Horror director Mike Flanagan is once again linking up with iconic author Stephen King for a new movie adaptation of The Mist, reports Deadline.

Based on King’s 1980 sci fi horror novella, first published in a Viking Press horror anthology in 1980, The Mist is the story of a group of survivors stuck in small-town Maine by a thick fog that’s enveloped the whole area, which conceals deadly creatures. The Mist was nominated for a number of literary awards at the time and is typically considered amongst King’s most well-regarded works. Flanagan is on deck to direct, and will write the screenplay.

The Mist was previously adapted into a movie back in 2007, starring Thomas Jane and directed by Frank Darabont, who had previously directed 1994’s The Shawshank Redemption and 1999’s The Green Mile (which were also based on Stephen King stories). It was also adapted into a short-lived, 10-episode TV series in 2017, though it was cancelled the same year it aired.

This new adaptation will join a lengthy list of existing King collaborations for Flanagan, including 2017’s Gerald’s Game, 2019’s Doctor Sleep (the sequel to The Shining), and 2024’s The Life of Chuck. Flanagan is also working on an eight-episode TV adaptation of Carrie for Prime Video. King’s first published novel, Carrie has previously been adapted into film on three separate occasions.

Flanagan is also currently leading a new Exorcist movie project, which Scarlett Johansson joined late last year.

Samsung announced its annual Unpacked event will take place on Wednesday, February 25 in San Francisco, where the company will be unveiling its next-generation S-series phones.

Now, Samsung hasn't come out and said exactly which phones will be announced, but it didn't leave much to the imagination. The company said the "new Galaxy S Series is coming," which sure makes it seem like it will be the usual affair of the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra.

There will likely be one or two extra devices making their way to the stage in San Francisco, so if you want to find out what reveals to expect and how to watch the event live, you can find out the details below.

How to Watch Samsung Galaxy Unpacked

If you want to watch along, Samsung will be streaming Unpacked live on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 10AM PT / 1PM ET on Samsung's website. IGN will also be covering the event from San Francisco, so be sure to stay tuned for our coverage.

What to Expect From Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2026

While this year's Unpacked event is happening a little later than it usually would be, it's still the one we would expect at the start of the year. So, you can expect the full lineup of non-foldable flagship phones: the Samsung Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra.

It's possible that Samsung also follows up on the Galaxy S25 Edge that came out in the middle of 2025, but leaks obtained by 9to5Google suggest that phone was a failure and will be quietly killed off. Still, it's always possible that Samsung comes out with another... experimental smartphone this year.

What is likely, though, is that Samsung will release new earbuds. After all, the Galaxy Buds 3 came out in 2024, and there were some design leaks that came out late last year via Android Authority. However, it's important to note that the Galaxy Buds 3 were revealed at Samsung's summer event, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 – so we might have to wait a few months for the new earbuds.

Either way, it's only a few weeks before Unpacked 2026, so we don't have to wait long to see what the company has in store.

When this launched, I must confess that my first thought was, “Well, this is barely a game right here.” The Sims seemed more like a virtual fish tank that was only fun if I kept concocting new (and worryingly sociopathic) ways to torment the virtual peoples in my employ. These promotions are always a great time to pick up a sweet little movie gift for yourself or your loved ones, and this version of the sale has particularly great options for the Disney fan in your life.

There are a bunch of 4K Disney and Pixar movies eligible for the deal, including some of the newest releases. I've rounded up the full list of Disney offerings here, but you can also mix and match these movies with any other inclusions in the sale and still receive the special discount. There's a healthy mix of books, Blu-rays, anime, and even board games to choose from.

Although this list of eligible Disney movies in this sale is pretty Pixar heavy, there are still a few animated gems in here. Upcoming Disney 4K Releases

Cold Storage will be released in theaters on Feb. 13.

For those who have enjoyed certain types of horror-comedy hybrid films through the years, there’s something comforting about Cold Storage from the start. On-screen text at the opening, which turns an ominous backstory about the remnants of the Skylab space station and what it actually brought down to Earth into a purposely jokey over-the-top display, makes it clear that there’s a “we’re having fun here!” approach.

That tone continues in the film’s prologue, as an investigation into ghastly deaths in a tiny Australian town caused by a piece of Skylab evokes 1990’s wonderful Tremors, both with its desert setting and its heightened, funny tone accompanying its horror movie scenario. It’s not full farce or self-parody, but it’s winking just enough, buoyed by some clever visuals from director Jonny Campbell, particularly when it comes to depicting what happens to the oh-so-dangerous fungus discovered at the scene and the passage of time that follows.

Cold Storage loses some momentum after its great opening, feeling more hit and miss comedically as we pick up 18 years later, when two employees at a 24-hour self-storage warehouse – Travis (Joe Keery) and Naomi (Georgina Campbell) – come into contact with this fungus. The substance has been secretly sitting in hidden levels underneath them; their place of work just so happened to once house a military base. The specific horror-comedy vibe the filmmakers are going for is a tricky one to maintain, and there are beats that don’t quite hit the mark as we get to know Travis, Naomi, and a few other characters that will be significant over the long night they’re about to endure.

Still, there’s a lot to appreciate throughout, starting with the film’s leads. Stranger Things fan favorite Keery and Barbarian star Campbell make for an appealing central duo, with the proper amount of charisma and chemistry to sell the bantering ‘opposites attract’ dynamic between Travis the ex-con and Naomi the aspiring veterinarian. They also have one hell of a pivotal third major player in the form of Liam Freaking Neeson as Robert Quinn, a now retired military veteran we first meet in the prologue.

Robert gets a heads-up that things are going awry at the storage warehouse and goes to help, even as Travis and Naomi begin to find out just how much trouble they’re in. Again, this film’s tone doesn’t require Neeson to go full Naked Gun as far as sending up his tough guy image to an extreme level, but it does let him show different, gently funny and humanizing sides to his usual action persona, including the fact that Robert has quite a bad back from a previous injury. Yes, this is something begging to be significant in the third act, and thankfully, the film pays it off in a very entertaining manner.

Cold Storage is produced and written by David Koepp, adapting his own novel. Koepp has an interesting Hollywood career; he’s a go-to screenwriter for massive studio movies from franchises like Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible, Spider-Man, and Indiana Jones, but in between those sorts of films, he’s also frequently writing (and sometimes directing) smaller, quirkier projects. And while some of them have been misfires, there have been some notable highlights there as well, including 1999’s compelling ghost story, Stir of Echoes, and last year’s terrific Steven Soderbergh-directed spy film, Black Bag.

Cold Storage finds Koepp operating outside his usual style with something much more heightened and winky. This is a movie about a fungal outbreak that turns those it infects into zombie-like creatures; it’s also about the long locked up remnants of a previous outbreak accidentally being unleashed, leaving some out-of-their-depth average-joe employees to deal with it. So if there was a shorthand I’d use for this movie, it would be “The Last of Us meets The Return of the Living Dead,” and in that regard, while it doesn’t match either of those projects at their best, it’s still quite fun in its own right.

Koepp and Jonny Campbell add some nice flourishes that keep the film from feeling like a carbon copy of other zombie-adjacent stories (though there are plenty of familiar elements, of course), including the fact that those infected will eventually just plain explode out of nowhere. That allows for moments that are both surprising and jolting, and also darkly funny and plenty gory.

In the midst of all this, subplots involve an elderly woman (Vanessa Redgrave, reuniting with her Mission: Impossible screenwriter Koepp 30 years later) coming to the storage place intending to kill herself with a gun; Naomi’s ex showing up after a household accident, also carrying a gun; and an inside job plan by Travis and Naomi’s boss to rob the storage place that night. Is it pretty silly that all of these things happen to be going down at this isolated location on the very same night as a potentially world-ending outbreak is simultaneously beginning beneath their feet? Sure, but the jokey, easygoing tone of the movie allows you to let it slide more than you might otherwise.

Still, there are times where Cold Storage falters. As a Prometheus apologist, I will say this movie really pushes things in terms of having multiple characters – including those who should definitely know better – lean in close to something clearly horrible and dangerous occurring in front of them. There’s also just a tiny bit more sentiment included near the very end than what feels right for the overall feel of the story. The movie’s budgetary constraints are also felt in some of the visual effect shots, which are not always the most convincing.

But TV veteran Jonny Campbell, whose credits include episodes of shows like Doctor Who and Westworld, frequently overcomes that budget obstacle with some stylistic shots that are less beholden to sell complete reality. This includes a great sequence showing how the fungus is passing between insects and animals, where the camera hurtles forward and visually leans into everything looking more like CGI animation rather than photorealism.

Lending solid support is Ellora Torchia (Midsommar) as a military analyst contacted by Neeson’s Robert who ends up being his Al Powell-like new buddy feeding him crucial info even though they’ve never met in person. There’s also a very likeable, endearing performance by Lesley Manville (Maleficent) as Robert’s old comrade-in-arms who also comes out of retirement to try to help save the day.

Magic: The Gathering just had its most financially successful year yet, Hasbro has announced. And it's largely thanks to its collaborations with other brands, via its Universes Beyond and Secret Lair releases.

In its earnings call today, Hasbro revealed that MTG revenue was up 59% year-over-year, in no small part thanks to the Avatar: The Last Airbender set last year, which is now the third highest-selling set in Magic history after Final Fantasy and Lord of the Rings. Other Universes Beyond sets, as well as Secret Lair, also had a hand in the success.

That 59% is a huge increase, and one that is responsible for Hasbro's overall numbers looking good. The company overall was up 14% year-over-year, almost entirely driven by 45% growth in the Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming segment (Monopoly Go! also helped a little). Its other segments, Consumer Products and Entertainment, both saw declines of 4% each.

The revenue-raising capabilities of Universes Beyond and Secret Lair are a helpful look for Hasbro's C-suite, which has found itself the target of a shareholder lawsuit on the very subject recently. The lawsuit alleges that Hasbro has mismanaged Magic: The Gathering by overprinting sets of cards, specifically Universes Beyond and Secret Lair, thereby devaluing existing cards. The complaint itself contains some pretty sharp accusations that the company's top brass have been holding such sets in reserve to deploy whenever the rest of the company is struggling.

In response, Hasbro has stated that such claims have "no merit," and has recently moved to dismiss a similar lawsuit with very similar accusations filed in 2024 by the West Palm Beach Firefighters' Pension Fund and City of Miami General Employees & Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust, on the basis that the complaint has been amended so significantly since it was originally filed that it is no longer related to the original issue.

Hasbro reached out to share the following updated statement on these lawsuits as pertains to its earnings today:

As we shared when you covered the matter in January, these claims have no merit. Our strategic plan for Magic was implemented, and the results underscore the strength of that strategy. As further reflected in our earnings results released this morning, Magic: The Gathering just completed its most successful year ever.

Magic: The Gathering's next set will be a Universes Beyond set for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, complete with commander deck, and will release on March 6.

An ongoing trend at Amazon is sales that let you pick from a long list of random things. In the week leading up to Valentine's Day, Amazon is going with the “Buy one, get one 50% off” approach. The sale includes a pretty wide spread of Blu-rays and box sets as well as books, board games, and, for whatever reason, a large selection of Annie’s mac and cheese.

You can scroll through the full sale here, but if you're looking for inspiration, one of the major highlights is the number of eligible anime Blu-rays and DVDs. With Crunchyroll hiking prices and a general crackdown on the, um, old-school methods of watching anime, physical media is becoming one of the best ways to guarantee a future rewatch. It’s also just a beautiful thing to be able to line up your favorite shows and movies along a shelf.

Amazon’s BOGO(ish) Sale Includes a Ridiculous Amount of Anime

To get the deal, in theory, you just have to add two eligible items to your cart, and Amazon will automatically discount the cheaper item by 50%. The discounts will only apply when you go to check out, and in my experience, can get a little funky with what's being discounted. For example, some of the Blu-rays I picked up got 25% discounts across the board instead of an even 50% on one DVD.

The sale also doesn’t limit you to a particular category, so you can get the discount through any combination of DVDs, books, and board games. As with any sale with this many options, I’d highly recommend just doing some scrolling and directly searching for anything that’s been on your physical media wishlist.

On the anime front, you’ll find classics like the 25th Anniversary Cowboy Bebop collection, a spread of DVDs from the original Pokemon show, and complete box sets for Death Note, Nana, and Yuri!!! on Ice. In terms of more recent releases, I'd recommend the Dan Da Dan Season 1 Collector's Edition, which includes a decent amount of random merch, as well as the most recent Bleach movie, Thousand Year Blood War Part 3, which just released on Blu-ray in January.

You’ll also find tons of anime movies, including Studio Ghibli releases like Grave of the Fireflies and Kiki’s Delivery Service as well as movies directed by Satoshi Kon and Mamoru Hosoda. There’s also a heck of a lot of Digimon.

The Sale Also Includes Some Solid Cartoon Collections

Amazon happens to take the easy route and include these in the list of "anime," but it's generally worth noting you'll also find a ton of western cartoons. You could theoretically go for the Avatar double-feature with both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra eligible for the deal. The full list also includes the complete collection of MTV’s Aeon Flux, Nickelodeon's Rugrats, and the original Transformers series, which was technically animated by Toei Animation over in Japan.

Wizards of the Coast has confirmed that it doesn't "currently" have plans to visit any magical schools besides its own Strixhaven in future sets, suggesting that a Harry Potter collaboration isn't in the cards for the moment.

This comes from a Reddit post from the official WOTC_CommunityTeam Reddit account in response to a thread on the Magic: The Gathering subreddit asking if WOTC might "touch the fire that is [Harry Potter]" in the future. The post was sparked by a slide from this morning's Hasbro earnings call, where the WOTC parent company talked about expanding its partnerships on IP such as Harry Potter, KPop Demon Hunters, Street Fighter, and Voltron.

In response, WOTC_CommunityTeam wrote, "The Magic Multiverse has its own school of Magic at Strixhaven with plenty of secrets still to explore. Our Universes Beyond roadmap currently doesn't have us visiting any others."

The reply does say "currently," meaning that a future Harry Potter collaboration may not be fully off the table for the future. The company has been printing more and more of its "Universes Beyond" collaborative sets in recent years (so many, it's now the subject of a lawsuit) as well as smaller "Secret Lair" sets for other collaborations. However, WOTC does plan these sets out pretty far in advance, often around three years or even as many as five in the case of Final Fantasy. That means we're unlikely to see Harry Potter make an appearance for at least a few years, if at all.

Widely popular as Harry Potter is, the post and subsequent community discussion on Reddit is overwhelmingly against Harry Potter being introduced into Magic due to author and creator J.K. Rowling's openly professed transphobic beliefs, as well as her large donations to anti-trans causes. In contrast, a fundraiser for Trans Lifeline run by popular Magic content channel Tolarian Community College just amassed over $600k in donations over three days. The game itself introduced its first canonically trans character, Alesha, Who Smiles at Death, way back in 2015 in a short story, and has since turned her into a pretty solid Commander card.

Before it was a multimedia empire, Masters of the Universe started life as an action figure line. It only makes sense that Mattel would be going all-out on new MotU toys as He-Man and his friends return to the big screen in 2026.

IGN can exclusively reveal new images of the new Masters of the Universe figures and role-playing toys ahead of their debut at New York Toy Fair 2026 this weekend. Get a closer look in the slideshow gallery below:

This new line of action figures is designed at a 5.5-inch scale, making them a smaller and more kid-friendly alternative to Mattel's collector-oriented Masters of the Universe figures. This initial "Masters of the Universe Core Kids Assortment" line will include He-Man, Skeletor, Teela, Beast-Man, and Skel-Knight figures. Each figure includes 14 points of articulation and is priced at $10.79

He-Man and Skeletor are also being featured in the "Masters of the Universe Kids Feature Assortment" line. Power Sword Slash He-Man and Havoc Staff Attack Skeletor are priced at $16.19.

Finally, there's the "Masters of the Universe Core Assortment" line, which focuses on accessory vehicles and role-playing toys. There's the Battle Cat Feature Action Figure ($21.59), the Roton Assault Vehicle ($37.79), the Skeletor Talking Mask Role Play toy ($21.59), and the obligatory Power Sword replica ($43.19).

All of these toys will be released in Spring 2026, with the official global retail launch date for the Master of the Universe movie line being April 25.

Mewgenics, the cat-breeding tactics roguelike from the developer of The Binding of Isaac, has hit the ground running to say the least. It’s already made back the cost of its roughly seven-year development, blew past internal sales expectations, and is currently approaching the highest peak concurrent player count of Isaac itself – and it only launched today at 6am PT.

“So far this is beating expectations by quite a lot,” developer Tyler Glaiel tells IGN, saying it likely took less than three hours for development costs to be fully recouped. “Its a bigger launch than any of the Isaac expansions already, and its only been a few hours.”

His partner Edmund McMillen, best known for games like Isaac and Super Meat Boy, put just how wide of a gap that is into a perspective: “I think the highest sales day for any game of mine, release-wise, was [The Binding of Isaac:] Rebirth, and it sold 40,000 units I think day one.” By comparison, McMillen says Mewgenics sold around 152,000 copies in its first five-and-a-half hours. “Isn't that kind of insane?”

Mewgenics is also sitting at more than 63,000 concurrent players on Steam at time of writing, creeping steadily towards Rebirth’s all-time peak of 70,701. “We knew the game was good and would do good,” Glaiel says, “but Isaac is *HUGE* so we thought it was unlikely to beat that.” There are also almost 85k people watching it on Twitch – one of which is McMillen himself, who says he’s enjoying watching Northernlion be so immediately good at it.

The critical reception for Mewgenics has been glowing as well, currently sitting at an 89 on sites like Metacritic and 96% positive user reviews on Steam (with roughly 1,700 in at the moment). IGN’s own Mewgenics review gave it a 9/10, saying it’s “a fantastic tactical RPG that's good for more than a hundred hours of roguelike runs. Just when you think you have it figured out it'll throw something completely unexpected and hilariously gross at you – and probably a catchy new original song, too.”

When you have a series that's consistently gotten new games for almost 40 years, you have to think about how younger generations will be able to play them. That, and, of course, thinking about your bottom line, has led every publisher to lean more and more into multiplatform releases. On top of PC ports, Square Enix has released a decent amount of remasters and special editions of the Final Fantasy series specifically for Nintendo's handheld.

The Final Fantasy games hitting Switch isn't entirely unprecedented. The connection between Final Fantasy and Nintendo dates back to the series’ infancy, when the first game debuted on Nintendo's Famicom system in 1987. In fact, the first six mainline Final Fantasy games debuted on Nintendo platforms before Square Enix jumped to PlayStation as the series’ primary platform with Final Fantasy 7.

We've got a lot to look forward to on both Switch systems in 2026, including Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Switch 2. Below, we’ve compiled a complete list of Final Fantasy games available on the Nintendo Switch and what to expect next.

How Many Final Fantasy Games Are Available on Switch?

There are 22 Final Fantasy games you can play on the Switch — 13 mainline games, one prequel, and eight spinoffs. These games have been split into two sections below: mainline games (ordered by original release date) and other games (ordered by Switch release date).

Every Mainline Final Fantasy Game on Switch and Switch 2

Final Fantasy 1–6 Pixel Remaster

The first six Final Fantasy games are all available on Switch as part of Square Enix’s Pixel Remaster collection. Each game has been overhauled with new graphics, rearranged soundtracks, updated UIs, and new galleries for players to explore the creatures, illustrations, and music from all six games. If you're interested in diving into the original Final Fantasy experience, this is the best way to do it.

The Pixel Remasters are available individually ($12–18 USD/each) or as part of the six-game Final Fantasy I–VI bundle ($75 USD). If you're looking at the games individually, I'd recommend FF6, as it has one of the more immersive storylines.

Final Fantasy 7

One of the series’ most beloved games, Final Fantasy VII, is also available on Switch. This is not a remastered version of the game but rather a port of the 1997 original with three extra features: a 3x speed mode, the ability to turn battle encounters off, and a battle enhancement mode to make encounters easier. While the newer remasters, Remake and Rebirth, introduce modern action RPG mechanics to Cloud Strife's battle against Sephiroth, the Switch edition of FFVII is one of the best opportunities to experience what made the original PlayStation game so impactful.

Final Fantasy 8 Remastered

The series’ next entry is also available on Switch as Final Fantasy VIII Remastered. This updated version was released in 2019, 20 years after FF8 originally debuted on PlayStation. Additions to the remastered version include a 3x speed mode, the ability to turn off random encounters, and battle assist options to lessen the difficulty of combat.

Final Fantasy 9

Final Fantasy IX on Switch, like FFVII before it, is a port of the original RPG, which, despite not being quite as "famous" as Final Fantasy VII, is considered to have one of the best storylines in the series. The Switch version includes a few extras compared to the 2000 original, including high-speed and no-encounter modes, an autosave feature, and HD cutscenes and character models.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is a bundle of Final Fantasy X and its sequel X-2 (the series’ first-ever direct sequel). The two games feature over 100 hours of RPG content, according to IGN sister site How Long to Beat, and include upgraded graphics and reworked audio (with the ability to switch back and forth between the new and original sounds).

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

Skipping the now-shuttered MMORPG Final Fantasy XI, the series’ next mainline game available on Switch is Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age. The Zodiac Age, a remaster of the 2006 original, features HD graphics and a re-recorded soundtrack, as well as the Zodiac Job System, an increased battle tempo, an optional high-speed mode, and autosave functionality.

Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition HD

Final Fantasy XIII and XIV: Online are not available on Switch, which brings us to Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD. It’s the latest mainline game available on the platform, as FFXVI is still only available on PS5 and PC.

Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition HD is an abridged version of the original game with cartoonish character models, simplified combat, a reduced skill tree, and fewer side quests. Pocket Edition HD does, however, retain the full FFXV story, boys on the road and all.

Final Fantasy VII: Remake Intergrade (2026)*

We have officially entered the 'only on Switch 2' section of this list. In this case, that has nothing to do with the game being Switch 2-exclusive. Rather, the increased power of the Switch 2 console has allowed for some heftier ports, including Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. We specifically re-reviewed this game when it launched on the Nintendo console, acknowledging that while you're limited to 30fps, it "checks pretty much every box you could ask for from a portable version."

World of Final Fantasy Maxima (2018)

World of Final Fantasy Maxima, co-developed by Square Enix and prolific Japanese developer Tose, came to Switch with new content and the subtitle ‘Maxima’ two years after it was first released on PS4 and Vita. It’s an accessible RPG aimed at younger audiences that combines the series' Active Time Battle system with the ability to capture Mirages (i.e., creatures) to use in battle.

Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy! (2019)

Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy! is a remastered version of the 2007 Wii game Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon. This Final Fantasy spinoff is a turn-based RPG with randomly generated dungeons and a buddy system that allows players to bring other creatures or characters along for the dungeon-crawling chaos.

Collection of Mana (2019)

This collection of three Mana games is on this list due to its inclusion of the 1991 Game Boy game Final Fantasy Adventure. Despite beginning as a Final Fantasy spinoff, the Mana series dropped those ties with the release of its second game, Secret of Mana, and has since remained an independent franchise.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition (2020)

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition is an enhanced version of the 2004 RPG/dungeon crawler originally released for GameCube. Crystal Chronicles for Switch features a cute aesthetic, online co-op, and the addition of English voiceover for the first time. It’s a graphical improvement upon the original that also added new areas, monsters, weapons, and a higher-difficulty option.

Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend (2020)

Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend compiles three Game Boy games: Final Fantasy Legend I–III. We’ve included these games in service to creating a comprehensive list, though these are only Final Fantasy games in name; the SaGa games belong to an independent franchise of RPGs inspired by but not necessarily connected to Final Fantasy. The first three SaGa games were given the Final Fantasy name to capitalize on the brand recognition with western audiences.

The collection adds a high-speed mode and Switch-specific enhancements like adjustable screen magnification and the ability to play with your Switch oriented vertically (when in handheld mode, with Joy-Cons detached).

Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion (2022)

A prequel to Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion is a remastered version of the 2007 PSP RPG. The game stars a young warrior named Zack Fair, whose connection to Cloud and FFVII is revealed throughout the story. Reunion features remastered graphics, new character and background models, fully voiced dialogue, a newly arranged soundtrack, and a refined battle system.

Theatrhythm Final Bar Line (2023)

A rhythm game that celebrates the music of Final Fantasy, Theatrhythm Final Bar Line launched with 385 tracks from across the Final Fantasy series, though that has since grown to include music from other Square franchises for a total of 505 tracks. The Final Fantasy music pulls from 46 games, according to Squre, including FFI–XV. Theatrhythm Final Bar Line features over 100 characters and online multiplayer support for up to 8 players.

Chocobo GP (2023)

Chocobo GP is a Final Fantasy-themed kart racer developed by Arika (Tetris 99). While there are better kart racers available on Switch, Chocobo GP is a fun respite from the more involved RPGs that make up the majority of the Final Fantasy franchise. Like other kart racers, it features time challenges, tournament-style races, and options for multiplayer racing.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles (2025)

A remake of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles recently came to PS5 and Switch with enhanced graphics, voiced dialogue, and various quality of life improvements over the original PS1 game. Ronny Barrier's review for IGN says the remake of the tactical RPG removes "the cruft of Final Fantasy Tactics while surfacing what made it special through smart UI tweaks, convenience features, and excellent new voice acting."

Upcoming Final Fantasy Games on Nintendo Switch

Square Enix has confirmed that all of the Final Fantasy VII remakes will be making their way to the Nintendo Switch 2 over time. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Integrade released on the Switch on January 22, 2026, and will be followed by the Switch 2 release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on June 3.

Unfortunately, we still have no word on a release date for the third and final part of the remake, but with ongoing trends, there's a chance it comes to Switch 2 at launch.

Magic: The Gathering is months away from its Marvel Super Heroes set, but you can preorder it right now. Better yet, it’s already seeing a discount at Amazon.

Amazon’s Spider-Noir show has narrowed its 2026 release window, while revealing it will feature an appearance by Flint Marko, a.k.a. Sandman, alongside a few other familiar faces.

New details on the live-action Spider-Verse spinoff series come from Esquire, which spoke with showrunner Oren Uziel, producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and star Nicolas Cage to learn more about how it blends black-and-white and color to tell a new Spider-Man story. It comes with an updated schedule that will see the show premiere this spring on MGM+ and Prime Video, while unveiling more information about some of its major characters.

While Cage’s time as Ben Reilly/The Spider will see him investigating assassination attempts against Marvel Comics villain Silvermane (played by Brendan Gleeson), a few other notable Spider-Man regulars will show up, too. One surprise appearance will see Flint Marko (played by Jack Huston) play a role as “hired muscle,” though it’s unclear if he’ll sport the powers that earned him his Sandman title. Femme fatale Cat Hardy/Black Cat (played by Li Jun Li) is another familiar name viewers can expect to see entangled in Spider-Noir’s story.

“In all the great detective stories, you have two cases that sort of come together and you realize you're actually working the same thing,” Uziel teases. “He’s a guy getting dragged into a much larger fight that he doesn't really want to be a part of. Silvermane is the big bad, but what's happening to Silvermane connects back to Ben's past and gets him spiraling deeper and deeper into his own origins.”

Cage brought black-and-white mystery and comedic relief when he played Spider-Man Noir in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. It sounds like some of that portrayal will be retained in Spider-Noir, with the Pig and Raising Arizona actor teasing that his character is “70 percent Humphrey Bogart, and 30 percent Bugs Bunny.”

Meanwhile, Lord says Cage told them his version of the character is like “‘a spider trying to cosplay as a human.’”

“That's why you cast Nicolas Cage,” Miller added. “He's going to come at a character in a way that no one else would think of.”

Spider-Noir will swing onto Prime Video within the next few months but has no specific release date. It will also feature Lamorne Morris as freelance journalist Robbie Robertson and Karen Rodriguez as Ben Reilly’s secretary, Janet. New footage from CCXP25 revealed a sneak peek at the show ahead of its premiere.

Mattel's classic Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars toy line was one of the first options for Marvel collectors who craved action figures of their favorite Marvel heroes, and Hasbro is continuing to tap into the enduring nostalgia for that line in 2026. The company revealed a second wave of Secret Wars figures that will come packaged on retro-style cardbacks.

Along with the new wave of Secret Wars figures, Hasbro also showed off a two-pack of figures inspired by the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, multiple '90s-themed X-Men figures, and the latest addition to their collector-oriented Marvel Legends Maximum Series. As with the first wave, this batch of Secret Wars figures focuses mainly on characters who featured in the original Mattel toyline and/or the Secret Wars comic. This wave includes Spider-Man (Alien Costume), Daredevil, Falcon, Magik, Constrictor, and Absorbing Man. These figures are priced at $27.99 each and will be released in Spring 2026.

Hasbro revealed a pair of new two-pack sets, one of which being the aforementioned Born Again-style Bullseye and Muse set and the other a Black Widow/Quicksilver set inspired by the early '00s Avengers comics. Each pack is priced at $55.99 and will be released in Spring 2026.

On the X-Men front, iconic '90s villain Onslaught is getting a new figure with appropriate vintage packaging, and Archangel also gets a new deluxe release with plenty of accessories. Each figure is priced at $39.99, with Archangel releasing in Spring 2026 and Onslaught in Fall 2026.

Finally, Thor is joining Hasbro's Marvel Legends Maximum Series, which focuses on more high-end releases with added accessories. This particular Thor figure depicts the Odinson in his Olivier Coipel-designed csotume from the late '00s, which should palease the many colelctors who were clamoring for a new version of that particular look.

Maximum Thor is priced at $55.99 and will be released in Spring 2026.

The newly-rebranded Overwatch just benefited from its best weekend player count "in over a year" across all platforms, developer Blizzard has said, as the game's new Season 1 officially goes live today.

Players have flocked back to Overwatch following last week's big Spotlight reveal event that confirmed the sequel was ditching its "2", adding a host of new heroes, and telling a fresh interconnected narrative over the next year.

An early access launch for new hero Anran also helped draw players in, while the company has quickly addressed calls from fans and the game's English-language voice actress for tweaks to the character's design.

As reported earlier this week, Overwatch had a particularly strong weekend on Steam — where the game recorded its best player count since launch. Last week's announcements continued with confirmation of an upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 port of the game, scheduled for release sometime within its new Season 2.

Overwatch Season 1 — February 10

● Five New Heroes at Launch: Jump in to experience five new heroes right now, with five more coming throughout 2026 (one per season).

Later this summer, Season 4 drops yet another new hero and includes activity tied to BlizzCon and the Overwatch World Cup.

I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that mixtapes (or Spotify playlists now) were an important part of those crucial, formative teenage years. I'm also sure that I'm definitely not alone in the shared experience of putting together the perfect playlist to share with my friends or a significant other. Simply put, those playlists tell a story. And while the ones from my teenage years may seem like nothing more than whatever cool metalcore bands I was into and in at the time, te memories created from those long lost CD-Rs and iTunes playlists still stick with me years later.

The importance of music during that formative but extremely awkward time is how we expressed ourselves and built an identity. The subgenres and scenes were as important to me as anything during those teenage years playing in garage bands, getting sunburned at the Warped Tour, and sifting through thousands of MP3s on my beat-up laptop in order to build that week's lineup of songs.

In video game form, Mixtape does – at least so far – an excellent job at invoking the feeling of needing that perfect soundtrack for day-to-day life. From the start of the demo, I was skating in a picturesque northwestern town during golden hour while listening to Devo’s “That’s Good”. The vibe check was passed immediately when the protagonist, Stacey, breaks the fourth wall and explains the importance of good headphones and a good playlist. Mixtape’s presentation is a hybrid of a traditional point-and-click adventure similar to Life is Strange, mixed with abrupt but natural fourth-wall breaks for exposition and what the characters are feeling in that moment. While this isn't a new thing, very few games have managed to pull it off like Mixtape does, and it has yet to overstay its welcome.

From the few chapters I've played, Mixtape seems best described as a blend of a video game and a stylish TV show. The camera work and intentionally low frame rate animation on the characters lend a charm to it, and the dialogue, while a bit campy, never took me out of the moment. Stacey, Slater, and Cassandra are very much your typical teenage archetypes in the best way possible. While they weren't annoying or overbearing like some rebellious teen-fronted games tend to be, the trio are definitely written in an unrealistic way that works perfectly for the story Mixtape is trying to tell. It's obvious that these three are meant to be stereotypical in a way that evokes a feeling of nostalgia from the player. There were a few moments where I found myself saying “been there before,” and for a story that's clearly trying to invoke a specific feeling of anemoia (nostalgia for a time that never existed) with the player, it nails that.

Let's talk about Mixtape’s namesake. The music here, while not necessarily anything that would have landed on one of the thousands of CD-Rs I made as a teen, is outstanding. In the little bit of the campaign I played, the needle drops included a mix of songs ranging from Devo to Silverchair, which show the potential diversity of Mixtape's final soundtrack, and I'm glad the developers at Beethoven & Dinosaur didn't go with your run of the mill “safe” selection of hits from the ‘90s. It's obvious that the team is digging deep with the music selection in order to not only tell its story about music snobs hoping to craft the perfect mixtape in order to get a job as a music supervisor, but also tell the story about the final day of three teens' high school years.

Of course, vibes and music aren't everything when it comes to video games, and the gameplay is where Mixtape started to feel a little flat. While there were a few moments in the demo that required a bit more interactivity than finding something highlighted on screen, such as escaping from the police in a shopping cart, throwing toilet paper at Stacey’s principals house, and positioning Stacey and Slater into various poses in a photo booth, the select chapters I played felt like they were missing the welcome bit of interactivity that other point-and-click adventures offer. While the best moments had a decent amount of gameplay, a few chapters felt like I was watching a (very polished) interactive show rather than playing a video game. That being said, Mixtape's gameplay isn't necessarily the selling point here, because every time I found myself thinking about it, something cool would happen on screen, the needle would drop, and I would be pulled right back into Stacey Rockford's story.

After playing 30 minutes of Mixtape, I can clearly see the direction Beethoven & Dinosaur is looking to take with this ‘90s-set teenage adventure. The visuals are striking, its sense of nostalgia and warmth are unlike anything I've seen recently, and the needle drops definitely made me want to play more than what the demo allowed me. Is it going to be everyone's favorite thing? Probably not, but that's the fun of making the perfect mixtape, isn't it?

LEGO has a veritable tsunami of new sets releasing on March 1 — and apparently it’s still not done making announcements.
