Supply chain report corroborates iPhone 18 Pro variable aperture camera

Apple has long been rumored to be working on a significant improvement to the main iPhone camera in the form of a variable aperture lens. Some reports claimed that this would be introduced in the iPhone 17, but this of course didn’t happen.

Ming-Chi Kuo first reported plans to introduce the feature in the iPhone 18, and this has now been corroborated by a supply chain report which says that work is already underway on the new hardware …

Apple smart home hub reportedly marks shift in how new products are built as price target emerges

Still waiting for Apple’s first smart home hub with a screen? Mark Gurman at Bloomberg reports that the product is scheduled to arrive in spring 2026. Notably, manufacturing will take place in Vietnam and not China, where most first-gen products are produced. Gurman also reports on Apple’s target price for the first new smart home product.

Eddy Cue explains why Apple TV dropped the Plus, and how it’s not confusing

Apple TV+ is now just Apple TV, and Apple’s senior vice president of Services says the change was simply the right moment to make it.

In a guest appearance on The Town podcast hosted by Matt Belloni, Eddy Cue discussed why the company decided to drop the “Plus” from Apple TV Plus and why Apple does not believe it will create confusion with its other products of the same name.
