AU Deals: Turning and Burning on a Budget With the Moza AB6 Base, MHG Flightstick, and MTQ Throttle Panel

Before we launch off the carrier deck, here's an important distinction for mild dyslexics like me. The Moza AB9 (which I’m quite familiar with) offers significantly stronger, smoother belt driven force feedback with 12 Nm peak torque. While today’s subject, the AB6 comes in a more affordable, compact bundle. We’re talking the base, a stick, mount but also only half the power at 6 Nm peak torque and a gear driven feel that can feel slightly... notchy.

Not to give my impressions away in the intro, but the AB6 is what you ought to lock-on to if you need a great value entry-level to mid-range flight sim solution. I’ll always loop back to my AB9 as the premium high performance preferred, obviously, but the AB6 will now become the highly capable backup my eldest will probably earn his sim wings with.

Or, hey, maybe I’ll repurpose it into a force feedback manual gearshifter for my racing rig. This is quite possible with a small extra purchase.

Speaking of buying things, let's get the first hurdle out of the way: price of admission. I did say the AB6 setup was entry level, but in the sim peripherals world, that can still mean steeper than a kamikaze nose dive. Click here to skip that eye-watering window shop if you'd like to.

Moza Flight Test Gear

All About That Base

The AB6 Base is Moza very deliberately trimming the fat without cutting the nerve. This is a compact force feedback unit that still wants to grab you by the wrist and remind you that flying is a physical challenge, not just an elaborate finger ballet on a keyboard or controller.

At 6 Nm peak torque, it is exactly half the muscle of the AB9, but that number undersells how assertive it feels in practice. Once bolted down properly, and yes, bolting it down is non negotiable (do not go by my clutter-avoiding glamour photos), the AB6 communicates aircraft behaviour with quiet confidence. Control surface loading, trim changes, turbulence, buffet, runway rumble and high speed compression all come through clearly, especially when you are flinging a fully fuelled F18E Super Hornet around like you’re about to go buzz the nearest Nimitz-class tower.

The gear driven mechanism introduces a slight mechanical texture to movement. You feel the teeth working, particularly around centre, and while some will describe this as notchy (and I do agree), I would argue it also feels sincere. There is a sense of machinery at play. You are not gliding on silk, you are wrangling a flying contraption that is sometimes bucking back, and in a modern jet context that feels quite satisfying.

Build quality is classic, rock solid Moza. Aviation grade aluminium alloy, tight tolerances, zero flex and a reassuring weight that helps keep everything planted once mounted. The fanless design keeps things quiet, even when the motors are working overtime trying to simulate high G turns and control stiffening at speed.

Connectivity is simple. USB to PC, power to a chunky external brick, and Moza Cockpit software handling all of your many, many, many doodads. That software remains one of Moza’s quiet strengths. Like it was with my AB9, the presets for DCS World are quick to apply, custom tuning is straightforward, and nothing about it feels like an afterthought.

MHG Flightstick: Fighter DNA Without the Premium Tax

The MHG Flightstick is very clearly aimed at military aviation fans, and more specifically, people who want a convincing modern jet grip without cluster bombing their wallet into obliteration.

It sits comfortably in the hand with a shape that feels purpose built for aggressive top gunning. The materials strike a good balance between durability and comfort, with no sharp edges or awkward pressure points popped up, even after long sorties. After a week or so of extended DCS sessions, my hand fatigue came from white knuckle dogfighting rather than poor ergonomics.

Input wise, the MHG offers a generous selection of buttons, hats and triggers that feel crisp and deliberate. There is no mush here, and I always love durability ensuring Hall-effect sensors. Each input press feels intentional, which matters when you are juggling radar modes, weapon selection, trim, countermeasures and comms while also trying not to poleaxe yourself down through the hard deck and into a mountain.

Mounted to the AB6, the stick benefits greatly from the base’s force feedback personality. High speed turns load up convincingly, control stiffening under G is communicated clearly, and as you slow down or dirty up the jet, the stick lightens appropriately. The feedback loop between hand, base and aircraft feels coherent, which is ultimately what sells the illusion.

This is not just vibration for the sake of it. It is valuable, contextual feedback that tells you what the aircraft is doing before the HUD or warning tones have a chance to screech at you. And take it from me: when paired with VR it’s an absolute chef’s kiss of immersion. That's why my monitor is so small in those photos. Never use it.

The MTQ Throttle Panel: The Unsung Hero

If the base and stick are the stars of the show, the MTQ Throttle Panel is the quietly brilliant supporting act that ends up doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Designed as a modular throttle solution, the MTQ offers smooth travel, adjustable resistance and a layout that makes sense for both military and civilian aircraft profiles. In the F18E, it feels right at home, especially when managing power through carrier launches, formation flying and high workload combat scenarios.

What stood out most during testing was the throttle’s precision. Small adjustments are easy to make, which is crucial when flying close to stall speeds or managing approach and landing phases. The resistance is firm enough to prevent accidental movement, but never fights you when quick power changes are required.

The additional inputs on the panel are well placed and easy to reach without shifting grip. Everything feels designed by people who actually fly in sims, rather than by someone ticking feature boxes on a spreadsheet.

Paired with the AB6 and MHG, the MTQ completes the ecosystem in a way that feels cohesive rather than piecemeal. But it’s not all good news, however, as the panel base is mighty light and prone to slipping about unless you lock it down. And, though it’s to be expected in its budget positioning, the throttle is functional but also felt underwhelming to my left mitt. It’s more plasticky in the palm than I thought it was going to be.

Who This Is Really For

Here’s an obvious statement that I’ll say anyway. The Moza AB6 Base, MHG Flightstick and MTQ Throttle Panel combination is not trying to be Mav' or Iceman of the high end flight peripherals market. It's like a Hollywood or a Wolfman; just a decent wingman to anybody looking to engage with proper force feedback simming without much of the magic being jettisoned.

For newcomers stepping up from non force feedback gear, this will still feel transformative. For experienced sim pilots who want a secondary setup, a compact rig or a more affordable entry point for family members, it makes a compelling case.

If the price of an AB9 is too sky high for your tastes, you no longer have to pull eject on your FFB flight sim dreams. Because this is a setup that understands its lane and more or less nails it. It turns and burns with confidence, communicates clearly through your hands, and makes every successful sortie feel just that little bit more alive. And, paradoxically, should you completely screw up your landing, you'll feel even more extra alive in the throes of that ensuing explosion.

Primal Season 3 Premiere Review

Full spoilers follow for Primal Season 3, Episode 1, “Vengeance of Death,” which debuts on Adult Swim on January 11 and on HBO Max on January 12.

Genndy Tartakovsky established his reputation as a singular talent in the realm of television animation long ago thanks to the likes of shows such as Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, and Star Wars: Clone Wars, but his caveman-and-dinosaur epic Primal, which debuted in 2019, has in many ways been his finest hour, a culmination of his vision for how serialized animation could work that he had been striving towards for years. And now Primal is back for a third season, which is part relaunch/part follow-up – and, based on Episode 1 at least, as visually striking and intriguing as ever.

Yes, the Neanderthal hero of the first two seasons known only as Spear (voiced by Aaron LaPlante) has returned, and this despite his having been killed at the end of Season 2 in definitive fashion. That episode was both devastating and uplifting, as Spear died a hero so that his extended family – his faithful dino companion Fang, human friend Mira, and their offspring, both dinosaur and human (including a daughter Spear would never meet!) – could live. It was tragic and amazing, and seemed like the perfect end to his story.

But as Tartakovsky has discussed, his plans for a third season, which would be an anthology version of Primal, never quite seemed to work, and eventually he was inspired by the idea of returning to the world of Spear… albeit a now zombified version of our favorite caveman who is about as far from the living Spear as can be. For now, anyway.

“Vengeance of Death” opens in the aftermath of a slaughter of a village, but one old man has survived – and he’s ready for the vengeance of the title. Wordlessly – this is Primal after all – using his arcane magic, which includes potions, an eyeball, and the blood and heart of one of his dead attackers, the old man resurrects Spear, whose decomposing body has been wrapped up and resting peacefully for who knows how long. And so this new Spear – lumbering, mindless, naked, and more dangerous than ever – is born.

Soon enough, Spear is tearing the old man’s enemies to shreds, and he’s got a leg up on his living form as well – he can take spears to the chest and various other injuries with no problem. This fight (the first of several action scenes in the 22-minute episode), which has the old man controlling Spear as he gets his revenge, is pure Primal, beginning as the seemingly subhuman enemy chomp away on raw flesh around a campfire (are they cannibals, eating the old man’s friends and family?). Bathed in a red light which foreshadows the bloodletting that is about to happen, they all perk up at a sound from the jungle. Silently, they stare at the treeline before the hazy image of Spear appears, a silhouette masked by a green fog. Cue the subhumans’ hooting and hollering, which breaks the silence, and then their efficient destruction at the hands of our new favorite zombie.

What is the plan for this zombie Spear? There’s no denying it was a pretty ballsy move to bring him back after the perfect ending of Season 2.

Amid this gratifying action, typically handsome design work, and effective soundscape, there’s also a touch of humor as one of the subhumans manages to slice off a piece of Spear’s skull – and some brain along with it. Having suddenly been immobilized because the old man died in the battle, our undead hero just stares slack-jawed, not responding at all to his lost bit of cranium. The subhuman does a double take at his opponent and the skull cap on the ground, and then decides to hightail it out of there.

A POV shot for Spear sets up what follows, as he looks on mindlessly at the carnage he has wrought. And then… nothing. With the old man no longer controlling him, he just stands there and… exists. Time passes, and Tartakovsky lets the beat play as night eventually turns to day. But as the sun rises and shines on Spear, well, something finally happens… He stands upright and moans. And starts walking.

Where is he going? What is the plan for this zombie Spear? There’s no denying it was a pretty ballsy move to bring him back after the perfect ending of Season 2, and it’s an even ballsier move to turn a beloved hero into a zombified mess. But clearly there’s more to the story here, with those flashes of his past hitting Spear and inspiring him. The world of Primal has never been about actual prehistoric times, of course, and it’s full of magic and all kinds of crazy stuff, so the idea that Spear could be restored to his human self and perhaps even reunited with Fang and his daughter is not out of the question. Wherever this goes, I’m confident Genndy Tartakovsky has something cool – and beautiful – planned.

Questions and Notes From Anachronistic History

  • After giving us a bit of dialogue in Season 2, we’re back to dialogue-free (so far anyway) in Season 3.
  • The cave drawing of Spear at his former final resting place shows him surrounded by fire, a callback to his final battle in Season 2.
  • Nice Frankenstein-esque touch of having the zombie Spear be taken in by that afflicted tribe. But those situations never can last, can they?
  • Tartakovsky and his team really sell the undead-ness of Spear, from the crunchy sound effects when his body moves to the fly buzzing and landing on his unblinking eye to the way he just lands on the ground with so much dead weight when he sits down.
  • I’ll try to come back and review Primal each week if you guys want it. Let me know!

Avatar: Fire and Ash Now Up to $1.231 Billion Worldwide After 4 Weekends in Theaters

Avatar: Fire and Ash has now grossed $1.231 billion globally after four weekends in theaters, with Zootopia 2 up to $1.655 billion worldwide after six weekends.

James Cameron’s sci-fi sequel added $21.3 million domestically and $65.6 million internationally this weekend. In total, Avatar 3 has made $342.6 million domestically, leaving the majority of its box office — $888 million — coming internationally. That’s par for the course for the Avatar movies, which have tended to show staying power at theaters and perform particularly well in China. Avatar: Fire and Ash has made $149 million to date in China, and is behind only Zootopia 2 in terms of films released in 2025. Speaking of Zootopia 2, it’s made an incredible $1.276 billion internationally, with $611 million coming from China. It is Walt Disney Animation’s highest-grossing movie of all time.

The special effects-heavy Avatar films cost a huge amount of money to produce, but they have historically made billions of dollars at the box office. 2009's Avatar 1 remains the highest-grossing movie of all time (not adjusted for inflation), and has earned a staggering $2.9 billion across several theatrical runs. 2022's Avatar: The Way of Water has earned $2.3 billion, meanwhile, cementing its place as the third-highest grossing film of all time — just ahead of Cameron's own Titanic.

We’ve spoken for some time now about Avatar: Fire and Ash’s box office performance and how well it’s doing relative to Avatar 1 and 2. Avatar: Fire and Ash is indeed trailing both its predecessors at this point in its run — by some distance, too. After weekend four, Avatar: The Way of Water had made $1.713 billion, and Avatar had made $1.335 billion. It looks increasingly unlikely that Fire and Ash will end up matching Avatar 1 or 2 by the end of its theatrical run. But the bigger question is whether it will end up doing well enough to convince Disney to greenlight Avatar 4 and 5. Disney has given both sequels release dates already: Avatar 4 currently has a December 21, 2029 release date, with Avatar 5 due out December 19, 2031. Cameron, now 71, would be close to 80 years old by the time it all wraps up.

In the run up to Fire and Ash’s release, Cameron admitted he was feeling nervous about the film’s box office performance and expressed concern about the “forces” working against theatrical releases in 2025. Speaking on The Town with Matthew Belloni podcast, Cameron said there was potential for “sequelitis.” He added: "people tend to dismiss sequels unless it’s the third Lord of the Rings film and you want to see what happens to everybody, which in my mind this is — this is the culmination of a story arc, but that may not be how the public sees it.” And there’s the “one-two punch” of streaming and Covid, which means fewer people are going to the movies — 75% of the number in 2019, Cameron suggested.

Disney has used Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailers to encourage repeat viewings of Avatar: Fire and Ash in theaters. Four teasers have been released so far, with each going online after a week of theatrical exclusivity ahead of Fire and Ash.

Meanwhile, The Housemaid starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried is nearing the $200 million mark globally, with positive word of mouth fueling strong holds week on week. A sequel is already confirmed. Anaconda starring Jack Black and Paul Rudd is now up to $110.1 million at the global box office. And Marty Supreme starring Timothée Chalamet is on $84.1 million globally.

The Warhammer 40,000 Narrative Finally Looks Set for a Significant Jolt Forward After 500 Worlds Book Teases Long-Awaited Meeting of Primarchs

Warhammer 40,000 lore fans are in overdrive after a single page of a new campaign book teased something that’s never happened before in the setting: the meeting of two loyalist primarchs.

The primarchs are the overpowered, genetically-engineered demigod sons of the Emperor, the leaders of the loyalist Space Marine legions before they were broken up into chapters following the catastrophic civil war known as the Horus Heresy. Warhammer 40,000 as a narrative operated for decades with most of the primarchs either thought dead or lost in the warp.

Today, only two primarchs are confirmed alive and active in the current Warhammer 40,000 setting: Ultramarines boss Roboute Guilliman, who returned to the galaxy during the Gathering Storm event in 2017, and Dark Angels chief Lion El'Jonson, who miraculously popped back into existence as part of the Arks of Omen storyline in early 2023. These were galaxy-shaking plot developments for the Warhammer 40,000 setting, and ever since Lion El'Jonson’s shock return to Warhammer 40,000, fans have wondered when he’d finally bump into his brother, Roboute. Now, it looks like that long-awaited family reunion will take place in the coming months, after a new campaign book teased a meeting of the Emperor’s sons.

Word comes from Warhammer 40,000 lore expert Arbitor Ian, who IGN has partnered with for a number of explainer videos, such as the one above. Arbitor Ian got an early look at 500 Worlds: Titus, a soon to be released Warhammer 40,000 campaign book and narrative expansion that features 80 pages of lore covering the beginning of the Ultramarian Reclamation, and published a new video on its most explosive lore reveal.

To back up briefly, Lieutenant Titus from the Space Marine 2 video game has become one of the most recognizable faces in Warhammer 40,000 following its enormous success. To capitalize on Titus’ newfound fame, Games Workshop promoted him to Captain and made him Master of the Watch, which means he’s in charge of defending the 500 Worlds of Ultramar, the realm of Space Marine poster boys, the Ultramarines. With Roboute Guilliman off gallivanting with his Indomitus Crusade, Titus is now in charge of keeping things safe and sound back home, where new Necron threats have emerged, as they always do.

According to the new video from Arbitor Ian, 500 Worlds: Titus has a crucial piece of new lore, found right at the back of the book, that teases a meeting between Guilliman and Lion El'Jonson. It is an intergalactic message written by Lion El'Jonson and intended for Roboute Guilliman that reads: “Brother. We need to talk.”

This seemingly innocuous message teases a momentous plot development for the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Never before have two loyalist primarchs met in the current setting. Of course they spent a great deal of time with each other before the 41st millennium. They were, generally, pals during the glory days of the Great Crusade, for example. All the primarchs (apart from the two we don't talk about) were active during the foundational events of the Horus Heresy, which took place 10,000 years before the current setting. And we just got our first novel set during the era known as The Scouring, which saw the loyalist primarchs enact their revenge on the traitor legions in the aftermath of the Horus Heresy.

The question now is, how will this meeting between Lion El'Jonson and Roboute go? It’s hard to tell. Some fans are speculating the Lion will be a bit miffed at Roboute, who has alarmed more than a few inquisitive minds with his Indomitus Crusade. Others think (hope?) the brothers will join forces to help drive back the forces of Chaos and rekindle the glory days of the Imperium. Given this is Warhammer 40,000 and everything is… awful, I suspect that plenty will go wrong, no matter the Lion’s feelings about his brother.

And then there’s the speculation around the message itself: “Brother. We need to talk.” That doesn’t sound aggressive necessarily, but it does suggest a matter of some importance needs to be brought to Guilliman’s attention. What does the Lion know that his brother doesn’t? Does he carry a warning? Has he discovered some grand conspiracy about their father, the Emperor? Does he bring good news? Is another loyalist primarch about to return?

Arbitor Ian speculates that the Lion may be upset with Guilliman because he believes his brother to be trying to usurp the Emperor with all this Indomitus Crusade and Ultramarian Reclamation business (there’s a whole thing about Roboute potentially doing something similar during the Horus Heresy when it looked like Chaos might win). Alternatively, Arbitor Ian suggests the Lion will reveal some new threat that becomes central to the plot of the next Warhammer 40,000 campaign book, perhaps to do with would-be fifth Chaos god Vashtorr the Arkifane.

Whatever Games Workshop has up its sleeve, it looks like we’re set for some answers over the next few months. At least, that’s the hope. Fans have been waiting three years for the Lion and Guilliman to get together. If Games Workshop just sat on this tease for another few years, well… that would be very Games Workshop, wouldn’t it?

The Warhammer 40,000 story, such as it is, is a slow moving beast. The scribes at Games Workshop sometimes take years to inch the overarching plot forward. Tantalizing plot threads are left dangling, sometimes for decades. Answers remain frustratingly out of reach. Cliffhangers seem destined to hang in a perpetual state of anticipation, never to be fulfilled. Such is the nature of Games Workshop's grimdark 41st millennium, which has exploded in popularity over the last decade. At this point any news on how the story might actually move forward is analyzed to within an inch of its life, as if under investigation by the Inquisition itself.

How to Read the Dungeon Crawler Carl Books in Order

I have read more than my fair share of LitRPG books, but Dungeon Crawler Carl has been a contender for my overall favorite series since I first picked up book one. In short, it's an ongoing story about a man and his sassy cat's descent into the madness of an apocalyptic space game show. The author, Matt Dinniman, has a writing style that perfectly blends outrageousness with intrigue, making it hard to put down once you start reading.

There are a total of seven Dungeon Crawler Carl books that have been published so far, with an eighth book set to release in May 2026. All of the books are available to read with a Kindle Unlimited subscription, and as of September 2025, hardcover copies of all seven books are available for purchase.

What's the Best Way to Read Dungeon Crawler Carl?

I've read all of the Dungeon Crawler Carl books via a Kindle Unlimited subscription, which is what I'd recommend if you want to save as much money as possible. All of the books are included with a subscription, so you can burn through the full series fairly quickly without having to buy each individual title. If you prefer reading actual physical books, however, you can also buy hardcover copies of all seven books. A Parade of Horribles, the upcoming eighth book in the series, will be getting a physical release at the same time it comes out on Kindle, so you won't have to wait to pick up a copy like you did with the previous entries.

Alternatively, if you're a fan of audiobooks, the Dungeon Crawler Carl Audible editions come highly recommended. Voice actor Jeff Hayes does an incredible job portraying all of the different characters Matt Dinniman features in his books. You can listen to the first book for free by signing up for an Audible subscription.

The Future of Dungeon Crawler Carl

Matt Dinniman has stated that he expects to write 10 total entries in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. He indicated that this number may be flexible in a more recent interview, but this is the current plan. With an eighth book due out in May 2026, that leaves only two more books before the series comes to an end. In addition to the main series, there is also a graphic novel spin-off called Crocodile that's expected to arrive in March 2027 after a very successful crowd-funded campaign.

Outside of books and graphic novels, Dungeon Crawler Carl has been picked up by Universal International Studios and Seth McFarlane's Fuzzy Door to be adapted into a TV series. The Dungeon Crawler Carl TV series has not yet started development, so all we really know is that Chris Yost (known for Thor: Ragnarok and The Mandalorian) will be the one adapting the book.

Save Up to 30% Off the reMarkable 2 E-Ink Tablet with Digital Stylus and Folio During the New Years Sale

reMarkable is well regarded for its best-in-class digital notebooks and the reMarkable 2 tablet represents the best value by offering premium build quality and a sensational paper-writing experience for just $399, which is the lowest price in reMarkable's lineup. For even greater savings, you can pick up a refurbished tablet for a lower price of $319. Refurbished products come with the same 1 year warranty as buying new along with a 50-day satisfaction guarantee.

To kick off the new year, reMarkable is doing even one better: for a limited time, you can take an additional $70 off the reMarkable tablet when you bundle it with a marker and folio and that includes refurbished models. With the additional discount applied, you can get a refurbished reMarkable 2 bundled with the Marker and Book Folio ($130-$170 value) for as low as $369 with free delivery. That's 30% off compared to the retail price of the same bundle.

Up to 30% Off reMarkable 2 E-Ink Tablet Bundles

The reMarkable 2 is reMarkable's slimmest tablet, measuring less than 0.2 inches thin. The aluminum frame houses a 10.3" monochrome E-Ink display with a 1872x1404 resolution (226 dpi). The display is protected by an etched glass surface which does an excellent job of mimicking the texture of paper. Many users believe that it has a better feel than even the higher-end reMarkable Paper Pro, which has a harder, more friction-free surface.

The bundles include your choice of reMarkable's digital stylus - Marker or Marker Plus - and folio - Book Folio or Type Folio. The Marker is weighted to mimic the feel of a real pen and the tips provide the appropriate amount of friction to maintain the realism. The Marker Plus adds eraser functionality. The Book Folio is a magnetic book-like cover that protects your tablet even while it's being used. Choose the polymer weave for durability and easy maintenance or genuine leather for that premium look and feel. The Type Folio goes one step further by integrating a slim keyboard.

Why get a reMarkable tablet?

reMarkable's claim to fame is in its paper-writing experience and note-taking capabilities. reMarkable tablets do a superb job of mimicking the feel of pen on paper thanks to its combination of a textured glass surface and the soft felt-like tips of the digital stylus. But that's where the similarities end. Handwritten notes are accurately translated into typed text with a single tap. Unlike physical media, you'll never run out of paper and you'll be able to resize, undo, cut, copy, or create perfect lines and circles to your heart's content.

When you're done, reMarkable makes it easy to file your notes away in an efficient and legible manner. reMarkable tablets comes pre-loaded with a variety of lined and dotted templates, to-do lists, and weekly planners to keep your thoughts organized. Your finished notes can be sorted into separate folders and tagged for easy search queries. Your notes are saved in the cloud and accessible from other devices through reMarkable's mobile and desktop apps. Both locally stored and cloud files are encrypted, but you can also set up an optional passcode if you need more security.

Is the reMarkable 2 a good e-reader option?

Although reMarkable's digital notebooks are unsurpassed in their digital writing functionality, they're not really the best option if you're purely looking for a universally compatible digital reader. That's because you cannot easily view MOBI/AZW or DRM-protected EPUB content. That includes any eBooks available on Amazon Kindle as well as Libby, which is used by most public libraries. The reMarkable OS also doesn't support third party apps, so there's no way to download a Kindle or Libby app like you would on a standard tablet or mobile device. If you're looking strictly for an e-reader, then you're best off sticking with a Kindle tablet, Apple iPad, or your smartphone.

GameStop Closes Hundreds of Stores as CEO Eyes $35 Billion Payout

GameStop is closing hundreds of stores just days into the new year as CEO Ryan Cohen aims to take home $35 billion in performance-based stock options.

Reports the gaming and pop-culture retailer would soon close stores started to emerge soon after 2026 began. Some shoppers were able to find and share signage warning their location would soon shut down, offering a 20% trade-in bonus (for a limited time) as compensation.

Been going to this GameStop for over 12 years. Sad to see it go. All the best to the guys Jose, Nick and more. Check them out before they close on the 8th. This is the 18th av location in Bensonhurst Brooklyn. pic.twitter.com/hV8NxgESUO

— Brooklyn Games & Arcade (@ArcadeBrooklyn) January 3, 2026

“This store is closed effective 1/8/26,” a different sign posted to Reddit January 2, 2026, says. “Thank you for being a loyal GameStop customer.”

Signs then instruct customers with game or memorabilia reservations to travel to new stores to pick up their purchases, but the sudden nature and wide reports left GameStop buyers with more questions than answers. With reports of what seemed to be dozens of store closures online, a blog that tracks GameStop activity using employee reports and the company’s store locator claims to have recorded 390 store closures (via Polygon). An additional 10 stores are still in the process of being confirmed to have shut down, which, if accurate, brings the total to 400 shuttered GameStop locations a little more than one week into the year.

It’s another hit to GameStop’s physical presence in the gaming market, with a December 2025 filing from the company noting it had ceased operations at 590 locations in the U.S. in fiscal 2024. Now, the once-titan known for giving “power to the players” seems to be keeping with its future plans, too, with the same document saying it anticipated “closing a significant number of additional stores in fiscal 2025.” For the last ten years, GameStop has closed more stores than it has opened in the U.S. each year, with closures often numbering in the hundreds.

Meanwhile, GameStop announced earlier this week that Cohen, who took over as CEO in September 2023, is up to receive a staggering $35 billion in performance-based stock options. For Cohen to receive the payout, the company’s board of directors states GameStop would need to reach a market capitalization of $100 billion and, before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, achieve $10 billion in cumulative performance. GameStop’s market cap currently sits at about $9.5 billion.

“The award is designed to incentivize Mr. Cohen to achieve extraordinary growth,” the announcement says.

GameStop has looked to new, bizarre ways to gain traction in recent years as it continues to double down on collectibles and memes. August 2023 saw the company pull out of crypto, moving to shutter its short-lived NFT marketplace just a few months later. More recently (and much to the dismay of its employees), it held its first-ever Trade Anything Day, which saw customers bringing in literally anything for trade-in credit at their local stores. Earlier this week, The New Zealand Herald reported that GameStop’s EB Games branch had made a proposal to close its remaining stores in New Zealand.

The LEGO Lord of the Rings Book Nook Gets Its First Ever Discount at Amazon

LEGO launched a series of book nooks back in June 2025, but none of them had received any sort of discount until now. Amazon is currently offering the first deal on the LEGO Balrog Book Nook set, dropping the price by 10% for a limited time. This 1,201-piece diorama set depicts Gandalf facing off against the Balrog and is specifically targeted at adult builders.

There are currently only four LEGO Lord of the Rings sets available to buy in 2026 and discounts on them are extremely rare. If you're looking for a good LotR gift, I'd definitely recommend grabbing this while the savings are still available.

LEGO Lord of the Rings Book Nook Sale at Amazon Today

With the 10% discount on Amazon right now, this is the lowest price we've ever seen on the Balrog Book Nook since it was first released. The build itself is made up of 1,201 pieces and features a Gandalf minifigure as well as the larger Balrog. Once put together, the book nook sits at 8.5 inches high and is meant to be placed in between books on your shelf. The completed set depicts the iconic "You shall not pass!" scene from The Fellowship of the Ring movie. Those precise words are featured on a little plaque piece that adorns the front of the set. This is notable because while Gandalf says that phrase in the film, he actually says "you cannot pass" in Tolkien's original books.

We actually had the chance to build this set when it was first released and loved the unorthodox brick connectivity and the overall design. Despite a rather unfortunate position of this set making headlines last year, it's an overall fun build that looks great on any collector's shelf.

New Sets Just Released for 2026

If you're looking for something newer, LEGO has released a ton of new sets for January 2026. The list includes a new Back to the Future Delorean set, new Star Wars builds, and Stranger Things sets. You can also already preorder the first LEGO Star Wars bricks integrated with Smart Brick technology, but they don't release until March 2026.

The Lenovo Legion 7 RTX 5060 Gaming Laptop Boasts an Aluminum Chassis and OLED Display for $1235

Best Buy has a great deal on an affordable Lenovo Legion 7 laptop, but you better hurry because the sale ends tonight. For just a few more hours, you can pick up a Lenovo Legion 7 RTX 5060 gaming laptop for only $1234.99 after over $600 in savings. This is a high-end model with a full aluminum chassis, gorgeous OLED display, and a generous 32GB of DDR5 RAM. The RTX 5060 is unthrottled (115W TGP) will play any game out there without having to bust your budget.

Lenovo Legion Pro 7 RTX 5060 Gaming Laptop for $1,235

The Legion 7 is Lenovo's flagship laptop series, featuring a full aluminum (lid and chassis) construction and weighing in at a very reasonable 4.5 pounds. This particular system is also decked out in a rare "Glacier White" color scheme which, in my opinion, looks better than the standard black. It is configured with a 16" OLED display with 2.5K 189ppi resolution and 165Hz refresh rate, Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX CPU, 32GB of DDR5-5600MHz RAM, and 1TB SSD.

The RTX 5060 (mobile) is about 15%-20% more powerful than the RTX 4060 that it replaces and approaches the performance of the RTX 4070. It supports the newer DLSS 4 technology with multi-frame generation, which widens the performance gap in games that support it. It's a good GPU to pair with the 1600p display and should run most games at that resolution. With less demanding games like Fortnite, Minecraft, Roblox, Hades 2, or Silksong, you can expect very high framerates, but pulling off 60fps on Cyberpunk 2077 with require some tweaking in the settings.

Why Choose Lenovo?

Lenovo Legion gaming PCs and laptops generally feature better and more rugged build quality than what you'd find from most other mass produced brands. Lenovo generally does not throttle the GPU on any of its Legion models, which means you should expect maximum performance. Legion laptops are solidy built, with most models having either an aluminum lid or full metal chassis, include an OLED display option even on their budget models, and feature a great feeling keyboard. The current generation models are up to date with WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and Thunderbolt 4 ports as standard. Lenovo also offers excellent customer service; the warranty period is usually 1 year by default, but there's an option to extend it.

This Baseus 67W USB-C Charger Can Fast Charge Even the Most Power Hungry Gaming Handheld PCs

From portable gaming handhelds to smartphones, our lives rely on portable, untethered electronics, and it can't hurt to always have a charger on hand. Fortunately, they don't have to be expensive. Case in point, Amazon is currently offering a Baseus Picogo 67W USB Type-C wall charger for just $16.99 after you apply coupon code "T9TLS56H". This diminutive adapter has plenty of ports and enough power output to fast charge most portable electronics.

Baseus Picogo 67W USB-C Wall Charger for $16.99

The Baseus wall charger is very compact thanks to its use of gallium nitride (GaN) instead of the more common silicon for its semiconductor material. This makes the charger smaller, faster, and more energy-efficient than a traditional charger. The plug portion can also fold out of the way so that it doesn't get damaged during travel.

There are a total of three ports: two USB Type-C ports and one USB Type-A port each capable of 67W of power output. Note that the maximum output for all three ports is 67W as well, so if you used all three at time same time, you would pull about 22W per port. This throttling is actually a good thing; charging at 201W (67Wx3) would generate a ton of heat and you'd need a bigger, less portable enclosure to accommodate it.

The 67W power output per port is higher than what I typically see at this price point. It matches the charging output of the adapters that come packaged with even the most power hungry handheld gaming PCs like the Xbox Ally X, ROG Ally X, Legion Go S, and Legion Go 2. It can also easily charge the Steam Deck, which only takes 35W max. As for the Switch 2, you could charge three consoles simultaneously at their maximum rate (the Switch 2 only accepts about 20W max).

4-Pack of 10ft 100W USB Type-C Cables for $13.39

Must add BOTH of these cable packs to your cart and then apply code: "LUU2CPDS"

If you need some cables to go along with this charger, Amazon is offering a four-pack of Basesailor 10ft 100W USB Type-C cables for just $13.39. To get this deal you'll need to add both the two pack of gray cables and a two pack of purple cables to your cart and apply coupon code "LUU2CPDS" during checkout. You're paying just $3.35 per cable.

Everything You Need to Know About ESPN Unlimited

ESPN officially launched a new streaming service back in August 2025 that includes the full suite of ESPN Networks in one package. ESPN Unlimited is currently available as a standalone service or as a bundle with Disney+ and Hulu. If you're shopping around for sports streaming service during football season this year, we've gathered everything you need to know about ESPN Unlimited.

The first thing you need to know is that the previous ESPN streaming service, ESPN+, no longer exists. What was once ESPN+ has been replaced with the ESPN Select plan. So if you already had a subscription, this is what you've been moved over to and the content will pretty much be the same.

Does ESPN Unlimited Have a Free Trial?

ESPN Unlimited does not offer any sort of free trial. That being said, there is a way to test out the service for free. If you sign up for a Fubo free trial, you'll also get access to ESPN Unlimited. The trial only last for seven days, but it's a great option if you're looking to test out a live TV alternative to cable or just maintain access to ESPN during the YouTube TV blackout.

ESPN Unlimited Plans and Pricing

There are two new ESPN streaming services available: ESPN Unlimited and ESPN Select. ESPN Select is essentially a reskinned version of ESPN+ and doesn't feature any of the live ESPN channels. ESPN Unlimited is the version of the service that includes all of the ESPN networks and the content featured on ESPN Select.

Each of these services offer monthly or annual pricing, with a slight discount for those who choose the annual plan. Alongside the standalone service, there's also a Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN bundle that includes a discount as well as the option to add on an NFL+ Premium subscription for more football coverage. Here's a quick rundown of the pricing for each of these subscription plans:

ESPN Unlimited Channels

According to the original press release, ESPN Unlimited features access to all of ESPN's linear networks as well as 47,000 live events a year and original programming. That means you'll be able to stream NBA games that air on ABC via this service as well. Here's a full list of all of the channels available with a subscription:

Channel list

  • ESPN
  • ESPN2
  • ESPNU
  • ESPNNEWS
  • ESPN Deportes
  • SEC Network
  • ACC Network
  • ESPN on ABC
  • ESPN+
  • ESPN3
  • SECN+
  • ACCNX

In addition to these channels, ESPN also recently reached a deal with the NFL that will eventually bring NFL Network games to the service. In the meantime, you can choose to bundle your subscription with NFL+ Premium to get access to those games and NFL RedZone. This new option is ideal for anyone looking for a good streaming service for NFL games. There was also a new agreement reached with WWE that will bring WrestleMania to ESPN Unlimited sometime in 2026.

Where to Watch ESPN Unlimited - Available Platforms

ESPN Unlimited is integrated into the existing ESPN app, so you can pretty much watch from anywhere. For a mobile experience you can download the app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. It's also available on popular streaming devices such as Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku, and Android TV as well as major gaming consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Games Workshop Announces Plans to Build a New Warhammer World in the U.S.

Games Workshop has announced plans to build a new Warhammer World in the United States with a late 2027 target for opening its doors.

Warhammer World, in Nottingham, England, is the focal point for Games Workshop’s various tabletop games and a social hub for the hobby. It includes an exhibition centre with dramatic, large-scale dioramas featuring everything from famous battles in the grimdark sci-fi setting Warhammer 40,000 to the fantasy world of Age of Sigmar.

For competitors, a sizeable castle-themed gaming hall lets fans play matches, often in scheduled tournaments. There’s a themed bar and restaurant, areas to paint miniatures, and an in-house store with exclusive products.

In a post on Warhammer Community, Games Workshop confirmed its plans to start work on the new Warhammer World, to be built just outside Washington DC.

“This new Warhammer World will be a flagship venue that celebrates Warhammer in all its forms: gaming, painting, modelling, storytelling, events, and community,” Games Workshop said.

“The original Warhammer World in Nottingham, UK sets a very high bar. We’re not going to replicate it brick-for-brick, but instead build something equally uncompromising on quality and experience, something worthy of Warhammer’s rich settings and of course the title ‘Warhammer World.’ And of course, at the heart of all this is creating something extraordinary for all of you — the Warhammer fans!

“Now, there’s a lot to do – but with a fair wind, and the might of the Emperor and his inexhaustible armies, we hope to open the doors late in 2027.”

With this new Warhammer World, Games Workshop is clearly hoping to reinforce its explosive success and the ever-increasing popularity of Warhammer 40,000 in particular, which in recent years has grown far beyond the confines of a tabletop game. Its loyal fandom fusses over lore, analyzes new novels for fresh insight into the setting, and speculates about future development. The smash hit video game Space Marine 2 boosted interest in all things Warhammer 40,000 — so much so that playable character Titus is now the poster boy of the tabletop game and is even at the heart of its next narrative expansion. And former Superman actor Henry Cavill’s upcoming Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe for Amazon will undoubtedly take it to new heights. It makes a lot of sense to have a Warhammer World in place to capitalize on the army of newcomers Cavill’s Prime Video work will surely rally together. (Cavill once visited Warhammer World in the UK and posted a video of his tour on Instagram.)

In the shorter term, Warhammer 40,000 fans are bracing themselves for an announcement and release of the 11th Edition of the game, accompanying lore developments, and new model releases. And we’re arguably in the golden age of Warhammer 40,000 video games, with Space Marine 2 still receiving updates, Space Marine 3 in the works, and Dawn of War 4 and Total War: Warhammer 40,000 waiting in the wings.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 – Part 1, Episodes 1 & 2 Review

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 is streaming on Crunchyroll, with episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays.

The Culling Game arc in Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga swings on a heavy pendulum, back and forth from drawn-out battles and tedious explanations of its world’s rules to some of its best, most creative chapters across the entire story. For me, from this point until the end, Jujutsu Kaisen was a frustratingly jagged read, and I had reservations that the on-page material would be too wily to make good anime. Then again, one of the advantages of the medium is being able to whittle a story into something newly transmittable, and studio MAPPA once again confidently asserts its grasp and vision of bringing its source material to life in the first two episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen’s Culling Game Part 1. Though there’s still plenty of time to get lost in the sauce, the smart pacing, direction that seems to actively subvert anything that could be easily clipped on TikTok, and sharp animation up top sure all have me hopeful that we’re headed in the right direction.

Off the bat in the first episode “Execution,” the wordless prologue takes a tonal swing in resetting Jujutsu Kaisen after the bloodbath of the Shibuya Incident in Season 2. It opens on our main boy Yuji Itadori, still traumatized from the utter devastation Sukuna caused from his bodily takeover, seemingly alone, living off of energy bars and cleaning up the apocalyptically sparse neighborhood from an influx of cursed spirits. That is until he’s nabbed by an especially big one before being saved by a mysterious slice that crashes him and the spirit through the roof of a building.

Cut to Itadori pinned on his back at sword point by Yuta Okkutsu (watch the movie Jujustu Kaisen 0 if you need a refresher on what that guy’s deal is) on a stage in a transfixing wide shot so long that I almost thought my internet had sputtered had it not been for the specks of gleaming light. That’s interrupted by a deluge of purple blood and a cut to the title sequence – a bop as always, even if it’s not quite the series’ undefeated “Vivid Vice” opening. Just these three-and-a-half minutes are stuffed with bold cinematic choices that hint at how much of the rest of the runtime across 50-ish minutes will go: kinetic and cleverly choreographed battle sequences halt into still moments that let the whole thing – the characters, the sets, the viewers – breathe a bit.

Not long after, we’re plunged into the first new bits of world lore – the Zen’in clan appoints a new head, done in a highly stylized and shadowy back room – which made me nervous before it all played out. The Culling Game Arc will certainly balloon its cast with brand-new characters, jujutsu sorcerers who have just acquired new powers, to make up for all the ones lost in Shibuya. But these episodes show remarkable restraint, keeping the core cast small and story relatively tight before it inevitably lets out the leash.

If the rest of the season can keep up with this momentum, the Culling Game anime could transform a tricky manga arc into a thrilling televised take that’s been downsized for the better.

The show obviously respects the beats of the manga it’s based on and knows how to use just enough explanatory information as is necessary, while holding more space for the darker emotional spots that color this end-game setup and, of course, very sick fights. (Alas, say farewell to most of the joke-y bits from the first season, especially with Gojo Satoru still trapped in that damn Prison Realm box.) Look no further than introducing the rules of the Culling Game itself: In the last third of the second episode “One More Time,” a not-insignificant chunk of text is plastered on the screen, but the cards don’t linger long enough to read it all, instead quickly flashing to key words and phrases. “Blah, blah, blah, you get the gist,” they’re basically saying, “we’ll explain soon.” Lo and behold, Episode 3 is titled “About the Culling Game”; prepare for a talk-y breakdown about what to expect for the rest of the season.

Once again, I’ll mention the fights since badass combat is JJK’s bread and butter, and they’ve truly never looked better than they have here. Unlike the back half of the Shibuya Incident arc, each of these sequences are carefully executed and unrushed, set to JJK’s distinctive synth-y battle score. Whether it’s Yuji and Choso cleaning up the streets in “Execution,” with flashy colors and outstanding cinematography, or Choso vs. Naoya Zen’in, the jerk of a new clan head, with its trippy visualization messing with frame rates and color inversion, the fights shine. If the rest of the season can keep up with this momentum, Jujutsu Kaisen’s Culling Game anime could transform a tricky manga arc into a thrilling televised take that’s been downsized for the better.

The iBuypower RTX 5070 Gaming PC Drops to $1350 for Today Only at Best Buy

For today only, Best Buy is offering an iBuypower Element RTX 5070 gaming PC for just $1,349.99 with free shipping or in-store pickup. It's paired with an Intel Core Ultra 7 CPU and 32GB of DDR5 RAM. The RTX 5070 is an excellent choice for gaming at 1080p or 1440p, and is even an affordable option for 4K, especially with DLSS4.

iBuypower Element RTX 5070 Gaming PC for $1,349.99

The iBuypower Element gaming PC is equipped with an Intel Core 7 265F processor, GeForce RTX 5070 12GB 2graphics card, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 2TB M.2 SSD. he Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU is a 20-core processor with a max boost clock of 5.3GHz. It's a solid general-purpose CPU that combines a high clock speed for games and plenty of cores for for multi-core performance. For games at least, you won't see any improvement upgrading to a Core Ultra 9.

The GeForce RTX 5070 GPU is an excellent choice for 1080p or 1440p gaming

Compared to the previous generation GPUs, the RTX 5070 offers a slight performance improvement over the RTX 4070 Super, which was and still is an excellent GPU. The fps gain is much greater in games that support DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation. At this price point, a prebuilt gaming PC is more likely to be equipped with an RTX 5060 or RTX 5060 Ti GPU, and the RTX 5070 is considerably more powerful than either. This is the best GPU for 1080p or 1440 gaming without overspending. It is fully capable of running non-demanding games at 4K resolution as well. The next card up - the RTX 5070 Ti - is significantly more expensive and really for gamers who want high fps 1440p or high-demand 4K gaming. Check out our GeForce RTX 5070 review for our hands-on impression and benchmarks.

HP's All-in-One Plan Leases You a Printer and Unlimited Ink for a Low Monthly Price

If you're in need of at-home printing but you don't want to deal with the upfront cost of buying a printer or the hassle of purchasing ink cartridges when they run out, then HP is offering a plan that might be perfect for you.

HP's All-in-One Plan is a convenient service that leases you a printer for a low monthly fee. Along with the printer, you get an unlimited supply of ink, continuous warranty coverage, and a monthy allotment of prints. There are several plans to choose from, with each offering a different printer and print allotment depending on your needs.

The four recommended plan tiers are as follows:

  • Basic - HP Envy inkjet printer with 20 pages of printing for $7.99/mo
  • Versatile - HP Envy Photo inkjet printer with 20 pages of printing for $9.99/mo
  • High-Volume - HP Smart Tank all-in-one printer with 100 pages of printing for $12.99/mo
  • Professional - HP OfficeJet Pro all-in-one printer with 50 pages of printing for $14.99/mo

The "High Volume" plan is marketed as the best value. It includes the HP Smart Tank 7602 all-in-one printer (retails for $470) and up to 100 pages of monthly printing. At $12.99 per month, it's not much more expensive than the "Basic" and "Versatile" plans, which come with a lower-end printer (with no all-in-one capabilities) and significantly less pages of printing per month. The one caveat is that it requires a three year commitment compared to two years for the other plans. Fortunately, HP offers a 30-day trial period during which you can test out the service with the freedom to opt out.

Is the HP All-in-One Plan worth it?

The big question is whether or not HP's All-in-One Plan is worth it in the first place. We can first break this out monetarily. The "High Volume" plan will run you $12.99 per month for 3 years, or a grand total of $467.64. As mentioned above, the printer you get retails for $469.99. That's about the same cost, but there are other factors to consider.

By buying the printer outright, you could probably find a discount. For example, it's currently on sale at Amazon for $349.99, saving you $120 right off the bat. Also, after 3 years, you'll still own the printer so that you can use it for many years after. If you subscribe to the plan, then you're out of a printer after 3 years unless you re-enroll.

However, by signing up for the plan, you avoid having to pay $400+ instantly, which is replaced by a more manageable monthly fee. You also essentially get three years of warranty service, as opposed to just one year if you bought the printer outright. You don't need to pay for ink during the life of the subscription. This is important because ink refills can get pricey very quickly to the point where it's often cheaper to just buy a new printer.

All things considered, it really depends on your situation. If you can justify the upfront cost, you plan to keep the same printer for more than three years, and you feel comfortable enough sourcing cheaper third-party ink, then just buy your own printer. If you'd rather stick with the convenience of letting HP worry about the printer along with its refills and maintenance, and you know that you can stay within tothe monthly printing allotment, then it's worth checking it out.

Audible Kicks Off its First Sale of the Year, Get Premium Plus for Just $0.99 Per Month

Audible's first sale of 2026 is now live. Now through January 21, new and returning Audible subscribers can sign up for three months of Audible Premium Plus for just $0.99 per month, or £0.99 in the UK. This time around it doesn't look like you need to be an Amazon Prime member either. After the three months is up, your subscription will convert to the standard $14.95/mo, so make sure to cancel beforehand if you don't want to continue with the service. You also get a free audiobook of your choice for each of those three months that you get to keep indefinitely.

Note that if you recently signed up for an Audible Premium Plus promotion, you may not be eligible even if your subscription has ended. There's usually a wait period (about 3-6 months) before you are re-eligible.

3 Free Months of Audible Premium Plus

Audible is a subscription service that gives you access to hundreds of thousands of the best audiobooks without ever having to purchase them. There are two paid membership plans: the lower tier Audible Plus ($7.95/mo) and the higher tier Audible Premium Plus ($14.95/mo). The biggest difference between the two is the size of the audiobook library. Whereas Audible Plus only lets you listen to a selection of about 10,000 audiobooks, the Audible Premium Plus plan gives you access to a whopping 500,000 audiobooks.

Premium Plus includes other perks as well. Every month Premium Plus members get to pick one audiobook to keep in their library indefinitely, even after the membership expires. Also, Premium Plus members can get 30% off any additional audiobooks they wish to purchase in addition to exclusive limited-time discounts.

If you were already planning to purchase a couple of audiobooks, then it makes more sense to pay less than $3 to get three audiobooks you get to keep indefinitely and enjoy all the benefits of Audible Premium Plus for three months. This deal only pops up a few times per year, so don't waste your "first-time subscriber" eligibility status on a short 30-day trial.

Catch up the the latest novel releases, audiobook style

Several best-selling new and recent releases are available in an audiobook format and part of Audible's Premium Plus subscription plan. Rebecca Yarros' The Empyrean Series romantasy novels have consistently hit the top of the New York Times' best seller list throughout all of 2025 and they're all available in audiobook format. Sunrise on the Reaping, the latest Hunger Games novel, is narrated by Jefferson White, who you may already know from Yellowstone where he played Jimmy Hudstrom. The audiobook has a listening time of about 12 hours and 48 minutes. Stephen King released his Never Flinch crime novel in May 27 and it's also available as a nearly 15-hour long audiobook narrated by veteran Jessie Mueller. If you're a fan of Brandon Sanderson, check out Wind and Truth, book five of the popular The Stormlight Archive series. It was released in December of 2024 and runs an epic 63 hours long.

HP Omen 16 Gaming PC with RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GPU Drops to $1,099.99 at Best Buy

If you're looking for a capable 1080p gaming PC for about $1,000, you can't do much better than this deal. For this week only, Best Buy has the HP Omen 16 gaming PC with RTX 5060 Ti 16GB graphics card for just $1,099.99 shipped. This prebuilt will be able to run games at 60fps+ framerate in 1080p and even 1440p thanks to the 16GB of VRAM.

HP Omen 16 Gaming PC with RTX 5060 Ti 16GB for $1,099.99

The HP Omen 16 is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5600MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU is a 20-core processor with a max boost clock of 5.3GHz. It's a solid general-purpose CPU that combines a high clock speed for games and plenty of cores for for multi-core performance. For games at least, you won't see any improvement upgrading to a Core Ultra 9.

The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is much better than the 8GB found in most other prebuilts

The RTX 5060 Ti graphics card comes in two variants, with the only difference between the two being the amount of VRAM: 8GB or 16GB. Unlike the vast majority of prebuilts which are equipped with the 8GB model, this particular system is equipped with the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB model. If you can afford it, you should only get the 16GB model. Numerous outlets have shown that the performance gap between the 8GB and 16GB models is huge.

The RTX 5060 Ti (16GB) is a great GPU for 1080p gaming. It outperforms the RTX 4060 Ti by about 20%, and the gap widens in games that support DLSS 4 technology with multi-frame generation. The 16GB of VRAM also allows this GPU to hold its own in 1440p gaming, especially if you don't want to spend the extra $200-$300 to upgrade to an RTX 5070.
