The first mayoral general election debate was two hours filled with attacks, jibes and wild stories as Zohran Mamdani, Curtis Sliwa and Andrew Cuomo went all out to make their mark.

Socialist Zohran Mamdani skirted tough questions and offered few specifics as he smoothly swatted off a barrage of attacks from ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo during a heated first general mayoral election debate Thursday.

Both Cuomo and Sliwa clearly hoped to make a splash in the debate as polls consistently showed the Mamdani holding onto a double-digit lead heading into November’s election.

The Guardian Angels founder served up deep-cut blows on Cuomo’s record as governor – and at one point bitingly comparing the political scion to his father: “You are no Mario Cuomo.”
