel, Ecco: The Tides of Time, in 1994. Ecco Jr. and Ecco Jr. and the Great Ocean Treasure Hunt were released in 1995, although they were "edutainment" games and primarily developed as learning tools.

Ecco the Dolphin sees you play as the titular dolphin, as your underwater world has been devastated by a swirling gust of air and water. You must help him navigate back through treacherous tropical reefs and freezing polar ice floes to reunite him with his dolphin pod. We thought the 2000 remake was okay, writing: "Ecco the Dolphin is a classic from SEGA. But sometimes classics should stay in the past.

"For those who have played Ecco before, there's really no reason to come back to it," we wrote of the 2007 remake in IGN's Ecco the Dolphin review. "There are no extras offered and the Achievements are junk. If you've never played Ecco, then you may want to give it a go. It really is one of the more innovative titles of its time. But, again, that time has long passed, and Ecco's gameplay doesn't stand the test of time like Sonic's."

The last Ecco the Dolphin game fared much better, getting a 7.6 score in IGN's Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future review, saying: "If you thought Flipper had personality, wait until you get a load of Ecco the Dolphin. Experience amazing visuals and an engrossing story, and defend the ocean that is rightfully yours."

Nintendo Sues Accessories Company For Sharing Switch 2 'Mockup' Months Before Official Reveal

Nintendo is suing accessory firm Genki for trademark infringement after it shared renders of a Nintendo Switch 2 "mockup" months before Nintendo revealed official images of its new console.

Cast your mind back a couple of months, and you may remember that Genki — the accessories manufacturer at the heart of the Switch 2 mockup furore coming out of CES 2025 in January — was reportedly visited by Nintendo’s lawyers. At the time, however, Genki told the press it did not sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with Nintendo, and so had "nothing to worry about."

Genki told visitors the Switch 2 mockup, debuting three months ahead of Nintendo's formal unveiling, was allegedly based on a real Switch 2 system that Genki had seen and used as the basis for its accessories.

In court papers seen by IGN, Nintendo is now suing the company, accusing Genki of "embarking upon a strategic campaign intended to capitalize on the public interest surrounding Nintendo's next-generation console," suing for trademark infringement, unfair competition, and false advertising.

Nintendo asserted Genki "boasted its alleged early access to the unreleased console and allowed guests to hold and measure the mockups," adding that as Genki’s claims of compatibility "would be impossible to guarantee without unauthorized, illegal early access to the Nintendo Switch 2... Genki has misled and is misleading the public as to its ability to guarantee the compatibility of its products with the Nintendo Switch 2."

"In January 2025, [Genki] began advertising that it gained unauthorised access to Nintendo's upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console, which had not yet been released or even revealed publicly by Nintendo," the court papers said.

"Following its initial claims of access to a genuine Nintendo Switch 2 console, Defendant's statements were contradictory and inconsistent, with Defendant later stating that it was never in possession of a console. Nevertheless, Defendant has since maintained its representation to consumers that its accessories will be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2 upon the console's release."

The Japanese megacorp also alleged Genki of infringing its trademarks in its advertising and "in direct competition with Nintendo's and its licensee's legitimate marketing of authorized accessories."

Nintendo also took umbrage with a tweet from Genki on January 20, which showed CEO Edward Tsai with a finger to his lips and the caption: "Genki ninjas infiltrate Nintendo Kyoto HQ" and a pop-up on the Genki website that read: "Can you keep a secret? We can’t..."

In recompense, Nintendo seeks to prohibit Genki from using its trademarked "Nintendo Switch" name in its marketing materials, destroy any products or marketing that references Nintendo's branding, and recover unspecified "damages it has sustained as a result of Defendant's infringement, unfair competition, and false advertising, and that said damages be trebled."

Over the weekend, Genki posted a response on social media stating: "You may have seen that Nintendo recently filed a lawsuit against us. We’re taking it seriously and working with legal counsel to respond thoughtfully.

"What we can say is this: Genki has always been an independent company focused on building innovative gaming accessories for the community we love. We’re proud of the work we’ve done, and we stand by the quality and originality of our products. While we can’t comment in detail, we’re continuing preparations to fulfill orders and showcase our newest products at PAX East this week."

The statement closed on thanking people "for the overwhelming support [it has] received so far." "We’ll share more when we can, but for now, we’re staying focused on doing what we do best: building gear for gamers," it concluded.

Nintendo Switch 2 is set to debut on June 5. Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders went live on April 24, with the price still fixed at $449.99 — and they went about as well as you'd expect. Meanwhile, Nintendo has issued a warning to U.S. customers who applied for a Switch 2 pre-order from the My Nintendo Store, saying release date delivery is not guaranteed due to very high demand.

Check out IGN's Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide for more.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Is Already the 3rd Best-Selling Game of 2025 in the U.S., Behind Only Monster Hunter: Wilds and Assassin's Creed: Shadows.

As if impressive Steam concurrent player numbers and Bethesda’s own announcement of 4 million players wasn’t enough to cement it as a hit, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is now the third best-selling game of 2025 in the U.S. after just one week on sale.

Oblivion Remastered, which shadow-dropped on April 22, has a peak concurrent player count of 216,784 on Steam. While impressive, that figure doesn’t tell the whole story, given Oblivion Remastered also launched on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, as well as straight into Game Pass.

Now we have a new milestone: after just one week on sale, Oblivion Remastered became the third best-selling game in the U.S. of 2025 so far by dollar sales. That’s according to Circana’s Mat Piscatella, who took to social media to say Oblivion Remastered trails only Monster Hunter: Wilds and Assassin’s Creed: Shadows at the top of the 2025 sales chart.

It's worth pointing out that Circana’s sales charts do not include players via subscription services. So, we know that Oblivion Remastered is a sales hit despite also being available on Microsoft's Game Pass.

With this success, it seems inevitable that more remasters of Bethesda games will follow, with most suggesting either Fallout 3 (it was leaked back in 2023) or Fallout: New Vegas are next.

If either game is indeed next, what should players expect? Bruce Nesmith, one of Fallout 3’s designers, has pointed to Fallout 3’s “not good” gun combat, which he expects Bethesda would improve significantly for a remaster.

Speaking to VideoGamer, Nesmith said Fallout 3 Remastered would have shooting more in-line with that of Fallout 4. “What did you see in Fallout 4? That will tell you what they felt was necessary to change from Fallout 3,” Nesmith said.

“I know in Fallout 4 there was a lot of work done on the gun combat, because Fallout 3 is the first time they ever tried to do a shooter-style game. And, well, I think the work that was done was amazing.”

Oblivion Remastered, developed by remake specialist Virtuos using Unreal Engine 5, has a long list of visual and feature improvements. It runs at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second, as you'd expect, but other changes are more meaningful. Everything from the leveling systems to character creation, and combat animations to in-game menus have been improved. Meanwhile, there's lots of new dialogue, a proper third-person view, and new lip sync technology. The changes are going down well with fans, some of whom believe Oblivion Remastered would be more accurately described as a remake. Bethesda, however, has explained why it went down the remaster route.

Nesmith said Fallout 3 Remastered would probably include improvements and changes along similar lines to Oblivion Remastered.

“[Fallout 3 combat] didn’t hold up to shooters at the time,” he said. “Also, it’s an RPG shooter, it’s not a run-and-gun shooter. But a lot of work was done on that for Fallout 4. So I anticipate seeing a lot of that work go into it, assuming they’re doing the same thing.”

“Oblivion wasn’t just brought up to the 2011 version of Skyrim,” he added. “It was brought up to something that, at least on the surface, looks like it exceeds the most recent graphics update in Skyrim.” Nesmith has said The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is so impressive it could be called “Oblivion 2.0.”

It’s a busy time for Bethesda, which is working on The Elder Scrolls VI and, maybe, more Starfield. Throw in remasters and ongoing work on Fallout 76 and the Fallout TV show, which is heading to New Vegas for Season 2, and fans are in for a treat in the coming years.

Meanwhile, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered players are warning newcomers to do Kvatch before the level scaling makes it an absolute nightmare. We’ve also got a report on a player who managed to escape the confines of Cyrodiil to explore Valenwood, Skyrim, and even Hammerfell, the rumored setting of The Elder Scrolls VI.

And be sure to check out our comprehensive guide to everything you'll find in Oblivion Remastered, including an expansive Interactive Map, complete Walkthroughs for the Main Questline and every Guild Quest, How to Build the Perfect Character, Things to Do First, every PC Cheat Code, and much more.

50% Off Beats Solo 4 Wireless Headphones

Target's exclusive "Warm White" colorway is also on sale

The Beats Solo 4 is a very compact and lightweight headphone that can still pack a punch when you need it. It features 40mm drivers, Spatial Audio with Dynamic Head Tracking, Lossless audio via USB Type-C, and up to 50 hours of battery life. The Solo 4 doesn't have built-in active noise cancellation, but the headphone's design keeps the earcups securely on the head, aiding in excellent passive noise isolation. Because Apple owns Beats, the Solo 4 is one of the few headphones that supports seamless integration with iPhones and, unlike AirPods, is a good option for Android users.

We picked the Beats Solo 4 as the best wireless headphones for Apple users. "If you’re not fully in the AirPods camp but want headphones that work seamlessly with your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, the Beats Solo 4 is the way to go. Rather than going with an Apple chip like in previous models, the Solo 4 is powered by Beats' own processor, which supports Google Fast Pair for an easy connection to Android devices as well. But you can still link these headphones to an iCloud account for speedy pairing and auto-switching between Apple devices. However, the spatial audio with head tracking is exclusive to Apple users."

This Day in Gaming 🎂

In retro news, I'm celebrating the 10th anniversary of Project C.A.R.S., a series which, sadly, seems to have put the hazards on and parked. It began here as a serious, deep, and demanding racing sim for motorsport purists. It bore no pop punk soundtrack, or explosive takedowns, or generous rewinds. Slightly Mad Studios just set out to capture the experience of manhandling a real racing car around the world’s most famous racing circuits, and mostly succeeded.

One Thunderbolts Character’s Fate Was a Huge ‘Shock’ Even to the Writer of the Movie

Spoilers follow for Thunderbolts.

Some MCU fans had assumed that Marvel’s Thunderbolts – which you may have heard is now Marvel’s The New Avengers – would kill off at least a few of its (seemingly) mostly disposable team of anti-heroes. But when the “directors chair” Avengers: Doomsday announcement in March revealed the metric ton of characters who are returning for that film included most of the Thunderbolts, the fan theories were forced to go in another direction. Still, one character was conspicuous by their absence in that reveal: Olga Kurylenko’s Antonia Dreykov, aka Taskmaster.

Around the same time, the ever-watchful fans also kind of figured out that Taskmaster was doomed due to her disappearance from key moments in the trailers. And indeed, the character is in fact unceremoniously killed off early on in Thunderbolts/The New Avengers.

The thing is, according to the film’s co-writer Eric Pearson, Taskmaster was originally intended to have a much bigger part in the movie. And she was meant to have an important connection to fellow team member Hannah John-Kamen’s Ava Starr/Ghost too.

“That's one of the biggest changes from my final draft, because in the last version that I did, [Taskmaster] lived out the whole movie and there was a pretty big subplot of her and Ava connecting as two characters that were raised in labs and being controlled by other people,” explains Pearson.

'When I came back and watched the first cut, that was the biggest shock to me.' -Eric Pearson

It makes sense considering Ghost’s Ant-Man and the Wasp backstory is one of secret experimentation and forced acts of violence. “Ava having earned her autonomy a little bit earlier, Antonia was big-sistering her a little bit through the movie,” says the writer.

But the nature of the MCU movie factory – and big-budget blockbusters in general, really – means that Pearson eventually moved on to other projects, particularly with the delays in production on Thunderbolts caused by the Hollywood strikes. And so other writers continued work on the film, including his credited co-writer Joanna Calo.

“When I came back and watched the first cut, that was the biggest shock to me,” recalls Pearson. “Everything else was in the same place, but I was like, ‘Oh my God, you guys just killed the Taskmaster right there.’ So being able to not know what's coming and feel that shock, I understood why they did it, but yeah.”

Pearson says that even though he was surprised by the character’s fate, he understands why the changes to the script were made. (“The journey was even more emotional than I expected it to be,” he says. “I was just thrilled.”) He also confirms that most of the additional material he wrote about Taskmaster was never actually filmed. There was, however, a version of the elevator shaft scene that was different from the one in the finished film where John Walker tries to jump up to escape the shaft. In his script, the scene involved Taskmaster.

“I think they shot it with actually Ava doing the Taskmaster role,” he recalls. “Taskmaster was supposed to pull the bow and arrow [out] and shoot a grappling hook straight up. … And the idea that they all just stand there and look, waiting for the thing to cling, to stick in, and then one of them notices that the rope is coiling up and the thing is coming back down and they all just panic and have to run around like headless chickens because they know this arrow is coming down and they don't know where. And it sticks right in the middle of them. I loved that moment. I missed it, but I can't complain. The movie is spiritually everything that I wanted it to be.”

What do you think? Would Thunderbolts/The New Avengers have been better if Taskmaster hadn’t been killed off so early in the story? Vote in our poll and let’s discuss in the comments.

The 65" Panasonic Z85 4K OLED Smart TV with Amazon Fire TV Drops to Under $1,000

Here's a rare chance to pick up a well-sized OLED TV at an affordable price and from a trusted retailer. Starting this week, Amazon has discounted the 2024 65" Panasonic Z85 4K OLED Smart TV with Amazon Fire TV for just $999.99 with free delivery. This is an excellent TV to pair up with your PlayStation 5 since it has HDMI 2.1 inputs and a 120Hz refresh rate.

65" Panasonic Z85 4K OLED Fire TV for $999.99

The Panasonic Z85 TV uses a W-OLED panel so image quality is comparable to the Samsung S85C/D/F, Sony Bravia 8/A80, and LG B4/B3 models. Since this is a true OLED panel, the Z85 boasts near instantaneous response time, near infinite contrast ratio, and true blacks. It's superior to any other panel type in nearly every scenario except for one: super bright rooms with no light control (OLEDs aren't as bright as Mini LED or LED LCD TVs).

The Z85 is an excellent future-proof gaming TV because it has a native 120Hz refresh rate and HDMI 2.1 ports. That means it is capable of running games in 4K at up to 120fps on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles. It's a great TV for the upcoming Switch 2 as well, since the console is locked at 60fps when running games in 4K. The Z85 also has other convenient gaming features like variable refresh rate and auto low latency mode.

This is the best price I can find for a brand new 65" OLED TV with a full warranty. Panasonic is a well-known brand with a solid TV history. Although they had been out of the game for a while, they've recently returned, targeting the higher-end market with Mini-LED and OLED offerings.

The Best Dell & Alienware Deals and Coupons: Gaming Laptops, PCs, Monitors, and More

Not everyone is the DIY type. If you're in the market for a prebuilt gaming PC, Dell is one of the best brands we'd recommend. Alienware desktops and laptops feature solid build quality, top-of-the-line gaming performance, excellent cooling (further improved on the newer models), aggressive styling, and pricing that is very competitive with other pre-built options. Best of all, there are plenty of sales that happen throughout the year, so it's not difficult to grab one of these computers at considerably less than their retail price. This page includes all of the best deals that are currently available.

Dell and Alienware Coupons

Dell and Alienware Gaming PC Deals

Dell and Alienware Gaming Laptop Deals

You can quickly browse through all of the listed products on sale above. See below for our favorite picks.

Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 5080 Gaming PC

Dell has one of the best prices on an RTX 5080 equipped prebuilt desktop computer. Right now you can pick up an Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 5080 gaming PC starting at $2,349.99 shipped. This is a good price for a well-engineered (and warrantied) rig that can handle 4K gaming at high frame rates. In the current market, buying a prebuilt gaming PC is the only way to score an RTX 5080 GPU without paying an exorbitant markup. If you were to try to find a 5080 GPU for your diy PC build, you'll probably spend nearly as much for the GPU as you would for an entire system.

Alienware Area-51 RTX 5090 Prebuilt Gaming PCs Are Available

Earlier this year, Dell rebooted the legendary Alienware Area-51 lineup of prebuilt gaming PCs, but until recently you could only configure it with one graphics card option - the RTX 5080. That's no longer the case since now you can select the GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, which is the most powerful graphics card on the market.

Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 5070 Gaming PC

In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 review, Jackie Thomas wrote that "The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 is complicated. It does what it says on the tin: play games at 1440p at a high frame rate. But the problem is that it doesn’t necessarily do that better than the RTX 4070 Super, or any other graphics card in this price range. It does add Multi Frame Generation, which is nice to have for anyone with a high-refresh monitor, but that alone isn’t worth the upgrade."

Alienware Area-51 Gaming Laptop Is Now Available

Alienware's new flagship gaming laptop - the Alienware Area-51 - was released earlier this year. It replaces the m-series laptop and bring to the table a host of upgrades including a sleeker redesign, current generation components, and better cooling potential. They can be equipped with the new Nvidia GeForce Blackwell cards in RTX 5070, 5080, and 5090 variants.

Alienware x16 R2 Gaming Laptops

The Alienware x16 gaming laptop is a slimmer and lighter redesign of the traditional m-series laptop. It's the thinnest 16" Alienware laptop ever and compares in build quality and performance to other high-end ultra-thin laptops like the Razer Blade. This Alienware x16 R2 laptop is built with premium materials, like a magnesium alloy chassis and palm rest, anodized aluminum lid, stainless steel keyboard tray, and Micro LED RGB accent lighting. It's only 0.73" thin and weighs in at 6 pounds. That's impressive considering the fact that this laptop can be equipped with the most power NVIDIA GPU.

Not all laptop GPUs are the same, even if they share the same name.

There are two important tidbits that deserve mention concerning graphics cards found in laptops. First, mobile GPU variants are not as powerful as their desktop counterparts. For example, a mobile RTX 4060 doesn't perform as well as a desktop RTX 4060. The mobile versions are generally about one to two tiers lower in performance. Using the same example, the mobile RTX 4060 performs more similarly to a desktop RTX 4050.

Second, not all laptops feature the same performance out of the same GPU. For example, the RTX 4060 found in the Alienware m16 will be more powerful than the RTX 4060 found in the Alienware x14. In order to roughly tell how good a GPU will be, you can look at the TGP rating. That's basically the amount of power supplied to the GPU. A higher TGP rating means more power will be delivered, equating to stronger performance, however the wattage consumption and heat generated will be higher. Here are the maximum TGP rates for the RTX 40 series graphics cards:

  • Mobile RTX 4050: 115W
  • Mobile RTX 4060: 115W
  • Mobile RTX 4070: 115W
  • Mobile RTX 4080: 150W
  • Mobile RTX 4090: 150W

Dell just dropped the price of one of its best gaming monitors to the lowest price ever, better than even Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Right now you can pick up an Alienware AW3423DWF 34" QD-OLED gaming monitor for only $552.49 after 15% off coupon code "MONITORS15". This is one of Alienware's highest end monitors, with a gorgeous QD OLED panel, WQHD resolution, and a respectable 165Hz refresh rate.

Dell's best gaming monitor is also on sale

The best Alienware high-end gaming monitor deal just got even better is on sale for this week. The 32" Alienware AW3225QF 4K QD OLED gaming monitor has just dropped to $899.99 with free shipping after a $300 off instant discount. If you're looking for the best 4K gaming monitor, this should definitely be on your short list.

Why pick a Dell or Alienware gaming PC?

If you're in the market for a prebuilt gaming PC, Dell is one of best gaming brands we'd recommend. The Alienware gaming desktops offer a staggering array of options, all built into a custom chassis. Alienware gaming laptops in recent years have been redesigned to be thinner and lighter while still offering the same immense power under the hood. Consistent build quality, available inventory, frequent sales, and solid customer service are the main reasons why Dell is at the top of our buying list for gaming laptops and PCs.

Save $100 Off the Apple iPad Mini: The Best iPad for Travelling

Ahead of Mother's Day, which lands on May 11, Amazon has dropped the price of the Apple iPad Mini (A17 Pro) to $399 shipped. That's a $100 price drop for the newest Mini. If you're looking for a pocketable, the iPad Mini will be your best pick; because of its compact size, there's no better iPad to take along when you're travelling.

2024 Apple iPad Mini (A17 Pro)

The iPad Mini may be the most diminutive tablet of the bunch, but that doesn't mean it's hindered in any way. In fact, the iPad Mini has a more powerful processor than the standard iPad and a sharper display (326ppi vs 264ppi) with wide color gamut. The newest iPad Mini was released on October of 2024 and features some pretty significant improvements over its predecessor, including a more powerful A17 Pro processor, double the base storage, Wi-Fi 6e, a USB Type-C port, compatibility with the Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C), and Apple Intelligence support.

The HP Omen Max 16 Is the Least Expensive RTX 5080 Gaming Laptop I Can Find

HP is offering the lowest price we've seen for an RTX 5080 equipped gaming laptop with its new 2025 Omen Max 16. Right now you can pick up a pretty decked out model for just $2,609.99 shipped after you apply coupon code "PC10DEAL". This is the only RTX 5080 laptop I've found so far for under $3,000. The Omen Max is HP's new gaming laptop that replaces the now discontinued HP Omen 16. It is upgraded with a beefier cooling system to accommodate more powerful hardware.

HP Omen Max 16" RTX 5080 Gaming Laptop for $2,610

Follow these directions to get the config I mention:

  1. Click Here
  2. Select Processor & Graphics: Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX + NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 (+$750)
  3. Proceed to shopping cart
  4. Apply 10% off code "PC10DEAL" in the coupon code field
  5. Final price should be $2,609.99 plus tax

This CPU / GPU combo should perform well in any game

The HP Omen Max 16 is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, which boasts a max turbo frequency of 5.4GHz with 24 cores and 40MB total L2 cache. According to Passmark, this is the fastest laptop processor on the market, with a healthy 7% lead over the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D.

According to Tom's Hardware, the RTX 5080 mobile GPU is roughly 15%-20% more powerful than the RTX 4080 mobile GPU that it replaces. It also happens to be about 5% more powerful than the RTX 4090, which was the previous generation's flagship card. The RTX 5080 appears to be a better value than the much pricier RTX 5090 as well. It only lags by about 15% despite being nearly $1,000 cheaper. Since the Alienware Area-51 uses a QHD+ (2560x1600) instead of 4K display, this GPU should be able to run new and upcoming games at high framerates, quadruply so if DLSS 4 is supported.

The Razer Blade 16 RTX 5080 gaming laptop is another option

Razer's new 2025 lineup of Razer Blade 16 and Razer Blade 18 gaming laptops, which are currently exclusively available only at Razer.com and Razer stores, are now shipping. Prices for the Razer Blade 16 start at $2,999.99 for the RTX 5070 Ti configuration, $3,499.99 for the RTX 5080 configuration, and $4,499.99 for the RTX 5090 configuration.

Razer Blade laptops are well known for their impeccable build quality. The chassis is built from a single piece of aluminum and is designed to be exceptionally thin and light for a gaming laptop. In order to get away with the svelte form factor, Razer employs its own proprietary cooling design, which incorporates a vacuum-sealed, liquid-filled, copper vapor chamber to effectively whisk away the heat. Much like Apple MacBook Pros, a lot of engineering goes into a Razer Blade laptop, which is why they command a premium price compared to other mainstream brands.

Switch 2 Has to Face a Problem the Original Didn’t: Handheld Gaming PCs

The Nintendo Switch 2 is coming out incredibly soon, and while we know a lot about it, its steep $449.99 price tag and $79.99 games make me less likely to invest than expected. After all, I’ve barely used my Nintendo Switch since getting an Asus ROG Ally, and my problems with the original console are only exacerbated in its successor, especially in a post-handheld gaming PCs world.

Asus ROG Ally Is All I Need

I’ve been a handheld gamer since childhood, having jumped between the Game Boy, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation Portable. It's still my favorite way to play games, as there’s nothing cozier than snuggling beneath a layer of blankets and playing from the comfort of my bed. I was even among the painfully few PlayStation Vita believers, and played it during my college train commute every day.

The Nintendo Switch blew my mind in 2017, yet even though I bought mine close to launch, I only used it for exclusives. Playing on PC isn’t comfortable, so when a game seemed mechanically or graphically suited for handheld, I wanted it on the Switch. Those games entered a mental drawer in my head labeled “Reserved for handheld,” and it’s as if my brain was incapable of letting me play them elsewhere.

But if that game was available for free on Epic Games Store, Game Pass, PlayStation Plus, or Humble Choice, I felt guilty repurchasing it on Nintendo Switch. It didn’t help that Switch games are notoriously less likely to receive discounts, and when they do, they’re nowhere near as steep as on other storefronts. This painful cycle of “Why waste money on a game I already own” into “I want to play this on a handheld” yielded the same result every time: I wouldn’t play the game at all.

The launch of the Asus ROG Ally in 2023 broke my curse. It’s a handheld gaming PC that runs on Windows 11, so it has access to Steam, Game Pass, Epic Games, and more. Those games I’d never play on PC due to discomfort could now be enjoyed from the comfort of my own bed.

Nowadays, I play a treasure trove of indie games on my Ally, and I’m still catching up on my backlog. If it wasn’t for the Ally, I would’ve never played Celeste, Little Nightmares II, or Resident Evil Remake. Those are now amongst my favorite games ever, and I didn’t need to spend additional money on any of them, whereas I would have had to repurchase them on Switch. The Ally has become my go-to handheld of choice and has saved me tons of money.

Regardless, I was still excited for the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement, as Nintendo games hold a special place in my heart. But after the Switch 2 Direct, I’m uncertain where the console fits in my life anymore.

When the original Switch launched, it held significance beyond exclusives. The versatility of its design and lower price of entry compared to the competition made it an excellent ecosystem to get into. It was the only viable handheld at the time: It was cheap, had great exclusives, and nothing else like it existed.

The Switch 2 Isn’t Alone Anymore

Priced at $449 (to start), the Nintendo Switch 2 finds itself in competitive waters. That launch price brings it close to the $499 PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. In fact, the PS5 technically launched cheaper with its $399 digital edition. What’s worse, in the last eight years since the Switch’s launch, its design has inspired competition. Steam Deck started the trend in 2022, but manufacturers have released handheld gaming PCs like the Asus ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, and MSI Claw. There are even rumors that Xbox is working on its own handheld. Switch 2 is no longer one-of-a-kind, and it’s only a great investment if you don’t already own another handheld, and I do.

Handheld gaming PCs have powerful hardware, and are more than capable of playing indies and third-party games. With a far larger library, and the ability to access all of the games you already own, it’s an excellent place for everything. The chipsets powering handheld gaming PCs are only getting better with time, too. The AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme is waiting to be implemented into something powerful, and it won’t take long before Switch 2 finds itself outmatched by the competition.

Handheld gaming PC owners who want to play new Nintendo exclusives are faced with a steep price of entry and the promise of little use. If a machine like the Asus ROG Ally is more than capable of playing everything from third-parties to indies, then handheld gaming PC owners investing in a Switch 2 are only going to use it for first-party games.

The high price of exclusives makes the Switch 2 an even more painful endeavor, with Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza launching at $79.99 and $69.99 respectively. Considering Nintendo Switch games, especially first-party games, are rarely discounted, it’s hard to get excited about the prospect of having to buy them.

To be fair, there is plenty of value to be found in Nintendo exclusives. The company is responsible for some of the greatest games in history, and for many, there will be plenty of Switch 2 games over the next few years to make the system worth its high price. But for handheld gaming PC owners like me, we just need a little more.

The Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t a worthwhile investment for everyone, especially if you already have a handheld gaming PC. Systems like the Legion Go deliver excellent performance, and an enormous library of indie and third-party games. My Asus ROG Ally does everything I used to need a Switch for, and with a wide range of storefronts available, it’s just a better place to play games.

They offer great battery life and performance that won't leave you disappointed after making such a large investment.

No matter what you're looking for, I've done the testing to make sure you get the best value, and best performance, for your money.

1. Apple MacBook Air (M4, Early 2025)

The Best Laptop

Apple's MacBook may just be the most ubiquitous laptop of all time, and year after year, it earns top marks for performance, portability, and battery life. This year, the company released its latest iteration on the ultra-portable MacBook Air, featuring its latest and most powerful processor, the M4. This new chip powers the experience, allowing users to do everything from crank out projects for work or school to creative work, and it does these things faster, using less battery than competing Windows laptops around its price.

All of the most appealing qualities of the MacBook Air line make their return here. We once again see Apple challenge convention by offering reliably great performance and battery life in such a thin and light body. Apple even managed to shave a smidge of weight off of this year's release even while improving its capability. It only weighs 2.7lbs, too, making it almost effortless to carry.

As we've come to expect from Apple, the Air is all about evolutional refinement. In her review, our own Jackie Thomas dubbed it an "oldie but a goodie" in the most loving way possible. It has the same fanless internal design that relies entirely on passive cooling (in part through its metal frame). This allows it to run completely silently while also adopting a clean aesthetic, unbroken by fan vents.

This does mean that it won't compete with the MacBook Pro in the kind of performance it's able to put out, which does have active cooling, but you wouldn't expect it to. The MacBook Air is about being a daily companion and all the computer that you'll need this side of being a creative professional or gamer.

That doesn't mean it's a slouch in the performance department. The prior M3 MacBook Air, released in March of last year, already offered impressive performance in benchmarks and real world use, and the M4 chip is a step ahead by roughly 20%. Groundbreaking? No, but it does mean that the MacBook Air can handle just about anything you might throw at it on an average day.

Like many of its other qualities, the display is very similar to its predecessor, but that's not a bad thing. While I would have loved to see an upgrade, it's 13- or 15-inch screen offers a 2560x1664 resolution which translates to high pixel density and a crisp, color-rich image – another point Jackie loved.

On the flip side of things, it offers limited connectivity. Sad as it is to say, it's one of the things you just have to accept with the MacBook Air series, at least so far. (It's never too late to change, Apple!) It offers two USB Type-C ports on the left, a MagSafe connector, and a headphone jack on the opposite side. If you have lots of accessories to connect, you'll need to invest in a dock.

The MacBook Air so nails the basics of being silent, satisfying, and delightfully responsive, that it truly begins to feel like a natural part of your daily life. It's no good for gaming, sure, but as a daily driver, it's the best choice for most people.

2. Asus VivoBook S 15

Best Budget Laptop

The Asus VivoBook S 15 has a temptingly low entry point for all that it offers. Beginning well below $1,000, this laptop offers many of the same benefits of the ZenBook S 16 featured later in this list. Its screen is fantastic, and its thin and light design makes it easy to slip into a bag and carry throughout the day. Just as importantly, you're not sacrificing performance for its cost.

Asus's VivoBook line is all about balancing value with accessible pricing. Looking at its overall design and spec sheet, it's clear to see the shared DNA between this year's VivoBooks and ZenBooks. While the latter has a lot to offer, there's no mistaking that you're paying extra for its more elegant design. If you don't mind losing a few frills and still getting a good-looking, high-performing laptop, the S 15 might just be the budget laptop you've been waiting for.

Coming in at just over 3lbs, it's the kind of laptop you can easily slide into a bag and forget it's there. Since it is only a touch over a half-inch at its thickest point, you won't have to worry about it taking up a lot of space in your bag.

It's not all about form factor, though. The S 15 comes with 16GB of fast LPDDR5X RAM and a 512GB NVMe SSD. It's powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus X1P processor, which expertly blends power efficiency with performance.

At this price, you would expect it to skimp on its screen, but Asus has done anything but. The VivoBook comes with a gorgeous high-resolution OLED touchscreen display. It runs at 120Hz for smooth animations and scrolling long websites and has an ultra-crisp 2880x1620 resolution. All of this culminates in outstanding picture quality for productivity and entertainment alike.

I've been testing this laptop in preparation for a full review and have been impressed that it's able to offer more than 16 hours of battery life in normal use. Used intermittently, I've been able to get away with charging only twice a week instead of nightly like most Intel and AMD laptops that I've tested.

That's the benefit of the Snapdragon processor, but it also comes with a drawback: app compatibility. It uses a fundamentally different architecture, which means that app support isn't a given. Granted, it's been out long enough that most major productivity and creative apps should work fine, but it's worth taking a look at the Windows on ARM compatibility list to ensure that it will work for the actual applications you'll be using.

As long as it checks that box, this is a great value that's bound to impress most people.

3. Razer Blade 16 (2025)

Best Gaming Laptop

This year's Razer Blade 16 is easily the best laptop the company has ever released, and I don't say that lightly. That's because it blends fantastic performance with a form factor that's more thin and light than what was previously possible. It features the latest Nvidia graphics and a powerful AMD Ryzen CPU. In sheer fps, it's not the most powerful, but when viewed as a whole package, it's nothing short of outstanding.

The Razer Blade 16 is a premium laptop in every way. It comes with a fully aluminum chassis that's been CNC milled to create its form, offering improved durability while still keeping the overall weight reasonable at only 4.7 lbs. It's lighter than you would expect a high-performance gaming laptop to be, and paradoxically, it's nowhere near the loudest either.

In my review, I was incredibly impressed at how well-balanced the system is. Running an RTX 5090, it opens the door to gaming at ultra settings, but its thinner, lighter design made it much nicer to actually use than the vast majority of other gaming laptops I've tested, despite trading some performance to get there.

To pull off its form factor, Razer decided to limit the wattage of its graphics card. Given the high price of the laptop, it's easy to be dismayed by this. Indeed, if you're looking for the highest possible fps and don't care as much about portability, this probably isn't the laptop for you. But make no mistake: At this laptop's native resolution, it's beastly.

Which brings me to its other high point in its display. The Blade 16 uses a 16-inch, 2560x1600 OLED screen. Razer could have gone for 4K here, and on paper, that may have even been better. In practice, however, its RTX 5090 is much better suited to driving 1,600p at triple-digit frame rates without needing to lower many, if any, settings in many games. Its screen is also able to clock all the way to 240Hz, so you can enjoy exceptional responsiveness and motion clarity in the process.

The overarching impression it leaves is extraordinary. It might lag a few fps behind the heavier, louder competition, but the balance of design features and performance Razer went with simply makes it a much better laptop. I didn't find myself missing that handful of extra frames. If you can afford it, the Razer Blade 16 is the best gaming laptop overall so far this year.

4. Asus ZenBook S 16

Best Laptop for Work

For productivity, portability, and even some light gaming, the Asus ZenBook S 16 is one of my all-time favorites. Between its spacious 16-inch OLED touchscreen, elegant and overtly premium design, solid battery life, and impressive performance, it should be high on your consideration list as your next laptop for work.

Compared to the majority of productivity laptops, the ZenBook S 16's screen is ever so slightly larger and uses a 16:10 aspect ratio to maximize its space. This is perfect for work because it can simply fit more on the screen, whether that's to benefit you hammering out a report or a colleague that you're showing a presentation to. It's also a touch screen for intuitive navigation in either of these tasks, allowing you to easily integrate it into your workflow or enhance what you're already doing.

When I reviewed this system, I couldn't help but make comparisons to Apple's MacBook lineup. In fact, it's pretty obvious that Asus is courting the same aesthetic with some unique and elegant touches of its own, like the durable and stylish Ceraluminum lid. This new material has the appearance of ceramic but actually blends that material with aluminum alloy to create a robust, fingerprint-resistant finish. Open it up, and you'll find a large vented area above the keyboard milled with more than 1,000 individual holes that frankly make the laptop look more expensive than it actually is.

Inside, it's running AMD's Ryzen 9 AI HX 370 CPU. It's a high-performance AI-enabled processor with 12 cores and 24 threads to easily handle demanding tasks and multitasking. While it's not quite as powerful as Apple's M3 or M4 chips, it's more than capable for the vast majority of tasks, including video editing. It's also fairly power efficient, offering around 15 hours of usable life between recharges.

As an added bonus, it's also capable of some light gaming, so long as you're willing to lower the settings or play at 1,200p resolution. The HX 370 processor is the same chip driving the majority of Windows gaming handhelds available at the time of this writing. It still won't compete with a dedicated gaming laptop like the Razer Blade 16, but it's nice to know that you'll be able to load up and play some games without needing to rely on the cloud for the privilege.

It's a great laptop overall, but it does have one drawback worth keeping in mind. After it's been running intensive tasks for a while, it can become quite warm. Some users have found that it's best to use it on a desk or with a laptop cooler to avoid that heat making its way to your legs. I didn't hit this point myself, but if you're sensitive to warmth or live in a warmer climate, it's worth considering. That said, in day-to-day productivity use that you'll typically be engaging with, this isn't a big concern. It's only when the S16 is running in its highest performance mode and processing demanding tasks over time.

Until I was forced to trade it out, this was my personal daily driver due to its great balance of form factor and performance. For work, there's little it can't do.

5. Microsoft Surface Pro 11

Best Laptop for School

The Microsoft Surface Pro 11 is the best laptop for students for a multitude of reasons, but the biggest among them are its versatility and ability to deliver a great experience in a range of different situations. It's able to blend handwritten note-taking, deep work in productivity applications like Office and Google Drive, and entertainment for when the day is done, all into one compact, exceptionally portable package.

This year's Surface Pro is an impressive reinvention of Microsoft's 2-in-1 tablet PC. As I remarked in my review, the company always seemed to sacrifice performance in exchange for the form factor with the Surface line. That's just not the case any longer. The Surface Pro 11 is a high-performance PC with solid battery life, a great screen, and the ability to transform for the different facets of student life.

Inside this laptop is running your choice of a Snapdragon X Plus or Snapdragon X Elite processor. Like the Asus VivoBook S 15 above, its use here results in a responsive experience that didn't lag or stutter throughout my entire testing period – at least with the X Elite version, which I definitely recommend choosing if your budget can stretch that far.

While I'm confident that the Snapdragon X Plus will also offer satisfyingly responsive performance, based on my experience with the chip in other laptops, opting for the Snapdragon X Elite also gets you an upgraded OLED touchscreen display with a crisp resolution of 2880x1920.

For entertainment and even just general viewing, it's a big upgrade. Both versions of the Surface have similar specs on the screen. So even if you go for the LCD variant, you can count on crisp visuals, 500 nits of brightness, and a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth motion. The infinite blacks of the OLED, like the more expensive variant, offer much better contrast, dynamic range, and more vivid colors. If you plan on watching movies or shows on this laptop, it offers a significantly better viewing experience that I really enjoyed.

It's worth noting that by default, the Surface Pro only comes with the tablet and doesn't include its keyboard folio case or Surface Pen. These do add significantly onto its price. But if you'd rather not spend as much, you can easily pick up a third-party keyboard case and stylus. If you do opt for the official accessories, you can count on a satisfyingly integrated experience. The keyboard case connects magnetically with a reassuring snap and stays in place well. It also includes a compartment to hold and charge the Surface Pen, so both are always ready to go.

Like the other recommendations on this list that use Qualcomm Snapdragon X processors, app compatibility is a concern, and you'll want to double-check that the programs you use are compatible. For academic and creative use, it's not likely to be an issue, however, as app support has continually been on the up-and-up since its launch last year. At this point, it seems like the vast majority of common apps, even across specific fields, are reported to be working well. It's not Windows, though, so verify your apps before pulling the trigger.

If you're a college student, you probably want to play games every now and again too. Since this tablet is coming directly from Microsoft, you can count on easy compatibility with Xbox Cloud Gaming. In my testing, Nvidia GeForce Now also worked well. Running games locally on the Surface Pro is usually disappointing, if the games open at all, but streaming is a viable alternative if your internet can support it.

Microsoft really aimed to impress with this generation's Surface Pro 11 and stuck the landing. It's a great choice for any student that needs a versatile laptop that can last a whole day of learning and still be ready for fun at home or in the dorm.

How to Choose the Best Laptop in 2025

Shopping for a new laptop can be a complicated affair if you don't know what you're looking for. Thankfully, there are key specs that can clue you in to whether or not a laptop is prepared to meet your needs. This is what to look for when choosing one of the best laptops in 2025.

  • Display: Your laptop's display is one of its most important qualities. These come in multiple different forms. The average laptop comes with an IPS display, which essentially means that it has a backlight around the edges of the screen. It's also possible to find laptops with OLED or mini-LED displays, which offer improved visuals at the expense of a higher price. If all you need a laptop for is getting work done, it probably doesn't make sense to pay extra for the latest and greatest screen technology. But if you plan to use your laptop for gaming or entertainment, an OLED can offer a massive upgrade to your viewing experience.
    • The other thing to consider here is the resolution and refresh rate of this screen. For most laptops, 1,080p, or Full HD, is going to be sufficient, especially for school or work. Higher resolution screens offer crisper visuals but tend to cost more and are more difficult to run for gaming.
    • Refresh rate, on the other hand, is how many times the screen flashes in a second. Most productivity laptops refresh at 60Hz, or 60 times per second. It's not uncommon to find laptops that offer higher refresh rates, however, up to 120Hz, 144Hz, or even higher at an increased cost. While higher refresh rates offer the most benefit in games by enhancing the perceived smoothness of motion, they can also enhance productivity and web browsing by making fast motions such as scrolling feel more fluid.
    • Higher-end displays, such as OLEDs, frequently offer high refresh rates to bring the viewing experience full circle. Whether or not it's worth paying extra for depends on how you'll be using your laptop, but for productivity, 60Hz is most common and typically fine.
  • Platform/OS: A computer's operating system, or platform, is the interface you'll interact with every day when using it. The two key choices in this space are Windows or Mac. Mac is only available on Apple systems, like the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.
  • Processor: Think of the processor like the brain of your computer. It handles all of the computations that allow you to complete everything from day-to-day tasks to intense gaming. The two big brands of processors today are Intel and AMD, with Snapdragon recently entering as a third option. In general, for Intel and AMD, I recommend choosing a processor a bare minimum of six cores with eight or more recommended. This will help to ensure snappy performance and easy compatibility with applications well into the future. A six core processor can still be good, though is likely to need to be upgraded sooner and will be more limited for intense applications and multitasking.
  • Memory: Memory, or RAM, allows your computer to hold more things in its most rapidly accessed storage at a time. Choose a laptop with at least 16GB for school and productivity, and 32GB for gaming or more intense tasks like video editing or streaming.
  • Storage: Storage represents your laptop's capacity for maintaining files locally, for maintaining files locally, and is usually measured in gigabytes (GB) and terabytes (TB). The smallest capacity available today tends to be 256GB, which is very small and should only be chosen if you plan on keeping most of your files in the cloud. Photos, videos, or large files can quickly take up this space. I recommend a minimum of 512GB for productivity in school and 1TB for gaming, and anyone that plans on keeping most of their files locally.
  • Graphics: Laptop graphics are responsible for rendering everything you see on the screen. They come in two forms: integrated and dedicated. The first form means that the graphics processing is built into the CPU and will generally be less capable for tasks like gaming. Dedicated graphics means that there is a separate component entirely dedicated to graphics rendering. These come in different tiers denoted by numbers and could occupy an entire article of their own. Generally speaking, for productivity, an integrated GPU will be fine. For gaming, however, a dedicated graphics card will offer the best performance.
  • Portability: When looking at a laptop, it's always important to consider how much it weighs. While five pounds may not seem like much on paper, if you're carrying it on your shoulder every day or hefting it in the crook of your arm, it can quickly begin to feel like more. Thin and light laptops typically weigh 3.5lbs or less and are a good fit for productivity. Gaming laptops tend to be heavier due to their higher performance components and more advanced cooling solutions. If you're on the fence, I recommend visiting a local electronics store and seeing if you can feel a few different types of laptops firsthand.

Laptop FAQ

Which laptop is best for work, school, or gaming?

While each of these questions stand on their own, they can also be addressed together when looking at which laptop is best for work or school. The things you're going to be looking for are mostly the same. You don't need to spend extra on a laptop with a dedicated GPU unless you're doing art or rendering as part of your job or curriculum. Instead, I recommend focusing on at least an 8-core processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. Spend more on additional RAM and storage as your budget allows.

For gaming, things get a bit more complicated. While I would still recommend the same base specs for an entry-level gaming laptop, you'll want to consider laptops with a dedicated GPU if you want to turn graphics settings up. While it's possible to play games on laptops with an integrated graphics card, dedicated GPUs simply perform better and give you more room for better visuals and higher resolutions.

Why do laptops get slow?

This can happen for a number of different reasons. Depending on the specs of your laptop, it's possible that its hardware is no longer up to the requirements of modern Windows and applications. If that's not the case, you should look into dust buildup in the vents and fans, as heat will cause your system to throttle, lowering performance. As a rule, it's important to remember that laptops often have a lower usable lifespan than full-size desktops due to their form factor.

Should I get a laptop or a desktop?

If you're looking for a gaming computer that you can easily take with you on the go, a laptop is a no-brainer. But if you only intend to play games at home, a desktop is probably a better choice. The portability of a laptop often comes at a higher price compared to a similarly specced desktop. Additionally, laptop hardware, even if it has a very similar name – as is the case with laptop graphics cards – often does not run as fast as the desktop version of that component. In the end, the choice comes down to how much you need a portable system versus one that can remain in a single place at home and take up more space.

We Build LEGO Mario Kart: Mario & Standard Kart

The LEGO Mario Kart: Mario & Standard Kart, available for preorder right now, is a build that everyone can love. Casual builders will appreciate its bright primary colors and its big, chunky parts, which make for a surefire crowd-pleaser. Experienced LEGO builders will appreciate the intricacy of the Kart's construction and the absence of stickers; every piece of visual flair is printed directly onto the bricks themselves.

The new set's long, official name – LEGO Mario Kart: Mario & Standard Kart – denotes that LEGO Mario Kart is a subgenre under the larger LEGO Mario banner. By that logic, can we hope for more Kart sets of this size and scope? Yes, there are playset-scaled Kart sets (see at Amazon). But surely, there's an audience for a large Luigi in a Sports Coupe or a large Princess Peach on a Cat Cruiser.

Divided across 17 bags, Mario & Standard Kart is two separate builds. The first build is the Standard Kart. You construct a LEGO Technic mesh, held together by pins and reinforced by bricks, to form the Kart's floorboard. Then you attach the individual parts of the body shell via rods and clamps, including its rockets/exhaust pipes, its side panels, and its steering mechanism, which also forms the Kart's front exterior.

The steering mechanism deserves special mention because of how it marries form to function. One end fastens to the front of the set via clamps, and then you 'fold' it onto the hood, as if it were a storm door on a hinge. You rig it so that when you turn the steering wheel, the front wheels also turn accordingly.

The Kart construction process is more involved and detail-oriented than you might think. The build looks simple, but it takes a lot of tiny, little steps to create that big cumulative effect. It's a delightful contradiction that the build manages to look sophisticated – like labor went into its creation – despite its inherent childishness and whimsy.

Once you're done with the Kart, you build Mario, whose construction follows the same general procedure as The Mighty Bowser's from three years ago. First, you build the torso, with ball-and-socket connections at its extremities. Then you build two legs, which attach at the bottom. Then two arms, which you attach at the sides. And finally, the head and hat, which you attach at the top. Interestingly, the hat is the most complex part of the Mario build; you attach two separate, smaller builds to the top of Mario's head to create its signature, bent appearance.

Mario is ubiquitous, but building him meant that I also had to flesh out his smaller, less iconic details – the hair sticking out from under his hat, the marking on his gloves, the rolled up cuffs on his jeans. My 10-year-old son and I love building jigsaw puzzles together, and whenever we put together a famous painting, we notice colors and brushstrokes that we wouldn't otherwise notice or appreciate. That's what it's like to build Mario out of LEGO – you see little things that contribute to the whole, even if they don't stand out on their own.

Unfortunately, Mario is not separable from the Kart. He has no butt; his torso anchors directly onto a gray plate, which in turn attaches to the Kart seat. It is both frustrating and understandable why LEGO did this. A solo Mario build, with fully articulable limbs, would sell like hotcakes, and LEGO and Nintendo wouldn't give it away so easily.

No doubt, thousands of LEGO fans will figure out a way to modify this model and make it stand independently of the Kart. But for now, there is no official way to make this happen. Maybe it would be a good DIY project for a rainy weekend?

Regardless, the final result looks fantastic. The Kart mounts on a buildable stand, which you can tilt upwards or downwards and rotate 360 degrees. This gives you some flexibility; you can pose the Kart any way you wish, whether going uphill, or going downhill, or sliding into a banked turn. I pose my Mario by having him grip the steering wheel with his left hand and pump the air with his right hand. You can almost hear the "Whoo-hoo!"

If this is the direction LEGO's heading? I'm all for it. Two of the most impressive LEGO sets from the past three years have been Mario-themed. The Mighty Bowser debuted in 2022. The Piranha Plant debuted in 2003. The Mario & Standard Kart reaches that same high standard by balancing build quality with visual presentation. And the more big replicas of Mario iconography that we get, the better.

LEGO Mario Kart: Mario & Standard Kart, Set #72037, retails for $169.99, and it is composed of 1972 pieces. It will launch exclusively at the LEGO Store on May 15. Preorder now.

This is an offical Ultimate Collector Series - or UCS - set. The UCS models are the largest and most detailed Star Wars sets that LEGO produces and an obvious pick for collectors. They are also technically challenging build that are aimed at adult (18+) builders and the instruction manuals are often hundreds of pages long; the Razor Crest is no exception with about 250 pages.

This is a faithful recreation of the iconic ship from The Mandalorian TV series. The detailed interior is easily accessible and features two removable engines and cockpit, two side hatches, a cargo compartment with space for the included Blurrg minifigure, a weapons cabinet, a LEGO minifigure sized carbon-freezing chamber, and detachable escape pod with space for another minifig. Five minifigs are included: the Mandalorian (set exclusive), Mythrol, Kuiil, Grogu in a pram, and a Blurrg.

Although this is a complex build, the interior is made of different color-coded interior components and different steps are individually packaged in bags to make the process more user friendly. Although the Razor Crest is fully intended to be more of a display piece, it's more interactive than most other UCS sets with a lot of internal elements that you can explore even after the build is completed. If you're a LEGO Star Wars collector, this is a must-buy.

Someone Turned LEGO Simba Into a Millennium Falcon and Provided Instructions

LEGO has released a lot of realy cool Disney and Star Wars sets over the years, but never has there been a crossover quite like this. A LEGO fan has decided to take the seemingly innocent young Simba set and turn it into a Millennium Falcon.

Reddit user Minute_Food_2881 (Brad Barber) took to Reddit last week to unveil his creation, which takes the fairly cheep LEGO Simba set and turns it into a Millennium Falcon. It's a rather impressive build considering the Disney set he's working with is only 222 pieces and costs less than $20. Although the finished set looks like some sort of sci-fi horror where flesh meets spacecraft, it is undeniably shaped like a Millennium Falcon and is priced incredibly reasonably compared to other Millennium Falcon LEGO sets (though the most recent one happens to be on sale right now for $67.99 at Amazon).

You can currently pick up the same set this guy used for only $15.99 on Amazon. He has also provided detailed instructions about how to build it yourself via the Rebrickable website for only $3. If you have a love for both Star Wars and The Lion King, now is your chance to combine those two things into something much worse.

New LEGO Star Wars Sets That Aren't This

Outside of this weird creation, LEGO actually did release a bunch of new Star Wars sets this month for May the Fourth. While there were no Millenium Falcons in this lineup, there was a new Jango Fett ship, a Star Wars logo build, and several cool new helmet. You can find a list of all of the new Star Wars builds available below or dive into our larger list of new LEGO sets for May for all of the latest options.

The Coolest Figures and Collectibles Revealed for Star Wars Day 2025

A big part of the fun with Star Wars Day each year is seeing a new wave of toys and collectibles revealed by companies like Hasbro, Sideshow, and Hot Toys. This year's event certainly didn't disappoint, as we got glimpses of a wide range of upcoming products, ranging from less than $20 to over $1500. What can we say? Being a Star Wars collector is nothing if not an expensive hobby.

From Sideshow's epic Luke Skywalker Red 5 statue to Hasbro's nostalgia-heavy Episode III figures to Hot Toys' mind-bogglingly detailed Jar Jar Binks figure, these were the coolest figures and collectibles revealed during Star Wars Day 2025.

Hot Toys' Star Wars Figures

Hot Toys revealed quite the impressive lineup of 1:6 scale figures for Star Wars Day, including a couple of major characters who have surprisingly never gotten the Hot Toys treatment before now. The real surprise is definitely the Jar Jar Binks figure. Love him or hate him, there's no denying that this Jar Jar looks like he walked right off the screen. He's even got seamless arm joints and two swappable face sculpts for recreating all those wacky poses.

Hot Toys is also filling a glaring hole in the Sequel Trilogy lineup by finally releasing a Poe Dameron figure. Fittingly, Poe is wearing his Resistance X-Wing jumpsuit. We're also getting another of the fan-favorite Republic Commandos in the form of Clone Commando Boss, and the company's new Star Wars Rebels-inspired line of animated figures is getting a Darth Vader to accompany the previously announced Stormtrooper figures.

Hasbro's Star Wars Toys

Hasbro revealed a number of new figures in both the 6-inch Black Series line and 3 3/4-inch Vintage Collection line. Hasbro continues to capitalize on the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith by releasing new Black Series figures in packaging based on the classic RotS toy line. Next up are Aayla Secura and a Magnaguard droid. Black Series collectors can also augment their Imperial trooper collections with a Rogue One-themed 2-pack that includes both a Shoretrooper and a Death Trooper.

On the Vintage Collection front, Hasbro has a couple very interesting multi-pack releases in the works. The "Stormtroopers of the Empire 3-Pack" features a Snowtrooper, Scouttrooper and a Sandtrooper. The "Cantina Adventure 4-Pack" includes four aliens from the iconic Mos Eisley sequence, including Hammerhead, Walrus Man, Greedo, and Snaggletooth. It should go great with Hasbro's crowdfunded Mos Eisley Cantina playset.

Finally, Star Wars prop collectors will be happy to know that a new ForceFX Elite lightsaber based on the weapon used by Rebels' star Ezra Bridger is in the works.

Sideshow's Star Wars Figures and Posters

Not to be outdone,. Sideshow Collectibles had a wide lineup of figures, statues, and art prints to reveal. Undoubtedly the showpiece of their Star Wars Day lineup is the Luke Skywalker: Red Five, Standing By Premium Format Figure. This massive 1:4 scale, mixed media statue features Luke decked out in his X-Wing jumpsuit and climbing up the ladder to his trusty ship. What really makes this piece special (and especially expensive) is that Sideshow went to the trouble of actually sculpting a portion of the X-Wing so that it hangs in mid-air.

Sideshow is also continuing to release 1:6 scale figures alongside distributing Hot Toys' releases. Sideshow is focusing on its "Scum and Villainy" line, which highlights the many aliens and creatures that don't necessarily receive attention from Hot Toys. The second wave of Scum and Villainy figures is focused on characters from Jabba's Palace in Return of the Jedi, like Bib Fortuna, Klaatu, and Vizam.

Finally, Sideshow showed off the latest 1:10 statue from Iron Studios, which happens to be a shrunken-down version of their 1:4 scale Darth Vader statue. This Empire Strikes Back-inspired piece still looks mighty cool in the new, smaller scale.

Let us know in the comments below what your favorite Star Wars Day 2025 reveal was, and why it's Hot Toys Jar Jar.

Save $300 Off Alienware's Best OLED Gaming Monitor

The best Alienware high-end gaming monitor deal just got even better is on sale for this week. The 32" Alienware AW3225QF 4K QD OLED gaming monitor has just dropped to $899.99 with free shipping after a $300 off instant discount. If you're looking for the best 4K gaming monitor, this should definitely be on your short list.

32" Alienware AW3225QF 4K OLED Monitor

The Alienware AW3225QF was first announced during CES 2024 and is Dell's one of only two OLED monitors that combines a 4K resolution with an OLED panel (the other being the 27" Alienware AW2725Q that was released earlier this year). This monitor incorporates Samsung's QD OLED technology; QD OLED panels are brighter than traditional OLED panels while maintaining near infinite response time, contrast ratio, and black levels that OLEDs are generally known for. The Alienware AW3225QF is HDR True Black 400 certified with up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness. It also boasts a factory calibrated 99.3% DCI-P3 color range, 1700R curve, 240Hz refresh rate, and G-Sync certification.

Connectivity-wise, the AW3225QF has two HDMI 2.1 ports (one with eARC) and one DisplayPort 1.4 port, all of which are capable of 4K at up to 240Hz. There are also a couple of USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports for attaching peripherals and a single USB Type-C port for charging. Dell backs this monitor up with a three-year warranty that includes burn-in protection.

Something to keep in mind is that 4K monitors require a pretty powerful GPU. 4K resolution has 2.25 times more pixels than QHD; if you want to play games in 4K, especially at frame rates of up to 240fps, you'll want a gaming PC equipped with an GeForce RTX 4070 at the minimum. If your PC is equipped with something as powerful as an RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4090, or RX 7900XTX, then this monitor would be the perfect complement.

Check out the best Alienware deals if you're looking for a good gaming PC deal to complement your purchase.

The New 2025 Apple iPad Drops to the Lowest Price of the Year on Amazon (All Colors Available)

Starting today, Amazon has dropped the price of the newest 2025 11th gen Apple iPad (A16) tablet. All four colors - Blue, Yellow, Pink, and Silver - equipped with 128GB of RAM and Wi-Fi only connectivity are down to $299 after a $50 price drop. This is the best discount I've seen for the latest generation iPad since its launch earlier this year and a great gift idea for Mother's Day, which lands on May 11. A sizeable discount on a very recent iPad release is uncommon, and I don't expect the sale to stick around for more than a couple of days.

$50 Off New 2025 Apple iPad 10.9" (A16) Tablet

For most people, the iPad (not the Air, Mini, or Pro) is the best model to get because it offers all the benefits of iOS as well as snappy performance at an affordable price. The current generation model was released on March 12, 2025, over two years after the previous generation (October 2022). The upgrades include a more powerful processor (A16 vs A14), more RAM (6GB vs 4GB), and more storage (128GB vs 64GB), all. Best of all, the launch price of $349 is actually lower than when the previous generation model was released, which was $399.

The specs that have carried over are the 10.9" Liquid Retina 2360x1640 (264ppi) display, USB Type-C charging, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and the same camera. It's also compatible with the Magic Folio keyboard so you can convert it into a mini laptop for better workflow, making it one of the best iPads for students, and the newer Apple Pencil with USB-C.

The higher end 2025 iPad Air is on sale as well

Amazon is offering the 7th generation Apple iPad Air M3 tablets at the lowest prices I've seen so far. The 11" model is down to $499 and the 13" model is down to $699, both after a $100 off instant discount. That's the best price we've seen for this 2025 model with the M3 chip. The 7th gen iPad Pro Air was released in March and is the current generation model. It's only one year newer than the 6th gen model and the only major upgrade is the jump from the M2 to the M3 chip.

Save $100 off the smallest member of the iPad family

Starting this week, Amazon is offering the current generation Apple iPad Mini (A17 Pro) for only $399.99 shipped after a $100 discount. The new iPad Mini was released in October of 2024 and features some pretty significant improvements over its predecessor, including a more powerful A17 Pro processor, double the base storage capacity, an updated faster Wi-Fi 6e protocol, a USB Type-C port that offers faster charging, and compatibility with the newer Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C), and Apple Intelligence.

Save 70% Off 1 Year of Peacock TV, Now Just $2/Month

Peacock TV just launched another seasonal coupon code. Get one year of the ad-supported Peacock Premium plan for only $24.99 - or about $2.08 per month - when you apply promo code: "SPRINGSAVINGS". That's 70% off the normal annual price of $79.99. Anyone who isn't currently subscribed to Peacock TV is eligible, and that includes past subscribers with expired accounts. This actually beats out its previous winter sale promotional price of $29.99.

1 Year of Peacock Premium for $24.99

In our recently updated Peacock TV streaming service review, Rosie Knight wrote, "When it comes to growth and evolution since its launch, Peacock has really had an impressive journey. In 2024 it feels like the service has found its niche as an affordable platform with a wide range of viewing options. When every other service is edging closer towards $20 a month, Peacock offers new straight-from-the-theater movies, an untouchable TV back catalog, and even live sports. It's a selection that keeps Peacock in the streaming conversation, while the affordability raises it up to one of the best options."

Watch Wicked Exclusively on Peacock

Watch Nosferatu on Peacock

Watch The Wild Robot on Peacock

Access to Live Sports, Including NFL Sunday Night Football

Since Peacock TV is owned and operated by NBC (Peacock, after all, is named after the NBC logo), you get access to NFL Sunday Night football games. Unfortunately, you will not be able to stream this year's Super Bowl LIX (Eagles and Chiefs) since it is being televised by Fox. You also get access to other live sports like Premier League, Big Ten Football, and WWE.

Exclusive Access to The Office

Peacock has a couple of other big wins. This is the only platform where you're able to stream all episodes of The Office for no additional fee. If you aren't familiar with the inter-work relationships between Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute, you are seriously missing out. If that still doesn't tickle your fancy, Yellowstone is another outstanding TV series that just recently ended with its fifth season. (This was a Paramount original that Peacock had the streaming rights to because Paramount made a deal with Peacock before Paramount+ existed. Complicated!) Video game aficionados will find plenty of things to like here as well, like the superbly animated new Super Mario Bros. kids' flick, the Five Night At Freddies supernatural horror, or the Twisted Metal TV series.

Check out more of the best streaming service free trials that are going on right now.

Devolver Digital Is Going Out of Its Way to Launch a New Game the Same Day as GTA 6

Rockstar Games has revealed that Grand Theft Auto 6's release date is May 26, 2026, and indie game publisher Devolver Digital says it’s already making plans to be there with a new game of its own.

The company took a lighthearted shot at what is indisputably set up to be the biggest game launch of 2026 with a release date announcement of its own on X/Twitter. Now that GTA 6 has a proper release date, Devolver Digital has announced plans to release a mystery title on that same May 26 date. It’s a chaotic marketing strategy that Devolver Digital seems serious about following through on at least for now.

The mystery game’s release date arrives after the company previously made the promise to launch a game of its own when Rockstar finally announced its long-awaited GTA 6 release date. We now know that date to be May 26 of next year, so naturally, Devolver Digital has a message: “You can’t escape us.”

You can’t escape us.

May 26, 2026 it is then. https://t.co/eVa5bB1vrh

— Devolver Digital (@devolverdigital) May 2, 2025

Devolver Digital has an extensive library of smaller-scale titles such as Hotline Miami, Enter the Gungeon, The Messenger, Katana Zero, Cult of the Lamb, and more. Whether the company plans to release a follow-up to an existing series or something new entirely remains to be seen. Upcoming entries in its catalog of games include Baby Steps and Stick It to the Stickman, two projects that are due out before 2025 comes to an end. There’s also Enter the Gungeon 2 and Human Fall Flat 2, which are both expected to arrive sometime in 2026, though developer No Brakes Games has already assured fans that it has no intention of releasing the latter on May 26.

We can confirm that Human Fall Flat 2 will NOT be releasing on May 26, 2026 https://t.co/zl3GbjSmia

— Human Fall Flat (@HumanFallFlat) May 2, 2025

More than a year out from launch, GTA 6 is already positioned to be a juggernaut video game. It’ll be Rockstar’s first numbered entry in its critically acclaimed sandbox series since 2013, with many doing everything they can to ensure they’ll be able to play on day one. Devolver Digital is doing its best to get a slice of that pie in a very Devolver Digital way, but we’ll have to wait to see exactly how it will do so.

For more, you can read up on Rockstar’s history of delaying it big-budget releases. You can also learn more about how a game like GTA 6 affects more than just Rockstar’s plans by clicking here.

Marvel Officially Retitles Thunderbolts as The New Avengers

Spoilers ahead for Marvel’s Thunderbolts*.

Marvel Studios has officially retitled Thunderbolts* as The New Avengers. The studio made the announcement on social media Monday with a change to the title on the film’s poster. And lest you think this is just a social media stunt on Marvel’s part, the New Avengers poster is already being used by AMC Theaters and Fandango to promote Thunderbolts ticket sales.

Marvel also posted a video of the cast peeling the Thunderbolts title off the poster to reveal The New Avengers underneath it at last week's Hollywood premiere as well as a video of Sebastian Stan changing posters at a bus stop.

The asterisk in the title of Thunderbolts had long been a matter of speculation until the ending of Thunderbolts revealed that Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, U.S. Agent and Sentry/Bob Reynolds were the New Avengers lineup spontaneously announced by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.

Marvel Studios' #̶T̶h̶u̶n̶d̶e̶r̶b̶o̶l̶t̶s̶* #TheNewAvengers is now playing only in theaters.

Get tickets: https://t.co/bFq0RNfp6K pic.twitter.com/HWfzmFBANq

— Marvel Studios* (@MarvelStudios) May 5, 2025

Rebranding Thunderbolts as The New Avengers in its second week of release is a shrewd commercial calculation by Marvel Studios and Disney. While Thunderbolts performed well in its opening weekend, topping the domestic box office with $76 million, the Avengers films were billion dollar-grossing blockbusters.

Perhaps the movie will perform even better in the coming weeks now that general audiences know that the film is really a restart of the Avengers franchise.

The New Avengers – along with Sam Wilson/Captain America, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men – will return in Avengers: Doomsday, which is now filming in London. Doctor Doom star Robert Downey Jr. let the New Avengers reveal slip in an Instagram post over the weekend about him and his Doomsday co-stars going to see Thunderbolts but he later deleted the “New Avengers” mention from it.

What do you think of Marvel officially retitling Thunderbolts* as The New Avengers? Let us know in the comments.

Walmart Has a 75" Samsung 4K Smart TV for Just $399 with Free Shipping

Walmart is currently offering the lowest price I've seen this year for a 75" Samsung 4K smart TV. Right now you can pick up a 75" Samsung DU7200B Crystal 4K smart TV for only $399 shipped (you'll see the price when you add the TV to your cart). It's sold and shipped by Walmart direct, not a marketplace vendor, so it comes with a 1-year Samsung warranty.

75" Samsung DU7200B Crystal 4K Smart TV for $399

If you want to stick with the Samsung brand and you want a big screen size, there isn't any other TV that offers up a 75" screen size at a better price. As far as TVs go, my rule of thumb is bigger is always better as long as your space can fit it. The Samsung DU7200B is a no-frills TV with a native 4K resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, and Samsung's Tizen smart interface. Sure, it's an entry-level model that sits under other TV models equipped with QLEDs, Mini LEDs, or OLEDs, but it also costs hundreds less and offers up great image quality in nearly all conditions. It's surely a TV for the masses.

The DU7200B is labelled as a "Crystal 4K TV," which means that it boasts a wider spectrum of colours via Dynamic Crystal Color technology that adds more contrast to the images, according to Samsung. It also supports Dolby Vision, HDR10/HDR10+, and HLG HDR formats. Although the panel maxes out at 60Hz refresh rate, the DU7200B does support VRR (variable refresh rate) and ALLM (auto low latency mode). It'd make a great pair with the upcoming Switch 2 since that console maxes out at 60Hz in 4K anyways.

The AirPods Pro and AirPods 4 Earbuds Are on Sale Ahead of Mother's Day

Apple's newest AirPods are all on sale and would make a great gift idea for Mother's Day, which lands on May 11. Starting with the highest end model, the second generation Apple AirPods Pro wireless noise-canceling earbuds is $169 shipped (normally $240). The next step down, the Apple AirPods 4 with ANC (active noise cancelation) is down to $148 (normally $179). Finally, the value-packed AirPods 4 without ANC drops to $99.99 (normally $129).

Apple AirPods Pro for $169

The AirPods Pro is the best-sounding "truly wireless" earbuds for iPhone users thanks to its passively isolating in-ear design combined with excellent active noise cancelation, low-distortion driver and amp, and the Apple H2 chip. It also has useful features like Adaptive Transparency Mode, which lets you better hear your surroundings without removing your earbuds, and Conversation Mode, which automatically enhances the voices of people you're talking to. The second generation AirPods Pro replaces the Lightning port with a more universal USB Type-C port so you don't have to mix and match cables, and also includes a MagSafe charging case as standard.

Save Over $40 Off the New Apple AirPods 4

The Apple AirPods 4 was released on September, 2024 in two variants: both models are mostly identical with the exception of the noise canceling functionality on the more expensive one. The AirPods 4 features several updates over the AirPods 3 which brings it in-line with modern day standards. These improvements include the newer Apple H2 chip (vs H1), Bluetooth 5.3 support (vs Bluetooth 5.0), better IP54 resistance rating which now protects against dust intrustion (vs IPX4), USB Type-C (vs Lightning), and replacement of the skin detect sensor with a more reliable optical in-ear sensor.

Should you get the AirPods Pro over AirPods 4 with ANC?

The AirPods Pro is a superior earbud, which is why it retails for $70 more than the AirPods 4 ANC. Both feature active noise cancelation, but the AirPods Pro produces better sound quality and more effective noise canceling because of its design. The AirPods 4 ANC is an open-ear style earbud with non-adjustable tips. They're designed to sit right outside of the ear which – while comfortable – means you get plenty of sound leakage and ambient noise intrusion.

On the other hand, the AirPods Pro is an in-ear style of earbud that sits right inside your ear canal, sealing the passage and passively isolating it from the ambient air. Adjustable tips are included to accomodate different sized ears and ensure you get that proper sealing fit, which is very important to squeeze out the best performance. At this price, the only compelling reason to still go for the AirPods 4 ANC is if you don't like the intrusive nature of in-ear style earbuds in general.

A new Apple iPad would also make an awesome gift for mom

Amazon has dropped the price of the newest 2025 11th gen Apple iPad (A16) tablet. All four colors - Blue, Yellow, Pink, and Silver - equipped with 128GB of RAM and Wi-Fi only connectivity are down to $299 after a $50 price drop. Gears of War: Reloaded Coming in Summer, Even on Playstation

Happy Monday! Microsoft just announced Gears of War: Reloaded, a remaster of the original 2006 game that will launch on August 26 on Xbox, PC and PlayStation. The shiny new version will come with improved visuals and audio, cross-play and cross-progression, and all the DLC from the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.

"As we approach the 20th anniversary of Gears of War in 2026, we’re reflecting on what this franchise means. It’s about the stories we’ve told, the friendships we’ve built, and the unforgettable moments we’ve shared together. With Gears of War: Reloaded, we’re opening that door to more players than ever," said Mike Crump, Studio Head at The Coalition in the announcement post.

Not only do PlayStation owners get to play, the love can be shared across the console barricades.

"Gears of War: Reloaded is built for shared play — whether you’re teaming up in split-screen or jumping online. The Campaign supports two-player co-op, and Versus Multiplayer allows up to 8 players. With cross-play across all platforms, you and your friends can squad up no matter where you play — no Microsoft account required," confirmed Crump.

However, signing in with a Microsoft account unlocks full cross-platform functionality. It enables cross-progression, so your Campaign and multiplayer progress carries across devices. It also allows you to send invites and play with friends across platforms — like Xbox to PlayStation or Steam to Xbox."

Microsoft also delivered a full list of the improvements that all players - whatever the console - can expect to see:

  • 4K resolution
  • 60 FPS in Campaign
  • 120 FPS in Multiplayer
  • High Dynamic Range (HDR)
  • Dolby Vision & 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos
  • 7.1.4 3D Spatial Audio
  • Variable Refresh Rate (VRR)
  • 4K assets and remastered textures
  • Enhanced post-processing visual effects
  • Improved shadows and reflections
  • Super resolution with improved anti-aliasing
  • Zero loading screens during Campaign

As a little treat for the Gears of War faithful, Gears of War: Reloaded will be a free upgrade for any players who purchased the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition ahead of today's announcement. If you're one of the special ones expect a code via Xbox DM ahead of the release.

Deals For Today: Pokémon TCG Rare Packs And Crashing Singles

The Pokémon Trading Card Game singles market has taken a sharp dive, making it an ideal time to pick up high-value cards for less. With prices on many chase cards falling below recent norms, collectors can now complete sets or grab favorites without relying on luck from booster packs.

TL;DR: Deals For Today

Interested in sealed products? Amazon is discounting a selection of TCG boxes and bundles. From legacy boxes to recent releases, many of these products are coming in over MSRP, which is why I want to let readers know that retailers putting pricing up isn't their only option during Pokémania 2025. TCG Player is a secondary marketplace that is widely used in the US for the gold standard on current Pokémon TCG values thanks to its value tracking across the secondary market. Let's get into it, regardless of ripping open booster packs or finding that dream chase card:

Infernape V Box

This set comes with four booster packs, a foil Infernape V, a foil Empoleon, and a jumbo-sized Infernape V card. It's a compact product with good display value and a steady mix of packs. This big box set is one of the only ways to buy Sword and Shield era booster packs at retail, and it's cheaper than the secondary market right now. Looking for Fusion Strike or Lost Origins singles and sealed product? I've got you covered there too:

Azure Legends Tin

This five-pack tin includes a random promo card featuring Kyogre ex, Xerneas ex, or Dialga ex. Two of the packs are from Surging Sparks expansion which is nice to see amongst the mix of Stellar Crown and Temporal Forces. If you're only after some illustration rares and nothing too expensive, you'll find plenty of single cards for you binder for less below:

Clair Obsur: Expedition 33 Merch

The IGN Store has launched exclusive merchandise for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The collection includes prints, hoodies, t-shirts, mugs, and other themed gear. Prices start at $15 with a wide range of characters and designs represented.

Surging Sparks Booster Box

This full booster box contains 36 packs from Surging Sparks. For players who want 36 packs to open in one sitting, this works out the cheapest, but it's still around $60 above MSRP. Most of the chase cards from this set can be bought for less:

Doom & Wolfenstein Mayhem Game Bundle

Humble’s latest bundle features fifteen games and bonuses from id Software, including DOOM Eternal, DOOM 64, and multiple Wolfenstein titles. It also includes a coupon for 10% off DOOM: The Dark Ages. For $28, the value is strong across retro and modern releases, making this a savage deal for FPS fans.

Terapagos ex Ultra-Premium

This includes 18 booster packs, three exclusive promo cards, a magnetic card holder, a playmat, and a deck box. It's built for collectors who want full presentation value. Once again, if you just wasnt a certain card, take a look at the singles market before you buy:

Prismatic Evolutions ETB

This box includes nine booster packs, a full-art Eevee promo, 65 themed sleeves, and a wide array of gameplay accessories. This is also nearly three times the MSRP, which is crazy. If you really want to box and contents, go for it, but there's better options on the secondary market right now:

Shrouded Fable ETB

This ETB focuses on Pecharunt with a sweet looking promo and comes with nine booster packs, themed card sleeves, dice, condition markers, and a collector’s box with dividers. Same situation here, it's a cool addition to your collection, but this has gone up by around $10 from last week. Meanwhile the singles market is crashing:

Paldean Fates Booster Bundle

This six-pack bundle features cards from the Paldean Fates line, which centers on Shiny Pokémon. The pricing puts it just under the typical cost of buying packs individually, but it's still expensive compared to the cards that can be bought right now in this set:

Prismatic Evolutions Surprise Box

Each box includes four booster packs and one foil promo featuring a random Eevee evolution. The included storage box has built-in dividers, which helps keep growing collections organized. If you fancy paying $15 per booster and want the stamped regular ex eeveelution card, go for it. The stamped cards go anywhere from $15 to nearly $60, so there's arguably value in this box when considering the promo.

2004 Pokéball Bundle

Each bundle includes three collectible tins, nine total booster packs, and sticker sheets. This box in particular contains Poké Ball, Premier Ball, and Moon Ball tins.

2004 Pokéball Bundle

The same situation here, but trainers will get Poké Ball, Great Ball, and Ultra Ball tins instead.

Surging Sparks Booster Bundle

One of the cheaper ways to get Surging Sparks boosters right now, albiet overpriced (again). There's only five cards in Surging Sparks that can't be bought for under $50, check it out:

151 Poster Collection

If you want to keep this sealed for your collection, go for it. Otherwise, this is a waste of money for three booster packs. Here's some cool single card options:

Ths Powerful Alienware Aurora R16 Gaming PC with GeForce RTX 5080 GPU Has Dropped in Price

Dell has one of the best prices on an RTX 5080 equipped prebuilt desktop computer. Right now you can pick up an Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 5080 gaming PC from $2,349.99 shipped.

Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 5080 Gaming PC for $2,350

This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The current-gen Intel Core Ultra 7 265F Meteor Lake CPU boasts a max turbo frequency of 5.3GHz with 20 cores and a 30MB cache. It's cooled by a robust 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler and the entire system is powered by a generously equipped 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

Upgrade to an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor for $100 more

Starting this week, Dell is offering a second RTX 5080 configuration for sale. This one's equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285 processor with a max turbo frequency of 5.6GHz and 24 cores. It will perform about the same as the Ultra 7 in terms of gaming, but it will be better for rendering and productivity apps that can make use of the extra cores.

The GeForce RTX 5080 GPU will run any game in 4K

The RTX 5080 is the second best Blackwell graphics card, surpassed only by the $2,000 RTX 5090. It's about 5%-10% faster than the previous generation RTX 4080 Super, which is discontinued and no longer available. In games that support the new DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation exclusive to Blackwell cards, the gap widens.

Elden Ring Nightreign: 'Libra' Boss Reveal Gameplay – IGN First

Elden Ring Nightreign is IGN's cover story for the month of May. We got to spend two days at From Software's office in Tokyo, and came back with a heaping of reveals, interviews, hands-on impressions, and more.

To kick things off though, we've got the exclusive reveal of one of the eight Nightlords players will be facing off against at the end of a run in Nightreign. Introducing Libra: Creature of Night. This madness inducing boss packs some really interesting mechanics, including a decision you must make at the beginning of the fight where you can decide whether or not to make a deal with the boss to gain some sort of benefit, like gaining more strength, or more elemental resistance, or a very powerful weapon. Be careful, because the better the deal, the steeper the price, and the cost of the deal is never known until you actually take it.

Check it out in the gameplay video above, and stay tuned all May long for more exclusive Elden Ring Nightreign IGN First coverage!
