Mayor Zohran Mamdani is tapping a longtime Democratic Socialist organizer to head up a shiny new agency in City Hall in an attempt to co-opt his comrades' mobilization model to city government.

Mamdani effectively brushed off the brewing backlash by Jewish groups by insisting the city under his watch will aggressively fight hate.
